Visited the restaurant today for the first time for our anniversary dinner. The food was amazing! Everything we ordered was full of flavor that was different and exotic. Everyone is extremely nice and accommodating to your needs; for example, we went there with my toddler, and they were very accommodating.
Love the spicy levels and that they're actually spicy. Truly great! We will be back very, very soon.
Absolutely wonderful experience, very friendly attentive staff. Delicious dishes, definitely recommend the crispy samrod duck and Branzino fish. Papaya salad was refreshing and we got the medium spice 3, you can choose from levels 1-5. Really enjoyed the coconut pudding dessert, not too sweet & had coconut ice cream topped with peanuts & mint. I really wanted to try the mango sticky rice but they ran out, will definitely be back!
We enjoyed our dining experience here - the staff/server/owner was very friendly. Appreciated that they have an outdoor table so our pup could join us for dining. The Tom yum soup, branzino fish and boat noodles all had great flavours. I think the boat noodles can be a little too salty but the rest was fine. Interesting cocktail menu although we did not try. Will recommend if you are down for Thai food in Astoria.
loved kam rai thai! food is super authentic, fresh, and delicious. loved all the dishes i got but the curry puffs were a top hit for me. the dough is house made so it was super soft and flaky. you can just tell the level of details they put into their food!! the wok fried rice and red snapper also were really delicious. so much flavor in the fried rice and red snapper was fried perfectly. the desserts were also a top hit, grass jelly and coconut pudding were both not overall sweet and super refreshing!
My wife and I have been coming here at least twice a month for the last year or two. The food is always great, the service is absolutely superb (we love Kris and Nina) and the atmosphere is always sublime, with very cool music playing and the flower-filled ceiling is always a wonder to behold. Our favorite Thai restaurant by far.
This place is the absolute best!! Everything is super fresh and delicious. We ordered so much food and enjoyed everything the flavor was on point and the perfect amount of spice. Super comforting really and beautiful inside definitely bring a date and share a great drink or two !
Kam Rai Thai is a hidden gem in Astoria by Chef Oak that offers all four regions of Thai cuisine. Their friendly and attentive staffs explain their menu in depth offering different levels of spiciness. Choose Thai spicy if you feel daring! With a variety of cocktails and drinks, you will be sure to pair your meal perfectly. Enjoy an appetizer platter with spicy Tom Yum Soup before your entrees. Choose from different regional Thai dishes for entrees and finish off with dessert! Here at Kam Rai Thai, you will have the chance to experience what and how local Thai people eat.
Kam Rai Thai delivers an exceptional dining experience that truly showcases the vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine. During our recent visit, we sampled a variety of dishes, each offering a unique taste profile that left a lasting impression.
Overall, Kam Rai Thai is a feast for the senses, with each dish telling a story of culture and tradition. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore authentic Thai flavors.
Delicious Thai cuisine that’s not to be missed! This gem tucked away in this intimate corner of Astoria did a great Khao Soi, Roti Massaman, and a variety of dishes from several regions of Thailand. Worth coming for the cocktails and ambiance alone. Would definitely return!
Authentic Thai food
Excellent food
Went here when they first opened and it was amazing. I don’t know if they got a new chef (or the downgrade in quality has to do with the B rating) but the food was significantly different. Rice paper in the Summer rolls were dry and chewy; steamed dumplings were chewy, cold and stale. I had the pad see ew and it was OK- I’ve had better.
Great service! Delicious food! Mario is a gem! We always order takeout but dining in is always a great treat.
Mario was an awesome server
Thank you so much Mario, good was great!
My family and I came here on a busy Saturday night and Mario and everyone here was so friendly and accommodating even though we didn’t have a reservation. Everything was so delicious from the thai iced teas, appetizers, entrees, and dessert! We all kept talking about how flavorful our meals were. We can’t wait to come back and try more of the food! This was excellent and we can’t recommend this restaurant enough!
Love love!
GREAT OVERALL RESTAURANT MY AND BEAUTIFUL ENJOYED OURSELVES
Great food and great service. Mario was the best!
Best Thai food in Astoria!!!!
great food! Thank you to our server Mario!
Food never disappoints. The atmosphere is amazing. Our server, Mario, was excellent with being attentive to our experience. Definitely our go to Thai place!
The server i had was amazing and I had a great time. The food was great and flavorful I had the branzino soup with white rice and the spring rolls. So great. And the server checked on me all the time to ensure I was alright and it was just a great customer experience overall. I will be back for sure!!
A beautiful experience. To start:
Quick and immediately service that was warm but not pushy or inauthentic. The decór creates a lovely ambiance of a flower-laden ceiling with music choices that are catchy but does not dominate over a conversation with friends. Also, they love the 🌈
The coffee is rich and not too sweet while being a great caffeine boost. The wings had a nice crunch but a sleeper hit was the curry puff balls where they were light and fluffy with a hearty filling.
For the entrees, FAB. The wok fried rice with crab meat was delicious, with a bright lime sauce accompanying it that made it sing. They had green beans with a beautiful crispy pork with the medium spice complementing it so well.
The beef soup noodle winter special was my absolute favorite of the night. Great for a cold evening, the cuts of meat were varied and added to the texture. The broth was like liquid gravy in bowl while still staying light and soupy. I would have loved to take photos but by the time we were done the plates were bare (see other reviews for the photos).
The manager personally recommended items and made us feel so welcome, such a sweet guy. I love thai food, and the menu being divided to highlight the different regional foods and styles of Thailand is informative and keeps it varied. This is NOT your typical Thai place, this is elevated, well-plated, and the flavor profile is impeccable.
Amazing 10/10
BEST THAI FOOD EVEEERRRRRRRRRRRRR. We got the wok fried Rice, the beef are you Taki soup, and the Pork fried string beans, as well as the fried chicken appetizer with the garlic sauce that made me want to leave my body and enter the gates of heaven, expeditiously, and the curry puff balls which were only made because they were followed by that bomb ass garlic sauce. Awesome Experience, the staff is so friendly, he gave tongue pops, and yes, queen. Thank you thank you so much!
Best Thai food I've ever had fr. Y'all gotta try it
love this place!! never had a bad meal here. fabulous atmosphere and everyone who works here is so lovely
great food and great service
This is the best restaurant in Astoria. We come here whenever we need a good meal and great service
Literally the best Thai food I’ve ever had - food, service all top notch! They were also very accommodating of our baby
Atmosphere is nice and food is great
Excellent food and ambiance.
The food alone is worth visiting! Don’t be shy to double ask for ur drink during happy hour as it’s run a little family style with one bartender. Overall came here twice years apart and still great!
Delicious spot! Great atmosphere, quality food, friendly service!
So friendly and delicious— I love bringing people here!
Service was amazing and the atmosphere is great would HIGHLY recommend if in NYC
The service and the food was excellent. The waiter made everything so enjoyable and welcoming.
The food was great, left with a smile on my face
Absolutely wonderful experience, very friendly attentive staff. Delicious dishes, definitely recommend the crispy samrod duck and Branzino fish. Papaya salad was refreshing and we got the medium spice 3, you can choose from levels 1-5. Really enjoyed the coconut pudding dessert, not too sweet & had coconut ice cream topped with peanuts & mint. I really wanted to try the mango sticky rice but they ran out, will definitely be back!
Authentic!! Wonderful.
Super cute atmosphere with amazing food!
authentic thai food at its finest. great vibes, amazing service and food
Possibly the best tom yum soup i’ve had, had a very deep depth of flavor. All staffs were very attentive and friendly. Would definitely come back again!!
Great place for a quick meal, subtle & kind of tight so wouldn't really recommend more than 2 people. Good prices
This place is awesomsauce! It’s a beautiful mom and pop spot with heavenly music in the background to encourage your sway as you’re eating the most delicious crispy duck. The Nam Kon Tom Yum noodle soup level 5 definitely removed the chill off my bones on this cold snowy day. The Roti massaman was sooooo good. We had left over sauce and I had to pour it over my rice (no flavor left behind!) unfortunately (but fortunately) we couldn’t finish everything so left overs for a mid snack is coming home with me. I absolutely, positively, h8 “sours”, but they have completely changed my mind. Their whiskey sour was delicious, but the Old Fashion was my favorite. Please if you don’t try any other restaurant in Astoria do come here. PS we did order a lot of food that I haven’t mentioned and the food was so good I forgot to take pictures.
Yall, this place is the jam, fr. You can get a full on flavor spectrum of Thailand with a handful of dishes! Cocktails are fire and if you’re not sure what to get, they will help you based on the flavor profiles you like!
It’s the BEST Thai food I have had in NYC. So much flavor, authentic dishes and heart warming services. Coming back again and again
Currently sitting here with my wife and it had to be hands down the best decision I have made thus far. Chef Oak definitely is a master of his craft. Recommend 10/10
Excellent food and atmosphere every time we go. Exceptional service from everyone here esp. Chris , definitely recommend this place
Incredible food, our waiter was very polite and helpful, and the atmosphere was so cozy! Definitely recommend.
Incredible meal and service. The mock duck eggplant dish, massaman curry, and mango salad were very flavorful.
The winter favorite confit was fantastic!
Pad see ew was amazing!!
Amazing service, amazing food and ambient. Highly recommend!
Lovely lunch or diner spot! Solo or with family!
Had the crispy pork fried rice and it was perfectly spiced (not too spicy but a little kick) and a very delicious cocktail. Atmosphere and service are great. Will definitely come again
Very cozy place with delicious dishes.
Small cozy space with amazing menu selection, curated cocktail specials. Excellent Thai food!
Amazing experience. Everybody was so accommodating and warm and lovely. All food has amazing depth of flavor. I live in Manhattan and it was worth the journey all the way to Astoria for this delicious cuisine.
Amazing food and great ambiance!
One of my favorite places. Food. Service. Atmosphere. Everything is AMAZING.
I don't normally like Thai food but this place hits the spot.
Delicious!! A gem in Astoria
Very delicious and great service!
Food was incredible!
Good but way too salty! Too too salty. Feels like it was spicy because it was so salty
Que Rico!!!! Todo!! Mario our waiter was exceptionally.
I’m a picky eater, and everything here was DELICIOUS!!! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. The restaurant is beautiful. The drinks were perfect. The food was fresh and delicious. The desserts were AMAZING. Honestly looking forward to coming back.
A cozy spot, an authentic Thai cuisine with exotic flavors hidden in Astoria area.
It’s EXPERIENC‼️walk into the flower world with sublime & welcoming atmosphere. Nice spot for Valentines’ day 💗 Get PRIX MENU $69/PP
Includes Grilled Portugal Octopus, Raw Scallops, Crispy Duck, Pastry Beef, Grilled Freshwater Prawn, Crispy Lotus Blossom Cookie.
Now, let’s talk about the flavors. Curry Puff is the best stater, soft & flaky. Home made meatball just go NEXT LEXEL. Just dipped into the sauce, OMG, perfectly blend of favors, truly showcases the vibrant flavors of authentic Thai Cuisine.
The Fired Fish is EVERYTHING, the different way to cook to tell you a story of different cultures. Crispy, spicy, delicious….a chance step into Thailand without leaving NYC 🇹🇭
The food was delicious and the vibes are great, but can’t help but feel like we were misguided about the total price. Ordered the Khao Soi Nuea (which is a beef dish) that said $34.95 on the menu. Turns out there’s a $5 “beef” surcharge AND a $5 “market” surcharge, so it’s essentially $44.95. It doesn’t mention that anywhere on the menu. Additionally, there was a 2.95% restaurant fee that was never disclosed when paying (we were never shown an itemized receipt including the surcharges or restaurant fee, just a confirmation of the things we ordered). Again, incredible food but would appreciate a little bit more price transparency coming from a neighborhood restaurant.
I love this place. Each time is a different experience. Great authentic Thai restaurant. Affordable prices. You won’t be disappointed.
Great authentic Thai food, lots of variety of dishes to choose from. Great service! Really nice ambiance. Food is sooooo affordable and portions are very good. I’m a regular here and have never been disappointed.
Very beautiful environment, perfect portions, excellent nature and welcoming staff
Exceptional food and service!
The fermented crab papaya salad is 🔥🔥🔥
Wonderful and personable service. The food was amazing and the server was knowledgeable about everything. I would recommend it.
A wonderful experience!! The food and drinks were amazing, and the service was unmatched, will definitely be back!
They are so wonderful and kind and attentive! The food was delicious!
Awesome, complex flavors. Definitely coming back!
Loved the duck. Quack addict.
Love this spot! My go to Thai place in the neighborhood.
Best Thai in town, plus excellent and gracious service!
This place is elite I would eat here everyday
This is such a cute hole in the wall space. The vibe is just right and the food is amazing! Doesn’t disappoint!
Great food and excellent service
Great Thai spot, got pad knee mao, pork belly, papaya salad, crab meat fried rice, chicken skewers and every dish was full of flavor.
Staff was great and extremely friendly.
This place is great and the staff is super friendly!!
great food, ambiance, and service!
Very hospitable and kind staff!
Service, food, interior was all amazing!!!
Can’t believe such amazing thai food is just around the corner, really authentic food, all the soupy dishes are amazing, will try them all
This is our favorite Thai restaurant, the food is amazing, the staff absolutely wonderful and the drinks are in my opinion one of the best in town, the flavors are exotic and tasty. Highly recommend 100%.
Great good, kind service. Our family of 4 enjoyed everything. We'll be back! Highly recommend the coconut desserts.
Cute spot for dessert and maybe drinks… but the food isn’t what I’d thought it would be for such a fancy looking spot. The chicken tastes microwaved. Overall a good place. I’d go again, but I expected better.
Amazing food and attentive staff
Visited the restaurant today for the first time for our anniversary dinner. The food was amazing! Everything we ordered was full of flavor that was different and exotic. Everyone is extremely nice and accommodating to your needs; for example, we went there with my toddler, and they were very accommodating.
Love the spicy levels and that they're actually spicy. Truly great! We will be back very, very soon.
Mario was amazing. Owner was so nice. Good food, good atmosphere
Food was delectable, service was great and atmosphere was warm and inviting. Had a wonderful time!!!
Lovely meal and ambiance. Very attentive waitstaff. Will be back soon.
This place is a gem. Ate here on the night of New Year’s Eve and I’ve ate here at noon on a Tuesday, service was still A1 and food was still fresh. Great selection of Thai classics and more regional cuisine. Can’t recommend enough.
Love this place! Must try everything! Always enjoy coming here!
This is lit
Food is really good, service is great.
Food and service were great!
This is one of our favorite Thai spots in NYC!! The food is absolutely amazing and the service and hospitality is top notch! We love the ambience of the cute restaurant and also order in all the time too!
Simply delicious!
The food is really good, staff is friendly, and atmosphere is really nice.
My family and I came to Kam Rai Thai to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The service and food was great. It was authentic Thai cuisine. We will be back to enjoy more dishes.
Love it, foods great, warm atmosphere, huge servings, great stuff
Excellent Thia Food! Ita small and very beautiful restaurant. The service is wonderful and the food leaves you wanting more. Everything is well seasoned and tasty. I have tried the pineapple curry chicken, curry puffs, a peanut sauce dish with chicken and veggies (I forgot the name). I have yet to taste something I did not like there. I also tried a coconut pudding dessert which was tiny but really good. I just wish it was bigger!
Friday January 17th I dined here with my friend. She had heard about this place. We were circling around looking for a parking spot and almost gave up. We ordered the lunch specials. I had vegetables in garlic sauce with chicken. It came with a spring roll and salad. I was served a delicious clear broth with cilantro. My friend had a curry dish with chicken and vegetables. She commented the curry sauce was tasty. We shared an appetizer of chicken satay that was great! Definitely worth a trip. Authentic Thai food! The server was friendly and helpful.
Amazing food. Best thai place ever! Staff was also very friendly
Good Thai food fast. Authentic flavors. Tri, our server, was super attentive and on point with everything. Ordered red curry and pork basil noodles lunch special and it was divine.
Update - want back this week 1/15/25 and unfortunately the lunch portions got smaller and the pork was not fresh.
Amazing food!!!!!😍
Second time here and I always enjoy it
My family are regulars here
Xoxo you’re missing out if you don’t try this place
Amazing food!!!!
Had an amazing experience dining here!
Tried the Nuea Yang dish which was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, seasoned really well, and paired greatly with the sauce.
The servers were very attentive and the overall atmosphere was pleasant.
Will definitely be coming back!
The food and service were amazing!! Definitely coming back ☺️
Good food and cool spot. They made sure I got a good spice level. Will definitely go back
