If I could give it zero stars I would, excessive waiting time. They don't care how long you have to wait, wait 45 minutes outside with cold because it was supposedly full and there were many people when it wasn't like that so I recommend you don't come 😒

Diner Review №2

I want whoever in management to read this feedback because this is a consistent experience.

Basil Park Circle needs to improve its online service.

On February 7, 2025, I arrived to pick up a Doordash customer order at Basil Park Circle. I was notified before arrival that the order was ready.

I arrived at 8:22 pm at Basil Park Circle. Basil staff member, (very nice) told me the order wasn't ready.

I don't blame the staff and hostess for the Doordash order not being ready. I blame the management of Basil Park Circle.

I have been doing online deliveries for over 7 years. I can tell if a restaurant knows how to manage online orders and their dine-in customers in real time or not.

In the past, I have waited 30 - 40 minutes for an online orders.

But with this customer order, mentioned above, it was 30 minutes.

When Basil Park Circle gets busy with dine-in customers and Doordash customers, there will be a long wait period for Doordash orders (including any third-party delivery orders).

I understand that a restaurant needs to make a profit to be sustainable in its location.

But restaurants, (including Basil Park Circle), needs to understand that Doordash Customers and Ubereats customers blame the delivery driver if the order doesn't arrive on time, or blame the delivery driver if an item that is missing from the order, despise if the driver didn't tamper with the order.

I have asked Doordash to block me from receiving any orders from Basil Park Circle.

The service was very nice, but unfortunately the food is not good, especially for the price and serving size. The first dish my friend and I split was the red curry with chicken. The chicken meat was tough first off. Also, the sauce lacked a good consistency and seemed watery with a lack of richness in flavor. The next dish we got was the our appetizer (they served our main course first) and it was the spring rolls. They thinly sliced the shrimp, and put very little basil in it. It was 90% rice noodles. By the time my friend and I got our last dish which was the Tom Yum we had one taste and sent it back. Sadly, for about $20 a dish I would say skip it this place. It was not worth the money.

Great scene and wonderful food!

Basil has incredibly amazing food. This is at least our 17th-18th visit and the various dishes have been spectacular every time. Review was overdue with this level of delicious consistency.

Diner Review №7

25 minutes for a fried green ice cream? Ridiculous

Diner Review №8

Took forever. Staff didn’t know what they were doing

Diner Review №9

Always a great meal when dining here. Just wish there weren’t so many takeouts near our table at the entrance. Took away from the ambiance of eating out. Seems like they focused more on the to go orders than the dining in experience. I asked for nam pla but I got soy sauce with chilis.

Diner Review №10

If I could give zero stars I would. This experience was awful and felt like a personal attack on my ethnicity. This place wasn’t that busy on a Saturday night ( visible tables empty through window) so my husband and I stopped for a relaxing dinner. Unfortunately we waited for a server to come give us water at least and they never came. The party of two that came 15 min after us was given water and wine but us nothing not even a hi I’ll be right with you! They avoided us like the plague and I will never return.

Diner Review №11

Great dinner tonight the stuffed shrimp app is delicious, the shining star of the overall experience had to be our sever cameron tho! She's a great asset to the basil team, very attentive and even remembered serving us months prior!

Diner Review №19

55 minutes for a pickup order of fried rice. If you value your time don’t order pickup from here.

Diner Review №21

Went to North Charleston. In general the food was over priced and not good. Spring rolls were on the menu for $6.50, but did not clarify it was $6.50 each. The green curry was “medium to hot” spice level and it tasted of hotel pool water with no spice. Really disappointed in my experience.

Diner Review №22

Diner Review №23

Basil was a great find in Park Circle! The atmosphere, staff and food were amazing! Our server was on point with everything! Highly recommend!

Diner Review №24

Curry duck was good, although i feel like the curry is not sufficient as the meat was a lot. Coconut chicken soup was featured, while the chicken was a little dry, the soup tasted good. Pad Thai was a little sour. Spring roll was fresh with the sauce. Sadly no thai tea to be found. Overall more like a fusion thai restaurant.

Ordered takeout, got there 30 minutes after placing the order only to find out that they didn’t even start to make the order. Sat at the bar waiting for another 30 minutes before receiving my food. Got home with my order only to find out that they didn’t include the rice for multiple orders. Food tasted fine but very disappointed in the poor service.

Diner Review №28

Not much of a Thai food fan, but their steak skewers and black pepper garlic sauce with chicken was absolutely amazing and tasted so fresh. I also got fried wontons and a chocolate lava cake for dessert. The lave cake seemed like it was cold and they warmed it but it wasnt lava, just slightly warm on the inside like a microwave heated it. It still tasted great! And their liquor and wine selections are amazing. I ordered some blantons bourbon while there. So worth it. I'll definitely come back!

Diner Review №29

I chose Basil for my birthday dinner because it's always awesome. It never disappoints

Diner Review №30

Took my teens, they were shocked by the service and the classy atmosphere. Definitely upscale in Park Circle. This has been a guilty pleasure of mine, now I have to share with the family 😁

Diner Review №31

Enjoyed will definitely go back!

Diner Review №32

Delicious Thai food.

Diner Review №33

I wish I could say that this restaurant is consistent.
So disappointing, service was subpar. We said we were sharing everything we ordered, which was a lot, fell on deaf ears, had to ask for a spoon and another fork, we got chopsticks and a fork.

The food was not as good as previous visits.
We will not go back.

Diner Review №34

The food was absolutely delicious. Staff really helpful. Lovely vibe.

Diner Review №35

We loved it! Great food, great service, & the bartender was personable. Also, the 2nd story outside table we had was in the shade overlooking a pretty lake. Nice happy hour. Great job guys!

Diner Review №36

Diner Review №37

Our server Caroline was very sweet and full of knowledge. She made our visit 5 star. Thank you Caroline!

Diner Review №38

My daughter and I dined in the Park Circle location. Service was slow. Waiter disappeared pretty much after we got our drinks. Got the duck fried rice. Hard to find any duck. My daughter got shrimp soup and it had 5 or 6 shrimp. We are regulars and it was just disappointing as this place is not cheap.

Diner Review №39

We went there tonight because we saw $6 wine advertised during happy hour. Virtually every other restaurant on the street had a happy hour. Our waitress told us that it was discontinued after COVID. We asked to see the manager and she ignored us. We paid $9 each for a drop of wine, and our friend got a shot over ice, and they charged him $3 extra for the ice cube. The food was good, but obviously there is a reason they were the only restaurant on the street not packed with people.

Diner Review №49

Had a chance to try Basil during restaurant week 2024. Starting with the fried wontons (not pictured I forgot to grab a picture before I devoured them) very nice, different in taste because they’re not crab but not different in a bad way. Good portion app with about 8-10 served in it. The Pad Thai and Pad See Eu were both great dishes and very flavorful. With good portion sizes. I had the Pad Thai medium and felt as if it could’ve easily been a mild so the server was gracefully able to provide additional spice (garlic chili paste) so feel on the safe side ordering knowing the spice level will not be overbearing. For dessert I had the Raspberry Cheesecake which was amazingly light and soft, not dense at all it was a dream to finish the meal with. The mixed drink was the Creamy Lemon Cake which was very delicious and almost felt like a dessert in of itself. It had an actual lemon cake aftertaste with little to no alcohol taste during or after the drink. Our server was incredibly kind, happy to serve, and had a bubbly welcoming personality. Safe to say I will definitely be back here for more.

Diner Review №50

I love this place. The Pad Thai is my favorite!

Diner Review №51

The food is always delicious! Tried the wontons for the first time and they are an incredible combination of savory, sweet, and tangy! So happy to have this establishment close by!

Diner Review №52

One of the best places to eat! Try the Red Curry, Pad Thai and definitely the Basil Rolls! You will love them!!

Diner Review №53

Diner Review №54

Food, hospitality and atmosphere was great!

Diner Review №55

It’s a popular spot so if you decide to come, do so at your earliest convenience!
The alcoholic beverages were great! I love it when the alcohol is subtle and not overwhelming.
The wontons as appetizers were delicious.
The chicken Masaman curry was absolutely incredible!! The heat level was mild and rightfully so!

Diner Review №56

Diner Review №57

Other than the cold soup served missing the Sterno, the rest of the meal was amazing.

Yasmine our server was amazing her warm smile to greet us , her attention on the table was to the point whether its bring cold glass for beer , refilling my wife’s drink!! And not to forget she had tables outside as well

But the best part was i wanted to have basil chk fried rice and she even didn't hesitate and was so welcoming to accommodate my request and kudos to kitchen team for making it!!

Always love coming here!!

Diner Review №62

The atmosphere was elegant and upscale. The service was warm and inviting. Our waitress was attentive to us during dinner. For our appetizer, we ate the stuff shrimp which were really delicious. Unfortunately, dinner was not a "wow". I ate Basil Shrimp and I felt like the shrimp were not fresh caught. Considering their location, I would expect fresh local shrimp. I did love the fact that they offered brown rice as an option. Hubby ate the Basil Beef. He enjoyed it; however, he did request Thai Hot and felt that the heat level was not hot or in comparison to other Thai restaurants. This was our 1st dining experience at the PC location.

Diner Review №63

The food is always great here! Shout out to the bartender Nick M for outstanding service, he went above and beyond and was very knowledgeable! Thank you Nick! 93

Diner Review №64

I paid for extra broccoli and chicken with my meal and the gave me 1 little brocolli floret and like 4 very very tiny shreds of chicken. I wouldn't even have noticed it in my meal if I hadn't done a thorough search for it. It was pathetic and felt like a slap to my face. I basically paid $25 for some noodles.

Diner Review №65

Food was really really good

Diner Review №66

We got the Tom Kha Gai (sp?) and pad Thai. Tom Kha Gai was good, but chicken was a little chewy, but good flavor. Pad Thai was the sweetest I've ever had, so it wasn't great. Okay experience overall. I'd give Basil a 2nd try before I decide to not return. Maybe was just a fluke or new chef.

Diner Review №67

The basil duck is so yummy if you ever want to try duck I suggest going to here ever when I do uber eats orders they are super friendly and very nice

Diner Review №68

The food was okay but the service was even better. The location is great and the atmosphere was great. Pad Thai is what I ordered. I also tried to order Saki but they didn't have the machine to warm it up 😞

Diner Review №69

Always great food…

Diner Review №70

Diner Review №71

I enjoyed my experience. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was different and tasty. I was disappointed that the hours of operations are short. The bathroom was clean. It was a beautiful experience. I encourage you to visit and see Jah (I think that is the correct spelling). If not, I apologize in advance.

Diner Review №72

This is our go-to Thai food restaurant. My wife and I agree that the food is good, but it's pricey. Not a lot of Thai options in SC. I guess that gives them the right to price gouge.

Diner Review №73

Diner Review №74

Definitely a nice spot to impress a date.

Diner Review №78

I love thai food and this restaurant did not disappoint. Everything was delicious. I am vegan and I was happy to know that multiple items could be made vegan, just ask for it to be prepared without blank ingredient. I oredered the green papaya salad without the fish sauce and shrimp; this may have been my favorite item. I ordered a vegan pad see eu, without the eggs; deliciously flavored and generous portion. And just for fun I also ordered a Peach Bloosom, it tastes like a delicious mimosa. Everyone else in my party ordered standard fares and also really enjoyed their meals.

Diner Review №79

Thailand crying. The most colonized Thai food I’ve ever had. Sorry.

Diner Review №80

Best place for delicious Pad Thai and cashew chicken! Tried the BARRAMUNDI for the first time and was delicious as all the rest. Consistently good food and service.

Diner Review №81

I used to love this restaurant's another location in downtown Charleston until they permanently closed that spot.
Pros- Friendly service
Very generous portion

Cons- Honestly, food was not great .
The smell of pad thai seems ok but it was not really delicious or close to pad thai what I used to enjoy when I actually eat it.
My duck sauce was very salty and you can say it's oyster sauce base and it's rather close to chinese style.

Again to be fair, service and other things I was satisfied but definitely need to check the recepie and think about the food itself.

Diner Review №82

Amazing.

Diner Review №83

Diner Review №84

I’ve been going to basil since they were downtown (for decades). I love this restaurant. The only thing that was annoying is that I ordered pad Thai which comes with shrimp and chicken. Given that I’m vegetarian, I asked for tofu pad Thai.

The tofu pad Thai was great, but what was annoying is that they charged extra for tofu, when I didn’t get the shrimp or chicken. By that logic, shouldn’t they have deducted the meats? Or at least charged the same? That was annoying.

Diner Review №85

One of the best thai restaurants I've have been in since I have moved to Charleston, and i have been in quite a few places. Thanks Basil Thai!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Diner Review №86

Basil Thai Park is a restaurant that offers delicious Thai cuisine in a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's menu is packed with a wide range of dishes, from traditional favorites to more contemporary creations. One of the standout dishes on the menu is the Thai Hot Chicken Pad See Ew.

The dish features stir-fried rice noodles with chicken, egg, and vegetables, all coated in a spicy sauce that packs a flavorful punch. The chicken is tender and juicy, and the vegetables add a nice crunch to the dish. The portion size is generous, making it a great choice for sharing or as a main dish.

Overall, the Thai Hot Chicken Pad See Ew at Basil Thai Park is a must-try for anyone who loves Thai cuisine. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food make it a top pick for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner for two.

Diner Review №100

Best Pad Thai in the Charleston area and we never miss out on the Tom Kha Gai! My six year old enjoyed his Pho with Tofu. The Hou Hou sparkling Sake was delicious! Portions are super generous. We have enough left over for lunch tomorrow. Our server was friendly and attentive.

Diner Review №101

Ordered doordash the portions are extremely small and WAYYYYY over priced. People talk about quality ingredients and they are completely wrong its the same cheap ingredients all the thai restaurants use the thin strips of chicken. The rice isn't even real its just fake rice. It's most definitely not worth the money that's absolutely for sure. If this is upscale and some of the best food north Charleston has to offer I feel sorry for you all. I visit all over the country and this place ranks as one of the lowest thai food places I have had. You all obviously dont know good food...

Diner Review №102

I have come here a couple of times and mainly order to go. I usually get the spring rolls, the red curry and the pad Thai. The food is fairly good. The reason I get them 1 star because I can’t give -10 is because the service can’t be worse. The bartender is being extremely rude in different occasions. The first time he was like acting up, I ignored him because I thought he just had a bad day, but yesterday I went to celebrate with my bf something special and the bar tender completely ruined our night. Never coming back!

We loved our dinner here! First off all, we loved that we got seated right away and didn't need reservations. The coconut soup is delicious and the wide noodle dish (the first one under the noodles section) was my absolute favorite! It has a hint of sweetness and it was delicious. The pad Thai was my next fave followed by the Thai noodles. Great service as well!

Diner Review №110

Chicken Thai noodles were awesome.

Diner Review №111

The food as usual was great! Never disappoints! The bartender however was aweful. We knew when the kitchen closed, had our orders ready when we got there and had the food out before 930pm. From the minute we walked in the bartender was rude and rushed us as if it was inconvenient for us to come in before close and before the kitchen closed. Basil has amazing food and generally amazing staff. Nick the bartender was awful.

Diner Review №112

Good Thai food

Diner Review №113

Everything was good, food was nice service was great and atmosphere was great also. But there is a art of one of Hinduism God name Ram and Hanuman which I found place outside the restroom. Placing a god portrait is disrespectful and a disgusting thing to do. I told the owner to remove that art peace from near the restroom and place it anywhere near the entrance or dining area so, but owner said we will do it soon. I was like you should do it right now! It was disrespectful and I was really heartbroken by the shameful act they did. A god portrait or image shouldn’t be near restroom, it should be placed anywhere in a clean and safe place. No matter what religion it is all religion and culture should be respected, and that is what I not found here. Sorry but I felt disgusted. I had attached the image of God Hanuman and Ram so you can also verify on google. It’s a Thai art of god Hanuman and Ram.

First problem: I ordered food in the middle of December, 2022 and found a long piece of hair in my rice. They gave me a partial refund. I was disgusted, but let it go.

Second problem: I ordered food to go on January 4th, 2023. After eating half of my food, I bit something hard and chipped my tooth. I looked to see what it was that did it and I found a small rock/pebble. I called the restaurant, reached their voicemail and left a message explaining the issue with my contact information. My girlfriend also called and left a message. Today is 1/22 and I haven’t heard anything back. I tried to handle this through the restaurant directly, but I guess I have to use other methods now to get a resolution.

Diner Review №128

Terrible food. I ordered a Pad Thai and it was tasting like dog food, even worst. I had already ate lots of Thai food, everywhere else and definitely Basils dont taste not close to Thai food. Worst pad thai ever, let everything on plate, no Thai seasoning at all, not in the noodles, nor in chicken or shrimp. A waste of time n money.

Diner Review №132

We absolutely LOVE this place! Sometimes they are very busy and I know they try to give personalized service to everyone but that is not always possible when they are busy. But the food is EXCELLENT! We love the main bartender too, he is extraordinary. I definitely will recommend.

Diner Review №133

Diner Review №134

I typically love basil! I would say that this locations quality of food is at a lower level than the other locations comparatively. Still great anyway.

Diner Review №135

Good food, miss the portions they used to serve.

Diner Review №136

Excellent food, very classy and quaint. Drinks were good with great service.

Diner Review №137

We love Basil!! This was our first time to this location and Nick, the bartender made our experience!! He over saw that everything was being attended to and made our cocktails with love! He has a great sense of humor and we enjoyed his conversations with us!! He really made it a lovely date night!!

Diner Review №138

Excellent service. I has red Curry Chicken which was great. Good spice and good flavor. The dumplings were cooked perfectly.

Diner Review №139

Basil Thai elevates Charleston's already top notch Restaurant reputation even higher.

1st, the bar is nice but not overwhelming. Good presentation and stiff enough.

Food is where this place takes flight. Scrumptious variety of Pad Thai. Gluten Free. Spicy if you request spicy.

Currys are aromatic.

Highly recommended.

Have had a lot of Thai food. Y’all went heavy on the mint on all of the platters. Missing the real Thai ingredients in all the dishes. The fried wings where excellent though. The nam tum lacked flavor. The dumplings where sub par. . There was no option for Thai hot or spicy when ordering which was disappointing. Food did arrive hot and freshly cooked. For 100 bucks I really expected
more flavor and the traditional fresh flavors and sweet spicy Thai seasoning. The noodles where cooked well though but again lacked flavor and the protein portions where extremely small.

Diner Review №149

I love Basil. This location is the least good (food wise) of the Basil’s but it is in the Park Circle area so it suits when hanging out there. The waitstaff is excellent.

There are two good wine places in park circle and the wine offering at this** Basil isn’t good. Like… ugh not good.

So what do they do? Charge a $30 corking fee. THIRTY DOLLARS. That is the price of this Basil’s most expensive bottle! . $30???

Basil- Make your selection better or lower your corking fee. What a terrible customer experience… you look cheap.

Also, your walls are dirty. Your waitstaff is excellent.

Came in at 5:55 and was promptly seated at an outdoor table. Two friends arrived at 6:10 to join us and it wasn't until 6:35 that a server came to our table. She was apologetic and mentioned how busy it was and that she didn't know we were seated there.
We put in our drink order and appetizer. Received drinks promptly: 2 mules, 1 beer and 1 whiskey.
Server came around and took our order for main course. Put in another drink order as we received our appetizers.
We received our appetizers at 7:20 and our main course at 7:28.
Food was good, not great, but nothing to complain about. Had the experience of a long wait after seating and after ordering not happened, it may have left a better taste with more uplifting comments.
After the fact, the server apologized about the waits and blamed business, drunk customers and st Patrick's day celebrations. Unfortunately, blaming others doesn't take care of the service or food. So I'll probably not come back here when there are other options to enjoy.

Diner Review №159

Thai food is different wherever you go. Basil Park was ok. Portions were very generous. Good beer list, but they were out of the ones I was interested in. The crispy red duck curry was delicious, but not very crispy. Pad Thai was basically a pile of noodles glued together with the shrimp on the bottom. The dumplings and chicken satay were also nice. Service was good. Parking can be a little tricky.

Diner Review №181

Food was amazing

Diner Review №182

Diner Review №183

Diner Review №184

I ordered the shrimp and chicken pad Thai through door dash and it is SO GOOD! Honestly best delivery Thai food I’ve ever had.

Diner Review №185

Nice restaurant with good Thai food. Ordered a green curry and the sauce is very thin and runny without having very much ingredients. Was kinda like ordering a bowl of soup. Also requested it to be hot and all they did was add some extra red chile flakes which was not even hot to me. Definitely not that authentic but was still an alright meal.

I love this place!!! The appetizers are always fantastic. Best basil rolls with excellent presentation. The service has always been great, even when we go in bigger groups. Everything comes out in a timely manner. Have eaten here several times and never had any complaints. They are very accomodating.

Service was excellent and the food was even better. If you visit Charleston, make sure to check out Basil Thai Park Circle.

We happened to bump into this place as we were walking around this cool neighborhood. The ambience is just classic and when u see it, you feel like going in. The food is equally amazing and the Tom Kha soup was simply the best. We ended our dinner with fried ice cream:)
