Thai standards are plated at this eclectic, cozy dining room that also does a business in takeout.
Good Thai food place but parking signage could be better. Someone out of town visiting the town was hard to understand finding a place to park. Papaya salad, chicken satay, calamari, drunken noodle and Thai ice tea was all above 4.5. Service was ok. Not friendly but quick service/
This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in NOVA. Amazing food with cozy atmosphere and friendly service.
I have been here twice in the past a few months. They have a large menu to choose from. So far nothing disappointing came out. Our favorite was the drunken noodles, which could be a bit spicy (you can ask for the mild version if necessary), but absolutely delicious. I also liked the Tom Yum Soup a lot.
They did not have a huge dining area, but enough tables if you would like to walk in for a causal meal. The prices were fair.
The staff here were quite helpful explaining the menu.
Undoubtedly, this is the best Thai restaurant in the DMV. They consistently serve the most authentic Thai dishes with exceptional taste and flavors. I have no complaints and highly recommend this place to everyone!
Food: Endless menu items and delicious. They offer familiar Thai dishes like Pad Thai and papaya salad and unfamiliar Thai dishes that other places don't have. What I like most about their food is that they use authentic spices and recipes that are close to the original taste.
Ambiance: Cozy and warm. The place is decorated with nostalgic Thai elements from childhood snacks, etc.
Service: Top-notch professional waitresses that go above and beyond.
Food are very tasty and authentic. Recommend Floating Market Noodle Soup and papaya salad with crab. Beef in the Floating Market Noodle Soup literally melted in my mouth. Like, wow! Grandma can come without her dentures and still can eat it (no, I'm just kidding, don't try that.) Yen Ta Fo is good too, it's seafood and not spicy. We also ordered Nam Kao Tod which is another tasty appetizer. Good potion. Attentive servers. Will definitely come back again.
Love this place! The quality of food here is on par with what I had in Thailand / South East Asia and we come here almost every weekend. Everything we tried has been well executed. Here’s our favorites:
Sukiyaki: I don’t see it mentioned much but it’s a glass noodles fried with egg and meat. The special sweet chili sauce goes well with the dish and the noodles have a nice char (wok hei) on it.
Panang Curry: We tried a few of the curries here and Panang curry is the absolute best. It is very creamy and coconuty, a very comforting dish
Pad See Ew: Super savory with a good char
Basil Squid: It’s crispy with great flavor
Highly recommended 🔥🔥
Great restaurant! Love it!!!
It is specialized in Thai food and found them to be spicy, which I choose from the menu, and I like it.
Good Thai food place but parking signage could be better. Someone out of town visiting the town was hard to understand finding a place to park. Papaya salad, chicken satay, calamari, drunken noodle and Thai ice tea was all above 4.5. Service was ok. Not friendly but quick service/
Awesome food as always!
Update: Recently, the food quality has been inconsistent, especially when ordering takeout.
-----------
Parking is difficult, there's limited paid street parking via parkmobile and that's it. If you can walk, scoot, or bike do it.
Food is amazing and prices are fair. During lunch time, prices are a great value as they have lunch specials where you can try more things!
They cater to the Thai embassy and if that isn't a testament to its authenticity and quality I don't know what would be.
Service has always been great when dining in
Update: strongly recommend NOT ordering for delivery as they have limited drivers. Just pick up if you can. Recently had to wait 2 hours for food to arrive.
They give you 24 ounces of noodles
With chicken and rice and shrimp from their site…I ordered 2 orders… for 70 dollars…don’t support them…they are terrible…
Good food. I order mild for the spice and the chicken itself was pretty spicy. I like spicy for the flavor not for the spice itself. I got chicken and shrimp pad Thai and my husband got the beef pad Thai. It was definitely enough for 4 people easily maybe more if you add an app or two. We also got spring rolls. They were definitely not the true shape of Thai spring rolls but they were still good, short, and fat. I would order from here again.
just now
New
My of my top 3 favorite thai spot in the DMV.
Been coming here for over 20 years. Everyone knows Thai Square. If they love thai food, they’ve definitely been here. The DMV is saturated with thai restaurants but this one is the only one that has stood the test of time for all the obvious reason. Great quality food, flavors, service, cleanliness and constituency. This is THE go to spot. My most ordered dishes, beef krapow, boat noodle soup, pad see ew, pad thai, lard na, yen ta fo.
I love the cozy, chill, comfy, kind vibes. The service has always been so welcoming. The servers and owners are awesome! I will be coming here till I’m old and grey. This place always hit the spot.
Fantastic food with unique flavors
Got the pad see ew and crispy duck and thought both were great! Some of the best Thai food I’ve had.
Quality. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu

Amazing food and service! Pad Thia, fried rice and dumplings were out of this world! Thank you!
Best Thai food ever!

Great food and service! Serves comfort food with incredible flavour at affordable prices. Must try the Panang Curry!
Best Thai restaurant in the Northern VA area. I’ve eaten at many many Thai restaurants and always come back to Thai Square. The restaurant has changed hand about 4 years ago but you wound never know because the food has been consistently through out. The crispy basil squid and crispy basil duck are the best I’ve ever tasted . It’s actually crispy not soggy like other Thai restaurant. The Pad See Ew is amazing with any protein. You can actually taste the wok char of the noodles. This restaurant has definitely been popular over the years but word of mouth . Friday and Saturday are so packed now that the food timely can be delayed but it’s sooo worth the wait. Go Sunday or week night if yuh want a slower pace and less crowded. They have so many amazing dishes I can’t list them all but the dishes are consistent every single time I go . I’ve been coming back to this restaurants for over 10 years. Amazing

Overall Experience, 4.5/5: This is one of our favorite Thai places in the DMV! Regardless whether we eat in or take it for take out the food never disappoints!
Food/Drink, 5/5: While our regular choices never disappoint, venturing into the realm of new dishes is a taste bud adventure worth embarking on. My top picks? The Crispy Squid, Salty Fish Fried Rice, and the Drunken Noodles! And oh, the Thai Tea or Thai Ice Coffee is a must-try--hands down, one of the finest spots to savor these delightful beverages!
Pricing, 4/5: Normal pricing for Thai food, but the lunch special is definitely a steal!
Service, 4.5/5: They always check in on us often, which is appreciated!
Aesthetic/Atmosphere, 4/5: It's a cozy restaurant, there's a decent amount of seating, but if you have a larger group make sure to call to make a reservation.
This place was recommended to us as the best Thai restaurant in the DMV. Our friend was right. This place is great. The crispy squid with basil is amazing. All the dishes we had were fresh, flavorful and just the right heat. And the portions are very generous. We over ordered but we are excited to have soft shell crab in yellow curry sauce leftovers for dinner!
Pork in garlic sauce and chicken pad see ew were delicious.
Drunken noodles were a great balance between sweet and spicy. Service was nice and the food came out quickly.

Undoubtedly the best Thai food I've had in the DMV area. The soup was exceptional, especially with a touch of added chili & vinegar. The drunken noodles were delicious; I had to take some home for another round. My brother got the green curry and that was also amazing. Only thing I would say is that I wish we got more rice with the curry but none the less everything was 10/10
Love this place 💯
Very good Thai food. I would definitely recommend.
I watch five tables that came after receive their food while we wait close to an hour for our food. We received one of our two dishes. The excuse was limited number of woks. Yet the five tables that came after were served. Very poor service.
We travel alot and try Pad Thai in every city and this restaurant goes above and beyond expectations! The Thai Tea is made with real authentic tea leaf, not powder or syrup. The coconut water with coconut meat was refreshing (my favorite brand) and the Bua Loi was so warm, soft and comforting; perfect for ending the meal.
Really good find, had a low key 2 year engagement dinner here on a Monday
The quality of food at Thai Square seems to have diminished over time. Despite multiple visits in the hope of improvement, I've consistently been disappointed. It appears there might have been a change in the kitchen staff. Specifically, the Chicken Pad Thai suffers from an excessive amount of sauce, which gives it an artificial flavor.
Regrettably, I find myself unable to give them further opportunities.
Had dinner at Thai Square at the suggestion of a jeweler down the street who said it was "a small, family-owned" Thai restaurant. I erroneously interpreted that to mean that they actually prepared as in "home cooking". The appetizer fried calamari turned out to be frozen, square, heavily breaded "white, chewy" body chunks that had been fried in cheap, old vegetable oil (based on the smell), and the fried spring rolls were casings filled with vermicelli (clear noodles made from potato starch) fried in the same oil having a slight old smell. Being hungry, we ate through the calamari, but could not finish the spring rolls due to the smell/taste. Then the green curry chicken came (more yellow than green), and as it turns out was loaded with MSG. The sautéed squid was the same breaded square chunks, again fried, but now with a sauce on it. Again, being hungry, we finished the green curry chicken, but could not finish the squid - due to taste and smell.
Got home, both with stomach cramps, wife vomited, both had diarrhea, and ended up with swollen face, hands, etc. We only began feeling better after about 24 hours and drinking lots of water to flush out our system.
Nothing family "home cooking" about this restaurant - should have gone to Duangrats.
We got takeout on a Friday night - ordering online was super easy and the service was quick. We got the basil chicken and chicken pad Thai - both were delicious!! They had a good amount of spice and portion sizes were GREAT. Honestly we loved that there were no filler veggies in the basil chicken - we love our protein over here. Would definitely come back and try another dish!
I would say out of many Thai restaurants in the DMV, this is my favorite. The food is phenomenal, Nam Sod salad is a must, as is the crispy duck with basil. I imagine coming here for a long time to come.
Great food. Great service.
The lady who served us was so rude and racist towards us. It my sister birthday and it was our first time here with our husbands and I gotta say this place is the most low level customer service I’ve ever experienced. I won’t recommend this place to anyone. The food was not worth the price!
When you see tables full of Asian
You can be sure it’s good thai food.
I’m one of the Asian 😂
Happen to visit this restaurant when I was in town. Small cozy thai restaurant that is best suited for family and people who work near by.
Service was fast and food is fresh. I had clear vegetable soup and thai curry soup with chicken and rice. Food was yummy.
Total including Tip is about $30 which in this area is pretty decent considering service and taste.
This is by far the best Thai restaurant we’ve eaten at since moving here! The lunch deals are a steal and dinner is equally impressive.
Service was good but ordered duck curry - sorry, meat was not fresh and tasted bad. The broth is not flavorful as expected. Thai Select provides better Duck Curry. P.S. I am not publishing this review for Thai Select though. Coz I really couldn’t finish even half of what I ordered today…
Stopped here based on the reviews. Dined in and it's a cute mom and pop restaurant. Glad I did. The food is excellent. Ordering more to go. I ordered the Pad See Ew as my dine in order and the Pansang Curry Thai to go and enjoy for dinner tonight. Free parking is in a lot in front of a Chinese Takeout
Great food.
Always good service and great food. Prices are moderate depending on what you get. Street parking is available in this heavily travelled area.
Fresh food. Loved the green curry. Very nice employees. Thank you!
I’ve been a regular customer of this place for over twenty years. The food never disappoints.
Good food.
Some of the best authentic Thai food I’ve had outside of Thailand! Definitely recommend. They have a lot of variety in the menu and the portions are good, if anything you’ll have some left for takeaway. Most of the clients are Thai and their staff is also Thai which already gives you two good signs that their food is authentic and good! We(2) got the papaya salad and chicken larb to start and then we shared the phaneang curry, super good and satisfied and even took some of the curry home
My family and I have always loved Thai Square since it opened up. Food is spectacular and service is phenomenal.
Tip for reservations: Call Thai Square the day before to confirm your booking. For my mom’s birthday, they had forgotten we had reservations so I was disappointed we weren’t able to sit next to each other. I highly recommend calling them ahead of time to remind them. I hope they do get better with advanced reservations, but other than that, food is always amazing.
We ordered take out from here. The pork wontons we ordered were completely over cooked and had one tiny sliver of pork in them. They were literally burnt fried dough. They mixed up the spiciness of the dishes we ordered, they made the wrong dish no spice and the wrong one spicy. Unhappy, if I was a chef I would never send those wontons out. I won’t be back, not worth $50 at all.
Very rude, terrible service.. and over priced too? No thanks maybe if service was better
Worst Pad Thai I ate. Low quality.
this place is absolutely AMAZING listen to me i’m serious. the decorations are beautiful and i wish i could get a detailed run-down of each thing. the employees were all very sweet and gave good recommendations (small side note but the mugs for drinks were so cute). the food oh my god it was AMAZING. i got shrimp fried rice and it was devoured. i tasted some of the food the rest of my family got and i keep wishing that i tried more… all in all 10s across the board i definitely would love to go again soon!!
My new favorite Thai restaurant in the DC area. I had been here once before a couple of years ago, and while I remember it being good I didn't think about coming back given my other Thai restaurant choices in the area. However, during a recent conversation to one of my Thai friends who lives in the area, he insisted that Thai Square is probably the best an most importantly most authentic of the Thai restaurants in greater in Washington, D.C. My partner and I came on a Friday night, and while it was busy we were able to get a seat. The menu is extensive and we ordered our perennial favorites: somtum Thai (papaya salad), Crab Fried Rice, and Crispy Pork Belly with Chinese Broccoli. I was also craving a Thai sausage so we ordered a Northern Style Thai sausage (sharing the sausage and the papaya salad). The somtum was prepared perfectly with just enough spice in the sauce, my husband loved the flavors so much that he kept the plate it was on and used the sauce/dressing to flavor his fried rice. The Thai sausage was outstanding - beautifully crafted sausage with an amazing blend of herbs and spices, and frankly it tasted just like Thailand with a sids of shredded ginger, peanuts, and chilis. Service was prompt, courteous, and very caring - our server returned several times to ask if we need anything and to makes sure we were enjoying our food. My partner's crab fried rice, was per him the best he has had in the area (he fancy's himself a bit of fried rice connoisseur) - and I can say the chunks of crab were definitely larger and more generous than I have seen anywhere since Thailand. And finally, one of my favorite Thai dishes Kana Moo Grob or Crispy Pork Belly with Chinese Broccoli was as good as most places in Bangkok - the vegetables and meat were sautéed just as they should be, and the broccoli and the pork belly were crispy and savory, with just the right proportion of fat on the meat. Thai square is definitely my new favorite Thai restaurant in the Washington D.C. area. If you love Thai food, or if you know good Thai then you will definitely approve of Thai square. 5/5!
I have been to a lot of Taï restaurants but this one served me a real crab fried rice thinks I never had before so now I can tell what crab meat looks like. This place is my new favorite.
Great food.
Excellent quality and authentic Thai cuisine. All the dishes were really tasty even though some of us do not eat spicy food, we had to try the crispy squid and soft shell crab (both with the basil sauce).
I believe there is an option for less spicy or mild, but our waitress forgot to mention it to the chef.
Overall really good and would still return for another try… less the spicy part!
It's small, and was crowded. 3 adults, 1 child. Meal arrived different times. Crispy pork belly not crispy the duck was. I liked the duck and calamari. I like crunchy. The veggies in the pork were nice. Only wine and beer. My daughter chose here because she loves Boi loi. You can't get Boi lol everywhere.
Absolutely love the food! The waiters/waitress always polite and friendly! I’ve come back two times and love the environment!
Went to support Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month. Was able to take advantage of luncheon specials. Had the sweet and sour, and curry entrees. Quality and service was outstanding. Had to walk a few blocks due to construction but support small business!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Thai Square, and I must say that it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality by the friendly staff. The ambiance of the restaurant was impressive, with beautiful decor and lighting that set the perfect mood for a relaxing dinner.
The menu at Thai Square was extensive, and it was evident that great care was taken in selecting the ingredients and preparing the dishes. Every dish that I tried was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavors that were well-balanced and perfectly spiced. The presentation of the dishes was also impeccable, and I was impressed by the attention to detail that went into each plate.
The service at Thai Square was exceptional, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure that my dining experience was nothing short of amazing. The waitstaff were knowledgeable about the menu and provided great recommendations, which helped me make my selections.
Amazing food and service. The best I’ve had in the area. There’s a reason they don’t deliver- they don’t have to in order to get business. The food is that good!
I would recommend the Nam Khao (crispy rice salad with herbs) with tofu or sweet and sour stir fry for vegetarians. Drunken noodles are great for meat-eaters.
(The spice is real! Compared to other restaurants, I would order less spice here than I usually do.)
The prices are more affordable than others nearby!
I was passing through Virginia and happened to visit this restaurant for a quick bite. The shrimp pad thai and Kai pang I ordered was delicious.
Our favorite restaurant with the best food. We always take out and the website is easy to order and the prices are fair
I think I found another awesome restaurant in VA! I ordered catfish & eggplant with spicy sauce, seafood soup in lemongrass broth, and Kaeng som that sour and spicy soup. They are so DELICIOUS ! The layers of flavors are incredible. It's not just spicy or sweet. Definitely, I want to go back and try other dishes😋
Wow fantastic!
Not a friendly environment. Parking was hard to find. Food was OK.
Tasty food and nice service
I’ll definitely go back
Updated: we go to this restaurant every week and we still love it 😊
Our favorite food are green curry, Pat Thai, and Fried rice. We tried green curry at different Thai restaurants. Green curry at this place is the best!
Absolutely delicious! It was my first time here and I was not disappointed. Staff was so friendly. Food came out super fast and exceeded my expectations. The pad thai portion was the biggest I've had and for the price was perfect. My boyfriend got the drunken noodles and he was very content! Hope to come back one day
Enjoyed the food. Crispy Squid with Basil. Shredded Catfish with mango salad , green and red curry all were very good
Decent
One of the best meals I've had lately. They really take it up a notch. If you haven't been in a while, just go. The food is fresh, flavorful, and delicious; service is excellent.
I am crazy about the yum talay,
The crispy duck is amazing, the basil dishes are all delicious. Cant even tell you how many more superb dishes I have eaten there .💙💙
Good food
Good thai food
Food’s delicious. Staff is friendly. Price reasonable. Parking is sometimes challenging.
Food was good, definitely enjoyed the crab fried rice. Very small inside and it took awhile for my daughter to get her chicken fried rice.
Quite small if you plan on dining in, but this is actually my go to Thai spot in all of NOVA.
Food is really good except for the Ton Yam soup which is quite watery. May be they toned it down for non Asian customers.
This is our go to place for Thai food
Thai square has the most authentic, delicious Thai food in the entire DMV area. I order from here at least once a week-- it's that good. The Pad Thai is unlike any I've ever tried, it's so flavorful! I also recommend the Chicken Kraprao, and the sun dried beef (this is a dish I don't see on most other Thai restaurant menu's).
Parking can be tricky, so I suggest taking your order to go. The staff is very careful about packaging orders, so I have never had a spill.
Great service and staff. The food is average.
Great dinner as always. Best Thai food in the area. We love every dish we have had there but favorites are crispy duck, nom tuk, and pad see ew. Make sure to make s reservation on weekend because it gets crowded.
Excellent service, great prices, and pretty authentic Thai food. Will definitely be going back.
I enjoy every time I go to this place. The best Thai food I have tried
Excellent Thai lunch menu. It's a fantastic deal. Soup, appetizers, and entre.
Excellent food! Clean and friendly service! Reasonable price.
Had the Tom Kha Kai soup which was excellent (5 stars), it was delicious.
Had a Thai Tea which was also excellent (5 stars).
*(Shrimp Pad Thai - not so excellent, BIG disappointment (1 star). Noodles were overcooked and starchy. Did not enjoy it at all; had we not had an appt I would have had them redo the dish. Nothing worse then eating starchy noodles that have not been prepared correctly..
Unable to do 2 separate review, so I did them collectively
Ridiculous price. I used to come here once a week and already found it kind of expensive, but I rationalized it as a "nice to have" option. So whatever. Now it's over $15 for fried rice...at a smaller portion than what they used to give me. Rice is not an expensive ingredient, and this is 98% rice. So why is it over $15? This cost me nearly $20 after tipping.
Quite simply the best Thai food I’ve had outside of Thailand. I lived in Bangkok for 4.5 years.
Great place with great food
I love Thai Square back then, It is even better now. I moved out of the area for a couple of years and now it changed alot. The decor, the food. I got a bunch of appetizer dishes that is enough to fill me. The fried flounder was delicious, the mussels are very flavorful, the papaya salad is on point, flavored just right. There is this fried fish with mango, a must try. Overall, this is my first choice for Thai food. I highly recommend this spot!
My favorite Thai place to eat in NoVa area. Drunken noodles and Panang currry are a must try.
Hand down, best Thai food around Northern VA.
We visited the VA area for Memorial Day weekend and stopped by Thai Square for lunch. I ordered the eggplant with basil and shrimp dish, my daughter ordered beef pad thai and my bf ordered spicy pork belly with Chinese broccoli. I enjoyed the freshness of the food that was served. My eggplant dish was super delicious. It was fresh and the sauce isn’t something that I am used to tasting in Thai restaurants. My bf’s pork belly dish was too spicy for me. Even he said that it was hotter than most Thai restaurants that he has eaten at. My daughter enjoyed the pad thai. They used thin noodles which is different but there was still a lot of delicious flavors in the dishes. It had a personal touch to it that I enjoyed. The place was clean and it wasn’t crowded with people. Towards the end of our lunch, more people started walking in. Prices were reasonable and definitely a place I would like to visit if ever I am in the area again. If ever you are in the area and enjoy Thai food, it’s worth giving it a try.
I used to eat here very often pre-pandemic, it is still great food and service.
Extremely disappointed. We ordered delivery and it was terrible. Both meals arrived cold and needed to be heated. I had the pad see-ew with tofu. The tofu was dry and tasted like a sponge and the flavor was smokey not sweet soy as listed. I had to add my own soy sauce to get through this meal. It was awful. My husband's crab fried rice was ok, but not worth $20.00 for 3 little pieces of crab.
I enjoyed this restaurant until I found a long string of hair inside the spring role. I know for a fact it was someone from the restaurant's hair because: (1) I do not have long hair and (2) it was actually inside of the spring role once I cut it open. When I informed the manager of this, his response was to offer me a free spring role. My response is to never return.
I like original Thai favor all the foods we got was great and They provide very good service.
Cool atmosphere! Great service from waiter.
The rice was wet. Who messes up rice?
First time at Thai Square on Friday night. Very busy but luckily we had reservations. Very big menu with lots of variety. Came here specifically for the fried Rockfish which was delicious. Warning it will take a long while for the fish like 45-50 minutes so order appetizers. Will be back to try more.
Definitely the best Thai place I've been to in and around the DC area. I lived in Asia for several years and had been to Thailand a number of time. This place is IT! The staff were also friendly. You can't beat their lunch prices, especially nowadays. The Masaman Curry and Drunken Noodles were the bomb.com. Don't go anywhere else... Eat here!!!
The best Thai food in DMV. Have been many times. My brother lived in Thailand for 15 years and taught me about authentic Thai food. We both agree this is def the best!!!!
Could be my last meal on earth 10/10
We love Thai Square! Tasty, yummy, fresh, and absolutely authentic! The Servers are always cheerful and the decor is very warm and inviting. 5 +++ Stars!!! By far the best of the best!!!
We had a large group and shared a variety of dishes. All of them were fantastic.
Oh wow. This was the best Thai food I’ve had in a long time. Service was super nice also. Will definitely be back
One of the best Thai places in the area hands down. We had steamed dumplings, beef pad Thai and tofu Penang curry. All incredible!
The best authentic Thai food in Arlington. On point always. Spice and flavor tremendous. Curbside service. Vegetarian and vegan dishes. You won’t regret ordering from here. Enjoy
The best thai original taste in the DMV area. Fried squid was extremely exquisite. Strongly recommend to those who want to taste thailandese cuisine.
Great place and authentic Thai food! The best in DC area. Very friendly and welcoming owner and staff! I am a frequent customer for over 10 years. I love their food and I am grateful every time for everybody's attentiveness. The menu has a variety of choices. The best crispy squid with basil and Kuo Kai (drunken noodles). Highly recommend it!
