Drunken noodles, tom yum soup, red curry & other Thai staples served from a humble takeaway kitchen.
We ordered the drunken noodles, Khao Pad friend rice, and curry puffs - all requested to be made vegan - and every single dish was so 10/10 delicious !
I talked to them before ordering to double check and they are super nice & responsive as well. I highly recommend this hidden gem !
You've got to try this! My number 1 comfort food! I always get pad Thai or massaman curry! It's strictly takeout, no seating, no lobby. I suggest calling ahead, they give accurate estimates. Come by and grab your deliciousness to go.
If you want food that’s quality you can always count on. This is the place. I’ve been coming here for years and from the start it has always been delicious. I always look forward to eating here and I can’t wait for the next time I do. The owners and persons that make the food are great people that make everyone feel welcome. Chaiyo Thai is my favorite Thai spot in Utah. Keep up the great food and service y’all!
Love this hole-in-the-wall spot!! Finally a place with decent prices and portions. I had the yellow curry and it was flavorful but not very spicy. I’ll have to go with the green curry next time and get it spicy. This is only to-go orders so don’t plan on sticking around. It had a constant flow of people who all seemed to be regulars. Can’t wait to try more on their menu! 😍🤤
I see why the “fresh spring rolls” don’t have a description. They are wrapped lettuce… that’s it.
Yellow curry is sweet coconut blandness. Why so many cherry tomatoes ? Doesn’t seem very Thai like.
Beef Pad Thai is ok. Funky flavor, no spice, dry beef.
I’ll eat it cause I’m hungry and I hate wasting food but I’ll be looking somewhere else for Thai.
We live in the neighborhood, and this is our favorite weekly spot for takeout. Fantastic experience every time - all dishes are fresh, high-quality, flavorful, and executed to perfection, and the takeout experience is easy and efficient (hot dishes are always piping hot, order is always ready when promised).
Wonderful Thai food and super friendly staff. Highly recommend!
I’ve tried most of the Thai food in Salt Lake City. This place reigns supreme! The most delicious flavors and well done classics. I especially love the cashew/pineapple rice dish.
One of our go to Thai spots. Consistently great food, good portions and reasonably priced. Really can’t be beat as far as take out goes.
Our favorites are Massaman Curry (perfect if you're looking for that savory peanut flavor), Red Curry (great if you're wanting something on the spicier side) and Pad Gar Pow with ground pork (my personal favorite, such great flavor).

Got the drunken noodles and green and yellow curries and all were absolutely delicious
Awesome. My wife’s boyfriend gets the Thai hot red curry with chicken

Hidden gem for delicious Thai food.

Chicken pad Thai was excellent

Wonderful Thai food and super friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Love it!!!
This is a takeout place only and sadly it was a dud. We had padthai and it was dry and completly tasteless. Not sure where the nearly 5 star rating came from - avoid this one.
Nice quick to go. But the Drunken noodle had no flavor. Beef was plain and the noodles tasted like plain noodle. No real flavor to speak of. Won’t be back for any more.
We have been here several times and it is amazing! Small inconspicuous place that only offers takeout, which is perfect to take home and enjoy with a movie. The spice level is pretty intense, so I recommend getting spice on the low end if you are sensitive. My husband always gets Pad Thai and I always get Pad See Ew, and both are great portion sizes and so flavorful. We will keep going back!
This place is delicious and great service
The Pad Thai noodles were super mushy. The potstickers and fried spring rolls were both way over cooked and dry content inside. Gross!
Amazing pad see ew and pad thai dishes. Definitely pretty spicy, but we have adjusted the spice level we ask for now. So flavorful and very large portion sizes. Good value. Can be tricky to find if you don't know to go down the stairs to their pick-up window, but the staff are so friendly every time.
My favorite local Thai spot. The pad Thai is good. Medium spice is spicy and I can handle spice! Cheese wontons are also great obviously. I’ve had drunken noodles and the massaman curry. All good! Pad Thai is enough for 2 meals easy.
This is soul food 100%. Definitely made with love, amazing and comforting, 10/10.
Following several years of intensive research, I can confidently conclude that ChaiYo is the best, most delicious, most reliable Thai food in Salt Lake City.
Unique flavors, high quality ingredients, generous portions, friendly service, and a totally addictive chicken pad thai that never lets you down. Mmmmm!!
Nice pickup kitchen only but food is the best
Love this place. The Larb is delicious. One of my favorite take out joints in town. The pudding is good too!!
best thai food in salt lake city
Best Thai food in Utah!! The coconut soup is the best I have had. Highly recommend!!
The cooks are amazing! You will be amazed that in such a small space such culinary skills and traditional Thai flavors are created and served in such a high standard. I am so happy that we found this hidden gem and are able to have these wonderful talented kind people exist close to our company!!!!!! Wish they were open 24/7!!!!!!
First time ordering here & will be back for sure 🩵🩵🩵
Man really good Thai! Was a bit dissapointed that it was not a sit down spot but the yellow curry was really good! And they had sticky rice! Real authentic central Thailand fare!
Phenomenal Thai restaurant. Having had legit Tom Kha, this is no joke the realist and most authentic Tom Kha I’ve ever had! This place is phenomenal!
This is take-out only (from what looks like a basement office space) so don't expect much ambiance. The food was quite tasty, nicely packed up and ready to go on time (perfect take out!). We asked for medium spice and I'd say it was spicier than expected (@7 from 1 to 10) so if you're a spice wimp like me tread carefully, at least the first time :)
Amazing curry and large portions, cheap prices, staff is wonderful 😊
Best pad Thai I have found in Utah. Great prices and portions too.
I love their food!! The vegetarian options are delicious, the portions are huge, and the desserts are YUMMY!! And I love the Thai coffee!
My favorite thai place in Salt Lake. The food feels authentic and reminds me of the meals my Yai would make me growing up!
Our favorite place for Thai takeout! The papaya salad is my absolute favorite. Trust me. But everything else I’ve had is incredible, too.
This thai food place is literally a hole in the wall (or ground) since you've got to go down stairs in between the buildings to get in there where a small table blocks the entry to the kitchen. Food was ok. I love spicy but this was too much. We chose a lower spice level and it still got us bad. I couldn't taste half the dishes we bought because there was too much spice. A level of one spicy pepper should not make me sweat and lose my taste buds for hours.
Tried this place on a whim, and holy cow was I not disappointed!!! This was some of the best Thai I've had, and I've had a good amount of Thai! We had the pad Thai and the pad see ew, both were spot on! (: Be aware it's not a sit down spot, but you'll leave with a killer dish in hand!🥰
The people who work here are lovely and friendly and helpful. The food is good. Best Thai close to me. I sure wish someone around here would put crab Rangoon on their menu tho!
My friend brought this take-out to a girls' night. Outstanding Thai food. Will become the go-to. Can't wait to have it again!
The best thai you've had, handed to you through a doorway in a basement office in a strip mall.
Delicious food with good prices and generous portions! This is our go to Thai restaurant now.
Best Thai food in SLC!!! It is a take out only restaurant, absolutely no seating. But it is a clean kitchen with a friendly server. Absolutely try everything and definitely do not skip the coconut pudding. The larb salad was delicious in the lettuce wraps; The yellow curry was delicious; The pineapple fried rice with chicken was delicious. We will definitely be going back.
Delicious food, friendly service, and the hottest damn dishwasher in the business.
Always good food, I’ve tried Thai food in many states and places and none compare. It’s super authentic flavors. Not that out of a jar flavor some places have. Friendly service and fast. Portions are generous and the atmosphere is clean and looks organized despite the building it’s in. Their prices are perfect, I feel like they deserve every penny. Almost every Friday I call Friday Thai day! As an excuse to come here and my husband doesn’t complain ha. Thank you for the great food!! Please don’t change a thing!!
This is seriously the best Thai food I’ve ever had!
Hands down the best Thai Food in the Salt Lake Valley. My only complaint is the location. I live on the West Side and they operate on the far East side of the Valley (Not their fault). It's well worth the drive. I'll continue being a patron but wish they'd open a location on the West Side (Pretty Please). Also I gave a low "Atmosphere" Rating as this is not a sit down restaurant.
Tried this place but all the curries are too sweet.
A favorite. Please go here and try a fried rice dish - so good.
This has become my only fix for Thai food. The food is always great. I haven't had a bad dish yet. The portions are big and always consistent. The yellow curry and pineapple fried rice are my go to. It's an amazing value for someone like me who prefers take out!
We ordered door dash from ChaiYo tonight (4/20/23). It was okay I was really excited because of the high praise id read in other reviews, but the rice was under done, and almost crunchy, and they left an onion peel (not a slice, but the outer chewy rind of an onion) in my curry. The flavor of the curry was good though. Portions were small for 15$ an entre. I don't think I'd order again.
The food is delicious! Portions are generous and the price is right. Love this place!!!
The papaya salad is the best I’ve had since my old Muay Thai instructor’s wife used to make it. The curry is everything that is beautiful In this world, go eat here immediately or you are missing out on the best parts of life
We love this place and everything we have had is yummy. My only gripe is under no condition should anyone want to order the salad rolls. Found out it is $7 for four salad rolls that have literally no protein. It's literally just lettuce, herbs, and rice noodles which simply does not make sense why anyone would want to pay for and eat this! Super frustrating to find out because their menu doesn't explain anything and I assumed that like all restaurants that offer salad rolls, or would at least have tofu or something. I ended up throwing all the rolls away after trying to give it the benefit of the doubt by trying it. Honestly offensive enough for me to reconsider ordering from them again.
Wow I’m so happy to have discovered this place! Incredible food! Amazing spring rolls and salad and curry and yay!
Generally, I like it. Last time, though, when we paid $5 extra per dish for shrimp, the dishes only came with 5 or so small shrimp that were not very good anyway.
Best Thai food in town without a doubt. Papaya salad is so good.
Really good top tier Thai food. Our go to place. We like yellow and green. We haven't tried the others yet
Had great food from this place. Absolutely recommend it. The quality is superb and the prices are reasonable.
Edit: I doubt anyone will see this, but this place is still crushing it. I have eaten here over 20 times with many people and it has not disappointed once! I wish every restaurant was this amazing
Excellent food! Great quality and service.
Pretty decent on price, generous portions, and excellent food!
The yellow curry was so good. Also liked the cream cheese wantons. Be careful with spice, they're not messing around. Food was fast and hot, will definitely be eating here again soon.
The food is awesome! Coconut shrimp is amazing for an appetizer. Love the Pad Thai and curry options. Best Thai in SLC so far.
Been here a few times now, every single item I've had so far hasn't missed. Every item I've gotten is fresh and tastes amazing. Not only is the food delicious but the portions are good too.
The Pad Num Plink Pow is incredible as are many of their other dishes. Hidden gem hole-in-the-wall kind of joint (in the best way).
Delicious - best Thai in Utah!
It's okay. Pad Thai dry and flavorless.
Recently tried this place out with some friends and everyone was very impressed! The portion sizes were great and the prices were so good! Everything we ordered was amazing! Will definitely be back!
By far the best Thai food in SLC. Can’t get enough of the tofu pad Thai and pineapple fried rice!
Such delicious food. Unabashed flavors. Salads, noodles, fried rice, desserts! Can’t go wrong!
This place as quickly become an at-home date night favorite. A truly hidden gem. But worth the trip down the stairs to find. Good portion sizes and just a couple entrees will leave tasty left overs for two.
Also, so nice to find one of the few places in Utah that doesn't tone down the spicy too much just to please the people that think spicy mayo is too hot.
Great food, good prices! As with all Thai restaurants, good vegan options. We'll be back, for sure.
Great Thai food! Every type of curry I've tried from here is great and the pho is also really good. One of my favorite takeout places in Mill Creek
We spent several weeks in Thailand and this is the best Thai food we’ve had since being home. The yellow curry and drunken noodles were so so delicious. Highly recommended
This place is my jam. I’ve made the rounds at Tea Rose, Fave Biatro, Siam Orchid, etc. however, ChaiYo is the one I’m hooked on. Plus, if you live in the Holladay/Millcreek area it’s extremely convenient.
Don’t let the strip mall location spook you. The food tastes great and is abundant. It’s always still hot by the time I get home. They’re clean. They’re friendly and polite. If I could give them 10 stars I would!
CHAIYOOOOO AYYYYYOOO!!!
The best Thai place in the Valley. I swear it.
.
I seriously thought about NOT doing a review just because I don't want to have to share ChaiYo with anyone else.
.
Don't let the strip mall vibes throw you off because pretty soon you'll see/understand just how brilliant/perfect it all really actually is. It's affordable, easy, clean, quick, fresh, hot every time & delicious even more often than that.
.
&& let me just say that I do not give out 5 stars lightly. I am a big believer in the lost art of providing great customer service/ practicing great/honest business practices, and ChaiYo doesn't disappoint in any way... which is so rare these days unfortunately.
.
I don't have a single bad thing to say, truly.
.
The area where you pay is always clean and tidy. I love that they separate the clean pens from the used pens. The food is always ready and fresh and SO HOT that I don't even have to heat it up when I get home. && I love that the wait times are totally reasonable too atm, so let's try to keep it that way !! (please don't tell your friends. ;) ) 🤗
.
I get one order of the Pad Num Plink Pow with Chicken - hold the bell peppers - and jasmine rice. (It comes with it) I always order a "1" on the spiciness level since I don't love it spicy. My bf and I are able to split one order into 4 small meals, so you can't actually beat that shiz either. 👌👌
.
My only complaint is that they aren't open on Wednesdays & I always find myself craving ChaiYo on Wednesdays for some reason. :) <3
Really good food, nice portions and reasonable price. We'll be back!
Great curry and fresh spring rolls!
Great food. Great service. Super Easy!
Good, quick, liked the coconut shrimp
Yummy Thai food! We got the cashew nut chicken and the shrimp fried rice! Sooo good! We’ll definitely order again :)
Super good! Pad gar pow and Massaman curry are great!!!
Amazing in every way, we've gotten food from here at least 30 times and it's always been perfect, on time, and delicious.
This is my boyfriend and I's favorite Thai place. It's affordable, delicious, and consistent. We love the yellow curry and pineapple fried rice. We get it at least a couple times a month, and the portions are so big we always have leftovers :)
Very tasty Thai food.
Absolute fire. Highly recommend.
Phenomenally good, seriously. Generous portions, fast, accurate orders, and I love the takeout containers, they make great Tupperware ;)
Delicious and fast!
So great!!! We’ve been here a few times and tried various menu items, they’ve all been delicious! Items come in shareable portions, but I usually eat it all myself because its really that good!
Simply the best
Was not open today even though they advertised that they were.
Good food, good prices.
I love this place and their vietmanese coffee is the best around .I ordered shrimp and noodles and the shrimp were huge and cooked perfect. A must try if you haven't. Very tasty
Everything is good
This might be the best Thai in the valley. Yeah... I said that. My family were big Sawadee fans on south temple but they got bought out and its just not the same. Ekamai and Skeward are both excellent, but there is just something about Chaiyo Thai that is so good. I don't think I want to go anywhere else. The people that work there are also extremely kind.
TRY IT! Trust me. Just do it. You know it's gonna be bomb. Also picking up the food at a seemingly secret door in the lower level of a strip mall just adds to the intrigue. I think it makes the food just that much better. Also I'm so sad that they are on vacation for the month of May. Like good for you guys, I'm way happy you get some time off, but bummed I have to wait to get more of that delicious food.
Pretty good and fast
Fast. Tastes grest. Price is right. Only consteuctive wpuld be that fried spring rolls were not that hot on pickup. Maybe they were fried before the other food was ready.
The food was absolutely delicious! I am so happy and will be dining at ChaiYo Thai Togo again and again!
I’m from New York so I KNOW Thai food. Utah Thai food usually sucks but this is some good stuff.
7/7.5 I will be back!
Glad to have a delicious Thai spot in the neighborhood! Usually our go-to is Skewered, but this place is just as tasty. I had the pad Thai and my partner had the drunken noodles. Large portions, fresh ingredients, and good flavor!
Great pad Thai and chicken massaman. Everything tasted very fresh. Great portion size. You could share one dish with two people or get two dishes and have a good amount left over. I got medium heat and I relatively enjoy heat but would maybe try for one dish mild next time. If you are not good with spice to for mild.
I’ve been searching high and low for 3 years for the best Thai in SLC and I think I’ve finally found it. Loved the pad Thai and the massaman curry. Can’t wait to return many many times to ChaiYo
Dethroned tea rose for best pad thai in the valley
Average, nothing great, just okay
I think this is gonna be our new family fave. Massaman curry was excellent, with just the right amount of heat! They only offer takeout...prices are reasonable. In fact I fed the family for 1/4 the cost that I recently paid at a Brazilian steakhouse.
Food was excellent. The Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Satay, and Masaman Curry were all big hits. Location is a little random, but ordering online was easy and the service was quick. We will definitely be back.
Oh man, this place is just a gem. Pure gold. Hopefully when the plague goes away these folks can expand into a full scale restaurant. I'm going to take FULL credit for suggesting the marmalade-Saracha dipping sauce for the coconut shrimp too! Just wonderful. Congrats on working hard and bringing excellent food to Millcreek!
The Pad See Ew with tofu was amazing. Very peppery, which I'm particularly fond of. The tofu also had an amazing texture. Highly recommend.
If there was one complaint I could have about ChaiYo it would be that every time I call I still feel the urge to say “Hi, I like to place a to go order” even though every order they make is to go.
The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is delicious, I’ve probably tried half their menu already and look forward to trying the rest.
Quick, affordable, authentic, delicious. How much more could you want from a meal? If you haven’t tried it yet you’re missing out.
We saw their sign on our drive through highland drive and decided to give it a try. It’s a hole in the wall kinda place, was a little hard to find at night in the dark parking lot but the food is absolutely the best.
We loved everything that we ordered and the flavors just perfect. We had drunken noodles, green curry, pineapple rice and some fried tofu… definitely getting more togo from here.
Coconut shrimp was good. Yellow curry tasted like melted coconut snow cone flavoring and super runny. Pad Thai was lacking flavor. Maybe an off night? I sure hope so.
We love Thai; it's by far our favorite cuisine. We have eaten at most of the Thai restaurants in the Salt Lake Valley.
ChaiYo is by far the worst Thai in Utah. Our yellow curry was runny like water and per my husband, tasted like melted gumballs. I tried it and there was zero essence of curry. It was sickly sweet.
The pad thai had zero flavor; it was like they forgot the sauce altogether.
With a 4.8 rating, I was not expecting to immediately throw away $50+ of food.
Best thai food nearby. I shopped around a bit before settling with chaiyo. Reasonable prices, big portions, and delicious. I normally get pad thai and drunken noodles, but also enjoyed their red/green curries, and pad see ew. One in ten times noodles were overcooked.
Really good neighborhood Thai place tucked away in the basement of an old strip mall. Way delish!
Love, Love, Love this place. Hands down, one of my fav's. Great service, and they always ask amount of spice you want, tailored to your likes. Shared the Massaman Curry with my husband, plenty for both of us. Generous portions and pleasant folk. In a small strip mall and down the stairs.
My years-long quest to find decent Thai food in Salt Lake may have finally come to an end! Most of the Thai food I’ve had in our area has been bland and disappointing, but ChaiYo’s food was flavorful, fresh, and cooked exactly right. And unlike most of the other places I’ve tried, they aren’t scared of a little spice. The prices are very reasonable and appropriate to the portions.
Its location is unassuming and kind of hidden (it took me a minute to realize that it was downstairs), but the food was really very good.
Good food
The food was wonderful. The service was even better. My car broke down in the parking lot. The employee working went out of their way to brighten our night by bringing out a free dessert while we waited for car help. An impromptu car date night with a wonderful coconut pudding. Definitely our favorite Thai restaurant in SLC now.
First time ordering from here and will be ordering again. We got the pad Thai and red curry. Both good. I liked it better than other Thai restaurants.
Heard a lot of good things about this place and wasn't in the mood to grocery shop or cook.. maybe it was the twelve drinks I had the night before, maybe it was just the typical Sunday night apathy. The boys were feeling Thai so I called in a couple orders of Chicken Pad Thai and some Pineapple Fried Rice.
Following the GPS I pulled into this fine business park and grab a spot. In front of me, Russian Massage Parlor SLC. Maybe we'll check that one out another day. I follow the signage downstairs where I approach the open doorway with a lonely folding table in the way. $50 for 4 dinners - not bad. Portion size was great, don't let the small boxes fool you, they compressed a lot of food into those things. Pad Thai was great and my buddy liked his Pineapple Fried Rice. Dope spot, don't hesitate to give it a shot.
This place is soooo good! You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu and the staff is super nice:)
There are only two places I'm going to get Thai food: My mom's house, and here. ChaiYo is unbelievable!
Terrific food. Wonderful people.
I freaking love this place! My only regret is that I JUST discovered it. The definition of a perfect hole-in-the-wall place—all of the food we’ve ordered tastes SO good and fresh, and the people are just the nicest! So many healthy delicious veggies in the fried rice. We’ll be coming here about once a week! Definitely a business you want to support.
Best thai food and best price for that food in SLC. Flavors are big and bold. Absolutely delish. Loved the pad kee mao!
Best Thai food I’ve had hands down! I order here multiple times a week. The green curry and drunken noodles are my favorite but you really can’t go wrong. Only complaint is inconsistent spice levels but it keeps it interesting
Not a great place. The meat is boiled to death and flavors just not there
for a good Thai restaurant. Was really hoping this place would be better.
What happened Chai Yo? You changed your mushrooms & don't add spice to your Tom Kha anymore?
Got another soup tonight and again no spices!!!!! Ordered an extra cucumber sauce for our curry puffs and didn't get that either. What a bummer. Y'all used to rock it!
Wow. This place is a gift from god. The food is authentic and delicious. Most dinner items can be made gluten free when specified except soups and curries.
Absolutely scrumptious! I ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp and the Pineapple Rice. Amazing! Plus the serving sizes are big enough for a small army. This place rocks!
Best Thai food in Utah. Will definitely eat again
Pretty good place with decent portions! The curry was very soupy though, wonder if they can make it thicker if I ask them to.
Absolutely delicious, we loved everything we got!
New to SLC and already found our go-to Thai restaurant. This place rocks!
Everything we ordered was fabulous. Generous portions, fresh veggies, great flavors. It's our favorite Thai food.
I've tried a handful of Thai places since moving here recently and this is by far the best. Search is over, customer for life!
🔥 food and really friendly
Wow, an absolute gem of the 2020 food evolution. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu, Drunken Noodles are the best around, Thom Kha is a little sweet but still delicious, love the fresh produce and delicious mushrooms. 🤤 😁
Like to take more orders then they can handle and waste people's time and money
Ordered pad Thai on ubereat today and I thought it was going to be amazing since they are very high-rated on google review. However, I got very disappointed with their dish. The flavor wasn’t right for me and it had the indescribable sour taste.
Wow this was unexpectedly great! Had the yellow curry- definitely recommend. It’s take out only but will be ordering takeout more often. Great service and amazing food! Thank you
I never leave reviews, but this place is so good I had no choice. This is probably my new favorite Thai in SLC. The servings are on the larger side, the prices are good, and they food is incredibly filling. They don’t overload you with noodles and are generous with the protein. But hands down... the best part is how good it tastes. I had a hard time not eating more when I was full. Definitely a new go-to for nights when we don’t want to cook.
Caught me off guard with how good the food is here. It's all to go but we usually just pick up and head to the park near by or home. Massaman is excellent. Won tons are great.
New in town and so glad this hidden gem is only 4 minutes away. Best Thai hands down I’ve ever had. Not even kidding. Read the other reviews, this place doesn’t have to go so hard on delivering deliciousness but they do. Spot on prices for super high quality food. If you want spicy food, go medium or higher. Medium is the perfect balance of not too hot and not too mild. The most enjoyable runny nose experience. 11/10 for Chaiyo, you’ll be having my support for the remainder of my time in SLC!
