My husband and I have tried over 20 different Thai food places all around the Tacoma/Puyallup/Auburn area and the Pad Thai at this location is hands down the best Pad Thai we have ever had. Absolutely incredible. So flavorful and everything was so fresh! The calamari was extremely fresh and delicious as well. The drinks came well presented, tasted fabulous and service was incredibly prompt. The owner greeted us and helped serve all throughout the restaurant, clearly taking pride in what she has done with the place. Absolutely beautiful decor and can’t wait to experience the outdoor seating in the summer time. I can confidently say we will be returning and I already look forward to it again!

We were able to sit up on the balcony with umbrella tables with a nice view of the water/bay. I had the Crispy Garlic Chicken with spice level 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5. I probably should have ordered rice with it to balance out the spice, but it was still an incredibly tasty meal. Love the chicken, love the crispy, love the garlic. My family tried various dishes like Yellow Curry, tofu vegetables, salads, etc. and we all left happy and filled! Try it out.

I really loved this place!! Food was amazing! only downside is that it's a bit more pricey than other Thai restaurants in the area... but the location and vibes and great food make it worth it! It's close to the waterfront and boardwalk, really great location.

Wild! I love this place. Located at a beautiful location that has really nice views and offers outdoor seating. Spring rolls are a must! So are the crab Rangoon. Pad Thai is a must and so is the garlic chicken. I was impressed with the cleanliness of this establishment. The food was made fresh and served quick. Prices are reasonable considering the large servings.

The only nice thing about this place is the location. Right by the water @ point Ruston. Staff is super sweet, the aesthetic is really cool and they make the meals look presentable. However the food is not tasty. No flavor. Your local Thai place will be 10x better I promise you. And 10x less cheaper lol.

Food presentation - 5. Decor - 5. Value - 1. Authenticity - 1. False advertising for restaurant and for menu items; for example it is not authentic food and it is not Thai street food as they claim. And on the menu for example "Isahn Style Papaya Salad" was not Isahn style. In fact it was not even real Thai style; there were no Thai chilis in it at all despite us ordering spiciness level 7 on a scale of 1 to 4. When we complained of no Thai chili in the salad they brought us a sauce tray so we could add our own red sauce and ground pepper. We were bewildered. So were the servers - they had no idea what items on the menu were or were supposed to be. Thai ice coffee tasted like just regular watered down Americano with milk, not the thick sweet black spiced Thai tea with half & half. And all menu items were very overpriced.

I had to move a sign from in front of their food inspection rating from this week. We decided not to eat at a restaurant with "needs to improve". The bar was better-rated, and that sign was displayed.

This place has a really cool atmosphere. We went and they weren't very busy. My chicken was pretty dry. We asked for things spicy but our food was mild. My husband enjoyed his Tom Yum soup.

Loved the atmosphere. Came here on a Sunday for lunch. I enjoyed the beef rolls and pad thai. I would say a 2 star is pretty mild, so if you like heat I would do a minimum of 3 stars.

Excellent veggie yellow curry. Friends took us here for an early dinner and we will definitely make the drive to eat here again!

Location is the only thing they have going for them. We ordered 2 apps and 2 mains. Only one of the apps was edible and only one of the mains. The beef short ribs looked and tasted like beef jerky nuked in the microwave. It came with mixed veggies that looked and tasted like a frozen veggie mix microwaved until it was just defrosted. We didn't even eat it. When they cleared the plate, they asked if we wanted a box but didn't even question when we said no. $$$$ wasted. If they had better food, with this location, they could be packed every night. Can not recommend.

The place overall was great! The staff were friendly and helpful! The food however was just okay. I would go back to just try something else.

Yummy thai food, we enjoyed the Boat Noodles and the Trout. Service was a little lackadaisical but pleasant. The atmosphere can’t really be described but you will enjoy considering the decor as you dine.

Overpriced food. Any normal dish is $34+. Have your checkbook ready. Selection is not what you see in Seattle or in outskirts. I recommend Thai on Everett Greenway or on Steps in Seattle.

First visit disappoints. Prices ridiculously high for rather poor food, not really done right at all, some ridiculous shortcuts used such as simply mixing cheap frozen veggies with rice and frying that mess and charging $32 for it! Pathetic! Acoustics so awful, you have to shout to hear yourself, so everyone shouts and noise hurts ears and head. So noisy, when band started playing you could hardly hear the music. Horrible, will never go back.

Nice atmosphere and big portions! No complaints on our meal. We ordered Pad Thai, Crispy Garlic Chicken & Red Curry. That plus a Thai iced tea and 2 sides of rice came out close to a hundred after taxes and tip.

Boran Royal Thai is an absolute gem! If you're craving authentic Thai flavors with a side of stunning views, this place is where you need to be. I’m pretty sure I heard the angels sing when I bit into the spring rolls.

The first time I went was at lunch in May and it was so good. I couldn’t wait to go back so I talked to my family into coming again the end of July. The vegetables weren’t stirfried like normal. They were on the raw side like it was rushed out. Our pork fried rice was missing the pork I told two of the weight staff, and they both ignored me. The cashew nut chicken stirfry came out, barely warm some parts of it was cold so I was confused. The dishes all came out far apart. I’ve voiced, some disappointment and they just acknowledged it and walked away and then our waitress went on break and sat 20 feet away from us and ignored us the rest of the night till another waiter REALIZED that we weren’t being helped any longer
What a waste of $125 Prices are on the high-end for the portion

The Turneric rice taste really bad , the curry I have , Please do not even try it … it is almost like a congee , no flavor , the sizzling cha cha seafood is ok , but the server who brought it is , she got her hands all over the food , and then she gave us a warning , be careful it is really hot , and we told her , you touch the food all over though 😂😞😞🥵we eat all over , we know how does a Thai food should taste , for the price we paid we deserve a better service and a good tasting food .. I understand it’s a week en and it is busy but still don’t seat people if you know you will make us wait way too long for our food .. At least we gave it a try .. At least the restaurant is in a nice area

Really slow service…my plate is still empty and so was my belly after over an hour of waiting… I couldn’t tell you about the food, haven’t had it yet… we’re a foodie who eats out at restaurants at least twice a week, but this restaurant is the worst experience we’ve had and has nothing going for it. Such a let down…

We had stopped by here last year on the North Tacoma Wine Walk and had a drink at the lovely outside bar. Such a wonderful location. I've been wanting to return since then to try the food and finally did so in May. I liked it so much, I returned in June! The atmosphere is so nice and the staff is lively. The food...REALLY YUMMY! I had the mixed vegetables with chicken and ate the whole darn thing...both times! Just be careful about the spice levels. I ordered no spice, but my friend ordered a 3 spice level, and I guess it was SUPER hot!!

This place is especially nice in good weather as it is located near the water...with such a nice view...and wonderful to walk around Point Ruston before or after you eat. Also, as in all restaurants at Point Ruston, if you park in the garage, when you get to the restaurant, click on their QR code and your parking is paid for!!

My Sundays are a beautiful delight here. While eating, I sometimes see the Eagle sore over Puget Sound. The food is very good. This is one of my favorite places to eat.🐯🐯

I've never had Thai food before, so this was a new experience. It was super yummy and had large portions. The staff was beyond friendly and attentive.

Love the food here! The cashew dish with tofu was excellent. The hostess was so kind to help us get a table for a quick brunch on Mother’s Day even though it was very busy.

Worst service ever. The hostess took out order and not one time did the waitress come to our table.

The food was incomplete and the service is not great. Pad Thai lacked flavor and green onions. I had to cook most of the dish myself and we had to wave the server down a few times to get noticed. The view and atmosphere is fantastic, crepe cake was good too!

I dined in earlier this week on a Wednesday. Our server was fantastic. She was accommodating and recommended all sorts of cocktails and food for us that we ended up really enjoying in the end… no issues with our server and the food/drinks. I did have one issue where an older woman (who possibly seemed like the owner) frequented around our table making us feel rushed and uncomfortable.

When we had first sat down to dine in, our server had already checked on us for drinks and appetizers where we weren’t ready yet… Immediately after that, the same older woman came up to our table asking if we were ready and we felt pressured so we ordered our appetizers with her. Throughout the dinner, the older woman kept coming up to us asking if we were ready for our check or if we needed anything else. She would also keep sending our server to the table but nothing was needed at the time as we just wanted to relax and drink our cocktails. Great food and drinks but we didn’t get the experience we would have liked here at the restaurant as we felt rushed even though the restaurant wasn’t super busy at the time.

Our server Chris was awesome. My first time at the restaurant amd he explained the menu and his suggestions were spot on. Thank you, Chris!

Compared to the first time I ate here last year, this was such a big improvement! My server Chris was very attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. With having dietary restrictions, he was able to guide my table through the menu to help with substitutes for our food and even our Thai tea!

The food came very fast, and our server was always on top of making sure our waters were topped off, and that our needs were met! I highly recommend this place, if not for the food, then definitely the warm and welcoming staff!

My experience here at the restaurant was Ok, as I was seated with my family of 4 & ask for a menu there was plenty of optional foods, while the waiter fill up my cup with water, I was about to drink it, but then I realized there was a Dead tiny fruit fly bug & dust in the glass, I ask the waiter for a new one & showed her my cup, but she said it's just bubbles, there's nothing to worry about! Then proceeds to walk away, I wasn't done talking, so I ask her to come over at my table & showed her my Glass of water again & tell her to look closely and all she said was! Oh! Ok... After that! She went to grab a new glass of water & never apologized for the inconvenience caused nor offers to replace the rest of my family drinks. & she was rude when I told her that all of the glass needs to replace cause my kids found dust in it & it looks like the glasses where just sitting on the table for awhile & not flip them downwards to prevent them from dust or bugs in them. So Anyhow, the food we ordered was blend, my sons chicken was soggy, the ice Thai coffee i ordered was watery & no taste, the decors in the restaurant is Nice and beautiful for pictures.Also, They need to Train their workers for of how to give people a good customer service & also Mannerisms as well. Also, The tip is too high 25% & Not 18% as stated by Washington Laws. The Tip shouldn't be giving, But it should be optional. I have no problem with tipping if the Service was Any Good, since we paid for that 25% with it & our total was $380 for small portion of food & not much Taste in them.

The food was good but not great. It was partially cold. The presentation of food was beautiful, so my eyes were fulfilled. All of our crispy skinned food was drowned in sauce, which means no longer crispy. The wait staff was not very engaging, and it wasn't even busy.

We got seated but kept getting ignored. We had 4 different people pass us by saying they'd be right with us. We had a young lady finally bring us water and asked us if our order had been taken. We told her no, and she said she'll get someone. But no one ever came. We just left. We were excited about the place but were really disappointed about the lack of service.

Good food in an inviting atmosphere and some of the tables have beautiful views of the Sound. Not a lot of vegan options, but the vegetarian items had wonderful flavors.

The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful! However, all I wanted was a nice dinner with my boyfriend and I did not get this. We had spent all day doing home renovation for a senior family member of ours, so I wanted to treat us to a nice meal. The server (who turned out to also be the restaurant manager?) served my boyfriends food to the wrong table, and left it there for probably around 10 minutes before the table it was served to pointed out they didn’t order the dish. The restaurant manager realized his mistake and took it off their table, and turned immediately around to serve the food to us. The manager told us that the table told him they had not touched the food, but the dish had been spilled over and there was even a shell from an eaten mussel on the plate. The restaurant did not comp our meal what so ever, and had entirely expected us to eat food that was rejected from another table. I will never return due to this, absolutely disgusting practice and is completely against health code.

Food is ok, but I think chicken satay was deep fried instead of grilled. And it's pricey, so I expected more fancy garnish.

Normally there‘s no bar in Thai restaurant. But this one have! The food tasted so good and so many options. Worth to try it out ,new color of Washington !

The food is really good. Ten bucks for a pot of tea seemed excessive. The service was excellent. We will go back again, but we will never need tea that badly.

I love Thai food, I admit it. And this place has some of the best Thai food I've ever had in the US. Staying in a nearby hotel and the front desk did not give a ringing endorsement for any of the usual PNW fare spots. They suggested I try this spot and it DID NOT disappoint. I had the short ribs and spicy string beans. Both were fantastic. Truly. In fact, they were so good that I ordered more just so I'd have leftovers to take home, as well.
Service was great. Our waitperson, Am, was kind and attentive. And willing to engage with random questions about the restaurant. So patient also!

Wow!!! The Best Thai Restaurant ever!!! We meet the owner, Poom. She told us all about the interior design of restaurant. Poom was instrumental in pulling her ideas and talent and created a beautiful atmosphere here at Boran. Kwan, our server, was personable and helped us to make some great selections for lunch.

I don't usually leave reviews, but I have been to this place multiple times and every time the food has been delicious and the staff has been incredibly kind and accommodating . Hands down the very BEST Thai restraunt in the area.

Amazing time and great food! Unfortunately we had a furry friend with us so we were unable to go inside BUT the owner came out and said she made the outdoor dining area SPECIFICALLY for customers with pets who still want to enjoy the cuisine! All of the staff were so sweet and kind, my family and I had such a great time.

We visited on 2/10/2024 to celebrate a birthday. The owner, operations manager, bartender and staff that night were absolutely amazing. They turned on the fire pit and heat lamps for us outside patio since we had a dog with us. And even brought our dog a small snack. Everything we ordered on the menu was so tasty! The whole night was memorable. Excited to see what this restaurant looks like in the summer nights.

Wonderful and authentic Thai restaurant in a great location. Their curry dishes are always spot on and drinks are terrific. The staff are gracious and attentive. Highly recommended. We've been there a few times now for lunch and dinner.

I like Boran Royal Thai Cuisine at Ruston in Tacoma. The restaurant is decorated beautifully on the inside, and it's right by the water.

My wife and I ordered 3 to 4 dishes each time we went there. Some dishes are good, but some dishes are just okay. The crab fried rice, for example, was beautiful and delicious. The chicken wings are crispy and served with sugary syrup chili peppers. I wish they had used the sweat Thai chili sauce from the bottles, and it would have been better. The calamari is from the squid's body (no tentacles), but it goes well with the dipping sauce. The banana blossom salad was the fourth dish we ordered. I thought it was fresh or steamed, but it was previously cooked and bagged. That's what they used to make this salad. I don't know if it was pre-cooked or if the chef used it straight out of the bag. My wife and I didn't like the texture as much, and I got sick from it. Probably my stomach couldn't take it. Not so much the salad per se.

We’ll be eating at the restaurant again, but maybe try something different.

The food at Bo Ran royal Thai cuisine is absolutely fantastic. Chicken pad, Thai spice, level four is unbelievable. Kwan was a rockstar of a server. This is without a doubt the best Thai food in Tacoma.

Amazing experience! The food was delicious and you can tell it was made with high quality ingredients. The best customer service and a beautiful ambiance and vibe! Can’t wait to go back.

My husband and I love Boran. We come here all the time and the food is delicious. Our favorite is the Ribeye basil bomb and the shrimp stir fried. The drinks are also really good and it’s a super cute/romantic place :) we highly recommend!

I was so unbelievably happy with the service I received today. The bartender Ana was the absolute best. She made me feel welcome and cared for with her kind smile and great conversation skills. The drinks she made me were to die for. Overall great experience and beautiful restaurant.

Denise was a really great server! She made sure that everything was up to our spice level and even made sure to bring more spices over when we needed it. Overall the food was great and the overall atmosphere was amazing. Very cozy and intimate vibes. Will be coming back!

Great food but poor service. We were ready to leave when nobody even took our drinks order for more than 25 minutes. We were left totally unattended while people who came after us were already enjoying their appetizers. Coincidentally, the owner saw us leaving and she made us feel comfortable by offering a discounted check to make up for their lack of service and also brought our food much faster than expected.
Kudos to the owner but staff needs to undergo some serious training.

I ordered the red Thai curry with chicken and Pad Khee-Mao with fried tofu extra spicy for takeout. The dishes were packed really well, and the Pad Khee-Mao was delicious with just the right amount of spice. The fried tofu was a perfect addition to the dish, and the dish came together so well. The red curry had a good amount of gravy and chicken and had good flavor, but it was not spicy enough as ordered. It’s worth noting that the dish doesn’t come with rice, so don’t forget to order it separately. The service was fast, and the food was ready on time. The interior of the restaurant was nice with good ambience

I loved Denise! She was such a great server and very attentive to our needs. My pad keeps mao was a tad over cooked and very smoky with each bite. The Wonton Soup was so stellar though. The football was distracting but I also enjoyed it. The best part of the night was definitely Denise recommending the soup!

Came here for lunch today. It was quite busy but the two servers that were there were outstanding. Kwan and Kayla were both very sweet and quick. Food was great and glad it was sunny today to be able to enjoy the view along with great food. I will be back

The hostess answered the phone twice before after we arrived at the podium. Between calls we asked her if there was a wait and she said she didn't know. After the second call she finally acknowledged us and told us we could go to the bar. I explained to her that if we wanted the bar, we would not be waiting for her. She then told its was a 60 minute wait however we heard her tell a larger party that the wait was only 20 minutes. She tgen sat tge larger party down within 5 minutes. There were multiple couple of color that expressed the same concern and were still not seated...one still waiting after over an hour. After meeting with a manager, he only apologized and made excuses for his hostess. Not sure if we are gonna stay but the experience was so off putting that I would not have changed the review. As we were leaving, a couple without a reservation was seated immediately.

My friends and I had an excellent experience at BoRan. The service was fantastic, very welcoming!
Food was authentic and good. For appetizer we had crab Rangoon which was delicious. For main, we shared seafood fried rice, crispy trout, tofu pad Thai and Tom yum gong soup. Everything was great, and our favorite was the crispy trout. Finally we tried the crepe cake which was also tasty.
Great location, could see the water out the window.
Will definitely be back to try more dishes! If you’re looking for a nice meal with great scenery and a place to walk afterwards, this is the place to go!

Super friendly services and delicious food

The food, service, and atmosphere were all spectacular. They made me and my guests feel like the visiting royal family. I truly can’t say enough about how wonderful Keila and her whole staff were - I would highly recommend.

Our experience here was incredible. We got a water view and the staff was really friendly and funny!
The whole restaurant was pristine, especially what you can see of the kitchen. Bathrooms were polished and sparkling!

We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was executed VERY well, one of the better Thai experiences I've had this year! Highly reccomend, 11/10 will go again.

Reccomend the duck and lychee curry, bamboo flower salad, and the crepe cake!

We went to Boran Royal Thai Cuisine in Ruston. The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday which seemed unusual. The waitress took our orders, and that was the last time we saw her. We kept having to flag down other servers. Our food was delivered by another server. My boyfriend ordered Massaman curry with tofu. When it arrived, it had meat instead of tofu. The corrected dish came with tofu, but the potatoes were not cooked. I ordered chicken satay which came with diced cucumber. The portions of chicken were very small and was very dry. The cucumber portion was microscopic. We also ordered Thai iced teas. They were served to us in plastic to-go cups instead of a glass, as I had seen were served to other customers. The teas was overly sweetened. One would think Thai tea at a Thai restaurant would be good, but not at this place. The tea was undrinkable. The service was terrible! The food was not good. We will never eat there again!

Mediocre Thai food, and drinks. We went on Friday evening August 25th for a reservation at 6:30pm and waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Staff was very unorganized for a very underwhelming crowd. For about 12 tables and 5 front of house staff, they still were taking upwards of 30 minutes for drinks and 45+ for food. It was not the absolute worst but for the price, it should be far better.

This luxury restaurant brought me a extremely amazing experience. I definitely come back and enjoy my free time in here again. I would recommend Royal Crab Fried Rice in here for all of fan of Thai Food

Disclaimer:Sorry totally forgot to take photos. Dined here with a couple friends since we haven’t tried it and have walked by many times while visiting Ruston. The location and atmosphere is awesome. Lots of out door seating which is nice during the nice summer months with a nice view of the water. We had good service and our sever was was in top of things, checked in on us often. They have a large drink menu and the drinks look great. Not much of a drinker but the wife and friends we were with all ordered drinks and they said they were great. As for the food it was okay, I ordered the Pad Se Ew which is my go to if green curry isn’t on the menu. They have red, yellow, and massuman curry but not green…. I didn’t think my food had enough flavor or the amount of flavor I’m used to having when I order this dish at other Thai restaurants. If I was to come back I’d probably order something different. The fresh rolls were all right, there was a lot basil in them which was over powering. So unless your not a big basil fan I wouldn’t recommend them. I feel like for the price you can get better tasting Thai food else where but I guess your paying for the location. But the service, location, and atmosphere made up for the alright food. Our friends and my wife said their food was good so maybe I was just being picky. Give it a shot you may like it.

Great view, delicious food, and worst service I’ve experienced in years. We waited at the host stand for quite some time before someone greeted & seated us, waited to be greeted at our table, food took forever and the drink I ordered was served 30+ minutes after I ordered and had very clearly been sitting on the bar the entire time because it was warm & flat. The restaurant was only about half full and they clearly didn’t have enough people working. The people at tables around us also appeared to be waiting a long time for every level of service. Bummer because the food was really good.

The food is delicious, great appetizers & drinks. Everything is cooked great and the flavors are so fresh and flavorful. We also had an amazing waitress named Kayla- she was so sweet and also offered to take photos of me and my friend! (The restaurants aesthetic is very sheek). Cant wait to come back again. All around a wonderful experience.

So many good restaurants in Ruston. I would not recommend this restaurant as one of your selections.

Food was not fresh. Noodles and spring rolls were "rubbery" and difficult to eat. The Garlic Chicken was not even edible. Don't order an appetizer, unless you want it to come with your meal rather than before. 3 bites into the meal, and we were done.

Sorry, but this place rates as the worst Thai food we have ever had (sadly).

Sunday is always busy and full of good vibes at Point Ruston. During our family walk we were going to stop by the ice cream spot the line was ridiculous and somebody threw something absolutely foul in the trashcan and I couldn't bear to smell it and stay in line.

We are glad that led to us finding this restaurant. We got prompt service and a nice view outside watching people come and go and surprisingly was very calm. The bar side looks pretty awesome and would be looking forward to coming back and sitting on that side in the future. We got plenty of appetizers, all of them delicious and dish art was beautiful. Opal was one of the staff working there and she very pleasant to talk to and kind and got my son some fruits so that he would stay busy while the rest of our meals were on the way. I really enjoyed the vibes for the family and no doubt will be back again.

The food is amazing, the service is great, and the Thai iced tea was to die for. Seriously, next time I am ordering like six glasses.

The hostess was extremely accommdating with our seating needs, and we ended up sitting in the bar area, which was very chill and quite lovely. The yellow curry was one of the best I’ve ever had.

The service was okay, I was very unimpressed with the food. Our Calamari was very odd and did not taste good at all. The Crispy Garlic Chicken was very overcooked, way too sweet, and had no garlic flavor. I was hoping this place would be better especially for the price.

Had lunch here with some friends from out of state. Service was prompt and professional. My companions said their food was good but the papaya salad was not what was expected with papaya noodles, not fresh papaya, and a bit of a sour kraut taste. My crispy chicken was low on chicken and high on a batter that was very tough and chewy. I was disappointed and was only able to eat a little more than half because it was so hard to chew. Left a bit hungry.

The first time I came here, the food was quite good, the display was beautiful, the scenery was beautiful. I will continue to come back and support the restaurant ❤️

My partner was happy with her food so I'll give 2 stars instead of 1.
It took them a long time to get the food out, we had to ask about, never a good sign. When we got the food mine was cold, so I had to send it back.
When I got my food back it was half of it cold and half hot, clearly microwaved.
I told the waiter, they said they said they would take care of it. When my partner was almost done, I got mine back, microwaved again.
I told the waiter, said I couldn't eat food that was microwaved twice and still half cold.
The manager came over, told me they did not even have microwaves in the restaurant. When I went to the toilet I looked into the cooking area and they have at least 2 microwaves.
When they brought the bill, we were billed for both meals and all the drinks, so I asked the waiter what they meant with 'take care of it'.
They went back to the manager, he came back and gave me half off for the meal that I hadn't eaten.

Over/under cooked dishes, missing ingredients, bad service; won't be back.

Came in at 8:00 PM on the 4th of July. As sometimes in the restaurant business, things went wrong. I lodged a complaint with the waiter. Right away, I had multiple people, including the owner, making things way more than right. This impressed me more than if things had gone perfect. So, if you're looking for higher end Thai restaurant where they truly care about your experience, give them a shot. You won't be disappointed. I know we'll be back.

Good food. Servers were friendly. Happy hour on the weekend in the bar from 3-6. Place has a beautiful interior.

Food is okay, I like the atmosphere but I’d prefer the other places around this area. I guess if you want to pay a lot just for fried rice this one is right for you.

For me it was just a one time thing. I The portion size is good but the food was marginally okayish. Not delicious as I anticipated. It was oily. I have had better Thai food. Not worth the money.

Came here for a lunch date on a Saturday a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful sunny day, so there were lots of people out and about. Fortunately, my date and I had the entire bar area to ourselves as we dined; made us feel like we rented the whole joint out! 😅

I ordered the massaman curry and she ordered the pad Thai. We also grabbed an order of veggie egg rolls as an appetizer. For drinks, I ordered an Arnold Palmer and she ordered a hibiscus mojito. Let’s start with the drinks, shall we?

The mojito was great! Refreshing, tasty, not too strong but strong enough; it was great. The Arnold Palmer was mediocre at best. Tasted watered down with both the tea and lemonade flavors being pretty weak, even upon first sip. Left a lot to be desired.

The veggie egg rolls were awesome! Crispy, good filling, not soggy or filled with oil. Cooked just right and had a delicious dipping sauce on the side. Would’ve eaten two orders!

I’ve tried so many different versions of pad Thai at this point it’s crazy, but this one was pretty solid. Good noodles, fresh veggies on the side, good flavor, good spice level, and all of the ingredients were cooked well together.

The curry was amazing! Massaman curry is my go-to when I eat Thai food, and this one rivals some of the best I’ve ever had! Creamy base, sauce was nice and thick and not watery, veggies were cooked to perfection, and it was a good size portion. Only thing I could’ve used more of was more peanuts in the dish! Other than that, I was very pleased with the curry!

Total price: $81+

Drawbacks of our visit:
-Our server was absent and/or hard to track down for most of our meal, even as a majority of the restaurant sat empty.
-I had to get up twice and ask for something: my rice that should’ve come out with my meal and refills on water.u
-Our check was not delivered by our server, but by a hostess; who also took our plates and dishes before we were even finished with our appetizer) She had us put our remaining egg roll on the pad Thai dish to take the egg roll plate, which was strange.
-The restaurant seemed to be very well staffed (almost too much so)
-The atmosphere was a little stale, no music, only Mariners baseball on the tv’s in the bar (which was alright by me, but may not be everyone’s preference)
-Paying $4 for a side of rice that, at almost any other Thai restaurant, comes with the dish I ordered is kind of silly. Especially after having to wait an extra 10 minutes for them to bring it to the table after I got up and asked for it.

Overall, the food was the best part of our experience at BoRan Royal Thai Cuisine. For the price of the meal for the two of us, I’d hope they make a few changes to a few of the things I mentioned above, but the food was excellent, so kudos to the kitchen staff!
