Informal eatery serving an array of Vietnamese dishes alongside Thai curries & sushi rolls.
Vietnamese restaurant in close proximity to University of Buffalo.
My son is now a student there, so will probably frequent this place often.
The prices here are fair and the portions are well sized.
On the morning we went, lots of things were not available, but I am keen to try their curry soup.
We ordered the large size Pho, the laab salad and Pad Thai, all very decent and good.
Bring cash, as credit card purchases have a fee.
7 of us came late 1 night and glad we did. We stayed passed closing hours as we were catching up and lost track of time but we kindly given our time and space. Good was good and service was exceptional. We don't live in Buffalo, far from it but if we come backs we would come back here. Clean spacious space too. Really enjoyed the calamari. Nicely done with the light batter. Everything was very good
Loved the freshness of the Pho or noodle soup as kids called it. Served with fresh bean curds. Basil, and jalapeño to add as much as you like. The sauces were great as well. Good winter place to warm up in Buffalo for healthy New Year.
Arrived at around 10pm on Friday night (12 Jul). Originally wanted pho and given the name of the restaurant, I thought they only served Vietnamese cuisine. It's a pretty broad menu with thai and sushi dishes as well. Not as many pho options as I hoped. Ordered Pad Thai with shrimp, it had decent flavouring and good portion size. I kept biting into an ingredient that was waaay too salty, couldn't place it though (might've been the scrambled egg). The red curry tasted like a mild version of an East Indian curry dish, good portion though.
Visiting here from ATL for a family reunion. We had a party of about 20+ people
Here’s an overview of my visit.
Service is 10/10- Was greeted at the door with a smile and immediately seated. Server was attentive and explained the menu thoroughly. Everything came out in an orderly and pleasant manner.
Food is 10/10- sashimi was so fresh, pad Thai was made deliciously, the wings were incredibly crispy and flavorful (sauce was so good!), Tom yum soup was just right, and the salads we ordered were amazing
Highly recommend this restaurant! Support a small mom & pop business and enjoy this delicious food.
Will be coming back here every time we visit!
The restaurant was clean and nice looking once you walk in. We didn't have to wait and we got to pick our seat. We were the only ones in the restaurant. They really didn't have people coming to dine in but they had a lot of people coming in to pick up orders. The waitress brought us one glass each of water when we sat down. After that they didn't ask if we wanted other drinks and they never once came around for refills. We ordered yellow curry, sizzling duck, two different types of fried rice, and the fried banana for dessert. My daughter ordered the yellow curry spicy and it wasn't spicy at all. Next time she'll have to ask for Asian spicy to see if that makes a difference (that's what they title the hottest heat level for their food). We also ordered the dessert to come at the same time as the dinner and they forgot. We had to go to the counter after fifteen minutes of them serving the good to ask if it was coming. If you plan to eat here make sure you have extra time as it takes a while for the food to come out. They also didn't check in on us once to see if we needed anything, to see if we were happy with the food, etc. Lastly, we ordered the fried banana. We never said we wanted it with coconut and it came covered in it. If you don't like coconut.... Which my daughter didn't....you'll understand why it was super disappointing to get this and she couldn't finish it.
I am so disgusted with this place. My husband surprised me today and wanted to go on a lunch date, so of course I said yes. We chose this place because we both love Pho and it was near my job. I ordered the beef Pho, but didn't know that it came with roaches. I didn't notice it until I had already consumed some of my meal. I am still in a state of shock, and will be calling the health inspector. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Yuck!
I absolutely love it here!! My favorite Pho place by far, and their Thai Iced Tea is really good as well. I come every year for my birthday!
The food is really good! Love the location and service.

Went for dinner at this place coz its close to the hotel I’m staying. Ordered the Pho, the broth was ok but the meat is tough. Hygiene is questionable as a cockroach was scampering right next to my bowl on the table. The place gave us a 20% discount for that but i won’t be back. God knows what happens in the kitchen

Food was outstanding.

They forgot my hoisen sauce and sirracha for my pho! Pretty big mess up. It's like forgetting a burger patty when u buy a hamburger. Won't return
This was a complete letdown. I came here expecting a hot, ready-to-eat meal 🍲, but instead, they handed me a bunch of ingredients and expected me to assemble it myself 🤨. If I wanted to cook my own pho, I wouldn’t have come to a restaurant! On top of that, the prices 💸 are way too high for food that I have to put together. Seriously, if you’re not going to cook it, at least charge less. Won’t be coming back. 👎
Had delicious and well packaged take out vegetarian gluten-free pho, which isn't widely available! Very well decorated and clean with friendly staff. Will definitely be back!
Delicious 😋 and fast
They serve water with cucumber and lime. Yum! Everyone was happy with their meals. Staff was great.
Little expensive for what it is, but not too bad, I think I’d prefer anchi a la carte over here.
Loved the food. Good portions, got the food quick, two lunch entrees and a app was like $40. Definitely would definitely go again. Only minus one on service as we had a new waitress, that just wasn't quite keeping up with everyone.
The food here is good! If you don’t even love Vietnamese food and are on the fence or want tot try something new. Please try this place out and show it some love.
Outstanding!!!!!!
Food is hands down the best Thai food I've had here in Amherst. It's unfortunate that I have to say that there is an unequal treatment of anyone who isn't Asian when they are dining in. Me and my family came today and were made to feel like we should evaluate other restaurant options because the kitchen was " so backed up ". When we said that we don't mind waiting, it was almost like it was an inconvenience to the server. She cleaned off the table and sat us down. Then we waited for 25 minutes before we got a menu. They were also extremely busy which I understood, that was until I saw a table of other Asians ( not being racist, its just an observation ) get seated pretty quickly and within literally 2 minutes they got there menus. There were several other groups of Asians that came in and received their menus and their food much faster rate than we did. I don't think all of their shortcomings or mistakes were malicious, but it definitely did not feel like we were being treated equally to the other customers that they may have felt like they could relate to. The table next to us actually reminded the server that she forgot their water and she apologized and went to go get it. When she came back I reminded her that she had also forgotten water at our table but I was very polite about it. She was very rude in her response and had her hand lifted in the air as if I was such a bother to her. Her body language and her tone weren't appreciated but of course I held it together because it's not serious enough to argue about but the behavior definitely did not go unnoticed. So I took note of it. One thing I can't complain about though is the food, it's literally the best food that you will get in terms of Vietnamese food. Everything was very flavorful with its own flavor profile, nothing tasted exactly the same every dish had its own identity but staff could benefit from checking themselves and adjusting their behaviors. I work in a field where I am heavily involved with the public, it isn't always easy under stress but if you see someone's not being rude then I can't understand why you would be. I wouldn't have tipped the server for her behavior, she didn't deserve it from us but my sister set her own feelings aside and decided to still tip. She also notified the servers that they gave us the wrong bill. Had we paid the bill that they originally gave us, they would have been underpaid by about $30 to $40 due to them getting us mixed up with another table.
I think it's safe to say that I will only get takeout from this place from now on seeing that we were made to feel like we weren't welcomed. Which is sad because this place has so much potential, but it's just not well-rounded.
The pho was better than expected, and the curry was delicious. The waiter was also very friendly. Decent pricing too.

We ordered the ordered pot stickers and chicken satay for appetizers. I had the Panang curry and my kids the patay . The most delicious food. We stopped on our way home to Michigan. An absolute must. Best Thai food I have had in years.

Went to dinner with my friend and as we were served our dinner I looked over on the wall of the booth and there was a huge 🪳 cockroach. Literally, got up and left. It was disgusting. So disappointed.
Hands down alot better than the other pho thai place with the vietnamese city name. More affortable and tasted much fresher and better.
Their bahn mi is genuinely a biohazard. Very good place to go if you like mysterious gray sludge
Pretty bland bahn mi. The bread was more of a roll than a baguette and the fillings were meager. Decent spring rolls but maybe the least enjoyable bahn mi I’ve ever had.
A lot of food. Quiet, calm, slower pace restaurant. Good food. Will go back.

Do not accept phone call order.
I ordered a pho and tasted weird, but they did not return any money to me after telling them in the same day. I also ordered a pad Thai the day before, very oily..
Awesome Bun Bo Hue and Com dac biet. Service and prices were both good. Some of the tables have built in hotpot burners but in my few years of coming here I've never had hot pot nor seen anyone eat it so I think they're left over from a time long long ago.
The pickled carrots and daikon were not tasty at all but the pork and nuoc mam saved the com dac biet. I loved that the soups could come in any size from S-XL. I got the medium and it was definitely enough.
I ordered the Japanese rice with chicken spicy level three. There's no way that this was fried rice it was mushy as hell taste like steamed rice. No flavor. Everything tastes old no freshness to any of the food. Overall the worst Thai dish I ever had for over $15 it was a waste of money!
Lots of variety but food tasted bland. Good to fill your stomach.
Quality food
有点咸
肉给的有点少
Food 4 | Service 5 | Atmosphere 3
Ordered the summer roll and pho bo. The summer roll was good with chicken and shrimp, no complaint at all.
The pho was mediocre, there are too much noodles but not enough beef and others. The soup is just okay. For $14, I did expect a bit more!
The atmosphere is missing! Somehow felt like in a hot pot restaurant because of the hot plate on the table.
Can't say much about atmosphere and service as I had my food delivered. What I can say was how disappointing the pho was. This pales in comparison to pho I've had in the past.
The worst part of my meal was how they served the meat. Meat in a pho is supposed to be thinly sliced so the heat from the broth can cook it, but I got literal chunks for meat! It's just undercooked meat in my pho! That's a giant red flag for me, never ordering from here again.
Very good my first visit when I ordered the vegetarian Pho. Upon the second visit I got the beef pho and there was a hair in my pho and I ordered the friend banana dessert and my ice cream was freezer burned. They immediately took it off my bill without any problems so I would recommend!
This is a really good restaurant but you will get more out of the menu if you are familiar with Thai food. If not the staff are well spoken in English and will walk you through the menu.. this restaurant is spotless including the kitchen and that is really important. You will not be disappointed.
Amazing flavors come out of the doors of this place !
You know when you take the first bite of something and you go “oh god” because you know that this meal is about to push you closer to nirvana than you’ve ever been? The pho here is that.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in the area. The food is very authentic feeling and all the servers are super nice. They are also very efficient even when it's busy and the restaurant overall usually has a nice chill atmosphere
Fine quality dining, conveniently located near the University North Campus
Back in town after two years away. This place has gone way downhill.
Authentic Pho. Workers here are also very nice.
Found the portion to small for the price. The sprouts where brow and old. The pho seemed to have a lot of fat chunks and not much meat
Curry udon was incredible
I was excited to try this place. I wasn't feeling well, so I wanted Pho and decided to have it delivered. An hour after placing my order and having it confirmed by the restaurant, my delivery was suddenly cancelled. I called the restaurant and he said my food had been sitting there, but the driver told him it was Door Dash, but it somehow wasn't. I had to drive to the restaurant to pick up my "delivery" order. And then he continued to argue with me and told me to call the delivery company with my issues. I ordered on the Pho54 website. Yikes. I fear this place won't be here long if this is how they conduct "business." Zero accountability. Zero apologies for the inconvenience. I won't be eating here again. The food was just ok anyway.
牛肉湯粉一般,價錢略高。
Very disappointed with the food quality for how much they are charging
Very disappointed with their customer service. It disheartens me to leave a bad review. This used to be my favorite go-to place for pho. I have supported this establishment for over three years. This evening I ordered food to go, Medium pho with extra chicken (charged), and when I got home it was horrible portion sized, definitely NOT extra meat, not medium-sized. I called to ask for my refund for the extra chicken because I was over 15 minutes away to drive back, they didn’t do that per Sidney after seeking advisement from the manager MAX. I said okay, I always support you guys this is my first complaint can you at least provide me a credit towards a future purchase? Nope, they couldn’t do that either. I will NEVER support this establishment again.
Pho đặc biệt is suppose to have different Kinds of beef and when asked them why it only had 2 kind of beef. The answer was “I don’t know what to tell you “.
Authentic Vietnamese food and I liked their Thai varieties also. Good service and quality food
I got a soup from here with my boss and when we got the soup, there were three big pieces of raw chicken. My boss has one piece in his.
Nice Pho restaurant ! I appreciated that they substituted vegetables for the noodles that I can't eat, and didn't charge me. I think the Pho at Phovana is more tasty and gives more toppings, but Pho 54 doesn't charge extra for this substitution. Kind of a simple interior but who cares when you're eating yummy food!
The food is alright but the guy at the front desk is horrible! His attitude is something
Yummy food authentic
I am a Vietnamese and I can assure you that the food from this place tastes 90% like the locals. I only order Vietnamese food from this place so I have no comment on other type of cuisines that this place offers.
The four pictures attached are hủ tíu nam vang, bún bò Huế, phở bò and cơm tấm.
Came in to the restaurant with some friends and the waiter just stared at us. We had to sit ourselves down. The whole time the waiter is just sitting there until finally he brings the menus. After we sit, we get some water to start it off and he doesn't even bring enough water for everyone. And honestly, their service is better than their food because when the food actually came, it was beyond terrible. The pho is expensive for the amount given, and the taste is dreadful. The banh mi is absolutely disgusting, don't ever get it. I think the meat used is expired.
Been on a Pho kick lately.....order the Spicy Lemon Grass Beef...was good but not great..... place is kinda of tough to find
The chicken satay was an unmarinated chicken breast fried in peanut oil brought out with a knife. There were no forks on the table. I used the restroom, and there were no towels. My wife had no toilet paper in the women's room. I got the pad se-ew, which had maybe 1/3 of the noodles it needed, an unidentifiable stem of some vegetable, and crumbles of chicken so small that it looked like it was scraped off the edges of the pan, or so big that I couldn't eat it in one bite. My wife liked her yellow curry.
Favorite pho spot in dc
味道很差劲,服务态度更差劲!!!兄弟们避雷!!
At first, the place was nice and the waiter was friendly. But then we ordered the food. Our group ordered wonton soup, beef pho, chicken pho, pad kapow with rice, dragon roll. The dragon roll was too sweet and had too much caviar. The pad kapow was good and flavorful. The beef pho, chicken pho, and wonton were all EXTREMELY BLAND!! WE KEPT ADDING SIRACHA TO ADD FLAVOUR!instead of giving pork free wonton soup, they just dumped dry, chewy, bland chicken on the bottom. Overall, except for fried rice, the food was absolutely terrible. Avoid the pho and soup if you can, which is really pathetic considering it's literally a pho restaurant.
Iam a pho lover!so we decided to try here sadly was the worst Pho I've ever had almost tasted like they put ketchup in it I couldn't even stomach it!they were not busy at all and Service was beyond slow took 15 min just to get a water!I said then I should have left ugh
asked for a toonnn of modifications and substitutions, and, like the reviews here say, they're really good with vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian customers !! also: if you want it spicy, they *will* make it spicy 🥵💞 thanks a million.
ps. they charge 3.5% for credit card, or so the sign says!!
Wonderful place for tai food. The chicken coconut lemongrass soup wS delicious
So fresh and delicious!! I got the pho ga and summer roll, and they didn't disappoint!! The peanut sauce for the summer rolls, took them over the top. The pho ga was exactly the pho I was looking for. Very flavorful and right amount of heat with soy/ Sriracha. Definitely coming back!!!
Says on their website and every where online they are open until 10. Came here at 8:30 and the place is shuttered.
Attempt to try a new local Thai place and they waste my time…never again will I try! Also had a few friends that go to UB say that this place is horrible after the fact…so maybe I’m lucky I didn’t dine here
Lovely food and heathy options
We arrived at 10pm figuring they close at 11pm and we had plenty of time. We tried to order sushi but were told we couldn’t have it anymore because it was too late, but everyone else around us was receiving their sushi orders up until 10:45?!!? Then, the Diet Coke was served from a warm can and instantly melted the ice. Our appetizer order of pot stickers the size of it was only 5!?! The menu didnt state how many were included but everywhere else it’s 8… then… our Banh Mi sandwiches were made with processed water ham meat chunks with a canned cat food type patte on the bottom. Very Bad flavor. Little to no vegetables. No sprouts or cilantro. Very hard, stale bread. Also I think it was a sourdough bread which was disgusting paired with the ham chunks, either that or the bread was turning bad. Vegetable soup was also awful and basically just water with no flavor at all and had something in it that looked like a shrimp or other sea creature which I was told were “onions”. Im scared how my stomach is going to react to all of this. Save yourself the trouble and go to a better Thai restaurant in town, there are many other excellent ones if they’re open, or mighty taco across the parking lot would even be better than this place. Also the bathrooms were gross too so that is probably what the kitchen looks like. Never going here again. Ew
In-person, not terrible, but when delivered, the proportions are not consistent. I've received what could be considered a "small" Pho in-store as an "Extra Large" online. Disappointing as the food isn't half bad.
Food lacked flavor and had the wrong texture. Pad Thai chicken(I ordered shrimp)flavor was off. Spring rolls were bland and rolled too loosely.
Good food
Pretty decent spot for Pho. Nothing amazing or out of the ordinary. Banh Mi was pretty good. Overall, while Pho54 isn't necessarily a bad restaurant, it also doesn't particularly stand out as exceptional. It's a decent option if you're in the area and looking for Vietnamese food, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here. Convenient location
Only accepts Visa and MasterCard. Couldn't use my American Express 🤯
Great flavors, wide selection in the menu, popular with college students because of large portion size and relative inexpensive price.
Last time I ate here there was a fly in my food.
Nice atmosphere.
Great service.
Great food.
Fantastic value.
Was simply not good compared to all the other Vietnamese places near my town. Everything me and my friends got was low in flavor and felt off.
Had the WORST sashimi in my life. We ordered the sashimi salad and there was ICE in the sashimi. It was also a bit chewy and not fresh at all.
Moreover, service was a bit rude (didn’t give enough dishes for everyone). What’s worse is that when I asked if tip was included, our server at the cash lied to me and said no — so, I tipped — when in fact, tip was included. As such, I ended up double tipping.
Lastly, our other group needed $50 change and their server asked if she wanted the change back. Like… excuse us, of course she does?
Overall, I would NOT recommend this place. It’s the first restaurant I’ve been to in a long time that was very disappointing.
Some advice to management:
- Please don’t lie to your customers let alone try to TRICK them.
- Please treat your customers with respect.
The water taste really bad if you dine in
Food was mediocre at best. They charged me 3.5% for using a credit card and I didn’t want to stick them with $100 of a take out order. Go somewhere else.
The worst pad Thai EVER!!!! The best pho. I don’t know if I messed up my Phone order but they gave me pad Thai maybe I did order it. Absolutely terrible!
I came for some good pho and unfortunately the broth tasted like lime juice. I'm sure it was an honest mistake and enjoyed the atmosphere and service enough to try again in the future
Ordered though DoorDash, pho was fine. Ordered pad Thai with brown rice. Was missing my rice and after a few bites found a piece of hair in my food. Also ordered 2 water bottles with our order but received soda instead. I prefer not to drink sprite as a soda option. Disappointed.
Very good food, good service and good price.
Excellent food and atmosphere
Very good place to enjoy variety of Asian influenced fare.
This is my first time here and will definitely be back. Nice service, pleasant atmosphere and great food. I ordered the miso soup as my appetizer and Pad Thai with chicken for my entree. Miso soup was very good with a good amount of wakame and tofu. The Pad Thai was well seasoned and made to order (not spicy) with a good amount of veggies; very delicious. Overall very pleased with the food and service
They said the kitchen we as closed over 50 min before closing. We even offered to do takeout instead of dining.
XL OXtail + thai tea = yyds
Got the extra large pho with chicken to go. Tasted amazing, fresh, and lasted for several meals
Small little spot, the food was really good. The price was also reasonable. I got chicken pad Thai and a spring roll. I'll definitely be going back.
Food was great - Vietnamese dishes are fabulous....good wait staff.
The seats need to be redone....cracked
and not comfortable.
Ordered door dash and everything came as requested. Pho was delicious but the Panama curry was pretty underwhelming. Not bad just bland. Still gave 4 stars because it’s a pho place and the pho was great.
I order chicken pho and after half way eating it, I found a roach in my food. Very disappointed because this was my favorite restaurant
Great food and amazing wasabi!!! The sushi was some of the best I've ever had!
So delicious and fresh. Nicest people who work there.
Not my fav. I got Pad Thai and it was way too sweet. Summer rolls were spicy shrimp. Still don't know where the spicy flavor came from but I prefer the regular plain ones. I ordered green tea and it came after I git the entree. I waited a while and then asked for Diet Coke instead. She brought both at the same time. Miscommunication I guess. The only things I liked were the tea and diet coke. Prob won't come back here again. Nice peoole though.
I had the Pho with thin beef and the Vietnamese style meatballs. Overall it was average. The distinctive Pho flavoring tasted just a little watered down. Still good. Still obviously Pho, but not what I expected. The meatballs were thinly sliced which I didn’t expect. As I said before - still good.
One thing that surprised me was the spring rolls. What they call a spring roll is an egg roll. If you want a Vietnamese spring roll - you will need to order a summer roll. Anyhow, their “egg rolls” were good. Just order spring rolls to get them.
The server guy was outstanding. He was answering the phone, handling takeout and waiting tables. He did everything with patience and professionalism.
We got so lucky to have a Cockroach Pho soup! What a surprise! We did pay the rest of the meal per the owner’s command. If you want one too this is the place to go.
Another hidden(!) gem in Buffalo.
Good is decent but the price is not great service tho.
you’d expect somewhat better food for the price but it is mediocre
Just thoroughly excellent 👍
Sat down. No service after 15 mins. Left.
Delicious!!!!!! We had the pho, pad Thai and sizzling duck. Each of which were fabulous!!!!! And their customer service was so courteous and professional. We asked for extra disposable bowls and plates and they accommodated us as well. A pit stop on my next travel to that area for sure.
Doesn't like the taste of Thai food. Only tried Pad Thai though.
Good service and generous lunch portions.
Great food and verity.
Food is mid. Had the oxtail pho, it was different but really good. Portioning is a little small. Service is good too.
