Sushi Bar and Thai Cuisine
Worth going out in a snowstorm!! This place has the coolest vibe, everything has been delicious and fresh the couple of times we’ve gone. Street parking. Service is fast. This is quickly becoming a family favorite on our “go as often as possible” list!
(We’ve had sushi rolls, chicken pad thai, spicy basil with chicken rice bowl, and a curry dish - all delicious and worth getting again!)
This was a solid 4 stars. Could have been 5.
We got a table right away. The hostess and server were friendly, and helpful. Not sure if it was a staffing issue, but our service was really spotty. Sometimes it was prompt and other times we had long waits, like the time between getting our drinks, and placing our orders. At the end of the meal, I had to approach the hostess to pay our bill.
We had several questions and the service did a great job to help understand some of the specialty rolls. We ended up getting several appetizers including, Crispy Calamari, Pot Stickers, and Sashimi. Then we had a Specialty Roll, Mega Salmon. Liked everything with the exception of the Calamari, heavily breaded/battered, and tasted more like onion rings that octopus. Everything else was the right temperatures and tasty.
Good place if you need a quick meal, but it's not on my A List for Sushi/Asian.
Came for lunch on a chilly day. Lots of sun in the space! Nice atmosphere. Clean. Our server was prompt and very friendly. He checked on us regularly. We ordered three different sushi rolls. I loved the spider roll. Recommend!! Very fresh, tasty. Pricing in line with other sushi restaurants. When we left, everyone including the sushi staff said goodbye. Great visit.
Fye. Fire. Fire.
Food: green curry is my favorite. The flavor hits like none other. All of the veggies working together makes for a great, filling, but healthy dynamic. Deep flavor and some spice. Their sushi rolls with the fish on the outside have the best mouth feel by far. And - drunken noodles? Sheeesh, you can never go wrong. Sooo much flavor. But maybe that’s just bc your boy was a lil hungover.
Service: 10/10. Kind as hell, knowledgeable, and super friendly. Y’all rock w your great staff.
Environment: nothing special, but the food is so good that you’ll be focused on that. And if that’s not good enough, then come with good company, duh. Environment not being snazzy was no biggy. Parking may get dicey sometimes but it’ll work out finding street parking within 1-3 blocks.
This was the most delicious meal I have had in downtown Milwaukee in the longest time. The menu had so many dishes I wanted to try it was honestly hard to narrow things down. They had delicious and fresh sushi that I didn’t get to try but seeing the plates sent over to other tables, they had our attention! I had rangoons and their mango with sweet sticky rice seasonal dessert, unbelievably delicious. Seriously such a great spot and a wonderful staff.
We tried LoveIs roll and Bangkok Dangerous roll, which are both really good 👍. We also got ourselves Pad Thai (good imo, but not for my husband 😂), and the matcha cheesecake. The matcha cheesecake is a bit too sweet for us, but if you have a sweet tooth then try it!
Overall I think the place is worth to try ❤️.

Really great sushi selection, particularly for vegetarian options. Would also recommend the specialty rices and pad thai.

Great cozy sushi bar with even better staff. Highly recommend.
Always takeout, so good
Ordered takeout and it was delicious. Got the crab rangoons, which were uniquely made in small knots kind of like a tortelloni. I also got the Massaman Curry and roti and both were amazing. The Massaman has a rich, very peanutty sauce. Great Milwaukee staple.
Food was amazing, service was great as well. Definitely a top spot in Milwaukee
We get curry takeout every week or so, always good, always on time!
Everything I’ve eaten here is great, but the Massaman curry is out of this world!! It’s so rich and flavorful I could genuinely eat it every day. 10/10 a must try.
The food was good, service was even better - try the mango sticky rice!
Intimate restaurant with good sushi and excellent Thai dishes. The Khaosoy coconut curry soup and Weeping Tiger dipping steak are amazing. They have brown or black rice available as sides or on sushi for a small up charge, which is not common in Milwaukee but makes a great option for anyone watching carb intake. We've been back several times and everything we've had is great.
It's the best sushi around the state!! However, I have some bad experience with the waitress several times. She was so rude during the service and takes a while to serve even when it's not a busy day, and it happened couple times when we made eye contact with her but she ignored. Also she is so rude and mad about the tip!! We tip people based on the service you cannot force or ask someone to tip you!! So if we don't tip, we don't like your service!! But she asked us to pay cash tips couple times!! And she literally was mad at my friend once when she didn't tip her!!! Like seriously?
I’ve tried multiple times to order a simple salmon belly sushi, even ordering in person to clarify that I wanted “JUST salmon on rice”, only for them to mistakenly make it as the nigiri seared appetizer with roe and sauce.
Aside from that, the maki rolls are also somewhat overpriced for what you get. My partner and I spent over $80 for takeout (including an edamame app) to be still a bit hungry after eating.
I dined at Rice n Roll countless times when I lived in Milwaukee. I've tried sushi in other big cities and I still always think about this place. It is seriously the best sushi I have ever had and the mango smoothie is to die for. I would make the trip to Milwaukee from Louisiana just to eat at this restaurant again. A MUST restaurant if you're a MKE resident or just visiting!
My husband and I have been regulars at Rice n' Roll since 2020. We're self-proclaimed sushi aficionados, and this is truly one of the best places for sushi in the city. To the point that we've practically stopped going anywhere else. We've also made it a habit of ordering takeout from them essentially once a week for the last 4 years. Their fish is always quality, and their rolls are unique and incredibly flavorful. We've never had anything here that we didn't love. My personal favorite is the Mega Salmon roll, but we'll order anything off their menu, really, and know that we can count on being thoroughly satisfied with the life choice. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so we usually try to go in person during the summer when they also have the patio open, but it's got a cool vibe either way and a convenient location. And the service is always excellent. Our one and only suggestion is to have a rewards program that doesn't take so long to earn rewards! :) If you love sushi and you live in Milwaukee, this is the place!
Excellent presentation and quality. Everything was fresh and the portions were very generous for the price!
Just got the Florida roll to go. I eat a lot of sushi. This is by a landslide the best sushi I have ever eaten. The rice was perfect, the fish melted in my mouth. Can’t wait to try some of their other foods
The presentation of the food is amazing and the sushi is extremely high quality.
Some of the best Sushi yet, staff are always so friendly and attentive.
Always order to go because parking is impossible unless you are walking. Take the to go to veterans park and have a great day🫶🏻🍱🍣
Had a nice birthday dinner for my husband with our kids this weekend. Food tasted great. We had a bit of everything. Soup, edamame, crab rangoon, sushi and Pad thai. Would recommend and go back. Only negative was the sushi rolls slightly falling apart.
My go-to thai place, it is uniformly good across the board.
The Thai curries were amazing! Great flavor wirh generous servings and a reasonable price. Service was very good.
Service, spot on! Sushi, fresh and delicious! The talent working at the sushi bar is tops! Highly recommend...

Good place if you need a quick meal, but it's not on my A List for Sushi/Asian.
My favorite sushi spot in Milwaukee. The fish is super fresh, the menu has a lot of different options and the staff is very kind.
Came on Easter Sunday and it was buzzing! Our server, Jeht, was lovely. Attentive, timely, and not pushy or rushy. He gave us a kid-friendly water with a lid and straw without us asking for it. I had the chirashi don and my family got massman curry and tom kha respectively. Best chirashi I've had in years. Incredibly fresh sashimi sliced properly. I'm originally from Los Angeles and it reminded me of home. My hubby had been searching for a massman curry to replace his old favorite because they changed their recipe post-COVID and it's just not the same anymore - this is the one. Tom kha was delicious too! (Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the curry and soup.)
Food and service is amazing.
Really amazing food and friendly service!
Deliciousness.
My favorite sushi in Milwaukee thus far, it's cute, the staff are very friendly, and it's consistently good. 10/10 for me!
First time trying and it was delicious! We ordered a bunch of apps for everyone. Our favorite was the eggrolls and crab rangoon. Top notch customer service. We will definitely be ordering again.
This review is wwaaayyyy overdue. Been eating here or getting delivery from here for many years. I’ve tried tons of things on the menu and all are fantastic but I just tried the Khaosoy for the first time and it is seriously the best thing I’ve ever eaten. If you love Thai coconut curry try it. Thanks Rice and Roll for all the great food over the years!!
This place is the best! Great service, great food, reasonably priced. Everyone here smiles and is so kind
Food, service, and atmosphere was all great.
I adore Rice N' Roll and the boba shop next door as well! They always have the best food and the people that work there are the nicest people on earth it's always a good time to see them :3 So happy to have this place in Milwaukee ❤️❤️❤️
The mushroom roll was good. They have a lot of vegetarian options what aren't just plain avocado rolls. The veggie dumplings were my favorite.
My favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. Hope to be back soon
Hands down the best sushi spot in Milwaukee! I've been coming here for years, and they never fail to impress. Not only do they go the extra mile for me, but they go above and beyond for all their customers. I've ordered from them countless times, and they've never once made a mistake with my order. Ever! Not only is their sushi amazing, but I have yet to try something on the menu I didn’t like.
One of my favorite sushi places on the east side. They have amazing vegetarian options for the herbivores or picky eaters. Staff is super friendly and quick.
This is our 5th visit. Every bite we have had has been amazing. The rolls have super fresh ingredients and the flavor combos are delicious. The Mantou appetizer is a must have! The hostess asked what our favorite rolls are, and we listed all 12 or so we have tried! Each one is so unique, there is a flavor profile for everyone! The rice dishes that I have seen come out of the kitchen look amazing as well.
Noticable step up in quality compared to other places I've tried so far, particularly for traditional style fare. Definitely worth coming back, this is easily taking the lead for me for the area, especially with these decent prices.
Always good food
I love this place so much. Service is great, food is terrific, and they’re extremely reliable. An absolute staple.
Great food!
Went before bill burr at fiserv. Was awesome. All the food came out fast. Service was good. Bill was good price for 4 people enjoying themselves
We ordered the chicken satay, the green harbor, and the khaosoy. The flavors just EXPLODED. Absolutely phenomenal taste and appealing presentation. The only thing that we will change for next time is to get chili paste on the side, because my green harbor was spicier than his khaosoy that he ordered extra spicy.
Really annoyed. Ordered 3 meals, they didn’t give me a Miso Soup or fried rice. I literally don’t have a meal and he resaid the order out loud. This was a call in order, I didn’t pay for the things missing but 30 minutes later I’m home with no food.
I wasn't impressed with the food. The crab rangoons were weird, and the crab meat tasted old. Not inedible, but not particularly enjoyable either. Same with the crab in the Classy Cali roll. Some of the sashimi I had was alright, but the super white tuna was awful. Very clearly frozen and also tasted like it was about to go bad. I did enjoy the spicy tuna roll - I like that they don't use spicy mayo in it. And the tom kha was good. The wasabi, though, was soooo weak lol like I know sushi places hardly ever use real wasabi but this didn't even taste like fake wasabi. It was just a grainy, green, flavorless paste. I should be calling an ambulance after putting this much wasabi on a sushi roll. It was literally like 1/3 of the wad they served me in this photo lol but my mouth wasn't even burning afterwards. Also, one of the pairs of chopsticks they gave us was rotting. Which I guess is not necessarily their fault, but it was still an off-putting way to start the meal. And less forgivable with all other things considered. I received prompt and friendly service.
Hands down the best sushi in Milwaukee. Rolls are a bit on the pricier side but totally worth it. Surprisingly, each rolls tastes unique which isn’t always the case at sushi restaurants. Additionally, they have much more good stuff than just sushi. For example, the crab rangoons are much better than any we ate in Chicago’s Chinatown. Entrees we’re solid as well.
The sushi rolls were fresh which was my biggest worry, but that aspect did not disappoint. I was incredibly bummed that I ended up paying $70 for two signature rolls, 6 sashimi, mini crab Rangoon and mini egg rolls. They brought out the appetizers relatively quickly but we waited forever for the rest of our food, which we devoured in under 10 minutes versus 30+ waiting time.
The server was incredibly friendly, and the food was fresh. The ambiance was positive... however, The portion sizes were disappointing and the wait time lagged. We later learned how expensive this area is typically, but don't think I will be back here sadly.
PHENOMENAL sushi & crab rangoon. We just found our new spot.
Rice and Roll is an excellent restaurant. I can't eat fish due to a fish allergy, but the noodles and the fried rice are excellent. I strongly recommend the fried rice that comes in a pineapple bowl. Since having it, I'm unwilling to eat out of non-pineapple bowls. I've never had an issue with cross-contamination, which leads me to believe the kitchen is clean. The service and delivery are always excellent.
One of my favorites! I've been going here regularly for about a decade and it's only gotten better over time.
Incredible food, great service, and no wait around 5:30pm on a summer Saturday.
Wow wonderful
Excellent sushi. We got the lunch special, and for 12$, you get a miso soup or salad, and two rolls. The choices for those rolls were varied, and included all the staples. A good deal!
Service was great, not too overbearing, but not leaving us to our own devices either.
Restaurant was clean and very modern looking, with outdoor seating for those who want it.
Amazing place!
Fye. Fire. Fire.

Some of the freshest sushi we’ve had in years. Everything tasted great from the waiter’s recommendations. Great food and service!!!
This is a brand new favorite of ours! Our usual spot was closed on Sunday so we took a look around and found RnR - I’m glad we did! It’s a cute, little place with an individualized feel but sufficiently spacious. Staff was awesome and perfectly timed, absolutely no complaints.
Food was great: delicious and fairly priced. Sake was fruity and smooth. Appetizers and sushi were not bad by any means but didn’t blow us away - to reiterate, definitely still tasty. Last but not least, the curry we tried was INCREDIBLE. This will definitely be our go-to curry spot for the coming years!
Some of the best sushi in Milwaukee, and a great menu beyond that! Woon sen, gyoza, curry and beef salad are all my favorites--always a good meal
Excellent spot for dinner either inside or out on the patio.
Outstanding options and good service. A new favorite of mine for Sushi. Good vegan roll options.
Delicious sushi and the kindest staff. Highly recommend!
We had a smoky crunch sushi roll, pad Thai, and pad see eew. It was all delicious and some of the best Thai & sushi we’ve had!
The best sushi place going.
Got their green curry, so creamy and great! I love the resto setting too. Nice, comfortable, and warm. Staff were friendly too! Recommended!
It's a sort of standard issue setting, tables and chairs, no particular ambience to speak of.
IT DOESN'T MATTER! The food was fabulous. There are vegetarian/vegan options with plenty for the carnivore diner, too. The hot entree arrived bubbling with a substantial fluffy side of rice.
Our server was the just right level of attentiveness.
I've been here a few times now. Each have been so delicious. Today I had the Milwaukee roll for lunch. Beautiful presentation and so fantastic.
Sushi has always been very good and consistant. Love the curry options (can be made vegan too). Accommodating with spice levels (I like mine medium). Reasonable prices and friendly efficient staff. Great place for a date or a family of four.
Every roll was better than the last!!
It always slaps. Like every single time.
Very fast, friendly service. Great food and lots of vegetarian options. Loved the green curry with tofu.
The atmosphere from the beginning to end was great. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted with a cheery hello from four people making sushi at a sushi bar you can sit right up to. We chose a small table and got some sake for the table. The server was quick to take our orders with considerations for allergies and great suggestions to go with it. The food was incredible. I will be coming again!
Server was very attentive and the atmosphere was laid back. The best part of the experience was the food. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, from our starters, to our sushi, to our desert. Can say with confidence that this is my new favorite restaurant and I will be recommending it to as many people as possible
Liked the place.
Fanatic… 10/10 definitely recommend this place
This was the most delicious meal I have had in downtown Milwaukee in the longest time. The menu had so many dishes I wanted to try it was honestly hard to narrow things down. Really good sushi rolls and appetizers. Service was good and timely. Parking can be a bit of a pain so make sure to account for that when headed to the restaurant
Best Dragon Roll besides Thainamite on the East Side.
Rice N Roll is the best sushi I've ever had! The fresh and flavorful perfectly crafted sushi combined with the generous serving size is unbeatable. I actually considered booking a flight to Milwaukee just so I could eat it again. It's that good! If you haven't been, then you're missing out on some amazing sushi!
Great little spot for sushi for a casual date night on Sunday night! Got edamame, crab Rangoon, and two signature rolls (awesome roll and black and white roll). First, the crab Rangoon was bite size and phenomenal. 2nd, our two rolls were packed with flavor. Will definitely be back.
First time being here and I absolutely loved it, waited very little I ordered the Mango and sticky rice with coconut ice cream, delicious probably the best I've ever had same with the shrimp tempura we ordered, I 100% recommend stopping by and trying something there, the service here is amazing and so is the food I'm defenetly coming back.
Hands down the best sushi in Mikwaukee. This place is fantastic. Their food is excellent. While the Sushi is top notch, everything on the menu is great. We’ve been coming here since they opened, and the service has always, consistently been 100%. They’re quick, friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Highly recommend.
Go to sushi place when I'm in Milwaukee. All around great, aside from the need to park on the streets.
Burke was super friendly and helpful!
Phenomenal sushi! Was introduced to this place by my neice. I've been to Rice N Roll multiple times since. It never disappoints.
Wonderful restaurant with plenty of offerings. Their Khao Soi is delicious and tastes exactly like what you get in northern Thailand. The wait staff is very nice too!
Awesome
Always a great spot for fresh, creative sushi. I’ve been here several times and will continue to be a returning patron. The staff is always very friendly, attentive and the food always very, very tasty! I highly recommend.
Eating dinner must require a reservation.
Great food and friendly service. Highly recommend.
This was my first time having dinner here and I am blown away by the quality and taste of the food. I got the Milwaukee roll and it was easily the best sushi I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was really great as well with hip music and comfortable lighting. What a fantastic restaurant with talented sushi chefs and great service. Would recommend 10/10!!
best tasting sushi without a doubt.
A neighborhood staple but we are so spoiled because it is our favorite sushi restaurant as well! Great dinner entrees, appetizers, lunch, etc. but the sushi is just amazing!!! They also have a great drink menu and introduce specials that are worth trying. DEF come for lunch and dinner! Staff is amazing, always friendly and helpful!
Went here for thai food. 1st Thai place we tried in the milwaukee area. Portion and price were pretty good in my opinion. Taste is good enough to have us come back again till we find some where better.
I order something different each time I go. I've enjoyed everything I've tried! Everyone is very nice and the atmosphere is great
love everything about rice n roll. the food is great and once a huge delivery order was stolen off my doorstep and they remade the order for me how kind and wonderful
One of my favorites during this year. We got some amazing sushi along with basil fried rice, panang curry, chicken satay, shrimp tempura, wings and dumplings - yes that's a lottt of food and it was so worth it.
I love how the wings and shrimp tempura were crisp and flavored to perfection. The dumplings has roasted garlic in them which made it super yum. The basil fried rice with chicken is one of my favorites as well and I love how all veggies and rice blend in so well in this.
This has certainly become my Asian favorite this year - from Thai to Japanese Sushi, I love the assortment of delicacies. I already ordered several times from here this year and I highly recommend the yelp community to give this place a try and you won't be disappointed :)
Il miglior sushi a Milwaukee.
Great service, amazing food, cozy atmosphere. Can’t wait to to come back and try more.
