Family owned Thai Restaurant in Irving DFW! Thai comfort food, noodles, curries, stir fry, soups and many signature dishes! Eat locals support small businesses!
Wow, one of my clients told me about this place yesterday. So I sought it out, and here I am. I arrived around 1:00 pm. I was hoping that the restaurant was busy. It seems the name was recently changed to Hot Spice Thai. When I opened the door I thought the atmosphere to be very nice and clean. I 2as promptly greeted and seated at a cozy little table for two , in my case one, by the wall. I was given a lunch menu. For a drink, entrée, and appitizer, the cost is $12.99. That is very fair. For the appitizer, you get a choice of two eggrolls or the Tom Kha Soup. I asked for both. I wanted to the crunch of the eggrolls and the warmth of the soup. I was delighted with the soup. The flavors were quite lovely, and my tastebuds awoke from my lips to my toes. For those Thai food enthusiasts, you know what I am talking about. The flavor is 80% of everything. The crunch of the eggrolls was just right. I felt like goldilocks trying that last bowl of porridge. Yummy yum, all of the Tom Kha went into my tum.
My entrée choice was the Green Curry & rice. Again, I wasn't disappointed. The flavors once again curled my toes. I could not eat it all. So I know what I am having for breakfast in the morning. The waiter was so kind. So before our 80° weather hits tomorrow, my insides are nice and warm. This place should not be empty on a Friday afternoon during lunchtime time. Four thumbs up. I am including my toes.
**this was under old management not the new one as of 1/10/25***the food is now subpar.
Before reading, please be aware that I am vegetarian and ordered all the dishes below with absolutely no meat and egg, just tofu as protein.
For our apps we ordered corn patties and herbal Thai tofu. My advice is skip the corn patties, they're crunchy but the filling lacks anything to write home about. The herbal Thai tofu was alright as well but it's better with the sauce provided.
We ordered Thai basil rice, panang curry (comes with jasmine rice), and the drunken noodle.
The Thai basil rice is perfectly seasoned and the best of all the dishes I tried. It is a little on the saltier side but only a little.
The Panang curry was recommended by the waitresses and was absolutely delightful. A perfect blend of spice and a hint of sweetness were highlighted by the tender bamboo shoots. The drunken noodle has had many great reviews. It was flavorful and the sauce had a nice hint of umami flavor. The portion sizes were also good for the price.
My favorite was definitely the panang curry and basil rice.
Overall, small and homely place to eat some good Thai food!!!
We’ve been here twice for lunch in January, 2025 since new management has taken over. Have tried the pad thai, pad see ew and yellow curry. All were delicious. Large portions and a large amount of protein is included with each entree. Love the soup they serve at lunch. Lunch specials are a good value. Service was excellent. Plus, it a BYOB restaurant! Clean and beautiful space.
PROS: It was my first time here and I would eat here again. We had the veggie rolls as an appetizer and they were great. I ordered the Combination pad Thai (just shrimp and chicken) with a spice level of 3. If you like spicy, the level 3 will work out. It’s spicy enough to where you won’t wonder how you’re gonna finish the rest of your food.
CONS: The only thing I could really “complain” about is the water lol. Personally, I don’t like tap water… it tastes like the pipe was brewed into the water. I would suggest bringing your own water if you decide to get water. If you’re not picky, enjoy your pipe water :)
Hot Spice was a great experience!
I came here about two years ago and it was amazing. I recently came back and well the quality went way down. Their sweet and sour sauce for their fried dumplings was super watery. Their coconut shrimp didn’t have any hint of coconut, it seems to be regular battered shrimp. Their orange chicken was pretty good, it had plenty of chicken, but seemed overly saucy. They have a BYOB policy which was nice and yes we brought our own drinks.
Food was decent, but not the best Thai Food in town. Felt like it was under new management because it had this awkard feeling as for the service.
Tried the Drunken noodles, Basil fried rice, and Pad Thai... if you are debating between these at all... go with the Basil Fried rice, has good flavor(wish there was bit more) but it was better than the other 2.

Ordered drunken noodle, papaya salad,
Everything was good

Overall, small and homely place to eat some good Thai food!!!
awful. noodles werent fully cooked
Excellent food throughout the years. Everything is well balanced and delicious. Generous portions and caring staff. Eat here and leave happy.
I asked for a dish to be made in specific way, I am satisfied. Good flavors in the food.
Spent $15 on a small bowl of very salty Pho which was served in a triangular bowl, Not worth your money for small portions that doesn’t even taste good.
The service is good but the food is pretty bad. I wouldn’t recommend it.
One of the best Thai restaurant in the entire DFW metroplex!!! Food has been consistent from years! This restaurant was called Chilli Thai and later changed Hot Spice Thai Cuisine. Very nice ambiance with light music playing in the background and super friendly staff! The moment you walk in, pleasantly greeted and seated immediately! And coming to the food and the flavors are phenomenal ! very clean & always fresh ingredients! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TRYING THIS PLACE! If you are a vegan, vegetarian or omnivorous this is one place you can eat comfortably!!!
First time eating here and the food was very good. Everyone in our table chose a different dish and everyone cleaned their plates and really enjoyed the food. I’m glad we got dessert as well because the sticky rice with mango was so damn good. If I ever find myself in this area again I’ll definitely stop here again!
The only negative thing I can say is if you really like spicy food go with a higher spice level. I’ve been to to different Thai restaurants and they let you choose your spice levels on your dish. Those other Thai restaurants actually pack a punch in their food. I picked a 4 out of a 1-5 spice scale and it actually tasted like a 1-2 in spice level.
It’s too expensive. I would go there more often if it wasn’t so expensive.
Good service, good food.
The worst Thai food I have ever gotten…. No seasoning, greasy, mushy rice, chewy beef. Do yourself a favor and stay away
Found 2 long strands of hair in food. So disappointed and disgusted with how careless restaurant is in terms of hygiene and food safety.
I don't know what happened to this place, but I recently got my standard order and it was horrible. Pad Thai was ordered as a 4, and had ZERO spice and worse, no flavor. Had to season it at home too even be semi enjoyable. The crab Rangoon were just empty pockets, almost no filling. Then the steamed dumplings used to be my favorite thing. It was full of grissle and not even edible, seemed like they were microwaved an hour or two prior, and no crunchy bits on top. Guess I'm finding a new Thai spot 🫤
The food was great but they were severely understaffed so it turned my 1 hour lunch break into almost 2 hours. I also ordered a boba tea with my meal and it never came out but it least it wasn’t on the check. I don’t think the ticket ever made it to the kitchen.
Sweetest helpers, best food amazing service, beautifull peaceful restaurant. The kids that help out are cute, sweet amazing they are adorable 🥰.

Hot Spice was a great experience!
fried rice so good 💜💜
This review for Hot Spice( Formerly Chilli thai). Waitress who took our orders needs to be coached on how to talk to customers. She is either over worked or doesn’t care.
Coming to food, complimentary soup in lunch is watered down soup. It has no flavor other than coconut milk.
Pad ke mow was the only saving grace for the lunch I had
New management? New Chefs? Idk. But the pad Thai is not as flavorful as it was a few months ago.
Ordered the veggie gyoza(fried), drunken noodles (veg&tofu) and seafood salad.
The fried gyoza was served hot but bit oily (like it was served in some sort of rush). Drunken noodles were tasty and good portion size, but seafood salad was okay okay, protein was less.
The server was nice and polite.
Would come back to try more options!
The food was great and service was attentive and friendly throughout my meal. We had the fried rice and pad thai, and they were both good.. I also ordered a Thai tea, and it was absolutely delicious - rich and creamy, and the perfect complement. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone in the area looking for a delicious dining experience.
The staff was amazing and so nice, we came and ordered 5 different appetizers for to share and they were all delicious!
I was both disappointed in my food and the service I received here.
I visited on a Wednesday night and no one else was in the restaurant the entire time my party and I were there. I expected that we would have excellent service, because there was no one else to serve. That was far from the case. After they brought out our food they didn’t come back again until we had been sitting there for quite some time and were ready to go home. The staff just disappeared from the front so we couldn’t even find someone to ask for the check and carry outs. They never once asked if we needed anything or how we found the food.
My food was not good. Please don’t get the Honey Chicken. You get fried Katsu style chicken and on the side they give you a sauce that literally seems to be just honey (I expected some additional seasonings and flavor to make it a sauce). Also, the description says the honey is on the chicken, but they do not do so. I only left 2 stars because one member of my party did like their drunken noodles. So, maybe get that to go if you want to try this place out - but I won’t be coming back.
When this place was Chili Thai it was always so good. For whatever reason, the last few times we’ve ordered from here we were disappointed. The flavor was lacking, bland, and greasy. The pad see ew didn’t taste like anything. I don’t know if this happened with the change of ownership or different recipes or what. Sad because it used to be our favorite place. :(
Food was decent, but not the best Thai Food in town. Felt like it was under new management because it had this awkard feeling as for the service.

Best Thai in Irving
Pad See Ew is great
Curry Fried Rice Great
Food is not was it used to be. Tasted horrible. I have been coming to chilli thai since it opened however the name change/ownership change - quality is not the same
Never again!!
It was good and we used to love this place until this year. May be it was better until it's name was Chilli Thai. I don't think I will be back here soon.
Always had great food and service
I eat here all the time but something has been different lately. Ordered pad thai and everything was off. The flavor (or lack thereof I should say), the preparation…it was even greasier than usual. The shrimp even tasted different. Don’t know if they changed the recipe or what but there’s nothing about my food that I enjoyed.
Classic Indian-Thai restaurant. If that’s what you like this place is for you. We order Tom Yum and Curry. Curry taste Indian and Tom Yum was meh, used too much premade tamarin paste. Not going to come back if you ask me.
This place made me sick for 2 days. Coconut shrimp had 0 coconut on it. I used to love the location in Carrollton but after this experience I will not be back.
Great customer service and great food. I took some left over home and after 3 days heat it up and food still tasted fresh. Love the peach tea!
Placed an order for delivery on Uber eats. Called less than two minutes after placing the order to request no eggs in the Pad See Ew since there was no option to put in notes or requests. Was told they'd already made it with eggs. There's literally no way it had already been made.
The lady I talked to on the phone was not even apologetic. My order was $150+. The lack of consideration is extremely off putting even if the food is decent.
Tried red curry with salmon and 3 spice level
Good food
Got the green curry fried rice and fried GYOZA everything was fresh and delicious the atmosphere was amazing I was lucky enough to come in when everyone else was leaving so I got to enjoy the quiet alone they play really smooth music the staff is friendly the service is quick and the portions are big ! What's not to love ?
I came here last night and ordered tofu pad thai, tom kha soup, crispy veggie spring rolls, and thai tea to go. The food was delicious and I really enjoyed my pad thai.
Great little family ran restaurant. Love it.
This is our new go-to Thai place. So good!! Went with a family and we loved everything we got: pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles, panang curry, red snapper w garlic sauce, and seafood soup. The panang curry was a little watery but good flavor. The thai tea was good too, and they have a special off-menu mango sticky rice shown in pictures here.
The atmosphere is very classy and surprisingly was not busy on a Friday night. I highly recommend!
Excellent food, quick and courteous service!!! I’m coming back here again
Good authentic Thai cuisine. Fast service and a friendly host. Highly recommend if you like padthai
best drunken noodles i’ve ever had! the portion size was perfect! i’ll definitely be back.
Nice friendly staff. Small family oriented restraunt. Great food and appetizers. Closes after lunch but reopens around 5pm for dinner. Go early to avoid crowds and wait time.
Best curry I've ever had.
The food, the atmosphere is just amazing. The staff there is great and the food is even better! Definitely recommend this Thai place because you won’t regret at all!! Also great meal prices! Worth a try!
The worst Thai food and worst staffs (lack of attention and misguided). Don’t ever go there for the chicken satey, basil fried rice and Panang curry. They served us stale and tasteless foods, sauce was bland and lacked flavour. Waste of time, money and bad for health.
Been ordering from here for years. Quality food, and just good people. Back in 2020 when there was that nationwide toilet paper shortage they actually included a free roll of TP for free with large orders, which was very cool. They had plenty and they wanted to make sure they shared their resources with their customers.
This was the worst Thai food I've had. The only time I can say for sure it was "fake curry". The vegetables and meat had been cooked/prepped hours before, all separately and kept in the fridge. Curry was put in a bowl and these ingredients were then placed separately on top of the sauce, as in dry old cold beef on one side, bell peppers on one side, bamboo shoots on one side. As in, they take something they will be using for the next several hours at once, take it out of the fridge and put it in one corner of the bowl (vegetables uncooked) without cooking it all together. All the vegetables (and the beef) were terrible except the bamboo shoots. The flavor of the curry itself was average.
I should have read the reviews before eating here.
Perusing the pictures here, its clear the vegetables were frozen and has been sitting under a hotplate all day.
It's telling when the food at panda express is far more fresh than the sad, shriveled excuse that they call food here.
I’ve had much better Thai food than this. It’s pretty bland. House dressing for salad tastes like straight peanut butter out of a jar with no other spices. Thai fried rice needs more flavor and variety in it. Ordered Uber eats and my favorite Thai place was not available so I decided to give this a shot. I probably will not be re ordering..
Basil Fried rice is always good here. But I gave 3 stars because of their service. In their togo orders, they dont add condiments like soy sauce and chili sauce etc, unless specifically asked. And the reasoning they give is - a few customer dont want it. Wait what? This is absurd. What about those who want it? They shouldn't expect the customers to remember/know always, rather they should add by default. other restaurants add it by default, dont have to ask. Anyway, you want to save millions by saving condiments, guess what, you lost a regular customer.
Horrible food ! We ordered pad Thai & green curry tastes so horrible. What a waste of money !!!
Don’t go to this irving chilli thai, in one word it just worst..
Cleanest place. Food is great. Love the taste of everything
Delicious food and great service! Due to COVID-19 we’ve only been able to order takeout but each time has been a very pleasant and wonderful experience. The wait time is not long at all and we always get fresh delicious warm food. So glad we found this Thai Restaurant. We’ve definitely become repeat customers! Thank you!
This restaurant used to be a great place to truly enjoy Thai food, but the quality has gone down drastically. Many dishes lack flavor and spice, even on the highest spice level. I do not recommend takeout from this place anymore. It's not as good as the competing Thai restaurants in the area.
Great food and huge portions.
Flavor is good but they do not give enough vegetables with the dishes. (Drunken noodles or pad Thai).
They’re only doing to go right now. We had the pad see ew with chicken at spicy level three. It was delicious. Spicy level three is no joke though — it is quite spicy! Nose was definitely running afterwards. One serving is enough for two people.
I don't ever leave reviews but I feel if I can save someone there hard earned money than I have to! Worst thai food ive ever had ! No flavor on anything except a heavy heavy chili flavor ! DEFINITELY try another place if u want good thai food! You should try using Herb's in spices and not just chilli caked on everything! Now I'm on my way to pick up McDonald's because we had to throw away $60 worth of food!
Love the food here, but a star had been lost due to low portion and an increase in price for the food.
Amazing food and service.Kim is the best .He takes orders very patiently and always makes sure we get the right level of spice .The rates are reasonable and very quick service.Best thai restaurant in Irving .
The pad thai is great! Always good food and is ready pretty quick too.
Always great and accurate to go orders. Coconut shrimp is awesome!
Best Thai food on MacArthur.
My husband and I have ordered delivery on door dash from these guys twice already and their food is SO delicious. Their Pad Se Ew, basil fried rice, and pad Thai are so yum! I’ve also never tried Tom Kha Soup before..but I’m glad I did because i want to eat it everyday now. The portions are also huge! I ate some last night for dinner, brought some for lunch and still have left overs in the fridge. Try them out!
10 STARS!!!! Best Thai food ever!!! And they gave us a roll of toilet paper!!! LOL!!!!
This place used to serve good Thai food. Not now with take out order. Doordash delivery man was super fast and prompt. We ordered fried red snapper; Pad Kee Mao( sea food) and Pad See Wee( Shrimp). Awful! The fish is dry; shrimp is near rotten, noodle has no taste... I'd better not to eat Thai food unless I cook during COVID19 lockdown. Hopefully everything goes back to normal soon!
Food was flavorless and overcooked :(
This was the second time I've visited this restaurant but this time came for a group dinner. The service was prompt & patient with our group despite us saying we were ready to order even thought we weren't. We ordered about 5 appetizers and a few entrees. The food was phenomenal. I personally got the massaman curry & it was delicious. One of my favorite spots for some favorable curry. Also, finished my plate so quick I forgot to take a picture for the review 🤷🏽♂️
Not the Best Thai Food. There are much better places. My Thai Pad beef noodles were not good, the meat Was Hard and with a funny taste. Sorry, I Will not go back.
🥟🍜🥟🍜🥟🍜🥟🍜🥟🍜🥟🍜🥟🍜🥟
No es la mejor comida tailandesa. Hay lugares mucho mejores. Mis fideos de carne Thai Pad no estaban buenos, la carne estaba dura y con un sabor raro. Lo siento, no volveré.
I tried this place for the first time this evening and I definitely was not disappointed! If you’re looking to try something new, definitely consider their pad see ew! I know it’s my new favorite!
We (8 people) went to this place on 02/21 and ordered Tom yum Soup, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew and drunken noodles. 4 persons got severe allergic reaction to the food. These people never had a history of food allergies.
Totally Disappointed !!!
I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu and extra veggies sautéed WITHOUT egg. They totally missed the request to omit the egg and it even had bits of eggshells in it. I ordered through Uber Eats and the delivery person was great but I won’t be ordering from this place again. $24 for nothing.
Food was tasty, service was good. The place could use a remodel, furnitures are outdated and old.
Got the shrimp and broccoli with garlic. It was pretty tasty! Food came out pretty fast.
The pride of INDIA
I was really excited to try this restaurant based on the reviews, but was let down tremendously. The flavors were so mild and almost lacking in everything we tried. I have had so much better Thai food in smaller and lesser known restaurants than this. I don't highly recommend this place unless you have a palatte that desires mildly flavored/bland food. Sauce in the pad cashew was like a jelly, which was so odd and very little in amount to have it with rice that accompanies the dish.
Food prepared very quickly and it was yummy...
Awesome food! This is our favourite Thai place who always customise vegetarian Thai food for us! Great service !
Love this place. Ask for vegan and spicy. They'll make it happen and make it very well.
Very disappointed with Chili Thai. Doesn’t live up to Crushcraft or Too Thai which are in the area.
Good Value for your price. Been here twice. For 7 people it cost less than 70 bucks and is one of the tastiest Thai places I have been to. The red curry and the green curry are a must try for people who have never tried it.
Cozy environment. Friendly and attentive service. The food was delicious. Ordered a bowl of the tom ka soup, drunken noodles and green curry. Generous portions. Would definitely return.
The server was attentive and courteous. The grilled salmon with panang sauce was amazing. The Thai tea was also really good. Definitely worth the money spent.
We generally order take out food from here. Taste is not consistent.. sometimes food tastes awesome and sometimes it’s just okay. Overall good place to order from and us variety of options.
Great place to eat at! The best in Irving
Great Vegetarian soup! The noodles and Panang curry are also great! The service was fast and reliable and listened to details about making the order vegetarian. Will go back!
Good service and timely food presentation
Loved the food. Tilapia tasted very good, and the service was good
Excellent service and food!! Have been going to this place for about 3 years. Great food and quick service every visit!!
Nice place to have your weekend dinner with friends & family 👍
Awesome food
The Tom Ga soup is phenomenal.
Food is okay.
I got the green curry with seafood and it was really good
Ordered online and the drunken noodles were dry and had zero sauce/seasoning. Primarily only got noodles in my dish. Barely any tofu or veggies. My fresh rolls also tasted very bland not like ones I’ve had at other places.
Great flavours on Thai herbal chicken and papaya salad
Fantastic service & good variety of menu options. Chicken tom kha soup & a spice level 4 shrimp curry will make you never want to try another Thai restaurant in the Irving area. And you know this place is good having to compete with the beloved Our Place it shares a parking lot with. Different cuisines, I know. But when you park and have to choose between the two,....alternate. Take turns. Treat yourself. You know? Or, well,... I guess throw on some sweatpants and eat both.
Have been here multiple times. I like the food and the service.
Always good food
I don't know how long this place has been open, but it was good. We went at lunch today. They weren't busy, which surprised us, but they should have been. The place was clean, the service was good, and the food was delicious. We had spicy edamame, vegetable spring rolls, pad thai, cashew chicken, seafood salad, coconut shrimp, and drunken noodles. We were able to choose our spice level from 1 to 5 on the main dishes. I didn't get pictures, though...we just dug right in!
It was ok, not great.
Had a great first time experience. The food was really good- flavorful yet not hot. Got our orders pretty quick. Their 'mango with sticky rice' is just amazing!!
Soup and lettuce wraps were not tasty at all. All else was good. Probably would not come again.
Pretty average for Thai food.
As good as Authentic. The food is yum.
Delicious food having awesome flavors. Sufficient quantity. If you are looking for Thai restaurants, this is the destination.
Okay food but Tom Kha soup is nice.Staff is very courteous. Quite ambience.
Really good food

Love their Spicy red sauce stir fry
