I think that other multiple businesses that haven't succeeded at this location have possibly given a bad wrap to this business.

I have been watching this business and noticed not much business was going on here, but I did give it a try last evening AND so glad I did! I ordered dumplings, a soup, and coconut pudding. ALL were very flavorful and satisfying. The soup, I did ask for it not to be spicy, but it was, it took me a while, but I made it through it; and enough was leftover to take home. I almost forgot to mention that the waitress brought me a salad with ginger dressing, refreshing.

The coconut pudding was a new dessert for me to try. The waitress did mention for me to be sure to eat the top and bottom layer together all in one bite. There are two gelatin layers. The bottom is mostly like a gelatin paste, and the top definitely is the coconut flavoring, but together, it is very tasty!

The customer service was excellent. She came back several times to check and make sure everything was satisfactory. She continued to refill my water glass, and when I requested a to go container and bag, she was more than happy to accommodate. I really do recommend stopping rather than bypassing this local Norfolk establishment. Even if the parking lot is empty, give it a try. I believe you will be very happy you did as I was. I will be returning to this local establishment again.

20 yrs in Asia here and I found this local spot a solid choice. Cheaply-priced decent portions of yummy hot food served quickly by very friendly staff in a nice simple atmosphere environment. Had pad see ew, chicken satay, and a Thai tea for lunch this week. Ample parking easy-to-find location. Would come back to try the spicy dishes.

When you put a Thai restaurant in the hood it should be a gamble but the helpful staff explained the dishes. The food was good a little bit spicy than predicted. Still enjoyed my meal, parking was no problem and clean bathrooms. I can't wait to go back.

This is a go to for Thai food. Food is really good. We take out most of the time. Service has always bern good. Typically they seem to be busy all the time. Dining in is not bad but don't expect much from the atmosphere.

Mum likes the seafood curry , though we also tried nicely spiced mango curry and papaya salad. Super fast service. The pad thai was a bit sweet for me and doesn't have a smoky touch or as much peanuts but it's a good find for Norfolk. Sometime ago one of the host were also going through law school and as some of the reviews said they work very hard.

First time trying here. I just ordered the papaya salad and it’s the best in the area. I’ve only liked one other papaya salad that is located in the va beach area. This restaurant has authentic Thai food (coming from a Thai person). I really like their mango curry, pineapple fried rice and egg rolls. Definitely be careful with the spice level because they do authentic Thai level spicy. And I LOVE IT! The staff are also really nice! I have both dine in and take out. I would 100% recommend this place to my friends!

Quick service from the start! We were a group of five as walk-ins for a sit-down lunch. The staff was very friendly and got right to us. They helped us in some of our menu decisions. Food is good but do not waste your money on the thai tea because they charge $5.50 for it and they fill the cup all the way with ice then add the tea and if you want less ice it's 50 cents more and if you ask for no ice it's $1 more. That's highway robbery in my opinion.

Ordered carry out and my food was ready and extremely hot right when they said it would be.

Spring rolls and the dipping sauce was top tier, I liked the spice level of the citrus sauce and the consistency.

I got pad see ew with medium spice, I felt it was more mild than expected but that’s fine, I do wish it had more sweet soy sauce as it’s a little more savory than other places I’ve tried up in DC.

Service was kind and welcoming and so was the restaurant atmosphere.

Visited ORF for work. Had the duck panang curry which was excellent. Also tried my co-worker's squid stir fry and shrimp red curry. All were very good. And came with a small side salad for dinner! Wish I tried the mango sticky rice.

This place used to be AMAZING!! Came here EVERY WEEK BUT they recently got new management or something and they are headed downhill. Stopped doing military discount which is fine because honestly the food used to be worth it but then the food started lacking quality as well. Spring rolls had RAW vegetables in them, Curry had zero seasoning and fried rice lacked some serious TLC. It went from being amazing to a below average Thai place.

When I say this restaurant is the best Thai food around I mean it! I have tried hundreds of Thai shops in dozens of cities and countries and none have compared to this place! Nothing comes close for miles around! Cannot recommend enough! Ps try the green curry HOT

My favorite curry place, hands-down. The panang curry is unbeatable- if you get anything, try that. I'd been very mildly disappointed with the spice level of 'crazy spicy' the last few times I ordered, but! I have since discovered that if you're really serious about wanting spice, say you want to 'regret being alive.' It's perfect, its delicious, its what I've been looking for for a long time. The rice is always perfectly cooked, the flavor is amazing, and the employees are very kind and helpful. 10/10, I recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

Our son’s favorite restaurant in Norfolk and the one we went to whenever we visited him. Every meal was delicious, produce was always super fresh, the service was always personal and friendly. Actually the young lady who served us every time is reason alone to visit this restaurant. We helped our son move yesterday and made sure to visit the Bangkok Thai Cuisine one last time on our way out. If you visit one restaurant in Norfolk, make sure it is this one, it really is a hidden gem.

This is an outstanding,small Thai restaurant with friendly staff and delicious, flavorful food. The staff set us up with a salad which was an unexpected treat. We are vegetarian so opted for tofu dishes...Masaman curry which was flavorful and with a portion size that was generous so we had Thai the next day. We'll be back. For tasty, affordable Thai, swing by this gem on Tidewater Dr.( on the Southern Shopping Center side). It is not in Southern Shopping Center but below it.
When you finish eating,rather than making a left on crazy Tidewater Dr., exit and make a right,go to the light and make a right, then follow the road, and it will take you out to the light. Much safer than making a left onto Tidewater Dr.

The shrimp fried rice amazing.. you are able to choose your spice level.. which was nice.. the shrimp pad thai amazing.. love my spring roll and thai ice tea.. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I wish I could leave zero stars.

On Monday 12/19/2022 at 6:00PM, my husband and I placed an order with Bangkok Thai via a third party app “Smile Dining” online. We were advised via email that the order would be ready for pickup in 15 minutes and we went to pick up our order at 11 W Hundred Rd, Chester VA 23836. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed. We assumed there was a mistake in communication between the restaurant and the app, as we called the restaurant in Chester and they were indeed closed. We intended to wait until the next day of business to call and confirm the order was placed during closed hours. At 8:30 PM, we received a call from Bangkok Thai asking if we were coming to pick up the food. I questioned the caller as the restaurant was clearly closed. After asking several times, the caller stated the restaurant they were calling from was from Norfolk, VA. I explained to them that the order to their restaurant must have been a mistake on the app as my husband and I reside almost 2 hours from their location. The caller was very rude and became argumentative with me, asking me what he should do with the food? After almost 10 minutes of him arguing with me, despite me explaining the mistake in the app and the distance from their location, I handed the phone to my husband because the caller continued to berate me. Eventually the caller stated he would issue the refund for the food. On 12/22/22, the charge was processed with my bank and the refund was not issued. I called the restaurant this evening to speak with a manger and I was placed back on the phone with the same individual. He claimed he was the kitchen manager and then told me he was a server, and a chef, and not a manager unless he “wanted to be”. He told me that he only stated the refund would be issued “so I would shut up”. He continued to belittle me and taunt me, and refused to give me the mangers name or the next day they would be in the restaurant, or to issue a refund. He told me to “let it go”.
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau on 12/22/22. It is now 1/13/2023. BBB advised me of the following: Your Better Business Bureau (BBB) has made several attempts to contact the business regarding your complaint. We regret to inform you that we have not received a response at this time and this case has now been closed as an UNANSWERED complaint in their file. Because we are not a government agency, we cannot force a business to respond.

This is an incredibly unprofessional establishment, and I am appalled at the way their employees treated my family, and the failure of their manager to rectify the issue.

Just had some take out, but the food is simply delicious, and food is normally ready within the advertised time frame.

The place is very active with a constant stream of take out orders. The dining room even had several other guests. Even so our food was made quickly and very delicious.

Got the Iced Thai Tea and it tasted like it was pre made in a factory. Red curry was watery and not much flavor. The Steamed jasmine rice did not have the signature jasmine rice taste or smell. After eating a quarter on my food I had to stop because it was not good and I was left unsatisfied. I don’t understand where the 4.5 stats came from.

Small family owned restaurant with great food and friendly service. Most enjoyable. I'll go again. Pad Thai this visit, next time I'll have the Sweet and Sour pork. The recipe looks authentic, with bell pepper and pineapple, not just the pork and sauce.

Ordered online. Had the vegetarian tom kha and green vegetable curry, and I have to say, it was spicy AF. I ordered it medium, which is a 2 on a 1-5 scale, and seriously, I couldn't enjoy it. And I like spicy! I loved the rice (yay) and the service was fast and friendly. IDK if it was a fluke on the spicy level, but I recommend starting mild and seeing how that works for you.

Today was my first visit here. The food was really great as was the service. It's a cute restaurant with about 10 tables or so serving all the classic Thai dishes you would expect.

When I asked if they had filtered or bottled water, the waitress brought back more tap water in Styrofoam cup. After every time the waitress got something wrong, she went back and talked to the rest of the staff and they all started laughing. Other than that it was silent.

Honestly not real Thai cuisine. Has been too Americanized. For instance the Tom kah gai soup had lots of onions in it, barely any chicken and the no kefir leafs, lemongrass, galangal root mushrooms....all basic ingredients. Never had so many onions in this kind of soup anywhere. Have seen and eaten better .... abroad and in Thailand.
