Northern Thai specialties featuring market-fresh ingredients from a food trailer with picnic tables.
Dee Dee has some unique Thai food. The style is definitely different than most Thai places as I thought the flavors were less on the sweet side. I got their red curry and the mango sticky rice which I definitely recommend. The only downside of Dee Dee is that their wait times can be long and their hours are kind of strange.
edit 2: i think it’s agree to disagree. 1) i did not order the side of regular sticky rice. receipt below. 2) your thai mango sticky rice tasted bad. the mango that you called “perfect” is literally overripe. ratings have changed. 3) need to repeat this again. THE FACT THAT I STILL REMEMBER HOW BAD YOUR THAI MANGO STICKY RICE TASTED AFTER 3 MONTHS JUST SHOWS HOW BAD IT IS.
also need to repeat this again. i’ve been to thailand for like 5 times, and the thai mango sticky rice there is 100 times better than this. time to get a couple more local thai people to taste your mango sticky rice. i know as a local vietnamese, even the most authentic vietnamese in austin cannot make a near authentic bun bo hue. the same goes for your thai mango sticky rice. again, would not ever recommend a friend here.
edit: i’m trying to make my review with a funny tone but was called to have written a “lengthy angry review” :( I came here on 7/17/24 for your amazing information. I think the fact that I still remember how much I disliked this mango sticky rice after over 3 months shows how bad it is. Glad for those who like the sticky rice here but not for me unfortunately.
Alright who said that their mango sticky rice is amazing? Maybe it’s just me, but honestly this is probably my least favorite thai mango sticky rice EVER. As someone who has been to Thailand multiple times and has had A LOT of mango sticky rice, there are SO MANY better thai mango sticky rice than this. People raved about their sticky rice, and I had to wait many weeks to get it due to the weird operating hours and I was LET DOWN.
The mango is SO OVERRIPE. IT IS TOO OVERRIPE. I think an ideal mango sticky rice would have soft but not too soft mango. And, here’s the worst part. They didn’t even cook their sticky rice with coconut milk???? The sticky rice is supposed to have that coconut aromatic scent that you can smell miles away. One more thing, you’re supposed to cook the separate coconut milk in pandan leaves so that it smells and tastes better. Their coconut milk is dumped straight from a can.
Not good. Would not recommend a friend here. I make better mango sticky rice to be honest.
Wow! I heard this place from YouTube and they are definitely worth the hype. Every dish looked so simple, yet so good. This is really some authentic Thai food you won’t be able to find elsewhere. You can taste the love and passion they put in everything!
The wait can get a little long, so I recommend to pre-order pick up online.
Super recommended!
Food truck serving country-style northeastern Thai food. They only take online orders, and they advise you to pre-order well ahead of time due to long wait times. That way you can choose your desired pick up time.
The first order we placed was for Pad KaProw and the Gaeng Daeng. Their mango stick rice was “sold out” earlier in the day when we placed our first order, but when we checked back later it was back in stock and we were able to order it for the same pickup time.
The Pad KaProw consists of spicy minced pork, jasmine rice, cucumber, a fried egg, and fried basil, and it comes with a spicy dipping sauce on the side (nam pla prik). The Gaeng Daeng is a spicy red curry with chicken, eggplant, melon squash, basil, and it comes with a generous side of jasmine rice. My overall thought for both the Pad KaProw and the Gaeng Daeng was: SO SPICY. Too spicy for my taste, and it made the dishes inedible. To be fair, they let you choose your spice level, and we stuck with the “normal” spice level, so this was our mistake. I would highly advise choosing the lowest spice level the first time.
Luckily, the experience was saved by the mango sticky rice. This is a wonderful dessert that consists of a huge, ripe, delicious mango, sitting on a bed of coconut milk sticky rice, with a coconut milk sauce on the side. It saddens me that this dessert is seasonal, because it was perfect. Get it while the mangos are in season!
Parking is tricky. They have a few parking spots in the front, and a small parking lot in the back. It was busy during the week, so I imagine it’s pretty hard to find parking on weekends.
We finally tried Dee Dee's and was wondering what took us so long. The food was exceptional and tasty. I had the Om Gai (rustic herbal chicken soup), which was so delicious, and my husband had their famous Pad Kaprow, which was also amazing. We were out of luck for their mango sticky rice but now we will definitely wait for that. We had approximately a 30 minute wait after ordering online but it's fully worth the wait.
Dee-Dee is a great place for Thai street food in Austin. They use fresh ingredients straight from the farm, which makes their food even more delicious. We tried their Pad Kapow and loved it. The rice was full of flavors, and the spicy stir-fried pork went perfectly with it, along with the fried basil. Just be prepared to wait a while; we waited around 45 minutes for our dish.
Been eating here regularly since it opened. I usually get the same thing which is the Tofu stir fry with an egg on top. It's delicious and the portion size is perfect. The owner is very friendly as well.
I came here just to try the sticky rice, and it was probably one of the best mango sticky rice I've had. It has the perfect balance of flavors and it wasn't too sweet. I also got the Pad KaPow. It was so yummy, and I especially liked the fried basil. However, I was a little bit disappointed in the portion size for the price. They only accept online orders, and the wait time was about 30 mins when I arrived, so order in advance if you don't want to wait!
I am addicted to the red curry, and the pad kapow(especially the pad kapow), and the moo ping, and the papaya salad, and the om gai... basically the entire menu.
It is spicy, but that's just how it's supposed to be. This is one of my wife and I's favorite places.
Delicious food, chill place to hangout and eat. And the staff were super friendly! I will definitely try to go again.

Best Thai food in Austin, hands down. Limited menu, but always consistent and full of flavor. You can't go wrong with Dee Dee.
The food here is SO good! I can’t say enough about it! It’s flavorful, priced well, and the portions are so big! I can specifically say the red curry is the best red curry I’ve ever had. The mango sticky rice is to die for too! I also experienced such good service :,) (we ordered mango sticky rice at the last minute but we were given it with our order instead so we didn’t have to wait which was very nice). 12/10.
I can even say that the food was so good we still enjoyed it in classic Austin 95 degree weather and humidity lol!
Amazing authentic flavors, long wait but well worth it

Always on point, and it’s a beautiful spot to enjoy yourself.
This place probably doesn’t need a review.
I’ll be honest, I’ve been sleeping on this because of the long wait time and the preorder. Considering it’s in my neighborhood, I finally bit the bullet.
I can empathize with them now and why it’s in place.
The mango sticky rice was out of the damn world, perfectly picked fruit and a good balance of sweet and salt. I’ve only gotten the om gai here but I love the bite in the veggies and the fragrant herbs!
The food is too damn good that they have to cut people off with a line to keep it this way. Although, I’d love to have all the options I can afford. Sometimes, waiting for things helps savoring it a teeny bit better.
Love it, I’ll be back.
Their Papaya salad and mango sticky rice was out of the world. My disappointment is with the menu and how limited protein option it offers. They have very limited items and we tried the red curry and it was below average. Their Laab Moo was also below average. The items with pork/chicken are strictly made with respective protein and they don’t accommodate any replacement. I don’t expect all items from menu to be at its best. But when you have very limited items and that too with limited protein option which restrict people from trying out those items, I would expect the other food items to be worth trying but they were not.
The best Thai food in Austin. I am from Thailand and I ate Thai food in Thailand all of my life. They make amazing Pad Kapow, exactly the way locals love it.
A pro tip is order it in advance. No surprise they always have a line so I would order it like 30 mins before my intended pick up time.
It's Northeastern Thai food so expect different spices and aromatic vegetables. If you don't like spicy your options are limited, and it's a very different kind of spice than most Thai restaurants. The owners are kind and service was great.
Food was great. Papaya salad was fresh and flavorful, Pad Kaprow was perfectly seasoned, Moo Ping skewers were tender and delicious, and the Mango & Sticky Rice was the perfect blend of sweet, ripe mangos with the sweet and saltiness of the sticky rice. Order that morning and reserve your time or you will be waiting a long time and their best stuff sells out. Open seating and have a craft beer with dinner in a cute patio area. There was trivia going on when we were there. Would highly recommend is you are in the area. Parking was a little difficult to figure out, but we parked along the street in the neighborhood next-door and walked over very easily.
Very tasty food. The pad kapow was delightfully spicy and seasoned so well. I’m not normally a fan of ground or minced meat, but this was so good I would go back for it. The red curry was good too, huge portion of it. On the milder side of curries I’ve had, but no complaints. The chicken was well cooked and the inclusion of Brussel sprouts was nice. The mango sticky rice was delicious, very generous with the mango.
Atmosphere is super pleasant. Lots of picnic benches and outdoor lights. Has a fun, chill energy. Several people bring their dogs, so things are very laid-back.
I ordered the pungent (in a very good way) papaya salad with crab. Absolutely fantastic! Extremely fresh papaya. I ordered it half spicy and it had a kick. Dee dee is generous with the sauce so you can shred some of your own papaya, carrots, or Daikon into it too the next day. Note: for takeout they separate the sauce from the shreddage. Again: this is a spicy dish. I highly recommend the lowest setting for this one lol. The 8-chili would be a challenge. Can't wait to come back and eat everything else. Thank you to the team for giving me a free thing of sticky rice--it was needed as my lips are STILL tingling in the writing of this review.
Absolutely best ka prow hands down! Remember to place an order in advance. That’s the only downside. You can’t just walk in, order food and eat. Amazing food though!
Radio bar itself is pretty cool. Lots of seating and a good bar.
Amazing Thai food! They can make it super spicy if you want
Great food truck and area to eat with a bar you can bring drinks outside from.
The Thai food here is the real deal made with care. Very tasty, better than I’ve had anywhere else in Texas.
Petty good Thai food
An Austin treasure!
The best Thai food I have ever had…hands down.
Looove the mango sticky rice and the ka pow! Also got the Om Gai during the cold days. Recently tried their new special Gai Palo and it hit the spot. It so much comfort food and it’s a mix of the chinese five spice dish and viet version of this. I like this a lot better cause the sauce for the rice makes it more fresher and light. I wish this stays on the menu longer!!
Best Thai in town! Don’t know how in the world they make everything so yummy!
Delicious!
This is one of the truly great food vendors in the city and you can't beat the surroundings. I highly recommend.
Still the Best Thai food in Austin. The best.
Some of the best Thai food I have had! Highly recommend, I go here at least once a week!!
The exceptional staff and flavorful dishes left a lasting impression. A slight improvement in the ambiance would make this restaurant an absolute gem.
Most authentic Thai we've found. Get all the extras and pile on those birds eyes!
This place is so dang good it ruined normal Thai food for me. I moved away from Austin for 3 years, and twice a week I would think about their food. This place deserves a medal of honor. I want this place to officiate my wedding, it’s just so dang good.
Absolutely delicious, amazing, lovingly well-prepared delights that will tickle your taste buds and make you shed a tear! A bit spicy, so level down if you are sensitive. I could eat here every day of my life. The food is insanely tasty.
Their sticky rice and mango is fantastic
This is the best Thai food I've ever had!!!
Had the pad kra pow (pictured) twice while in Austin along with the laab & mango sticky rice! Super flavorful and spicy. It was oily but I worked around it cause it’s so flavorful. Had to take it to go cause we got eaten alive by bugs in the outdoor area. Someone suggested maybe wait to put the fish sauce on as that was an attractor. Definitely give them a try!
Perfeito.
Heard about this place from Eater. I had the Om Gai. It was, in fact, fantastic. There was this really interesting flavor that I couldn't place, and the smell was fascinating. I'd love to go back and ask them what ingredients they use so I can identify that flavor.
I might get the Om Gai less spicy next time since the normal Thai heat was a bit hot for me to taste the other flavors - on the other hand I enjoyed the heat, so might get it normal spicy again next time.
Also had the mango sticky rice. It was delicious, as mango sticky rice usually is, and I appreciated the solid portion of mango and rice. I would ask for a second container of coconut milk, though, as the one they gave out wasn't quite enough.
Real authentic Thai food, served just like how they serve it in Thailand as street food with the sticky rice in a plastic sleeve and fresh herbs. We got the laab and the mango sticky rice which were both as good as what we’ve eaten in Thailand!
Only thing is you might be waiting up to 30 mins during peak hours, but it was nice to get a drink and hang around.
We’ll definitely be back!
10/10 must Austin eats
Best Thai food in Austin!!! We have ordered almost all the items on the menu. Mango sticky rice and pad kapow are my favorites! They are amazing!!!!
love the pad kapow, very good with amazing service! been following them around austin for years!!
Very cute joint, dogs are typically sitting around with owners working and vibing with friends.
The QR codes on the tables are deceiving, it says a table number when you order than they don't actually deliver to your table. We waited half an hour to learn they just put the drinks out on the bar. So 2/5 for service, but everything else was great.
Groovy set up. Trailers with food choices on the same property as a great bar with live music. It feels as if you’re out in the country side, yet right in town. The lucky neighborhood gets the food, coffee and cocktails just outside their doorstep without car’s parking in the street as they have plenty of parking for the business. So glad we tried it out.
It's pretty spicy here, but you can't go wrong. I eat here regularly and love it.
I got the Pad Kaprow and Thai tea from the coffee shop on site. Pad Kaprow was not very flavorful and the level 1 spice wasn't as intense as described on their website. The Thai tea was delicious. Also got the mango sticky rice and it was a good portion.
Online order only and they recommend ordering 2 hours early. This makes it hard to time. Our food was ready earlier than predicted and was starting to cool down when we arrived. There's outdoor seating with limited heated areas.
Omg I’m eating my chicken stew as I write this review! I am always so happy to find a great Thai place and this is it! I’ll need to try their other items on the menu! My new fave Thai place!
We love DEE DEEs! Their food is always constantly good!
Had the tofu stir fry. Amazing meal!
Fresh, great ingredients, healthy and tasteful. Only issue is that dont open enough hours and have to preorder
If you like Thai food this is a must add to your list.
This review is not about the food, but about the owner and how rude he was. we reached there only to find out that they only accept online order. we sat down to order using our phone. when we tried to check out, i kept getting multiple errors about google pay and then a cryptic message about invalid sku. i tried multiple times, removed everything from my cart and tried again and this time, got a message that the food will be available only the next business day. after wasting about 12-15 minutes, i walked upto the food truck and told him how I have been facing issues ordering. He said that they were running out of food and only two items from the menu are available. I told him that I couldn't place order even for those items. He then said he takes orders at the window too and when i took out the credit card to pay for it, i told him if I knew that, i wouldn't have wasted my time. He acknowledged that he saw my family and us struggling to order, but didn't offer any assistance. with my credit card out, i told him that if you accept orders at the counter, why would you put a sign saying online orders only. At this point, the owner got angry and told me that he is not going to sell me food anymore. He started playing the victim saying that he wouldn't let anyone disrespect him. I am not sure what triggered him to be so rude, but if anyone was disrespectful, it was him.
you can check my online reviews, i have never ever posted a review like this.
Reply to owner:
the sign clearly says Online Orders Only. And you clearly knew we were there to order and you knew you were going to close the online order. Yet, you offered no assistance. I was ready to order with credit card on my hand, there was no aggression on my part. I merely asked why would you put a misleading board in-front when i could have ordered at the window 15 minutes back. At this point your ego got the better yourself and you refused service to a customer.
Online only ordering, which didn't even work. Got harassed by the owner when trying to order in person after asking why it is online order only.
Edit, response to owner:
The question we asked was why it is online order only when in person orders were able to be taken, especially since the online system did not work.
We treated you with respect, card in hand, and you were the one who decided to refuse service after we asked a question. Asking a question is not disrespectful, the arguing only ensued after asking why our service was refused.
You say you don't refuse service lightly but it seemed like you wanted to go on a little temper tantrum. It's a shame, I was very excited to try the food.
I ate here while at radio and it was so fabulous. Incredibly delicious, fast, and they were super friendly. Apparently it's super fresh and natural too which was awesome
I've been a customer since the food truck opened on the East Side then changed locations on the East to now be at Radio City. Dee Dee specifically Justin and Lakana the owners provide the same friendly service and quality food they have for years. Hands down they have created one of the top food truck experiences in Austin.... A Must Try for all locals and guest
A must-try. Not only is each dish authentic and utterly deliscious, their food has that coveted element so many in Austin desire: fresh home-grown food. Do yourself a favor and get that good good!
Every meal I’ve had here has been fantastic. The Om Gai and the Lab Moo are my favorites so far.
Great food and service! Definitely would revisit again! I kind of wish the place is in an area where no one is fighting for parking spots but it's fine.
Straight GAAAAASSSSSS!! Tofu stir fry was cooked to perfection ate it before I could snap it. Rice must’ve been steamed with wisdom and love. Mango sticky is a must. Don’t hesitate. This is your dank vegan option you’ll remember forever. Whole place is a vibe bonus. The boys will be back 🙏🏼⚡️❤️🔥
Extraordinary. I had the Som Tum and the Om Gai. Both were bursting with flavor and the highest quality ingredients. Be careful if you’re not familiar with Thai spice or just a spice wimp - this place takes Thai spice level seriously and the base level and lowest levels of spice will be too much for some. I only wish this place had a chicken option for the Pad Krapao and Laab since I am trying to avoid pork.
One of the best and authentic Thai cuisine in Austin area!
Online ordering only so make sure you are good with that. This a food truck parked next to Radio Coffee and Beer. There is some outdoor seating.
I had the Pad KaPow. Let me say the spice level is no joke. Normally if I go to a Thai restaurant I will order 2 or 3 stars. I can take some amount of spice and be fine. On the Dee Dee ordering website it said something to the effect of “1 is the lowest level but it’s still spicy”. I ordered 1.
It was actually just about perfect for me. I would say it’s what I would expect for a 3 or 4 star dish somewhere else. Just a warning though. I don’t know if I would have liked it if it was much spicier. It was really good and would be willing to go back and try something different.
Good vibe but food is just normal. Pork rice is fine. Ordered Papaya salad. Give us regular salad and 3 piece of cucumber instead. Btw I throwed up after went home. It might be the salad which is very sour and spicy that bothered my stomach.
Asian women in Austin killing the food scene. Love this spot.
Both my partner and I loved their spot on spicy level at the ‘Thai level’ for the isaan som tom.
Pad KaPow is a bit oily, but the herbs and sticky rice can carry the weight of the dish. I would recommend going up in spicy level for this one.
Laab Moo is definitely a bit salty but the balance is reachable w the sticky rice. Also recommend going up in spicy level.
I had the pork dish and let me tell you folks, she was salty and oily as hell. I lived in Thailand for a while and don’t recall this level of salt/oil. It was still fairly good but I don’t think it rises above pretty standard fair and it seems over hyped.
Authentic Thai food
Our food was delicious
Better then I’ve had in New York. Very good flavors.
Pretty good. I've been getting them more lately.
Food is good and spicy. Beer is great. Open air dinning at it's best
Everything here is good.
Food was kinda dry and didn’t have much taste. The Pad Kapow and Laab Mo was bland and felt like the same thing, just slightly varied in taste. The food didn’t feel or look all that special. The mango sticky rice was very good though.
The BEST most authentic Northern Thai food I have ever tasted outside of Thailand
Love this spot! I sometimes go to Radio Coffee & Beer just so that I can have some food from Dee Dee. The food truck is owned by a really sweet family and the ingredients are high quality. All of their entrees are packed with flavor and are decently sized portions. Most importantly, the Mango & Sticky Rice dish here is absolutely AMAZING and one of my favorite desserts in ALL of Austin (seasonal because of the mango, of course). Give this place a try and support local!
THE BEST ka prow I have ever tasted.
The jasmine rice is also really good and perfectly cooked — the rice can make or beak a dish too imo.
Don’t go here if you aren’t tech savvy. You can only order online and if you can’t or your wifi isn’t working you can’t order and they will not help you. Very rude guess it’s good that you don’t have to help customers when they can’t order online.
What a great, affordable place to get any kind of food, any time of day and sit outside and visit with friends you haven't seen for a while. I'll be back again.
This is the best Thai food I’ve ever eaten. The chicken stew is amazing, and that mango dessert is unbelievable.
Good food! If you like spice get at least extra extra spicy 👌
AMAZING FOOD.
Love this place. Every time we're here the food is always excellent. Spicy, but flavorful. Don't skip the mango sticky rice. You will regret it if you don't!
The hype is real. Make sure to pre-order!
What the heck happened? The the pad kapow use to be off the chart! Been to Thailand to many times to count, and eaten everywhere across the nation. Dee Dee’s “historically” pad kapow was insanely exceptional!!! Ordered three of them today expecting the same, but grossly let down. I will return once again to see if this is a fluke, but if it is just straight up bland like it was today, I will hang my head so low, but remember the glory they once provided.
I can see that both husband and wife bust their butts when working, every time I visit, which further saddens me, because it appears they care. Please Dee Dee…… do not let your quality slip. Stay true to what you once provided. I travel 1.5 hours for the excellence I once knew for many times you have provided, what we had today was simply some than less than a generic flavor that I could have rudimentarily fixed up at home. PLEASE, bring that magic back!!!!!
I wanted to try this place since I saw their videos on YouTube. It's hard to find authentic food and the hunt for good thai food in Austin is real.
So far, out of 5 restaurants tried, there's only 1 I would go back to.
It is located in a very popular spot Radio Coffee and cocktails, where you can come enjoy drinks, a nice and spacious patio and 3 food trucks including Dee Dee.
We tried the famous papaya salad (with the pungent crab which might be too strong for some but I personally love it!), the laab moo and the Mango sticky rice.
Everything was packed of flavors and super fresh. Warning : it👏is👏spicy👏!
Even going down from 8 chilies to 6 chilies for the papaya salad, it made me cry...
Make sure to have a drink near by or you will be dying while eating.
I got the Pad KaPow, and POW 💥 it’s like a basil and pork fire cracker for your mouth. They said a 30min wait but my order was ready in 20 & it was plentttty of food for one. I’m looking forward to coming back
Fantastic Thai food. This food truck deserves all of its praise in the media. Swing by Radio for trivia but get there early for parking and for dinner from Dee Dee.
Literally the best in Austin.
To find what is hands down the best Thai food I've ever had as a truck in the Radio seating area is a wild experience. To have again what I ate last night, I would gladly pay twice what they're charging here.
Service was quick, even for a busy Saturday evening, and food was ready before their estimated wait time of 30 minutes. I'm straight up baffled that we're 2 years into a global pandemic and it looks like some folks reviewing still can't figure out the mobile ordering stuff — it worked perfectly in this case and was no more confusing than any other order I've made.
Just one note for new customers: if you *doubt* that you cannot handle the default spice, I recommend you opt for the lesser-spicy version instead of pushing through. The default spice was perfect for me, but my husband had to finish his beer to help him through his meal (despite this he loved it and is eager to try more).
My ABSOLUTE favorite place to go. The Larb Moo is transcendent. It is fresh and it has beautiful spice to it. The experience is streamlined and fast. It's situated at radio so you have live music and a nice place to get a glass of wine with your meal!
Some of the best Thai food Ive ever had
The Pad KaPow is incredible. Also recommend the Moo Ping- and the laab if you're good with spicy!
Online order only, which was kind of annoying but I get it since they run out of food fast.
Ordered the pad kapow, laab moo, skewers, and mango sticky rice. The pad kapow and laab moo were SO SALTY. I'm unsure if this is how Thai food is supposed to be, but I was straight up not having a good time eating the main entrees. The skewer was not bad, tastes like a standard pork skewer. The mango sticky rice was okay, didn't really wow me. I prefer my mango sticky rice with some sort of crunch element, such as toasted sesame seeds.
Overall, overrated and overhyped place unless you enjoy your food on the saltier side. I'd come back for the mango sticky rice maybe.
Had heard incredible things about this place from so many others and was so hoping it would meet the hype and it exceeded it. The moo ping skewer is a must have. The owners are really kind and working hard to meet the heavy demand for the food while keeping prices very reasonable. Excited to go back
Amazing authentic Thai food. So good I keep coming back for more!
Wonderful food selection!
We’ve left Austin, was a loyal customer to DD for 2.5 years. #1 Thai food in Austin and converted us to Som Tum for life. We even visited Bangkok while we lived in Austin and Dee Dee stands up to the best there. Incredible consistency in taste and great authenticity. We miss it the most of all things ATX
It was ah-mazing and I am so glad I ordered Om Gai. I enjoyed it so much I took some home. Get anything off their menu! They don't disappoint.
Super good! Fresh! Worth the wait / $
This review is not about the food.
Really bad customer service there. I mean, really, really bad. The guy there screamed at me when I politely tried to let him know I had a pretty big issue with their new policy and would likely be posting this review. I mean, could he have just said: "Hey - what's the issue you have, maybe I can resolve it for you?" It would have taken a sentence. It would have taken a better attitude. But no. His default setting was just to scream at me.
So I'm afraid I will not be reviewing the food. Maybe it's good, maybe it's bad, but why would I go somewhere, or recommend people to go somewhere where the proprietor screams at potential customers.
Caveat: People who enjoy watching Kitchen Nightmares may enjoy this place better than me.
(My issue with their policy wasn't even that big of a deal, and from the venom he was screaming at me it seemed like he already had alternative options in place, so he could easily have avoided this review if it wasn't for the yelling. They just have a pretty annoying sign up that says 'Online Orders Only' - ok, fine. What about the folks (like my elderly dad) who don't know how to use their smart phone, or like my brother who is apparently allergic to cell phones, or to people who can't afford them. Or like me whose smartphone's internet goes out both mysteriously and regularly. So I have stress when looking at that sign, since I'm a rule-follower type. How about 'Online Ordering Encouraged Please' instead?)
Pad Thai for the win! 🤤
Favorite spot in Austin!!! My favorite lamb moo spiced down!! But I’ve tried almost all the menu and everything is delicious 🤤
Food was so good!! Not your typical Thai eatery with pad thai, pad see ew, and curry but every thing was unique and delicious! Mind the spice!
Dee Dee-licious!!! After eating at Dee Dee's I feel like I'm at the forefront of what one day will be an awesome restaurant. Love the origen story behind the concept.
Delicious. Went last night with friends. It was my first time and I did not get disappointed. Thank you for all you hard work and sharing Thailand with us!!
Ah May Zing.
Absolutely delicious, and always considerably spicier than I remember. Continues to impress each visit.
Not sure how anyone reviews DEE DEE as anything less than 5 stars.
In reading some of the reviews it seemed “spicy” was an issue.......
Or....”they were sold out.”
Or “there weren’t any good options to what I was expecting that should be available”.........
The integrity of the food at DEE DEE is comparable to the best in Austin. And executed with savoir faire.
Order ahead of time online. DEE DEE should be sold out by the time they officially open.
Delicious mango sticky rice and Pad Ka-pow!
Ridiculously spicy. Order medium spicy Pad KaPow
Love this place! Got the Pad KaPow and Laab Moo at the 'less spicy' level. Usually I get medium-spicy foods, this was the maximum spiciness level I could handle, but absolutely worth it. I'm sure their standard spicy is really hot!
Really rich, intense flavor. The sticky rice was the perfect texture.
I also got the mango sticky rice--great for cooling your tongue after a spicy meal. Mangoes were soft and sweet, it was some of the best mango sticky rice I've had in Austin.
It's popular, so I highly suggest ordering ahead of time--the online ordering time estimate was very exact.
I had the om gai “stew”. So beautiful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. However it’s not real a stew and more of a soup. I suppose they call it a stew to justify paying $12 - not sure. But honestly the chef is amazing and she nailed the flavors. I imagine this is what real Thai food tastes like in Thailand.
The mango sticky rice here is my absolute favorite! The pad kapow is also great and the serving sizes are definitely large! Highly recommend Dee Dee
I’ve been to Dee dees many times when I live in Austin Texas, I miss larb moo so much and couldn’t find anything better in New York, hopefully see you guys soon :)
Preordering works well! Laab moo had great spicy and tangy flavors. Two solid, savory skewers in the moo ping order, and the dipping sauce was a nice complement. Sticky rice went well with all of my orders.
I hate to just parrot everyone else, but it's pretty dang authentic tasting; about as close as you can get in Texas. If you live nearby, it's a must-visit place. Though I really don't think it's worth going too far out of your way for. Regarding the spice level, their "normal" is supposed to be "Thai spicy", but it's kinda not. If you want real Thai spicy you have to up it up a notch, which they do make easy to do. The area where the food truck is set up has a great atmosphere and I really recommend sitting there to enjoy the meal. One more thing to note, is that they give you sticky rice (gluttonous rice) instead of your normal Jasmine. Generally it's considered a step up, but not everyone will like it.
Finally real Thai food!
Great sticky rice! Not a lot of options for non pork unless you order in advance. Good food.
Wonderful food trailer located at Radio. Believe then when they say something is spicy, not for weak palettes!
The menu is short since it's a food truck but everything on there is phenomenal. Wait times are long but you can pre-order. My life would be complete if they ever open a brick and mortar but for now I will enjoy an impeccable meal from DEE DEE food truck!
Though we (a group of 8) had been waiting there for about 2 hours attacked by aggressive mosquitos, the foods Dee Dee serves made us no regret. You can simply tell the freshness of the ingredients they used. It is the best authentic Thai food I'd ever had after moving to Austin, TX for 3yrs. The seasoning is right on the spot. And the service is excellent. I could tell they are very considerate person from how they had their food packed. If you love Thai food, you do not want to miss it. We had tried almost everything on the menu and everything is soooooo good. Hope would thinking to come to Cedar Park in the very near future.
Got the Moo Ping and Pad KaPow
✅Moo Ping was good and flavorful
✅⭐Pad KaPow was A+, especially after mixing in the bit of chili sauce they give you on the side. For the price, this was one hell of a flavorful dish.
Fantastic Thai food. Can't wait to try more here.
I would love to see their hours were expanded- I've been wanting to try this place for months but haven't been able to be around when they're open until now.
Legit thai food!
Spiced as it should be and flavored as it is!!
My husband ordered extra extra spicy Laab Moo and he loved it!!
You may think the rice quantity is less but it balances the spice perfectly.
We ordered at 7.50 and the pick up time was 9.05.
The food was ready at 9.10.
I am not sure why the so it took more than an hour but I am assuming they might be short staffed or too many orders as usually radio bar has 3 food truck but one is closed for a few days.
They only have one vegetarian item on their menu.
I ordered the krapow at spice level 2x and it was amazing - one of the best Thai meals I've ever had. I was miffed at first due to the long wait, but patience paid off. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that loves Thai food and/or spicy food.
Have you ever wondered what going a round with Mike Tyson would feel like? How about faceplanting off the highest of high driving jumps with your mouth wide open?
Well, now you can.
When Dee Dee warns you that the food is spicy, they're not playing around.
Everything is super delicious, and they don't overextend by having too much on the menu. They have a tight focused menu; it's all great and they don't pander.
Grab a beer at radio while you're at it, it won't help but maybe you can pretend.
Don't be a bro, be conservative with your choice of spiciness until you know what you're up against, and enjoy some fantastic food.
Legit Thai food but limited menu. Thai papaya salad has good flavor and actually spicy🔥. Right by veracruz tacos and radio coffee and bar so options for drinks and other food. Cool outdoor space with benches and string lights. Parking available out back.
Pad Kra Pow is so addictive. I dream about it in my sleep! I usually get the least spiciest option and also have to add an extra jasmine rice to it as the spice is too much for me to handle, but so good!
Mango stickiness rice is also great. Love this place.
Authentic Thai food , so DELICIOUS 🤤!! Great and fast service !
The food was good and flavorful but was a bit greasy. But the spices were good
Dee Dee is my all-time ATX fav. Their Northeastern Thai cuisine took what I thought I already knew about my favorite cusine and opened up my world to even better tastes, spices, ingredients and cooking techniques to a higher level. Their pad ka pow is so good that I'm afraid to try anything else. I urge you to try it with an extra egg. Amazing food, impressive Family and story.
I grew up eating lao/thai food my whole life and never enjoyed eating it out to eat because it was never as good, but this was on par with my parents from the motherland, and the most authentic lao/thai you will ever eat.
Ordered the Pad Ka prow. Had great flavor. They give you a fair amount of meat. Egg was cooked perfectly. Sides of chili / fish sauce were good. I love that they let you order extra basil for 50 cents. I look forward to trying their Laab and mango sticky rice.
Update: ordered the mango sticky rice and it’s amazing! Best I’ve had outside Thailand! Highly recommend.
Best Thai in town !
