We spice up every day with our flavorful authentic dishes that are always served with a smile.
We came to Thai Chili for the first time this week and, overall, had very tasty dishes. As Thai Food "foodies", we are always on the look out for a good Thai place. We ordered the Crab Ragoons, Basil Beef and the Massaman Curry (Pork). Our meals started off with a steaming hot bowl of hot and sour soup which was quite good. The Crab Ragoons were delicious and very "crabby tasting". We both loved them.
The Basil Beef had a wonderful balance of flavors and plenty of mushrooms! The Massaman Curry was the star dish! Absolutely delish! The atmosphere was pleasant and with the exception of a rather sticky table, nice to dine in. We will be back!!
This was a mixed bag for me. The food was pretty good, I would say, above average. I really loved the full mushrooms.. morals I think. That was nice. Service was decent. We were close to closing time, but they were not pushy or anything. The negatives were two fold. First, I really wanted mango sticky rice, but that was like 10 dollars. That seems expensive to me. In most places it's about 6 dollars, at most. So I didn't get that. Infact most everything on the menu was wildly varied in price and it didn't make much sense. Second was the atmosphere... Look I am a big guy, and they put us in a booth that had about 3 feet between the table and you. I had to sit all the way forward on the bench in order to reach the table. It seemed like all the tables were like this. Over all the environment was somehow a mix of both super plain, and stereotypical Thai decorations. It felt like someone took a typical average restaurant and pasted in the first decorations they found in a catalog. Would I eat here again, yeah.... Would I seek it out, probably not when there are such better places nearby
It’s been a few years since I’ve eaten here. Last time, I remember the staff being very attentive. This time, not so much. We were not offered a water refill until after we paid our bill.
When we walked in, we were ushered to the first table. We sat down and immediately noticed a dead bug on the table. Okay. That’s fine. Then we look around to see nasty window ledges, spattered food on the window and curtains, the floor was dirty, etc. if the dining room looks like that shortly after opening, what is going on in the kitchen?
The toilets were clean, but nothing else in the bathroom was. And you have to wave like you’re waving to a relative you haven’t seen in 20 years, just to get a paper towel out of the dispenser. Frustrating.
We received our food in a very reasonable time. Around 10 minutes. The food was very tasty, but spiced heavier than the typical Thai restaurant. I ordered a 2, but it was more like a 3. So, I recommend ordering a 1 if you would like a 2.
My wife had Rama Garden with chicken and I had cashew chicken. She loved hers, but halfway through my cashew chicken, I realized there were no cashews. I knew something was missing.
Overall, the food was good. Would have been better with all ingredients. The cleanliness is poor. And the staff is nice, but inattentive.
We will go elsewhere from now on.
Mook, chef tiger are so amazing. She has the best customer service an I had the best meal I've tasted in decades. The r1 fried rice with lamb and pad Thai was the the best me an my wife ever tasted. It's was fresh an served ina timely fashion
Man!!! This USED to be MY FAVORITE!!! In all areas! I used to always order the beef larb, chicken tom gai soup and two fresh rolls, and a few beers. I don''t know if this was just an off day, but they gave me fried rolls not once, but twice, and totally forgot the soup.. I usually never complain, but when i asked for the rolls to be remade, the waitress gave me an attitude. Sorry to say, I won't be back. SUPER SAD
Update March 2022: still great! Added pics this time. Service excellent, food excellent.Dined in today.
2020: Its been a long time since I've been here but today I ordered through Uber. Its pretty close to my house so the food arrive very hot like we were served at the table! We had the Massamun Curry, fresh rolls, and Kee Mao Noodles. Sorry forgot to take a picture. Every thing was delicious. I like my curry a little thicker but the flavor was great!
The fresh rolls didn't have the usual peanut sauce that most places give the dip that they sent was good (maybe a fish sauce mixture) The Kee Mao Noodles had lots of flavor and lots of mushrooms loved it! We'll definitely order or go there again!
A very great and lovely place!!! I loved their food as I ordered a sampler plate and red curry with pork! It was delicious and a more appropriate serving size which was great! The quality was amazing and I ate by myself where there was no judgement. Water was very good too I love lemon water.

Long curly black hair found in both takeout dishes.
Will definitely go back

Enjoyed my pad Thai!!!

Solid Thai food when I had just gotten off the train and needed some Pad See Ewe
The food taste great but the portion sizes are not worth the trip or effort. Unless you don't mind small portion of food
Took my wife here for dinner and we were not disappointed. We were seated right away, everyone was super nice, and the food was amazing! I usually order the Thai basil chicken😋, but this time I decided to try the Shoo Shee Salmon....OMG! I was not disappointed! Now I'm wondering what other deliciousness awaits on their menu😊
I visited Tacoma Art Museum and searched restaurants near me to find this gem. Absolutely outstanding food, perfectly spiced with attentive service, beautifully presented. One person in our party has food sensitivities and the server recommended how to talk about them to get best results.
I expected more based off what my coworkers told me about. The lady taking my order didn’t listen to me and I got up charged for an item I didn’t order. I couldn’t eat what she rang me up for cause I’m allergic to seafood. The food was bland to top it off, it was not worth the 30 bucks I paid
I stopped in for lunch. The price of $10.95 for their lunch specials seems very fair. The service I received was great. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. It seemed somewhat bland. I will probably not go here again.
I always order their classic fried rice and every time it is absolutely delicious! They're super fast too.
This is one of the best places in Tacoma to get spicy food and some of the best Asian food in the area.
Great tofu.
ITS SOS OSOSOSOOSOS GOOD PLEASE GIVE AND RESPECT THE LADY SHE IS SOSOSOSODO NICE AND AWESOME FOOD WAS SO YUMMYYYY
I usually come here to order red curry to go and food quality is good. But today it was so bad, it was basically inedible. Zero flavors! Curry sauce was basically dirty water.... not only i feel cheated, they should probably compensate me for the time and effort it took me to go there.
It was around 9pm when i ordered, and they close at 10pm. I don't know if that has anything to do with the poor quality, but cmon!
Unless I'm offered an apology, and a promise that this won't happen again, I'll never order from this place again.
Went in for an early dinner this week. Noticed the place was empty and fortunately I found out why before ordering. I was greeted by a German roach (type that lives indoors and causes infestations). We left immediately, because if they're on the table in broad daylight, they're definitely in the kitchen.
Great atmosphere and amazing food,
Definitely coming back again.❤️❤️❤️🩵
Incredible food. I got the garlic pork. They made it spicy.
I’ve been coming to this location for over five years, almost every weekend. The service here is usually great but their new server Sarat is terrible and EXTREMELY rude.
I place a phone order 30 minutes before picking it up, I came in to pick it up 35 minutes after calling. I’m waiting to pay and ask if he can take tap and he says “yeah, it’s waiting on you” with an attitude for no reason. I pay and ask which one is mine and he says “it’s not ready yet, I said 20-25 minutes.” So I proceeded to tell him I called 30 minutes ago.
Just a bad experience after a long day at work. A server has no reason to be that rude. Probably won’t come back again, I’ll just go to the next location.
Very cheerful, helpful server. They like cash payment.
Chicken pad Thai, delicious and huge portions. Spring rolls, delicious. Garlic chicken, delicious.
Tom Yum soup with tofu was yum yum.
They were very attentive and our server was absolutely fantastic. Had a great time here, water was always filled and the food tasted great. Really enjoyed my drunken noodles and fresh rolls! Everything our table ordered was tasty. Will come again!
Very good Thai Tea and kind employees!
I used to like this place, but this place isn’t good. I wanted to vomit today after eating. Nor is this place authentic. I like the atmosphere, but if you want better quality and real authentic flavors, try out Loak Toung Thai. Seriously, best Thai food in Tacoma hands down. Hole in the wall. Sadly they’re closed until Feb.
I ordered the Thai Chili Beef with sticky rice on the side. It looked nothing like the photo on their menu. The menu photo shows a very dark sauce similar to chocolate, and the beef looked extremely tender and juicy and covered in sauce top to bottom. The consistency also looked thicker, The meal I receive was way over cooked. The beef was so dry I couldn’t eat it. It was disgusting. The soup today, the one they serve for free, was also disgusting. They put sweet chili Thai sauce in it 🤦♀️ It was weird tasting and the flavors didn’t seem to blend well. Last but not least, the sticky rice. The stick rice was gross. Lots of hard spots where it was inedible. This isn’t real sticky rice. Idk what kind of rice they try and sell as sticky rice, but I can tell you that, that ain’t it.
Sticky rice doesn’t actually stick to your fingers. It’s a finger food. It sticks together.
To cook sticky rice properly, you need a glutinous rice and it needs to be soaked for several hours and then steamed. It’s delicious. They’re also not the only Thai restaurant that does this, but if you’re gonna pay $4 for it, make your own. It’s very easy and don’t use google for instructions because they have incorrect information about it. As far as the server, she was nice. She took the order and served my food. No check-in in between.
There’s way better Thai restaurants in Tacoma with the same price point. If you want real thai food, I highly recommend anywhere else lol. Not sure why they think their food is authentic. I can get everything they serve here at any other Thai restaurant besides their signature Thai Chili Beef dish.
Posted photo below,
I had phad Thai with tofu and it was delicious! The sauce was almost sweet and sour with a vinegar undertone. It was unique and really good. I also had papaya salad which was perfect. The service was friendly and the atmosphere clean and family friendly. It was a great experience and I will go back.
Good fast lunch service at a reasonable price. Chicken Rama and garlic chicken were both good. Servers attentive.
Excellent Tom Yum soup.
Love this place food is amazing and service was great
I just ordered chili Thai on Uber, it came piping hot and I'm always very reluctant to order the panang curry because most places just don't make it good and it was spot on.
I just ordered pad see ewe with an order of crab wonton through Uber Eats. I had special instructions for each order. Not only were the noodles spicey(5 star like I ordered), but they were saucey, and cooked perfectly! The crab wonton showed up warm and crispy, they even made sure to cut a vent in the Styrofoam to keep them from condensation. 5 stars for a busy Friday night. Definitely not affordable to eat every day, but worth it tonight.
I ordered Pad Thai with LEVEL 2 spice. Good flavor but the chili peppers took over the whole dish and I only asked for level 2. That was way too spicy for my liking. It wasnt just a mouth burn, it was a whole different level of spicy. My face and chest was on fire more than my mouth! Unfortunately I couldn't finish it.
Ordered Uber eats. Arrived quickly but was bland, very greasy, and barely edible.
Simply the best!!! We have tried pretty much every Thai restaurant in a 20 mile radius. Nice people, interesting decor (we are getting food to go), and the best food. No MSG that I've found. (I keep forgetting to ask - it just isn't there.)
A very great and lovely place!!! I loved their food as I ordered a sampler plate and red curry with pork! It was delicious and a more appropriate serving size which was great! The quality was amazing and I ate by myself where there was no judgement. Water was very good too I love lemon water.
Stayed to eat my meal while I waited for my husbands take away. Service was nice, the Tom Yum soup will always be a favorite. :) came home and wanted to say my husband FELL IN LOVE 🙂 with the Pad Thai chx dish, out of all he said this one was the best best ever had!
Very popular with locals
I would call it adverage Thai food...
I have been ordering here for years but tonight it was 10/10. It seemed like it was just made a lot better for some reason. Thank you!
When I didn't tip, the waitresses got mad even though they get paid per hour
I ordered my food using UberEats, it was made and came to my door within 30 mins since ordered.. that was good but we ordered the curry and house spicy noodle level 5 (very spicy) and they are not spicy at all. Like level 2 at best.. I ordered from here before so I know what level 5 normally tastes like. I can hardly see any signs of chili inside our foods.. plus the noodle and the tofu came soggy.. very disappointed so I don’t think I’ll ever order from here again 😢. There’s better thai restaurants in Tacoma.
Hands down the best Thai food in tacoma.
Been getting chili Thai for a few years. Love the fried rice and pad Thai
I come here at least once a week. I placed an order to go and came to pick it up. Once I got home I realized my order was wrong. I call to let Chili Thai know and the girl that answered the phone was very rude. She asked what was wrong and I told her there was raisins in my pineapple fried rice and then she says well what else… I said it was also made with brown rice. She then proceeded to lie to me saying they didn’t have brown rice (which was a lie because I ordered 2 sides of it for my husband) so I tell her that’s not true etc . So then she tells me to tell DoorDash so I can get a refund. I tell her I didn’t order through DoorDash so she says come back tomorrow but I won’t be here so I’ll tell someone. Well that was Thursday last week and today is Monday. I come in to get my replacement and of course nobody knows anything about it. I understand mistakes happen but the lying and rudeness is what irritated me and then I drive all the way here to get a replacement and nobody knows anything about it. I spend at least $50-$70 a week here and it’s disappointing so I guess I’ll start going to the Puyallup location.
I love chili thai! amazing food and the kindest staff!
Actual 1st time being there oh boy was it delish grabbed the thai beef lvl 3 spicy I probably could have handle the 5 the yellow curry was yummerz also cant wait for next visit
Literally the best Pad Thai I've ever had, bean sprouts were fresh and delicious
We've been here a few times now and everything has been great
Always have had a good experience at Chili Thai, no matter which branch!!
The flavors were awesome, but I don't think my food was fully cooked. I know when some places are in a rush or have too many orders they tend to overlook things. Undercooked meat is something that should not be overlooked. Someone can get really sick and can be fatal if not careful.
Very clean, nice place with great food and service
Delicious food, great prices. We don't live near by if we find ourselves in the area, we'll be back!
Still waiting after 20 minutes for hot tea. Mentioned it twice already to the waiter. Only 59 degrees in the restaurant so not comfortable at all. Turn on the heat!
Food is hot waiter very accommodating even speaks some Spanish!!! Give them a try 😉
I love the food here! I have to come here for the Tom cow Gai! Every couple months! The coconut ice cream with toasted coconut flakes over the top- is SO FLAVORFUL!!
I usually get take out but the pineapple fried rice is bomb!
The best chicken pad Thai!
On 09/24/2022, I ordered Chicken Pad Thai via GrubHub from the 3213 S. 38th St. Tacoma, WA. location. Since moving to Tacoma, I've been going here for quite some time, I usually go pick it up myself but every now and then I have it delivered. Boy, has something changed with this restaurant, maybe new owners, new cooks, I have no idea what changed other than the quality of their food. The Chicken Pad Thai was absolutely inedible. First off, when I opened the container I saw the noodles sitting in an orange in color pool of grease. I was so hungry, I pulled from the top of Pad Thai, took a few bites but the noodles were way undercooked, I couldn't even chew them. Not much chicken in it and what was in their was so tough to chew, like it was overcooked or been sitting out and dried up. This is the worst food I've ever had from them. This place use to be really good, but something has definitely changed here. I have been a loyal customer and not only going inside to sit down for dinner, to picking up food to go or having it delivered every now and then. Maybe having food delivered, they just don't care about what they serve out of their kitchen. I ended up throwing it away it away, might as well of lit $23.00 bucks on fire. I will never order from them again. I live 2 miles away from this restaurant and I was the delivery drivers direct run, meaning he didn't have any stops in-between. Time to find a new Thai Restaurant that cares and takes pride in what they serve out of their Kitchen!
Very good. Pretty authentic with good service.
Pad Thai and mango fried Rice are my go to dish💕💕💕so delicious!
Good food mmmm
It’s been a few years since I’ve eaten here. Last time, I remember the staff being very attentive. This time, not so much. We were not offered a water refill until after we paid our bill.

Service and food was good as always.
Excellent Drunken Beef
Always great.
The food was not fresh 😕
Nice place, very clean, food was decent but a bit cold with good flavor. Had the pineapple fried rice. Love the fresh tomato slices in it.
Good food, a little pricey for the amount of food.
El servicio un poco lento
Update March 2022: still great! Added pics this time. Service excellent, food excellent.Dined in today.

Delicious 😋😋😋
Good prices, great flavor, and excellent service. What else could you want.
The cashew chicken was great!
Tom Yum is so good, love the mango sticky rice, Pad Thai. Very tasty!! Really nice people.
Great service and fresh chicken. Satay, just the way I like it! Or even better .
Picked up take out, waited for order. 12$ and change, but did not tip since I wasn't dining in and didn't have a server. Charge on bank was 14 and some change a few days later. Assume they added a tip even though I crossed that area out. I'll never eat there again on principle...never seen a restaurant do this.
Love this place! Great food and wonderful customer service. Everyone working the register has always had the best customer service
The seafood Tom Yum here is TO DIE FOR!!!! Everyone was really nice. Good spot to check out specifically for the Tom yum.
Very good food and staff. Especially vegetarian dishes are awesome
Pleasantly surprised. Needed Ty meal
Had not been here b4. Small, uncrowded and very tasty.
My favorite place for pad see ew in Tacoma! My wife and I would order here all the time. When I go in, they’re very pleasant and busy, which can tell you that the food is great. However, lately our to-go orders, including Uber eats, (which I recognize a business understandably doesn’t view the same as dine-in customers) the to go containers are literally half as full as they used to be. I understand it’s a business, but with such small portion sizes, it may be worth going to one of the many other Thai places in Tacoma
Thank you for always having food ready for Doordash drivers
I placed an order last night and not only was the food delicious, but the order was complete and nothing was missing.
I like the service the food and the ambience. Its pocket friendly and clean.
Best Thai food around
Great fresh rolls and Pad Thai
Ordered for takeout. The food was ready pretty quickly. I got a spicy curry and my partner got very spicy. Only issue was his wasn't spicy at all- to him.
So, for those that like things unreasonable spicy (I.E the halfway mark on Hot One's), this may not be the Thai place for you.
Oh, I am allergic to shrimp and forgot to note that on the order. It didn't matter though because there wasn't any cross-contamination! Awesome because I am running low on benadryl.
Staff members are always nice and attentive.
We've been going to Chili Thai for YEARS! Last night was another great meal, we get 3 or 4 different entrees then share family style between my husband, son and myself. Then we look forward to yummy lunch leftovers the next day. We're in Gig Harbor and it's so worth the drive over! 38th, and the one in Puyallup of the freeway are our two favorite locations.
WOW!!!! We ordered several dishes for delivery for a banquet dinner, and we were absolutely blown away by every single one! In a very long stretch of covid-delivery meals, this is a shining star. I particularly recommend the Tom Kha and wings!
Great Thai place in Tacoma
We are "regulars" now =] These folks are very clean, allergy-conscious, and will work with you on dietary issues! The Pad Thai was just amazing! *Thank you, Chili Thai for having vegetarian and vegan entrees!
I went there on valentines day.... BEST VALENTINES DAY EVER!!! The pad thai is the absolute best. Probably my favorite place to eat 10/10 recommend
I had the Tofu Pad Thai here and omg, the Tofu was cooked perfectly, and the noodles were not too spicy. The staff was friendly and helpful when it came to questions about the menu, and how things are prepared. I am Vegan, how my food is cooked is very important to me. I definitely intend on making this place my go-to thai spot.
Thai food is, generally, a staple in many vegetarian diets. So I was surprised that they didn't offer any vegetarian fresh rolls. I asked if it would be possible to replace the meats with tofu, and was told that they could definitely do that! No problem! Imagine my surprise when I pick up my food and the fresh rolls have shrimp on them. I bring them back, explain once again that I wanted vegetarian tofu fresh rolls, and am assured my order will be correct. I get them and open it to see no shrimp or chicken, but also no tofu. I go back, three times I'm ordering now, and explain in explicit detail what I wanted. Lo and behold, when I receive the new, "correct" rolls, they've got chicken and no tofu.
This was only ONE of the orders that continually got messed up. I'm not ever going back here, it shouldn't take four tries to get an order correct. Meeting up once is forgivable, but that many times? That's just inexcusable.
Pad see ew. Chicken. Flavor was OK, I've had better. Not much broccoli in it. If I tried this place again, I'd get something different. This was my first time trying this place so idk about the other dishes. With Covid going on, can't really judge customer service. I ordered online and then when I picked up my food it was very simple.
Food wasn't quality. Barely any rice for a huge container of curry. We asked the curry to be least spicy and the drunken noodles to be very spicy. My toddlers burned her/his mouths and my husband had sweet drunken noodles. I wish they would be more careful when applying spice. Making sure it's the right plate that gets spiced up. Pad thai didnt taste or look like pad thai. .. pretty much not impressed overall and will not be returning.
We had purchased our order through DoorDash, and the order was incorrect when it arrived. I called and they offered to make the correct order for us if we could pick it up. They were super apologetic, and even threw in a couple of Thai iced teas to say sorry, which was so sweet of them to do!
The coconut prawns are soo stinking good and a goood size. Pad thai is big enough to share. Pineapple fried rice isnt a sweet treat like you'd think but may be my new fav rice! This is a MUUUUST try
Really enjoy every time we come here. Food is great and service is always very nice. Pad Thai with added pineapple :)
We really enjoyed our food at chili Thai. The young man who waited on us was friendly and very helpful. I had glass noodles with lots of vegetables and my husband had the lunch special, garlic chicken with rice. Both were very flavorful.
Great food
They have roaches everyone. There was a baby roach in my friends drink. They are infested don’t eat here yu are consuming roach feces.
My friend found a baby roach in her drink DO NOT eat here! If you could do zero stars i would.
Delicious and consistent.
Thai Chili is the best. Spring rolls A+, Phad Thai A+. Service for pick up was great. The food is hot and tasty. We love this place.
Great food and service
My brother and I had arrived by 8:15 to meet our family for dinner. The guy working, was preparing our table and assumed only two. I had told him, it’ll be a family of 5 total— as the rest of my family walked in. The server immediately stopped and said, “we’re closed.”
The hours of operation on the front door, their website, etc.. states they close at 9pm. It’s obvious the sever did NOT want to work. It’s obvious the server did NOT CARE for any business.
Food was too fishy smelling for my liking.
Excellent service and delicious food. Love the place!
Horrible customer service. Order was incorrect and the young lady was physically dismissive and SO rude. Would not rectify the situation at all. I don’t recommend
Working construction in Tacoma from out of town. Ordered to go and didn't get utensils or napkins. No way to eat our food. Over tipped, felt sorry for the girl at the counter.VERY UPSETTING AND FRUSTRATING!!
Great food. Great prices. Great service.
I deeply wonder if Chili Thai is under new management. The service has gone from extremely high to abysmal. My wife and I ate there often and was pleased with the service and food. However, we noticed a difference in the service and quality of food over the last few visits. This included phone orders.
The final straw for us was or first visit after the restaurant reopened for dine i. n service. The waitress was more rude than she had been prior to the closing
Deliciously fast takeout. Thanks!
New cook, very bland and dry
My husband & I love coming here. This is our go-to Thai food take out whenever we crave for it. We haven’t had any problems with their services and food always come out delicious & on time as they would say.
I ordered fried egg rolls and rangoon and it was fried to perfection however the taste was nasty. The crab rangoon has these chunks in it not creamy at alland the dipping sauce was too sour. The fried spring rolls were mushy inside. Did i mention i paid $18.00 for these 2 items. Yea, this was a true mistake.
