We visited Sortrel after we landed in Dulles Airport at night as we were craving some Thai food. The atmosphere was very nice, with lovely Xmas themed decorations😊 The staff carefully accommodated our Peanuts-free meals and went above and beyond woth their customer service!

We had Calamari for appetizer - 10/10! The slices were thick, the cover was crispy and light, the sweet chili sauce went so well with the dish - this is a must-order here!
We had Firecracker Chicken and Green Curry Beef for entre and we loved the dishes very much! Chicken was crispy well into the meal, and curry has a nice kick to it! The portion was generous and the taste was Chef's kiss!
I just thought the Sticky Rice Mango could have more coconut milk into it and the sticky rice could be cooked a bit longer. More coconut milk can be used to soften the edge of the sticky rice, since the edge was a bit dried. But overall, it was a yummy dessert to end our meal.

Highly recommend Sortrel and will definitely come back to try other dishes 😊

Fast friendly and delicious! I have been there 3 times and I have not been disappointed. The staff friendly, the food delicious and filling! The best Thai iced tea and iced coffee I have ever tasted! All at a reasonable price.

UPDATE: Rip off lunch menu!! You’re better off getting the regular menu. Their menu is very misleading. I dine in for the very first time. And from their lunch menu, you pick the entree and it comes with either salad,
or ONE vegetables spring roll or chicken lemon grass soup. I decided to go with the spring roll, but I had no idea that you only get ONE!! It’s not mentioned anywhere in the menu. It also advertise dessert as an option...WITHIN the lunch section!! The waitress never bought this to my attention.

Then when I get my appetizers, they bring out my entree as well. NO CONSIDERATION FOR TIME, and keeping my food hot.

It was my go-to place for Thai food. Not any more. The drunken noodle is salty and not spicy enough even I asked for extra spicy. The beef becomes ground beef?

I recently had a disappointing experience at this restaurant while picking up a DoorDash order. When I arrived and showed the order to the staff member, I was met with a very rude tone. She mentioned it would take 15 minutes, but then handed me the order after just a minute. Despite my effort to be polite and smile, her reaction remained unfriendly and dismissive.

I understand that working in a busy environment can be stressful, but everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Unfortunately, this interaction left me feeling quite offended. I hope the management can address this to ensure a more courteous atmosphere in the future.

Let me start by saying that I really enjoyed my food from here. I stopped by this place on the way home and called my order in. My order was ready quickly, however, the person who “greeted” me was incredibly rude. I have not experienced such poor service. She gave me the worst eye roll when I walked in and just looked at me. I told her that I had a pickup order, she asked me my name, and she practically threw the food at me. I handed her my card, she snatched it, and gave me my receipt. I already feel weird about tipping while just picking up food, but in this case with the bad attitude, I absolutely did not tip. Once she saw that I did not tip, she snatched my receipt and rolled her eyes once more at me. I still said thank you, and she said absolutely nothing. I’m very thankful that the food was good, but the service was sooooo poor that I will not return.

Great atmosphere with above average food and a full bar. The service was very friendly and fast. Order was accurate as well. Food is a bit sweet, even the spiciest option but was still very tasty. The lack of spiciness is the only reason I only give them four stars.

Super nice, but the calamari appetizer was expensive and not great. It was large chunks instead of rings or slivers, which made for big, unpleasant rubbery mouthfuls. The sauce was fine. The service was good though and I hope the other items are better.

Hit the spot! I love Thai food and ordered the chicken pad Thai tonight. It was exactly what I was wanting. I requested to add 1 pepper to it because I'm not big on sweeter dishes and wow! First coming! My brother recommended that I go eat at a really good Thai place. The service was wonderful, everyone’s very kind. The atmosphere is cute and perfect for a date. The food…. I have been coming here for years ever since they opened and the food has remained consistent and delicious. It is by far my favorite Thai food in all of DMV. The tofu with Chilli basil and the red curry are my fav go to dishes and hit the spot every time. If you love Thai food be sure to try this spot as it is by far the best in the area.

My family has been doing here for as long as I can remember. They do great lunch specials during the week but always have amazing service and food! Some of our family faves are the pad see ew/drunken noodle/ginger chicken/pad Thai/firecracker chicken/Thai fried rice. The Tom yum soup and Thai tea is also really good. I am no longer in the area but always stop by when I am in town.

I have never heard of a Thai restaurant that does not put hot peppers in the papaya salad when a customer ask for it. I specifically asked for extra spicy and when it came out, there were no peppers at all, not even a pepper seed. Unbelievable!!!!! Ridiculous!!!

I just moved to Virginia a few months back. This place has DELICIOUS food, great options and flavors and honestly it was really cutesy decorated for Halloween too. It seemed so charming and very local-oriented. You can tell the food is homemade (and not the mediocre kind lol) this food was cooked with serious passion. DEFINITELY will be coming back, and bringing family

My wife meets with friends here every week, and always brings me home their Spicy Thai Basil with beef and add vegetables. Tonight was off… Sortrel is one of two of my favorite Thai restaurants in the area, their Spicy Thai Basil/Kaprow and Panang are SO good.
Tonight the dish tasted like beef and veggies in brown sauce.
Not sure if the chef was on vacation, or what. It wasn’t terrible… just not spicy, and was it was boring as well as a big let down because it didn’t taste anything like what I look forward to every week. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m assuming someone was on summer vacay and next week will be amazing, just as usual 😊

Excellent food, good selection, good value, and friendly staff. They are also very vegetarian-friendly and will substitute vegetarian sauces (think mushroom sauce) wherever possible and tofu is available as a protein option on just about any dish where it makes sense. They will also make dishes that aren’t on the menu as long as they have the ingredients. We asked for basil fried rice and they made it. I didn’t try any of their bar options but the cocktail menu was appealing. If you’re craving Thai food, give this place a try. I doubt you’ll regret it.

However the chicken panang curry was bad. It had very less sauce with broccoli which was not an ingredient mentioned in the menu.

Tried Sortrel NYE when our local Thai Pan closed early. The food was tasty and very abundant. We like the flavor of Thai Pan slightly better, but Sortrel is also very good. We asked for the basil chili to be "spicier than most Americans like it, but not as spicy as they like it at home ", and that's what we got. Wish they had more veggies - aside from peppers- in their dishes, but flavor and portion size are excellent.

Their pad Thai and red curry are both amazingly delicious. They give huge portions for take out. I will definitely be ordering them then again!

The vegetable pad Thai was the best I have had in years. I have been searching for authentic great pad Thai since I had it 12 years ago. This place finally nailed it! My husband had the crispy chicken and he said it was flavorful and loaded with seasoning and juicy white meat. The spring rolls and dumplings were fresh and delicious. We used to go to the Thai place in one Loudoun but Sortel was so good we will be making it our new regular spot for sure!!

I served as the State Department's Desk Officer for Thailand for three years, have traveled extensively through Thailand, and have eaten in many Thai restaurants chosen by Thai embassy staff. This unassuming spot surprised me. It's among the best three Thai meals I've ever eaten in the United States. My partner had the green curry and I had the spicy crispy duck. Both were PROPER, and comparable to high quality food available in Thailand itself. All the textures, all the spices, all the heat levels, just excellent. I'm quite blown away. Shocked, really. The chef has an excellent palate and there were no compromises made in quality of food.

Literally delicious!!!! I moved away from the area and Sortrel is always my first stop when I'm back in town!

The Panang Curry could use thicker sauce, but it is ok. The Chicken Pad Thai was right on! But the sticky Rice with 🥭, mango is always a hit! Service is good. Go check them out.

Whenever ordering from local restaurants, PLEASE make the extra effort to find the REAL website and call in your order directly so the third party delivery apps can't confiscate the money you're paying. Support local small businesses, not silicon valley pirates.

4 stars possibly 5. Panang curry for luch was delicious. Just the right amount of spice for me (menu described as little spice). Flavor was wonderful. Veggies were fresh with a bit of crisp, not overcooked. I hope to enjoy more dishes and upgrade to 5 stars. I will return.
Update. Took my coworker. He got spicy beef salad which was sad to say the least, hardly any beef over some wilted greens. I was embarrassed.

Order delivery from here on the regular and its always pretty good! I used to get the Crab Fried Rice until I had the Chef's special Firecracker Chicken which is amazing! You should definitely give that a try if you haven't already. I'm not sure why it says it's a "little spicy" because it doesn't have any spice as far as I can tell, so don't let that deter you! My wife can eat it and she's afraid of black pepper...I sometimes request +1 spice to kick it up a notch.
My wife really likes the Tofu Pad Thai and the Mango and Sticky Rice. She's always trying to snag some of my chicken though.

Here on a business trip, so I decided to try out some local restaurants. The Duck with Pineapple Sauce is more like Duck without sauce. Very dry, no flavor, no Pineapple sauce. Good thing I still have Chick-fil-A sauce leftover in my fridge. Shouldve just stuck with fast food places. Waste of my money.

This holiday gift yourself a trip to this place, the food is top shelf phenomenal, you really do owe it to yourself. Try curry dishes with some rice and thank me later.

Sortrel has the best Thai food in the area. Been eating here for years and they never disappoint. Food is always hot, delicious, and their carry out packaging is fantastic for leftovers. I recommend the Chili Basil chicken or beef if it’s your first time and you don’t mind some spice. Green curry is also phenomenal. Try this place out, you’ll love it.

I eat a lot of Thai food so I'm picky.
I put this is the category of Chinese Thai food. It's run to be profitable, not good. Vegetables are the usual mix of cheap stuff like cabbage. I always start with a panang curry. There wasn't much sauce and there way way too much meat. The pork wasn't flavorful, it was overcooked and cut thin and didn't have a pleasant texture. There were hardly vegetables in my meal. For the price paid which was high, but fastish service, I'm giving 3 stars which is generous... Might try again but probably not.

The food is perfect. The portions are the right size and the meals include the right amount of meat and a lot of vegetables, which other places replace instead with more rice.

I've lived in Thailand and what I ordered was NOT Thai food. I know that it may be hard to get the same quality, but I've eaten at Thai restaurants here and this had to be the worst I have ever been to! I cannot believe it has such good ratings! I ordered Broccoli with Tofu. It came as PLAIN steamed broccoli with some pieces of fried tofu in it. NO salt, or pepper even, NO sauce at all, either soy or a Thai style one, No taste of ginger/garlic, nothing!! I also ordered a Shrimp Wanton soup which was good, but definitely not Thai. Service was terrible. We had to ask for everything little thing, i.e. salt, pepper, soy sauce, Thai chilli seasonings and spoons to serve our family style dishes. My Chicken satay was to come with a peanut sauce and that didn't happen. It sat on a bed of what looked and tasted like some sweet jam!! It had some kind of oily sauce in a bowl with green chillies in it. No peanut sauce! Will definitely not be going there again. The only reason we did, was cause the Burmese restaurant next door was closed!!

Completely gross and inedible food. In no universe is the food from this place good or authentic and it’s puzzling that people seem to think this place qualifies as good Thai food. The panang curry is literally 90% protein with about two spoons of curry sitting at the bottom of the bowl. The drunken noodles we ordered had no chicken despite requesting in the order, two pieces of basil and no other vegetables. Takeout from here ended up being a very disappointing experience.

Upon calling the restaurant, the person we talked to was rude and tried to pass off the bad food as “how we cook Thai food”. You can’t label something a curry if there is no curry inside of it and drunken noodles isn’t supposed to be 99% noodle with nothing else in it. I understand that sometimes kitchens have bad days but when a complaint is made, listen to the customer.

Do not order from here, there are much better restaurants in the area.

Excellent Thai food. This is our go to when we don't have time to cook. We order here a few times a month. It's always consistent and pretty fast as well. They will tell you 45 mins when you order but our food never takes more than 30. We usually get the drunken noddles and the crispy duck which are our favorites. The Bangkok steak is also very good.

A very solid Thai restaurant with consistently good food and super fast service. Each time I have eaten here, the food has been wonderfully prepared and high quality. My son loves the crab fried rice and it is full of generous portions of crab. I opted for the Spicy Basil Duck and the dish was crispy with a nice sauce to compliment the flavorful duck. Highly recommend.
