We had the crab wontons, filling, satisfying and so delicious. This place was Pen Thai yrs ago. Family owned, very kind and friendly; great service. Highly recommended.
Parking with a wheelchair was tricky. We parked in the lot behind and the neighboring restaurant was kind enough to let us go through, since this restaurant has stairs on the back side. Wheelchair accessible from the front, we used to leave the place but getting back around to the back has steep turns that are not easy to navigate. Will definitely plan to go earlier for future so we have a better path as the other place was closed when we left.

Excellent service and wonderful food. The atmosphere is so so so beautiful. This is really attention to detail on every level. You will really enjoy your experience here. I had the cashew chicken and the wonton appetizers and my guest head the phad keep mao
and it was just all delicious and beautiful
Outstanding to say the least! Thank you Chantanee Thai for a such a wonderful meal. Our appetizer and entrees were served hot and they had such an abundance of aroma and flavor. Our waiter provided timely service and was pleasant. Highly recommend this restaurant.
It’s been a long time since I’ve come here. The service continues to excellent s. Staff checked on us multiple times.
There’s plenty of parking in the parking lot. Which is on the opposite side of the pedestrian Street.
They tend to make things a little spicier. I normally get a three star but when I come here I get a two star. Which seems to be perfect. The noodle dishes are always a go to. I recently had the Pad see ew.
The wait staff stood very Close and hovered making us feel like we couldn’t enjoy our conversation and evening out. They approached our table way too many times even when we just stopped eating to chat they swooped in and asked if they could take our food or a package of our food at one point I had to ask are we holding up your table? only 20% of the restaurant was actually filled. The spice was way too hot. The fresh rolls were clearly not fresh and were super sticky and not yummy at !! The prices are far too high for what they bring to our table. But the decorations in the room were nice.
Keep in mind I travel to Southeast Asia. If you're an American who doesn't get out much, you might think this place is pretty nice. I can see the effort.
However, if you are well traveled and are looking for a genuine southeast experience in Bothell, what you'll find instead at this establishment is an approximation-ish. Thai inspired at best.
My lemongrass chicken was made with chicken ribblet meat, probably the cheapest cut on the bird. The bill didn't reflect that. Wasn't very impressed. Again, I see the effort but being traveled I've been spoilt with really good food at very economical prices abroad. Americans don't know food like that.
Pretty tasty Thai cuisine. The Pad Thai and curries are a favorite.
DEELISH. I loved everything we had, plus we had a super sweet server.
The best thai food!
Amazing. Most authentic Thai place I've been to. My Thai aunt and cousins only go here when they're in town. I've been coming here since I was a child and I recommend this place to all of the people I meet. Best Thai restaurant I have ever been too. Definitely worth the price.

I really love this place! Everyone is so kind and the food is delicious. My perfect order is the Tom Kha, Panang Curry, and Black Rice Pudding.
I started going to the smaller restaurant in Bellevue over 25 years ago when I worked nearby. Julie and her crew made me a lifetime fan! So many dishes are unique to her restaurant, and I always had a difficult time deciding since they’re all amazing. I will try to make it to Bothel.

Food is not authentic. Service is good. But most important is food.
I had the Sizzling Beef. The beef was tough, very tough. I made the mistake of taking a piece of beef without cutting it, not that their was a knife to cut it with. It took over a minute to chew. A plus was they could make it gluten free.
I love this restaurant when dining there. However my Door Dash experience was bad. It was Pad See Lew with beef. Half of the brocoli was raw and old. The overall quantity seemed much smaller than when dining in. Flavors were good.
Excellent service and amazing food. Morgan was our server and she was phenomenal.
Used to know as Pen Thai, they must have went through a rename. Food is still the same, and still great!
I visited Chantanee Thai on my first day in Bothell, hoping to satisfy my craving for good Thai food. I decided to order Pad Kee Mao, but unfortunately, it was very oily, and the quality and flavor were disappointing. Having tried Pad Kee Mao at various Thai restaurants, this one was my least favorite. Additionally, the service was a bit slow.
Sizzling鸭咖喱挺好吃的!沙拉很咸,减一分吧。
We picked up a to-go order. The food was delicious!
Amazing Thai food. I’m definitely coming back!
My favorite Thai restaurant! The crispy garlic chicken is delicious. The panang curry is deep and rich.
Best Thai Food in Bothell. Thanks for always making me happy and full. Two of my favorite things.

Pretty good Thai food, Thai tea a little too sweet, pad kee mao is superb (drunken noodle common name) and other dishes were good. The heavenly beef was a little too sweet in my opinion. Be sure to tell servers 1-5 for spice level I love spice but many people out in WA can't hang this caters to the locals and 5 is not very spicy. 3/5 spice on pad kee mao was delightful though very balanced. Open seating and with the bay door open the breeze was awesome.
Food was great
Service was great
Wishes: A bar and outdoor seating and this place would be perfect. (They do roll up the front window wall when hot & do have good drink menu options so still darn good)
Best Thai food I’ve ever had
Good spice levels. Sat us quick and had us (reliably) in and out.
Very attentive service and thefood was great.
I have been coming to pen thai with family since 2006 and was a customer of chantanee atleast since 2011/12. My friends and I we were bummed out that chantanee was closing in Bellevue because it was like a family and I used to visit once or twice every week.
Recently, my team was planning for a Thai lunch and I was looking for some options. I was so ecstatic to see that chantanee is open in Bothell!
I drove my team from Queen Anne to Bothell and we absolutely enjoyed every item we ordered. My team thanked me for a great suggestion. On our way back, folks in my car casually mentioned about something was weird about the service and I agreed. This lady was always in a hurry (just for our table) and never came back to ask if everything was ok, we need a box etc., There were just three other tables and things weren’t crazy and it felt like we were not treated well.
Last Saturday, I come back to another waitress and she was amazing and the food was amazing.
I came back this Saturday (1/20), I met with the waitress with an attitude. At the beginning, I didn’t think anything but I know she would always be in a hurry so I ordered everything at first. After I am done with the lunch, 5 minutes go by, 10 minutes go by she never came back to my table. When she came to nearby tables couple of times, she acted like she didn’t hear me and walked away. Finally, I walked to the front and paid my bill and left a 15%tip even though I was upset. She has the audacity to ask if something was wrong with the service. I would have given her a lesson that she should’ve thought about it when walking away from nearby tables as though you didn’t hear me and never came back to ask if I want a box or order any dessert or anything.
I really wish Chantanee Thai the best but this kind of service whether it is profiling or what is unacceptable. I would have never expected this at Chantanee.
I love this place, really miss the presidential table at the old old location in the hole in Bellevue…. This new location is great. Food and staff are still the best! (Galen says Hi Julie!)
10/10
Makes delicious chicken phad thai
Their chicken pad Thai was saucy with more of a tomato sauce to me, which I don't care for. The yellow curry my daughter had was good, and so was the chicken satay we ordered. Service was a bit slow, and they sent out our appetizer of ckn satay with our meal. Hoped to get it before so we wouldn't be starving waiting on our food!
It’s been a long time since I’ve come here. The service continues to excellent s. Staff checked on us multiple times.

I googled "Thai food near me" and this place popped up. I clicked on THEIR WEBSITE menu and it showed me prices for $11. I called and placed an order for 3 dishes... each $11. When I went to pickup, my total was $53. This was confusing so I asked how much each dish cost and they told me $16. I showed them their website and prices stating $11 and they said its old. She told me prices hadn't been that price in years. I asked why it was still on their website and she said it's because I looked on Google. I told her I wouldn't have known to search your website name if I didn't know where I was going to eat. Google suggested the restaurant and I clicked on their website. She told me she couldn't give me the food for $11. So I asked to speak to a manager. Another lady came and told me that she wasn't the manager and then told me the same thing. This is false advertising and prices advertised on their website should be honored. Som told me that the website gets updated all the time. If thats the case, why keep old prices up? She tried calling the manager for help but they didn't answer. I tried calling the manager too and haven't heard back yet. I'm very disappointed. Be careful when placing an order for pickup.
Attached photos were taken today from their website. The bottom of the page says 2023. So this is not from an old listing that had I randomly saved from 10 years ago.
For 30 years in many locations I have enjoyed Chantanee. It's still great!
Went with a friend who ordered a 4 spicy and I ordered a 2. Pretty sure they mixed them up as the pad Thai was much hotter than her dish and bright red. They switched it out, but came back and told me it was a 2. I like spicy food and enjoy Thai so this was not my first experience, but there is no way it was a 2. I was sweating it was so hot. The replacement they brought me had no spice at all and was even a bit sweet. We won’t be back and will stick to our regular Thai place.
This is my go to Thai restaurant in the area. Always consistently good and family owned.
Best pad thai
The food was really good. There was extremely clean in there. I ordered the pat high it was really delicious 😋
The veggie fried rice is why I'll go back there again. So good 👍. Friendly staff and enough space for team lunches and gatherings.
Nice new restaurant. The food is good and affordable. We had the Cashew Chicken, Penang Curry with added pineapple and cashew nuts, and the Chantanee Pad Thai.

Had a taste for pineapple fried rice and decided to try this place out. Ordered pickup so I can't attest to the service or even the ambiance as I didn't pick it up. I do have some judgement on the food though.
The pineapple fried rice was good, though the rice could have used a tad more oil/flavor. I was disappointed in the meager amount of prawns it had considering the $6.50 upcharge. For $28, it was lacking.
Ordered fried rolls with a spice level of 4 and extra Plum sauce. I received ONE tiny container of sauce with barely a tablespoon in it. The rolls had no spiciness whatsoever so I'm not even sure why they even offer the option if they're not going to honor requests.
Panang Curry was probably the highlight and savor of this review. Good texture, tons of flavor, spice level on point and tofu for days. If they only had that level of consistency with the other entrees.
This place also seemed to be the only Thai restaurant in the area who has been able to find ripe mangos in early September. Their mango sticky rice was delicious though I wish the mango, rice and coconut milk had been packaged separately for easier transport and reheating. By the time I was ready to eat it, everything was room temp.
Overall, it was okay. Might have had a better dining in, but at least try the Panang curry.
Solid Thai food
Very nice staff.
In from out of town and we love Thai dishes. We ordered Pad Thai and Panang Curry, both with chicken. I give the Pad Thai ⭐️ ⭐️ it honestly tasted like BBQ sauce had been added to it. The Panang Curry was just okay. Crazy but the rice was sold separately, have never seen that before. Rice goes with this dish and shouldn’t be sold separately. The service was good. The bathroom smelled bad and it wasn’t the air freshener. Obviously will not be back.
Excellent food at reasonable prices.
As a frequent enjoyer of thai food, i would say thay the food is honestly just okay. The phad thai is just noodles, meat, and spice. They should add more vegetables with the dish such as onions, carrots, etc. As a 5 star thai food enjoyer, I found their 5 stars to be spicy, but lacking in the complex taste associated with more spices. Hoping to see more effort in the future.
I ended up taking this home and cooking my own onion and garlic to add to the dish.
I'll check back in a while and will update review if this improves.
From the jasmine tea to the Panang curry and an amazing beef salad, the flavors of this restaurant are worth driving for.
the worst Thai food. I love Tom Yum soup very much, but what they have is not Tom Yum. It’s terrible
The pad kee mao and panang curry were great!
I love this place! Everyone there is very friendly and nice. Food is great and their ability to handle food allergies is top notch.
Food was very good
This was really hit the spot. I got the changanees thai with beef and 1 level of spicy, and it really had my gears turning. Definitely gonna come back and demolish some more of that 👍👍👍
Great amazing food great service
I feel fortunate to be able to walk to this restaurant, we get takeout regularly and are always very pleased... So good.
Solid tasty Thai food. Probably the best phad Thai I've had. We got the royal curry, thinking it sounded like yellow curry. Yes on that. Very good for sure, and the Thai ice tea was rich and strong and sweet. Maybe too sweet. My son's phad kee mao was also tasty. In some ways it was more flavorful than our favorite --Irene Thai. Yet, It lacked some of the can't-stop-eating-meshes-perfectly flavor combo. It's also a bit on the pricey side. That being said, I would happily go again.
Terrible food. Watered down, flavorless curries. They charge double the price (of white rice) for a tiny bowl of brown rice.
Ordered Pad Thai (Tofu) - Spice level 4. OMG! It was so yummy! Thank you for the tasty food, Chantanee Thai!
Consistently amazing!
Fantastic Thai and great service.
Great food and quick service. We had a large group (11 people) during dinner time and it was great!
I read some of the 1 star reviews and I am just baffled. I have been coming here for YEARS (probably close to 20 years). I am very sensitive to Thai food, I think it mostly has to do with the spice and grease and that upsets my stomach. This is the ONLY Thai restaurant I eat at. Years ago, I brought my parents here and they feel the exact same way- it is the ONLY Thai restaurant they will eat at. The food is a little on the pricey side but the quality and taste is a very noticeable difference. My parents now go here so frequently that they know a couple of the staff very well and by name (to the point where they bring things to them from vacations they take)! It is noticeable to me that they are very busy, a LOT and sometimes the service suffers slightly because of that, but that is all restaurants. When it is not busy, it is amazing service. For anyone that has had a bad experience, I urge you to try one more time. If I could give 10 stars, I would!
They are always nice whenever we come to eat here! Love the food and they got a good coconut martini there that’s a must try.
No. I love Thai cuisine and enjoy it a couple times a week, but this place is my least favorite. Service is wonderful, it's the food and the atmosphere that throw me off. FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world 🌎
Checked out their website, as Google maps listed them as a single $ and I was looking for an affordable dinner option. Pad Thai is $17-18, depending on your choice of rice. Taxes, and if you decide to leave a tip, you'd surely be over $20. I would suggest changing the price symbol to either $$ or $$$.
I was craving Thai food and wanted something local. Checked out there direct website and loved the family story. Ordered delivery on doordash, wish I could of ordered directly to avoid third party. Anyways, food was delicious. I encourage you to make your own rice. Only because it's cheaper.
Crispy Garlic Chicken - Level 2
Chantantee Noodles with Chicken - Level 2
Panang Curry with Beef - Level 2
Rated 1 star as there isnt any option to rate it below 1.
I am a foodie and Thai is my favorite cuisine. So I mean it when I say it that this is the worst Thai food I have ever had. In addition, we had a take out order and they forgot to pack us rice (in spite that we paid extra). When we called same day, they didnt respond. Then they kept ignoring my calls for a week. After repeated follow ups i finally got to talk to their manager and he bluntly refused to even compensate. Also, it’s way too more expensive for the kind of service or food they have. Worst experience ever. Also as you walk pass the kitchen you could see the messiness around which is not pleasant. Definately NOT recommened to even try, if you are looking for a delightful healthy meal.
Good food reasonable pricing.
Very good food and service.
Best Thai food anywhere. Service is very good and the staff is professional and friendly.
Absolutely wonderful service, and fast and amazing food! We ordered pad Thai takeout and sat outside and the server notice that we were enjoying ourselves and brought us some water! We didn't even have to ask! They also came out and took our trash for us when we were done even before we had left, it was so sweet.
I ordered off of doordash, the amount of food that was given was miniscule probably because it was an online order. Flavor was good and its the only reason its getting a 1 star.
The crispy garlic chicken was perfect!
I’ve ordered twice from this store. The second time I ordered the cashew chicken and I’m very disappointed in it. I selected the chicken option when ordered online, but it has only tiny pieces of chicken in it, and not even much of the tiny pieces wither. I was expecting a lot of chicken in a dish that has a work chicken in it.
Service and food were great.
As an enjoyer of their take-out menu, it was a pleasure to enjoy the ambiance of this restaurant in person. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming and the food was delicious. I ventured away from my tried-and-true Pad See Ew to order the Chantanee Noodles with 3/5 spice and I’m glad I did! 😙👌
Very good!
We enjoyed a lovely meal here today and have to rave about both the Pad Thai and the #61 Phad Khi Mao- I will be dreaming about that particular dish with it's generous amount of fresh, healthy vegetables, which is why I chose the dish, perfectly cooked wide rice noodles and a delicious combination of seasoning enjoyed in every delightful bite (seasoning choice was one for both as neither like really spicy food). The Pad Thai was not gummy at all and nicely seasoned. We both had Tofu in our dishes. Neither of us is Thai food experts but we do know yummy food when we eat it and this was absolutely the best Thai we have had in the area. Can't wait to go back again on Date Day!
We continue to enjoy this family-run business because of the friendly staff and amazing cuisine. The fried rolls are cooked just right and their Phad Se Lew is always consistently melt-in-your mouth tasty.
Food was ok. Service was sub par.
The Heavenly Beef is truly heavenly
Update* The owner refunded our order as promised. Thank you for amending the issue. I hope to have the opportunity to try your restaurant again in the future. Updating the rating to a 4 as I have no yet had the opportunity to try the food.
Our Au Pair from Thailand really misses Thai food so we thought we'd try this place out for dinner. I placed the order online at 2:19pm for 5 menu items and got a confirmation it would be ready at 2:39pm...oops I could have sworn I entered 5pm pickup. Anyhow I called when I saw this (time stamp 2:26) and the lady who answered said everything was already done. Really...they made 5 dishes including fried rice, pad thai, a soup, curry and mango sticky rice in 6 minutes...? They are faster than mcdonald's! lol! I explained the issue but the lady was annoyed and rudely hung up on me not allowing me to speak further. Just wow...
My favorite Thai place ever. The crispy garlic chicken and Heavenly beef are too good to even describe. We get multiple orders of each every time we go. You should go there. Seriously. Why don't you want to go there? Whatever. I never liked you anyway.
Best Thai place in Bothell!
Great food every time
Great food! The best Thai we've had! Great service! We will be going with regularity
Don't let their name change for Pen Thai detour you, same great authentic food as before!
My first time in the town and I needed a familiar style of food to eat. The waitress was bothered by me for some reason. Everyone else in the party she helped with no issue and smiled. My food, was the only dish on the table that no one could give a positive review on. I ordered the crispy garlic chicken and pineapple fried rice. Two dishes i’m familiar with. It was not good. I took one bite of each and refused to eat anymore. It tasted like pure salt. The server didn’t look at me nor did she acknowledge my request in private to remove my dish. I ended up paying for it and leaving it on the table. She greeted everyone goodbye and gave me death glares. I would not recommend going here. Super disappointed. I’m glad my family had a good time. I guess I offended her… I didn’t say a word of disrespect.
Fantastic dinner at Chantanee. I hadn't stopped in for several years. Julie and the staff were absolutely delightful. I had calamari, Thai and warm saki. Everything was on point and we truly had a great time laughing and reminiscing about my past visits . Do yourself a favor and check them out.
Best Tom Yum soup around! I’ve tried 90% of the Thai restaurants in the Bothell and Woodinville area and Chantanee has the best version of this soup. If you have a picky eater, this is a safe bet since it’s sorta similar to chicken noodle soup (but with rice instead of noodles).
Nicest staff ever!!!
Not to much higher than the average price for a meal these days but so worth it. Best Thai food I've had in some time.
10/10
Really nice family-owned establishment. Good ambiance, prompt service, and tasty dishes. Only complaint I can muster is there wasn't enough spice. Maybe I'll just have to stress a bit more on that point next time.
Been going here since I was a kid. Best Thai food around. Always flavorful and spicy when requested. Love their phad Thai, garlic fried rice and Panang curry
We love Thai food. And Chantanee Thai (formerly Pen Thai) is our favorite. Cashew Chicken is my usual “go to,” but I recently tried their Princess Favorite, a light curry with veggies that also includes cashews. I ordered it with brown rice. Oh. My. Goodness. Best thing I’ve ever tasted. The rest of my family usually orders their Chicken Pad Thai, and they all agree. Chantanee Thai is the gold standard against which all other Pad Thai’s are measured.
I have eaten more Thai food in my life than is probably sane; and I can definitely say, this is the single best Thai food I’ve ever had. The cashew chicken, pineapple fried rice, and Phad Thai are absolutely incredible. Their fried tofu is the perfect combination of crunchy and chewy, and all of the food was the perfect eating temperature when it came to the table.
If you want something sweet and creamy to drink, ask for their Thai Iced Tea. It tastes like a liquid cream cake, and is the most gorgeous shade of creamsicle orange! Their hot green tea and jasmine tea blend is also absolutely lovely.
Their waitstaff is also absolutely sweet and very attentive!
I’ll definitely be coming back as often as I can!
I loved the simple beauty, and clean feeling of this restaurant! The food was great, and the entrees served perfectly.
Food had nice flavor and the staff was pleasant . At first the price seemed a bit high in relation to the average sized proportions. But having a restaurant that was clean, the staff friendly and the food satisfying made this a worthwhile experience overall.
Very good food and service. We will be back.
Fantastic food and super nice people! My favorite Thai food ever!
Always great food and quick service.
Excellent and I didn't like thai food maybe I do now
All of their food is delicious!
Best thai food in the state.
I’ve gone here since I was 2, and is still the best pad Thai I’ve ever had!
I've been eating at Chantanee, both at this location and in down town Bellevue when it was open there. We even had our wedding luncheon in Bellevue! Have NEVER had anything but the absolute best Thai food and outstanding service. The Panang Curry puts my wife in heaven (yes, we had it for our wedding - along with 30 family members!). Heavenly Beef, Crispy Garlic Chicken, Tom Yum and Tom Ka . . . I could go on and on, it's all out of this world. All I can say is, I make the drive up from Issaquah just to see my favorite people and eat their incredible food!
Consistantly delicious. Easy take out and very friendly staff.
My favorite Seattle area Thai restaurant, great food and service
The Pad Thai, Panang Curry and Crispy Garlic Chicken on this planet. Thank you Julie and Pen Chantanee!!
My favorite place for Thai food ! They allways take great care of us.
I've been going here since it opened but moved a ways away. I always stop here when I'm in the area. Authentic food and warm staff.
One of my favorite Thai restaurants. Great food and service!
They prepare a beautiful meal. The food is flavorful, spice levels are excellent, and the service was exceptional.
Incredible. Definitely a place I like to bring guests. Lengthy menu offers many options. I've mostly stuck to noodles and curry and haven't had a bad experience yet.
