We're Thai and Japanese restaurant located in Port Warwick area.
I only went in for the sushi and it is by far the best sushi I have had in a very long time. All of the Thai food looked and smelled fantastic, but I was in the mood for sushi and this spot did not dissapoint. The rice was perfect, good filling to rice ratio, and the spicy tuna is unlike any I've had before.
This spot is amazing.
The sushi is the freshest on the Peninsula! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Thaijindesu, and we will be back! The sushi was so fresh. I didn't realize the other sushi restaurants we frequent weren't as fresh until I had theirs. The only reason we hadn't been yet is because it's always so busy. We were late eating around 8 p.m., and the restaurant had plenty of patrons but a much smaller crowd with lots more seating options. It was a nice evening, and we considered sitting on the lovely patio however we chose inside for our first visit. It WAS SO GOOD!!! I can't wait to return and try some of the thai entrees as I love the international Thai spices and flavor. But this evening, we were only in the mood for sushi, and it did not disappoint.
Update: Our newest experience with the food was impeccable again. Hubby tried the crunch salmon roll, which was disappointing in flavor. There wasn't much to it! It was the least favorite we have tried. It wasn't gross but not good, either. We won't order it again. The Big John's Roll was 🔥. It will be on the favorite list. The Philadelphia roll was on point in flavor and freshness as usual. The service was disappointing this time. The restaurant was full at 8:30, with many guests preparing to depart. We were seated and didn't have a server visit to take our drink order for 10 minutes. We ordered everything at once. The server did not check in on flavor but did keep our waters full. We did not have a bad experience but were a little disappointed with the overall friendliness and attention. I would still recommend and recognize that We were in later and maybe servers were busy with closing side work.
Personally my husband & my favorite Thai place in town! We tried Tida Thai, but it’s just not the same as it used to be. Also Tida’s price has gone up. So we decided to try Thaijindesu & we’re so happy we did! Everything did take a while to serve, but it’s really fresh, warm, & delicious. It was definitely worth the wait. Our favorite was the Pad Thai.
Sooo.. I didn't think to post a picture until I was almost finished with the meal. But, this place was recommended by a friend. I ordered basil fried rice special and Thai tea during the lunch hours. They were both very delicious and had a refreshing taste! (Though I can't speak for the authenticity as I've never been to Thailand) the food here was one of the most delicious Thai meals I've had in the Hampton roads area!
Amazing! That's the best word to describe the food, atmosphere, and overall experience. The drunken noodles with pork did not disappoint. My husband had the nue siam with shrimp and loved it. We ordered various sushi to take home to our kids. I'm sure they will love it too.
I LOVE this restaurant!
They’re often full and have a wait to get food. I love to see it as that’s a sign they’ll stay in business a good, long time!
The food is always spectacular. I usually get a custom sushi roll and the pad Thai. Yum!!!
We loved this place! The staff is friendly and accommodating. The bathroom is clean, but be careful and make sure you lock the bathroom door all the way because I thought I locked it, and someone walked in on me lol.
But besides that, the food was delicious and fresh and prepared quickly. I recommend the dragon sushi roll and the shrimp pad Thai. We also ordered the wanton soup (that’s how it’s spelled on the menu), the spicy chicken wings (were not spicy, and you only get 4, and it was not cooked all the way through-but they took it back and didn’t charge us) and the pineapple fried rice.
The atmosphere was excellent and we were seated quickly even though it is a Saturday night and busy. Be advised they charge extra for spicy Mayo sauce for your sushi roll. They do have soy sauce on the table.
We definitely would come back again and the prices are reasonable. 😃
This is my absolute favorite restaurant. The sushi is phenomenal...no other place beats it. The service is always great and the food is so good!
Delicious Thai food! Excellent service and also great sushi. I recommend the massaman curry, pad kee mao, and the crab rangoons. Best crab rangoons I’ve ever had
My husband and I’s favorite sushi and Thai spot. Wild that they can do both so well. Well worth the prices. Service and ambiance is fantastic as well.
I only went in for the sushi and it is by far the best sushi I have had in a very long time. Delicious! This is our new thai spot! The pad thai, drunken noodles and fried rice are flavorful. Would recommend over other Thai places.
Simply Wonderful Food & Service . We have eaten here quite a few times before and never disappointed. Well done !!!
If you're a spice enthusiast, this is definitely the spot to check out. The sake martini was delicious, and my entree was equally impressive.
This is a very nice work or play spot!
Party of five and everyone was pleased with their lunches. The drunken noodles with tofu was amazing. Salad, crisp and scrumptious dressing. Great IPA.
Incredible food and excellent service! Our absolute FAVORITE restaurant!

Second time attempting to eat here. Tried on a Saturday around 2 and was told they were closed when they just opened at 12🤔 Against my better judgement we tried again was told it'll be a 20 minute wait even though we made reservations 🤔 sat us at the bar and didn't offer us a single drink🤔came back apologizing saying so sorry the wait the wait lady just take care of us we are aware of the wait can I get a drink!!! We left!!
Ken and his staff are truly the best. I highly recommend Thaijindesu for asian fusion.

Ok, I have to admit, I have been coming to this restaurant for years. My brother in law and sister in law know the owner and most of the staff. I have never had a less than 10 star experience here. The food is excellent, the service is top shelf, and the portions are just right. If you are wanting Thai food this is the place.
Great place to have lunch or dinner with friends, co-workers, and family. Staff was attentive and accommodating. We stayed for a long time after lunch was finished just to talk and staff did not mind.
Great sushi and service.
Great Service
I’ve been coming here for years and it’s my favorite Thai restaurant and the sushi is really good too! We always get the pad see ew and green curry and all kinds of sushi and it always tastes amazing! If you get takeout, double check the order before leaving!
Sooo.. I didn't think to post a picture until I was almost finished with the meal. But, this place was recommended by a friend. I ordered basil fried rice special and Thai tea during the lunch hours. Awesome spot for Thai and Japanese.
Greatest place to eat in the world. Friendly staff and very kind hearted chef. You can taste the love in the food.
Excellent place for thai food
Best Thai in the area. Can't comment on the authenticity but it is very tasty. Servers are always on point.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great.
This place is ALWAYS busy, that is why we did an online order for pickup. We were told 35 minutes for pickup but it was closer to an hour before it was ready. However, the food was worth the wait. Delicious and hot! All of our dishes were perfectly cooked and accurate.
Best Thai food and excellent service.
Excellent food. Exceptional service. Atmosphere is very nice. A small place, comparing to so many others, but I was very pleased. Total bill for 3 with alcohol and dessert was $95.00, which I found reasonable, considering the quality of the food. I do recommend.
Lighting for their signage is out and the tree blocking it makes this place difficult to spot after dark if you've never been here (situated on the corner). After 3 failed attempts of our credit card timing out an online order, we were informed their website is down despite being able to "check-out." However, we did not have any issues placing our order over the phone. Take-out was ready in <15 minutes on a late Saturday night & everything was piping hot. Tom Kah soup , dumplings & Shimp in a Blanket were enjoyable. Pad See Ew noodles were thick & gooey (in a good way if you like gummy texture). Beware their medium spicy is NOT on the milder side, which we appreciate, though some customers might be taken by surprise. Nothing wowed us in terms of flavor but perhaps the dine-in experience would be better.
The host was clearly annoyed at our presence, so we decided to just order to go. They didn't call when our order was ready and when we got the food home, We had no rice to go with our curry order. Yeah... Next time I'm going to Langley Thai on King Street.
They are always short staffed. Food level of quality has gotten worse. Plan for a long wait. Don’t think I will be a repeat customer like before.
This entire area is a challenge for vegans. I guess you have to settle for what you can find.
They at least have a few vegan options, although not labeled on the menu, so you have to inquire. The red curry, which we very much looked forward to, used to be available vegan but not anymore. Very disappointing! The other options are ok but not as tasty as our favorite curry! Since the sauces are pre-made making a dish vegan isn’t an option. For years we would come here every time we visit. Don’t think we’ll be back though.
Great food!!!
I have been coming to this establishment for a long time now and they have never once disappointed me or anyone I have brought with me. The staff is as nice and accommodating as can be and the food is some of the best around.
Indulging in the Chicken Pad Thai and Big John Sushi Roll was a delightful fusion experience. The Pad Thai boasted tender chicken and aromatic noodles, while the Big John Sushi Roll offered a tantalizing mix of flavors and textures. It's a must-try for those craving a unique blend of Thai and Japanese cuisine.
My first time dining there and I loved it. Food was delicious. The crab fried rice was delicious!
Amazing!
Wonderful place to dine with friends. Food was great, Service too, wonderful atmosphere and reasonable prices.
My brother's retirement dinner
Excellent food and service. I will definitely go back again.
The vegetables tempura and Pad Wee Mao was delicious.
Got food from GrubHub. The food was amazing and the restaurant accommodated my request via GrubHub for no egg/add carrots to the pad see ew. My boyfriend loooved the crab Rangoon, lots of filling. The house fried rice was delightful too. 5 stats all around!
I tried this place for the first time for my birthday dinner tonight and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was peaceful , the food was great, our server was nice and the staff was friendly. Our food did take almost an hour to come out but it was worth the wait. I will definitely come back again soon!
We always love going to Thaijindesu! Tonite was New Year's Eve & the service was fast, friendly, & helpful.
Great Thai experience. Beautiful atmosphere. Super fresh sushi! Feels like a local spot, a hidden gem in Port Warwick neighborhood of Newport News.
Definitely my favorite Thai in Hampton Roads!
A while ago, I worked delivering food through a third party company. And I had the opportunity of delivering from here (Thaijindesu). I do remember that the order took a while to come out and I had to wait. I wasn't upset with waiting, because there is a fishtank with critters inside, and I was content with watching them swim and move about. In another instance, I stopped in on a warm day, and wanted something refreshing. I decided on Thai tea and went in. It probably took me 5 minutes of sitting and a bit of an effort to hunt for an employee to get my order placed. I'm pretty sure the guy that helped me worked in the back of the restaurant, chef/cook maybe? But the first guy I ran into was not intent on helping me.
I did leave that time feeling a bit let down and feeling that service could be improved upon.
This time, I was thoroughly disappointed. Upon starting homework for one of my classes, I decided that I was hungry, didn't want anything I had on hand and opted for Thai food. I don't live far and decided to call in an order for shrimp pad Thai and Thai tea as soon as they opened at 5pm. So I call it in and they say it will be twenty minutes. I get up, put some clothes on, brush my teeth and head to thaijindesu. I walk through the doors and see an order bagged with a cup next to it and assume that's mine, sure enough it is. I walk up and greet the hostess and informed her I called in my order, and she tells me it's $27.18. So I dig in my purse and hand her a $50 dollar bill. My eyes take a cursory glance at the drawer and see her pull out a $10 and two $5s. Then I see her reach below the hostess station and she pulls out a twenty out of a personal LV wallet. She places the twenty and two ones in front of me on the stand. And continues whatever with the other bills. I'm waiting for what I (lazily) know to at least be $0.70, when I realized it's not coming. I then asked her about the rest of the change. She tells me, in fact, that is my change. And I ask is there not change change? (I couldn't get the words coin change out to save my life.... I think I was a bit shocked.) She proceeds to inform me that I handed her a fifty. And I guess again believes she gave me the correct change, before very reluctantly pulling out a third dollar bill. So I tell her that I can give her $0.18 to make it even.
(I want to state EXPLICITLY that I didn't care about the $0.82.)
I mention this all to question and highlight the fact that something about the service at this establishment is off.
Had she said something about the remainder of my change or being short some coins or something, I would have ABSOLUTELY told her that it wasn't a big deal. I didn't need the coin change. I had PLENTY of coins in my purse, no need for more. But she said NOTHING.
I am in no way any sort of human calculator. The other day I literally spent about 3 minutes, after a long day, trying to do a simple math problem (not money related) in my head. So I understand brain farts and stress/fatigue. What I do not understand is the hesitation that accompanied the transaction. I don't understand why she wasn't outright about the fact that she still had change to give me. I would have waited for her to grab a calculator. But there was a decently sized cash till/register right there.
That MAY have been a mistake/ mathematical error.
But I don't understand why it felt like she was waiting for me to take "my change" and walk out of the restaurant as if it were tendered ACCURATELY.
And I can't escape that feeling. And the more I think about it, the further my reasoning strays from error as an answer.
There's just something fundamentally wrong about interactions like that. It leaves the customer dubious or ambiguous about the person's intentions. Especially, in the absence of an apology or any further effort.
Someone else here made the recommendation to Tida Thai. I second that. Their service is inviting and attentive, and their food is consistently delicious and flavorful.
Great food. Terrible service. Plain and simple.
One of the best Thai and Sushi Bar restaurants in the area.
Could not love this restaurant or the owners and servers more. Amazing Thai and sushi. Best on the East Coast for sure!!! Chicken pad see ew noodles with the spice tray on the side is awe inspiring. Drunken noodles and crispy salmon rolls etc. shrimp bikini appetizers ❤️
I have been here a few times. The food is always fantastic! The service is efficient.
Accidentally showed up to this restaurant with my girlfriend at 9:30pm thinking they were still open until 1am. Staff was incredibly nice, serving us sushi as we were the only ones in the restaurant. Sushi chef even asked us if we wanted anything custom. Didn't find out that they had closed until we saw the actual hours on the menu and the hostess immediately told us not to feel bad and it's okay. Everyone had a good laugh at that and we left a good tip. 10/10 restaurant with some of the best sushi and service I've ever had.
Nice location. The food was not bad but not great. Service was a bit slow.
We were highly disappointed after our meal here recently especially after reading such raving reviews. It’s a nice looking restaurant at a nice location with a large menu. Definitely short staffed with a long wait. The food itself was mediocre and bland for all 4 of us. Drinks however were good.
What a great place. I'm not a huge lover of Asian cuisine and they had great sushi I liked and great service on a Saturday night. I'll definitely try more of their food.
Got my food very quickly and without issue, although it can be a bit pricy. Definitely still a great option for Thai food in the area.
If you've had real Thai Hot food and know the difference between 1, 2 or 3 peppers this is not the place for you. I know they needed help but they were very slow got the orders wrong. We waited 20 minutes just to get our drinks of water and 1 beer. The flavor wasn't to bad but I ordered medium hot and then had to have them bring me more peppers. The fried sushi tasted the best except the Wasabi was Not hot either? My brother in-law goes here but has only eaten the crab fried rice. I had the shrimp pad thai. I will not be going back.
Our favorite place for Thai. It's a Thai/Japanese fusion type resteraunt, but we tend to order the Thai meals. We have known Ken, the owner over 12 years, he treats everyone like family and takes pride in his cooking. You will love anything you get!
Best Asian food and service around
My pad thai was very bland. I was very disappointed
I really liked the food here. Food is really excellent! The only thing holding it back from getting five stars for me was that the service was a little slow. Other than that my experience here was excellent! I highly recommend it!
Food was good but pricey for what it was. They charged us the wrong table as well but did fix it when we brought it up. It also took a while to get food out.
The best sushi on the Peninsula, hands down! The owner, Ken, is also the head sushi chef, so there is pride in every slice! The fusion of Thai and sushi gives you great flexibility with larger groups or picky eaters. High recommend!
The food was excellent! The drinks were good. The appetizeres we're great. The service was excellent! We will be going back! This is now our top for Thai food. They have a very good choice of Thai food on there menu. They also have a real vegan place in there menu and they know and helpful with choice's for vegan.
Everything on the menu is delicious. I go here all the time and have not been dissatisfied with any dish. It's addictive!
I've visited here many times and am always extremely satisfied with everything about this place! Great food and service. Thai and Japanese food available with fresh sushi.
Be prepared to waita for your food. It took almost 45 minutes yo be served. Other than that, the food is delicious!
First Thai experience ever. Everything was absolutely delicious. Not exactly sure what the appetizer was called. It was full of vegetables and a peanut sauce on the side. Then I had the sweet and sour chicken. And he had the holy basil chicken. I tried that. Both were fantastic. Then we split the mango sticky rice. I was honestly a little skeptical about the entire thing. I can not say enough about how fantastic everything was. It was a busy Saturday night but the staff was very friendly and efficient. I would recommend this place to everyone. You will not be disappointed... the portions were huge so I have extra. Thank you to the wonderful staff for the entire time. I guarantee that I will be back.. I excited to open my horizon and try more of your awesome dishes.
Service on a party of 11 was great!
My husband and I decided to try this cozy little spot, and we are so glad we did. The food was phenomenal. The atmosphere was inviting, and the staff amazing. The owner/chef went above and beyond. He was very kind and greeted us at the door and seated us.
He engaged with the customers at their tables to make sure everything was to their expectations. Because of a health condition and special diet I am on, the chef surprised me with a delicious and satisfying meal. You can tell the owner/chef takes great pride in his restaurant, and it shows with his actions. Other business owners could definitely learn from him.
Highly recommend going here. You will not be disappointed.
This restaurant was a very enjoyable experience! The food was delicious, the decor is elegant and beautiful! The service was amazing! They are very prompt with bringing your food and drink to you in a timely fashion. Food was delicious and fresh, especially the sushi! Highly recommend ThaiJindesu if you are looking for Thai food and sushi!
Very nice place and atmosphere, fresh sushi and the green curry was on point.
Amazing! That's the best word to describe the food, atmosphere, and overall experience. The drunken noodles with pork did not disappoint. My husband had the nue siam with shrimp and loved it. We ordered various sushi to take home to our kids. I'm sure they will love it too.
Pineapple rice & spring rolls are TEWWWW GOOODDDD
The shrimp fried rice is excellent!
Food was delicious but service was slow. Took us almost 3 hours to complete a meal, most of the time waiting on the food. Pricing was fair though.
Called in an order for Pad Thai. I was told to pick up in 30 minutes. It’s been an hour !!!!!! Food is good but really ? An hour?
Yummy yummy yummy food!!!
Absolutely phenomenal!!!! ❤️
Great food and service! This popular Thai restaurant did not disappoint!
Been here twice now and both times it was excellent. Service is outstanding and the food is very good. Cocktails are a little weak but they do have a nice selection of them. Parking can be a little scarce at peak season. Great place for date night or girls' night out.
Very happy to have found Thaijindesu! It was a busy evening. We always make reservations, but its a good sign when you see a full restaurant. Our food was fresh, hot, and tasty and came out in good time, but not rushed. The staff worked well together and the service was great. The decor was good, carpet and comfy chairs meant the noise level was good.
We will go again!
Great food. The mixture of Thai cuisine and Japanese cuisine under one roof is all I could ask for. People are always nice. It's walking distance from my work and always looking forward to some Pad Thai or sushi after work. Now go and check it out.
Great food and authentic Thai experience.
10/10 customer service and the food is amazing. An amazing place with great staff! Kid friendly as well.
Perfect as usual
Great and wonderful place for Authentic Thai food. Good customer service. Only thing I see they’re was a little slow with bringing our food out to us. We came on a Thursday January 26th when they first open and was the first people to sit. My wife, daughter and I place an order. Then two other groups set down and got there food before us. Which was very disappointing as an customers.
This is my first time trying this restaurant. Coming into this restaurant is quite beautiful. The dining tables are neat and very beautiful. As soon as you sit down, water is served to you in well polished glasses. The seating in this red is also very nice for the small area. The decorations suit this restaurant really well without it being too distracting. I admire whoever decorated this restaurant. The two meals that I got was the soft shell appetizer and the drunken noodles, but the soup version! The soft shell was perfectly fried, light batter and the crab was delicious. The soup was not too heavy, but very savory which I loved. This experience was amazing.. and very delicious and Im excited to come back to this restaurant!
Always good service and delicious food. A little more pricey than most places but there is an elevated atmosphere and higher quality food than most Thai takeout.
This place is AMAZING. I had 2 chef special rolls, and I mean it when I say that it was the best sushi I have ever had. We also had their Thai dumplings, which were also very good, and we also had an appetizer that was beef wrapped around green onions, which was also delicious. PLEASE give this place more business.
Edit: I've come again a couple times over the past few months, and it's just my go-to place every time I'm in Newport news. The only thing I wish they'd change is their hours on google! I had the Supreme Volcano roll and it was DELICIOUS (left side in the picture). Their hours are not correct on here, I've attached a picture of the hours on their door, which are correct as far as I know.
The food is absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered from appetizer and soup and salad to our sushi! Excellent
Great lunch spot for business meetings. Good food and good service. Didn't feel rushed.
The dragon roll is a must try.
Best Thai food in town. My favorite appetizer is the fresh rolls - they're super crisp and the dipping sauce pairs perfectly. For dinner, the basil duck and is above and beyond. Ambiance is beautiful, perfect for a dinner date.
Our favorite.
Really good quality
Food AMAZING!! Great service!
The old Wechures, who wears glasses every time we go, are unfriendly. Pieces of wash cloth came out of the food, but instead of saying sorry, she annoyed us.
Everything was so amazing. The service was pleasant. Me and the waitress who was filling my glass with water had a nice bond lol 🤣
Best Thai food in the area!
Wonderful place. Excellent food a nn d service
Always love it here. Thai Basil, Drunken Noodle, and Papaya Salad are phenomenal!
The Supreme Volcano Roll is a must! The quality and QUANTITY is flabbergasting! The staff is a bit short so the yime in between visits was a bit long however, any member of the staff is more than willing to help you. I love this establishment.
Best Thai restaurant in the area. Never disappointed!
I've been dining here since they've opened and I have been extremely satisfied with their food and service. I've basically tried everything on their menu and have not been disappointed. Some of my favorites are the soft shell crab, the spicy crab salad, Siam Duck, Whole Snapper, and Lobster Fried Rice. it's truly an outstanding restaurant.
O-My what a lovely and delicious place to get a great meal with friends,08-18-22 what a great night to have dinner on the patio yes more please!
Awesome food
Very good food, very nice place, in a beautiful location. Very good tea!! I suggest the sweet tea to anyone who is a tea drinker, also I had the house fried rice, and I was satisfied. They have very pleasant service, I just think maybe they should a few more people, so that the waitress or waiters don't SEEM to be so rushy. They didn't rush me at all, but it wasn't the usual sit down service where they literally stand around and WAITE ...they did great but we're just kind in and out. But I recommend it to anyone.
I've gone here a few times for take-out. The sushi is the highlight for me, but for Thai food I go somewhere else. The Thai food isn't bad, I just prefer the way another restaurant makes their Thai food.
No complaints.
