We stayed one night at Fairmont during our trip to Virginia Tech, Kumo is really a pleasant surprise for us. Three of us ordered Fried Tofu, Edamame, Miso Soup, House Salad and two Ramens. The food totally exceeded our expectations, the waitress (Macey) is friendly and warm-hearted and the atmosphere is comfortable.

Best ramen I’ve ever had. The miso soup was also the best. The restaurant was clean and pretty. They also gave a couple little candies with the check. My partner and I have been looking for a good quality place for Asian food in Morgantown but it looks like we will definitely have to make a few trips to Fairmont instead :)

Atmosphere- 4 stars- clean except the floors are a little sticky. Bathrooms are in a weird spot- shares access with kitchen. The overall look of the eating area is very nicely themed.

The red curry chicken with rice is amazing! The smell alone is enough to drive a hungry person crazy, it's just that good. Ask for it extra spicy if you like that, "It's hot but I can't stop eating it" feeling. It did not disappoint. I'll be back!!

Great place for diverse Asian foods. Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Korean .

We don’t typically drive out of town for takeout, but I have been CRAVING soup dumplings, and a google search led me here.

The serving size of the basil fried rice is HUGE. We laughed when we took it out of the bag. And it has big chunks of veggies. So good. The buffalo chicken wontons are also a lot of fun and different from anything I’ve had before. I can’t think of anywhere around here that has kimchi. The soup dumplings are really good and so easy to eat in the little cups!

Can’t wait to go back and try more stuff!!

Always a great visit. Kumo always has the best ramen arround this neck of the woods. Clean restaraunt great staff never a bad choice for going out to eat.

Crispy ginger rice, vegetable tempura, pineapple chicken & crab wontons. Everything is ALWAYS super fresh & perfectly seasoned. You simply cannot get better food or service in Marion County or the tri County area.

Great place for sushi in an unlikely location. I go out of my way to eat here. Huge variety with amazing flavor.

Their food is always delicious, and the staff are all friendly and efficient. I order take out and dine in frequently - my orders are prepared quickly and perfectly. I’m never disappointed. The menu provides many options for any palate, you gotta give it a try!

My girlfriend and I went to eat at this restaurant and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Scallops, shrimp and mahi were all perfectly cooked as well as the sushi being great. The server was fast and professional. Cooks were crushing it in the kitchen and high volume didn’t derail service quality. We’re definitely going back!

Took my girlfriend here today for her birthday. We have been many times and the food + service is always amazing. Today was no exception. Everything I've tried on the menu is great. The sushi is easily the best in town. Prices are higher than some places but totally fair for the quality

One of the best local meals I’ve had in a while.

Everything was great, but our waitress was excellent!

We ordered delivery and upon receiving our food, our sushi roll was missing.. so we called kumo to let them know and would like a refund or replacement roll- whichever they wanted to do. The manager then gets on the phone and says, “I’m the one who bag order, it was there. Driver stole order.” and “How I suppose to make right if driver steal order”. Just bad business in my opinion, whether the accused driver stole it or not.. Plus, considering everything else that was ordered, I don’t see another box fitting into the small bag that they used. We’ve ordered multiple times and it’s always 2 bags.. Anyway, I get running a business is tough, but if you want to keep business, you need to make things right.

The worst dining experience I've had in years. There was an employee argument in the kitchen. Not sure what was going on but I heard our waiter say to a kitchen staff worker "what's your problem?!" Not a good dining vibe for customers. Our waiter, although kind to us in our interactions, was inattentive. We sat waiting a long time for him to take our order and finally had to get up to ask him to take our order. Our drinks ran and stayed dry. We had to ask for refills twice when he finally came over. We had to yet again get up and ask for boxs when we were ready to leave after waiting for him to come check on us so we could ask. He was on this phone or watching TV most of the time, which isn't an issue if your customers are taken care of. I should also mention that we came during off hours and there were only 2 or 3 other tables.

Appetizers were average. Sushi very good. My Pad Thai was awful. It tasted perfumish and the noodles were way overcooked bordering on mush. I took two bites and decided I was done which I never do. It was inedible.

We've been here several other times in the past and loved it. Off day for kitchen staff and waiter? Maybe but not worth another visit.

Exceptional asian cuisine. Great portions, friendly staff, great atmosphere, and clean restaurants. The only thing I would suggest is slightly better lighting in the restroom; maybe a vanity light would help.

The first time I ate here around three years ago the food was impeccable. However, the last two times I have eaten there both this year. The food has been overcooked and greasy specifically the shrimp. I have also gotten sick from said food. Nobody at my table, Took more than one bite of their food, and the waiter never returned to check on us just to give us the bill.
0.5/10 would not recommend

This is definitely one of my favorite places to go. The food is really good. An appetizer of fried calamari is almost a meal itself. They also have a pork belly kimchi fried rice too.

This place is gorgeous and the staff are incredibly friendly! I have been here three or four times now and have always enjoyed the experience. Plus, this time I forgot my phone at the restaurant and the staff made sure that I got it back.. Will always recommend Kumo!!!!

I ordered szechuan tofu no veg double steamed rice and got a whole onion in my food. I've ordered from here before and just requested no onions which they've always done. I hate onion but even if I ordered my food with veggies in it this is an excessive amount of onion and onion cores. The tofu tastes so strongly of onion now as well that even my boyfriend who really likes onion gagged when he tasted it because it's just so much onion. Legitimately half the dish was onion

This was our first visit but boy was it amazing! Our server was so attentive and friendly and did a great job. Our food was hot, fresh and delicious and made perfectly. The portions were perfect and we even had a little bit to take home for lunch the next day. We were very pleased and cannot wait to go back.

Food is great but If you order takeout, don’t bother showing up for at least an hour. Every time we order it says ready in 30 minutes yet we wait forever until the orders ready.

A big no. Horrible service on a huge order. No attempt to make it right, no apologies. At least 3 missing entrees. Go to Fusion- They never disappoint. Never again.

I wish I could tell you how the food was, but we didn't even get that far. We were sat and were not greeted for over 10 minutes despite 3 servers standing there doing nothing. There were 3 tables sat in the whole restaurant when we were there. They were not busy at all. We tried to wave down a server, but no one came even though they saw us waving. We just left.

We ordered our food for pickup. My father waited 30 minutes AFTER our pickup time and then was given our food. When he got home we realized ALL 4 of our sides were missing. He called and went to get them, but no refund or compensation for the hassle was offered. We will not be returning. Poor form.

this place is hands down the best Asian restaurant in a 100 mile radius easily , the prices are very fair as well and portions are very very generous.
I have eaten here at least 6-7 times and have never ever been the slightest disappointed. This is my favorite new restaurant anywhere close to this area.

I’ve gotten the crispy duck ramen bowl and it’s seriously so damn good !! As well as the mountaineer sushi roll !! I would give those dishes a 10/10 hands down!

The service is great also food is quick and staff are really good! I had a waiter named Isaac and he was really good I mean very good , we eat here quite often hopefully we get Isaac every time.

I usually eat at Volcano's in Morgantown but wanted to give Kumo a chance.

The customer service is outstanding and hostess was wonderful. I picked up a carryout order so can't comment on wait staff.

The food itself, while good, is way too sweet. Much like a version of sweet and sour or General Tso. The specialty sushi roll was so covered in sweet sauce that the soft shelled crab flavor was completely overwhelmed. The Korean chicken was the same.

If you prefer sushi rolls that are more about the rice and fish, then you might want to consider asking for light sauce. If you like sweeter, then you should be fine.

This place is great! Superb sushi has come to Fairmont, WV! The service was great; the food was authentic and delicious and not over-priced. Specialty drinks were delicious; especially the Bloody Mary! We had the Lobster/Fried Rice special; tuna poke appetizer, and Sushi Deluxe. Both entrees came w/ soup or salad, which were terrific. We'll be back!

I have frequented Kumo Japan since they opened. When they first opened, they really came out strong. Very reasonably priced. Their food is still excellent and good quality, however I think some of their menu items are now overpriced. That’s not my main issue with them though. The main issue i’ve had is with the online ordering. For at least the last 4 orders i’ve placed there, my order wasn’t ready anywhere near the quoted. I understand things happen but it’s now the norm. Today I actually attempted to offset this happening. I ordered 1 sushi roll. I arrived 20 minutes after the pickup time, and still had to wait an additional 10 minutes before it was ready. What makes it even more frustrating is that there’s no hostess/waiting area when you enter that is anywhere near sufficient enough to accommodate the traffic coming in and going out of the restaurant. The 2-3 chairs they do have are usually full of people waiting for their orders. The times really need to be adjusted on the online ordering or something. I’m sure I won’t stop ordering from Kumo because their food is so good, and they have reasonably priced/delicious sushi, but I will definitely be taking a break.

Excellent staff that care with delcious food to top it off. We had to get to-go boxes because of all the food but I will not complain; more good food for later! I loved the bubble tea too.

I have opted that every visit I will get something different and to date I havnt found anything that wasn't perfect. its hard because they have several protein options for the same dishes (I found out duck is my favorite for most dishes) so I will continue my mission but I don't see a way I could ever be dissapointed

The food is good, but more often than not your takeout order isn’t ready by the quoted time. I ordered around 1pm the other day and arrived at the quoted pickup time only find out they hadn’t even started making my chicken yet. I literally watched the guy go into the kitchen and say something to the cooks, then they threw my chicken on the grill. There were only a handful of customers eating there so being busy wasn’t the issue. This kind of thing has happened to me many times.

Good food and lots of gluten free options. Especially liked the Bento Box options.

Our server, Ryan, was fantastic.
The food was temperature hot, & perfectly spicy. I was surprised by the small size of the building. I was nicely decorated. The portions were hearty. We went back later the same day for seconds on the sazchewan dumplings & for the pork belly ramen. 😋 The bathrooms were a little dirty but not hideous. We will definitely be back.

We got the matcha bubble tea, satay chicken, sushi, and pad thai. The spider roll sushi was amazing. Everything was delicious and super fresh. Our waitress was super nice and the food came out really fresh. We can't wait to go back!

You would never expect to find authentic ramen in the state of West Virginia, but by golly it *is* here, and it's at this restaurant. I highly recommend the golden fried oysters and the won tons in addition to your bowl!
