"Khao Mun Gai" is a popular street food in Thailand. It's also known as Hainan Chicken. The dish includes juicy chicken (crispy or soft), served with savory rice (cooked in chicken stock), sprigs of cilantro, a side of cucumbers, winter melon soup, and some amazing dipping sauces.
Rice is uncooked and some of it are mushy. Whoever made it should stop and try to learn how to cook rice first. I should’ve believed the reviews in doordash. Ordered a side of their steamed chicken and it’s just 2 Tablespoon of chicken. Order took forever to get ready.
I was so excited to try this but was disappointed. Never again. Horrible experience. And the egg rolls is mostly empty.
We have Angry Mom's Kitchen as a rotating pop-up rest at our office. I don't normally visit the pop-ups but when Angry Mom's is our pop-up I'm guaranteed to place an order. The portions are just right. Just enough for lunch. My fav is the crispy chicken.
I was so excited to discover this delicious and authentic Khao Mun Gai, which can be so hard to find done properly, even in a city like Houston. For those who’ve never tried this Thai street food staple, the secret is in the flavorful chicken sauce - ladled over soft velvety chicken slices with savory rice and slices of fresh cucumber.
This place is my new go-to for when I want something a little healthier but still get hearty comfort food. The soft chicken is traditional, but I have to say the crispy chicken won me over, so good!!
I ordered their signature dish and it was so fresh and delicious! My friends had egg rolls and pot stickers and were equally pleased.
What a great find! Been hoping to find a good version of this dish in Houston. Placed my pickup order via Square and you get texted a locker number to pick it up in - you get to choose white/dark meat and with our without skin, although dark only comes with skin. There is a bed of cabbage under the meat. The sauces were really tasty and I threw some leftovers into the little soup it came with - so good!

Ordered family meal and portions are less than before. Says serves 5 but no way. You get more if you order 4 individual meals for the same price (as evidenced by my only getting 3 half filled soups!). Also, girl working at front of shared place could care less about working.
Just had Angry Mom's for the first time via the Fooda pop-up near my job. Tried the signature (crispy) chicken & rice dish with egg rolls and sauces. Omg. Heaven!!!
I had this for work and recommend the crispy tofu.
This food is SO GOOD. It's a symphony in food.
Nice that there's a little space where one can wait for the food, and one doesn't have to wait under the texas sun.
Food was not good. It tasted like I was served old food... The chicken was hard and tasted bitter. Whatever oil the chicken was fried in, added to the bitterness of it all (I believe the oil was rancid). The ginger rice was overcooked (mushy), and very wet. This was extremely unpleasant. Even the sauces I received tasted old/off.
Total waste of $$. I had to throw the meal away, for fear that I would get sick.
They got my order wrong and no one answers the phone when you call.
Spartan interior
I'll give 3 stars for the food, since the pictures look ok.
Bear with me here. So I posted on a neighborhood app trying to find an abandoned dog a home. The post got a lot of views I suppose? Because I was emailed a gift certificate from Angry Mom's (that's the one I picked, out of a couple of choices; I figured I'd give them a try). So I'm off across town in rush hour.
When I get there, it's just a building with a pickup window inside. Ok, one of these innovative shared space kitchen deals. Fine.
Ordering is either done online, or at an automated kiosk run by Square. It's a little glitch-y, and (I should have seen this coming) the automated checkout did not honor my code— that I had just been sent, and that's supposedly valid for another month.
So I don't have much of a review for you, just a about being jerked around. It's a shame I'll never know.
I wanted to update my review as it seems that the chicken portions have gotten better with my last few visits. The chicken is delicious and the Ginger sauce is sent from the heavens! The flavor combination I never knew I needed!
I’ve tried a lot of chicken and rice dishes from different Asian cultures and I have to say Angry Mom’s Kitchen knows what they’re doing. It’s probably better than my mom’s but don’t tell her that.
I ordered the classic crispy chicken with Thai tea. Chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside with nice flavor. Rice and winter melon soup also had good flavor when they’re usually bland foods. The Thai tea was too sweet for me personally but still a good value. Overall this restaurant exceeded my expectations.

I ordered the crispy chicken and the food is very good and flavorful. Would recommend to everyone
Ordered regular chicken and fried. Regular taste like bleach. Fried is ok but they give such small portions
The best chicken rice, just like my favorite place in singapore. So happy to find this! Better than the two places who sell them in bellaire.
Love this place! Great service and delicious food.

I was pleasantly met by Any the chef on my pick up order, it was incredible! The chicken cooked to perfection and the chicken ginger rice perfectly cooked...Kudos! to your business I'll be your weekly customer, simply delicious!
