Set in a strip mall, this easygoing Thai eatery serves popular fare such as curries & noodle dishes.
Quaint, hole in the wall Thai joint.
The staff was incredibly friendly and remembered me from a previous visit. Their food is top notch. The table shared an ordered of Calamari (so good!!) and I ordered their Pad See Ew with Tofu and a glass of Plum Wine.
Will definitely be back. I want to try some of their specials!
Don't let the atmosphere fool you into not trying this place. It has the best soup I've ever had. I'm sure their other dishes are good as well, but really I can't get past the soup. The N8 is what we get. I get it without peanuts and they put tofu in it instead of chicken for me. You can get it as hot or as mild as you like. Medium is good for me. We took a friend here for lunch and he actually picked the bowl up and drank the rest of the broth it - it is that good. The service is great! The parking is good and the prices are reasonable. We come here a lot and have never been disappointed.
In town on a mini vacation getaway. This food is very good. Ordered pad Thai chicken, fried dumplings and Thai lettuce wrap. Couldn't get any better ππ
Update: Pad See Ew with Beef, Green Curry Chicken, and Pla Rad Prik were great. You can also order a spice tray on the side if you want to add additional heat or flavor to your dish. The liquid one with a vinegary flavor added the most heat of the four flavors.
Nice spot with space and seating for about 40 people. The flavor of the Basil Thai and Drunken Noodle was very good. The sauce had just the right amount of sweetness. The heat for Thai Hot was pretty good. I'd like it even hotter but it's pretty hot. I really liked that they give two options of noodles for the Drunken Noodle: thin or flat. I'm not a fan of flat noodles but the thin noodles made the dish great. The Wonton Soup and Summer Rolls were good as well. The vegetables in the rolls and entrees all tasted very fresh.
Staff has always been friendly when Iβve called/picked up. Been ordering from them for yrs. Have tried others that have opened but this is still my go to because the dishes are consistently good. Favorites are the pad see ew , Thai diner delight, drunken noodle
In absolute shock. Been a customer forever. Got a pick up order. Prices are up. Food volume is down two thirds. Favorite part is spring rolls and spicy mustard. No mustard. Here is a picture of how much they reduced the food. Look how much smaller the rice box is..I used to get 3 meals off an order and tonight didn't even fill me up. The actual non rice meal was packed in a box like the rice. Not anymore. Like an appetizer
I ordered pad see-ew with pork, Chinese broccoli and flat noodles(thai spicy). Pad see ew is usually a pretty mild dish but i wanted some spice and they nailed it! Perfect level of hot. I also got the fresh summer rolls, 6 dollars for 2 of them is as good a price as you will find ANYWHERE. This place is a gem, don't dismiss it. The thai iced tea balanced everything well. Lovely waitresses whose smiles were genuine. Love it. I will be back.
My meals were outstanding. The noodle stir fry with chicken and beef was spiced just right. Plenty of protein. The drunken noodle was very good and my son will likely get thai hot next ho around. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Delicious food with good portions, great service

Overpriced Chinese food.
10/10

Very authentic. Lots small touches that feel like youβre eating at someoneβs house. Lots of regulars come in as well.
Good food, fast service

Food was great, especially the fried soft shell crab π¦
Delicious food and wonderful service. Great vegetarian options too!
My meals were outstanding. The noodle stir fry with chicken and beef was spiced just right. Plenty of protein. The drunken noodle was very good and my son will likely get thai hot next ho around. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I ordered for pickup and the lady was rude to me. For 16$ I was not impressed.
Great Thai food in the West End. Drunken noodles are fresh with generous proteins and slightly charred veggies. Good spice levels. Quick for a takeout lunch.
Ordered the same dishes at several Thai restaurants in the area and Thai Diner was the most flavorful every time. The restaurant has an informal but cute atmosphere with a dining room that's not oversized or rundown, but I have only ordered pickup.
Absolute banger. My lassi and I were looking for a dynamite spot for Thai and this didnβt disappoint.

I was look at with disgust from the lady at the counter but someone after me was treated with high respect β¦ havenβt been there in over 15yrs will never return and my food was trash on top it all
Loved it, the food was fantastic.
Excellent food! Huge portions and great prices. The Spicy noodle dry dish was amazing. Probably the best Thai I've had. Family of 4-- appetizers and main dish each, $80 bill! . .I've not seen a bill below $100 at a Thai place in years.
I was so nervous but omg everything was great! The Thai iced tea is toooo good and the spicy basil rice is everything, tried the mild and Thai spicy and both were too good! Also tried the apps for two and everything was cooked perfectly and portioned great! Def just gained a loyal customer!
Great Thai food at reasonable prices - staff were friendly and helpful
Food good service VERY friendly!
This is the most amazing Thai place I have ever been to. Every time I travel and try another, I can't help but think about how good this one is. No one ever measures up.
Been going here for years always good love the bankok chicken!
Always great for the last 25+ years that i have been going!! Try the potstickers!! It only gets better from there! N7 and drunken noodle are my favs!
Always go on the way to Best Shoe Repair, right next door. A reminder of Bff tradition for girls day.
Hours on google are incorrect. Theyβre not open as late as they say.
I walked in and was completely ignored (Iβm black, which I wish I didnβt need to mention) as the two ppl at door had a conversation about rare shoes, once they were done they finally acknowledged me after a few moments of me waiting. Two other customers (who were white) were greeted immediately at the door. I will never spend money on this racially prejudice establishment and neither should you. 0 out of 5 stars for blatantly racist customer service.
Ordered on Uber eats and it was fantastic. Great portion sizes. Pad see ew, pad Thai, and fried rice for the kids. Everyone loved it.

Always delicious and hot, and very fast. I always get the pad see ew with beef and itβs really good. 5/5 for sure
If I Could Give This Establishment A Big Fat ZERO(0) I Would, I Walked In For A Pick Up Order And The Woman Behind The Register Yells Out "NO CASH! NO CASH HERE" In A Shaken Up Frighten Voice... At That Moment I Felt Extremely Racially Profiled As A BLACK MALE. The Lady Behind The Counter Assumed That I Was Trying To Rob The Restaurant Instead Of Listening To What I Was Trying To Tell Her, She Kept On Asking Me "What Do U Want" While Blatantly Ignoring Me. I Do Not Recommend This RACIST Place called "Thai Diner" As Somewhere To Eat
Consistently yummy food. Man of the house is a pad thai connoisseur and heβs in love. Itβs not nearly as greasy as most pad thai dishes youβll discover, locally. Reasonably priced and fast to prepare, as well as deliver. The only fail I had was a dish where I picked tofu as my protein, with the intention of eating more veggies than protein, and I got a big old bowl of fried tofu with a small serving of veg. The flavor was still great. Curries rock. The ginger root is legit. This is excellent stuff.
Update: pad prik pla muk (squid curry) was my go-to. Last 2 times I ordered this, it was excessively oily, and the portions smaller (even the veggies were light). Also, on the βBeyond Menuβ app, it makes you pick a protein and pay up for it. Itβs a squid curry so Iβm not sure why Iβm paying more for the squid. Pad Thai is still a staple best but Iβm not sure Iβd go for a curry again. Coconut milk emulsifies when itβs cooked correctly, so a film of oil is not appealing, and an indication of additional oil that shouldnβt be there. The βapp for 2β has really good tempura shrimp and really good veggie spring rolls, but really bad wontons and very average dumplings.
The food was fantastic! Can't go wrong here!
Best Thai restaurant in Henrico county.
Food was very good, first time at this place. We were surprised that it wasn't very busy, and we will be back again.
Great food and excellent service. Staff is super friendly and helpful.
The food is really good. It's in an older strip mall but, don't let that fool you. I assume I was talking to the owner... Friendly and great food.
I recommend it. It's good eats
Food is amazing here 10/10
Usually when I go to this restaurant for lunch the food is good and fast as I only had little time for break. Theres one waitress who is ok but the young boy is excellent. I went there recently and it would be my last. I walked in and saw the waitress see me walk in. I sat down and waited as it was more busy than usual. I want to point out that I was the only African American in the restaurant not to say that it was racial but that I stood out like a sore thumb. A man comes in behind me at she waits on him. Because of my limit time I get up to leave to walk past her but she says nothing. It's the worst feeling and not a huge restaurant.
Amazing dunked noodle I got the Thai spicy level
I ordered pad see-ew with pork, Chinese broccoli and flat noodles(thai spicy). Pad see ew is usually a pretty mild dish but i wanted some spice and they nailed it! Perfect level of hot. This place is absolutely fantastic. I've been going here about 2 years now and they are consistently delicious each and every time. For a real treat try the Yellow Curry noodles. It's almost like a noodle soup with curry broth, noodles, a protein, and vegetables. Great for when you are feeling under the weather or it is cold outside. 10/10 would recommend.
Visited many times. Great food and very nice staff! My kids say βThai Diner stuffs my tummy!β
Always great food! Love this place!
My favorite Thai spot, I've been eating here for 13 years. Good people, good food! (I love the Bangkok chicken! )
Quality has gone downhill. One piece of chicken in pad thai. There's more in $4 tom yum soup. I know chicken prices are higher but for $12 paid Thai there could be more than one piece. Value and taste is mediocre. I give two stars for ordering and retrieval process. Other than that, there are better Thai restaurants.
Great place, I have been many times. Wonderful people working there. The pad thai is amazing.
Truly authentic Thai taste here! I lived in Thailand for many years and my 10-year-old son is half Thai and we absolutely loved our first meal from here! I called in the order, was able to order everything in Thai (some things don't translate and also the best way to ensure they make it truly Thai style), and the service was very friendly when I picked it up. Took it home and watched my son devour it like I've never seen him do with any other Thai food in the US. That says it all for me as my son spent his first nine years growing up in Thailand. In his words, "this tastes like home". We'll definitely be back for more!
Food and service was good
Hands down best Thai in Richmond!!
Great food!!!
I have been eating here for the last 15 plus years. Food and service is the best in Richmond. The food is out of this world. The owner's are wonderful too.
Shrimp included a grand total of THREE shrimp and a pound of rice. Definitely not worth the price!π‘
Hands down the BEST Thai food in RVA.
Great Thai! They downplay the spice tho, order one level hotter than you usually order. Thai hot was barely American hot.
Delicious Thai food. One of the personal best in Richmond area.
Best Thai food in Richmond!
Tiny place, but great food and excellent service!
Food was delicious. I had the amazing Thai with shrimp and it was amazing. Service was very good. Will definitely be back.
Itβs rare to find bad Thai food, but how often do you find βOH MY GOD! this what I will compare all Thai to moving forwardβ good? Like. Iβve eaten Thai tons of times all around the world, and yeah, in Thailand. I will probably never have Rad Na as good as what I just had, which is actually kinda rude since I donβt live here and donβt know when Iβll be able to eat here again. The noodles and vegetables/tofu were served separately, each was flavored a little differently so the noodles had a delicious, almost Smokey, stir fried flavor and then ya added the veggies. Dang. We need a, β5*+β option.
Ordered Pad Thai, Tom Yum Soup, Summer Rolls and Cucumber Salad. Everything was delicious! This was our first time ordering from Thai Diner and we were impressed. Used the app to order which was super easy. Food was ready for pick up quickly and packaged up well. Everything was really reasonably priced and so tasty. We will definitely be ordering again soon!
I used to work nearby and a coworker introduced me to this place and pad thai. Fell in love instantly and soon brought my family to try. They also fell in love! Years later I travel all the time for work and moved away from Richmond and am always trying Thai restaurants. This by far is my favorite Thai food. Their dumplings are served in a delicious curry sauce. The pad thai is made fresh to order and always is a hit. The basil duck is another favorite of mine. Super crispy and succulent. I wish I lived closer but anytime I am in Richmond I always stop by and have some fantastic food. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
Awesome place and great staff
So tasty
Our go to for pad Thai. So good. Cool little hole in the wall dining atmosphere if you choose to dine in.
Always a stop when I'm in town. Extra, extra thai hot for me.
Absolutely love this place! Owners are welcoming and know their customer. Food is the best Thai Food I have had - authentic and tasty! Spice level is on point and food is consistently great! I only wish their portion sizes were what they used to be from a few years back, as I can't get enough of it!
Excellent food and service. We order Thai pad chicken w noodles, Bangkok chicken, fried rice, Spicy noodle bowl and itβs all delicious. Owners are so kind and care about their customers!!
Hands down best Thai food!
So... I like to try other Thai cuisine when on biz travels. Visiting from Florida. Many Thai choices here in Richmond. Food is subjective of course except when just not palatable! This not the case... the locals seem to praise it. For me itβs average. I have been spoiled to some outstanding Thai. This is worth trying out. Thai can be influenced by the part of Thailand the owners are from. Sort of like chili in Texas and chili in Cincinnati are not comparable. This flavor of Thai was not getting it for me. I am going to try another Thai restaurant tomorrow night...
Food and service-teriffic. Some pricing changes reflecting this post Covid culture.
Solid Thai option on W. Broad St away from Short Pump. Appetizer chicken satay very well done. Potato puffs appetizer good too. American hot sriracha chicken a big hit for its crunchy texture. Pink noodles pretty good. Great customer service too. Peanut sauce can be better.
Food is awesome and owners are good people.
Just as good, maybe even better than before. Fast, extremely cordial service with large delicious food in a pleasant atmosphere at reasonable prices. Lunch is a great time to go, especially nice place for taking someone special who wants Thai, spicy or not even a little spicy. This is a local and small business worthy of our support.
This is one of the best Thai restaurant! Must give it a try.
BEST THAI FOOD IN RVA!!! I am addicted to their food. Get N7 on their menu. You will not regret. The people are so nice and I have never been disappointed (I go here quite often). Please do yourself a favor and go here.
The food was delicious & the service was very good. We were a party of 10, and she kept up with our food & drink orders. I'll definitely be back.
Knowledgeable staff, great service 5β food
Kind of a hole in the wall. But the food was good.
Staff was courteous. They answered our questions politely. Food was delicious and and a large portion .I recommend that you try it, we definitely will be going back
AMAZING customer service! Friendly, outgoing, very helpful. Wonderful and delicious food. Very filing! Definitely eat here, you won't regret it!!!
N7 Dry is the best thing to ever be served in a bowl!
Food and service was excellent.
Very casual atmosphere almost feels like more of a take-out place but there are tables and the food is absolutely excellent. Itβs evident as the place is always busy.
It was really good. I had drunken noodles
The portions are perfect and on the large side, prices are great, and the yellow curry is delicious! My favorite! Thai Hot is the way to go.
Love going to the Thai Diner. It's a hole in the wall but the food is always good.
I love this place!
Favorite place for thai food
Food is excellent. Definitely going back when in the area.
The food is always terrific and the staff is helpful and cheerful. We have been customers here for 19 years and still enjoy
I go Thai hot every time and love it. Feel the burn!
Consistently amazing every time! I've been a customer for over 10 years and I have never been disappointed.
I've eaten at many thai restaurants, this ones a keeper.
Great Thai food. Service is always fantastic.
About 5 years since I have been here...this visit was really good!
My Siam Noodles, were awesome, American Spicy and I used the spice tray and really kicked it up...I love these sauces.
The Thai beer went very well with my spicy meal.
The service and the servers were very friendly and very helpful with my aging father.
I only gave only 4 stars for a little thing...at the time, around 8:30pm and two older employees came out front and turned their phone volumes all the way up and sat and watched videos for about 30 minutes....like no one else was there...very odd.
Over alla great experience and great food!
Food was good and everyone was friendly. Thanks for taking the time to explain the menu.
Delicious food with kind of genuine Thai taste, great and kind staff.
Great food, friendly staff.
Green curry is great! Love the Asian eggplant. Spring rolls are fresh & wonderful.
Fast service and good simple Thai food, slightly overpriced.
Fresh cooked meal, delicious!
Great for lunch with friends
The food here is definitely the best Thai food in Richmond . It is always fresh and tasty. The drunken noodles fantastic and pork dishes awesome.
Good times, good food, Thai Diner in Westland shopping center
Good selection, good food, fast service
This is a great Thai restaurant. My wife has several food allergies (gluten being one of the biggest ones) and they've always been very accommodating. The lunch menu is very reasonably priced and is a good portion size. Dinner is more expensive, but you at least get more food. The service is super quick and the food always arrives hot. I also like that you can get different spice options with everything (mild, medium, American hot and Thai hot). Overall a great place to eat!
Great
N7 spicy noodle American hot is my favorite Thai dish in Richmond, delicious!
Very good curry chicken. Piping hot and light on the stomach.
