Traditional Southeast Asian cooking with BYOB in a simple modern storefront setting.
We happened upon the BEST Thai restaurant, Thai Soon, in Richardson! Portion size was great, a tiny but quaint place facing Coit Rd, just south of Beltline. Actual address is 101 S. Coit Rd, Suite 401. We always start off with spring rolls. If you want oil free you need to specify steamed tofu, not fried. I had the Cashew Nut Entree with Brown rice that was heaping with fresh veggies ! I had a spice level of 3 and it was perfect for my spicy palate. Pat chose a Pad Thai with Veggies as well. Both of us agreed that it was the best Thai food we have ever had in Dallas (and we have frequented many)! We followed up with Purple Sticky Rice for dessert, and it was a 10/10! Not the right season for Mango Sticky Rice, so we tried something new, and cannot wait to return! Prices very reasonable as well! You won’t regret a visit to Thai Soon In Richardson.
03/19/24: lunch today was great! Even though it's pricier than some other places, food is very good here.
08:29: came back for lunch and had their Yam Woon sen Thai Salad with chicken and added shrimp. It was delicious, filling, and refreshing. It is not, unfortunately, on the lunch menu though. I also got the fried calamari and it was ok. Batter was not very flavorful but maybe it's supposed to be like that. Food is still very good here so it'll be in my rotation 😊
Came for lunch and entrees came with an egg roll and either a salad or cup of soup. Everyone enjoyed their food but it is pricey for lunch. They have a lot of options on their menu.
This is a small traditional place, as authentic as it gets, it’s very down to earth. Prices are extremely good, lunch/ dinner entrees can be $11/$14, and they have all the traditional Thai dishes and appetizers. The server was extremely nice, and food was fresh, tasty and good portioned. They have restrooms, and parking is available both at the front and the back. it’s on the smaller side they have about 10 tables, but I can fit small and large parties (up 6 or so) but the space is limited so I recommend you make a reservation.
The food was the worst. They were so stingy with ingredients. I paid extra $1 for tofu fresh spring rolls and they put thin little pieces instead of tofu chunk sticks..
I also ordered tofu for veggie fried rice. Only some pieces of carrots and onions and tofu. It wasn't definitely worth of $18. I have been to numbers of thai restaurants. Considering the price they ask, they are way too stingy with the ingredients. Fairly disappointing and never will go back.
Excellent Thai food. Well spiced, great seafood options, generous portions. A go-to for family style meals. Love the Tom Ka and Panang Salmon.
Best Thai food in the area by far. Also spectacular service.
Food was great mango chicken and tom yum.
The BEST red curry chicken! Always clean and fresh ingredients.
Nothing pretentious but amazing real Thai food.

The food here is amazing. I have been coming here since 2017. The owner is very passionate and prepares meals herself. I love it here and will always be a customer!
SA was di cai! The cashew chicken & fried rice was just like I had in Bangkok 1968. We will be back! I loved the Thai decorations also. Cop kum Mach!
Good service
Love Thai Soon! Try Shrimp Chan Noodle dish!!!
Food was very good. Minced chicken is most recommended.
Every dish had its own unique taste.
Service was good.
Cozy lil family run restaurant, food was plentiful & spot on w loads of parking, strip mall setting type, got there late in evening so reason for service rating, they were in closing mode but didn't rush me, will return!
I love this place. The house special is 🔥
Great little family owned restaurant top 10 Thai restaurants I been to.
Very tasty and great service!
We had lunch after shopping. We ordered the mango chicken, pad thai and pad woonsen. It was all delicious! I would highly recommend.
Like most thai restaurants, it is clean and cozy. Prices are a touch up there but you definitely get what you pay for. Food is solid.
Loved this place for over 20 years!

My wife and I agree that we had the best meal of our (32 years of) life here. Service was incredible, atmosphere was perfect, food was a work of art!
If you want excellent Thai food in the UTD area...this is it. Food and service are amazing here. I have loved everything I've tried here so far (ordered from them multiple times and never had a single complaint).

Best Thai food in Richardson! We've been going to family-owned Thai Soon for over 2 decades and they seem like family to us :-) . My special favorite is Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodle) and my wife loves the Red Curry but really anything on the menu is excellent!
Delicious, fresh and authentic
Excellent food. New favorite Thai place in Dallas
Thai soon? How about never again. Worst pad kee mow ever had. Threw away the noodles. Burnt and mushy. Must have been leftovers from the day before. Furious that I spent money here.
The food is the best we have had.
Good Thai food options. Place is small, they seem to do a lot of takeout. I had basil spicy chicken fried rice and it was good. Everyone enjoyed their food. Also it's BYOB!
I love their pad Thai and corn patties.
Food is great, staff are cool, but bathroom needs attention. Some tables are loose.
The food is very good. I got pineapple fried rice. Difficult to find good pineapple fried rice in dfw. But this is really good and the quantity is great portion size is very good. The price is more than $15. Kind of steep but I really want a good pineapple fried rice so I was willing to try it and I'm happy. Not much of an atmosphere. The staff is nice. I would come back to this place.
We were looking for a place for dinner before movie night and found this place 10 mins away from theater. Place was busy with couple of empty tables.
The lady in the front was busy scrambling food and other stuff to the tables . Took her 5 mins to seat us down event though there were empty tables
Took them sometime to get our water orders and food orders. Food took a while as well.
We ordered Pad Kee Mow with Chicken spice level 4 and Chan Noodles with Tofu spice level 5.
Both of them were served hot and tasted very delicious! Although I would level 5 for Pad kee mow next time.
Green curry with eggplant. Exactly as good as a decade ago!
One comes here for the food and it's terrific. Loved Pad Woon Sen.
What a hidden gem! We discovered this little hole in the wall place after asking a Dallas friend where we could find the best Thai food. Service was excellent, the place was spotlessly clean, and the food was phenomenal. I especially appreciated the owner checking with us during the meal to make sure all was well. I ordered the Spicy Thai Basil with chicken after sharing an order of spring rolls as an appetizer. My husband ordered the Mango Chicken. I loved mine more than his, but he preferred his over mine. We both agreed the quantity and quality of both dishes was great. This place is BYOB, so bring a bottle of wine. They offered wine glasses and a cork screw. The restaurant is family owned, so you might see (and hear) they’re very well behaved and cute three little ones. Give Thai Soon a try! You won’t be disappointed!
I go Thai Soon Restaurant. Food very good, service fast and nice. I like!
I have been going to Thai Soon for over 15 years and it remains my #1 FAVORITE Thai Restaurant in the DFW metroplex. My favorites are Pad Thai, Pinneapple Fried Rice, Pad See Eaw, Thai Sauce, and their soups are to die for. The Tom Kha and Tom Yum soups are heavenly! You must try!
I added some new pictures from our yummy lunch today. Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken, and Pad See Eaw with chicken. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!
Tom khi good
This is our favorite place in town for Thai, and we eat a lot of it. Don’t expect anything fancy., But do expect fresh ingredients and well prepared dishes. Make sure to try the corn patties. We’ve tried them in dozens of other restaurants, including quite a few in Thailand, and none are close. We’ve been coming here for more than 20 years, and they are consistent - Excellent food, solid service, family owned. Oh and a great value too. Large portions, for moderate prices. BYOB
Delicious every meal.
I love their soup but they put too many vegetables even in the Large Soup that you barely have any soup to drink lol ( less than half the container is actual soup )
Neighborhood Thai place. Unfussy with really good food and a family feel about it. I like it a lot, and it gets a nice mix of folks dining in and coming by for takeout. The food is why folks start to love Thai but better. Hearty portions of homemade classics and a very reasonable price.
Came here for lunch based on a recommendation from a friend of mine. We loved everything that we ordered and had. Very friendly staff with quick service
My favorite Thai! Incredibly delicious and great service. Highly recommended!
We went here based on good ratings. Food is excellent. Staff is nice. Our service was quick because we were the only ones here at the time (early dinner). The restaurant itself is in need of some updates, but if atmosphere isn't your concern the food is worth it.
This place is phenomenal and I stop by almost every single week. I’ve had several of their dishes, including Pad See Ew and Pad Thai, and all have been great!
However, their Pad Woon Sen is unparalleled and is what keeps me coming back week after week! A 4 or 5 spice level is very reasonable and the chicken and veggies balance together perfectly with the glass noodles.
Although the best part of Thai Soon isn’t the great food or the pun in their name - it’s the people! They’re the kindest folks and can brighten up any day. Plus, Irene pretty much knows me by voice at this point.
I really can’t recommend them enough!
This place deserves extra stars IMHO. Thai green curry with chicken, sided with brown rice was just what the doctor ordered. Lots of veggies, perfectly spiced and presented. Healthy portion; most other Thai places charge the same but leave me hungry. Will be back to try the rest of the menu.
After moving to Richardson/N.Dallas several weeks ago, we’ve been searching for our “Thai Restaurant of Choice”. We definitely found it tonight. Can’t wait to go back.
Great place if you like freshly made Thai food. Tom Kha soup and red curry are my favorite but the noodles are delicious too.
Great atmosphere, service and food. Try the Red Curry Fried Rice.
I live in the area and just recently dicovered this small diamond in the rough. I havent explored the full menu. My rule of thumb has been, if a restaurant can nail their fried rice...then you have my attention. I have ordered their shrimp fried rice with extra egg and level 5 spice...2 times this week. Absolutely tasty. I drive by this place everyday on my way home from work...I may need to take a differwnt route...too tempting.
This is my goto spot when I am in Dallas. Love it
This place never disappoints. I used to frequent this establishment back during my college years and recently went back twice for a couple of group dinners. The food is great and the service is excellent. You might just need to call ahead of time to reserve a table if you're gonna be dining in because the place is small and there can be a waiting time if you go during busy hours.
Close early every night, their choice to make, but change the times on your website if you really close at 845.
One if my favorite places to eat when in Dallas
The best Thai food I ever had ❤️ we are driving 40 minutes one-way from prosper every week!
Tuesday night, Valentine's Day: The place was so busy, and they had only one person up front and she was not very fast. Luckily for the restaurant, the customers were very, very patient, especially the ones who had to go orders. Seems like they have a pickup window, but the server never saw the person at the window and they had to come into the restaurant. For awhile, there was quite a line.
My lunch came with a free cup of soup and a spring roll. Or you can choose salad of you don't want soup. That complimentary tom kha soup was very tasty, perfect balance of sweet, savory and sour. Spring roll is good enough but nothing special. I ordered calamari and chicken pad thai. Pad thai was properly seasoned but the chicken was dried and hard/chewy. Calamari was too greasy for me. Price is reasonable, not overpriced. Staff were very nice, courteus and patience. I gave 4 stars out of 5.
Lunch today, salad w/peanut sauce tasty and crunchy, spring roll crunchy and flavorful. Had Chicken Pad Kee Mow very tasty, not too salty Sadly not sure if it is supply issue or nature of owners but no pork or beef in any dishes. Black rice pudding for dessert outstanding.
Been eating at Thai Soon since their location on Greenville Ave. Excellent authentic delicious Thai food done to perfection. Large servings. Service is always excellent. And even better, in my hood now.
Excellent food. Nice portions, generous amounts of seafood in the dishes we had. Everything had excellent flavors
La comida está muy deliciosa 😋
haven't been able to get by here since changed jobs 6 years ago - Wed special chicken padti and coconut soup - would pay extra for that if I was in range now - hope these guys are still open .
Been eating here for many years, such a good spot for Thai food.
Stopped by to get a to-go lunch. It was a cute little place with good prices. The service was very nice. It had a decent menu. I got the Tom Kha soup to go with a side of rice noodles to go. I did enjoy the range of proteins they had to pick from. You do not see scallops very often. The food came out quick and was hot. It was still very warm by the time I got home. Tasted very nice.
Love the food here. Made fresh to your degree of spiciness. Always a good business crowd.
A lovely spot with amazing food! Everything is made to order and it shows. Absolutely delicious! Very friendly staff too!
Great food with perfect blend of spice and flavor! Pineapple fried rice was too good. Mango sticky was amazing. Nice Customer service too!
Ordered a Tom Yum soup and Pad See Ewe via Uber Eats delivery. Once it arrived and the soup was opened up, we were taken aback by its unusual appearance. It looked like a tub of raw vegetables floating in a slightly murky water, not the reddish opaque broth that is to be expected in tom yum soup. The broth tasted like watered down pickle juice, with very little flavor. It was briney, salty, and bland, with absolutely no spice. The vegetables were bland and undercooked with the same bland pickle flavor. Whatever this was, it wasn't like any tom yum soup I've tried.
Thankfully, the pad see ew was tasty if not lacking in spice as well. A little Sriracha made it quite tasty, and it ultimately saved the meal.
Unfortunately, their version of tom yum has left a bad taste in my mouth both literally and figuratively. I don't leave reviews often but I felt the need to do so tonight. The presentation and flavor of this "soup" was so bizarre and unpleasant I felt the need to warn people about ordering it. This was our first time trying Thai Soon Restaurant, and it may also be our last.

First time here, small place but I loved it! I had the red curry chicken. Spicy level 3. Not even spicy at all but it was delicious!
amazing people, lovely food with loads of flavor! Highly recommend!!
We have been coming here for years now for the excellent food food. We have tried many different dishes and all have been great.
Pleasant staff. Excellent Pad Ki Mai
Best Thai in Richardson, also has the distinction of being locally owned and operated for a loooooong time. My personal favorite dish is the Massamum Curry, but I usually just pick something random here and it’s always spot on.
The food smells and looks professional and the taste is out of this world. I have never tasted so much flavor in one dish. Simply delicious!
Traveled from Houston TX and so happy I found this hidden gem in close proximity to surrounding hotels in Dallas Park Central.
1. Lovely atmosphere
2. Excellent customer service
3. The food quality and portions 🤤
4. It was so good I went back 4hours later and ordered more food for the road trip home. I couldn't stop thinking about it when we finished lunch and went back to our business training.
5. It was not crowded, easy to park wooden polished tables clean.
6. Vegan friendly options, they worked with us and removed eggs 🥚 from rice 🍚 😋. They are very flexible with substitutions.
7. Told me the history of the art I was admiring.
8. Ordred crispy spring rolls, fried rice with onions and Eggplant 🍛 curry no rice extra eggplant no 🥕. That food was BAE 🥳
(Sorry no pics of food posted a reel of the food on ig @sirentherocker , too busy eating and enjoying it.
Delicious. Great food for Thai. Highly recommended
Very good food. My soup and tea were so hot. Perfecto, muy bien.
EXCELLENT! Omg. So good. Red curry with tofu. The vegetables are the star here. Cabbage and eggplant in addition to the carrots bamboo shoots zucchini and bell peppers. Omg. The spicy level of 4 is a delightful hit without being overpowering. In the lunch you get a fried roll and soup/salad. I got the soup. It’s all top notch. Got this on my way home from physical therapy and now I’m wishing I had found this gem when I started pt. A real treat. Amazing.
Love this place! Always great food & service 😋 👌 👍
I live 2 hrs away from Dallas and I'm extremely grateful to have found the perfect wide noodle dishes. It's absolutely awesome!
Everything we ordered here stated very good and fresh. When we are in the Dallas area, we are definitely coming back
I have been coming to this restaurant for more than a decade now and it has never disappointed!! Service is excellent, super friendly faces and helpful. Family own.. please support small rest.
Very satisfying "hole-in-the-wall" neighborhood Thai joint for pick-up / delivery. Staff is kind & friendly. Menu selection / portion sizes are good. Overall, the menu items I tried were delicious and prepared with care / attention.
The Thai Curry recipes are unique compared to other restaurants (all Thai restaurants specialize their curry recipes to stand out from others). I particularly like the amount of vegetables given in the Green Curry -- a fresh, wide variety of vegetables (with the option to add more for $2). However, the stock is less thick / creamy compared to other places. This might be due to the amount of vegetables or less coconut milk.
The Pad Wood Sen is the healthiest noodle dish. It consists of thin glass noodles with a lot of fresh vegetables. More dry, less oily. Delicious.
Unfortunately, I forgot how the Tom Kha soup tastes (and whether it's thick & creamy or not).
Good appetizer selection & taste.
My husband and I ordered takeout: yellow curry with tofu and the orange chicken dish.
Both dishes were mostly liquid and veggies. Little bits of tofu in my curry dish and little vegetables.
The orange chicken is a tub of carrots 🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕 swimming in brown sauce and a few bites of chicken (the chicken is NOT fried, which is weird).
My husband picked out the chicken bits out of his dish, and it was literally such a small amount that looked pathetic on his plate.
We just threw out the heavy tub of carrots in sauce! 🤮
I assume the restaurant is trying to save money by filling up their orders with a ton of vegetables and liquid then throwing in a few bits of protein?
This was our first time eating from this restaurant and, honestly, we won’t be ordering again. We were excited to try this place out based on all the great reviews! Unfortunately, it’s probably a case of manipulating the algorithm to show the rave reviews only maybe?
If you’re looking to eat your fill of veggies in sauce, then this is your place!!!
When I arrived half an hour before closing time, I was standing in front of the door looking at their menu, and the girl inside looks right at me and turns off the open sign. Wow, nevermind then 🙄.
Love this quaint Thai restaurant. I've had everything on the menu at least 2-3 times over the years but am just now writing a review.
Food is so authentic and full of depth, texture and is exciting to eat. We love real Thai food and there are very few places in DFW that make it properly. Portions are generous, service is friendly and accommodating, and they aim to please. It's family owned and has been around since the 80's!
On this visit we ordered spicy eggplant with shrimp, minced chicken Thai basil, and tom ka seafood. Their tom ka and tom yum are the best in DFW! Perfect balance of flavors wheres most other places it's too salty, too sour or lacks depth.
I've honestly never had anything bad on the menu. Good idea to read the description of the food or ask questions if you need clarification or are not very familiar with Thai cuisine. Ex: their orange chicken is NOT going to taste or look like Chinese orange chicken. But I guess some people think all Asians have the same dishes 🤦♀️
I ordered two items! Repeated the order and they STILL failed to make my second order and said they ran out even though it took them 40 MINUTES to make the ONE order 😑
I ordered fried calamari
and orange chicken, there is nothing but chunks of carrots 🥕 🥕 🥕 🥕 🥕 🥕. Chicken is not even dip fried and fried calamari is squid. I all throw it away.
Excelente 👌
Their food is always so good here. I love it.
This is by far one of my favorite restaurants. At this point the owner recognizes me by name and order. They are so thoughtful, cook with love and give personalized customer service. I highly recommend trying Thai Soon!
The Best food 😋
The food and service was amazing. The green curry shrimp was full of flavor.
Authentic dishes well prepared, and good service!
Picked up some food after a movie. First time here. Surprised that they didn't serve beef or pork. Food was ok. My first entree was Pad Thai was sweeter than what get back home. Second entree was a red chicken curry, they give you a large portion with lots of veggies and average amount of meat.
I love this restaurant! The food is always fresh and flavorful. It veggies are cooked but still crisp. The chicken is white meat, but tender and flavorful. They take such care when packing your to-go order. The soup is out in a sealed container and wrapped in a bag. The entrees are packed with the rice separately so it doesn’t get soggy. I really appreciate these little “extras” to keep my food fresh (and not on the floor of my car).
My favorites are the spicy chicken basil and the chicken with Thai sauce.
Horrible.
quite disappointed! got PAD KEE MOW. flat noodle was little bits of mush instead of nice bity flat rice noodle.
sauce was a puddle of oil. at the bottom. taste was flat. a bummer to pay for this but i have had worse this just was way off the mark. come on. put a little effort in please
Love this place! The service, the food even the water tastes different here 😋
I ordered the mango chicken special for the entree which was amazing! I ordered spice level 2 which wasn't spicy at all, but maybe she went easy on me because I'm white lol. I also got the corn patties because I've been wanting to try them from a Thai place and loved those too. Had leftovers from the lunch portion
Good food at a great price! Really nice people
Amazing food! Great service!
best thai place in texas. possibly ever lol! amazing customer service and perfect food! family owned and authentic. me and my partner go here for every special date night. also beautifully decorated inside very comfy. 10000/5 !!! try the red curry ! 😋
We love this place. The food is always great.
Fantastic food. I eat here regularly. Support small business during the pandemic and enjoy Thai food from Thai Soon!
My Boyfriend and I love this place, food is delicious, authentic and they are always so kind. Our absolute favorite its the Chicken fried rice extra spicy 🔥
Thai Soon its a great place to eat. Its clean and spacious. The food 😋 is delicious. The service was excellent, they even cater to my 6 year girl. They saw her sad and offer a free egg roll and some colors for her. I Definitely recommended and will come again.
The food is delicious and the restaurant staff is very courteous. Great value for the amount of food you are given. The foods have really great flavors.
In the years my wife and I have been patrons of Thai Soon, they've always exceeded our expectations. The staff is friendly and the food is fantastic. Very accurate with to-go and pickup orders as well.
Delicious Thai food! 😻👍🏼
I was very surprised when they had such a great rating. I had high expectations. But honestly it was just ok. Not bad, but not great. I wouldn’t go out of my way to return... and why is it so hard to have fountain drinks?? They needed to provide a dish to eat my curry on. It was awkward to just dump the rice on the dish. and the sauce was all used up well before I got through the vegetables.
I was surprised they didn’t offer beef and pork.
Excellent dishes with large portions.
Great Thai meals, generous portions, and a relaxing atmosphere with faint background music ... good service & overall an enjoyable experience....
(and good prices too) 8/31/2020
Stupendous
Best small, crispy egg rolls anywhere!
Little expensive, great taste Nd massive portions. Repeat customer and they open late
Great food all the time
I always get the flat noodles. They are amazing!! The staff is always so nice!! Cant wait to go back!
Love going here for lunch, always delicious and a great value. If you are a Thai Food fan you will not be disappointed.
I brought my boyfriend here last night for his birthday. Thai is his favorite cuisine and all the places we have gone so far have just not been as authentic as he prefers. From the moment the yellow curry soup was placed on the table, he knew this place was legit. The food was amazing, service was super personable, and everything was so FRESH! We are going back this weekend because we cannot wait to taste everything again.
We come here for takeout twice a week. The prices can’t be beat— one entree for $12 feeds two people easily. So thankful to have this place in our backyard!
Hands down the best place to eat Thai food. The interior is exactly the way I like it, warm color scheme and cafe type vibes, and I've never had a dish there that I've disliked. I recommend this restaurant all the time and Everytime I do, I crave their Pad Kee Mow.
We are never disappointed with the food
We love Thai Soon. The food is always delicious! However, that being said, we feel their standards for service has declined significantly. The place appeared scattered and just not polished any longer. For a Saturday night dinmer, the owner's young children should not be occupying the table next to us with noisy devices and toys. At one point, the little boy opened the cooler door and placed his face against the glass...while the mother was on her phone at the "kids table". Our two food dishescame out 10 minutes apart. And they are no longer BYOB. We will consider carry out if the place continues to appear chaotic or we will find another regular Thai restaurant nearby.
Low-key thai food in a locally popular international (global) plaza. Interior helps compensate for exterior, but whenever you come to a place in this setting its typically for the food; which this place absolutely satisfies 👍
Amazing BYOB Thai spot. Great value with the price:portion ratio. Food is delicious and flavorful. Spice level is nice and they provide good options.
