The staff were very pleasant when ordering and asking about menu options. I gave them 3 stars due to the food tasting very bland. Since I didn't think to ask for any sauces to put on the fried rice dish I ordered, because normally I don't need it, I was even more disappointed about the .50 I spent on a half filled cup of blazing sauce....don't remember the name of sauce. Interesting enough, the little bit of sauce was enough for the amount of rice I had. I have been on a mission to find an just one other thai place that I like over my neighborhood one and have been coming up short.

Never had Thai food before so I was really excited to try this place out while I was in the area. Everything was fantastic, from the service to the atmosphere to the drinks to the food, couldn't have asked for a better experience.

I ordered the Blue Dolphin 🐬 and the Kao Mo-Kai. Both were delicious and the dish itself was so, so good. Might not be able to come back due to distance, but I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you're around Mountain Brook.

The Surins are my favorite Thai restaurants in the world. Cannot beat the chicken noodle bowl and coconut soup, which is only available at lunch.

I picked up a DoorDash last night from this location so I couldn’t rate food but the guy that gave me my DoorDash had blown his nose on a napkin and didn’t wash his hands 😳 he went to the back and got my order with nasty hands and gave it to me I just picked it up from the bottom that’s pitiful and extremely nasty and GERMY

So I would give it 5 comeplete stars but they don’t have the same drink menu as surin west. They are missing the Lost of Thailand and the lychee martini

Food good. Brought my friend soup that contained seafood after he had asked for no seafood in it. Different server that came by was able to correct it fairly quickly. Thx!! Our server seemed a bit out to lunch. And it was 2pm.

My pet peeve is for a place to say they close at a certain time and dont honor that. Working in retail for 11 years. You close when you say you do. If someone walks in prior to closing you honor them. Otherwise just close when you want to truly close. Its just rude and bad business. Walked in at 822pm and was told they closed. They have posted 930pm. Ridiculous.

I orderedthe seafood soup and hot and sour soup from grub hub with a side of rice it was almost 50 dollars only got 2 separate cups of the seafood no hot and sour I couldn't eat it because I didn't think that it was at all good. During a visit with my financial adviser he took my to one of his favorite lunch spots, Surin of Thailand. We were shown to a table right away, but it took quite a while to take our order. (Like a lot of restaurants they are obviously short oh staff. Meanwhile we were all served a cup of tofu coconut soup which excellent. For a main dish I had the Khoa Man Gai which according to the menu is a “Marinated boneless chicken breast with a crispy tempura, and aromatic Thai style rice cooked in chicken broth and a spicy ginger garlic dipping sauce, accompanied with dressed fresh greens.” It was very good, but I think next time I will have will have what my financial adviser ordered. He had his favorite, a soup with large pieces chicken. I don’t remember the name of dish, but looked very good and he said it was excellent. A very nice expensive experience; I will do it again.

My daughter and I took my son there for a birthday lunch last week and had a very nice meal. The food was delicious as always, but even more impressive was the service we received. The servers and other staff were so polite and attentive, it made the meal that much better. We love this place.

I've been going here for years. Wife says sushi is always great, there are a number of Thai dishes I'll eat that are fine. Dine in is hit or miss, but take out is efficient and correct. Parking is a casino game. I'm glad they are here. Every now and then I'll try Southside location for takeout and kick myself.

The service here is horrible. Which is not surprising being as though I don't look like the people living in the area. I called in who asked for directions because the GPS was not bringing me to the exact location and I was lost. Instead of attempting to give me directions the young lady that answered the phone told me "well we're not located where you are" without any further directions or assistance. Once I call back and spoke to the manager he proceed to cut me off while I was talking, & told me "Uh huh, we got you. We canceled it" and proceeded to hang up. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Relocating from New York area, it has been impossible to find authentic Thai food in Birmingham. After trying Shiki restaurant and leaving incredibly disappointed, we had high hopes for Surin of Thailand. The dish was even worse; incredibly bland and watered down.

Stumbled on this place driving back to Texas. Best Thai food we’ve ever had! Sauce and seasonings were perfect and not overbearing, allowing the taste of the food to shine. We did not try the Sushi. Unexpected memorable food experience . If you like Thai food you will not be disappointed.

While I did enjoy the flavor of the curry, I specified Thai hot when the server asked me hot or Thai hot. Not very hot at all. Looks like I will have to try again and have them kick it up a notch.

They’ve ruined it. The renovations look very nice and the restaurant is more comfortable, but the food is different. All the food looks the same but does not taste the same. Very bland. Used to always get the chicken masamam - very flavorless now. What happened?

My wife and I have enjoyed their fine Thai cuisine for more than 17 years in Mountain Brook. More than 25 years at their Southside location in Birmingham. Their Chicken Masaman with avocado is to die for. Always excellent and never any drop off in the quality. The Coconut Soup that comes with it will make you slap yourself to wake up from this Thai Food Dream. The BBQ chicken which they marinate overnight every day is ridiculously good as any of their noodle selections. Our entire family LOVES this Restaurant and always asks for it if we mention dinner or lunch out. This includes both sides of the family. Their service, wine and drinks selection and the Acid Jazz music just top off this extraordinary place of great food, service & surroundings. I have nothing else to say. :-)

The new renovations look great! The remodel looks very modern and is purpose built for the new post covid normal. There are two separate entrances for dine in and carry out. This makes it easy to get a to go order without walking through the dining room. Or see the hostess without walking through folks waiting to pick up orders. The bar area is larger and it's now easier to eat and have drinks. The redesign also showcases the sushi chefs better.

Only opportunity for improvement is sushi speed. We got our appetizers and entrees and two rounds of drinks before the sushi came. And we ordered sushi immediately when we were seated.

But food is always great, portions leave a leftover for lunch the next day, and the new dining room feels more like a dining experience than just a place to get a bite.

Go early. No just another Great Sushi restaurant. Full menu. I always get them to substitute pineapple for a vegetable because they prepare it so well. Everything is cooked after you order it. Very polite. Fun to dress up to go there. You'll see people you know.

The renovated restaurant looks great. The food is very good. Loudest restaurant I have ever eaten in. Every table was full & I could not hear my wife from across the table, or the waitress. The waitress basically used sign language to ask if I wanted more water. The restaurant desperately needs some sound absorbing soft panels added to the walls or ceiling or both.

Get the Submarine Roll! It's the best! As well as the service.

Great food and service in a pleasant, family friendly atmosphere. Sushi and Sashimi is always fresh and tasty and their other favorite offerings of mine are Spicy Beef Salad, Duck in Red Curry, Crab Angels, Coconut Shrimp Soup, and Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp; but I have never ordered anything I didn't enjoy.

The Chicken Noodle Bowl ROCKS. Staff is always friendly and attentive.

We liked the food and the service was good. The place was clean. I’ve been to the other Surin restaurants and thought they were terrible. This place is different. We’ll be back for sure.

Seems like everyone is having issues with this place. Used to be our go-to when we didn't feel like cooking. Placed a to-go order last night and when I got there, the guy behind the bar charged me again even though I paid online. Luckily we caught it and he took care of it - he was quite nice about it. Got all the way home to realize my chicken dish was actually shrimp - but it was breaded so I couldn't tell from looking at it. They're quite lucky I don't have a shellfish allergy. It's not like it was busy when I went in, they had 2 or 3 tables and the place was empty. I called and they said they'd have my proper order waiting on me. Here's where the problem starts. When I walked in, I made eye contact with the manager who then conveniently ducked in the back before I got to the bar. She may have had something to do, I'm not sure, but she knew who I was and why I was there. As I was picking my food up she then quickly walked from the back into the kitchen. There was no mention of any sort of discount or compensation for having to make 2 trips, and my wife's food being now cold at home because she wanted to wait on me. Won't go back to this location based on this experience, and we're almost weekly customers.
