We got take out here and they included edamame. We had the best chicken pad Thai and drunken noodles. Also highly recommend the curry puffs!

Diner Review №3

This place is a true gem!

The appetizers alone are worth the visit—especially the crispy spring rolls and the puffs, both of which were full of authentic flavors and cooked to perfection.

For the main course, the Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodles were absolutely fantastic. The spice level was spot on, and the noodles were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor.

The Green Curry was another highlight, with rich coconut milk and the right amount of spice, complemented by fresh Thai eggplant and basil

Beyond the food, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is friendly and attentive.

Kob Kun is a must-try.

If you are craving Thai Food; I would say this is very authentic Thai. Best I had in years. The pad Thai noodles were perfectly cooked. Not over cooked soggy. The crispy duck was amazing tasty. We loved Thai Green Curry perfect blend. East here with confidence. Service was a bit slow. Only one server. But it was very very busy so understandable it is a great restaurant. Chang Beer was refreshing.

I visited Kob Kun Thai on Christmas Eve, not because it’s a favorite, but because every other restaurant was fully booked, and this was the only one with available seating. Unfortunately, my experience confirmed why that might be the case.

We ordered papaya salad as an appetizer, only to find several strands of hair in the dish. I brought this to the waiter’s attention, showed them the hairs, and returned the dish. However, there was no apology—just indifference. The staff seemed more interested in chatting and laughing among themselves than addressing the issue professionally. To add insult to injury, the papaya salad was still included in the final bill.

Despite everything, I left a 20% tip—it was Christmas Eve, after all—but I will never return to this restaurant. Both the service and the food were unacceptable. It’s disappointing that such a poorly managed establishment exists in our neighborhood.

The food is so so in terms of authentic Thai compared to other options in the area. Been here a couple of times now, the staff is very friendly, but food just doesn’t hit the mark for me.

Diner Review №10

Job Kun is an authentic Thai restaurant in the little shopping mall off Chain Bridge Rd. near Jermantown intersection. The restaurant did a fantastic job of accommodating our group of 13. The food is always super fresh, the staff eager to assist, and the owner very trustworthy. They can accommodate mild or hot preferences. Try them! You won't be disappointed!

Diner Review №11

Always fresh and staff are nice.

Diner Review №12

Good but. It's too little calamari to pay 16 dollars. I don't recommend it.

Diner Review №13

Relaxed Cafe for the best Thai food for miles around. Staff is friendly and makes sure you get what you need for a great meal.

Diner Review №14

This gem is hidden off the road. Food is excellent favor. I had Lad Na, Gravy over noodle. It is perfect favor. You must try it!

Diner Review №15

My daughter and I have made this "our place" to go together when it's just the 2 of us. The atmosphere is cozy and the food is always good with decent portions. The mango sticky rice is our favorite.

Diner Review №16

One of the best Thai places I’ve been to in a while. The food was amazing and the prices are very reasonable.

For starters, we got the only chicken tom kha and the yum caramelized dried fish salad. Both were out of this world. The tom kha was packed with chicken and vegetables, but the soup itself was good enough to eat on its own. This was the first time we tried a caramelized dried fish salad but it’s probably our favorite now.

For entrees, we got the fish prik glua and crispy duck with basil. Both were wonderful. Each came with a good amount of fish/duck and vegetables. We were too full to get desert but will definitely try next time.

Diner Review №17

My friends and I love this place so much. It used to be right around the corner from me and now is a 25 min drive but still so worth it!!! Workers are very polite, food comes out fast, great portions, and can’t beat the free edamame appetizer (even with take out orders). I love Kob Kun so much :)

Diner Review №19

The best drunken noodles and pad ped talay around here.

Diner Review №20

I ordered Crispy Spring Rolls, Drunken Noodles (Beef), and Pad Thai (Chicken).

The food was SOOOO GOOD. One of the best Thai restaurants in Fairfax/Oakton/Vienna area.

The portion was just right. They used fresh ingredients even though I picked up my food around 9:15 PM before their closing time.

The egg rolls had just the perfect amount of stuffings and crust. My drunken noodles beef tasted so good. Beef was very well marinated and both the noodles and beef were stir-fried correctly.

This place will be my go to Thai place from now on… Thank you for making really good Thai food!

Diner Review №21

Overall had a great experience. Prices are reasonable. Servers are very attentive and nice. They even gave free edamame as a starter for lunch which I loved.

For me, my “drunken fried rice” wasn’t flavorful. The spice level was good. And the ingredients seemed fresh. But it was bland for me. I think missing more garlic and oyster sauce. I also don’t think they used Thai peppers. There was a lot of black pepper, which I’ve never seen for a Thai dish. Should use white pepper instead.

My friend has the jungle curry was delicious and flavorful.

The shrimp cakes were good as well. But not great and would’ve preferred Thai fish cakes.

Diner Review №22

Had a great mother's day lunch here, food was very tasty and well done. The only thing I would take a star away for was the crispy duck, it was not crispy and covered in a sweet sauce, very different than how I've had it before

Diner Review №23

My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The food was really tasty and flavorful as well as quick. Definitely recommend!

Diner Review №24

This place has great food and some of the best service you’ll ever see. They gave us free rice for our leftovers and free edamame as an appetizer.

Diner Review №25

Food was great😋

Diner Review №26

We had a very satisfying dinner at this Thai restaurant. The portions were large and of high quality. Even the ice cream servings were huge, delicious, and had gourmet flavors.

Diner Review №27

I've been eating here for years. One of the best Thai food I've ever had. It tastes just like the food I ordered in Thailand. I really like the strong red chili flavors in the dishes, such as the nua nam tok and drunken noodle, which are really succulent. Food does take time, but it is worth the wait. Other entree recommendations are the pad kra pow, crabmeat fried rice, and the crispy duck with the basil.

Diner Review №28

Passed by this store multiple times before and did not disappoint!!

The atmosphere of the restaurant was super nice, the decor was so pretty and the staff was super kind and friendly.

The food was great as well! The pad Thai with soft tofu was delicious, not too sweet and savory. The drunken noodles were good as well, next time I’ll ask for them to be spicier.

Overall I would 10/10 recommend this place

Diner Review №29

Hubby and I were leaving Tyson’s Galleria, I wanted Thai food. He found this quiet little nook. The menu is wide. We both are trying to do better at portion control this year, so we spilt an entree and ordered the crispy spring rolls. Spring rolls were cute but delicious. When the entree came out, hubby and I both agreed that it was a good thing we split it. It was ENORMOUS! By no means am I complaining, I’m not used to it. Most Thai restaurants give you a conservative portion. The food was delicious and the service was good. I asked for the condiments on the side, the peppers were HOT. Just the way I love it. Beware the chili’s were VERY HOT 💕💕

Diner Review №35

unfriendly

Diner Review №36

TLDR: solid quiet local spot for Thai food, reasonable pricing, good flavor + texture + variety

They start you with some edamame for free to munch on while you order. We got papaya salad, which tasted very fresh and had good texture and crunch. Then we had chicken pad Thai and drunken noodles with tofu, which had good spice and a lot of heterogeneity when it came to taste and texture. The noodles were cooked nicely, and they layer their dishes with different elements like peanuts, fresh produce (tomatoes, cilantro, bean sprouts), and your proteins.

Service was nice too, food came out at a reasonable time. The selection of beers were also interesting, would definitely like to try out next time.

This is the best Thai food I've had in a long time.

Beautiful and clean inside restaurant, super polite and awesome staff. More than reasonable portions. And the food is just to die for.

Diner Review №40

Kob Kun is hands down the best in NOVA. I have tried 5+ Thai restaurants in the area and I always come back here. (It is a problem I probably order 1x a week) but the green curry, the pad thai, the spring rolls, the drunken noodles, and tom kha are always delicious. The food has so much flavor and the spice level is so customizable which is perfect! The staff is so kind and I truly love the whole experience. Definitely recommend!

Diner Review №41

Let me start by saying Thai food is my absolute favorite. However, since moving to Virginia we have struggled to find really good Thai food. We found one place that was very good, but they were recently sold and the new food was not as good nor as fresh.

So we began our search again. After trying 4 other Thai restaurants in the Vienna area, we finally found a winner. Kob Kun Fine Thai cuisine is hands down the best Thai food I've had in NOVA.

I ordered the Nua Nam Tok (beef salad) and Tom Yum soup, which is my standard order when trying a new Thai restaurant. Both were outstandng. The salad ingredients were clearly very fresh and the perfect blend of citrus lime and spiciness. The soup was extraordinary as well. Portions were perfect size for healthy living, and I saved half of each for lunch the next day.

The only downside was that it was a bit of a wait at 20 minutes for carry-out. But to be honest, I had searched years to find Thai food this good again, so to me it was undoubtedly worth it. I can't wait to go back and try the Panang Curry, chili basil eggplant, and everything else on their menu.

I ordered lamp chops and noodles to go. Asked the lady about if the lamp chops could be made not spicy, she said yes not spicy. Also requested noodles not spicy. Both dishes when I got home were super spicy to eat. Threw dish out. Waste of money.

Diner Review №45

Kob Kun is the best Thai food around. It's a family favorite. We like everything, but some standouts are the crispy fried green beans, spring rolls, pad Thai, panang curry, cashew chicken, and fried rice. We also enjoy an occasional Thai iced tea (sugar bomb).

Portions are large and we usually get two meals out of each entree.

Diner Review №46

Hands down one of the best Thai places in the DC area, if not the East Coast. I haven't had such tasty and perfect Thai dishes for quite a while. The restaurant is tucked in an inconspicuous mall in Fairfax where we have passed by hundreds of times. Only recently we tried it out in the spirit of food adventures. It blew my expectations out of the water. I had panang curry with pork. In most other Thai places the pork can be really dry and tasteless, but not here. The pork was marinated, tender, juicy and consistent with the curry soup. There are a variety of fresh vegetable ingredients in the soup, giving a premium feel of the dish. I felt like a Thai royalty dining here. All other dishes my family ordered came out beating expectations, showing the consistency of the qualities. We will definitely be back.

Diner Review №47

The best Thai food I've eaten for a while. Definitely recommend eating here when you have the time!

Diner Review №48

the serving sizes are large, the staff were really nice and the food was really delicious

Diner Review №49

Great place!!!

Diner Review №50

Diner Review №51

Food same as usual, service not great... Need to re-evaluate how often we try other places.

Diner Review №52

This place was phenomenal. They bring out edamame with two different sauces right away when you sit down. The wait staff was very pleasant and checked to make sure we enjoyed our meals. They checked to see how spicy we wanted the entrees which is nice. Very authentic dishes really enjoyed the crispy chicken basil entree. The chicken was lightly fried and quite tasty! The mango and sticky rice was a work of art and quite enjoyable and to a meal. We'll be going back for more.

Diner Review №53

Lunch was perfect. Great food, great service.
The Panang Curry was excellent!

I just had the pleasure of dining at Kob Kun Fine Thai Cuisine for lunch and it was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was cosy, creating a very comfortable and inviting dining experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating as well, which made the whole experience even better. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious Thai cuisine in a welcoming environment. Overall, Kob Kun Fine Thai Cuisine definitely exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to come back for another meal soon.

Diner Review №56

If there's one thing a Thai place has to be able to do, it's make a good Pad Thai. Good thing they got it down! Pad Thai was bussin for real. Service was also super quick. Great place!

Diner Review №57

This is one of our family favorite restaurants. I always get the crispy duck. My sister always gets the sukiyaki. They never disappoint. Food and drinks always come out fresh and deciduous. Definitely get the calamari for appetizer and Thai iced tea to drink. The free edamame they bring out is cool too.

Good Thai food, but need to cut down on broccoli.

Diner Review №62

Recently moved to the area from San Diego where you can throw a rock and hit an amazing Thai restaurant, and this is the best Thai food I’ve ever had. We ordered way more than what we needed to try a bunch of different items; there was not a “low note” in the meal. Everything was phenomenal! We will definitely be back.

Diner Review №63

Absolutely amazing Thai place in Oakton! Every single dish we tried was delicious, and we tried eight different things. Our favorite was the mango sticky rice. The mango was candy sweet and the sticky rice was just slightly savory. Also, the Lab Na was very flavorful and they brought us extra chili pepper so we could make the dish spicy to our taste. Please visit this family owned business and support a local restaurant. You will be very, very happy you did!

Diner Review №64

The way the curry tastes during the afternoon and the evening is day and night. When I order my curry in the daytime, the curry is perfect. The nighttime orders I find the curry watery and the flavors aren't as good. I really love this place, please get the consistency of the curry right.

Diner Review №65

I can highly recommend the shrimp entree. It was excellent.

Diner Review №66

Nice little Thai eatery on the corner of a strip mall in Oakton, VA. The ambiance here is modern and clean, with food presentation to match. The food itself is quite delicious. Fried items are nice and crispy. Lots of vegetables and color in their dishes. Sometimes a bit much sauce and sweetness, but the flavors are otherwise very close to authentic. I really enjoyed the crispy duck with basil. It had more vegetables than commonly found at other establishments, but I really appreciated that because they were cooked nicely and complimented the dish quite well. The facility is very clean, and staff is very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to try some excellent Thai cuisine.

Diner Review №68

I got a Thai tea, spring rolls, pad Thai, drunken noodles, and panang curry. I was disappointed with everything except the curry. The tea had a strange flavor like they had used a cleaner in the container and hadn’t washed out all the residue. The spring rolls were unlike most spring rolls I’ve had, I was expecting like veggie spring rolls but the only things inside were chicken and rice noodles. The drunken noodles were just okay. My boyfriend did not like his pad Thai which is his favorite dish usually. I tried the curry today and it was pretty good.

I love everything that kopkun makes. However, I wish that they had better sense of washing dishes. I stop dining at kopkun due to their unclean plates and steel cleaning pieces found in my food. I politely requested to get new plate when I saw the dirty plate, but then I got different dirty dishes and cups...

Diner Review №84

I am joining the choir. My first visit Kob Kun was tonight for dinner and I already know I will become a regular. I was there at high traffic, busy, Friday night dinner time. Seating was full with exception of 3 high top tables for 2 at each placed butted up against the bar. No bar seating, blocked by these 3 high tops. Odd but not deal killing deterrent. I sat at one of them noting that in addition to restaurant filled to capacity there was brisk carry out service. The staff was not at all stressed out just going about taking care of business. Entire scene felt relaxed.

Complimentary edamame was delicious. Peas were fresh and perfectly steamed served with flavorful Sriracha that the chef added a bit of vinegar and ginger making already great Sriracha even better. Also, accompanied by soy having a dash of sugar added. Entrée, Krapow was excellent. Perfectly prepared fresh ingredients served piping hot. Somebody at Kob Kun knows to serve food on heated serving dishes. In my opinion and experience price point is bargain considering high quality ingredients, skilled preparation, attention to details of service and located in high rent commercial zone.

Let me tell you I have been going here since 2014 and have never stopped, the food is amazing, I crave it every weekend!! The fried string beans with the dipping sauce and the sukiyaki soup has been my staple for over 7 years. You definitely need to check this place out as I’ve been to many Thai restaurant but nothing compares to this one! I’ve never written a review on my favorite place and I thought it was time for this exquisite place to review its earned 5 stars, the place is very comfortable and home like, soft lighting, the waiters are amazing and attentive as well, kinda compact place but the chefs definitely do an outstanding job each time. Check it out !!

It was 8:00 before we had dinner. 1:45 hour wait it awful.

Went back for lunch and got one of their specials. The flavor wasn't very good and the chicken was not cooked well (breast over cooked, thigh under done with a piece of bone in it). Less than attentive service. Was surprised that there was not a lunch special. Removed a star.

Excellent Thai food! As another reviewer said, this was the best mango sticky rice I've ever had. The drunken noodles had great flavor, was a large portion and good spice. A little on the pricey side for Thai, but worth it! I will definitely be back to try more.

Delicious food. I love their menu selection, lots of choices but not overwhelming. The curries are great, drunken noodles are solid, and the sleeper is the kob kun fried rice - it's the best fried rice around.

The service is consistently good; at times they can get busy where you can wait a little longer for things but hey, if fast is your main priority - get takeout or go to Chipotle next door.

Everyone is very attentive and they provide a relaxing environment to dine. I highly recommend.

Diner Review №165

My first visit to Kob Kun was just okay, nothing specifically wrong with it but also nothing impressive that made me want to come back. (That was sometime in 2014).

Yesterday I decided to give it another try.

+
*Service was fast and they were very friendly. We needed to remind them once to refill our water cups, but after that it got refilled right away without delay.
*They brought us a complimentary order of fried green beans which was tasty.
*I usually order the drunken noodles and I like their vegetable portion as well as their overall portion. Vegetables that it contained were (Jalapeños, green/red peppers, basil leaves, tomatoes, and mushrooms).
*Loved their thinly sliced jalapeños dunked in vinegar. Of course too much of it is always going to be spicy, but in moderation, it was an excellent side dish.
*Their green tofu curry was good! But I may recommend getting a meat over the tofu.
*Their appetizer fried tofu's are very delicious. A must try!

-
*I'm a huge spice, sauce, and jalapeños fan and I wasn't a huge fan of having to ask for every single thing I needed to make my meal perfect. For example: I had to ask for the vinegar covered jalapeños instead of it already being at the table with a couple of other main sauces. I also had to ask for a side of sriacha sauce. They were however, very quick to bring us what we needed to our table.
*Although portions are good, I do think that it's not worth the price and could be a bit cheaper. I've made pad see ew at home once and getting all the ingredients for it was one of the cheapest meals I've ever made at home.
*The chicken red curry wasn't that great when I tried it last time. It tasted a bit on the watery side.

Overall, great friendly staff, and great food. Will be coming back!

We ordered fish the first time, and the second time we ordered regular pad thai and it was great!

Diner Review №197

We were on our way to Richmond and had lunch here leaving very satisfied with our experience.
AMBIANCE: very clean, modern looking and cozy.
FOOD: very fresh and tasty, huge portions, great spicy Thai flavors. Highlights: Chive dumplings, Green curry, Drunken Noodle. Nice touch was a complimentary edamame with flavorful dipping.
SERVICE: very nice, efficient and right on point.
VALUE: was very good.
Definitely a worth destination for our future travelling in the area.

A lot of thai places are hit or miss but this place is consistently good. Always love me some pad thai.
