At Naung Mai, we view every guest as a member of our extended family, earning us the endearing nickname “Thai Kitchen.” Our cuisine is derived from the heart of Chiang Mai, and we proudly bring Thailand’s vibrant culinary heritage to our community.
Really enjoyed this spot. They offered much of the typical thai restaurant options you might be familiar with. Enjoyed the sampler Platter and the basil fried rice.
Only thing is they for sure pulled their punches on the heat level, I should have done "Thai Hot". Their 4/5 heat level was a little mild for me. Service was top notch. Overall was a great little spot.
Ordered a vegan Tom Kha with tofu and found chicken Tom Kha after driving an hour home. After sending the requested pictures to prove what we received they acknowledged giving us another customer's order. They refused to refund us for the food we can't eat. Will not order here again.
4.5 is my real review. I got the Orange Dish with chicken, no mushrooms, and spice level 4. (It was served with mushrooms. I just pushed them aside). Literally the best orange dish I’ve ever had. It was so tasty. Spice level 4 gave it a good kick. The wifey got Red Curry with prawns, spice level 5, and said it was the best she ever had. The reason for the .5 deduction - mushrooms when I requested no mushrooms and the wifey’s dish was served almost 10 minutes after mine. They were very sweet about it and gave her a speciality tea followed by 1,000 apologizes. Really sweet and great service. I just can’t help but wonder if their menu is too big. It was my first thought when we sat down and started looking it over. Seems large and complex for the size of the restaurant. Will definitely go back when in the area again.
Stopped here on our way to the Oracas island. We had the lunch specials which were really good. Our son loves the fried tofu so he loves that and he had two orders of rhe fried calamari. In the picture, we had only eaten two, so it's not a huge portion you get, which I would have enjoyed more. We also had the curry puffs which were good as well.
This place is cute, spacious, well-decorated, and has a bright atmosphere. We were welcomed and seated quickly.
A great place to grab lunch if you are in mood for Thai. It is close to the Deception pass state park if you're around there.
The food was satisfactory. Their spice levels run on the softer side which should be good for mild palates. Spice lovers, you may want to go up a level.
We have loved this place for lunch and for dinner. Staff is so kind and provides the best service. The food is amazing! Like most things in Anacortes there punching well above their weight class. Great for takeout, afternoon lunch and a sunbeam, or outdoors ( well-behaved pups are okay).
We are from out of town but spent a couple of months here and made multiple trips. Whenever we are in town this is going to be our go-to! Thank you so much guys!
We went around 8:10 pm on Saturday. Ordered spring rolls, panang curry, mango curry, pineapple fried rice, and mango sticky rice
Pineapple fried rice without eggs tasted best. We ordered twice.
Panang curry and mango curry base tasted the same. Mango curry just had extra few pieces of mangoes. Both curry was watery.
Mango sticky rice was good good
Great food with excellent service
In terms of food I found it to be okay but reasonably priced. Actually 12.99 these days is a bargain! It seems to be a standard small-town Thai. There is a robot that brings your food out!
I had the spicy basil which was good. Chicken was moist, veggies fresh but pretty soupy. My dining partner had a pork “garlic dish “ which was also soupy but aside from a sprinkle of fried garlic it didn’t have much going on. Other dining partner had the basil fried rice and seemed neutral.
Some confusion from the waitress when asking about gluten free but the host seemed to be confident that everything could be made gluten free.
Non-factor observations: the forks are HUGE. and the plating was awkward, I guess I should have asked for more plates.

Update: We went there a couple of months ago again like Oct, and slowly got traumatized when our little 5 year old kept finding hair in her food. We thought and said to her, hey careful with your hair falling in the food. (It's rare for her hair to end up in her food) But we stopped blaming her when we found a piece of noodle and veggie with a hair twirled around it. She had just gotten her food and taken a bite or two in between battling removing hairs. At that point we realized it wasn't our daughter. I couldn't believe it because we've been so happy with this place. And our food was awesome, even that day, but my little girl's was gross. They were nice enough to bring her another plate (looked good after I inspected it) but we haven't been there since. I've held my peace until now.
I'm very sorry to report this. I held my peace thinking it was an outlier, but I was looking at restaurants today and noticed some bad reviews here; so I figured I better say something. I grew up in the restaurant world (my parents had a restaurant until they retired at 79 years old a few years ago) and I know how hard they work and lose holidays to work all the time, but I've got to be fair to everyone. I hope this changes, but we are very reluctant to go back ever since that incident. I keep thinking, how in the world did that much hair and even twirled up hair end up in her food?

Original Review:
Outstanding, from the greeting at the door, to the human as well as robot service, LoL, to the most important: the wonderful Thai food, it was all excellent. At one point, the robot went to the wrong table with our order, and it was funny but the server quickly retrieved our food, LoL. Overall the robot didi great serving different tables their food. I think the over spicy food I ordered must have malfunctioned it, LoL. We will definitely go back again.
We ordered two to-go dishes and they both appeared to be lunch left overs. The Pad Thai noodles were stuck together and green onion was not fresh, very little fresh cabbage, carrots and peanuts.
Kee Mao also had to be from lunch. All vegetables were falling apart and soft and only one peice of broccoli and 2 tiny basil leaves and 2 halves of small mushrooms. We threw away the falling apart green beans. It did look they put new chicken in the old dish. Dining may be better inside, but we are not willing to try.
Awesome food and service. Definitely going to recommend to family and friends. I'll be back.
From the time I walked in to the time my food was ready. 5 stars.
Got home food was 5 star and you even had mango sweet rice.
Excellent food - ample proportions for the cost, and cheerful, efficient service!
Ordered a vegan Tom Kha with tofu and found chicken Tom Kha after driving an hour home. After sending the requested pictures to prove what we received they acknowledged giving us another customer's order. They refused to refund us for the food we can't eat. Will not order here again.
Stumbled upon this place by accident. I ordered pad Thai as always, delicious.
Sooooo good! Our waiter Jack was AWESOME!
The food was sooo amazing. This is hands down the best Thai I’ve ever had. Our server was Bianca and she was so sweet and helped us choose all our food. Will be returning once we’re in the area again! ❤️
We have loved this place for lunch and for dinner. Staff is so kind and provides the best service. The food is amazing! Like most things in Anacortes there punching well above their weight class. Great for takeout, afternoon lunch and a sunbeam, or outdoors ( well-behaved pups are okay).

I went here on my son's request and it was good. There's plenty of parking when you arrive and they offer takeout and dine in. Enjoy 😊
I would give this place 5 stars but for constantly messing up my orders on door dash delivery and blaming the carriers fault is unacceptable! If you can’t fulfill the order which is pretty hard to read that ticket! Then maybe you should start delivering the menu instead of relying on a third party.
I am writing another review and changing my star stays because last night 9/9/24 we order door dash and when we got pad Thai/beef and the Pho/beef there was barely any meat in the dishes. I know we are in an inflation crisis and having this place to start to do shrinkflation of there menu and not charge more for there menu is disappointing. Also I called in to talk to a manger and maybe not having someone to manage the employee on quality is the issue here but I will not be ordering anymore from this restaurant in town.
Really good food, clean place, friendly staff. My wife left her purse here on accident. We called, they had already recovered it. We picked it up this morning before they opened. Thank you, Naung Mai!
Meh at best
Really enjoyed this spot. They offered much of the typical thai restaurant options you might be familiar with. Enjoyed the sampler Platter and the basil fried rice.

100/10 would recommend this place! The food is spectacular and the service is phenomenal! I called to place an order 5 minutes before closing and they took my order without any hesitation. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Didn't think we would find authentic Thai food in Anacortes. Family owned and fresh dishes
Excellent food, service and ambience. Very clean don’t miss if you are in Annacortes
Best Tofu Pad Thai in Anacortes. End of story. Oh their fresh rolls are good too!
All the food was delicious! The mango curry was outstanding! Loved the cozy atmosphere too!
I am not in Anacortes often but stop here each visit. Great people
Excellent, friendly staff.
Authentic and tasty Thai food Excellent value.
Great $10.99 lunch combo with lots of vegetarian options
Waited 24 minutes past our estimated curbside pickup time(called five minutes before estimated time), they were busy to be somewhat fair. They forgot my drink, asked what size it was, ended up getting the wrong size after clearly saying the size when asked, was too annoyed to say anything. Topping it off I paid $1 extra for brown rice, got white rice. Sucks working a long day to have service that poor. The food itself is good(aside from Luk Chin Ping).
Delicious flavorful and fresh. Great service too! A new favorite for sure!
Our Mango Curry was out of this world excellent. The pineapple fried rice was perfect. Great atmosphere, friendly wait staff. Will definitely make it a regular dining experience.
The food was awful 😖 I ordered the Thom ka and it was sugary and not anything close to what I would consider the dish to be . I also ordered the pad thai and it was like eating a bowl full of jelly super gross do not recommend at all
I love the food! The service was great and the prices were reasonable. Give it a try! 💕
I love their Pad Thai and their Summer Rolls!
We were hungry after visiting a nearby tulip farm and we found this unexpected gem! The waitstaff is friendly and attentive with good knowledge of the menu. We enjoyed an appetizer (spring roll with prawn), two main courses (Pad Thai with tofu, Khao soi Chiang Maí), and shared a dessert (sticky rice with Thai custard). Thank you to the staff for a delicious dinner!
Great food spoiled by charging different prices than displayed and poor reaction when called out.
We had a great meal, including a particularly nice orange chicken dish and were making plans to come back.
I took a look at the check after having tapped to pay and noticed a couple unexpected $1 charges, and higher prices than on the menu - from a few cents to a third more.
Asked one of the staff members who casually said that they had raised prices but had not received the new menus yet. Another person said they had put notes on the menus but they must have been taken off by the kids. None of the menus we got had the note and the attempt to blame kids felt completely inappropriate.
Would have been so simple to just take responsibility for the missing information but instead things got worse.
They said that there was a sign posted at the entrance about this. Indeed, there were signs posted everywhere, but they were 3 long paragraphs explaining that costs were going up so they reluctantly had to raise prices in March. They did NOT mention that they had out of date prices in the menus.
I suggested that putting a note inside the menu protector and/or crossing out the wrong prices with a sharpie would be a good way to avoid misunderstandings. The answer was that “we don’t do that”.
Next, one waitress said she was busy and had not included a rice so our check should have actually been higher. This was true, though even with the missing item, the bill was still higher than it should have been.
We then heard that the owner did not speak English so could not talk to us, and that the other owner or manager was gone but their policy was to not give refunds when this happened. It sounded like this was a common occurrence. I was given a business card and was told that if I had any issues, I’d have to write about it. That’s now done.
Very sad to write this, as the place & food were otherwise great, hoping this will help others having a better experience.
This is my favorite Thai place to eat, there food is excellent & the prices are very reasonable l!!
Delicious
Service was very prompt and food came out quickly. The food was fresh and delicious! The restaurant was very clean and nice. Restrooms were very clean as well. My first time and will definitely make the drive to come back!
Take away never has bowls for the curry.
Worth the drive from Marysville great food an price
Soup should be called broth. Very little meat and vegetables. I was disappointed. Not what I get in seattle. Broth was ok must came out of can. Other dishes is not to share barely enough for one. Must have been a good place once but they're cutting corner by cutting back on portions. I would rather raise the price and eat it right way.
Usually we get to-go from here, and we enjoy the food but tonight we sat in with my parents and overall it was an odd experience and may have changed my overall opinion of the place. Firstly, the chicken satay was super dry and almost jerky like but we tolerated it. Then we asked for sticky rice with our entrees and they told us they don’t have that, but I’ve ordered it before so idk if they were just out or the waiter was unaware they had it? After the meal I was drinking some water out of the glass and saw a long black hair in it. I almost threw up my meal. I know this happens sometimes, I've worked in a lot of restaurants but it’s all about how a restaurant handles it that makes the difference in my opinion. They just said sorry and asked if I wanted a new cup. If I was working there I definitely would have comp’d an item or at least brought a free dessert as an apology. No one goes to a restaurant to find a strangers hair in their food or drink.
Food is great…nice building layout and they are pretty quick getting u ur food but they are kinda expensive but it’s worth it
A wonderful surprise awaits you at this lovely restaurant. The seating is comfortable, service is warm and inviting and the food extraordinary.
I found a staple in my pad Thai. Management did not believe me and did not take my concerns seriously. I could have been injured. I will never eat here again. There is a review for the Oak Harbor location showing a similar issue.
I have eaten here 4 or 5 times in 2 years. The food always seems really bland or off in flavor. Too much fish sauce, too little for Pad Thai, bland basil beef, and not enough coconut milk in the Tom Ka soup etc. I try it every six months or so (limited options nearby), and always regret it. Unfortunately, I end up tossing the meal. I am kinda picky about Thai food though, in my opinion the great service and ambiance dont make up for the flavor issues. Appetizers are good though!
Cute place, great food and service!
Great food, service was excellent, prices were very reasonable, I definitely would like to recommend this Thia Kitchen.
My sister and I ate here tonight. I got the yellow curry with vegetables and added avocado on top! This dish for me was the best yellow curry I've ever had, they even had pineapple in it for extra flavor(I love pineapple) and have never had that in a curry before. My sister got a veggie dish but asked for the soy on the side. We were both very happy!
Tasty food but oily
We usually pick up food here on the way home from the ferry. Always order online (appreciate the option to not have garlic!) and the food is hot and ready at the time we arrive. And tasty!
Pretty good, they were open on Christmas
We have dined with Naung Mai Thai for a number of years passing through Anacortes and they have consistently met or exceeded our expectations. We look forward to their fine take out food!
Excellent food, customer service and location. I wasn't aware there were 2 other Thai restaurants in the same block however this was the nicest and most inviting looking out of the bunch. The flavors were so good and even the spicy levels were tolerable if you chose the spicy option. I highly recommend this location.
Very reasonably priced lunch menu, good food, friendly service. Very accommodating to a 16 month old, active toddler
One of our favorite Thai restaurants in Anacortes. We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Always great food and friendly service.
Eat here almost everyday. Makes me feel like family,.
Most excellent Thai food. I really love any noodle dish with peanut sauce like the Rama noodles.
Enjoyed the food and the staff really went out of their way to be helpful.
I usually don't leave reviews but I was honestly disappointed by this place. I live in the islands so I don't have get to have Thai food very often anymore. I usually go to a different place down the road from here when I do but today I thought I'd try something new and I wish I had just stuck with my regular place. This place uses Ketchup in their pad Thai, immediately when I opened the box I could see and smell the Ketchup and was turned off. I ordered the summer rolls that come with peanut sauce which was really just peanut butter stirred with some oil. I make Thai peanut sauce at home all the time and peanut butter is an ingredient but blended with a lot of other ingredients that were clearly missing from this sauce and it was not blended well it was almost like eating straight peanut butter. I also ordered a salad that had a weird fishy flavor I could not identify and did not enjoy. I hate to critique someone's food like this but it was really not good. $75 not well spent. Now I will take this home to my husband and daughter and get the blame for going somewhere new, ugh. I can say the staff was very nice and the restaurant is very clean and looks nice. I like their set up which is what drew me in but the food is the most important part and that ruined it for me.
Service was decent. Robot bringing food out was an interesting experience. Everything was fine enough until I started noticing black hair all over in my fried rice. After picking out 2 pieces, I checked for more. A piece of broccoli in the fried rice had another black hair laced in it 🤮. I had also ordered a spring roll that was unimpressive as well. All I could taste was the lettuce in a clear rice paper wrapper. Peanut sauce was good. Would never order the spring rolls again though. Pad Thai tasted a bit caked in its sauce. After I found the hair all over in my fried rice, I couldn’t stomach the thick pad Thai with the thought of hair being in that too... My fried rice was comped only. In my opinion, a better approach would have been to comp everything. I didn’t fuss about it, just wanted to leave. Won’t be going back and decided to write a review.
Excellent green curry! Love their Phad Thai - wet with tamarind sauce - not dry like at other Thai places.
Great service and ambience!
I got take out from Naung Mai Thai, on Main Street in Anacortes, my favorite, chicken cashew and it was so good!
Nice Thai restaurant, we had the curry and pad Thai. We enjoyed our meal and service was good.
Our food was delicious. The curry was just right.. not too spicy.
Crispy duck was amazing.
I had the green curry with tofu. It was delicious. It's a nice option if you are a vegan.
Great service, great food. Would eat there again!
The food is okay, not good. Mine was too oily and the level of spice between dishes was inconsistent. The portion size for the entrees was on the small side. The peanut sauce for the fresh rolls is too sweet and the fresh rolls are double wrapped which makes them a bit tough. The robot waiter is a bit of a parlor trick that seems to be unreliable
The pad Thai and Panang curry was good.
Love the Tom Yum
They add sugar to everything now. Could be premade instead of fresh. We asked them to not add sugar, to no avail. Won't be ordering from them anymore. At least they got everything on the order in the bag. Previous 2 visits we had to drive back because they forgot something. Menu prices are reasonable but the portions are tiny.
Some of the best thai food I've had
We went around 8:10 pm on Saturday. Ordered spring rolls, panang curry, mango curry, pineapple fried rice, and mango sticky rice
Pineapple fried rice without eggs tasted best. We ordered twice.
Panang curry and mango curry base tasted the same. Mango curry just had extra few pieces of mangoes. Both curry was watery.
Mango sticky rice was good good
Super lit 🔥
Friendly service with expected Thai food offerings.
Great food. Friendly and attentive people.
The shrimp and scallop curry and Thai iced tea were amazingly good...even more amazing was the robot that delivered it!
Awesome and delicious food, Great svc (they even have a robot serving some meals!), and a good selection of food.
We called and asked if we could be accommodated ( a group of 7). We were told we could be seated and served. We showed up and were ignored for over 20 minutes while other tables were served. We were not talked to or addressed for food or drink orders. Would not recommend. Many other places to spend money.
Food is absolutely delicious, even compared to some of the highly rated Seattle restaurants! Very clean and simple atmosphere. Robot delivery too.
Great food. The flavors are exceptional and they add heat without overpowering the flavors.
Delicioso👍👍👍👍👍😍🍜🍛🥟🥡
A wonderful dining experience with well-made, delicious Thai food at reasonable prices. We ordered the Spicy Crispy Duck (delicious but the skin wasn't crispy), See Ew with beef and with pork, fried rice, Giew Grob (Thai Crab Rangoon), Spring Rolls, Jasmine Rice and Thai Iced Tea. Wonderful service and ambience. A small but great Thai place.
Very cute, clean and spacious seating areas. Friendly and efficient staff. Very helpful in making food selections when in doubt. Food was excellent and we are always happy to be able to choose the desired spice level. Food is fresh, delicious and well presented. We have tried just about every menu item and all are wonderful! One of our favorite restaurants in town.
The best Thai food in Anacortes!
I recently learned about the Thai government's move to standardize what is considered Thai food outside of Thailand. That explains why every Thai restaurant in the United States has pretty much the same menu. That said this restaurant does an excellent job with the Thai "standards". The "stars" are a little off for a South Asian like me... They have clearly adapted this to a meat-and-potatoes palate...but the flavors were right on, and as good as any US Thai restaurant. This is not a criticism, but I would love to see a dish or two that speaks to the amazing regional Thai cuisines from Phuket to Chiang Mai. Both the robot server and the human server were excellent!
I am such a big fan of Naung Mai Thai Kitchen! As a really busy real estate agent in the area, I eat on the go a lot and this is one of my favorites. The new location is gorgeous, the service is impeccable, and don't even get me started on the food... so yummy! To be honest, I mostly order through DoorDash, but when I have time, I love to go and sit down in the bright, well-decorated space.
Terrific cuisine and service. We arrived close to closing after a long day of fun, and they graciously seated us. They had to start closing cleaning, but it was done unobtrusively. The service was prompt and friendly. And the food! Among our group, we ordered three of my favorite dishes and they were all well executed.
I like spice, and 4 out of 5 stars was perfect. If it were a cold winter day I might even go for 5!
This spot is on my mental map when I head to Anacortes.
Love their food ! Excellent
Portions are pretty small. Especially in regards to the amount of protein in the dishes. We could tell that service was slow overall, but our waitress was great. Shorter gal with awesome eye makeup.
Best Pad Thai around!
No spice, no acidity, was very disappointed. Some of the most flavorless larb salad I've ever had. Quite good service, though!
First time guests recommended by our daughter in law. Waitress was not the friendliest but seemed to warm up a bit over the course of our meal. I had the mango curry and my bride had the pumpkin curry. Both dishes were very flavorful and arrived hot. My mango curry was the special with chicken and shrimp but I was a little disappointed to have only received two shrimp. We will be back again.
Ordered the pad Thai. Unfortunately the sauce was too goopy and sweet for my taste.
Panang and red curries are delicious!
Tasty food dishes. Friendly and quick service. Pleasant atmosphere. Good prices.
Delicious $10 lunch special -- garlic pork with white rice, Pad Thai, and spring roll. Great value! And good service too.
The food here was excellent! We tried the pan fried trout and a veggie dish. The service was great and we loved the ambiance as well. Highly recommended!
Great food and staff! New location is amazing too.
Thai place that can’t even make a pad Thai correctly. Enough said
Beef noodle soup and shrimp pad thai:
Noodle soup at level 2 spice was just right
Pad thai at level 4 worked well also
Great service and good food.
We were on our way to Orca's Island and wanted a quick lunch. What a find! Very good food and service. Would definitely come back.
Great place for Thai. Pad See Ew is wonderful. Pad Thai is really flavorful. Our favorite Thai in town.
Vegan options
I’ve been here many times and have always left happy, but tonight we ordered Pad Thai and it was really disappointing. The noodles were drenched in a bright orange sauce (almost like sweet and sour sauce, or a sauce you would find on General Tsao’s). The waiter was very polite but insisted that this is the correct sauce and was normal. I found it very hard to believe and think they put the wrong sauce on the noodles…still got charged, even though we expressed our dissatisfaction.
We love Naung Mai’s food and the fact that they expanded into Oak Harbor, obviously because their business is booming. It’s good to see another small business doing well.
Now that you have gotten so popular and are loved by many, it would be amazing if you used your platform to influence our community and use home-compostable takeout containers instead of styrofoam ones.
The food was amazing and the service was great! The restaurant is really cute as well :)
The appetizers were ok, but it's impossible to screw up pre-made goyoza and other super overpriced starters. Not certain what went wrong with the mains. Mine was ordered middle of the scale and came out almost pure bland, when a comment was made about no flavour, got the "oh well" attitude. Got the feeling everything was packaged out pre-made. No service checkup, just serve the food and disappear. Crazy treatment for someone getting high rate tips.
Parking could be a problem, but came just after peak busy apparently.
I would like to stay positive, but I would feel guilty recommending here and risking others having the same experiences.
We LoVE this restaurant! DELICIOUS food. FABULOUS service. Atmosphere is warm and embracing. NOBODY is turned away no matter how late. We wish you many years of success. Thank You.
The food and service is outstanding!
Decent pad thai. Fried tofu tastes like what I imagine drywall to taste like. A staff member offered me the fried spring rolls instead and they were delicious.
Consistently great.
We went once before and found it too noisy, but new sound dampeners have helped quite a bit. The food is good with tasty daily specials. Be aware, there is quite a difference between 1 and 2 stars of spiciness. They offer inexpensive lunch specials with rice, Phad Thai, a Spring roll and entree.
The red curry with chicken is DELICIOUS! I’m obsessed 😍
Great food and service!
Flavor of the food is excellent. Spice level seems to be on the lower end and not super consistent. I order a 5* and sometimes get a little bit of spice (3*) and other times it tastes more like a 1-2 Star. To be fair, I have only been to 2 Thai restaurants between Seattle and Anacortes that consistently make the spice level that I am looking for in my food and I have tried many. All and all a solid restaurant that my husband and I will keep coming back to and one of my favorites in Anacortes.
Best restaurant in Anacortes!
The best restaurant 😋
Friendly and the best foods 😋
Very good menu and excellent food along with great service.
Good food. Friendly service.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Way good!
