Traditional Thai Cuisine with a Modern Twist.
Authentic not too cloyingly sweet papaya salad, tender pork skewers from the special menu, green scallion pancake cubes, spicy dipping sauces, good fried spring rolls. Normal portions but not huge American style ones. Awesome coconut ice cream made in house. The Thai ice tea ice cream was also great. The server made great recommendations. The place is small but has lots of seating. The food came out fast as it was not too busy midweek. There is lots of free and easy parking. Also a Thai grocery store next door if you feel inspired to cook for yourself. I got another portion of papaya salad and had them separate the wet from the dry. The beef salad was also good. The noodle dishes were good as well. They deliver as well. Excellent food. Probably the best Thai food so far. So yummy. Mum Aroi means “that’s tasty” and it was!
I visited this restaurant on 10/29 during lunch time and ordered drunken noodles. The noodles came out dry so I asked the waitress if she would be able to provide extra sauce on the side since drunken noodles is typically saucy/soupy. She said that they usually make it dry and that they couldn’t do anything about it. There’s loads of better Thai restaurants in the area. I would not be back simply because of the customer service.
Authentic, tasty, unique. In addition to mastery of the staples of thai cuisine (curry, noodles, etc.) they also offer delicious items in their menu that you won't easily find elsewhere. If you're looking for truly authentic thai food, try it out here! Also nice setting with great service. Next door to a thai market too, so you can shop your favorite ingredients afterwards!
Lots of novel dishes to chose from, ones you don’t find in your typical Thai restaurant like green scallion dumplings or fermented pork salad. Flavors were fresh and light. Service was really friendly. The interior isn’t the coziest with high seats that hot up against the people behind you, but that is a small detail. Definitely worth a return visit.
What a sweeeeeeet little spot! Unassumimg when you see the outside, but super cozy and welcoming inside. I really enjoyed my dinner here tonight. Super friendly. Welcoming and food was out of this world. KA PRIK KING...Yummmmmmy. coconut icecream was so so good. Great presentation. Polly was my server and is as sweet as they come and super attentive. Food came out SO FAST and so so tasty. I will definitely be back and bring my kiddos ❤️❤️😋😋🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭
Gem of a place! Great ambiance, fantastic pricing, really delicious. Got the Thai dumplings (10/10), fish cakes appetizer (10/10), chicken satay, northern style curry noodles and sautéed pork belly dish—no misses. Muay Thai IPA was tasty. Everything super fresh and flavorful.
Delicious food! Easy parking. Quiet
The food was okay. We got 3 dishes. The pad thai and drunken noodles didn't have any flavor. Most bites tasted like plain noodles. we had also asked for "hot" for the spicy levels which it definitely was not. The 3rd dish we ordered randomly from the menu. It had good flavor in the broth, but the actual veggies and meat did not have any flavor soaked in. Overall, not a very good experience.
Cute Thai restaurant, the food was 10/10, service was great.

I ordered food to be delivered. Everything arrived nice and hot, and it was all delicious. The green curry was amazing.
Authentic Thai's foods. The place is nice and clean. Foods are delicious.
Love their calamari and any of their noodle dishes. This has become a staple. Very friendly waitresses and excellent service. Authentic cuisine!
Update on August 2024. This restaurant is no longer Raibieng. It is now Mum Aroi. I went there with my family. They have all the staple Thai dishes. We thought it was good! Happy that another thai restaurant took its place. And Duangrats is right around the corner!

For the prices on the menu I think the portions are small.

This place is gorgeous! We loved the atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant. Everything was clean and neat, and the food was absolutely delicious. We asked the server for her recommendations, and she set us up with the chive dumplings, the duck basil, and some mango and sticky rice. All 10/10. This is my new favorite Thai place, and we will be coming back again and again and again.
The red curry and pineapple rice were delicious. The server was really nice, and she even gifted my baby with a toy.
Thai food is always good cuisine, but this place definitely shows why.
We recently tried this restaurant after finding it through Google. We were amazed by how tasty all of our food was. We had the Khao Soi, which is a hard to find northern Thai dish. It was delicious!
Something else that was unique to this place is the craft "Thai" beer, which is actually from a local MD brewery. The specialty lager and IPAs both paired well with our food.
We will definitely be back!
Been trying out all the Thai restaurants and dmv and this one certainly had one of the best drunken noodles. Mango sticky rice was solid too. Other two dishes were average, but overall 8.5/10 for food. Atmosphere was nice and decor was gorgeous. Service was excellent 10/10. Would go back.
Absolutely amazing!! I recommend the panang curry, green curry, curry puffs, wonton soup, and drunken noodles!!!!
I recently discovered a hidden gem of a Thai restaurant in Arlington, Virginia, and it exceeded my expectations. Intrigued by the chef’s recommendation, I tried the Kuay Teaw Koow Gai, a delightful noodle dish. The flavors were exceptional, and if you’re seeking authentic Thai cuisine, I highly recommend this place for a delicious culinary experience.
Be warned....the green papaya salad is delicious, but spicy!!!!
It's best the best panang in town. I've been to every Thai spot and the panang here is the creamiest, thickest, and most complex.
Best wonton soup!! I wish they gave a bigger portion but omg!!! Divine!!! The broth is super flavorful but not too heavy. I'll order 2 portions next time for sure with a side of jasmine rice. The pad see ew is also delicious. It's my second time ordering it and still very delicious and more than filling. Good small establishment 👍🏻
The service was friendly and on top of things.
The food was really good. I really like the chicken satay. The sauce was so nutty and flavorful.
The pad Thai was seasoned well and the noodle texture was springy. My girlfriend got the drunken noodles and they were really good too.
The portion sizes were quite generous and the prices were reasonable. We were so hungry we did not taken any pictures once the food came out!
We finished our meal with the mango sticky rice which was our favorite part of the meal.
I showed up not knowing that Rabieng had been sold by its previous owners and was now under new ownership and had a new name. We dined nonetheless hoping for a familiar experience. The food certainly did not live up to the previous restaurants standards. It just wasn’t as good or filling. The service was fine, but again not what we expected after years of dining at Rabieng and being hosted by the Dungraat family. This used to be my favorite Thai place, not anymore…

Generous portions, flavorful food.
Since moving from CA to VA, best Thai Restaurant I had come across in Falls Church. Clean ,cozy and excellent food and service. So close to where I live too. Will visit again.
My experiences at Mum Aroi, a Thai restaurant that positions itself as a purveyor of authentic Thai cuisine, have been characterized by a mixture of average culinary offerings coupled with concerns about cleanliness and ambiance. This comprehensive review aims to provide an in-depth assessment of various aspects of the dining experience, shedding light on both positive and negative facets.
Mum Aroi endeavors to transport patrons to the vibrant streets of Thailand through its menu, featuring a diverse array of Thai dishes. However, the execution falls within the realm of average. While the flavors attempt to capture the essence of Thai cuisine, the overall culinary experience lacks the depth and authenticity that would set it apart in a culinary landscape rich with Thai dining options. The menu, while comprehensive, fails to deliver dishes that leave a lasting impression on the discerning palate.
Ambiance is a critical element in any dining experience, and this is where Mum Aroi faces notable challenges. Your mention of the restaurant being "smelly" raises concerns about ventilation and overall air quality. Unpleasant odors can significantly detract from the dining ambiance, hindering patrons' ability to fully enjoy the flavors of the cuisine. Additionally, your observation that the restaurant is "not very clean" further exacerbates concerns about hygiene and cleanliness.
Cleanliness is a fundamental aspect that can shape patrons' perceptions of a dining establishment. Visible lapses in cleanliness not only impact the overall atmosphere but also raise questions about the restaurant's commitment to maintaining high standards. In a competitive culinary landscape, where patrons seek not only authentic flavors but also a pleasant dining environment, addressing cleanliness concerns is imperative.
It's essential to note that the success of a restaurant extends beyond the taste of the food. The ambiance, service, and cleanliness collectively contribute to the overall dining experience. In the case of Mum Aroi, addressing the concerns about cleanliness and ambiance would be crucial for the restaurant to enhance its appeal and provide a more satisfying experience for patrons.
In conclusion, Mum Aroi, while offering a menu of Thai cuisine, falls short in terms of both culinary excellence and cleanliness. The average culinary offerings, coupled with concerns about ambiance, create an overall impression that may leave diners seeking a more authentic and enjoyable Thai dining experience elsewhere. Addressing these issues promptly would be essential for Mum Aroi to improve its standing and deliver a more satisfying culinary journey for patrons.
Love to order Pad Woon Sen noodle. It’s really delicious worth my money. The staffs are also very friendly. It’s a hidden gem restaurant in Falls Church.
Authentic not too cloyingly sweet papaya salad, tender pork skewers from the special menu, green scallion pancake cubes, spicy dipping sauces, good fried spring rolls. Probably the best Thai I had in the area. Food was delicious and it came out quick. Deff coming back
The food was very good, and not expensive compared to some other Thai restaurants.
Soup is joke. Almost nothing in the soup. Food is added too much sugar. Not my expectation from 4.6 rate.
Food was good and flavors were there. Only things is portions were a tad bit smaller than expected. Ordered fried rice, papaya salad, drunken noodles, pad see ew, boat noodle soup and Tom yum noodle soup with the family. Really nice decore in the restaurant. Would recommend but order a lot of food! Enjoy.
Delicious food. Service here was great. Parking is free and readily available. And food is delicious. My wife still raves. The setting is very comfortable, with very friendly staff. The crispy chive dumplings and homemade dipping sauce were wonderful. My wife absolutely loved her spicy shrimp basil eggplant and my spicy basil fried rice was perfect.
(Review for Rabieng) Favorite Thai place in Northern VA but it can be variable. I do go every other week or so, so it's not enough to keep me away.
We really liked some of the entrees and appetizers, cashew chicken, drunken noodles, chicken satay, num tok, and the Thai ice tea. The spring rolls, crispy wontons and veggie potstickers weren't as good. I really liked the savoryness of the chicken curry puff, but my wife didn't like the chicken or veggie curry puffs as much as some we've had in other places. The Isaan sausages weren't to my taste they had a very soft casing and mild flavoring.
The Thai ice tea ice cream and snow ice were a nice treat at the end. We had no expectations for the snow ice but enjoyed it, my wife really liked the coconut gel topping.
Another stop for authentic Thai food. Staff are friendly, the place is very clean, and food is delicious.
My friends and I recently ate here and we all loved the decor and layout of the restaurant but for us the most importantly for us was the food, we thought the food tasted amazing and very authentic as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal with a good vibe as well
Ate here the other day with my husband. So nice inside! Our waitress was so nice knowledgeable about the menu. We asked what she recommended and she told us some authentic dishes that Thai regulars gravitate towards. I had the boat soup which was crazy good! I hadn't ever tried it, and I'm really happy I did. My husband got the thai basil duck and it came on the cutest duck plate! He really enjoyed it although it was a little spicy for him (but amazing if you really like spicy food which I do). Will be coming back for sure.
Tried two entrees for lunch and felt this new Thai restaurant is just your average restaurant. You'll be disappointed if you're used to the previous Rabieng authentic Thai dishes.
New management.. garbage food.. Used to love it, it went from best to worst..
Brand new restaurant. Beautiful, clean interior. Very friendly wait staff. The food is great. We had drunken noodles and pad see ew both with tofu and a Tai iced tea. Loved it. Can’t wait to go back.
The stir fried clams were delicious. The green curry was really well spiced.
Delicious pad Thai, flounder, and pineapple rice. Staff are so nice
We very much enjoyed our meal and the service at this recently opened Mum Aroi Thai restaurant in Falls Church. The restaurant is very clean and has a pleasant/authentic decor and the super friendly staff are very attentive. We are looking forward to going back again and trying other dishes in the near future. Great experience overall!!
Food was okay, was better when it was called Rabieng. Staff was friendly. Cute cozy restaurant. But I miss the old menu and chef.
For dinner last night- we thought the food was excellent--different from, but at least as good, as the Rabieng which we used to frequent. The dumplings, satay and fresh garden rolls were all very good, and the chicken pad thai was equally good. The prices were modest. Hope they get their liquor license soon which they are expecting.
We really enjoyed the food and the service. The decoration was lovable. 🙏🏼😌
This is not the same restaurant anymore. Why is it getting the rating from Rabieng restaurant? It's a horrible experience compared to Rabieng and the food is the worst part! Not the same at all! Google please take this false rating away from mum aroi.
It was not busy when I came on a Monday. Everything was soooooooo delicious. I had the drunken noodles with shrimp, papaya salad and beef basil. I was very hungry. It all came out so fast. The Thai iced tea was perfection.
Finally The desert was amazing. Mango and sticky rice.
I would come again if I lived in this area.
Came in at there first day of the opening for this new restaurant. All the food that we ordered were delicious and absolutely authentic. The designs of the plates and bowls were so cute, especially the one for the crispy duck. The atmosphere on top of the amazing food made my night. Will definitely be coming back regularly. 10/10
The most authentic Thai food you'll get in the area! I've been coming here for years!
One of my favorite Thai spots! Absolutely love their chicken basil dish. Best chicken basil I’ve had!
I spent a week in the DC Baltimore area for business, and I ate out every night, so I got to try quite a number of places. This place was by far the best of any I visited the whole time. Too bad I only discovered it on my last day.
The food was really delicious. I had the lychee dumplings to start (fantastic), the sea bass for my main (amazing) and the mango with rice pudding for desert (also very good).
The service was also very good. Attentive, but not stifling.
Highly recommend.
Rabieng is probably one of the best Thai spots on the Eastern seaboard. Great attention to detail on each dish along with spice quantity, very attentive wait staff in a cozy and comforting environment.
Amiable staff and great authentic Thai food. Order was quickly served
So far we’ve tried most of the items on the menu and have been satisfied with all of them, my favorite is the cashew chicken bot the pad tai is excellent also.
Local, family owned establishment. Excellent food and service! The khao soi noodles were unbelievably good!
The service was great—very friendly people. The food came out quickly and it was tasty. The lychee dumplings under the 'street food' section were especially good! Only complaint is even the top spice level was pretty modest. Maybe that can be negotiated though. Worth a visit!
Get the Thai iced tea, lychee appetizer, khao soi, and mango sticky rice. Absolutely incredible all around and I wish I had a bigger stomach so I could eat more from here in one sitting.
Nice and quite place . Food is delicious
Got pad thai with chicken and an order of tom kha soup. Pad thai lacked flavor and was orange in color which I find is usual for low quality pad thai. I know pad thai isn't very authentic to begin with but I've had better.
Tom Kha soup was delicious, creamy and rich. A little acidic but really tasty!
This place was very cute and clean on the inside. Pricing was usual for take out Thai food. I'm curious about coming back and getting a different item instead of the pad thai.
Great food!
Best Thai food in the DC metro. Definitely order the Mieng Kham!
ALWAYS excellent food!…..very down to earth vibes…reasonable prices…..very friendly service.
Best Thai food in the area! Even our young son loved the stir fry.
Best authentic Thai restaurant in the area. They have got plenty of dishes that you can't find at other Thai places around here. The staff are super nice, and I've gotten great recommendations on more obscure dishes, and they've all been great!
The perfect atmosphère.
Service is great.
Food has always been authentic and delicious.
Best authentic thai food in the area
Delicious food, friendly and attentive staff! Thank you!
My favorite Thai restaurant
This place should be on Tom Sietsema's short list. Undoubtedly one of the most authentic and unassuming restaurants in the DC area, Rabieng is beyond delicious. If you are debating between Rabieng and another restaurant, I assure you Rabieng will be the better choice.
Real Thai food.
Excellent. One of the top 3 Thai restaurants I’ve eaten in the DMV. Flavors are spot on.
Very good food. This spot has been around forever.
Food was amazing.
My favorite excellent authentic Thai food restaurant, spicy and hot. Great selection of noodle soup, curry, and vegetarian dishes. I love the Thai ice tea, papaya salad, and shrimp pad thai. The place is small and clean, nice ambience, indoor dining, and take out. Employees are polite and helpful. Can get pretty crowded during lunch and dinner time. Enjoy.
I have gone here many times when my longing for authentic Thai food becomes too strong. I lived in Thailand for many years and Rabieng’s food is definitely true Thai food. The staff is wonderful and I have never left disappointed.
Old reliable Thai food. The last I ate here was over 20 years ago and it didn’t disappoint. Soft shell crab with chile basil was outstanding.
Very disappointed this restaurant does not make it easy for 3rd party deliveries. I would love to leave a positive review.
During the power outage, we were looking for a place to eat and ran across this little gem. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our waitress was extremely friendly. I would definitely go back!
Carryout on 7/5: Pad thai was too sweet. In basil sauce entree, a LONG brownish/redish colored white hair came out. Did not eat once found. For fried dishes, I don’t think the restaurant uses fresh oil. The batter/dough all broken down, low quality. Sauce tasted fine but they need to focus on sanitary.
Best Thai food I've had in D.C. region.
They have good food and the staff is friendly. Very quick service too!
I lived in Chiang Mai for two years and this is by far the best Thai food I've had in the US since I've been back. The owner is extremely nice as well. If you want REAL home made northern Thai food this is the best place.
Simply amazing...my favorite place...I get Rabieng's fried rice with no vegetables...I know that seems or may sound bland but it's not...the smoky flavor...the tender rice...the chicken and the shrimp taste so ooo fresh...
Simply delicious. Fresh fish! Amazing service
Great thai food, I order from here frequently. I am a vegetarian and love their Tofu chili basil, and vegetarian drunken noodles. Good stuff!
Delicious, authentic Thai food!
Excellent service. Food is fresh and flavors are great.
Best thai in NOVA, no questions asked.
The best Thai food in the area
excellent food and service. I will visit again.
It's a hole in the wall place but it's got some of the best food I've ever eaten. I moved farther away, but don't think I won't drive forty minutes one way for some take out!
Everything is amazing! I've been here many times and tried many different things. I took many photos and now I forgot where I put them. Be careful when you order the spicy noodles, you can tell them to put the chili on the side. It's super HOT. Pad Thai supreme (with soft shell crab), the fried rice, the papaya salad, the curry are all great. Appetizers are good. I haven't tried any chicken dishes so I don't know.
Food is amazing and the servers provide the best customer service! I always make a special trip to eat here when I’m in VA!
Great place. We had went to another place and they changed their recipe so we got looking and really glad to have found this place. Thanks for making great food
some of the best thai i have ever had! the tempura plantain are amazing, and the lychee dumplings are refreshing and delicious. the staff are friendly and welcoming. you have to get the coconut ice cream or warm mango dessert if you eat-in. so tasty!
Excellent food. Went there for the first time for dinner. Did a to-go. Ordered fried calamari, pad thai and Northeastern Chili Chicken. Calamari was ok. Not as crispy as I expected. But the other 2 dishes were good.
Liked the Northeastern Chili Chicken. It was spicy. The way I like. Very few Asian restaurants have real spicy dishes. Usually they say its spicy but hardly it is. This had the right spice! Would recommend this dish.
Decently priced tasty food
Solid Thai food. Chicken panang curry was delicious, super flavorful and complex. We got the food to go because of covid, so I cannot comment on service. However, we were missing one of the dishes we ordered, but the people on the phone were very nice about it.
First time eating Thai food and it was delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed. The staff were super friendly and though I've never been there before they treated me as if they've known for years. It felt like I was coming home and my mother had prepared dinner for me. The selection of dishes are great, I will have to come back to try more.
Quick service (5 minutes) and delicious food.
Raebing offers an authentic Thai experience at very reasonable prices. The staff is also excellent, and you won't find anything better in the realm of traditional Thai food.
Awesome service and excellent food!
Great Thai food.
Food was delicious just could of been served hotter.
Delicious, authentic Thai food! Their larb gai (chicken salad) is aromatic and delicious. Their noodle soups are so hearty and warm
Great basic Thai food. I would definitely recommend.
Decent Thai. That is all.
We've been going here since the 1990s. It is and has always been our favorite Thai restaurant. Food is excellent and the staff is very nice.
Best pad kee mao. Pad Thai supreme is awesome. Roasted cashews every time.
The catfish basil was super.
I LOVE this place. It is small and unassuming but it is genuinely delicious. Great service, great vibe.
Always great food. We come to this restaurant for special occasions and just to make life better.
Great service, excellent wine and drink selections, and of course great food.
Thank you for being dependable and consistent.
We've heard great things about this long-standing Thai restaurant, which is a sister to Duangrat's, but with a more northern Thai flavor. We love northern Thai style and decided to check it out. Surprisingly on a Saturday at 7:30, when we walked in, there were only 3 other tables. Our server was super cheerful and nice throughout our entire meal. We checked into Yelp to receive a couple of complimentary Thai iced teas. I'm glad they were complimentary or I would have had to return them. Not sure if it was because they were free, but there was basically no tea. It tasted like sugar water diluted with some condensed milk.
We tried a papaya salad and the stuffed lychees to start. The papaya salad was the typical and pretty good, but the stuffed lychees, which are supposed to be a signature here fell flat. It wasn't as flavorful as one would think it is. There's no sauce, and overall the dish was quite dry. The lychees seem like canned lychees, and were not very sweet and the pork stuffing was bland.
On entrees, the boat noodle soup was ok but we expected a more beefy flavor. Thai Square still wins on this dish. The fried rice was very underwhelming, we left a lot of it to waste. We also ordered 2 fried flounders, one with the mild ginger sauce, one with the spicy sauce. These were quite good - the fish were fried well - crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. Based on the size that day, they were $35 a pop (menu should be changed to "market price", currently lists $25). We asked for the sauces on the side to keep the fish crispy.
We finished off the meal with a mango sticky rice at our server's suggestion. Nothing to write home about, but it wasn't bad. We would come back, but only order selectively - a papaya salad and fried flounder.
Loves me the Rabieng. It's the gold standard thai place for me.
Excellent food, big variety, and friendly staff.
Inventive interesting flavors.
I loved the street snacks.
Great service, great food and great value
Delicious food and friendly wait staff. It's good northern style Thai/Lao cuisine
Attentive staff, cosy environment, tasty food with a nice presentation
Frfr this is the Best Thai food in Northern VA. The spicy catfish salad, papaya salad and ALL of the noodle soups are amazing. Also, make sure to request Keng. He’s a great guy all around.
Had a great experience at Rabieng. The customer service was amazing, and the food delicious. I highly recommend it!
Tasty food. Great service. Quiet environment.
