Sap's Ver Thai Cuisine offers authentic Thai dishes in a bright and fun setting. Come try our dishes made with fresh herbs and quality ingredients!
The service was okay. Atmosphere was alright. The restroom could be cleaner. The food was terrible. I ordered the Pad Thai, and I think this was the worst I've ever had. The noodles were dry. The pork was tasteless. The squid was chewy and had a bad smell. The bean sprouts weren't fresh. Their portion size was very generous. The tea kettle was dirty.
Another observation I made was the unsanitary behavior of the servers. Two were setting up the Silverware, and they kept touching and doing their hair and then using the same hands to handle the Silverware.
I however noticed a lot of guests in the restaurant. It's either they don't care about the quality of the food, or they have not had well prepared Thai food.
This was a total disappointment.
Unexpectedly good Thai food! The ambiance was very no-frills and I definitely do think they could update it a bit. The food was delicious - chicken green curry was on point. The drunken noodles had a slightly weird aftertaste but still really tasty. Spice levels were awesome too. The food was actually spicy and incredibly flavorful. Highly recommend, but perhaps more so for takeout. Interiors aside, the service was totally excellent. The server staff was so friendly and warm.
The food was good and a good value. If I tried taking the wife here for date night I'd be in serious trouble. Go with your buddies, leave the wife home. Very generous portions, everybody really enjoyed their meals. I got the F1, pork pad thai. The green onions were my adder.
I went here around 10pm and I absolutely loved the food & the service. They were very attentive, kind, and polite. I got the Pad Thai & it was rich in flavor & more on the sweet side, which I was a fan of. The rice spring rolls were also great; although I think they didn’t had enough shrimp for the price. Overall, the food was great. My only complaint is the environment itself. I am unsure if it was because I went at a late hour or if this is because this restaurant is open until 3am, but the tables didn’t feel clean & neither did the floor, my water cup had residue in it from another drink, and the plate where my food was served did not look clean. If it wasn’t for the cleanliness of the space, I would give this place 5 stars! I will definitely be coming back for a late night dinner or if I’m craving some quick but great Thai food.
Compared to Madam Mams this place has better noodles! I love the flavors it is a lot more savory and has more umami flavors to their noodles. We got the Pad Thai and the pad see ew.
The pad Thai does come with tofu which makes it taste a little sour cause of the fermentation.
The wings are also very good and flavorful. We got the Thai spicy.
I give this a 3 because the soups were terrible. I got the Tom kha and it tasted like sour milk. I was able to exchange it for Tom yum which was just as disappointing cause there was no spices to it and they used the same bowl which I assumed they washed but it had a soapy residue taste to it.
The yellow curry was amazing and so was the mango dessert! Usually madam mam never has the dessert!
Homey atmosphere with awesome food, great place to people watch late at night. Our go-to place for a meal after a show because they are a sit down place open late.
The flavor was great.
Delicious and Authentic!
I ordered masaman curry with EXTRA chicken, and they gave me no chicken at all. When I called, and they said it was "No big deal." Uh... I'll be the judge of that, thank you. Especially when they managed to do the literal opposite of what we ordered.
Been here many times and it’s good every time.
Outstanding!
This is my first experience of this restaurant, I found them by chance trying to find a place with soup to help with a sore throat, and the food is amazing they gave me a side of rice unexpectedly the amount of soup is huge I love it, I would definitely recommend this place.
Las señoritas que atienen soy muy atentas excelente atención
Great Thai food. Pla sarm rod is sweet and tangy and great. Street pad Thai is great, pad see ew is great
Food is delicious and staff was super friendly and helpful. I believe most of their business is take away as it’s a bit run down and shabby inside. Pad Thai and Panang curry salmon were delicious and portions are large too. Good value for the money.
I just wish my stomach was bigger.
Best Thai in South Austin
Really good but very stingy with rice
The sauce on the brussel sprout app was crazy good.
Love these guys. Great food and they make it so easy to pick up take out.
so many vegan options here! loved all the food especially the chive dumplings and coconut ice cream.
Awesome food open late nights
Always a good option
Food is incredible! The drunken noodles were spicy and flavorful while the pad tai was tangy and savory.
It's a big menu so review before going if possible.
The restaurant has a cool design with all the umbrellas on the ceiling but the tables are very old in appearance.
There was a musky smell when I entered the restaurant but maybe that's just an old building thing.
Service was decent. Maybe my waitress was tired or having a bad day.
Next time I'll order to go instead of dining. The food was excellent!
Uhhhhh what did I just eat?
Best Thai food we've had, including West Coast!
The tom kha and Brussel sprouts were both perfect on 12-22-2024 but the mango sticky rice i ordered after my meal took exactly 32 mins :'( I think they should really hire some more people because this happens kind of often and they're busy every single night. Taking off an additional start because the bathroom is just getting worse and worse. They should probably pressure wash the whole thing.
Found a black hair in my soup!
Been here dozens of times. Will continue to do so.
I went there and ordered a dish, what came out was not what I ordered. The server didn’t offer to get me what I had ordered, he just said it “tastes good and he’s had it before”. It was a really disappointing dish to top it all off. Gave this place a second chance and I felt very sick after what I ate.
The cleanliness of this place was poor both times I visited. I will not return.
Decent food with solid portions. I have insider information they peddle H out the back. Unfortunately when I asked for the H-oliday special , they threatened to kick me out. I think the Thai mafia is after me now.
The best curry I’ve had and their spicy wings are good af but you better be ready
Get the Thai special waterfall wings. You won't regret it.
Verrry delicious. Do yourself a favor and do not ask for yours to be made spicy. These folks don't play. They do spice like the beach does sand. Just say mild. 😂 The food is on point.
Great homey Thai comfort food. Super delicious.
Best Thai food in Austin!
Bean thread noodles are a must try. I also like the curries. Bathroom could be cleaner though.
Overall very good preparation and highly recommended for some good Thai food
We visit Sap's 1 to 2 times a month after 10pm. They never disappoint. The service and food are always amazing. Definitely recommended!!!
Don’t sleep on this place. One of my favorite Thai spots in ATX
So yummy. Best Thai food in Austin. I love the tom kha soup or the pad sea ew with some Chilli oil on the side.
Sadly this place has really gone down hill. Used to be among the best in town, but now it’s really inconsistent. Sometimes it’s still great, but now most of the time the food is bland with shrimp overcooked & mushy. Was hoping they’d figure it out & get back on track but after months of disappointment I had to leave a review.
My favorite place in austin, I always come here and love it every time
This could be my new favorite. Really enjoyed everything we ordered. Can't wait to come back and try some new dishes. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. See ya soon again!
The food was good and a good value. If I tried taking the wife here for date night I'd be in serious trouble. Go with your buddies, leave the wife home. Very generous portions, everybody really enjoyed their meals. I got the F1, pork pad thai. The green onions were my adder.
Sap's was once a decent Thai spot; nothing special, a solid 3 stars, maybe 3.5, but this last takeout experience was awful. The pad see ew was completely dry and rubbery. No taste. The rest was an oily highly salty dissatisfying mess (After eating here, I wake up through the night, just to drink water to slake the salt.).
Besides this, they didn't begin preparing the order til we arrived, despite the app saying it was ready. As it is, we went perhaps 2x a year. I think this was the last.
As a rule, we eat a very healthy diet, and that alters your taste buds over time. However, we can still enjoy (occasionally) places like Soha Korean and Family Chinese up north - definitely not healthy!
I just think it's nigh on impossible to find good Thai food in Austin. I'd probably have more success finding good Mexican food in Bangkok.
The service was prompt and good, atmosphere was fine -basic but clean. The food was not good and I normally love Thai, spice and all. This was barely edible, we left most of it. The curry was more spicy and less flavorful, and the chicken was minimal so it was all sauce less protein. Spicy can be typical but to be without true flavor is an issue. The rice was overly greasy, literally left grease coating the plate, and also not flavorful. We will not be returning.
This place is owned by an icon of Austin restaurants, and the food service and atmosphere reflected abundantly reasonable prices exceptional taste, if the owner is there named SAP, he is a marvelous and gracious host, love his food 😁🥝
Terrible food, never had Thai food like this, it's disappointing, waste of money
You definitely don’t go to this place for the atmosphere. It’s one of those places where it looks can be deceiving because the food is great, but both outside and inside could definitely use some livening up.
I had one of the curries which was very good, but not the least bit hot even though I ordered it at a three. And I added chicken to it, but there was very little in there. Overall, this place could be great if they cleaned it up a bit And focus just a little more on the food itself. They also didn’t have mango sticky rice that day because they did have mangoes. This is pretty much a staple and I was shocked that they had run out of mangoes. Almost wanted to suggest that they just walk across the street to Central market to get some more. :)
Delicious food. Had veggies dumplings , Street style Phad Thai and Green Thai curry - all were amazing and reasonable too
The Homemade Peanut Ice Cream is the best! Thank you, Valeria, for the suggestion and the great service. I will definitely be coming back.
Best and delicious Thai food in Austin
Awesome food!!!
I eat at both the north and south locations a lot and I must hate to say that north is way better. Tonight I got delivery of the tiger cry and my steak was a bit overcooked and my “sticky” rice was cut with regular rice. It was probably a 50-50 mix of true glutinous rice and regular rice.
Flavors still good and I would have just shrugged off the steak issue, but come on… diluting sticky rice with regular rice?? Please don’t go down hill. I love yall. 😨
The best of the best in Thai food in the Austin area, in my own opinion. I've had several, but this place is phenomenal! Always stop by this place to eat and to take out, never fails. Want to know the best part? They close at 3am. Perfect place to eat after a show in town!
They close at 3:00 ANWe arrived at 1:14 Am and were informed that they couldn't serve us, despite there being two other people there. If you’re are Black, I'm sorry to say, they won't serve you.
Visiting Austin and our kids took us to Saps. The portions were great and the food was delicious. The Brussel Sprouts were a nice addition to our meal. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was great. Will be back!
Great place ... great vibes
LOVE SAP'S! Try the Tom Ka. It's fire.
This place is almost always a good bet in terms of quality.
The food has almost always been great over the past 4 years I've been eating here. Definitely authentic.
The place has a really great vibe. Great lighting. Not too loud. Good for a date. The service is usually great. Might have to pester the server for extra sauce after they forget. That said they're usually busy so it's understandable.
Coolest thing about this place besides the food is that they stay open until 3am. That's Huge for me.
Slurppp! , ici c'est vraiment très très bon ! Beaucoup de saveurs différentes.
Food was served fast and great.
Neither the spring rolls nor the pad thai tasted as expected. I expected rice noodles for the pad Thai and thicker.
I love Sap's so much! Definitely my comfort Thai spot in town. Really laidback and inviting environment! The foods are delicious! Don't skip the Sap's rolls. They're perfection. My fave menu items are the Noodle Lord, Pad See Ew and Tom Kha. You can adjust the spice level for any item. Service is super fast and friendly. Can't recommend this spot enough!
I’ve made a review here before. I’ve been coming here for well over 10 years and I feel it’s changed many times over the years. Most recently when I’ve had it, it’s been really delicious!!
Great restaurant. A go to for coworkers with dietary restrictions like vegetarian/certain meat exclusions.
Fantastic dishes with lots of spice based heat. I in particular love the catfish dish.
Quick service, in and out in under an hour. Great for work lunch!
One of the better Thai places in Austin. Stays open late. Good taste!
As always, great did, great service!
Wow! Amazing food and incredible service! Best Thai food I’ve had in South Central US! And I’ve been to Thailand many times! Met Snooker the owner and was graciously hosted by him and he took time to talk and get to know my wife and I. So chill and kind! Oh and go early for Happy Hour! The Mai Tais are fresh and tasty!
Real crab rangoons and the waterfall chicken wings were a bit spicy even at level 1. I can't even begin to imagine level 3! I ordered pad Thai with broccoli. However, I think maybe it came with kale or I just got the leaves? Large portions usually enough to share with two people for one plate. Fantastic service! You can order the teas hot or cold, sweet or non-sweet.
Great food all around.
Delicious, fast and great service! What more could you ask for, oh and the price was right! A group of us go there die lunch and will continue to return!
Keep up the good work!
Great authentic Thai food. Friendly staff.
This place slaps! I always order to-go, the inside of the restaurant is cute but it’s in a not-so-cute location. Love their food! Best part is they are open till 3am. Plenty of parking. If this place ever closes I’d be very sad.
Great food and atmosphere, staff is nice and welcoming.
Delicious food and nice atmosphere. Had our family together for dinner and everyone enjoyed it.
I don’t think I’ll be eating here again. I found two hairs already in my salad when I got it to go I just stopped eating. After one, I was like “that’s ok I guess…” and just…gross man. The woman in the front counter was very friendly so service is 5/5, food is not 0/5 wish I could get my money back since it was like $24 with the Thai tea. Thai tea was good but I hope there wasn’t a hair in it.
You either hit or missed on day to day basis visit. There will be days everything is perfect, but a week later, only a couple of things are good. Service is slow. They need more servers during night time after 10pm. They open late, so that is a bonus for Asian food that open late in town.
Delicious yellow curry, and tom kha gai! Definitely will be coming back👍
Best late night spot for Thai food. Great service and is always consistent. Their Tom Kha is my favorite

I however noticed a lot of guests in the restaurant. It's either they don't care about the quality of the food, or they have not had well prepared Thai food.
This was a total disappointment.
Limited vegetarian options but portion size is good.
The appetizers were wonderful! Flavorful and fresh. The entrees were not what we were expecting. Even a "low heat" entree was too spicy to enjoy. We ordered the Pad Thai and it had an odd flavor. We could not finish it either. There was only one server that day who was also taking to go orders--so I did not get a chance to send the meals back and try again. Not sure if this is place we would go to again.
Sometimes this restaurant is very slow with drivers.
I love the thai tea here.
Really good food. And recently they’ve been one of the only really good late-night options too. One recent experience though- the crab wontons were super small. Don’t remember them being that small before. May make me not order them again. Hah
What a wonderful place tucked away in south Austin near Central Market. It is certainly known by the locals because it is always busy. I tried the P17 Chu-Chee Salmon a few months ago and I’m am hooked on it. I asked for it to be served with greens. Sometimes it’s served with spinach and others with bok choy. Delicious!
Their panang pork belly and curry is life changing. Unreal.
This place is a gem. To have food this good open late after returning to Austin on a red-eye flight.. love it. Saps is a welcome return home.
I am a returning customer and every time ever since the first time I come and get food here its really awesome. I am an asian person and I know how authentic it was because asian people runs it and I know its authentic but surprisingly today the food are mediocre, and I notice there is not one asian in sight and the food does not taste authentic anymore... I loved this place, the portion sizes use to be excellent. Now they are way less than what they used to be. For example the cheese rangoon is significantly less as well as the spring roll before it was 3 pcs of shrimp now its 2 shrimps streched out. Needless to say I am disappointed, this used to be one of my favorite spots for authentic Thai food...
Food smelled a bit due to shrimp not cooked properly but shrimp pad Thai was tasty even though it’s a bit undercooked. Service was great..
Finally something open late night in Austin again
Hands down the best Thai food in austin! Ive tried a bunch of different places over the course of the last 8 years trying to find my go-to spot and this is it! Everything is consistent, fresh, and authentic!
Delicious food and wonderful service
Best Thai food around. Can be a long wait for takeout and I have never dined in, but worth the wait.
Food and service were delightful!
Tod mun pla is one of the best I've had from a restaurant. Tom kha has great flavor. Pad see ew is a wonderful selection, but ask for the vinegar peppers with it. Pad thai was a bit sweeter for my liking. Lard na is delicious especially with the chili oil. Pad woon sen has great flavor and you can choose your spice level. Keow Wan luk chin pla is a great choice if you love curry and fish cake. It's great with extra bamboo. The bamboo it's so soft. Pad ped ga prao is spicy but very delicious. If you like spicy, bamboo shoots them the pad ped nor mai is for you and it's delicious.
Large portions, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the pad thai, the flavor was lacking
I have lived in Austin since 2008 and always passed this place heading to work. Finally decided to stop here June 2024 to try the yellow curry. Phenomenal!. This is my new curry place now.
Place is dirty
Food was ok
The bathroom is leaking water all over the floor
Kitchen is dirty too
There was a giant rat running on the legde of the wall and everyone jumped to move to the middle row to avoid it falling on their table...
Yuck
La comida estuvo bien, la persona que nos atendió fue amable, el lugar estaba un poco sucio.
Casual place but very authentic menu. Great vegetarian options. Homemade mango ice cream is amazing.
Amazing northern Thai food. Get the Khao Soi!!
Been coming here for over 20 years. Love this place. Get the Panang Curry
Mango with sticky rice was best. The rest of the items were subjective. Good Thai food for a reasonable price.
Authentic food with a unique menu! Also, their chili paste is delicious!
The five-egg omelet with pork and brown rice is delicious.
Tiger cry is the thing to order. Every one at my table was jealous of my meat. The only thing is annoying reggaeton. Same sounds coming from the kitchen so I’m guessing the inmates are running the asylum.
We just picked up our order and got extra chicken and extra beef in two plates. Doesn’t look any different portion wise. This is disappointing given the cost. The P11 soup is tiny portion as well.
Good food and service even till late night. 👍👍
Some of the most amazing Pad See Ew and Mango Sticky Rice I’ve ever had — but the fresh spring rolls left much to be desired. It was literally just lettuce and mint wrapped in rice paper with two tiny shrimps.
Food quality was not great. Mushroom tasted old in my noodle and pad Thai was saggy
*we got our foods delivered through ubereat instead of dining here
honestly their food was pretty good. we got street pad thai, papaya salad, and chicken+pork satay (unfortunately they messed up our order because we got 4 chicken satays instead of 2 chicken and 2 pork).
street pad thai. i saw on ubereat menu that they had a regular pad thai and a street pad thai. i’m not sure about the difference, but maybe the regular is everything being stir fried together while the street pad thai had shrimps and other ingredients added on top after? not sure. this was quite nice though. the noodles weren’t stuck to each other unlike titaya’s i went to previously. the sauce was very good.
papaya salad. my family enjoyed this. i honestly prefer mango salad over this because papaya has no flavor to me tbh. but nice sauce and nice crunch.
chicken satay. i order 2 pork 2 chicken, and it came with 4 chicken. i’d be happier with my order if it came right because i did want to try the pork. the chicken satay used white meat and was dry, but i’m not putting this on them because maybe that’s how satay is in thai (i had chicken satay in singapore before, and it was so juicy and so good). but yes, dry chicken satay. the sauce that came with it was good though, and the cucumber salad was a nice pairing.
overall, i would get this again for thai food in austin.
Great place to eat every time!
The food is always on point!
