This is one of the best Thai restaurants in Richmond. The food is consistently good since the day they opened. The portions are good and the prices are reasonable. It is a family owned restaurant, you often find the husband or their son at the front. All the delicious dishes are cooked by the wife, once she told me that she learned how to cook from her mom. We have been coming here for sixteen years. Pad Thai is truly a hole in the wall. A small dining room right off Meadowbridge road and right next to the railroad. If you are lucky, you get to experience the sound and vibration when a train goes by. The owners have built planters around the front entrance and filled with spicy Thai pepper plants. This is also where you can get real spicy food; the heat level ranges from Mild, Medium, Hot, Extra Hot, to Thai Hot. My favorite dishes are Crispy Duck, Chicken Red Curry, and Drunken Noodles. It might be out of your way, but you really should give it a try.
Right now, they are doing take-outs only. Inside the restaurant foot traffic marked clearly with silver arrows on the floor to minimize physical contacts. Be aware that they are closed from 2 PM to 4 PM.

I gave the atmosphere 5 stars because anyone who likes food knows the best food is at places that look like this on the outside.

Apparently they are only offering takeout. The first time I ate here I stumbled upon it. That was over 10 years ago...I couldn't find it again until this year and it is as good as ever.

Great place to get authentic thai. Don't judge this place from the outside. This place starts to get pretty busy after 6pm, they have a huge take out business as well with a steady stream of people in and out. Staff were very nice and helpful and service was on point. Would definitely go back. We were looking forward to trying the sticky rice and mango but they were sold out by 5:30pm. Will definitely be back.

Oh my gahd, what? We arrived half an hour before close and they are pick up only and closed already half an hour before « close ». It was filthy inside so maybe we dodged a bullet (a stomach ache). She asked if we were pick up and we said we want to order for pick up and she said hesitantly she will ask the kitchen and my husband said no problem and she admitted that they are « closing already ».

The absolute best Thai food in RVA. Whenever we are in RVA, we make it a point to order dinner from here. It NEVER disappoints!

Update: the food overall here is still good, but the fried squid appetizer is no longer good. It used to be decent sized pieces of squid with a light crispy coating, but now it's tiny pieces of squid surrounded by a huge, thick, doughy breading 5x the size of the squid. The breading is so thick and doughy that it isn't even cooked all the way through and is mushy inside. The pieces of squid are tiny (like a half inch square if you're lucky) and then overwhelmed by an absurd amount of doughy breading. Please go back to the way you used to make it 🙏

So delicious! We've tried several dishes already and have loved them all. Panang curry, red curry, massaman curry, duck curry, crispy duck, pad Thai, spicy seafood, fish cake, and #18 seafood appetizer are all very good and flavorful. Prices are reasonable for the quality and great taste. This is our go-to spot for Thai food now!

I have eaten here ever since I was a little girl and I have always considered their food a comfort food of mine!! Not only is the food delicious but it’s perfectly priced, you get a great portion size, and the employees are always so friendly!! We didn't even go inside because it looked scary from the outside and dirty. It was also carryout only, which was not listed on google Maps. Do not recommend it.

Such great Thai food. I got the drunken noodles with chicken and they had a good level of spice and big portion for the money. You can’t eat in the restaurant so great for quick takeout. I spent about $13 for a dinner portion with chicken.

Why do you chop the lemongrass in the soup?! $145 worth of food had nice flavor but it sucked having to spit out lemongrass with every spoonful of soup. Really ruined it for me.

Seems like the food quality as gone down over the years. Portion size are also small. You should go somewhere else if you have options.

My only note is the levels of spiciness have varied, erring on the side of being not quite as spicy as we'd like, but this is understandable as it's pretty subjective and many might find it too spicy. This is specifically for hot/very hot spice level, so stick to your guns and ask for Thai spicy if you're looking for real spice!

Got chicken Pad See Ew for lunch with a couple spring rolls as a side. The value for lunch is excellent, but I had a couple problems with the dish: it tasted quite salty and near the end of eating it, I noticed two plastic-like pieces which were clear and kind of hard. Kind of difficult to verify the latter, but it's definitely not something you want in your dish.

The food here is absolutely amazing and one of my favorite Asian places in the area. I really hope they open the dining area again.

I had wanted to try this restaurant as it got rave reviews for its Crispy Duck. I drove all the way from VA Beach, made sure I checked Yelp for hours. On Saturdays, they are open until 2pm then re-opens at 4pm. I was there at 1:38pm to order take out, more than 20 minutes before their advertised time to close. No one was there! Open sign was not on, lights were off like they weren’t just getting ready for dinner service.
Very disappointed… businesses shouldn’t wonder why they lose potential customers!

Very good Thai food, on par with the best Thai restaurants I've visited. Despite being in the building it's in, the out of the way location is a very nice detail to me. I don't like eating at really busy places or during peak hours.

I imagine that the cheaper space and the money saved therein, plus not having to pay wait staff is why the prices are today much lower than other Thai restaurants.

I paid only $18 for two dinner portions of Pad Thai with chicken. What they should cost. At a place in another city, those two orders would cost almost $40!

Definitely one of my new favorites and I will be back at least once a month!

This is the most authentic Thai food you are going to find in the greater RIC area. They grow their own herbs, peppers and spices in their garden next to the restaurant and the freshness you can taste. Owners are Super friendly.

I purchase twice from their location. Both time Pan Thai first order was hot. The second was a medium heatI. I’m used to hot foods, but the oils did not agree with my system. The second time it was tasteless. I will never go back. In my opinion I don’t think they care for brown and Black people. That was the vibe I got the last time I was there.

One of my favorite Thai restaurants. The prices are great. Got Drunken noodles for lunch and brought home Red Curry for me and the wife for dinner.

Stopped by to pick up lunch. This restaurant is only open for takeout. When I stepped inside and it smelled musky and old. The food was not good. I eat Thai food any time I’m in Richmond and this restaurant does not live up to expectations. I will not return.

I've been coming to this place since I was 13. I would drive 2 hours from the beach, just for this food.

The only bad thing is, this is the only Thai food you’ll want from now on. I’ve had plenty of Thai food at other places and it just disappoint. The best dish I’ve had is there crispy spicey duck. Also a big fan of there drunken noodles. They grow there own hot peppers right out side. When you ask for spicy the actually deliver. It doesn’t look like much from out side but who cares, it’s the best Thai food money can buy at a very good price.

When it opens the phone rings immediately. The food is made well and priced reasonably.

Can't name a restaurant I've been so immediately and consistently impressed by. A gem.

My family and I have been customers for years and eat here or carry out regularly. I hope the owners have saved all of the money that we have spent there over the years because as of tonight we will never darken their door again. We called in to place an order and the manager argued with us for reasons that we do not understand. The food is good, but service is high on my list and should be on everyone’s. There is another Thai restaurant in Mechanicsville near the air park that we also frequent and they have great food with courteous and respectful service. Sorry Pad Thai restaurant, without customers, you will have no job.

This place really good!

Usually I love Thai, this one made me depressed after eating it. Everything in the process of getting the food was below average too, from the parking to the exterior to interior and only having diet pepsi as the only drink available. The Chef's Special Duck Curry was hard to swallow, at least the broth was consistant with your average red curry base.

This place came highly recommended by my friends. It doesn't look like much from outside, but it is the best Thai food in the area. The value for you're dollar is great. It is family owned/operated and it shows in the service and atmosphere.

Chicken pad thai is my go to. I've had it at lunch time and at dinner time for both takeout and eating in. Lunchtime is always better, I've been told by my work colleagues it is because the owner makes it during that time.

This restaurant has the best Thai food I've had in the area, hands-down! The prices are very reasonable, too. The staff is friendly and there are several gluten free options (last I checked, they're not labeled on the menu, but the staff generally knows what is gluten free and I've never gotten sick from any of their recommendations). If you're in the mood for dessert, the sweet sticky rice is absolutely delicious.
