Tea and Thai food
I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for a long time. It did not disappoint. My basil chicken was so tasty and full of flavor. My husband's pad Thai tasted very authentic. I didn't want to stop eating it, but I was full and was able to take some home. We also shared a nice pot of tea. The servers were very nice, fast and professional. I can't wait to go back. I hope they will still be around.
Excellent experience and well proportioned for the price. Had lunch today and it was excellent. Polite staff and excellent food makes a great combo…Per the staff groceries are bought fresh daily for the best quality food available. Definitely a local date night spot for the wife and I…
The best Thai restaurant in the Upstate! TeaStar is always consistent - excellent food and service! We love the Pad Thai, Yellow Curry, Mango Sticky Rice & Fresh Rolls! If you’re in the mood for an exceptional cocktail definitely try the Raspberry Lemon martini! Do yourself a favor and give them a try. You won’t be disappointed!
Don’t get me wrong, the food is actually great and has authentic flavours but the portion is unbelievably small. I ordered for me and my husband and the total came out to $45, I could finish this whole meal by myself if I wanted to because of how tiny it was. My husband told me to just keep eating while he orders from somewhere else because he felt like he would be eating off of me :/
First time at this establishment. Food delicious. Only warning would be added spice level. Choice is 1-3. In other Thai restaurants 1-5. I usually choose 2, chose 1. 1 spicy enough! Will return.

Had a beautiful meal on patio. Sound of fountain. Chicken satay to start and pineapple fried rice for main meal. Delicious.
The Tom Kah, green curry, and boba tea were so so good. Best Tom Kah I've had!
Really good Boba tea but really overpriced food and kind of mid
Great place to linger over lunch. Wonderful Service. Food is fantastic. Quiet place if you like to talk while eating.
I’m quite surprised this place has such good reviews- Thai Basil is far better, but did just open again, so perhaps people were settling for less in the meantime? We went and the food was unappetizing, and the service lackluster. It’s also just a really weird vibe inside. I do kind of think it’s white people’s favorite Thai food 🥴 and I’m as white as they come!
Their coconut boba is JAMMIN 🔥
Good food good service. If you like spicy hot food it's the place to go. You can get as hot as you want. The bartender is awesome.
Third time here. In my opinion, fairly pricey for lunch. My entree was 30% more than last time. Vegetables were mushy like they’d been on a steam table.
The absolute best Thai with the freshest ingredients. Lake and Joe pour their hearts into every meal. The lettuce wraps are my favorite. Heat 1-3 is a must.

Edit: I feel compelled to share my experience from today. This isn't my first or second visit to this restaurant; I've frequented it many times, always enjoying the excellent food. Today, I went with my family—my parents and my three children (ages 5, 2, and a newborn). We deliberately chose a less busy time, (Wednesday at 3 pm), to avoid crowds. As expected, the kids were being playful, and unfortunately, a lemonade was spilled. The senior lady tasked with cleaning the floor responded very rudely, expressing frustration at having to clean up. Despite our sincere apologies for the accident, her demeanor remained harsh. Even when my mother apologized, the lady didn't acknowledge it. It was disheartening that she couldn't even respond when my 5-year-old asked if she was okay. She only stated that the floor was wet once she finished cleaning. While the food quality remains consistently good, there's a need for more compassion when interacting with families, especially children, at restaurants. Parents deserve the opportunity to dine out and unwind without facing rudeness because kids will be kids. If the establishment prefers not to cater to families with children, it should be clearly communicated, allowing us to take our patronage elsewhere.
It was a wonderful experience!
Today I tried TeaStar for the first time after a friend recommended the restaurant to me. I tried the Pad Thai and it was AMAZING!!!! The dish was rich in flavor and the ingredients had a very fresh taste to them. The service was great and the outdoor patio was cute and relaxing. I only wish that the name of the restaurant suggested that food is sold there because I’ve been passing it multiple times per week for 3 years and I thought they only sold tea. I will definitely return for more delicious food.

Awsome place, an awesome atmosphere, an awesome staff
I had a wonderful experience today at Tea Star after my morning walk! Had driven by a few times and finally took the time to walk in and order some Tom Kha and a shrimp wonton appetizer. Everything was so fresh and delicious including my boba tea. Please stop by ASAP!
Such a gem! Great food , great service, and great atmosphere! Love this place!!
Highly recommend!!! Excellent food, great teas, and good service!!!
Havnt tried the food but it looks great kids like their tea.
I really enjoy this place. I really appreciate how nice the staff is. The food is very good!!!
Absolute amazing food and even better service!
We dine here regularly and the food is always outstanding. The place is very peaceful and the family running it is wonderful!
Stopped in here for the first time the other day because I promised my son Thai food during his visit and the place we usually go was unexpectedly closed. Truth be told, I was in a pretty foul mood by the time we got here because the holiday traffic was annoying and this restaurant is on the complete opposite side of town, but damn if it wasn’t worth all that hassle and then some. The food here is absolutely fabulous - everything we ordered was so fresh and delicious and obviously prepared with great care. In fact, it was so good that I even forgot to take any pictures and that almost never happens (yes, I’m that annoying person with 47000 pictures of random food items on her phone). Service was excellent. The lovely chef/owner even came out to our table to ask how our food was and she was so friendly and kind - and interesting! I learned a few new things about the cuisine and some distinct regional differences. 🤓They have an awesome selection of delicious teas of varying types, a pretty full bar, wine, and several beers on tap and in bottles - (and they fortuitously still had Octoberfest on tap which is my absolute favorite and nearly impossible to find this late in the year). The restaurant itself is very nice inside, clean and comfortable, welcoming - and they have an adorable patio outside for those days when the weather is agreeable. Close to the rail trail too if you want to walk off all the food you’ve eaten. Definitely going to add this restaurant to my regular rotation - highly recommend!
Best tasting Thai food and always fresh.
Had the garlic lover with chicken. Absolutely delicious. Everything the rest of my party ordered looked amazing. I did try my kids sweet and sour dish. Amazing as well. I look forward to trying more dishes on my next visit!
Do you have a cold? I have the best medicine: Northwest Noodle Soup from Tea Star. Sure, it's better to make homemade soup, but when you can't because you're the cook in the house and you're the one who is sick, you need this soup. I have been eating it on repeat since coming down with that cold going around the Burg and this soup is LITERALLY saving my life. It's spicy, full of good proteins and noodles, and supremely comforting and tasty. I hate being sick but it's worth it to have discovered this amazing soup. It's perfection in a quart container.
We stopped in for Bubble Tea. It was pricey but very good. We tried the Thai Iced Tea and Mango flavors. They were sweet but not overly sweet. We will be back to try the Pad Thai.
My mother and I came for dinner and the service was amazing. Super friendly, laid back atmosphere. I had the Yellow curry and my mother the Pad Thai. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and lava cake. Everything was to perfection.
We went for lunch September 8th. I chose this place for our date day because of the high ratings. The Tea Star Cafe did not disappoint us.
Allow me to first say that the physical space is stylish, attractive and cool. It was clean, as were the rest rooms. The staff were all smiling, friendly, and helpful and knowledgeable making menu suggestions. We will return a second time when we take our daughter to dinner tomorrow night.
We started with Satay Chicken with peanut sauce. It was good. I always like a Satay dish when having Thai. This also came with a small, delicious spicy sweet cucumber "salad".
When I have Thai food, I usually like trying the Pad Thai first. It is my "go to" dish, but instead I had Spicy Dumplings. It was an excellent choice, with a large portion of 10-12 chubby succulent meat filled dumplings, with plenty of tasty soy sesame hot sauce. I would definitely have this again, and I'd recommend it if you want dumplings. Next time, however, I'll have what my wife had!
My wife chose Yellow Curry Chicken. Fortunately for me her potion was large. I ate half of her entre. It was deliciously spicy with tasty potatoes, carrots, onions and large pieces of tender chicken. The broth was delicious, with a spiciness that warmed and did not bother my wife.
The friendly staff were eager to talk about the food they serve, which added to the excitement and joy of our experience. I would highly recommend the Tea Star Cafe.
The food was amazing, good service, nice outside seating.
First time visit. Great food, customer service and atmosphere. Definitely will go back again.
Amazing Tom Kai. Can't wait to return.
We were greeted immediately and sat. Drinks came quick as did the appetizer. The second we finished the last bite of the app, the entrees arrived.
So the service is phenomenal.
Now…the food.
Amazing! Get the drunken noodles and you will NOT be disappointed.
We will be back. Often.
All fresh vegetables in rolls. Absolutely my favorite Thai restaurant. Love the green curry vegetables and chicken.
Friendly staff and owner.❤️
The food here smacks like no other. To add even more flavor; ask for the spice tray. The servers are nice and the speed of service is great.
What a gem! They have authentic Thai food that’s delicious and the service is lovely. The satay chicken is juicy and not burned like many others do.
Just had an early dinner and it was absolutely fabulous. The food is freshly prepared and delicious. I encourage everyone to come visit.
Great food! Fantastic service.
Nice, casual place near the Spartanburg YMCA.
We split two pots of tea among four people. They were delicious and very refreshing.
The chicken pad Thai was extremely great!
I've never had a bad entree here.
Everything they make is fantastically made with excellent flavor and attention to detail.
I'll admit it's a little expensive but oh my goodness it's so delicious.
The staff are very friendly and can be quite engaging.
I recommend the Thai Red Curry. It's my absolute favorite!
I normally get take out but this last time, we ate in and out was even better at the restaurant!
10/10 recommend going here!
Place is very beautiful, amazing and delicious! Clean and wonderful
First time experience was amazing i am totally coming back here again🤍
Nice, family owned authentic Thai food. Some of the best in town.
So so good kind of expensive but worth it
Great bubble tea. We will return for it and dinner.
We had a pretty disappointing experience. To start, the prices are completely unreasonable for what you get and compared to other Thai places in the city. My husband ordered the Tom Yum soup. It's priced at 12.95 with chicken but if you want to get it with prawns you have to pay $5 extra (their in-house menu said +$4 so it wasn't updated with the online menu). That's $18 for a Tom Yum soup, which came with I think 4 shrimps (not prawns) in a medium sized bowl. Most other Thai place in Spartanburg charged $7 to $10 for the same dish and in some cases includes both chicken and shrimp. One other place I found charged the same but $4 extra for prawns though I haven't visited to comment on if it's worth it. I ordered the pad thai dish. I wanted it with beef, but once again, for some reason it was a $4 or $5 upcharge to get it with beef instead of chicken, which would bring the dish price to about $18. However, they had a side dish of beef for $5 so we got that and the chicken pad thai. There were may be 5 decent sized chickens and the remaining were bits of one, barely anything additions (no parsley, carrots, and only 4 small pieces of green onion). The noodles themselves were tasty enough but it was a small portion for the price, especially in terms of the protein. The side of beef I didn't really enjoy. It didn't have enough seasoning or taste to it. I ordered a mango mojito and it was brought with NO LIME AND NO MINT and tasted nothing like a mojito. There was a big bunch of mint right on top of the bar so I asked for mint when she came by. She took a stem and placed it as a garnish instead of muddling it in like you're supposed to in a mojito. So I tried to push it in there and muddle it myself and then realized that lime was missing. At this point, I just asked for a lime wedge. There were may be 2 other tables being served in the restaurant so it wasn't like it was so busy that she couldn't pay attention to this. My husband's drink was supposed to be a smoked rosemary old fashioned. There was no rosemary in it so he asked about that and the waitress showed him a syrup they used. It was so mild that he barely tasted it, even when they added more to the drink. But if you're gonna have it in the name and charge real cocktail prices, it would be nice to actually torch a rosemary stem and put one in there. I think I might have also seen some sort of $2 processing fee on the bill but I can't remember now. Either way, it felt like they were trying to squeeze every dollar out of you and give the least amount possible in return. It turned out to be a fairly expensive meal for what we got and the value/quality especially since the drinks were such a bust. I had high hopes for this place because of the other positive reviews and because the place itself looks clean and nice, but we had a very different experience. It turned out to be the most expensive Thai place we've been to so far, not even located in central downtown Spartanburg location, with subpar service and portions.
An amazing place to eat! Top notch service and great food! The Bold rock blackberry cider was tasty as was the Roma curry.
Food is good but took a while, it wasn't busy at 730pm. Service was excellent .
Great service! Can't wait to try other dishes! We tried the boba, which was refreshing!
The freshest, cleanest food I’ve had in a long time. The fried rice is sooo good!
First time. Ordered Basil Chicken the vegetables were fresh and delicious. Yellow curry tasted exceptional and like a home made recipe with the right amount of spice. Chefs kiss!!
Best Thai in the Upstate! Spring Rolls, Tom Kha, Red Curry and the Pad Thai was amazing!!! A hidden Gem!!!
I really enjoy the food. We share 6 different dishes, and all of them have their own complex flavor: sweet and hot, sweet and salty, salty, citric… I also could eat their lime fish sauce as soup!
This restaurant is pretty recommended if you like to give to your palate a great experience, trying different flavors. I love it!
This is one of our absolute favorites. My kid LOVES the Tom Kha with tofu and so do we! Chicken satay is yummy and the generous list of teas are lovely.
Do not expect your usual Spartanburg Thai experience. This is a small family-run establishment that is very traditional with their dishes. The food offerings are limited, so that they can offer a truly personal touch to each. This is the place to go to really have a tea experience and eat if you like.
It's so so special to experience and although it might be cliche, your soul is warmed after each visit.
Great tea, good food and wonderful service. Will definitely be going back.
Dine in or take out, it’s always delicious! Thank you Tea Star & Staff. 😍
Yummy bubble teas with different Thai dishes. Spice levels are 1, 2, or 3. I did a level 2 but could have went a 3. I tried the basil chicken. Very good.
Our waitress was fantastic and helpful. Loved her!
Love the food and the service here.
Wonderful people
Taste just a bit off, but the proprietor was lovely.
Great people and great food. We love it
So. Don't get me wrong food was hella bomb. Service was chill. But, the portions were hella small for how much you pay.
They have great food but called for a Togo order at 8:00pm and was told the kitchen had already closed. Not sure how you survive closing a restaurant at 8:00pm
THIS PLACE IS WONDERFUL! A sweet lady runs the restaurant. I had the pad Thai and the wonton soup. The wonton soup was the best I’ve ever had!
Outstanding Tom Yum!
Good food, good service, and love the variety of loose tea options! The bubble tea is good, too!
Nice staff
This is the best Thai place in the Upstdte
Food and drinks were excellent! Service was warm and friendly.
Great
TeaStar Thai Cafe was a pure delight from the wonderful cuisine to the friendly & professional service. We're definitely going back!
We were delightfully surprised by our dining experience this evening. The food was the best Thai food we have had. The wine was exquisite. The service was outstanding. We will make TeaStar one of our go-to restaurants!
Authentic, well proportioned, courteously served and delicious all at a reasonable price. What more could you ask for. I'll be back again and again.
We discovered this absolutely wonderful restaurant yesterday and now it will be our go to when we visit Spartanburg.
The food was amazing, fresh and did not have the typical salty, greasy, wet tastes associated with some lower end Thai restaurants. All the dishes we ordered were so yummy. The Lake Fried Rice, Siam Salmon and fresh spring rolls were all SO good!
The owners Lake and Joe are so passionate about their establishment. They took the time to educate us on their authentic Thai food, how it is prepared and what meals would work best for people with specific requirements such as being vegan or needing gluten free dishes. Being somewhat Thai food snobs, we very much appreciated the personal dining experience that they brought to us. Thank you Lake and Joe!
Ok food. Good service.
This is the best Thai food you’ll find in these parts. We ordered the shrimp pad thai, satay chicken, and the veggie spring rolls. Honestly, the peanut sauce alone is to die for. The owners were so friendly and kind, we had such a great time talking to them. Please give TeaStar Thai Cafe a try and tell your friends! You won’t regret it.
My wife and I ate lunch there on 06/27/22 and it was the best Thai food we have ever tasted in Spartanburg. The staff was very friendly and treated us liked family, even the cooked came out and checked on us. I would give it a 10/10 stars.
I've eaten at many Thai restaurants, and this is one of the best I've ever been to, including in Thailand. The flavors are clean and perfectly seasoned, the vegetables were cooked to just the right point, not undercooked, not mushy. Everything i had was incredibly satisfying, and i would definitely return again. The only thing I'd note is the spice level. Historically, i like things very spicy, and i always used to order Thai spicy. However, i recently ate at an excellent Thai restaurant in Houston where that failed me: Thai spicy was too spicy.... Wary of that recent experience, i asked whether spice level 3 was that spicy, and assured that it was, i opted for 2.5. it was delicious, but not especially spicy. So if you like spice, go for level 3. Not the restaurant's fault, just a problem with how varied people's definitions of "spicy" are.
I’m Thai - this is the most authentic Thai food I have had in the Upstate (and I have tried many)! If you are looking for true Thai cuisine, I highly recommend this place! It’s fresh, delicious, and the owner is the chef and takes great pride in every meal she makes.
I tried TeaStar for the first time yesterday and thought it was great. The fresh rolls were uniquely rolled in a cone shape and quite tasty with the peanut sauce. I had the spicy dumplings for my main meal ( 2.5 of 3 stars) and found them very flavorful. My guest got the red curry with fried tofu and told me it was equally good. For dessert I ordered the lava cake with ice cream and it as wonderful as well. The waitstaff was very helpful and had lots of useful suggestions. If you have not tried this place, you are in for a treat.
Have no idea why it’s rated so high. The food was mediocre, unlike traditional Thai restaurant.
Pad Thai was dry. Summer Thai was very boring in flavor and presentation.
In conclusion, we were very disappointed. The money can be better spent elsewhere.
Very good food, Great Tea!, Very friendly staff.
Another fantastic meal at Tea Star. ⭐️ You just can’t go wrong going here. The food is so fresh and the service is fantastic. The outdoor seating is lovely but the atmosphere inside is appealing as well. Highly recommended as one of the best restaurants in Spartanburg.
It’s AMAZING! They are so kind to me and my little girl and not to mention the mango bubble tea is the bomb. Great service!!
Great customer service and overall environment and ambience, but the prices are a little on the tad more for what you can get at a traditional thai restaurant. I'd place it at 4.5 out of 5.
The food was delicious! The environment was quiet, clean, and welcoming. The Taro Bubble Tea and Mango with Pomegranate Bursting Pearls was amazing!!!
Great service and amazing food! Pad Thai was great and I'm not normally a sweet and sour chicken guy but tried my buddies and it was quite good. Also the desserts are great and all made from scratch!
Ordered tom yum soup with prawns as my protein for an extra $4. There were three tiny shrimp in My soup. Apparently they don't know the meaning of prawns. Business was slow as was service. The pineapple fried rice was very moist and gummy. Doesn't really leave me with wanting to make a return visit.
My wife and I has dinner to celebrate my birthday. Food was excellent! Perfect service by our waitress, Katelyn. An extra plus was that the background music was great - wonderful selection of songs (which I found out was a Playlist developed by the owner). We will absolutely be back.
Excellent fresh Thai dishes made to order! Great covered patio for Al fresco dinning on those coming spring and summer evenings!
Excellent Food
Really good food.
Like Chang from the Blue Elephant told Gordon Ramsay, “Pad Thai have to be sweet, sour, and salty.” Unlike most of the other “Pad Thai” in downtown Spartanburg, this hit all three checkboxes.
The peanuts were freshly roasted, the noodles didn’t stick together, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. There was a lot of care put into the details of this dish and it shows. Can’t wait to try some more of their food in the future!
Very delicious Thai restaurant. The pad Thai was so good as was the lettuce wraps. The bubble tea was great as well. Will be coming back next time I’m in town.
Nice atmosphere, excellent cuisines.
TeaStar is outstanding! The food is so fresh and the service is top notch. I highly recommend the curry roma and the larb salad.
This is a nice place to eat! The owner and staff are very friendly and the food is outstanding! My little girl loved the bubble tea with pomegranate popping bubbles!
excellent service and the best chicken pad Thai
Really great food, drinks and atmosphere, can't suggest it enough for fans of Thai food or Tea!
This family restaurant is a welcomed addition to my lunch and dinner plans. The knowledge of teas and availability of teas I have not found anywhere other than a tea store. The food is as fresh as any Thai I have eaten and they accommodate various requirements and palates. 1-3 on the heat scale. A 2 was perfect to me but may try the 3 on Garlic Lover’s next time. You like garlic? Get that plate!
This is one of my favorite places! Everything I’ve had is delicious and I’ve had something new every time. I’ve had 3 work lunches here and everyone has enjoyed their food as well. This is my favorite kind of food!
Stopped by for the lunch special..Curry was delicious and owners were very friendly and great service all around!! Nice little upscale Thai place… Will be back!
This restaurant is a great addition to Spartanburg! The food is delicious, the service perfect, the teas are intriguing. Outdoor seating area is charming and wheelchair friendly!
Friendly and quick service. Good food. Love the porch.
Wonderful meal at TeaStar Cafe.
Appetizers with tasty sauces.
Swimming Roma n Basil Chicken hit the spot.
Friendly staff.
Food was excellent and fresh. They have a large tea selection that we will have to try next time. We tried green curry, pad Thai, and pineapple fried rice and they were all really good.
Totally excellent. This is great quality food. Fresh ingredients. Freshly made. Great friendly down to Earth service. We had the Pad Thai and the Garlic Lover chicken. Also-the Spring Rolls are as good as can be gotten anywhere. I will definitely be getting those EVERY time I come here.
For dessert, the Creme Brulee was awesome. Seems like it was made just hours ago. Super fresh.
Loved everything about this dining experience. Will certainly be back!
My parents and I ate here and it was absolutely incredible! I got the pineapple fried rice and blueberry rooibos tea, both were so good!! The servers were incredible and the food was great, I highly recommend it- I will definitely be back!
Fresh and delicious. Friendly service, casual pace. Thai tea was good, not a pre-mix. My wife loves the Lakes Fried Rice with Chicken.
Finally great Thai Restaurant in Spartanburg! I've been waiting for this and now I have place to go to for some real Thai food like being in Bangkok again. The owners are very nice and will make great dish suggestions. We can't wait to go back and try their other dishes soon.
