I had been here months ago, how could I have forgotten to leave a review? The restaurant was packed at lunch time. We were seated right away, quite a cozy place bigger than what it seemed from the outside. Food was good, not too spicy (catering more to the general palates, I could have asked for amped up spice level). I ordered curry. Service was good, I don't recall to have to wait long nor having to complain about needing the glass of water refilled. Peaked my interest, will definitely go back to try other menu selections.

I have to give extra kudos to the owner there, he came out at some point to greet almost everyone, not us but that's okay, I think everyone there are regulars and he has a good relationship with them all.

Today wasn't the best, as my wife's ground chicken and basil leaves with string beans was too salty. Fortunately we share well, so we split my wide noodles with crispy duck. Her vegetable tom yum soup and my vegetable spring roll were good.

Great food! Got the Crispy Basil Duck and it was so good. The flavor got better and better as the meal went on. I have tried crispy duck at other places and they're ok but this is why crispy duck is a thing. Great staff and owner gave great suggestions. I hear the Panang curry is awesome also so I will have to try that next time.

The green thai curry and tom yum soup is good like most Thai restaurants. Some of the higher priced dishes in the $25 to $30 are not very good. Too salty and not great flavor. The crispy basil chicken was not good. I was about to return it but my wife talked me out of it. Plus it's deep fried so it's not something I would order for health reasons. But often fried foods taste good. This did not taste good and is overpriced. Waitress asked me how the food is. I told her my wife didn't like it, but she wasn't really listening to my response. She said "enjoy." Sorry but the dish is not tasty.

I had a disappointing Christmas Eve visit due to poor service. Unfortunately, I felt ignored by our server, which I believe was motivated by my ethnicity. Despite looking forward to a enjoyable meal, the lack of attention ruined the experience. Notably, other tables around us received attentive service. Due to our treatment, we declined to leave a tip, which prompted our server to confront us. I was dismayed by the server's reaction and will not return. I advise others from my ethnic background to avoid this establishment, hoping management will take steps to ensure equal and welcoming service to all patrons."

They will prepare your food without MSG when requested! I did not get a headache from the food, though the smell of MSG did hit me a few times. We went with a large group and they were able to accommodate us.

I enjoyed a wonderful lunch here with a friend last week, after only getting carryout for years. The service is so friendly, so welcoming, the food was perfect and the atmosphere is so cute! The lunch special portions were very generous, and so flavorful! Several dishes can be made vegan, and they are always happy to accommodate!! 10/10 recommend!

Was there this week for lunch. We had the green curry (vegetarian style ), and I had the basil seafood stir-fry. The food was good However, the seafood mix had imitation crab. This was not indicated in the menu and the price did not match a dish offering imitation seafood. Thus, I did not eat it.

I have dined at NuNu's twice in the last month with my friend Larry and his entourage and have finally found a Thai place I can rave about! Most Thai restaurants in the DMV area are decent but the food here is exceptional since the owner NuNu personally oversees the kitchen and dining room operations and personally greets all diners with a friendly "wai" Thai welcome which sets a great introductory tone for your dining experience. NuNu's has many interesting menu selections and my favorite is the Chicken Basil entree (with medium spices) as well as the Green or Panang Curry. The chicken satay and steamed (not fried) dumplings are also excellent two of my favorite appetizes but you cannot really go wrong sampling any of the appetizers and main dishes. All entrees are served with delicious white rice.
Nice variety of entrees to choose from and don't forget to order a Singha Thai beer (or two) to wash it all down while chatting with the owner NuNu!

First order from Nunu's Thai tonight. Our curry dishes were bland, tasteless, as if the chef deliberately made them without flavor. Pad See Ew was overcooked, mushy, and also bland. Tasted as if it were taken out of a can. Cannot recommend any of the dishes we ordered. Disappointing for sure because we had read good reviews and recommendations. First visit will be our last to Nunu's.

The food is delicious and the service is speedy and friendly. I've been here a number of times and always order more to take home with me for leftovers - I tend to get the drunken noodles or pad thai, but everything I have tried is delicious.

I’ve only ever gotten take out or sat outside, but I’ve never had a bad experience. They do awesome with takeout/to-go food. We often order for pickup when guests are in town. The food is always awesome and people always comment on how good it is! Love Nunu’s!

Ordered through Uber Eats. The bill was $60 with tip but after I received the food the receipt showed a service fee charge of $7.50. No where on Uber Eats did this charge show, only their delivery fee of .49 cents, taxes and tip. I pay a yearly subscription for Uber Eats that will now be canceled. After all was said and done the bill came out to $75. The food here was good, portions small and not worth $75.

If I could give more than 5 stars for service I would. I did not read the other reviews but if don't know "I gotcha man" you soon will.

NuNu is the absolute best! This is hands down the best Thai restaurant I've Ever Been too. Well, let's say all the best I've been too, NuNu has owned. The Crispy Chicken and Beef are to die for, literally! I also love the ground chicken dish with the Green beans, it's incredible. I live in RVA and everytyme I'm in NOVA I take food back to RVA! No matter where I lived, I would take long layovers in Dulles just to come here, dead serious! The Best, with the best service! Thanks as always NuNu, you're the best always! Nunu was a real sport, the atmosphere of he's restaurant was genuine delight. 100% im coming back here again. In fact I can't wait to get hungry again!

We ate at Nunu's Thai Dishes in Herndon for dinner and that place was hoppin'! Even the bar with Nunu himself. I see they have a HH on their website. Worth checking out. We ate calamari, pineapple fried rice, pad see ewe, and drunken chicken. We took the server's recommendations for non spicy things for the kids. Everything was excellent and will go back! I believe they were quite busy for a Thursday and were short staffed so server was lacking.

My husband and I are vegan and they had great options. The tofu panang curry fried rice and tofu spicy basil fried rice were both delicious!

My favorite restaurant in NoVa--incredible food, service, and atmosphere. (But if you require a very quiet atmosphere it might be a little loud--but it's loud because a lot of people are there, because the food is incredible...)

I'm not speaking lightly when I say this might be the best Thai place I've ever went to. The food was immaculate, they even got my order wrong but it was still amazing.

The owner is a very nice man too. Will definitely be coming back when I'm in the area again.

Nunu's Thai Dishes is a shimmering oasis in what is otherwise (saving very few exceptions) a foodie desert landscape here in Herndon. Just approaching the doors of Nunu´s, we are gently bathed with the captivating aromas of authentic Thai flavors. We are transported to the fragrant Bangkok alleyways that whisper of that symphony of spice and cream that defines Thai cuisine.

I have been to Nunu´s Thai Dishes ́ more than 3 times. Every time, it has been a superb testament to their commitment to good food, to their commitment to quality standards, and to their passion for Thai cuisine. My taste buds were captivated from the first bite, particularly by the curries.

I fell in love with Thai cuisine traveling through Thailand (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Ko Tao, Ko Samui, etc). Since then, I learned how to cook some Thai dishes, and I have been to many Thai restaurants in the US and in Europe. Surely, Nunu´s is very high on my list for great Thai food. And it just happens to be located in Herndon, which I consider a real cosmic gift for all us Herndon foodies.

Nunu´s Red Curry is a revelation. It wasn't the one-dimensional firebomb you sometimes encounter. Instead, it was a layered dance of chilies, lemongrass, and galangal, building from a gentle warmth to a satisfying tingle, a rich and velvety coconut milk lullaby (as I like it most of the time, instead of watery).
The Green Curry, as usual, offered me a different kind of magic. Here, the herbaceousness of Thai basil and kaffir lime leaves dominated the song, but they left enough headroom for the shy breeze of green curry to take the spotlight. Tender slices of chicken soaked up the fragrant broth, while the generous eggplant added a delightful textural contrast.

But let's not forget one of my favorite supporting acts: the Eggplant Basil. This dish was a refreshing counterpoint to the curries' fire. Silky strands of eggplant, cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection, were stir-fried with fragrant basil leaves and chilies. Each bite was a refreshing change to the creaminess of the curries. A gentle hint of fish sauce in the background gave it depth and umami, making it a dish I have not found yet a way to stop ordering again, and again, and again.

Went back and had an even better experience than the first time. The food was amazing (we had the crispy duck, beef salad, lemon grass soup, steamed dumplings, and mango with sticky rice) Small intimate atmosphere with many regular guests. Nunus Puts everyone at ease, despite being extremely busy our food arrived quickly and was perfectly cooked.

Wow! This place gets packed and the staff is on top of everything. I couldn't believe that a restaurant in this shopping center would be so popular and happening. The owner (I assume) welcomed everyone at the door, kept count of the parties and ensured that everyone would have a table. The wait wasn't bad, the food was great, and the owner even gave me a discount for joking that I didn't mind waiting as long as there was a discount. He followed through with his promise! Thank you!

The sundries beef appetizer was great, reasonably priced Asian beers. My entree (basil stir fry) was fairly bland. Seemed like both of our entrees were basically bases with all the seasoning and vegetables and then whatever protein you order is just thrown on top without being cooked with the dish. My pork was fairly plain and flavorless while the dish itself had more flavor but not very strong.

Filling, nonetheless. Our table was also a bit wobbly which made a beer spill a bit.

Most items on Thai menus have ingredients that do not agree with me (bell peppers, eggplant, etc.), so I usually stick to yellow curry or mussaman curry. Neither is on the menu here. Nor is nam tok, another standby for me; the beef salad is not the same. After dithering over just getting the "stay" (satay) appetizer and some wonton soup, I noticed at the very bottom of the page the peanut sauce entree, with a choice of vegetables, chicken, pork, beef, or shrimp. (All the entrees offer those options, at different prices. The peanut sauce entree is $1 more than most of the other entrees.). I got the chicken. IT WAS DELICIOUS. Huge portion, too. Comes with jasmine rice and some broccoli. I also ordered some Thai iced coffee, which was also very good. Check was around $25, including 18% added gratuity because I was with a group of 10.

By the way, if you want nam tok instead of the on-menu beef salad, they'll be happy to prepare it for you. Maybe they'll add the other two curry flavors one day...

I just came here for the first time while visiting from Ohio. The service was excellent and this is the most authentic Thai food I have gotten in ages. Soooo good! If you like Thai food, look no further. Great service, great food. I had the spring rolls, tofu pad Thai, and papaya salad, all excellent.

Their spicy scale is 1-4 and it isn't insanely hot if you opt higher. My coworkers got a 3 on the papaya salad and it was warm but not uncomfortable.

So the owner is a force to reckon with but so is the entire team. Ask them what goes well together and how to add Thai spices . They are happy to do so. The signature dishes for me are the Crispy Duck Soup and Beef appetizer. Many rave about the chicken appetizer and it is great as well. Walk in with a smile and you'll leave with a bigger one. Enjoy!

Normally I enjoy Nunu’s. I’ve been away for a few years. Most of our meal was good. I ordered the crispy duck. Major YUCK 🤮!!! It was so nasty. I asked for it to be removed from my bill or bring me something else as a replacement. Their waitress refused and then came back with two bills—one for the other food and a separate one for the duck with 20% off. Sorry but normally a decent restaurant just removes it from the bill and offers something else.

I will not eat here again. If you do—for the love of god don’t get the crispy duck!!! It’s $29.95 worth of nastiness.

Nunus is our go to for Thai food since the food is good but today the service was horrible. Our drinks didn't come till we were almost finished with dinner. I have to asked our server 3X and she was so rude like we are inconvenience to her. When my cocktail finally came, i still have to ask for my husbands soda. Our server was the younger lady who needs an attitude adjustment.

We were excited about how polite the staff was and thoroughly enjoyed the friendly service. Our food was excellent and we’ll definitely be back! Portions were just the right size so we found Nunu’s an excellent value. The spice level was perfect- great flavor without being overwhelming.

Absolutely the best Thai food I have had in many years. Nunu and his wonderful staff were so kind and friendly. They went out of their way to make us feel at home while we were there for my friend's birthday. We will certainly be back and really appreciate this awesome Friday night!

We experienced great authentic food and a very welcoming service. The duck was sensational!!!! Also they offer refreshing and very well prepared cocktails. Very recommended!

I’ve been eating at Nunu’s for about a year and constantly crave the crispy duck soup and mango sticky rice. Nunu himself is a really great character and really fun to be around, and the wait staff are efficient and friendly. The restaurant is fairly small and doesn’t seat many but it has a cozy atmosphere.

I really recommend Nunu’s Thai dishes to anyone that likes (or doesn’t like) Thai food. The menu is pretty extensive without being overwhelming, the food itself is amazing, especially the crispy basil dishes.

I hope others can discover this little nook of joy and enjoy it as much as me and my family do.

Went there for dinner earlier today. Service was good but food didn’t have any tests test at all. Ordered Penang curry and lava chicken. Curry tested like coconut milk.

One of the best chicken pad see ew and crispy basil duck we have ever had. The food was absolutely amazing. Our server was very attentive and friendly.

Crispy duck any day

I visited this place yesterday with a colleague and at first service was alright. Food was average which is fine. However, toward the end of our meal, one of the staff tried to kick us out by putting away the dishes and handed us the check right away. But took forever to process the credit card charge. Kind of felt offended and didn't really appreciate our business.

Also there is a additional charge if you want to add chicken, beef, or shrimp onto the lunch special meals. I asked the question to the waitress to make sure what I read is correct and the staff rudely answered my question. So at the end, diners are actually paying the same price for regular meals.

Not sure if I want to visit this restaurant again.

A friend turned me on to this restaurant on Monday and I went back on Tuesday for more! The crispy duck basil, chicken coconut curry, and chicken panang were all fantastic! And the owner, Nu Nu himself, was a great host! All the other staff were great as well.

Crispy duck was crispy and delicious. Also the taro custard and sticky rice dessert was very well received by our table

The food is disgusting. I had the coconut curry and it is like they threw a pound of sugar in it. The spicy rice was bland and just heat. I wish I could give them a zero. I paid over 35 dollars for garbage. I call the manger for a week and got the run around. That is okay because I never coming back. I don't know why they have 4.5; it not true save yourself some time and money and go somewhere else.

I dream about this food! If you come here and don't get something with crispy duck then you are missing out on life. The beef jerky is also extremely good. Staff is always nice and quick to assist with any questions or orders. This is a must have for anyone with an hour drive.

Yesterday I stopped by to get some food while I was in the area just for the day. I'm so glad we did. It was absolutely delicious. Asian food is just better in NOVA and Nunu's gets 5 stars. Even though we were getting take out to go, Nunu himself was so nice, and funny. What a great host and owner. All the staff I met were really pleasant. We ordered several dishes to try and they were all yummy. Those who like spice the spicy basil fried rice was just right. Only thing was they charge $3 for shrimp added and they only had like 3 in the rice. My sister didn't like that. But the food itself she couldn't stop eating. Mango sticky rice was the best I have ever had. I recommend the Pineapple fried rice, crunchy spring rolls, and the pad see ew with beef. Please stop by and eat here if you are in the area.

I have heard of this spot from many of my coworkers, and finally had a chance to stop by on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was busy and lively when I entered. The staff was very friendly with everyone, i could tell that they treated their customers like family. The food was very delicious, i ordered the Drunken Noodles and they arrived spicy and saucy.

So delicious! Can't wait to go back!

Ordered food even came in 30 minutes afterwards and they had not even started it made me wait 15 minutes and did not even say apologize, after speaking up they said they gave me extra food but it’s the same amount they always do. Disappointed in Nunu’s won’t order again

My family has been coming to Nunu's restaurants for years-- he's truly not only a dear friend, but is like a family member. My brother had his rehearsal dinner at Nunu's, and we've had him over for Thanksgiving. Nunu and the rest of the staff are SO attentive and are part of this place's charm. To top it off, the food is incredible and I always try something new. I've even told Nunu before, "Just surprise me". When I've done that before, there are no other directions and I've had various beef, pork, fish, etc dishes... and I'm always left with an empty plate and a full stomach. Do yourself a favor and stop on by- it's delicious.

Great place! Pleasantly loud with customer conversation and laughter! The food was full of Thai flavors and heat! The wings was lack luster, but we loved the Thai style rice, ginger chicken W/ onions, spicy red beef curry, mango and coconut cream. The servers were attentive to our needs, but not too pushy. We enjoyed our evening and I believe you will too.

This is one of my favorite places in the area. The staff is friendly, and Nunu himself makes a lot of effort to keep this business running. During COVID I saw them work really really hard to keep afloat. They served with grace, and made an effort to make it easy to pickup food. There's something about this location and staff that is wonderful and keeps us coming back. On a Friday night, expect 45+ minutes for your order because they are a favorite among locals. I have been having dine in for date nights, casual get togethers, with kids, and delivery home for 4 years running

The service was quite fast despite a large crowd while we were there. Everything was delicious - we ordered fish cakes and Tom yum soup, then drunken noodles and eggplant basil. All equally good. Would love to come back.

Really delicious food and owner cares deeply about his customers. This restaurant can get busy, and their dining room isn't large--naturally, wait times can increase and service can slow down when busy. They will do their best to accommodate reservations. Atmosphere is casual and family friendly. There is a full bar inside.

Can't taste or get in. They may be good but they can't get orders out the door. Time to get more/better staff

I’ve been to my share of Thai restaurants around the world. Nunu is simply amazing. Everything is fresh, they’ve taken care to present the food well on your plate and ample food so you’re not leaving hungry. I tried the wonton soup and shrimp basil and was absolutely amazed. Can’t wait to make my next visit.

This is our go-to Thai place in the area because the food is delicious. I usually get pad see ew with tofu but tried the green curry the other night and it was magical!! We get takeout from here every week. The restaurant has a lovely and inviting interior. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great local Thai place.

Visited based on reading the reviews. Staff service is good. Drunken noodles are soggy, do not have the char from the high heat wok. Was disappointed. Thought the soup came with the lunch special but they charged a $1 for it. We might misread the menu. Overall, it is ok, nothing to brag about. Might come back to try other dishes, will see how they taste.

Nunu’s is the place to get Thai in the Herndon area. Wow. The druknen noodles were excellent. Bursting with flavor and they are better than any drunken noodles I’ve ever had before! The service was really good, I was told please come back soon and told it was a pleasure to meet me. They also complimented my tie. Very nice! Lovely spot!
