My husband and I are planning to go to Thailand so we decided to try Thai food. We ordered pad thai, chicken curry, thai dumplings, curry puffs, and Tom yum soup. Everything was delicious. When they say spicy, they MEAN SPICY. So if you can't handle the heat ask for spice on the side.

Polished concrete floors, dark wood accents chandelier over the bar. Nice restaurant for a date. The papaya salad was delicious and healthy. I had the green curry, hot. Nicely spiced with fresh looking ingredients. Tasted great. My wife had the cashew noodles with chicken and loved it. A slightly sweet dish. It’s currently decorated for Halloween. Friendly fast service.

This was our first time here, and it won't be our last. The food was so GOOOD!!!! I was craving Thai food, and every dish was so comforting. We got 3 appetizers. The spring rolls, the grilled steak salad, pot stickers. We ordered the green curry with chicken, basil fried rice with chicken, and pineapple fried rice. Everything was very flavorful and on time!!! We will be returning soon!

I only had 2 mushrooms in the $6 small bowl of Tom Kha; wish there had been more. The lunch portions of Pad Thai were nice, but both my husband and I felt like there was VERY little protein compared to the noodles. They definitely went light on the chicken. We had hoped to order coconut sticky rice and mango, but the service was so slow and inattentive that we ended up just skipping dessert. I joked with my husband that we’ll definitely go back, but not when I’m super hungry or when we have plans after.

The wonton soup was too expensive to have only two wontons in it. There are several Elephant Thai’s in the city, and I’ve never received an order of wonton soup with just two wontons. SM$

Bad taste. Use vinegar to clean chicken before cooking it, do this and your platters will taste better.

Food was out fast (drunken noodle and pineapple fried rice) even though they were busy.The sushi was fresh and wonderful(Niku Roll, Night in Bangkok, Godzilla, and seared tuna sushi 🍣 were really all outstanding). Potstickers are amazing as well!!

First time eating here and definitely not the last. Bangkok chicken was amazing!!! Update did someone new takeover the restaurant? Went last week and was very disappointed. Food was OK and not as big a portions and more expensive.

We loved this place a few years ago but our recent visit was disappointing. The food was too salty and didn't have the fresh taste we loved when they first opened. The server took one of our orders and that food came out way before the other dish did.

Nice place for Thai and/or Sushi. Service was great. Food is really good.

I recently dined at Capital Thai and was absolutely thrilled with the experience! The ambiance was inviting, and the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. We tried several dishes, including the Drunken Noodle, Panang Curry, Sushi, Tom Kha, and Pad See Ew, and each one was delicious. The Drunken Noodle had the perfect amount of spice, and the Panang Curry was rich and flavorful. The sushi was fresh and beautifully presented, while the Tom Kha soup had a wonderful balance of flavors. The Pad See Ew was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I can’t recommend Capital Thai enough for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. I can’t wait to return and try more of their menu!

Fantastic food. Ordered Pad See Ew and the sweet and spicy wings. Both were exceptionally well done. It’s VERY rare to get actually spicy Thai food but the Thai hot is great and the wings are unreal.

Found this place a few months ago and it is some of the best Thai food in Virginia!! That being said, in order to enjoy the best food, you have to deal with the worst service. It’s the same lady every time we go and she is miserable!!!! She won’t say a word when you walk in and she’ll grab menus and walk away from you. Once you realize you’re supposed to follow, she has already dropped menus on the table and walked away. You won’t be acknowledged for the next 15-20 minutes. She will then come up and say, “what do you want?” Food will be brought out by a food runner or another employee and they are always the sweetest people! Everyone except the person you are supposed to interact with the most. The face of the establishment. Your server. During your meal, you won’t be bothered. No asking how the food is or drink refills. And you may as well ask for the check when she comes to initially take your order because you will be sitting for another 20-30 minutes after you are done before she comes back to ask if you’re done. All in all, love the food, HATE the service!!! They need to make a change front of house QUICK before she starts to kill business!! And just so every reader knows, we were a 3 top table and there were only 6 more people dining in the whole restaurant while we were there. No excuse for such poor service!! Tonight may have been our last night at Capital Thai.

Incredible calamari, pineapple chicken fried rice, and pad thai.

I must have caught them on a bad day because the service was very slow. We ended going to the restaurant and nobody even came up to us after being seated for about 8minutes. Ended ordering everything at once. The food was dry and bland. Definitely needed some seasoning at least some salt but worst part was the duck was so dry I looked like it was made in the morning and then put on our plate for dinner. The sushi was delicious though. Always like to end on a good note.

Usually I order the rice or noodles and they are delicious but I ordered the veggie sushi this time and OH MY GOSH the vegetables were cooked to absolute perfection- so simple in composition but so fresh and satisfying. I will definitely be ordering the veggie sushi roll again in the future!!!

Pretty good! I got a take-out order, with a recommendation from the employee on duty (the thai dumplings, steamed) and the mango sticky rice.

The dumplings can only be described as chonky, or perhaps, absolute units. Those four little parcels were STUFFED with meat. With the sauce, I devoured them, but on their own I thought they were just alright.

I've never had mango sticky rice, and this was a great first experience. Very sweet and chewy, and the ripe mango added some freshness. I will say, if you get this for take-out, be careful with the box, as some juice leaked out of mine and got all over my napkins :(

We order crispy duck (chef speciality), crispy wontons and a chicken speciality salad. It was disappointing to say the least. Crispy duck sauce and vegetables were delicious but the duck was anything but crispy, it was tough, grizzly and just not edible. Wontons were tasty but not crispy and seemed undercooked. The chicken onion salad was terrible. Was hoping to like the food but can't recommend the three we got. One and done for us.

5 stars all around. We arrived an hour before our reservations and they were quick to assist and accommodate us. The interior is laid out beautifully and the staff is great. They had several recommendations on drinks and food selection. The food itself was great and we will be returning. This is a great restaurant right in the comforts of our neighborhood.

Crispy spring rolls, pot stickers and ginger chicken (Thai hot). Absolutely delicious! The pot stickers are notable all on their own. Could have made a meal of just this dish. Staff and servers are professional and pleasant. Definitely recommend and it’s worth the visit. Doubt if you would be disappointed.

Update #2: Still among the best as far as I know in the Chesterfield area but that isn't saying much since there isn't much competition. Made In Asia is just not good and their heat is laughably weak. Esann is alright. Thai is better in the West End or Mechanicsville (Pad Thai on Meadowbridge 😇).

The flavors are as expected but a bit lacking in complexity. And I think the summer roll is overpriced. I tried the Pad See Ew with Beef after recently eating the same thing at Thai Diner in Glen Allen. Thai Diner simply just tasted noticeably better in terms of its flavors.

Also the summer rolls here are priced too high IMO. 7 dollars for two rice wrapped rolls mainly full of veggies and a couple pieces of shrimp is much worse in value than what Pho 60 Cafe offers. Pho 60 Cafe gives two summer rolls that are very large with more meat for only 4 dollars.

Update: Now have eaten here once and gotten another delivery. Nice, clean interior. Service was good. Food is good. I would say this place is as good as Esann Thai, meaning these two options are the best I know of nearby and in Chesterfield. The Super Thai Hot is somewhat spicy but still far from what I consider to be Thai Hot.

Old: Been here twice for takeout now. First time had Thai Hot Pad Kapow. I liked it. Good flavor and decent portion size. A little spicy. 2nd time, I had Super Thai Hot Pad Thai which was fairly spicy but not unbearably so and fairly portioned for the price but a bit bland. Not impressed with the Pad Thai.

I ordered takeout and had to call a couple of times to get someone on the phone. When I got there to pick up, it seemed they only had one person running the front of the house.

The Pad Thai was excessively sweet, but did have plenty of meat and chopped peanuts. The noodles in the the Drunken Noodles were straight up mush and just ruined the meal. Not even remotely as impressive as their current 4.6 rating would suggest.

Delicious Food! Hot and Fresh! Love that I can get great Thai without having to leave my neck of the woods and go into the city!

This place is a hidden gem amongst the rubble of terrible restaurants in our area. Most of the food is reasonably authentic, if a bit Americanized overall. Very good! Good service too!

Amazing food and service! The Thai noodle soup was DELICIOUS!! I would recommend the spicy garlic broth, very flavorful with a kick. Another huge hit with our table was the Lo Mein. Everything was delicious.

I went once before and was treated well by a male server. He was very nice and attentive. Went back today and was served by an asian woman. She treated my mother and I like she did not want us in the restaurant. After being sat we waited 15 minutes until I became annoyed got up and went to the register to ask someone to take our drink order. She came over asked for our order was rude and unhelpful when we asked about the menu. We received our food finally and 20 minutes after eating my sons food still hasn’t been brought out so I asked for it and she says oh yeah I forgot!. No apology nothing. Just nasty. I watched other people who were not black come in and be greeted immediately and with a smile! Lastly while I was packing up the food to go because I could stand to sit in there any longer, She rudely came by to grab the tab because she assumed that I was going to walk out without paying! I just shoved the cash in her hand and left. I have ordered to go from this restaurant several times bc I love Thai food but now that I know how racist and disgusting these people are or the women at least, I will NEVER give them another dime! Just put a sign on your restaurant door that says no blacks allowed! Because clearly we are not welcome!

First time and ordered mild spice chicken pad thai for takeout. Order was ready on time and drove 15 min home. When I got home I realized that they put beef instead of chicken in the pad thai. The pad thai also had no spice at all. Not sure if I was given someone else's order as it was not what I ordered.

Bad experience…. To be clear, the food is great. I dined in alone for lunch at 12pm on a Tuesday. Ordered soup and the drunken noodles.

When I received my check, I was charged for the dinner portion. When ordering, each selection was offered for lunch and dinner. I assumed since it was noon on a weekday, I would receive “Lunch”. At no point did the server ask which I would prefer. When brought up when I received my check, the server said most people like the dinner portion because of the size vs. the lunch portion. They did not want to rectify the issue.

I know restaurants are hurting but felt taken on this one. Not sure if I’ll ever return…

Fabulous in so many ways. The coconut milk mango sticky rice is top notch, do not leave without trying some (takes me back to the night markets of Thailand 😋). The service is friendly, pricing is reasonable and the food is delicious. This is a hidden gem and deserves a visit!

I give it a 4.5. The place was great. Thai red curry had great flavor. I chose medium spice which was perfect for me. The beef salad was also very good. The kapow minced chicken stir fry was very good also but a little salty. Nice wait staff and prompt service. My new go to Thai place!!!

Do not be fooled by these positive reviews! I suppose people have wildly different taste buds, or maybe this is the only Thai food they’ve tried. The food LOOKS delicious, however flavor is severely lacking and not at all worth the price. We got the beef pad Thai, crispy ginger chicken, and a pork appetizer dish I can’t remember the name of. The pork dish was OKAY, but there were soooo many onions and hardly any meat. The crispy ginger chicken dish was $19.95 and had a tiny thin chicken breast sliced on top of a giant bed of rice that tasted like microwaved ready rice mixed with ginger powder. The sauce on the side was fine but tasted jarred. The beef pad Thai was also incredibly disappointing. It honestly tasted like the smell of canned puppy food — I wish I was exaggerating. After a few bites, we weren’t able to eat anything else. I flagged down the server and let him know we weren’t enjoying the flavors, and that I’d like the check so I can STILL PAY for the dishes and leave. He was so rude and curtly said “ WELL WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?!” I repeated that I wanted the check, and he then tried to ask what I normally eat and I told him we usually get pad Thai, yet we are highly disappointed with it and don’t want anything else. He says NOTHING, walked off and abruptly brought us the check. No apology, no courtesy % comp, no Nothing. I ask the other server could I speak with a manager , and I was told “we have no manager here” … wow okay. She asked what the issue was, and as I proceed to tell her, she cuts me off and says “everyone else is eating my food” oh WOW. Long story short, I told her that she and her other colleague were both very rude and I was highly disappointed with the customer service. I said my experience is MY experience, it doesn’t matter who else is eating it. We paid and left and we will never be back. Proceed at your own risk!

Generally the food was lacking and not worth the price. Just under $20 for most dishes and I’ve had far better in the area for less. Tom kha was totally missing the tang flavor (lime juice) that soup is known for. The drunken noodles were generally bland. Disappointing for the price.

So disappointed. Was excited to try this placed based on reviews. Ordered Vegetable pad thai with extra vegetables. The entire order had a few sliced carrots, mushrooms and 3 green beans and a few small pieces of broccoli. Very bland flavor. Ordered medium spice received Zero spice.

Went back to Capital Thai completely in shock with how terrible the service was, I asked if they could do special dietery request he said and I QUOTE! "HURRY UP AND ORDER WHAT IS ON THE MENU! I DONT HAVE TIME FOR SPECIAL REQUESTS!.." I'm a little confused because they mentioned before they do honor requests and he hung up on me. Not sure why the rudeness was there but my family and I will not be back there anytime soon.

Hidden gem! Good atmosphere, excellent service, and even wonderful food. The money bags have peanuts in them and a strong peanut flavor, but still were good. I'd recommend the garlic favor and spring rolls. 😋

Okay this was a hidden little gem of Thai food. Everything was so delicious. I'm hungry thinking about it now. Service was great and timely. Prices were reasonable and the restaurant was impeccable. The Amazing Thailand, Masaman Curry, and Soups were so great!

The ambiance was nice. Service prompt, appetizers were satisfying. This place lost me on the main course. The curry fried rice was slightly runny and pad Thai noodles we do not recommend.

Staff was friendly. Food was very average, almost bland.

Love this place. Used to have to go to Richmond for good Thai food and friends told us about this place that we didn't even know was here. It's close to home which makes it even better. Delicious food, delicious Thai Ice Tea, delicious Pad Kra Pow, and Mango and Sticky Rice for dessert is Viola! 🤌. We even order the Mango and Sticky Rice to go often when driving by.

We have been here umpteen times and food is always good but in my opinion understaffed. There is usually a man who works the entire dining area by himself. He is simply amazing, friendly, and fast. On a Sunday we went mid afternoon and there were only a few people there. Once we got seated, ordered and brought our food that was the last we saw her. The food was cold on the inside. She never came back for the longest time when I asked her for a glass of water she left and I never did receive it. We tried to flag her down several times but she avoided eye contact and kept going. My hubby had to go to the bar and asked if we could pay our bill. We left our leftovers there as she didn't even stop to see if we needed anything. Horrible service this trip!! We will go back when that man is working but if we went and saw the lady working we would walk back out the door.

Oh my goodness this place is a wonderful surprise !! Small quaint such a great experience , Food was so freaking good my daughters and i tried so many different things from appetizers , Soup, 3 different entrees and each one was Deeelicious food came out fresh and hot you could tell all of it was made with fresh ingredients and definitely made by chefs who love what they do !! I have tried quite a few Thai restaurants all over and in different states and this by far is the absolute best !! Cant wait to go back even ordered more to have for tomorrow !! You have to try this place i promise you wont regret it !!

Visited first time for dinner and was impressed. We got there early to avoid any potential wait, had no issues getting seated immediately. The environment is pleasant & the staff was very welcoming and kind to our family. Most importantly, we ordered the Drunken Noodles & Bangkok Chicken which were both terrific. Portions were solid for the price and everything tasted fresh. The medium spice level was perfect as well with good heat that complimented the flavors of the dishes. We’ll definitely return in the future.

Best Thai I have had outside of the city; highly recommend the Broccoli Lover with steak and the Pad ka Pow. The super Thai hot packs a significant punch but isn’t too much for those used to a good amount of heat.

This is probably one of two Thai places in Midlothian. The food is ok when compared to northern states Thai cuisine, but the service here was cold and uninviting, servers didn't look like they were having any joy at work.

The venue on the other hand is well decorated and has a lot of opportunity to be used as an event space. Would I come again? Probably not, the other Thai place is less fancy, food is similar, but more inviting.

The food is excellent as well as the staff. My husband and I love Thai food and we're excited to try this place out as we live close by. The prices are great and the food has such great flavor!

Ordered delivery today and ended up throwing it all away. The Pad Thai was foul, lomein was bland, and the chicken in the satay had a funk to it. I'll make the drive to Tip Thai in the future.

I love Thai food and I was so frustrated with no real Thai places around Woodlake. I was so looking forward to ordering from capital Thai, and the only one time I've ordered from them I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of my drunken noodles, pad Thai, tom yum soup and Thai tea to go. A little bit more pricey than other places, but I think it's worth it. So glad there's finally a great Thai place in the area!

Finally, a Thai restaurant within driving distance. The food was delicious and the service was great. If you like Thai hot, this place is on point with the heat and will be hotter than most Thai places on Broad St.

Great food. We got there a little early on a Friday night so we didn't have trouble seating. They have a great menu to choose from and we got spring rolls along with our entrees.

The food came out fast and our server was on top of everything. We both had leftovers and my dish came with steamed rice. They brought out a container for the rice with extra rice already in it. It made from great leftovers.

In all areas, food service and atmosphere, a beautiful dining experience! Quality service and personal recommendations. Classy dining space. Each dish was fresh and flavorful. A MUST visit!

This place is horrible in terms of service. Came here 2 months after they opened. Went to the bar was going to order drinks and food. The bartender after about 8 min looked at us and said “you here drink”? We said yes then that was it. Never came back. In fact he came back 5 times to make drinks for tables never said another word to us. We walk out after 18 min of waiting for water. Do yourself a favor go down into the city. Way better Thai food and super service. This place will close in a few months. Never busy.

Best Thai in town, the staff remember us and what we order. If it’s good there is going to be a wait, the ones complaining about long lines can grow up a bit.

Our new favorite Thai spot. We had multiple dishes including: drunken noodles, Bangkok chicken, pineapple fried rice, spring rolls, vegetable tempura, pad see ew. All dishes were favorable, hot and fresh. It did get very busy around 6-630 as we were leaving but our service was very good.

Service could be better. Overall good experience. Will try again.

Went last night and it was amazing! It was a really busy Friday night and there were only 2 people serving and helping with online orders. Despite this they both were really great about checking on tables and making sure we had everything in a timely manner. Food was amazing too.

Went to this place for a family lunch today. Everything we had was wonderful, service was fast and the portions were generous. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

This was my first time here today and the food was AMAZING. The service was not great AT ALL…. And that makes me very sad because I have heard nothing but good things about this place. We never got refills on our drinks, never came to check on us at all, and we had to put a to go order in and that took almost an hour to get. I am very very disappointed in the service we got this afternoon. They were not busy and I just don’t understand why the service was so bad….

VERY good food. Best calamari I've ever had, followed up by a very good Thai Spicy Yellow Curry. My wife ordered Pad See Ew and enjoyed it very much also. Definitely would go make and try a different dish.

Good food, but pricier that the sister restaurant, Bangkok Thai.

We waited an hour and a half for our food. Plates came out at different times. Some in party finished eating before others got their food. Wait staff was deplorable. The kitchen obviously has NO idea what they’re doing. Very disappointing. It was a birthday celebration.

Came here on a Friday night and they were very busy. Food was phenomenal, definitely one of the best Thai foods I have had. For our entrees we got the lemongrass classic, Chicken Pad Thai, Yellow curry fried rice. Also for apps we got the fried wontons, spring rolls and edamame.

Food is wonderful, service was enthusiastic, but you can tell they are working out the flow.
Owner/host/cashier/server had his hands full, but made our night here great.
My birthday dinner for 15 people was incredible, several had not tried Thai before and were very complimentary of their meal.
We shall return.

Been here twice now. They have made accommodations to my meal each time due to allergies without complaints. They are a touch slow because they are so busy and understaffed but there food is so good, it's worth waiting for.

Small restaurant. It was not crowded when I was there. The food came out hot. Could have used a few more vegetables on the tempura appetizer. Not too pricey.

We put our order in and waited for over 40 minutes before walking out. Not even the appetizer of 3 spring rolls came out. There were a number of dirty tables and people waiting at the door. It was clearly understaffed, but they need to take into account how many people they have working before seating as many people as they had and leaving them to wait almost an hour for food. Very disappointing.

We got dinner here after a visit to the Metro Richmond Zoo and it was fantastic. Delicious food, kid friendly (my kids shared fried rice) and very friendly staff. Highly recommend!

I’m so happy this Thai restaurant opened up on Hull street, it’s absolutely delightful!

We started with the money bags appetizer, which were cute and fun. The shell was crispy, and the sauce was almost like a candy cherry flavor - but not too sweet. It balanced well. My only issue was that there were two of us eating, and they gave us 3 of them - and they are not easily split. Regardless, it was a fun appetizer. Maybe not necessary for a meal, but it adds some whimsy while waiting for the food.

I ordered the Red Curry, Medium heat, with chicken. It’s a very good heat for the average American palette. The flavors were delightful - the sauce is creamy and perfectly sweet. The bell peppers and bamboo shoots add a wonderful undertone that really boosts the flavor.

The other plate was the Oh Thai Cashew - and I’ve got to say this hit it out of the park for me! The cashews paired perfectly with the brown sauce, absolutely wonderful.

The atmosphere is very nice, but not authenticity Thai. The decor could be any recent restaurant, with Jazz music playing. So it kinda feels out of place - but not jarringly so. It’s a very pleasant place for a date.

All in all, I will be coming back. Soon and often.

Finally a Thai place in this part of town! curry puffs were great and so was massaman curry!

The green curry is fantastic. Sometimes the chicken can be a little dry, but the flavor makes up for it. Also love the vegetables it comes with.

Service was lovely and the Pad Thai was great-just be sure to be clear on your heat requests. My first dish was not hot enough, and my second was (almost) too hot. Also the fried rice dishes were tasty too. Highly recommend!

We ordered takeout from here last night and the food was outstanding. It's a new restaurant so they're going through some growing pains as a lot of restaurants are these days.

We had a big order (6 people) and ordered some curry, noodles, and fried rice and all 6 were excellent. My teenage kids had the thai ice tea and said it was "really really good" (they are connoisseurs in this arena!).

Overall I'm very excited that we have such excellent Thai food close to home and I look forward to updating my review as the restaurant gets established.

The food tasted delicious and came out piping hot and fairly quickly too. The staff were attentive and friendly. Everything seemed clean inside and there were a decent amount of folks dining in as well. I liked the variety of options on the menu will definitely be coming back with my family try out different curry and noodle dishes.

I've ordered takeout from here twice since it opened. The first time, everything seemed great. The second time, I ordered the exact same dish as before and the chicken tasted reheated and the dish had mushrooms in it this time (the dish is not supposed to have mushrooms).

Additionally, it took about an hour from order time to when my food was ready (which was 25 minutes longer than the estimate). There were only 2 tables of patrons eating in the restaurant when I got there and still took about 5 minutes before anyone greeted me to ask if I was ordering or picking up.

This place is absolutely amazing! We have tried a number of dishes on multiple occasions and everything is consistent and delicious. Best Thai in Richmond!

this place is unbelievably delicious and very authentic! the staff was great and friendly. i have gone back twice and the waiter remembered where i sat last time and my last order. he is always cracking jokes and making our visit all the more personable. i always order something that’s specially made and not on the menu and it is consistently good! best thai place in richmond & i’ve tasted pretty much all of them!

Staff is attentive and provided recommendations based on customer requests. We enjoyed our meal and will be back.

I would say randomly finding this place would be one of my more prouder personal discoveries. The food and service were excellent. Grandma had the Cashew Noodles and I had the Pad Thai; we were able to choose our type of meat and spice level and were extremely satisfied with the outcome. Our server was just right in the level of attentiveness to our table and had a great personality. Also, don't forget to try their Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. Will definitely be coming back in the near future.
