Familiar Thai entrees are offered at this casual, compact establishment with a busy lunch scene.
I love it here! Food is tasty and affordable! Satisfy your cravings without breaking the bank! There are so many good food to try so there is a good reason to come back from time to time! Crispy noodles or chow mien is like a comfort food for me. Green tea drink is surprisingly sweet! I am used to drink it without sugar but this one turned out great! Perfect for Summer days to beat the heat. Will definitely check my attendance back there!
These are my opinions on Thai Pepper:
The Good 👍
- The best Pad Thai in a 300 mile radius
- Excellent curry, fried rice, and appetizers
- Take out available
- Near campus
The Bad 👎
- Long wait times
- Crowded seating area
- Only open on weekdays
- Sometimes closed for extended periods of time
- Have to wait in line to pay when you leave
- $10 card minimum
There's no doubt Thai Pepper has amazing food, and if the food was all that matters this review would be five stars. Unfortunately I typically have to wait ~15 minutes to have a server bring the menu when dining in if they are busy, and they are always busy because they are hardly ever open. I love the food but I find that often when I plan to get lunch/dinner there with someone that we arrive and they are either closed or too full for the number of people in our group, which has led to annoying situations. Overall the cost of the food is reasonable and I would recommend coming here to anyone, but I find myself coming less and less because the hassle isn't really worth it.
Update: They renovated the interior, which is nice, but I waited for 15 minutes standing awkwardly by myself and still didn't get a seat 🙄
Update 2: I got there and they closed for the evening, likely just to spite me. Well played Thai Pepper, until next time (maybe never since I graduate soon)
Update 3: bumping to 4 stars, I went back, find me a better pad Thai I dare you
We got food to go. Food and Tom Yum soup tasted great. Green Curry and Pad Thai were delicious.
Restaurant was closing when we went in and there were bunch of people waiting to pick up their orders.
Only issue I would have is the hours. Wish they extended it till 9.
Best pad thai in Lubbock? I think so! Wife said the fried rice was best in town too. AND we happened upon them when they had mango sticky rice! Being a very popular, small, locally owned business, you expect a wait. Staff was friendly. Food was flavorful. Space was nice and clean! The awards displayed on the wall speak for themselves. Thai Pepper is ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Honestly the best tasting food out here! We just tried their new Crispy Pad Thai, now we can’t go back! The taste of the chicken is phenomenal! Come out here and try it out.
Great food and staff was nice. Wasn’t too crowded at 1pm on 7/11 and we sat right away. We were helped fairly quickly and it didn’t take too long for the food. Pad Thai was great and I enjoyed the Thai Iced Tea. Little disappointed at the size based on the price of the tea, but t was really good. I’d go back.
Not that spicy if you really like spicy and double check your bags if you get take out, they are as bad as McDonald’s .
Good Thai food. I'd recommend going spicier than not if you like spicy.
Had not eaten here since the death of previous owner. I have to say it was delicious ( chicken fried rice) egg rolls would be better done in different wrap.
Food was ok. 3 tables with 4 people each were served their food before our to go order of 2 meals. First and last visit.
Food was decent but you would get better service at Popeye’s.
Worst pad Thai noodles ever I have.
Great food near TT campus. Inexpensive, with mom and pop atmosphere.
Curries are the best ever. Tea is great!
Love the food and the service is unmatched!
Honestly the best tasting food out here! We just tried their new Crispy Pad Thai, now we can’t go back! The taste of the chicken is phenomenal! Come out here and try it out.

I’ve loved this place for many years!! Great service & excellent food!!
Had a horrible experience here crazy how you can’t order on the phone then go in and eat they should address that over the phone they even refused us to eat inside even though there was like 5-6 open tables and didn’t help that all family worked there Rebecca and her son argued with us and was threatening. The food is good but everytime we have gone here before they are alllllways rude never welcoming they need better people 😡😡
2nd place I've found in Lubbock with interesting and good food AND friendly staff. It's got some Indian and Thai flare. I recommend 😋!
Great food and service. Love this place, just a little too small for the service they provide.
This post is a little late and my pictures were deleted… This place was one of the best Thai places I have been to!! I’m glad we took the chance and stopped. The food was absolutely Delicious, everything we ordered tasted fresh the shrimp coconut curry was Amazing! Cheese wantons and pork dumplings perfect appetizers! The Thai Tea was something I’ve never tried but will order again when we go back!! The staff were very helpful and amazing!!! Thank you for the experience..
Used to be much better taste at the old ownership.
Very good. Paddy excellent by
Great food
Had been coming here for more than 10 years. Recently they have gone way down on food quality. The staff there now are down right rude to the point where my group just decided to leave mid order. Will only go to Mam Thai restaurant now (to me it’s the old Thai Pepper). Last three experiences at this place have been bad or less than normal. Beware before you go here thinking it will be like before they reopened!!!
Been going here for awhile for the food that it is its pretty expensive but it was good and close to tech campus. My main problems with this place is the guy that either manages or owns the store he would always watch over the shoulder of the person taking ur payment and would say “did they tip” and when himself would check me out he’d just ask straight up “how much do u want to tip” and not let u fill it out yourself. just rude behavior in front of your customers and it wasn’t like I was sitting in the restaurant ordering a full course meal I’d call in a pick up order which personally doesn’t call for a 20% tip. But my final straw was about a week or 2 ago when I had picked up a chicken pad tai. Once I got home to eat the food after taking my first bite I realized there was bones in my food not just one but many bones would not recommend this place Bangkok Thai is way way better and reasonably priced. (This is way after I posted now 700+ views and some reactions still have not yet been reached out by management very bad service will never go again )
Great food & great service!
Super good food! Love the egg rolls and hot chicken fried rice
Used to be the best in town then it was sold. Now the food isn’t good and the service is bad with rude staff. I will not be back. If you are looking for what this place used to be try Mam Thai on 66th and Milwaukee, it’s amazing.
I had a great experience at Thai Pepper, I ordered the Thai tea, beef noodle soup, and the rice custard, every item scratched my Thai food itch.
Love the Pad Thai, best in Lubbock. Love the owners. It is a Lubbock treasure and needs to be tried by every one
They were rude to me because I was wearing Texas Tech University gear, and they wouldnt let me set at a table, even though i have had 4 knee surgeries and needed to sit, because they were saving it for a group that came in after us, even though there are no reservations. They even shouted out loud in public to purposefully embarrass me infront of a large crowd. Then when I called to speak to the manager about it, they hung up on me. I will NEVER eat there ever. Rudest, most biased, and discriminatory place I ever visited. A place like this should never exist. It will be my mission in life now to spread the word of my experience there.
The cashier apparently was having a bad day...had the BBQ CHICKEN was dry almost choked on it.. But they were kind enough to refund me... Always smile 😁 when greeting your customers... Customers are your life line..
The service was alright. Wait time was 40 min which I was fine with because of how hyped up this place was to me. I was expecting really good food. I ordered the (thai BBQ) had to take it home because tables were all taken and it did look good but when I took the first bite that was the most dry chicken I’ve had from a restaurant 🤦🏽♂️. The chicken itself was hard to chew and swallow it was so dry so for the price and the food def needs to be reevaluated because that just don’t add up maybe I needs try something different but yeah
Very mid place. Even the beef green pepper dish wasn’t anything crazy that would make me separate it from any other decent place in Lubbock
Food was good, customer service was terrible. Will not be going back, multiple employees had an attitude when asked questions. I'll continue to stick with Bangkok Thai & Mams.
Good food and great service.
Food was very delicious; service was quick and friendly. Will definitely be back next time in Lubbock!
If I could I would give 0 stars. Horrible customer service. Rude people working, children working. Apparently they shut their phones down at 7, refuse to answer for online orders, and don’t let you walk in to order to go past 7:15. Horrible horrible service. If you don’t want to serve people past a certain time, then close earlier. Don’t have your website and signs say open til a certain time and refuse to serve people.
I tried shrimp pad thai with extra tofu and it was really delicious. Will try other menu items next time I come!
Some of the best Thai food in town, but they have removed themselves from all delivery apps for whatever reason. Thai Pepper is not exactly operated in the most accessible location
everything here is great… except for the rude girl in the dallas cowboys jersey.
The curry was delicious however if I’m paying $17 for pineapple shrimp curry I feel like there should be more involved than literally just pineapple and shrimp. I ordered Togo and asked for chicken and kept trying to call the store as I wanted chicken instead of shrimp and no one would answer the phone?.. and again for $17 y’all can’t afford to put bamboo shoots or broccoli or anything else?… delicious but over priced for what I got…
the food is soooo good and every employee is always so kind🤍🤍definitely recommend!
Rude bus boy/server. Hispanic gentleman with Tech sweater and hat. Extremely unprofessional. Curry was decent, spicy chicken was underwhelming and lacked spice. Will not return, I choose to do business with folks who provide good customer service or at least aren't flat-out angry and miserable.
For some reason, this place is closed on Wednesdays at 5:00 PM, I’m not sure when it’s open but don’t trust the opening times on google and their restaurant.
Such a lovely place! A terrific change of pace in Lubbock!
I heard so many great things about this place and attempted to call in an order. The first time I was told to hold on then was hung up on a minute later. I then called back a second time and they picked up the phone and immediately hung up, I guess they didn’t want my business.
Best place with great food always cooked just right with right amount of food. I always tell people to go to eat there. I'm from out of town so when I to Lubbock I always eat there.
Fantastic food options here, very quick service, you have to try everything on the menu. it's worth it.
Place isn't the same
Started calling for an order at 220, no answer for 15 minutes so I drove there to order In person, you were closed and it wasn’t even 3 yet 😹 that restaurant isn’t worth begging you for food , I’ll go elsewhere
Got takeout from here, the food was SO good! Best cheese wontons I've had, and the little dipping sauce they provide with them (and the chips) is just perfect. Service was fast and friendly, and the dining area was very clean and nicely decorated. 10/10!!
awesome food
Called before closing. NO ANSWER.
Greatest Thai food ever. I just want to say I love you guys and you have changed my life and tastebuds for the better. Go here if you love yourself

Another great lunch at Thai Pepper!
Try their yellow curry chicken soup, order it 'medium spicy- they get it
Good luck getting treated like a human here. There is an African American cashier who screams at you if you sit down before ordering. We had been driving for hours, came in and as the wife, I went to sit and my husband went to order. We are seniors. The woman walked to our table yelling at us to get a number and order before sitting. It felt like we were in Paris with a rude staff and lots of “rules”. No, it’s just Lubbock. We got up and left. We are not going back there. There were several open tables.
We came here for lunch. My husband ordered spicy shrimp which he said was good. I ordered the Green curry and I was confused about my food. I have never seen a watery curry. It said it’s curry but it doesn’t taste like curry. I have eaten at numerous Thai restaurants and have eaten red, green, panang, and other kinds of curry and my food didn’t taste anything like it. We also ordered the Seafood Tom Yum soup, a soup my husband and I always order whenever we eat at any thai restaurant. Their soup tastes ok, but the shrimp and the squid has an aftertaste. It’s like it has been placed in and out of the fridge many times before it was finally cooked. It did not taste fresh. The taste is not good at all. The fried wontons were good with good sauce. I don’t consider this place as an authentic thai food place. Also, the set up is like a fastfood restaurant . You have to come up to the counter and look at the menu board to order. My husband asked if it’s ok to get a menu and get a table while we decide what to order. We were told “No. You can’t get a table unless you have ordered and are given a number. You can sit over there (referring to a short bench across the counter).” I didn’t like that tone as I felt like a child. I am there to eat food and I didn’t understand why i can’t look at the menu and decide what to order at a table. One good thing I like about this place is it is convenient and there is ample parking. I will never come back here again.
Ordered 2 pad Thai and 2 shrimp fried rice. Waited a half hour for the food to be made for take out. The man working at the counter (I'm assuming the manager or owner) was loudly berating a young employee in front of everyone. She was visibly uncomfortable around him and the way he kept looking at his young female employees made me feel sick to my stomach. The food was also beyond sub-par for the price. I paid $57 for 4 plates. The food was flavorless, dry, and all around awful. Given the creepy manager, the sad looks on the other employees face, the long wait, the awful food, and the price, I will not be returning. I recommend you save your money and eat at any of the other area restaraunts. Awful experience.
Loved this place! If I lived in Lubbock, I would be a regular. The food was worth every penny. The service was fast and the staff were polite and professional.
Food is great people are awsome . But I can never get through on the phone to place a pick up. Have to drive 20 min to wait half an hour for food. Makes eating here a challenge.
The new owner is amazing. Food is always delicious and consistant. Try the Thai Tea, its great!!
The food is pretty good as usual. In general, I order to go, and the staff asked me to leave tips. ???
The food is delicious and the staff is absolutely amazing. 10/10
Probably only Thai restaurant where you can request not to add fish sauce
It's a small place, and kind of lean in decorations. Not the kind of place to hang out at, but the food is good and the portion size is big.
Best Thai in Lubbock hands down!
This place so awesome, I always get the pork fried rice and the veggies egg rolls, they never disappoint, nice and hot just like I like it
Absolutely delicious food, I had the pad Thai it’s was really good!! I definitely recommend this place.
The good: the atmosphere is nice. The location is good. The people are nice. The flavor of the curry was good. The hot and sour soup was different but good.
The bad: wontons wayyyy over cooked. The curry has gigantic chunks of potato. Smaller slices are needed. And the curry needs some veggies. Egg plant. Green beans. Something. It's just lacking. That and it is way too watery. The flavor is there but needs to be more creamy.
This place has potential. But needs the finishing touches. Until then. It's sub par.
Love it here! Food is amazing, short wait to get the food. Staff is really nice and friendly. Would recommend it to anyone who wants authentic Thai/Asian food! My favorite is the beef pad thai with Thai tea. Great comfort food!
I just got married this weekend, and we had a difficult time finding a place to do a rehearsal dinner. My mother had the bright idea to ask Thai Pepper. It was an instant hit! The service was of the highest quality and the staff on board were very welcoming and accommodating! As a restaurant and business I recommend Thai Pepper for anyone who likes fresh/detailed oriented food! All my cousins loved the curry and pad thai, thai tea, and mango sticky rice! God bless! - Strength, Faith, and Honor
This place is amazing! The service is OUTSTANDING and the employees and ownership genuinely care about the customer experience. I’m hooked and always will be! Thank you to Thai pepper for providing Lubbock with a great place for food with service that stands out!!
Never eaten there before. Sure was awesome my wife ordered for me so I can't really say what it was but sure was awesome. Keep up the great work will be back
Well worth it! The Mango Sticky Rice is amazing!
Amazing tasting and hot and fresh.
Finally got to try the food here. I had the combination pad Thai and it was pretty good. The service was great too. The only downside was the limited seating. We had to wait for a table, but definitely worth the wait.
The food was excellent and authentic, the staff was very friendly, everything was clean and inviting
Tonight, we tried Thai Pepper for the first time since it’s changed owners…we’ve been hesitant to try it because, as regulars for decades, we were unsure if the quality and taste would be the same. Let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint! All of our dishes were the same flavors we’ve ordered for years. The biggest surprise was the staff…each and every staff member was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Despite coming in less than an hour before closing, we received possibly the best service we’ve had in Lubbock. Keep up the good work, Thai Pepper; we are so happy you’re here!
Absolutely love the food!
Today was my first visit to Thai Pepper! I have lived in Lubbock eleven years. I didn't know it existed. So now I do. Everything was so delicious. I was stuffed by the time I finished. I was not able to try the sticky rice for dessert. That's why I will be going back. Well, that's one reason I will be back.
Keeps getting worse. Staff is rude. Was told to wait for table and was first Line and then another lady said we had to go to back of line to order first and wait longer. Poor communication will never return.
Cool people in there but they some how 2 times out of 4 mess up my order when I go
This place was pretty good. I got the pad thai and it was alright (needed more veggies) but I’m sure they have other stuff on the menu that’s better, will come back here.
Love them so sweet people
First time to try this place. Never in a million years would I expected tomatoes in fried rice. I'll just stick to Chinese fried rice. Do to allergy Spent 40 bucks on food I can't eat. Nothing is listed on the menu
I really had a first time bad experience here, and it was worth mentioning. Staff was not as polite, and food was not a home rim like us always seemed to have been.
I am a big fan of Thai food and I tried dozens of restaurants in US. This ranks in the bottom 10%. I gave them three chances to impress me. Today was Pad Kee Mao: oversalted noodles with a dull taste... nothing like a real Pad Kee Mao should taste. Today was the last time I visited.
Food is the best Thai in town. People appear to genuinely care about being there. It’s a little more expensive than what I’d like, but so is everything else in America now. I will keep eating there.
Love the food and the employees are so happy 😃
Best in town
I had the Pad Kee Mao. Overall it was good. I would have preferred mine to have more Thai Basil in it than what it had. Very popular place over the noon hour. All the tables were full with many people waiting on to-go. I waited for probably 45min for dine-in. Worth a stop if you have the time.
You can’t go wrong with Thai Pepper. Traveled around the country and the world but Thai Pepper never falls behind anyone. If you love Thai food or even if you don’t you’ll end up loving the place! I can say with confidence I’ll be able to take even the person with the pickiest preferences and make them love Thai Pepper! The beef noodle soup is my personal favorite it is ridiculously good!!
This place is pretty dog gone good. Ordered the yellow chicken curry. It was well prepared, presented, and spiced. Good overall experience. When I say it's darn good I mean compared to places nationally. This place would even do well on the west coast -- where's there is a decent Asian restaurant on nearly every block. I'll definitely go back again the next time I'm in Lubbock. Definitely recommend.
Amazing food! Wish More students knew about this gem.
Great customer service and amazing food!!
Incredible
Big shout to the front restaurant crew. Just dined here and from placing the order for both appetizers and entrees to leaving in 45minutes. Fresh, extremely well seasoned and accompanying sauces did justice to a Fabulous mid week supper. In 45minutes we counted 9 tables and over 14 takeous as well as the front restaurant crew attending to a takeout customer who fell ill whilst waiting for her order. The staff were fantastic, made sure she was OK and called EMServices to ensure she was OK. Congratulations to you all!!
Well I know everyone love this place so I doubt this review will matter. I ordered pick up today. The food looks so good but alas it was way too spicy. I couldn’t get through to order to go so I went over. Waited 45 minutes for my order. I ordered mild but it’s definitely not mild. It was too much trouble to go back. There are much better places that have better service.
This place is always Delicious, Great food and Great staff
Best Thai food I've ever had! Very authentic and very delicious!
OMG, sooo good! I’m a Thai food fanatic and this place blew me away. it’s super simple inside but really really good food. I highly recommend it.
Closes at 7:20 which is stupid. Otherwise I would've given it five stars. food is good
Great small restaurant. The service is quick and attentive and the food is excellent with a good variety, but not a huge menu.
Favorite thai food in lubbock but can you put the phone on the hook so we can call in?
Best Thai food in Lubbock. Went during lunch this time. Hard to find a table, but able to order to go fairly quickly.
Good fast l ordered and it was done in 20 minutes mind you its wasn't busy but I did order 6 items still fast would come again
Still my favorite place for Pad Thai. I've tried Pad Thai at all the local places and throughout Texas and still compare it to this place.
My favorite restaurant in Lubbock. Always pretty busy but worth the wait. Food portions are generous and enough for at least two meals.
This place was amazing!!!! - The food was delicious and the portions were big. We came from another state and have been looking for a really good Thai place for almost a year and a half. We were happy to find this place it will be our go-to Thai place from now on!!
They open at 11 so Small suggestion, If you don't get here before noon you're probably not going to a table. So maybe get it to go....as there was a line out the door after 11:30. This shows us this is the best place in town.
The staff was so friendly and accommodating even though they were swamped. Thank you we'll be back again, the food was amazing, the place was clean, and loved everything about it.
Great food, big portions, and a great server as well. I'd suggest either getting there early, or ordering your food to go. The place gets very busy by noon, and large parties will be waiting for a long time if they want to sit together. There are only 9 tables, seating 4 ppl each.
Portions are enough to share, at least with the pad thai and yellow curry. Overall the best Thai place we've found in Lubbock.
Very good Pad Thai
One of my favorite places to eat. Medium spice is the only way to go! make sure you get the beef egg rolls!! There usually is a long line and expect a decent wait time but it is so worth it!
The wait was long the tables were dirty during the time we were waiting I seen the bigger man take a plate off a table where 2 women were eating and one woman barely touched her plate he took it back to the kitchen instead of placing it in the gray bun with the rest of the food to dispose of! I think it's pricey for the portion of the meal we chose.
Probably best thai food in Lubbock
The food was very bad. I was starving and i still thoight my meal was terrible. I was surprised to see so many reviews complement taste of food. I waited over an hour for one small pad Thai beef entre. Ridiculous.
I had the Pad Thai... it was kinda dry, I ordered medium it came not even mild at all. My wife ordered the chicken fried rice and vegetable rolls. The fried rice was very dry, but the egg rolls were delicious...not enough sauce especially for three rolls. It took delivery service 2 1/2 hours before it was delivered. The delivery service said they picked it up 15 minutes before delivery but that the restaurant was so behind that they had to turn away people because they couldn't keep up.
This place is a toss up as to eat there but don't get it delivered. Not sure about picking it up either. It is a hit and miss establishment. Take a chance or not.
Good and spicy.
Got home and my dinner leaked everywhere in my car. Staff was unfriendly also. Will never come here again!
Food was good the previous time visited.
Today we walked in found a line that took 30 minutes to go through. I stuck it out and waited. However, as I went to order I was told that wait was now going to be an hour because they allowed the two customers ahead of us place an order for 10 and the next an order for 15.
Would not recommend for lunch maybe they’ll get this figured out.
Don't get extra hot. I love heat...but that blew my head off. Very delicious
Great place for fresh and authentic Thai food
Pad Thai is tasty.
Good food with good local spirit.
It's pretty good food! It usually comes out quick too. You have to physically go to the restaurant most of the times though to order takeout because they really like to leave their phone off the hook intentionally so you cannot call it in.
This is the best Thai place in Lubbock by far, by why does it seem like they are never open?
Amazing food! Wait time is always long but honestly, it's worth the wait!
Nothing more annoying than getting ready to try a place you’re excited to try with your girlfriend, showing up at 7 and seeing them closing up an hour early.
This Place is amazing, one of the best Lubbock has to offer, highly encourage you to stop by and try this place, its worth the wait
Always friendly love the food Idk why I’m making this post so late lmao but love this place food is always on point and get exactly what I ask for
