Tried the Green Curry with Tofu, and Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimp. Overall I think it’s mediocre. Not bad but not knocking my socks off. I’ve seen a lot of rave reviews and perhaps I ate here on an off day. As far as the Green Curry dish, the Rice was overcooked, the Tofu was weirdly chewy. Its saving grace was being quite flavorful with well cooked veggies. I didn’t have any issues with the Pineapple Fried Rice. It was tasty and the Shrimp were cooked well. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, and timely friendly service with a smile. I’d consider another visit to give this place another chance and try other dishes.
I came here for the Pad See Ew (Beef Flat stir fried noodle). I knew it was good because I had it at a friend house before. I ordered some other dishes too. But this hot and crunchy dessert blew my mind. The banana fritters were amazing. One of the best I ever had in my life. It came with a honey dip too. I will be back for more!
So happy that our favorite thai place in Tucson was closed today so we got to try this place, very authentic, food and prices are good, portions are perfect to share, the only thing ruinning the atmosphere is the Stu$id starbcks ruining the view to the beautiful mural across the street but thats another story 🤣👌 defenetly comming back and defenetly RECOMENDED!
Have tried a few Thai restaurants in Tucson, and this is by far my favorite! I loved everything we ordered. The spring rolls seem homemade and are different (in a good way!) than what you get at other places. The curry is the right amount of thickness, flavor, and the veggies were soft! The drunken noodles were also very yummy. Service was great and friendly. Will come back!
If you want spicy hot food then this is the spot. Try the soup with white rice. Its great. The items inside the soup is good for your body and the price is reasonable.
Try it and you will come back again and again.
I rather go here, a mom and pop store than corporations. The food is perfect! Try the number 49 and the tum yum soup.
The best Thai food I’ve had here in Tucson. Better than bai thong also better than Luckies Thai Asian cuisine. Not to put them down but I really enjoyed Karuna’s
Walked in and was greeted immediately. The place is small but the food is amazing. Price is decent. Ordered the Fried spring rolls, which was tasty. Beef pad Thai (spicy) really good and Karuna’s Fried rice was also scrumptious. The Thai tea is sweet and delicious. We will definitely be back. If you have not tried and Karuna’s is on your list GO!
Best fried rice in town; plenty of vegetarian choices. Can't think of a reason not to give five stars on any of these items.
Excellent spicy tofu pad Thai!
Delicious Thai food. Plenty of vegetarian options.
We got our food to go . And the food was excellent!!! No MSG!!! We loved it!
Very delicious food, and super kind service.
The food is authentic and tastes wonderful! I will keep going back here. So glad I found this place
Got the Thai fried rice with chicken and vegetables and I have nothing bad to say. Huge portion sizes, hot, fresh, and just delicious. I’ll be back!!
The servers were wonderful and the food was absolutely fantastic.
Food and service are awesome, but every time I visit they are chronically under staffed. The space is also small so tables fill quickly.
Very pretty inside with fresh flowers and blooming plants on the tables. Comfortable chairs.
When you FINALLY get your food, it is good. It took about 15 minutes to get served....over an hour before we even got a pot a tea. 2 of our 3 plates arrived 15 minutes later, the third almost an half hour. The server said that they were short staffed so there was only 1 server, no dishwasher and down 2 cooks... this isn't the first time this has happened. They did to hive a backup staff or let people know what is going on.
Since 1996 best Thai food in Tucson
This is my favorite Thai place I’ve ever eaten let alone in Tucson. I love the levels of spice they can add to the food and the flavors are amazing. They are always friendly and cook quickly. If you haven’t tried it you have to my go to take out dinner.
Lately I haven’t been able to order take out from them… makes me sad 😭 I call 10+ times with no answer
Great Thai but why even list a phone number when they never answer the phone 🙃🙃
I went here once and didn't like it. Then I forgot and went back and still didn't like it. I eat a lot of Thai for what it's worth
Don't eat here if you have food allergies. Normally thai food is quite safe for me, don't usually have problems. But I ordered the Pad Kee Mao and asked for no egg. The server said it wasn't made with egg. When it came to the table, it had tons of eggs mixed in it. Server never came back so I traded plates with my husband who ordered the Pad See Ew. Now, don't get me wrong, the food IS delicious. But after eating his Pad See Ew, which I thought would be safe because it didn't have egg, the noodles were rice noodles, I thought I was safe. But I spent all night sick as a dog. Realized the next morning that it was made with soy sauce and must have been regular soy sauce, not tamari. I'll be recovering from that meal for a couple of weeks. I don't understand why more places don't just use tamari across the board. It's so much safer for people who have problems with gluten. You expand your customer base and what's more, they'll be a loyal customer base because they'll know they're safe eating your food. I am very sad that I won't be able to eat here ever again. The food tasted great. But not worth getting super sick over.
Charming lil spot. I know depending on the regions they prepare their dishes differently.
The Pad See Ewe was a lil drier than I prefer. The noodles were borderline mushy. The chicken Pad thai was OK. The spring rolls were fresh+ giant and probably my favorite thing. The hot + sour soup was delicious and would go back for that alone. The restaurant was clean and staff was friendly.
Food is delicious! It's a small little restaurant but worth trying. My go to place for curry, I love the yellow and green. Fried rice is amazing!
Vegan options available making a great option for dining out. Love this place.
..QUAINT PLACE..ALWAYS HAVE HAD GREAT DELICIOUS FOOD HERE.. AND GOOD SERVICE.. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK FOR MORE OF THAT INCREDIBLE CURRY.
..YUM..!..
Lovely, cosy vibe. Curry was amazing!
This is a small intimate place where you almost eat elbow to elbow
But do not let that deter you Absolutely outstanding food and service
Super place for Thai food and hands down the best in town
If you want spicy hot food then this is the spot. Try the soup with white rice. Its great. The items inside the soup is good for your body and the price is reasonable.
Try it and you will come back again and again.
I rather go here, a mom and pop store than corporations. The food is perfect! Try the number 49 and the tum yum soup.
This place has no organization. We’ve been here for over an hour, and we have not even gone our appetizers. He did not have Liz follow up. Nothing been here over an hour. They have one waitress on a Saturday night. Very overrated place so bad that my family stayed here and I went to uppercrust next-door and they help me out faster
Service too slow
Karuna's has the best Tom Kha Gai (coconut soup) I've ever had. It's the thing I always get there because I can't bring myself, not to have it if I'm ordering from there. Try it, its amazing.
The place is small, but usually there is plenty of seating, and the ambiance is much nicer than it used to be. The service is hit or miss, but the food makes up for it!
Best thai place in Tucson.
The absolute best Thai in Tucson and probably AZ. I've tried every Thai spot here and every town I vist and this is in the top 5.
Best Thai place in Tucson for sure pad thai and pad see ew are gas the Thai tea was probably the best I’ve ever had
Great thai curry, light, fresh, and great flavors
Phone ordering experience was poor. They stated a 55 minute wait, showed up at 45 minutes. They did not have the order, they had a ticket with the same name. I assume they gave our order to somebody else. I was just openly confused and they were more defensive and rude, like anything was my fault. I just decided to leave after being accosted.
Placed a takeout order and they didn’t have our order. Staff was not apologetic or helpful.
A true hole in the wall! Staff is friendly, service can take awhile since it's almost always packed there but worth the wait. If you're in a hurry, order pickup. One of the best Thai restaurants in Tucson!
Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, and timely friendly service with a smile. I’d consider another visit to give this place another chance and try other dishes.
Delicious. Green thai curry - medium/hot heat with shrimp and tofu is delicious!!
If you love Thai food you definitely have to come here. The food is absolutely delicious and can be made in multiple heat levels and some of the best Thai hot you will ever get.
Favorite food in Tucson
Delicious! I can't wait to go back!
Decent little hole in the wall. The panang curry was definitely the best of the items we ordered. Timely. Reasonably priced.
Food here was delicious. I ordered pad Thai. I would recommend to come here if you’re new to Tucson.
OMG! Best damn Thai food in Tucson! Vegan options, soups are amazing, and the fried tofu is to die for!
Best Thai food in Tucson by far.
The chicken pad thai- Thai spicy is my go to. If you haven't tried Karunas out yet you're missing out!
They have not found the balance of the 5 flavors. Chicken satay was good but the other 2 dishes were barely able to eat.
I have been looking for a good pad Thai here ( it’s REALLLLLLYYY hard) and I think this has been my favorite! The rice noodles are a thin rice noodle instead of thick and I actually love that! Great tamarind taste, great spice to it, overall very delicious. My boyfriend had the red curry and that was also very good!! If you’re really hungry also add the friend spring rolls ;) We will return.
I used to enjoy the food from this restaurant, but sadly their ownership/management staff is terrible. I ordered a takeout from this restaurant based on their menu online. To my surprise, they add ingredients beyond what's listed. In my case, it was jackfruit (which we don't like). When I contacted the restaurant, their response was "well our online menu is wrong" How was I supposed to know that? And their only solution was to bring back the food. I would have been happy to do so if it were closer, but this place is 1hr round trip and with small kids I simply didn't have time. They refused to refund, or if I wanted credit I still had to bring food back. Again, with distance I simply cannot. The girl on phone was adamant and rude. I refuse to give any more of my money to such a place and would caution others as well
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! AVOID AT ALL COST!!! Food is ok but management is terrible! Especially the person answering all the phones and taking orders. They refuse to give you a refund, even when they made it wrong/different than what their menu states.
A little "hole in the wall" thai restaurant with very good food we had pad thai shrimp and curry chicken with bamboo both were excellent
Authentic Thai food. I've been to Thailand and Karunas has the delicious Thai flavors I love.
The Papaya salad, Pad Thai, soups all have lip smacking Umami taste.
Generous proportions for sharing.
Always busy, service is a little slow but the food is so worth it 😋
Karuna's Thai is our go-to for Thai food! Every dish on their menu is incredibly well made and flavorful, and we absolutely love this restaurant. They work so hard to make amazing food, and I'm so glad that they're here!
Food was so delicious! I had the green curry and my husband had the panang, both so so good! It was a busy Friday so we did wait a bit but nothing crazy. We'll be back!
Best Yellow curry for the price in town bar none. If you call the line might be busy and trust me that's for a good reason. I got the spiciest you can get and added chili paste and flakes to mine and it was a spicy masterpiece. The portions were very generous!
Food is very good. Environment in the restaurant is subpar. There are only metal table and chairs. When you go to eat in person there is always a long wait so we prefer to do takeout.
Great thai place. Try the special flat noodles with chicken and squid or the pad kee mao. The curry are all good.
Great tasting Thai food. A bit of a hole in the wall...
The red curry was some of the best I’ve ever had. My mom’s pad see ewe was really flavorful. We also ordered the steamed spring rolls to share and thought the peanut sauce was incredible. Staff was really attentive and food arrived quickly. Would absolutely go back.
Probably the best Thai food on the west side. Service is a bit uneven. Good sometimes, forgetful others. Atmosphere is very sparse and basic. That’s not a bad thing, but it’s not going to impress a date
My husband and I love Thai food. The food at Karuna's is amazing! Full of flavor and spicy just like we like it
One of My favorite Thai restaurants in Tucson. Love all the different kinds of foods that I’ve tried. Green curry is the best. It’s one of my families, favorite places to go
We read the reviews and came in with high expectations. My husband had the Pad Thai, I had a noodle dish #35 on the menu. We both chose tofu and medium spice/heat. The flavor profile was amazing for both dishes and there were lots of veggies. We loved the food and will be back. Can't wait to try one of the curries.
Hands down the best Thai food!!!
Best Thai place I’ve been to in Tucson! I loved the curry #54 with beef! Highly recommend coming here. What a wonderful experience. Made my heart happy!!
I have been in the hunt for Thai restaurant and this is it! I got the chicken pad thai and my husband got the #32 (forgot the name). So good!!! We will be back! Thank you!
The dishes are the best Thai food I’ve had in Arizona. I have been looking for good Thai food for the past 3 years I’ve lived here. I ordered the pad Thai, Pad see Ewe, Chicken Satay, Fried spring rolls and Wonton soup. Everything was divine and the portion sizes were amazing, perfect for sharing. The pricing was amazing most entrees ranging from $12.95-$15.95. They had the food out quickly and were quick to bring paper towels when one of the waters spilled. I will definitely be coming back on my own time. The only thing that wasn’t great was the atmosphere and that was mainly because the bathroom was in the middle of the restaurant, other than that, it was great.
Had takeout. Was quite good
My favorite Thai place state-side! It makes me feel like I’m back in Thailand whenever I eat there. I regularly takeout and dine in.
Best Thai food in tucson
Great food, I ordered the pad see ew...oh man was it good!
Good restaurant, no frills it is what it is. A place to sit down and get good food. The massaman curry was so flavorful! Perfect!
The food was so tasty and the space was clean and well maintained. The parking lot was a little bit confusing but the food and service made up for it!
Stopped by for a late lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent stir fry dishes, perfect portion size and spice level. Really good!
We have eaten here three different times and each time it has been excellent and consistent! Have enjoyed the wonton soup, the chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce, and the mango chicken curry. Food is fresh and there’s plenty of it and the flavors are delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful. It’s one of those places where we crave the food and can’t wait to have it again! We request zero on a scale of 1 to 5 for hot spiciness, because we are seriously wimps haha!
We ordered tofu pad thai, panang curry with tofu, and fried veggie spring rolls. The only edible dish was the panang curry, and the rice for that dish was mushy. The tofu pad Thai was inedible. The taste was reminiscent of old fish. The spring rolls tasted like they were fried in oil that hadn't been changed in years.
Needless to say, we won't be going back. Very disappointing.
Karuna's holds a solid spot in my Top Three restaurants in Tucson, no question. The food is beyond excellent. I personally love the Pad Thai, pineapple fried rice and several curries. Prices increased recently, but are still completely reasonable and they had been the same for YEARS. Sometimes the food takes forever to come out; it's worth the wait, in my opinion. I will gladly deal with the rude service (not ALL the time, but still) to enjoy this food. I've never found a better Thai place in Tucson!
Amazingly friendly staff, courteous, relaxed atmosphere, and of course the food is never a disappointment.
Busy but quick, lots of people with take out orders.
Food is tasty at good prices too. Plus the ladies at the restaurant are so nice. They offered me a snack while I was waiting for my food. I order red curry- it was creamy and delicious.
I've eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants and this was one of the best yellow curries I've ever had. Well done.
Absolutely wonderful healthy and delicious Thai dishes.served by friendly, efficient employees. Generous portions and a cozy atmosphere make this Thai restaurant worthy of a five star review. This is a small local restaurant we have been enjoying for over 20 years and are never disappointed!
Moving down from Phoenix, it has been difficult to find a good option for Thai food in Tucson, and this place was NOT a disappointment.
It was our first time so we order 4 entrees and 1 aptz, Tom Yum Kum was the star of the show. The chef was able to bring out the flavor of kafir lime and ganglia root without the pungent of fish sauce; it could be a little more acidic if Im being picky (just ask for some lime).
Pad Thai has good flavor with real peanut crush. The noodle was a tad bit disappointing. Thin noodle was use along with the thick sauce, together they gave an over cook/ soggy feeling.
Pad See Ew is my personal favorite anywhere and same as here. The flat noodle was done perfectly; but the sauce was sweeter than my liking.
Overall it was a good experience on the food site. Service was okay and it’s NOT because of our server. As nice and friendly as he was, our food came out very slow and not in order (Aptz came out in the middle of the meal). Even though I see them have four to five chef in the back. Per hap, it was dinner time or just some organization issue.
I'd say this is the best Thai Food in Tucson right now! The portion sizes are just right, the dishes are well seasoned and intensely flavorful.
Just be warned, if you ask for "very spicy" you will get EXACTLY that. So be careful what you wish for! For me, that's just the thing I want in a Thai restaurant.
There were even items and dishes we hadn't seen at any other Thai restaurant.
So definitely come here if you want some fantastic Thai eats!
Excellent yellow curry Gang Garee.
Not hard to set temporarily closed on google.
Tom Kha Gai needed more everything. Nothing bad just a little bland. Service was amazing.
Hands down, this is the best Thai food in Tucson. Food is made when you order it. Order ahead or be prepared for the wait. Either way, it is worth it.
We ordered the hot basil fried rice, yellow curry, spring rolls, and two thai teas. The rice and curry were really sweet. They added way too much sugar. The peanut sauce was really sugary too! The thai teas had soo much sugar also, it tasted like syrup.
I would not order from here again and I would not recommend it.
Excellent Thai. I won’t even qualify it with “for Tucson”.
Small, crowded, parking is a pain, takes a while but the food is worth the trouble and drive.
Delicious pad thai!
FANTASTIC!!!!
I drive to Tucson quarterly for a medical procedure and rarely have dinner before driving back to Phoenix. I'm SO glad I did. The place is very unassuming and is on a busy street, but once inside, WOW, WOW, WOW.
The small details caught my attention .... a small vase with fresh flowers on every table. It's a very intimate, warm environment.
The food??? OMGOODNESS!!!!! There are literally no words in the English language to express how incredibly fresh, flavorful and filling it was. My friend had Thai Chicken Fried rice and I had the curry fish .... Deeeelicious; and that's putting it lightly. This will be my dinner spot every quarter.
Five stars across the board, times infinity!!!! 👍
Nothing really available besides two items. So why give us a menu? soda is flat and waitress didnt care
Tiny place with great food. If you go during peak hours there will be a wait, but the food is worth the wait. Best Thai in Tucson.
Great little restaurant. Clean, fast friendly service. The food was very good.
They would get negative stars, but unfortunately you have to leave at least one. This is the poorest run business I've come across. Their website states certain prices, then they charge you 50% more. I called to confront them about this, and they take absolutely no responsibility for their own website, and refused to refund any money. I wish a place like this would've shut down from COVID, and not some of the really good local businesses that did. This is false advertising. I wouldn't support them if they were the only Thai restaurant in the country.
Finally tried Karuna's and so glad I did. I am from Seattle where we have many wonderful Thai restaurants. Unfortunately Thai in Tucson is sadly lacking flavor. The parking is horrible but well worth it! Had Pad Thai and Spring rolls with pork...Spicy!
The wonton soup and yellow curry are excellent and prices are very reasonable.
There aren't that many Thai places in Tucson, generally speaking. But I love Thai food and I've had it in many places and I can tell you this is one of the best places to get Thai food. Delicious. A little understaffed so your food might take a sec to arrive, but the wait is worth it.
Excellent pad thai!
Great Thai food. I had the green curry with chicken and the dish was fantastic. Parking is a little difficult and they were out of shrimp but the food was high quality!
This is some of the best Thai food we've ever had! We highly recommend it and will definitely be back!
Some of the best Thai food I've had.
Tried to order from here today and the phone number was not working. I’m not sure if they closed down or what. Hope not, because it seemed like their food would’ve been great.
Great food and wonderful service. Every dish we had was delicious! Try the fried banana for an after dinner treat! Scrumptious!
Very good Thai menu. After a truck went through their front wall, they cleaned up, rebuilt and re-opened. So glad they did. The food is fresh and so tasty with that special Thai basil.
This is the best Thai curry in Tucson that I have tried so far! I highly recommend the duck curry, make it Thai spicy if you love spicy like I do. The koo chi dish is absolutely phenomenal.
Really good authentic Thai. Was busy so the service was slow but it was worth the wait. The atmosphere is plain with cafeteria style chairs and tables and some background noose would have made it more comforting. But hey, we were there for the food and it did not disappoint! We will be going back.
Amazing Thai food at a great price!
J'adore. The spicy is spicy. Had the green curry, pad see ew and spicy beef salad. All delicious for days.
I am happy to admit that Karina's Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant in the Tucson metro area! I am so glad that you went through all of the pains of getting back to business after the accident! I know so many locals that missed you while you were rebuilding. Thank you for keeping at it and for making the best Thai food in the area!
My family and I are picky with our Thai food and this place has one of the best Thai food that we've had in Tucson! We were worried there wouldn't be a good Thai place in Tucson but the food here is great! I loved the Poh Thak soup and the fish curry!
Best Thai food in the city!
THE BEST PAT SEE EWE AND CHICKEN PAD THAI!!!!!
Amazing food. Good vegetarian options. They customized the food as per our preference, would definitely come back for more.
Wonderful menu and quality. Friendly staff, and absolutely delicious cuisine. Will definitely be back..
Medium is still fairly spicy, just FYI.
Food is Authentic Thai. 4 ⭐️
Food is always incredible but expect to wait.
Eat here every single week. There is no Thai that compares to Karuna's
Very good, fresh, home-made, authentic Thai food!
Best chicken Pad Thai ever....so glad they are open again.
The food was delicious and plentiful. I has a red curry with vegetables and tofu. The servings were very generous to the point I took what was left and hD it for lunch the next day.
I would have like a Thai beer but the establishment serves no alcohol.
The portions are large, prices reasonable, and food is delicious. I loved the hot and sour soup and the roasted duck had delicious crispy skin. Everything was great. Also loved the Thai iced tea. Will say it took quite a while for the food to come out, even just the iced tea, so if you’re in hurry or looking for a quick lunch I would avoid dining in and try take out instead.
Food is decent, if overpriced. Be warned: real prices are actually $3-4 more for each dish than the menu posted online on the official website (aka fraud).
Loved the food. Best Pad Thai, Laab, and Nam Sod.
Just tried it out today. For Tucson, I would say it’s probably one of the better Thai spots. You want spicy? They’ll give it to you. However, they are lacking in speed, service and taste. Just a heads up, they either turn off their phone or just ignore calls. We tried to call and it kept going to voicemail. We had to drive here and order in person. Not a single person acknowledged us and they were moving very slowly. The girl (that wasn’t Thai) who took our order tonight was very unenthusiastic and I didn’t like her demeanor. She didn’t seem like she wanted to be there. She cut me off as I was ordering to talk to another customer who was asking for something. When you are attending to a customer, you focus on them. It’s so rude. The other customer can wait. No apology either. Asked her about the phone and she said “we have one but it just doesn’t stop ringing”. So you just don’t like to answer, got it. We had to wait 1.5 hours for the food but the restaurant itself was not busy. Apparently takeout was though or who knows.
Onto the food. First off, we ordered 3 dishes and got 2 rices. Papaya salad was disgustingly dry. Spicy which was great. No flavor and too much sugar. Me and my entire family can make papaya salad 5x better than this. Pad Krapow was the best thing we ordered. But on the sweeter side as well but at least normal sized. My sister ordered something with duck and they skimped on the duck. Flavor was okay. More veggies and sauce than meat. Not awful. We got the fish curry and it had too much sauce, not enough veggies and 3 tiny measly pieces of fish. These people are extremely cheap if you’re not ordering chicken so beware of that. Best Thai place in Tucson? Maybe, for some of you but it’s mediocre at best in my eyes.
Solid Thai food. Service can be a bit slow at times.
Glad to see her back open. Good food.
Simply the best Thai I've had in Arizona! Been waiting a year for them to reopen and reclaim their title and they have!! 🎉🎉🎉
I haven't had much Thai food in Tucson, but of the three I've tried Karuna's has the best hands down! Their pad thai seasoning can sometimes vary, but the medium is great and let's you know the spice is there! They were closed for a while but they're open again and our house is excited!
Excellent food!!
Food is very good. Good pricing. This place is super busy, make sure you get there early to place your order
Great as always
They have reopened!! Just as good as I remember. My favorite Thai place!!
Amazing food! We are patiently waiting for it to reopen but have heard nothing.
I wish they would re open or change locations and re open. This was my favorite place in town and I used to visit once a week.
Please don't stay closed forever, I miss you guys!!!
This is my spot! Does anyone know when they will be back?
Great food reasonable price excellent service good atmosphere. Hope it reopens soon.
Food is 10/10, but they really need to scale their business. I placed an order on a Saturday, which should be busy, was told it would be ready in one hour. I did not have my food in hand until almost 90 minutes after placing the order. I appreciate the warning, but it should be accurate. Keep making good food, and maybe hire another cook to help.
A friend of mine tell me about this place and he talked to me only good things about the place I think he was Too Short in the description because the food is so amazing delicious wow you must try
I've been coming here for years and the food is always fantastic. The staff are like family and treat you as such.
Tasty!
Good and filling. Does take a little while our carryout order took 45min. But it's worth the wait. They also call you when your order is ready so you can explore the block while you wait
Absolutely one of the best Thai restaurants in Tucson. The pad see ew is my favorite dish, and I am always super happy with the flavor, quality, spiciness (I love my Thai food spicy), and portion size.
