Ambiance:
The ambiance is welcoming
Cuisine:
A standout dish is the Three Flavor Snapper, a masterfully executed combination of sweet, sour, and spicy. The fish was perfectly cooked, with a crispy exterior and tender, flaky inside. Each bite was infused with rich layers of flavor.
The flexibility of the menu is impressive, with any dish offered in a vegetarian variation. This is a major plus for diners with diverse dietary needs.
Service:
The service is equally praiseworthy. Staff are attentive without being intrusive.
Final Verdict:
This restaurant is a must-visit for lovers of Thai cuisine, especially those seeking a thoughtful, flexible menu that caters to all preferences.
This restaurant was a revelation. We have been in Sarasota for 16 months and have had a difficult time finding quality Thai food. Not only did we find quality we found fantastic, elegant and deeply flavorful food. We had Thai food almost weekly in CA. Hands down this is the best we’ve come across in years! The Pad Ti image has the deepest flavor profile we have ever had. The seafood dish was magical. Not to mention the various “dim sum” style apps. We will be back, we will get takeout, we will spread the word.
This place is fantastic, you need to get there early or you will wait. I don't think you can order anything wrong off this menu ... The food is fresh and prepared with care and talent. It is small and gets crowded and noisy, there is outdoor seating, but I don't understand why there are no outdoor heaters as this would help spread out the crowd. We sat at the sushi bar which was nice, but could feel the crowd stacking up behind us. (Which actually tells you how great this place is)
Hubby and I have been here multiple times. Always great food and service. Not a hugh restaurant, but they do have outdoor seating. On busy colder nights, you do have to be patient and wait to be seated, but that's what I see at most restaurants in sarasota.
I love spice station.
Very fresh and delicious sushi. Consistent quality and wonderful service.
Food was delish! Will definitely visit again
My bf is Vegan he got stir veggia fry it was delicious but not as authentic as the other spot we tried night before last at Tropical Thai 🤞🏾👌🏾
nice place
I love Spice Station. Great outside seating and inside is wonderful too. Plus I love Thai food and sushi and they serve both. So fresh tasting! It’s a go to place for me!
I got delivery from there last night. The food was the worst I have ever received. The pan tai was so mushy I couldn't eat it. The amazing chicken was tough over cooked. I threw everything in the trash. I will never waste my money on this place again
The Sushi was good but one of the people in our party didn’t receive their food the whole time, including soup that was an appetizer. (we sat there for an hour waiting for his fried rice) the waitress didn’t apologize and did nothing about it so it made the experience very poor! I am embarrassed as I hyped this place up to my friends and he didn’t receive his food nor get an apology at least. she instead rolled her eyes at us when we reminded her about his food. Don’t recommend unless you want to basically work there. Also, she even charged us for it lol!
Best quality sushi in Sarasotaz, period.
Such a cute place downtown with amazing food!
We always recieve the best quality food and the best service everytime we eat here. The sushi is amazing! The appetizers are plentiful and the entrees have always been delicious. We frequent this location and will continue to in the future.
This is one of the better Thai options in Sarasota. We’ve tried a few since moving into the area and this was good. They also serve sushi which was good as well. We’ll visit again.
Exceptional and authentic Thai food! I will eat here every time I’m in Sarasota from now on. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s not about the spice. It is remarkably delicious regardless of spice level (1 - 10).
Wow! Great Thai and Sushi and very reasonable. Highly recommended. Ate here two nights running after we discovered.
Comfortable Environment
Friendly staff
Great Food
Always a pleasure to go there
Hard working female owner is very nice
First class casual walk-in restaurant with extensive Asian menu. Currys, spring rolls, edamame highly recommended.
Best Thai food around sarasota area!!!
Got it delivered for the first time last night, and I’m confident in saying that this is the most delicious Thai food I’ve ever had!!! I wish the portions were a little bigger, but I’m very satisfied with this place. Will be ordering much more in the near future.
As the OPEN sign is on, I walk in at 2:52 for Soup and she says we are closed. I said what time do you close? She says 3:00. I won’t be back.
Such a good meal here this week. We make it a must to dine here during our annual trip to Sarasota. An amazing range of delicious dishes. Great for children as well as adults in our party. We love it. Plus, feels good value.
The curry was incredibly watery. I have never seen green curry chicken like that. Was tasteless, but the sushi was alright I guess. Probably won’t be back. I had a $60 order and I assumed it would be worth it. If you want to spend that kind of money go to Tsumnai. That place is way better
Chirashi had more premium fish than is typical from restaurants in this price range, including a generous portion of uni! A pleasant surprise. Excellent quality.

Wonderful, fresh, and delicious. Thai or Japanese is very, very good
Food was okay. Small portions makes sense for cheaper prices. Crab Rangoon has curry as they use real crab. Very interesting flavors.
Update: I needed last minute takeout for 6 ppl...they exceeded my expectations...all with a smile! Here's my previous review. Excellent menu...tasty food...nice vibe, right here in Rosemary. Place fills up fast. Al fresco dining was a plus on a perfect day. You too will be pleased.
Great lunchtime menu combos.
Wow, I can't say enough!!! This is, without a doubt, my FAVORITE restaurant in Sarasota. Simon is an incredible sushi chef, and the staff is so friendly! Their lunch specials are some of the best downtown, great quality, quantity, and you can't beat the price. I've had my last 3 birthday dinners there, and there will be many more!
The best sushi in town. It’s so good
Decided to give this place a try based on pictures and other reviews, but left a bit underwhelmed. I'm not a huge fan of sushi, so I went with one of the Thai options. The spicy noodles were not spicy at all (you know it's bad if you have to add your own sriracha). I came at lunchtime, which meant it included a soup or salad. The salad was great, and I would definitely get that on a return visit. I also had the basil rolls, which looked delicious but really lacked any flavor. I saw a few plates of tempura coming out of the kitchen, and it looked very good, so that's probably the way to go.
Prices were good and the service was fast and friendly.
Great lunch spot
Delicious Thai food and great assortment of sushi!
One of the servers was also the host and welcomed us genuinely. We received great service and the food was absolutely delishes. This was our first time there but not our last. This place did not disappoint. I would def be returning.
I love this restaurant, I order once a week faithfully. This time my shrimp fried rice overwhelmingly tasted like the remnants of teriyaki Salmon. I’m assuming they’re reusing pans. Please, please fix this. I don’t want to be put off from ordering from my favorite restaurant because of something like this! Shrimp fried rice shouldn’t taste like salmon oil and teriyaki! Yuck 🤢
My sister and I were spending time with my mom in Sarasota, and we all love Thai and Japanese. Spice Station seemed like the perfect combination of food options. The inside area was completely full, a testament to their popularity. It was a lovely day and we happily ate outside. Service was prompt and friendly. We got a dumpling appetizer to share, and then each of us got our favorite main dish - a sushi roll for my mom, masaman curry for me, steak for my sister. The flavors were delicious. I had enough to take leftovers home, and they brought extra rice for me. It was just as wonderful the next day. Well recommended.
Been there a few times, it's been great every time.
This place is great! Best sushi I've had in Sarasota so far by far. Will definitely be returning!
Great Asian cuisine
I’ve never had a bad meal here. It’s probably my all-time favorite restaurant in Sarasota. Their coconut soup is fantastic. Their pad woon sen is fantastic. A+
Oh I had the lunch special the two egg rolls and it was delicious. Highly recommend if you like sushi
The pad thai tasted like rotten limes! 🤮🤢
Best Thai food in Sarasota
The food was good and the atmosphere was really nice. The staff was super helpful. Recommend the spring rolls and the green curry.
They didn’t put spicy in the spicy pasta and nothing flavor
The pad thai terrible nothing flavor the meat raw and terrible the whole. I couldn't eat it.
Fantastic! a great spot every time
Food is fine, service so so but what happened yesterday evening is unacceptable: we were asked to leave because "they need the table". This was after we sat for less than one hour, 4 people for dinner. The waitress said we can sit outside if we want. Thank you very much! We won't be back.
We had a wonderful family dinner at the Spice Station. Everything was delicious and we especially enjoyed the sushi and curry dishes. Will be back soon!
Drive past this place. Food is not great, for example on our starter the rice arrived in a plastic bag that we had to 1, figure out how to open without burning our hands, 2, rice was way over cooked and not eatable.
Next main course: my Pad Thai was so over sauced it resembles nothing like what it should.
Again, keep on driving or you can waste $100 and come to the same conclusion.
I went there to attend my friend's wedding. The place is so Cosy and has a outdoor part too where the initial ceremony happened and then started dining and partying indoor. The food was good too. Quite an Asian cuisine.
Attended a wedding they catered. Loved the food from appetizers and sushi to one of the best curries I’ve ever had. Outstanding food!
Catered for a wonderful wedding. The food was delicious and impeccable 👌
A must try when you're in the Sarasota downtown area I had the chicken fried rice
A great place with amazing food and good service. We are regulars anyway. 😁
Ginger grouper was excellent. Sunomo(?) salad was great....sliced cucumbers in a vinegar, sugar, water dressing w/ cooked shrimp & calamari on top with seaweed salad...it is a small salad, perfect for appetizer.
My work ordered lunch for pickup- I got the pad thai. I’m a picky eater and this dish is delicious fresh and as leftovers the next day!
This restaurant is really good. Located in the heart of the fancy Rosemary District, offers amazing Thai food and sushi. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and food delicious. Regarding the staff, they could be more approachable in my opinion, but I do recommend Spice Station for a family gathering, romantic dinner or evening out with friends
Super nice staff! Got the Pad Thai and asked them to make it spicy, it was spicy and delicious! This was one of the best Pad Thai I have ever had in my life! You can taste the tangy tamarind and the noodle is bouncing and chewy, that’s how you know it’s made right!
BE AWARE of the bossy looking waitress! The food is quite tasty, so I ate here several times since I arrived to Sarasota, until the bossy looking waitress served… She was friendly to male guests but she didn’t even looked at me at all when I was ordering, so I wasn’t sure if she heard me. Other waiters service is good, but I was scared of this woman. I’m not so sure if I want to come back to this place, even though it is conveniently located where I am staying… Again, food is good.
Super busy. But regardless the food and service were amazing. This was a Thursday evening
Great food, fantastic, friendly service.
Omg, the beef brisket massamon curry was incredible as was everything at the table. Our server was fantastic with such a great happy personality.
Very modern. Not particularly cozy atmosphere. But the food and service was outstanding. Great flavors. They are my new benchmark for green curry. I tried the softshell crab in green curry dish - it was fantastic!
I came here twice first time when my mom and I were looking for a place for dinner and she wanted Thai food. I must admit when I found out it was a fusion place I was a bit worried. Boy was I wrong. I had an excellent experience from the moment we sat down. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was excellent. I had the panang with roasted duck and it was incredible in fact. I took some coworkers with me for lunch there because I thought they were that good and they loved it. Can't recommend enough.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Spice Station, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. However, what truly made our visit memorable was our server, Joy. She is an incredible person, so loving and welcoming, and she truly embodies the essence of exceptional service. Her warm and genuine personality is the reason my husband Spencer and I visit this restaurant so often.
From the moment we walked through the doors, Joy greeted us with a smile that instantly made us feel at home. Her infectious enthusiasm and positive energy set the tone for the entire evening. She took the time to make us feel valued as customers, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary.
Joy's attention to detail and knowledge of the menu is remarkable. She effortlessly guided us through the diverse selection of dishes, offering insightful recommendations based on our preferences. Her genuine passion for the cuisine was evident as she described each dish with enthusiasm and clarity. Thanks to Joy's assistance, we were able to navigate the menu and make informed choices that perfectly suited our tastes.
Throughout the evening, Joy demonstrated impeccable timing and attentiveness. She anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, ensuring that our glasses were always filled and our table was immaculate. Her ability to multitask without ever appearing overwhelmed was truly impressive, showcasing her exceptional skills as a server.
Not only did Joy excel in her duties as a server, but she also went above and beyond to create a personalized and memorable experience for us. She engaged in meaningful conversations, making us feel like treasured guests rather than just customers. Her genuine care and warmth made us feel like we were dining with a dear friend.
In conclusion, Spice Station is an outstanding restaurant, and Joy is the shining star that sets it apart from the rest. Her loving and welcoming demeanor, combined with her exceptional service, is the reason my husband and I are frequent visitors. We wholeheartedly recommend Spice Station to anyone seeking a remarkable dining experience, and we can guarantee that Joy will make your visit truly unforgettable.
Bland
I didn’t even want to eat there after being blatantly ignored for 10 mins. The hostess(1) took multiple people names and party’s sizes. To the point that multiple onlookers as notice my discomfort in this situation. There was even a party of two that sat themselves at the sushi bar. When another hostess(2) finally takes my name and party size and is grabbing or menus to sit our party. Hostess (1) tells hostess (2) to give the party that sat themselves our menu.
I’ve food the food is good but I will not be spending my money at this establishment as it seems like they don’t want it. This event happened today 12/28. Basically 10 to 20 mins ago.
One of my favorite places. Afraid to praise it because I still want it to be accessible. Staff amazing, great personalities, lots of variety on the menu, vegan options, great outside seating, still affordable!
I love eating at Spice Station. I love their Shrimp Pad Thai and Pot Stickers. So yummy! I usually eat there but today I ordered takeout. The service has always been great.
The food was great! We had the Siam chicken and the Thai basil with chicken (both with “Thai spicy” spiciness levels). Both dishes were great - not too salty or sweet. One thing we noticed was that the rice portions are on the smaller side. Even the extra bowl we asked for looked like one small scoop of rice.
The service is very fast and efficient. They’re not there for small talk, which is nice. But they also didn’t come around after the food was delivered to refill drinks. We made eye contact with 2 service people who kept quickly walking away, before we explicitly waved over a 3rd person for refills. They were very quick on refills when it happened though.
Great food and excellent service
Tough parking, tough finding a seat at the Restaurant. Food is mediocre and so is the service. Sushi is nothing special and not worth the effort of finding a parking place
Why call yourself spice station when your food is so bland? This place takes the Americanization of Thai food to a new low level.
We had very friendly service and everything was correct, however the vegan options were limited and my “vegan Tom Kha soup” tasted very fishy. Extremely cramped and crowded with an upscale clientele. Disappointed with the small rice portions.
A wonderful surprise! Great selection of food and wine. Everything was delicious. Will definitely go back.
Sushi is wonderful
What a charming hidden treasure in downtown Sarasota! Wife and I were craving sushi within walking distance of our hotel, so we gave Spice Station a try. We ordered the citrus and super dragon roll and were blown away! The sushi reminded us of our favorite spot in Cleveland (Mizu) and was incredibly tasty, loved the finely cut lemon on the citrus roll especially. Also ordered some panang chicken curry, which was some of the best curry I've ever had, the flavor was perfect. The curry itself was a tad thin as far the texture went (I prefer it a bit thicker) and the portion of rice was a bit small, but those are minor quibbles in what was a fantastic dining experience. The spot itself was delightful in appearance and lots of outdoor seating were available (which is good since it's a bit small inside). I have been to Japanese/Thai combo restaurants before and been disappointed in various ways, but Spice Station knows how to do both right!!!
Food was delicious and service was great. Beautiful day so we sat outside and construction nearby was a slight annoyance, but didn't hamper our experience.
The restaurant came highly recommended. Atmosphere and service were excellent but we found the food to be average. Could have just been the dishes we ordered…would definitely try again!
Delicious and beautiful presented foods. Shrimp tempura a must!
Very disappointing. Not authentic. We ordered the Hot Bagel sushi, Spicy Noodles (Drunken Noodles), soft crab green curry , shrimp and scallop in 3 chili sauce. Sushi was fine but the other dishes were overly seasoned and heavily salty. Even with the low quality basic rice, it was unbearable to balance the salty dishes.
Please taste your food before serving.
We had thre grouper which was perfectly prepared... We will return..
...I'm writing this in disbelief.
I don't know what happened here but the last 3 times we ate here were extremely disappointing.
New owners?
Different chef?
This is NOT authentic Thai food at all.
No idea but the food was was terribly over seasoned and tasteless not pleasing to the palate ...needless to say we won't be back. 3 strikes your out.
....
Great sushi.
Most excellent sushi!!
Best steamed rolls in the area. The chicken in peanut sauce was delicious. Wife had a shrimp scallop dish that was also terrific.
Our favorite thai restaurant in Sarasota. A neighborhood gem!
Loved the great food and great service by Lucy!
Awesome! We were up from Naples, Fl, couldn’t ask for anything better!!!
We will be back!!!
The food and service were great. This was the best restaurant we visited on our Florida trip by a wide margin. The seafood was cooked on point, the sauces were delicious, the vegetables were fresh and tasty, and even the bathrooms were nice and clean.
food was amazing
Best sushi around, period
Seared, fresh, healthy! Everything at Spice Station is quality and delicious. I consider myself a sushi connoisseur and few places in Sarasota or Bradenton do it well. I’ll travel from Bradenton to Sarasota just to dine here. Fast and friend service and fair priced for exceptional quality. Their sweet shrimp and quail egg sushi are some of my favorites. Thank you!
Was good ... Service was great !
The waiters are not friendly and the food is always late. They are only arrogant because there’s no competition in the area.
Top
Yum! Love this restaurant!
Great food but literally the worst attitude and service. Always in a rush, make you feel like you’re bothering them, the lady at the front seems to have an attitude. If i didn’t love the sushi I wouldn’t come here.
Bueno 👍
Love Spice Station!! The best Sushi around!! Wait Staff is always excellent and nice. Food outside of the Sushi Menu is very good as well.
The curry empanadas were amazing. Every sushi roll we had was delicious, and they had some of the best pad thai we've ever had.
Cashew chicken was excellent! This was my first visit here, but IMO the best Thai restaurant in the area.
Love the food. Always fresh and delicious.
Great little place in the Rosemary district. Pad-thai was perfect!
Great food and good service. Prices are good too. Menu has lots of variety plus sushi.
Delicious & enjoyable, and would have been absolutely perfect if the service had been more alert and responsive. I will go back because anyone can have an off day.
If you're looking for a culinary adventure that combines the flavors of Asia with an artistic atmosphere, Spice Station in Sarasota is the place to go! My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant, and we were blown away by the exceptional sushi and Thai dishes.
From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the unique ambiance of the restaurant. The decor is a blend of modern and traditional elements, and the neighborhood surrounding Spice Station is filled with artistic charm. The fact that there was a concert going on across the street only added to the vibrant energy of the evening.
But let's get back to the food - it was simply amazing. The sushi was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared. We also loved the Thai dishes, which were bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The Tom Kha Gai soup was a standout, with its creamy coconut milk base and fragrant lemongrass and galangal. Oh, and don't forget to try the Pad Thai - it was some of the best we've had outside of Thailand!
The service at Spice Station was also excellent. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, making sure that our every need was met. We really appreciated the care and attention that went into every aspect of our dining experience.
We highly recommend Spice Station to anyone who loves great food and a unique, artistic atmosphere. Whether you're in the mood for sushi, Thai dishes, or both, you won't be disappointed. And with the added bonus of a lively neighborhood and the occasional concert across the street, this is one dining experience you won't forget anytime soon.
Tasty food and great service!
Definitely what I thought it would be definitely wasn't worth 40 dollars , definitely would not be going back at all 😡
not good at all. I'm not a sushi specialist but I have had good sushi before and this was not good.
Phenomenal Thai food. Both the sushi and Thai entrees are great. We visited 3 different times in just one week!
amazing ! excellent ! went for valentine’s day and it was excellent fast service. delicious food, the thai tea and green tea is great their sushi is also amazing ! bangkok basil chicken is wow! will be back i can’t wait
The food wasn't good
Food just ok, service not very attentive, atmosphere was too noisy inside had to move outside.
We both ordered the spicy spaghetti and once again, delicious!
Great Sushi. My second visit
They do not take reservations so we go early. I would highly reccomend.
A terrific lunch menu. Extremely fresh and tasty food, only complaint would be we like it a bit spicy and so far haven’t found this on the menu. Have eaten here many times and everything has been delicious. Very attentive staff.
The food is good and reasonable price for being in downtown Sarasota. I had excellent sushi before. This place is good for a nice lunch jot too costly.
What's not to love. Best sushi..as a matter of fact. Never had a bad meal here..its all really fresh and the atmosphere is hoping..but we like that..we'll be back again soon..5 stars
Great food, great prices, fast service.
Best, fresh Sushi I've had in a long time!!! And I eat in a lot of Sushi restaurants. YumYum.
The Thai food here is pretty tasty, and if the weather is nice, the outdoor tables are quiet and lovely. I would recommend it.
You should know: the water in Sarasota is terrible, and this restaurant does not filter their water.
In the busy season the staff seems perpetually overwhelmed.
Finally, if you order a curry, it will come with the smallest pyramid of rice you can possibly imagine. However, if you ask for more rice, they will bring you some for free.
Best sushi in Sarasota
Salmon red curry lunch was banging! And for $12, I mean that’s hard to beat. Great value, the sushi was pretty decent as well
Staff is friendly, atmosphere is perfect for a small sushi restaurant, prices are very reasonable and I've always enjoyed my experiences here.
Food good and reliable
OMG this is my favorite new restaurant. I had sushi and curry, it was awesome. Curry was a little on the thin liquid side and I prefer mine thicker but it was delicious just the same. Servers very warm and friendly. Restaurant was decorated very nicely and was totally comfortable. They also had some outdoor seating. There is some street parking or you can go to a downtown parking garage and walk there and enjoy the scenic downtown area.
Great food. Nice ambiance. Outdoor seating advisable.
Live in the neighborhood and stopped in for our first time last night. Fantastic experience with great service and super fresh and tasty food! Cannot wait to return and try some more menu options - so much to choose from.
Amazing amazing amazing!!!
I’ve only ever ordered carry out and the food has been great every time. Great value for the amount and quality of food. The Tokyo Bento lunch is my favorite right now!
The Thai Donuts were excellent although I didn't get them with chocolate. They're great for sharing with friends cuz they're kind of big and there's five of them in an order. I had the spicy chicken Thai noodles and I had them make it number eight Thai spicy and it was excellent and as hot as I wanted! I had the mixed vegetables which were good on the vegetarian menu. The spring rolls and the basil rolls are also both very good although I think the basil rolls were better. I didn't like the sauce that came with the spring rolls but the one that came with the basil rolls was excellent. Took roughly 20 minutes from the time I place my order to get my food to go so I was happy with that. I had water, green tea, and a Thai donut while I was waiting. The atmosphere is nice, parking can be intense after 6:30 but prior to that there's usually Lots. The waitress was very nice and efficient. I saw a multitude of dishes going out and they all looked fantastic definitely will go back to try more!
The food is excellent here. The prices are reasonable. The service is definitely lacking and the portions are small. For instance, the salad with ginger dressing that comes with any lunch time order is 2 bites and looks terrible when "thrown down" on the table in front of you. The servers don't smile or make eye contact. They almost never check in for more water, or if you need a condiment, or if there is something wrong with your order. It's almost painful to tip, but the food is good, so we do. It's just that the wait staff seems very unhappy to be there (not always (but usually).
