Over 15 years, we served millions of dishes of our Thai and Sushi culinary expertise in D.C. Now, we are offering Reston residents to enjoy the dining experience with 2 cuisines in 1 place.
This Thai/Sushi restaurant was beautifully put together! The service was fast and our server was very attentive. The food 🍱 was absolutely delicious 🤤 and the drinks too! The food was made very quickly and well put together. We ordered crab Rangoon’s, spicy udon 🍜 noodles with shrimp, Long Island ice tea, chicken fried rice and shrimp tempura 🍤. Kid APPROVED as well our son devoured his shrimp and noodles 😍 we will be back!
The place looks very nice and the staff was very polite, attentive and friendly.
I had Drunken Noodles with Tofu, which was delicious and really good. The only thing I would say is that the Fried Tofu was very weird. It did not seem that they cooked it along with the rest of the noodles. Tasted bland and flavorless. Maybe its their style of making it, but did not work for me. Otherwise, the Drunken Noodles were top notch..
Our first time here, love atmosphere, our server X was so friendly. The food was absolutely 💯 delish!! We order gyoza as an appetizer..so crunchy! Sushi: tiger roll, Mexican roll, mango roll, and beef fried rice. All absolutely fantastic and pack w flavor. Ohhh and mai-tai were yummy as well. Definitely will be coming back!
Good food and service with nice decor.
The staff were friendly and provided fast service.
We had drunken noodles with tofu and Thai tea. The Thai tea was good. The drunken noodles were pretty good, but the tofu on top of it was a complete letdown—just flavorless, fried tofu added on top. It would be better if the tofu were more flavorful and coated with the sauce.
We had to go ordered. My husband bit something really hard while having a couple of bites of beef drunken noodle. We found a hard silica gel that was in the food.. We took photos and send them to the owner. Now our kids lost appetite after looking at it. We tossed all the food. Now I have to fix something for the kids unfortunately.
We dined here for lunch today and loved everything about this Thai restaurant! It's spacious, displaying plants, flowers, Thai sculptures, and wood carvings. It is a well-maintained and clean place, and the server was amiable and even came by multiple times if we needed her assistance; honestly, the service was top-notch. All the dishes we ordered were tasty. We started with soft shell crab with SAAO curry sauce, the best in Northern Virginia we had ever tried. Salmon Flambé Rolls were fresh and flavorful, and the cucumber under each roll added crunchiness; Drunken Udon Noodles with Seafood was delicious, and Pad Thai with Shrimp was divine, and all seafood that came with our dishes was freshest ever. All the portions were so generous that we couldn't finish them. We will return to try other dishes on the menu soon, as some we tried today were already excellent. We highly recommend this Thai restaurant for any occasion and guarantee delicious Thai food with outstanding service!
UPDATE:
We had such a great dining experience last time that we returned today to try other dishes. We ordered tuna nachos for an appetizer, Drunken Noodles with shrimp, a Sushi and sashimi Combo, and a Chirashi bowl. Everything was equally delicious. The California Roll with the Sushi and Sashimi Combo was the best I've had in the DMV. It was well-made with fresh ingredients, and masago inside the roll added a pleasant popping texture. Once again, the service was excellent, and we left the restaurant fully satisfied.
The server was warm and friendly. The crab Rangoon was delicious and the best I’ve had in the area. Sushi and seaweed salad were tasty as well and everything was reasonably priced.
My husband and I have eaten dinner here twice and loved it both times. The restaurant opened in 2021 and isn’t very busy yet. First we ordered Thai food (delicious) and had the restaurant to ourselves. Then the next time (about 3 weeks ago) we ordered a number of sushi rolls. There were a few more people dining there but it was still quiet and enjoyable.
We generally like dragon rolls, eel, shrimp tempura, and unique flavors- and the options we chose were excellent. There was a sushi roll topped with mango that may have been my favorite. The mango sticky rice is great too (I order this in any restaurant that offers it), and the mochi ice cream as well.
The service is great. We highly recommend this restaurant and hope they start receiving more business.
Standard Thai dishes
Wow, clean presentation and tasty sushi. I first ordered hot sake with a Yellowtail Lover’s roll and a Deep sea roll. The yellowtail was my “safe” order but the Deep sea roll was a new combination for me. I loved them both. I was unusually hungry so I also ordered a Daytona roll, another new combination for me. It was pretty good but a little busy for my taste. The service was prompt and friendly. It looks like I have found a third choice in my sushi adventures. I would recommend this location (and I didn’t even try any of the Thai selections)

Great experience will definitely come back!

My favorite Thai restaurant in the Reston. Food quality is superb and you're always greeted with a friendly, warm atmosphere.
I haven't had one friend who didn't become a return customer.
Boyfriend and I came for dinner and the ambiance was lovely! Waiters are attentive and food is fabulous. Will be returning.
Loved it. If I’m in the area I will definitely be back.
Great sushi, excellent service, and their dishes are so tasty!
The sushi here is phenomenal. The quality is superb, and the wait time was almost non-existent. The atmosphere was great but nothing to note.

This is our favorite Thai place. The food has been consistently delicious and they have a nice variety of food, including sushi. I enjoy the Pad Thai, while my partner likes
the seafood Thai fried rice. My daughter enjoys the sushi. Kind staff top off a pleasant experience. Good experience with both dine in and take out.
Had a very good time here! The sushi deluxe me and my dad ordered was delicious, and the service was pretty good.
The best sushi, the kindest/fastest service!! Coming back again every weekend!!
Visited for the first time tonight with family and this place is now our go-to Thai restaurant! I had the Gra Prao Ped which was just amazing. Others had the Green Curry, Massaman Curry and various sushi… everyone was really impressed by the wonderful food and charming service. Cannot wait to come back and experience these flavours again!
Food is 100/10 , Hospitality 1000/10
Excellent place! Highly recommend!
We’ve been hoping for a Thai restaurant in Reston that makes our favorite Thai dish!
We finally found it last week in
Plaza America. SAAO THAI offers Crispy Shrimp Gra Prao and we’re thrilled to share that it’s Fabulous!✨
The large, delicately fried shrimp, were the best ever! Along with the delicious sauce, sautéed vegetables, and topped with crispy basil leaves, it was an outstanding, flavorful dish! Next time we’ll try another favorite..
Shrimp Pad Thai! We’re so Happy to find you
SAAO THAI✨We give you a “10”🤗
I ate lunch there. Green curry was excellent. Service is prompt. Highly recommended
We have eaten at Saao many times, and have gotten to know the staff quite well. They are friendly, attentive and take pride in the food they put out. They always use fresh, high quality ingredients and have a great weekly happy hour!
W - O - W !!! Food, service, ambiance!! Try the Chon Red Ale for sure 🍺. crab rangoon and poke nachos - yes please! nachos were individual vice a stack, and each one had the perfect flavor explosion 💥 Ordered 3 rolls - Pacific, Angel and Sunset - each was unique, delicious, and very well made. Bottom line - we are def coming back!!
Great food and great service!
The place looks very nice and the staff was very polite, attentive and friendly.

What a warm and welcoming place. With delicious food to match. Thank you for a beautiful dining experience.
Saao is one of my favorite restaurants. Me and my family are always guaranteed a delicious meal, clean environment, and family oriented atmosphere it has become a home away for home for the past 4 years. The staff is amazing, I love Tiffany and X they treat me like family and are more than amazing. Saao is the best Thai food around!!!
had a great birthday here!!
Incredible service - our server was so kind and always smiling! The food was delicious, quick, and so fresh. There were enough vegetarian options for my family and I loved the udon drunken noodles with shrimp! Will be coming back soon for sure!
First time visiting this Thai restaurant and it didn’t disappoint at all! Each person at our table raved about their food and the service was excellent from the moment we walked it. Our server had such an infectious smile the whole time! Adding this place to our rotation of favorite restaurants
I come to Reston every year for a conference and only go to the town center for dinner. Today, I love Asian food and I thought I’ll Google Asian restaurant near me. SAAO Thai and Sushi popped up and I went. Oh My God!!! Why! Why didn’t I come here before! The atmosphere as you walk in is so inviting and everyone smiles at you. I came by myself, it always feels awkward to sit at a bar by yourself. Not at all! I felt so welcome! Don the wonderful bartender and host and server behind the bar was so professional, patient with all my questions about the menu and even made suggestions after asking me what I like. I love this place! I wish I knew about it before! Dan is the best customer oriented person I’ve met in a long long time. 20 out of 10❤️🤗
Amazing Food. We have been serviced by PK ( waitress) who is very kind and nice.
Great lunch specials and very nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. Will be returning for sure.
The establishment offers a pleasant ambiance for a date, with a convenient location and satisfactory food options. However, the portions provided were disproportionately small compared to the prices charged. Additionally, the "Thai spice" spice level, advertised as their hottest offering, lacked the expected level of spiciness, registering only a 3 out of 10 on the heat scale.
I ask a Thai food fanatic, and this place scratched the itch well while I was on the road. My kaeng matsaman was fantastic! They also had really good and fresh nigiri sushi and singha beer, so I was happy happy when we left. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll stop back in.
Very fresh fish, staff was very pleasant, and the food…awesome. Coming back next week!
We ordered six sushi rolls and each was delicious. The fish included was so fresh ! We will be coming back!
Super fast and friendly service; food was excellent - had chicken pad thai!
Best food excellent service 100% recommend
Both the food and service were both exceptional!
We got the curry puffs, drunken udon noodles, and some sushi rolls. Everything was amazing. The food was phenomenal and the service was fantastic. If you’re in the mood for Thai or even sushi, highly recommend.
Everything was excellent.
We had drunken oodon noodle and sushi. The sushi had a perfect fish/rice ratio (not overpacked with rice like some places).
Service was great as well. We will be back.
Amazing place!!
They were amazing! Food was great and service people were lovely!
Amazing food!
Wonderful service! The sushi was fresh and flavorful. Fun rolls too!! Try the Hawaiian roll.
Wonderful service, the people were lovely, and the food was perfect!
Nice people and great food. If you enjoy darker ales, the Chon red ale is the best draft I have ever had. Cheers
Top notch quality, taste, and service. 🦾🍣
The waiter ( Pk ) was so funny, gave advice on what to order, and so nice.
The food was really good. We loved the Poke Nachos and the Drunken udon noodles. Services was very friendly and nice.
Everything was outstanding. Sashimi, green Curry, and you must try the coconut ice cream. Service great and very friendly.

Fantastic! We’ll be back.
The service and staff are outstanding! From the minute we walked in, to seating us, to taking our order, being tentative and meticulous of giving us a kind and well rounded service, we are very happy to have dined here. And, yes, this was our first time. We are happy we made this last minute decision.
Oh, and yes, the food is delicious and fresh!
Saao Thai has become our favorite Thai place! We’ve been multiple times and the service is always amazing and consistent. We love their drunken noodles, pineapple fried rice and their sushi.
Finally a spot to get really high quality sushi in the area, what an awesome spot! The Thai food selections are terrific as well and are less expensive without sacrificing on quality. Awesome custom cocktails and a great vibe. The servers are friendly and extremely polite, we just love this spot. It’s become out go-to date night location.
Very delicious and great service!
I absolutely looove this place! The food is always incredible, staff is always smiley and polite. I come here probably every month! I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys Asian fusion!
Really great food and good service!
Fantastic food and very relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend Udon Drunken Noodles!
Food was amazing. Service couldn’t have been better. Highly recommend!!
The lychee martini was fantastic! And we also enjoyed the house made Saao noodles (spicy but really good!) and the pineapple fried rice is delicious.
Very nice place. Service was wonderful and lots of vegetarian options for me. Also loved the atmosphere, very clean and cozy.
One of my favorite restaurants to eat.
Great thai noodles and sushi all in one place. Try the Philly roll and Ssao Thai House Noodle dish.
Every dish here is excellent. SAAO has become our favorite place for lunch or orchestra concert after-parties. The only thing better is the service-always quick and with a smile. If a waitress is busy, the owner is just as attentive. Best sushi in Reston!
Was our first time here and the food and atmosphere was amazing
Awesome!
Delicious food and wonderful staff!
Our new favorite place 💕
Staff is very friendly and quick with service. Food was great. Sushi, Nigiri, Red Curry.
Great service and atmosphere. Takoyaki, spring rolls, and drunken noodles were all good with large portions. Made for a nice date night.
Excellent Thai dinner! Enjoyed Satay, gyoza, tuna roll, chicken pad Thai, red curry, fried rice and drunken noodles. Clean, comfortable, and nice staff!
We love SAAO! Their staff is very friendly and the sushi is delicious.
Sweet space
SAAO is our go to place for our company happy hours and we have hosted two events. Service is excellent, food is excellent and staff is so friendly and easy to work with.
PK was the best waitress, very attentive and helpful in picking out our meals. The sashimi was excellent and very fresh.
Very good, delicious food. Waitress was very nice. Food came fast. Will come back.
My First visit. Pick up order for my boss. Great atmosphere inside. I forget the Thai tea… , however the staff realized and came out and got me. They were very kind and polite. I got the Spicy Tuna roll & Crab Rangoon. It tasted great! The service was quick and on point! I am sure my boss and I will do another pick up lunch from SAAO in the future.
We ordered sushi and drunk noodles. The food was excellent. The sushi was fresh, the noodles were a perfect spice level for mild and the service was great
Always great
Best Thai restaurant in Reston! Not only the food but the service as well!
Amazing service and quality food, a must when I am back from college
Sushi were very mediocre. Spicy rolls (ex: spicy tuna) were all the same and were basically sprinkled on top with sriracha(!). Come on?! Other rolls were also bland similar to each other. Not worth it.
Sushi was great, atmosphere was awesome, and service was better!
Great sushi! Did not try the Thai, but the service and sushi were excellent!
Our server was amazingly attentive and friendly. The food was delicious - we ordered a variety of items and everyone was very pleased with their order.
Repeat client and appreciate a dining experience where the restaurant appreciates you coming to dine with them. A yummy and well executed Thai restaurant, hidden away in an upscale office park in Reston, VA. Food, service and experience always on point. My go to for delivery, happy hour and dining.
Our new go to favorite restaurant in Reston. We have been coming here weekly now for months. Love the sushi, crispy basil chicken, drunken noodles, curries, and mango and sticky rice. Service is good and friendly. Try it! You won’t regret it!
Our favorite Thai and sushi restaurant in NOVA. They treat us like VIPs every time.
Friendly staff, nice setting, and great food. Our favorite restaurant in Reston area, eating here almost monthly.
This is my husband’s and my favorite restaurants; we love this place! It’s quiet with a beautiful atmosphere, and the food is excellent. We’ve tried several other Thai places in the area, but their crispy duck basil is definitely the best. Their Thai tea, pad see ew, and sushi are so good too, and all for very reasonable prices. The waitstaff are very attentive and friendly; we enjoy coming here for regular date nights.
Wonderful place to eat in Reston. Delicious Thai food, ambiance, sweet personable staff and great service!
Strongly recommend! Sushi and the curry were both excellent! The sushi was some of the best I’ve had and the service was amazing!
We came in late and had sushi. Everything was amazing! The service was especially great. Would recommend!
Ordered on door dash and the pictures grossly misrepresented what we’d be receiving in our order. The portions were no where near worth the price, I genuinely thought we received the wrong order because what we got was about a third of what we were expecting based on the price. Very disappointing, wegmans has better sushi for better prices.
Fast, professional, quick, and really, really good.
👍😄😁
Awesome find while in town for work! Everything was amazing - apps and meal. I will definitely be back.
The only issue I had was the sushi was advertised as an 8 piece roll and it came out with 6 instead. Unsure if that is always the case. Regardless, still very delicious food!
I've had Thai once or twice before, and my Mom never has, and tonight we both ordered and became Thai food fans and cant wait to order Saao again. I loved the Pad Thai w/Pork and Cruncy Spicy Tuna Roll, and my Mom really enjoyed her Drunken Noodles and Spring Rolls. Thanks so much!
Great food and excellent service. It was great to find a Thai and sushi restaurant in one place. Our first visit was great. We will be back.
Delicious, authentic, and diverse range of Thai specialties, as well as a large selection of sushi, impeccably presented. The curries (green and red) were well-flavored and generously portioned, and the soft-shell crab roll was fresh and delicious.
Ordered pickup and was disappointed with the food. Very small portions for what the price is, and everything was so bland it was almost unappetizing. We requested “hot” on most food items but everything was mild. The flavor does not taste authentic like other establishments but the restaurant itself is quite nice.
New favorite sushi in Reston! Good selection and prices are reasonable.
Lunch has good selection. Atmosphere relax and quiet. Service great.
A great spot to stop in for their lunch special. Entree, 2 appetizers, and a California roll for under $25. Service is super quick, I was in and out in under 30 minutes.
Lunch special is great. Set c.
This review is long overdue. I've been coming to Saao for the better part of 2 years; the food and atmosphere is what drew me in initially, but the service is a large part of the reason it stands out for me. This is my favorite restaurant in the area (plus as of this writing they are open until 10 pm 7 days a week, who doesn't love some late-night Thai or sushi?). TL;DR: great food, great service, spacious seating in a relaxing atmosphere.
Food:
Where do I begin. I have never had food here that I disliked. My favorites are the crispy shrimp gra prao or gra prao ped (basically breaded and fried shrimp or duck with rice and veggies in a spicy Thai chili basil sauce that's to die for). Honestly though I've had everything from their pad Thai to their curries to their sushi and quite enjoyed all of it. As far as I remember it's always come out at a good temperature too. They rotate specials/new menu items fairly regularly as well - I definitely recommend the new poke nachos, I really liked them. Nice mix of crunchy and soft, and a nice marinade on the poke.
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere is great for a few reasons. 1.) It's spacious. They have a large restaurant and the tables are spaced out enough to avoid feeling crammed in like you might at other area restaurants like Umai or Yu Noodles (both of which have food I love but spaces that make me prefer take out). 2.) The restaurant is filled with art. The two side walls have multiple carved wooden reliefs that stretch halfway from floor to ceiling, filled with floral patterns. There are multiple wooden statues of the Buddha in various positions around the floor, and there's a table that appears to have been carved out of a single stump, with elephants worked into the sides in a clever manner that makes it look like there are layers of them continuing deeper into the middle of it. There is a small multi-tiered water feature near the bay windows with (fake) flowers floating in it. The music is usually something of the easy-listening variety or slow covers of pop songs - not my favorite, but it's played at a nice volume, not too loud like a lot of places. There are two TVs over the bar, and they normally have sports on one and the news or a cooking show on the other, both muted with captions enabled. All in all, it's just a nice, relaxing vibe.
Service:
For the first year or so that I was coming here, I'd always get a table and just put my earbuds in (because I was dining late, I was usually dining alone and it was never crowded enough for me to feel guilty about taking up a table by myself). I enjoy listening to music a lot, so it was nice to come to a spacious restaurant and enjoy good food while listening to music and "introverting" a bit to recharge after work. But one day I came in during a busier time and felt that I should sit at the bar to avoid taking one of their last tables. Next thing you know one of the waitresses starts making conversation with me, we find out we both like watching kdramas and are both computer programmers, and boom. Fast forward a year and I have like 25 new kdramas I need to watch, and I haven't sat anywhere other than the bar since then (shout out to Tiffany and Mint! I'll catch up with the shows eventually I promise 😅). I haven't had the pleasure of getting to know any of the other waitstaff, but everyone is very nice and service is prompt no matter who you talk to.
Incredible food with an even more incredible atmosphere! The inside of the restaurant decorated very well and kept nice and tidy. I've only ordered takeout from here but plan on dining in soon, the fried rice is amazing!! Definitely recommend
Love this place!! Food is always amazing. And when I'm feeling lazy the takeout is always on point.
I love the pineapple fried rice 🍍 and padthai! Medium spicy is that type of spice that is just enough without leaving a burn.
My Thai wife cooks here and she is fairly well followed at four different Thai restaurants in the area by Thai cuisine lovers. I may be biased but she is the best.... Putting lots of care and expertise into all she does, when it comes to Thai cooking--she is the real thing!
The Saao noodles were perfectly spicy and the sushi was also great. The daily specials are great and the small plates are fun to try just a little of things. Definitely recommend, they were not too busy either so it was nice and quiet.
Tldr; both the sushi and Thai food are delicious.
My bf and I decided last minute on sushi. This restaurant is located conveniently in the plaza America complex, so plenty of parking.
It was surprisingly dead for a Friday evening. There were only one or two other groups when we got there.
Luckily for us it was happy hour! We started with the happy hour gyoza and calamari. The dipping sauce with the gyoza was shockingly good. I would buy a bottle of that sauce if they sold it!! The calamari was pretty mid and needed more flavor. We also got the happy hour margarita and Sapporo beer. The marg mostly tasted like sour mix. It wasn’t bad, I just like my margs to have at least a hint of tequila.
Next we got the shrimp tempura roll, crunchy spicy salmon roll, and happy hour 7 piece nigiri sushi platter. I’m generally not a fan of avocado (and they put it in pretty much every specialty roll), but I didn’t hate it in the tempura roll. It probably helped me that I (blasphemously) dipped it in the leftover gyoza sauce. So good! The nigiri tasted fresh and was beautifully plated. The salmon roll was also pretty good.
As my main, I got the Pad Gra Prao (sp¿). It had two out of three peppers for the spicy level and that was a gamble for me. I like spicy but I’m not great at handling it. My first couple bites were just a little bit of spice and absolutely devine. Little did I know, the real spice was hiding in the brown sauce. I got about halfway through before I was both sniffling and full. Again, I’m not great at spicy and there’s a solid chance this really isn’t that spicy, I’m just weak. Overall super tasty dish and I brought home the leftovers!
We were both surprised at how good the food and service was with how empty the restaurant was. Don’t sleep on this place. The staff is incredibly nice and the food is totally worth venturing outside of Reston Town Center.
Excellent Sushi rolls and Thai curries. Large and comfortable space with Happy hour.
We had a few vegetarian sushi rolls, Thai Curries, drunken noodles, spring rolls, pot stickers etc. Liked most of the items we tried, we have eaten in 5+ Thai restaurants in the area, this is one of the best. We love coming here because of the veg Sushi rolls and happy hour. The fountains and decor are excellent. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Hope they do well and we will keep going back.
SAAO is a restaurant which perfectly blends Japanese and Thai cuisine and allows for a dining experience where one can experience these different types of cuisine independently in the same meal. This combined with the wonderful quality of food creates a great dining experience.
The happy hour deals were great!! We got gyozas for $4, Wednesday sushi special Atlantic roll for $11, and the 7 piece nigiri combo for $12. There was a decent amount of fish in the sushi. From the regular menu, we got the chicken basil fried rice. Food and service were great
Lovely food, decor, and service. I had Thai and my daughter had sushi. We both enjoyed our tasty food (and we are picky). The service was delightfully friendly and super fast. We really enjoyed the fusion decor, including fountains and Thai woodwork. There's also a nice pond nearby for those with a few minutes to enjoy the weather. We will certainly return.
The decor was beautiful The food was light but it left me satisfied and the service was good our waiter was very polite I recommend going here
Great food, great service. Had the Saao Noodle with chicken and my companion had Basil Fried Rice with chicken. Excellent!!
It was a wonderful little spot with great food and very attentive staff! So worth the visit…will be back again!
The drunken noodle with shrimp was pretty tasty and I really enjoyed their saba nigiri, but not the other rolls/sushi as much. The nigiri was also a little more expensive than some other places. I would definitely go back for their Thai dishes and that specific nigiri, but maybe not others.
Weirdly, I also thought their water was also really good. I know that sounds crazy, but it just was so much better than regular tap water elsewhere. She said they didn't filter or do anything to it, so must be magic. lol.
Great green curry.
Great quality and friendly service. The decor here is absolutely beautiful. There are good vegetarian roll options as well.
Great spot for Thai and sushi! They are also very gluten free friendly, from gluten free soy sauce for sashimi to gluten free noodle dishes. The inside is beautiful and the staff are wonderful too. Highly recommend
Second time eating food from here, but first time dining in. The restaurant was clean and staff was friendly and provided great service. We’ve enjoyed the sushi both times and the miso soup was quite delicious. This has become our go-to sushi establishment in Reston.
Delicious! Both the Thai and Sushi are amazing here. Extra props to the Pad Thai, I am picky about that one. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy, the cocktails are tasty and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend!
I have been here a few times and can’t say enough good things! I’m still sitting here enjoying my delicious dinner and just had to give a well deserved, exceptional review for them! Amazing sushi and sashimi (&wine) Perfect place for a nice solo night out or for catching up with friends & dates!
I really like this place now. I had a bad experience with the food when i tried it delivered, but i decided to try it again and It’s been good. The sushi rolls are good (mostly with tempura and sauces style) and the Thai dishes taste good. My kids enjoy the food too. Glad I tried it again!
Excellent sashimi, rolls, drunken noodles and satay. So freshly prepared - can't go wrong at SAAO Thai and Sushi!
Food was excellent, price was very reasonable and service was good
Delicious food, bith the Thai dishes and the sushi. Very friendly and attentive staff. It's one of our favorites.
Great sushi and Thai food
This is probably our favorite restaurant in Reston. Every time we go it is amazing- the green curry is one of the best things I've eaten and the sushi is wonderful. We bring everyone to this spot because it is the best!
Bad worker not nice
I love Thai food and eat it often. Was looking for a new place that would be my “regular” in the area and tried this place with high hopes. When I called for take out during lunch time, they said they don’t do the lunch menu/prices for take out, only for dine in. Ok, that’s fine, so I ordered from the regular menu. I have two issues:
1. The portion was very *very* small for the curry dish. I am thinking they must have charged me the regular price but packed the lunch size. Even then, the food was much less than lunch sizes at other Thai places. The rice was 65-50% less than what’s customary - almost one third of what you get elsewhere! I happened to have jasmine rice at home, otherwise, what the restaurant gave was finished in literally a few bites. The curry itself was just about a lunch portion, a bit less. Definitely not dinner size, which is what I paid. I understand there’s inflation and cost cutting. But come on, rice?
2. They used way too much sugar in the dish. I order and cook Thai food myself, too, and this was the sweetest I ever had it. Even the spices couldn’t cover it.
The restaurant looked inviting and the staff very friendly during pick up. I could have given them another try despite the sugar levels but, the size did it for me. Not going back.
