Longtime local classic offers a menu of made-to-order Thai home cooking & includes lunch specials.
A lovely time here as always, it has become a recent go-to. The place is decorated very cutely with a bunch of plushies around but balanced with a modern touch. The food is delicious and the drinks are too, and pretty as well! I would highly recommend the place. The service is really good as long as it's not very busy, but that's every place so 👍 Would highly recommend!
Edit: I just had the thai custard sticky rice. That was the stuff of dreams. The presentation was so beautiful. The taste of the custard with the rice and the fruit had me flabbergasted. I could not recommend more!!!
My husband and I embarked on a thrilling culinary adventure, discovering the hidden gem of Chao Phra Ya in Herndon. The exceptional service and uniquely captivating ambiance, complete with enchanting stuffed animals, set the tone for a truly unforgettable lunch. I savored the delectable duck roll while my husband indulged in the fragrant lemongrass soup, both exceeding our expectations. Our entrees, chicken pad thai with spring roll and chicken red curry with spring roll, were equally impressive, with the pad thai stealing the show. We left inspired, eagerly anticipating our return to explore more of their exquisite offerings. (I tried “write with AI- 😆 but yes it was pretty good.. you should give it a try😀).
I recently visited Chao Phra Ya Thai and had a mixed experience. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was both nice and unique, adding to the overall charm of the place. However, the service left much to be desired.
One major issue was that the tip was already included in the check, but when our credit card was processed on the pin pad, there was an additional option to leave more tip without informing us beforehand. This almost caused us to double-tip unknowingly. When we asked the waitress to confirm if the tip was already included, she responded with a strange look and didn't apologize for the confusion.
Additionally, we had to ask multiple times for the check, and when we requested a to-go container, it took so long that I had to stand up and get it myself. Despite the good food and pleasant atmosphere, the poor service significantly impacted our experience.
A while back, we were searching for a place to have lunch at Village Center at Dulles, where there is a European-looking building. We ended up dining at this Thai restaurant, which we really enjoyed. Their whole grilled squid was delicious; it was slightly seasoned and had a perfect texture. I ordered the Raad Na Noodle and fell in love with it instantly. The gravy was perfectly balanced with the noodles and seafood, making it a great dish.
This restaurant is distinguished from others not only by its delicious entrees but also by its numerous unique Thai desserts. I ordered Sweet Rice with Thai Custard, which melted in my mouth. Our dining experience at this place was thoroughly enjoyable, and I highly recommend it.
We have been coming here for years and love all of their food options.
Food flavor is consistent no matter what day we come.
Pad See Ew - the best in town! You can taste and even see the char in the noodle. Get it with beef, it goes perfect together.
Drunken Noodle with Crispy Duck - the crispy duck is to die for! The drunken noodle is best in medium to spicy. It really brings out the flavor of the dish.
We recently tried their soft shell crab, and oh my goodness! Don't let that "Market Place" price fools you. It's very affordable and worth it when you get the dish. It feeds about 4 people with some leftovers. Get it with the special garlic sauce. You will love it! It's deep fried, perfect saltiness. A little spicy because it has friend chopped chili. Not a lot, just a perfect amount with fried garlic, scallion, and have it with white rice.
Other dish that we tried but never took a picture of are the garlic fried rice.
Seafood salad, it's an appetizer but a good size for a main dish when you don't feel like eating a lot. You can taste the fish sauce just right.
Their thai ice tea is also just perfect. Maybe a tad sweeter than my liking but it's not too cringy sweet.
Chao Phra YA Thai: A Hidden Thai Gem Near Dulles Airport.
Chao Phra YA Thai, conveniently located near Dulles Airport, offers a delightful Thai culinary experience in a whimsical setting. The restaurant's interior, adorned with an array of stuffed animals, creates a playful atmosphere that complements the flavorful dishes.
While the Thai Chive Dumplings might not be for everyone, the Crab Fried Rice is an undeniable standout. The dish features generous portions of succulent crab meat, perfectly seasoned and stir-fried with fluffy rice, resulting in a symphony of flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. The Red Curry is another highlight, boasting a rich, aromatic broth that strikes a harmonious balance between heat and tang. Although the Ka Prow Fried Rice is a bit on the saucy side, it still delivers a satisfying taste of Thai cuisine.
For those seeking authentic Thai flavors near Dulles Airport, Chao Phra YA Thai is a hidden gem worth discovering.
Had been to one of our friends birthday . Was travelling to Leesburg and found this restaurant from Google reviews . 4.5 stars on Google and we thought of going there . Nice interiors and parking facilities . Atmosphere was cozy and we liked it from inside.. price was ok, especially for noodles and pad Thais .
Service could be much much better . Everyone who was working there , always go back in the area behind the bar, and chit chat there . You have to get up from table , and keep calling them to get to ur table . The guy was a little bit annoyed and when we told that one of the dishes is a bit raw , he kept denying and never spoke in a toned-down voice . And then it was my friends birthday and I asked him if he can get a small cake with a candle and he said he will check . He never came back with any answers. Disappointing !
Most of the food items were good though . Drunken noodle was really good . Thai curry and rice was also good . My friends had shrimp and they liked it . The only thing which wasn’t tasting fresh was the dumpling . They have a small bar with few varieties of beer and cocktails . Overall a decent experience but could have been better .. 3 stars ! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️
I would have love to give them the benefit of the doubt however the treatment we experienced was very poor. My coworker and I are on work trip and wanted to have some Thai food. We have frequented other Thai restaurants so we thought we would have a good experience. When we walked in the vibe was weird. We were seated and treated like an after thought. Took so long to take our drink order, food order, or serve us our food. We saw guests who were seated after we arrived get their food and served with a lot more courtesy. I believe this place is amazing for the community but I didn’t feel welcome at all.
Their Pad See Ew is to die for 😍
Best Thai food in NOVA. Food is so tasty! Our go to Thai place. Red curry, satay, and pad Thai are so good!
Hostess was dismissive when asked if we could get a table away from the drafty door saying the rest of the restaurants available area was reserved. We asked twice if we could have a different seating and she loudly said NO WE MAY NOT! I feel she was trying to embarass us. There was NO ONE else in the restaurant at that time.
Yet we could hear guests who walked in afterwards without reservations (since we were at the front door) given tables immediately where we had previously asked to sit and worse yet we had to grab seats for ourselves since we had twelve people. There was space for 12 people in that restaurant as we saw 8 walkin /no reservation groups come by us and get those seats.
We took one from their stuffed animal, we asked for more chairs but they just counted tables and walked away like that solved anything.
Why would they act like that?
Yes we are a minority group so take that for what you will. At no time did a party group come to take up the rest of the area at all, other than one group of 6 with a reservation. People were given booths and tables inside the main dining area, while we who were there before anyone else, were forced to sit near the entranceway and the draft from the door opening constantly.
If my friends from out of state weren't there I would have brought this back up to her .Very disappointing.
On top of that most didn't care for the food, it was only ok.
In response:
So the entire restaurant was completely empty. At no time during our time there did this reservation party come. Also there were plenty of other booths open. It was presented as if the entire rest of the restaurant was unavailable to us. Yet the booths were used for people who walked in without reservations after us.
Does not explain why we had to grab seats for ourselves as well. I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt which is why we stayed but sadly it showed we were singled out. I wrote this out of good conscience for my kids and the other five young people who I would expect to stand up to unfair treatment they may face in their future in hopes this establishment won't repeat its actions.
My favorite place for a quick tasty meal during the week. Great prices and even better portions. Always stuffed. Thank you!
Hands down the best Thai food in the DMV
I got takeout so can't speak to the service or atmosphere but the food was great and the portion sizes were good with a normal amount of meat so it's nice they didn't skimp on anything cause places often do.
ordered an hour ago and said my food was done 45 mins ago
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this establishment and wanted to share my delightful experience. The decor was charming and inviting, adorned with adorable stuffed animals that created a warm and enjoyable atmosphere.
The menu offered an impressive variety of options, and the photos on their online menu were particularly helpful in making our selections. The generous portions and excellent flavor of the dishes were truly outstanding.
I am eagerly looking forward to dining here restaurant again in the future.
The pineapple fried rice was absolutely delicious, with just the right balance of sweetness and savoriness. The drunken noodles, while flavorful, leaned a bit too spicy for my taste. Overall, I’d still recommend this restaurant—it’s definitely worth a visit!
Traveled from CT to DC for a work trip, and my co-worker and I decided to come here. We are so impressed. My co-worker is Thai and I am Vietnamese and we were so happy to discover this place. Everything was SOOOOO good and authentic!! Service was superb, friendly, and welcoming. Atmosphere was super cozy, clean, and adorable!! We will be back soon on our next work trip!
Fantastic! I ordered via a food delivery app so I can't comment on service or atmosphere, but the food was phenomenal! I had the drunken noodles with chicken and asked for it to be made very spicy. They did not let me down! Be warned, it's gonna be very hot if you try it this way but it's one of the few thai restaurants that will actually light it up when asked for. Without a doubt, I'll be ordering from here again next time I'm in town. Great job!!!

We love this Thai restaurant. The staff are so kind, and not only helped us have an authentic experience (great food, offering extra lime, fish sauce, peppers as needed), but also gave us a mango sticky rice fruit platter to share! Definitely recommend this restaurant whether for a fun date night, a large gathering, or just some good take out!
ขอบคุณมากนะ
We ordered takeout, were very excited by the Google reviews. Pad Thai tasted flavorless and burnt. Ka Prow Rice was actually inedible, chicken rubbery, bland.
Will not return, maybe the experience is different in restaurant.
I ordered a lot of food tonight from here for pickup as my family was overly hungry. Only after ordering on their website, did it mention the time it would take to receive the order (55minutes+). I immediately wanted to cancel but my wife insisted on just going ahead. When we went to pick it up, not only did they not have the order ready they also screwed it up! The service is atrocious and i will not recommend anyone to order pickup/delivery/doordash/uber etc from here. The place is a rip off. Deeply Deeply disappointed with them. This will be the first AND LAST Time i ever order from here. There are numerous BETTER THAI food places in the herndon area besides Chao Phra YA Thai.
The owner of this restaurant is so arrogant. We have ordered - chicken satay, spring rolls, Ka prow friend rice, crab fried rice, shrimp entree, thai tea's and ice cream for our lunch. we told them Ka Prow friend rice is so bland with no flavor. They took the food inside and add more soy sauce to it making it even worst.
The chef / owner came and was very unhappy when we told them the fried rice is not good.
They are only willing to listen good for an answer, which may not be true in some cases. He was very arrogant and not welcoming.
Not coming to this place ever again. Sick people, not welcoming, worst food ever, worst experience. I wish there is an option for zero stars.
Best green curry and beef salad.
Visited multiple times. The food is always on point and the place is clean, well put together. The service can be spotty depending on who you get. Wish they had a kid friendly menu
Growing up in a Laos household and eating homemade Laos and Thai food, I was pretty disappointed. My noodles and chicken had a very odd smell and taste to them. So much so I couldn’t eat more than 2 bites. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do anything to make it better or ask because it was a GrubHub order.
This place should honestly just rename itself “Leave a Tip or Leave” because that’s the vibe they’re giving! Ordered food and a drink, but the drink arrived only after I’d finished eating.
Then, the cherry on top: The guy who served the food insisted for tip very badly and reported on us to the guy at the bar counter (Probably manager). He was so rude and actually asked why I didn’t leave a tip and told me not to come back! If they focused half as much on service as they do on policing tips, maybe I’d have actually considered it. But hey, at least the name would be straightforward!
Obsessed with their food. All of it.
This is our favorite Thai restaurant in Northern Virginia. I shouldn't say that so we can help keep it for ourselves! 😁
Our go to place for authentic thai food. Gets busy at night so could be short wait for seat and food but well worth it. Whether curry or noodles or the awesome manho and sticky rice desert , you csnt go wrong. Highly recommended!
We have been coming here for years and love all of their food options.

Best Thai restaurant in town!
One of the Best spots in Herndon for Thai food. The prices are great and the food is lovely. You have to eat here!
Picked up a few apps and pineapple duck for takeout. The duck was very dry and quite disappointing, and the rest was just okay.
Edit: Tried again, delivery this time around. Food arrived hot, but did not taste good, and I ended up throwing most of it in the trash. Pad thai was very bland with not nearly enough chicken.
My husband and I embarked on a thrilling culinary adventure, discovering the hidden gem of Chao Phra Ya in Herndon. Amazing drunken noodle
Wonderful experience at this lovely, creative Thai restaurant. A fun mix of some great classics like fried rice, Penang and green curry and chicken satay, with lots of fun menu options as well if you’re looking to branch out. The staff are exceptionally kind and friendly. Been here twice and planning to go back many times!
We stopped in for lunch because it was close to our hotel. What a lucky find! The food was delicious and the service was attentive without being overbearing. I had the bean thread salad and my dining companion had the green curry with tofu. 10/10 would recommend.
In my opinion, this establishment is no longer operating under Indian cuisine. It no longer has the "Indian flavors" that I remember when I first tried the food. I do not recommend eating here.
Honesty is the best policy!
A decent place in Herndon if you’re craving Thai food.
The ambiance is cozy, and it’s clear that efforts have been made to maintain this atmosphere. The food is good, though portions are on the heavier side. I like their Drunken Noodles and Flounder fish in a sweet+spicy sauce.
However, I’ve experienced mixed service on several visits, having to ask for my check/bill multiple times.
just ate here and had some of the worst service. the waitress rolled her eyes, condescendingly explained the spice level, and was just overall very rude. I’m so disappointed because my sister has come here many times before and has said that it was really good Thai food in the area. Literally do not recommend, the decor is super creepy as well lmao. I also can’t help but feel that there’s some discrimination at play - we had two hijabis in our party. I also fully understand that someone can have a bad day, but genuinely we were so nice to her from the beginning just to be met with such disgraceful and rude behavior.
And the food was just okay - the red curry had no depth of flavor, flounder fish was overcooked. We enjoyed the basil fried rice though. There are so many better Thai places in the area whose service isn’t at the bottom of the barrel.
Worst pick up experience. Will never come back here again. Staff just care about customers in restaurant. They don’t care about customers picking up the order. Unprofessional. Very rude staff.
As soon as we walked in the waitress guided us to our table and was so kind. The food came out promptly and was so good and had very authentic flavors. My husband speaks Thai so many of the workers talked to us and were so excited about it. My husband ordered Panang curry with chicken and I ordered Ka Prow Fried Rice with Chicken. They gave us a medium spice level and it was authentically spicy! We loved both of our meals so much and loved talking to each one of the workers. As we boxed up our food, they brought out cute little coconut puddings for us that were such a nice touch. We’re so glad we live nearby, this will be our regular spot.
The food is probably good, but the experience I received today I could not tell you for sure and hence the rating. Ordered for pick-up via uber eats. Was initially told that the food would be ready at 12:11pm and then the progress was updated to 12:37pm. Then checking at 12:20 to see the food is now ready as of 12:09pm. So by the time I got the food it meat was overcooked and chewy, since my food then has been sitting for over 25+ minutes by the time I received my food. Hence the 1 star rating because something that I was looking forward too was ruined.
Great food!
Ingredients seem fresh and flavorful. Drunken noodles and appetizer so good…at first. Salad way too spicy! Unfortunately, both of us became very ill soon after. I should have read previous health inspection. Keep refrigerated foods cold and hot foods hot and clean produce well plz…took entire evening for both of us to recover. Lesson learned. Lots of excellent alternatives family owned joints.
This is a local place my husband found that we have fallen in love with! The food is great, the ambiance is adorable, and the service is top notch! We have been here when it’s empty and at lunch when it is packed. Service was the same. They team serve and we never felt unattended. I love that it’s family owned and operated. They have loyal customers from my family!
I recently visited Chao Phra Ya Thai and had a mixed experience. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was both nice and unique, adding to the overall charm of the place. However, the service left much to be desired.

Such good food here but be careful with the spice! Lol

This is some of the best drunken noodles I've ever had. I've been coming to Chao Phra Ya for the past 7 years and they have been extremely consistent with the food, service and atmosphere. The interior decorations are interesting but don't let that turn you away from this place, you will fall in love with the food.

Wonderful staff & meals. Served in a timely manner & followed spice levels closely. ( I’d give it a 5 except my boneless duck in the red curry was not as tender.)
Their drunken noodles and summer rolls are perfection
Very nice place. When you walk in you are greeted by plush happy stuffed animals but it works for this place. Service is impeccable. Top notch. My only complaint is that I felt my shrimp was a bit undercooked. Highly recommend this place. Very clean and bright. Loved it!!
Best garlic chicken I've ever had. Such a great atmosphere and service. 100/10!!!!!
Best Pad Thai ever!! If you love a flavorful / sweet Pad Thai, you won't top this place anywhere. We've had Pad Thai at numerous places around the globe, who knew the best was in Herndon, Va, lol. We got takeout, but the interior was adorable when I went in to pick it up.
A while back, we were searching for a place to have lunch at Village Center at Dulles, where there is a European-looking building. We ended up dining at this Thai restaurant, which we really enjoyed. Best Thai cuisine restaurant in town
Great thai spot!
Very playful atmosphere, with stuffed toys and playful decorations. Welcoming and kind service.
We got the green thai curry, curry puffs, and the crispy duck. The green curry was wonderfully balanced between spice and flavor. The curry puffs were amazing!!! Highly recommend! My girlfriend loved the crispy duck and spring rolls. We also got a order of the mango sticky rice to-go, that was incredible as-well.
Drink menu was very innovative, with some unique and playful drinks. I got the Bahama drink, overall tasty drink.
Highly recommend giving this thai place a try, especially dining-in, as the atmosphere is great for a date night.
Just had dinner here. Everyone was extremely helpful and kind. I have Celiac Disease and although their menu doesn't specify the gluten free options, the staff knew my restrictions and knew their menu well. They were extremely helpful and made me feel welcomed. I should have taken a picture of my food. But I was too hungry 🤣 but their Old Fashioned was on point too!
This Thai restaurant is a very unique and cozy spot in the Herndon area.
We went on a busy Friday night and still the service was super quick and the food was spot on. We ordered Basil fried rice and chef’s fried rice, both were pretty good. The basil fried rice was full of flavour, and I would recommend it more than the other dish. For me, the biggest highlight was the decor, it is probably the cutest and well decorated Thai place I have been too in NOVA. Overall, if you are looking for a cozy place to dine in, I would definitely recommend this spot!
My husband rates this place the best thai he has found for delivery in the area. We took our kids and the place is so darn cute. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a quaint date night
What made this experience worthwhile was the service. They were kind quick and made great suggestions. The food was delicious. I was here for a business meeting. It was great for a small meet and greet. I did notice it filled up around lunch time but not so much that you couldn't sneak a small group of 3-5 friends easily.
Have been eating here since 2003. Still awesome. Best Thai food in town. Garlic Shrimp and Green Curry are my two favs.
I had drunken noodles and they were one of the best I've had. Great service. Awesome ambience. Truly recommend it!!
We came for valentines dinner and had the most wonderful time! The staff was so lovely and the food was amazing just as always. Our only go to Thai restaurant, can’t wait to come back!
Excellent food, clean, cozy, and reasonably priced. Their calamari is cooked so it's super crispy on the outside, but the squid is very tender - almost to the point of having the texture of fish. Their green curry is awesome. Their fried banana with ice cream is a great way to finish with something unusual and tasty.
My family and I love this restaurant. The people are friendly, the atmosphere is delightful with all the stuff animals and trinkets plus the food is outstanding!
I think we accidentally stumbled upon our new favorite Thai restaurant in the area tonight. This place is perhaps the most comparable to food we had in Thailand. Everything was fresh and portions were great. Now I know why they are so busy all the time. Will definitely be returning soon!
Inside of the restaurant is very cute and even restroom. Grilled whole squid is recommended.
It was my to go place for thai food until last night. The waiter confronted me about the tip in front of everybody! It was like a haggling session, so rude and unprofessional. Guess what, you lost your customer!
My favorite appetizer is calamari, chewy and delicious. Great pineapple fried rice, and love their seafood spicy dish too.
I loved the stuffed animals, so warm and inviting. The food was delicious. We had Panang Curry.
While the culinary experience fell short initially, the addition of hot sauce elevated the flavors. However, the cocktail was disappointing and not recommended. Improving the overall service attitude and creating a positive atmosphere could greatly enhance the overall dining experience.
It’s probably the best Thai restaurant in our area. Is it the best I’ve ever tasted? No, but it’s a great alternative. The service is great and the atmosphere is comfortable. Love the cute aesthetics of this restaurant. There’s plenty of parking and service was fast, at least for us when we went there. The best entree that we ordered was the yellow chicken curry. It was very tasty and they give you plenty of chicken. I would go back to this restaurant again.
BEST THAI FOOD. I travel for work, so I have gotten Thai food from many places across the country, this place is my standard for good Thai food.
This restaurant is a little gem we discovered! The food was incredible! We ordered the green curry and the wild pork which was delicious! Leave room for dessert because the mango and sticky rice was so so good! Parking was super easy and service was good! Will definitely be back!
We discovered this lovely Thai restaurant through Facebook. Although it's located an hour from our home, we decided to try it out. It was so worth the drive! Kelly was our server, and she was so delightful, supportive and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a wonderful experience! We had the duck with chili and basil, chicken curry puffs, gyoza, and wild pork dishes. All were a culinary delight! I highly recommend this authentic Thai restaurant! I think this may be my new favorite Thai restaurant! We look forward to visiting again soon! 🥰
This Thai Restaurant has the best Thai food I have ever experienced. I didn't even have Thai food this good in Bangkok or Phuket. I ordered takeout on a whim and tried the Spring rolls, crab wontons, duck roll, Semui beef, Panang and Shrimp with basil. I also tried their Thai ice tea and mango smoothie. ALL were amazing. The staff is really sweet too. This will continue to be the restaurant I'll frequent when craving Thai food!
Ordered food online and getting weird smell from food it seems not properly cooked. I couldn't even smell for 10seconds. Very disappointing for throwing food on trash which don'tlike to do. This wasn't expecting from 4.5 overall rating resaurant to service for customers
Item: pad thai
Everything is really good. Green curry is my favorite. Drunken noodles and Pad Thai excellent.
Always enjoy our meals here! Fast and delicious!
Food was excellent. Pad Thai was a little too sweet compared to our taste but rest were phenomenal. Ka Prow and crab fried rice were so good! Even the satay was fresh and juicy. Highly recommended. Service was okay and seats were a bit ehh. But the food is worth the trip! And portions were big even for lunch.
Best seafood salad i ever had. Delicious.
I don’t normally give reviews
But I’ve done in the middle of the dinner
My observations from 3 years ago are all corrected wrt credit card handling! So revised review to 5 stars. And the food is still great! Can't say anything about that duck roll as I didn't try it. The Sea Food Pad Thai was likewise delicious; great variety of shrimp and mussels, wonderful flavors!
Can't do Apple/Google wireless pay. They physically take the cc to their machine; not well setup for customer protection.
Now for the important stuff, the FOOD: Food was delicious and took less time than I normally see. Only fault with food was the duck roll. Overcooked, no flavor. Fried rice, and the Ka Pow both great. And the calamari was likewise very good and tender. Over all, I think I would go again. But I don't think I will have the duck roll until someone says they have changed and have gotten it right.

My first time here. Don't bother coming here. They don't appreciate those who actually walk-in to dine. Sign says "wait to be seated". So many employees running around me, looking at me, and no one approached me to seat me. You're probably better off ordering delivery. Looked too busy fulfilling online orders.
My first time at Chao Phra Ya. Lunch today with my brother. Busy but seated with no wait, friendly fast service, great menu, lovely warm decorations. Ordered the Som Tom (papaya salad), vegetable green curry, and tofu with bean sprouts. Som Tom was delicious, reminded me of Som Tom in Bangkok. Love the fact they used ripe cherry tomatoes in the Som Tom. Green curry was also quite traditional and very flavorful. I was very happy the chef used some green chili peppers for flavor and little heat. Tofu with bean sprouts was tasty and perfect textures. Overall an excellent experience. Will definitely dine here again if I am in this area.
Really horrible experience, the “manager” was so rude want to make us pay for something we didn’t order! Food it’s ok not coming back for the horrible service from the manager
We go every time we visit DC. Food is delicious, fresh and consistent. The place itself is awfully cute and inviting, and staff is courteous and friendly.
Good bright atmosphere. Typical Thai, but heavy on white pepper flavor. Great service.
Possibly the best combo fried rice I’ve ever had & the crab puffs were full and perfect. I loved it.
Horrible Service. This place should be closed based on that service alone. Food is fine.
The food was good (but not exceptional). We went on a Saturday evening. The service was very slow. We had to wait for every little thing from getting our drinks till getting the final check. It almost felt like they were forgetting us and then we had to call them and remind that we were waiting on them.
So good
I’ve only had take-out experiences with Chao Phra but their food is solid. I usually go with their chicken pad Thai and occasionally their drunken noodles but have had their soups as well. I would say in terms of quality, consistency, and flavor they always hit the mark. Locally, they’re pretty well known and have a good/quiet vibe. Compared to other Thai places I’ve been to in the DMV, this joint is up there.
Delicious food, fast service and very pleasant restaurant.
Got takeout from here yesterday. Ordered the curry puffs and the ka prow fried rice. The service for pickup was good and the place looked really cute.
Unfortunately the curry puffs weren’t my favorite. They were very bready and potato heavy, I wish there was a bit more meat in there. It was also a little disappointing that an order came with only two, but they were pretty decent size.
The fried rice was really spicy and almost had a burnt taste to it. I didn’t like it at all and didn’t have more than a couple of bites. The rice itself was a good texture and the chicken in it was good, but I didn’t enjoy the flavors overall.
I went to this restaurant several times. I like Thai food. I can eat again .
Super spicy food never asked for
Ordered through Uber eats last night made me so sick
Both me and wife for were sick
The meat must be also not cleaned
We won't go on private channels
Sickening food
None ask for so much red peppers
Both of us this morning had stomach ache
Chao Phra YA Thai is the place go if you need super tasty Thai food in Reston, Herndon area. I used to go to their Reston place - MyHome Thai Bistro but their quality/taste has been gone down so i did taste about 6 Thai restaurants in the area and finally this place was found. Pricing of the menu is very reasonable and portions are great comparing to others in the area.I drive 5 miles to get my best Thai food (Pad thai, Pineapple fried rice, Crab fried rice, Basil fried rice, Galanga soup and Siam beef) . I go to them at least three/four times a week and they don't disappoint. Their staff is very nice and accommodating. Manager Jake and his team is awesome.
However, their kitchen is super busy on weekends (F. Sat. Sun). You need to order ahead of time like 45 mint- 1hr in advance. Perhaps they should hire more people for the kitchen or back end operation if its not enough to cater the demand. You can order food online, but it's a bit more expensive than their menu price. So, I always call them to place my order. I place 3-5 times a week so dont want to pay extra for food platform service fees. I do have to call multiple time though, probably because they are either short on people or super busy. There is an inconsistency in the 'spicy levels'. Sometimes I've noted, their 'spicy level 4' is what is at a spicy level that i can handle, but other times their 'level 4 is too spicy. It changes depending on the chef i think. Not all the times but i have realized this time to time.
Excellent service, delicious food with great portion sizes, and tasty drinks. One of the best meals I had on my vacation.
all I gotta say , the dishes we ordered were GUUUUUUUUD!!!
Drunken Noodles with chicken.
Green curry.
Pad Ka Prow with shrimp.
Solid Thai. Will go back.
Flounder and duck is the best here. Food comes quick and the ambience is so nice. Must try.
I hosted a family birthday dinner here. They accommodated us all and had seating together. Food was delicious and the atmosphere is inviting and comforting. Complimentary cake was a nice gesture.
Best Thai tasting food in Herndon if not Northern Virginia.
