Vietnamese food has been my goto asian food choice for nealy 40 years --- but, Thai food has entered the chat.
Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was really great. Everything we ate was delightful.
If you're unfamiliar with Thai cuisine I would encourge you to get aquainted and see if you like. If you are familiar with Thai cuisine then you're likely a better judge then me because I have next to nothing to compare it to, but I suspect you will agree with me after you try this place.
Next time I visit I'll get some some pics and list my favorite dishes.

I needed a place to Hunker down for an hour or two and thought I'd get something to eat at the same time. Dennys was on the corner But I saw this Thai restaurant That might be a good place for me to hang out while my glasses were being fixed at Stanton optical on the other corner.
So this place has caused me to do my first review in months.
I haven't been well, but I made myself well enough to get this review done, out of obvious necessity.
When I walked in at about 5 o'clock I was alone. I got the menu, got a pot of green tea, and sat back trying to figure out my timing and my stomach. Try to do those two things at the same time.
I looked at the menu and chose the garlic chicken. I don't know how far off from a mistake it was, but I think any choice on the menu would've been a similar mistake.
The chicken was like rubber, the vegetables were rediculous in the size and texture of the brussels sprouts and carrots. Obviously they were mushy.
The rice was passable.
I do not recommend this place for anything especially if it has the word Thai in it.
I do have to admit that there were other people that came and left and seem perfectly happy with their meals.
I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Right behind the Denny's kind of hard to see from the main road ....Very good experience very delicious very cozy place, very friendly , very attentive staff we had the egg rolls pad Thai chicken and sticky rice and all were 10 out of 10 for me $29 fed 3 of us

It's just a cute little hole in the wall, but the food is delicious and so fresh. We have already eaten there 2x in the last 2 weeks. So good will be going back, but this is definitely worth a visit.

Amazing food, good service. No fancy decor, but the best tasting Thai food I have ever had. Not super cheap, but worth every penny. My only disappointment is that we hadn't discovered it sooner, and it isn't a little closer. We absolutely loved the pineapple fried rice.

I ordered drunken noodles with chicken I have no idea what I got. When got back to the hotel I called them I couldn’t understand what he was saying about the chicken but that’s definitely not chicken absolutely disgusting right to the trash.

Most authentic Thai food I’ve eaten stateside from east to west coast. Come try it to believe it! Amazing service as well!

We made a random stop on our way to FAT and it was a wonderful surprise- pad sie ew were fat and tender. Nothing like a hot wok-seared rice noodle. Tofu was also well prepared, perfectly seasoned, not too oily. Pad Thai was also very good with tofu, lots of crushed nuts, just a little sweet. I will definitely be back!

This is by far my favorite Thai restaurant in Fresno! I've been eating here for over ten years, and even though the ownership changed hands they still have kept a high standard of quality and tastiness.
Massaman curry is my favorite and they make it very well!

My favorite Thai. Some things have changed: the little sterno, BBQ fire pot does not come out with the chicken satay and the sweet owner who always wore a traditional dress was not there hosting or taking orders. The food was still BEAUTIFUL and tasted light, clean & DO TASTY. We ordered the Mango Salad, shrimp Pad Thai & Chicken Pad Thai extra sprouts: each pad thai tasted TOTALLY different than the other. The shrimp leaned to savory & the chicken more touch of sweet with a light bite of spice...PERFECTION. The chicken satay is ALWAYS cooked perfectly & paired up with the peanut sauce & cucumber & thai chili salad. It is still served with the slice of toast.... just missing that BBQ pot.

We’ve found a most wonderful Thai Restaurant called Gem of Thailand in Fresno! Their Fish Panang & Pork chili jam are consistently delicious! Theyve become our “usuals”!

Great tasting Thai food. The fact that egg fried rice which is usually bland, was flavourful 😊. Tom yum soup was awesome and so was ginger chicken which had strains of dried mushrooms which was addictive.

This place says closed on Mondays. However it is NEVER open. Tried a couple different times during the week & they are closed.

I don't understand the high rating for this place. The reviews is what made me pick this place for dinner and I was disappointed. Portions are very small for a thai restaurant. I ordered pad thai chicken and it only had 4 small pieces of chicken throughout and the noodles were thin glass noodles, not traditional pad thai noodles.. the shrimp spring rolls had two Itty bitty shrimp per roll.. it took a very long time to get our food only to be disappointed in our plates. Everything lacked flavor as well and the only sauces they have are store bought chili sauce. I would not recommend and I will not return.

My go-to Thai restaurant hands down. The closest to authentic Thai food in Fresno. We didn’t eat Thai for months when they were shut down during Covid. We tried one place and vowed never again. The food here is always fresh and the service is pleasant and professional.

Think I have found my new favorite Thai restaurant in Fresno. Had the Spring Rolls to start. Very fresh and loaded with vegetables with 2 sauces to dip. Had a Combo Pad Thai with beef, chicken & pork, delicious. Added a Thai Iced Tea and made a fantastic meal, with enough leftover for lunch. Highly recommend checking A Gem of Thailand out the next time you are craving Thai food!

The best Pad Thai in town!! I recently ate here for the first time, and it was delicious. They had a full house but still great service and very nice! Decent sized portions, and affordable. Two main dishes, an appetizer, and two drinks for under $30! Will definitely be coming back.

Amazing! You can barely tell from outside if there is something because if it’s sunny the blinds are all down and there are no signs at all. But we just went in and were really surprised. Food was super delicious and stuff very nice too! Recommend 100%!

So, I ordered a Chili Jam Chicken Lunch combination. I was told it would take 30 mins so I went out to run some errands and came back. Got my meal and went back to the office to eat. Opened up my meal to notice that my to-go box was filled with a bunch of rice and a pinch of chicken. Literally 6-8 small pieces of chicken with small shreds of veggies. Very small portions for an Asian restaurant. Other Thai restaurants in town are more generous with their servings. My dish was more of a $5 meal, not a $12 meal.

Love love love this cute little place. It’s kind of hidden totally worth finding. I’ve been to other Thai food restaurants in Fresno and ummm this little gem is the best all the way around. give it another shot, but my husband’s curry was not spicy even after being told they would add spicyness. My pad thai was good, but we waited over an hour for food. I understand it was busy, but those meals weren’t complicated. Serving sizes and prices were reasonable, but wait was not.

The pad Thai is delicious, it’s hard to find pad Thai that’s not too sweet. This was excellent.

This is a great little Thai place tucked away in a small strip mall next to Costco. The food was delicious and came in a large portion, the service was friendly, the atmosphere was maybe a little dated but genuine and pleasant. I'd be happy to go back the next time I'm in the area.

Couldn't decide on the chicken stirfry or the red chicken curry. Asked the waitress for her suggestion and she said, "why not both?" I ended up doing some two-for-one entrée deal and was able to order both. Pretty filling meal and the spices they serve on the side are delicious. Service was very attentive and food came out within 15 minutes or so.

I was visiting my sister Tammie Sterling from East Texas & she had a doctor's appointment in Fresno. So after her appointment, we went to eat lunch & saw this Thai "A Gem of Thailand", surprised us, because IT WAS GREAT, FOOD WAS VERY TASTY, plus good prices. I would recommend it, worth the try!!! :)

Great service from very friendly staff and good food (tried the panang curry, pad kee mao (drunken noodles), and spring rolls. Single order of hot sake was equivalent to about 4 shots but it seems there is only one option of sake. Could use some higher end sake offerings. I'll definitely be back.
