Authentic Thai
Wow! This place is incredible! I work at a nearby venue as a Director and walk by this place frequently. I decided to try it for lunch. Why haven’t I experienced this spot sooner?! The atmosphere is inviting and the area is clean. The service is impeccable and attentive. The food is fresh, flavorful, with healthy portions. It’s certainly an amazing value for anything you order. I ordered the Pad Thai with the fresh Basil Rolls in a rice wrap. It was a work of art! I’m definitely going back more frequently and recommending ThaiZapp to friends and family.
With it being Sunday when we arrived in Charleston, several places closed early, so we went exploring/familiarizing ourselves with the neighborhood after settling into the rental and found this awesome little Thai place open till 9:30.
Mister and I shared a chicken satay. He had a bloody Mary and I had a mai tai. They may seem pricey,, but they are packing a puncher! For dinner, he had the special, sauteed shrimp and crispy soft shell crab with veggies. I went with the crispy duck in red curry. Everything was delicious and service was outstanding.
If possible I would give a -0, the Asian waitress was really rude, it was my first time eating here and I was asking for a recommendation to what she responded really rude, I waited more than 25 min for food, and she served 2 tables that arrived about 15 minutes after me. Place looks dirty and smells bad. I do not recommend.
Went in tonight to have dinner. A couple of people had recommended it. I was really craving Thai food. We ordered three appetizers and was looking to order entrees when the appetizers came out . One look at them and I was turned off. We tasted them and they were inedible. I told the waitress they were inedible and she apologized. I asked for the bill and she said she would give me 50% off. When she gave me the bill she had only taken off 10%. I paid the bill and we left. What a true disappointment. Sorry but I will not give them anymore of my business.
Let me begin by expressing my delight and love for Thai cuisine. Having visited numerous Thai restaurants, I’ve encountered a few exceptional ones and many mediocre establishments. This is why I was astounded by the exceptional quality of the food at ThaiZapp. When dining at new Thai restaurants, I often order familiar dishes like Pad Thai or Cashew Chicken to facilitate comparisons with familiar culinary experiences. Because of its location in a bustling tourist district in Charleston, I didn’t have high expectations. However, the Cashew Chicken dish at ThaiZapp exceeded my expectations.
The aroma was captivating, and the presentation was impressive. But it was the taste that truly captivated me. The ingredients were of the highest quality, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. I was so enamored with the dish that I politely requested the owner’s recipe. She kindly declined, explaining that it would take too much time to prepare. Despite this, I highly recommend ThaiZapp.
Good Asian food experience in Charleston! The salad was delicious, the duck soup got a big thumbs up from my wife, who is a coniseur of noodle soups. The massaman curry was good but a bit different from most others I’ve eaten. The sauce could have been thicker and it was a little heavy on the clove (?). S service was excellent! Overall very excellent!
Service was incredible and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!

I dined here tonight. And I kinda feel shy because I was the only one in the restaurant but Damon welcomed me so warmly that I felt really comfortable. He was the highlight of my dining experience. The food was good as well but Damon's service made it better. He's really nice, kind and friendly.
My boyfriend and I drove from myrtle beach to Charleston just to come to this restaurant in May. I had to bring my mom back months later because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s the best meal I’ve had in my whole life. The service is top tier and the interior is breathtaking.

The food was good but not happy with the service. The portion served are very small compared to the price they charge. The waitress was not welcoming just one lady doing all the work was taking time to serve the order.. I felt as they are doing us favour by serving food.

Amazing food. Very tasty and nice portion size
Loved the food. It tasted good. Though less vegetarian options, the items given were tasting very good
Beware of 20% minimum tip, did not expect for a party of 4.
Amazing foooddddd! We were over the thanksgiving weekend & this could the best Thai food I’ve had. I’m definitely going to visit again!
Amazing gem that is easy to miss. The food is flavorful, delicious, and service is excellent. I am so happy to find good Asian food in the tourist district that is reasonably priced. The Mango sticky rice dessert is the cherry on top.

Their Green Curry is delicious, and the service was excellent. Highly recommend.
The food Satay appetizer was over cooked. The peanut sauce was so gross. The Pad Thai was not fresh…it was sad. The waitress was very nice. I could not eat it. Hope they can make some changes…:)
The worse Thai food ever...no flavor, heat level was good. I ordered the shrimp rolls, pad thai & basil fried rice with chicken. I took one bite of the pad thai & it was not good at all, the shrimp tasted spoiled in the spring rolls, the rice was OK but but no flavor.
Amazing food!
Great little hole in the wall Thai place! If you're in line at hymans and hungry just cross the street and get some Thai food. There's usually no wait from my experience, and the service is amazing! I love the Tom Yum soup and the drunken noodles. Would definitely recommend.
L
I had been to this place with my husband
Two things for those planning to go here:
1. They charge a gratuity of 18%
2. Food portions are small
Overall ambience and service was good. Food was well presented and tasted fine
JOIA ESCONDIDA no centrode Charleston! Yau, que serve é super simpática! Local super agradável e a comida maravilhosa! Me surpreendeu positivamente!

Delicious food with great service!!!
Overall good, tasty Thai food! 4 stars b/c they gave us fried tofu when we asked for steamed three times and it is a bit overpriced for the quantity.
Sometimes a place is so delicious, so unique, so authentic, that you feel compelled to write a rave review about it. This is NOT one of those places. I struggle to remember a Thai food experience that compared in terms of unauthentic, sickly sweet flavors, mash up of flavors. Not recommended.
There was a single poor soul servicing the entire restaurant+bar. He got every single one of our orders wrong (put the wrong protein in every single order), and served my pregnant wife an alcoholic drink despite us ordering a virgin version. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant.
Delicious food, perfect. Great service. Had massaman chicken and spring rolls.
Got the drunken noodles. It had stewed tomatoes in it which was something I'd never had in drunken noodles before, so that was new. It wasn't my favorite ever. Can't put my finger on it, but it didn't feel like the flavor was quite right.
Thai Zapp is an adorable little restaurant that can probably be easily missed when walking down the street. It’s right on meeting street by the market in the French quarter. My wife and I order the crab wontons for an appetizer and they were PERFECT! For our entrees we had the Pad See Eu and the Thai Basil Chicken. Both were cooked and seasoned to perfection. This was honestly the best Thai food I’ve have had! Do not hesitate to stop in. The decor was cute and the bathrooms were spotless!!!
The food and service were excellent! We recommend their Tom Yum hot and sour soup, Pad Thai, and their Snapper with 3 sauce. Definitely worth a try!
This might be the worst restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. Words can’t describe how disgusting the food was.
Waitress was super amazing. Spring rolls were great. Pad Thai however not good at all. Very different from my last visit here 7 months ago. This visit... First time it was made wrong, 2nd time it was made correct but it was very bland with no flavor, no spice, and the noodles were very mushy. Disappointed in this trip.
Food was very good.
Great Pad Thai!
I ordered for pick up. Very efficient and delicious fresh food. Ped see ew is nice and saucy!
This restaurant is romantic and delightful! The employees are friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The food is exceptional! I formerly lived and work in Thailand. The food prepared here is authentic Thai! You can order Thai hot dishes or regular mild according to your spiciest preference… I really enjoy pad Thai dishes, but have found that everything on the menu is delicious! The winter months are less crowded at the restaurant, but you may have to call ahead for reservations during tourist season (spring and summer)! Make sure this is a lunch or dinner stop when you’re visiting Charleston!!
Best massaman curry I've ever had.
Pad thai was slightly overcooked. Saw a cockroach creep under my table after which I lost my appetite.
We went in for supper before a show nearby and it was delicious. The pineapple rice is a must!! Not to mention the waitress was a doll.
Absolutely love love love the red snapper, crab wontons and mango with sticky rice! Yao is an absolute Gem! Do yourself a favor and have a meal here!
Thai Zapp is terrible. The drunken noodles had a piece of rotten chicken in it!!! Really!?!? And the pad Thai was just ok. The sweet and sour soup was too sweet and the shrimp was overcooked. The place was empty at 6 on a Friday night, that should have been a sign. And we walked by there on Sat night at 7:15 and no one was there. The waitress was nice, that was the highlight. Do not eat here. Over $100 with tip, such a rip off.
Food is soso, curry is so thin cant taste much, all vegetables dishes are similar.
Found this little gem of a place on my last visit to downtown Charleston. The food was amazing along with the wonderful hostess. The Atmosphere was welcoming and clean. Will definitely come back here on my next visit to Charleston.
I have eaten at Thai Zapp several times and each time the food and the service were excellent. The ambiance is very nice as it is not very loud, and you can actually have a conversation without having to speak loudly.
Speaking of conversation and excellent service, Yao, one of the servers at TZ was very kind, respectful and personable. She worked very hard there and was very attentive and friendly. She was very polite and helpful and made some great recommendations on dish options. I highly recommend going there for good Thai food, and excellent service by Yao and others there!
What an awesome hidden gem! Food is amazing (get the chicken with green curry!). Not to mention our server, Yao kept us laughing and even gave us some extra spring rolls…. Highly recommended!!
Let me sum up in one line:
Long wait, average food and horrible behavior.
The place seems busy because they dont have anyone for service. Single person doing everything, which we could have respected if they treat customer good. With average food comes worst attitude and a long wait.
Best food and service.
Good food, had the green curry which was tasty and reminded me of Pattaya. All dressed up for Christmas so it was a fun distraction from the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston.
We went there a second day after eating our first day in Charleston. We had the green curry as well as the Tom Ka Gai. So good, just perfect.
Highly recommend the Crispy Garlic (no broccoli) and Massaman curry.
Very good food. Would definitely come back.
truly Thai food as it should be. The padtai is perfect, the papaya salad is also excellent. I didn’t like the tom yum as much, it lacked the taste of Thai paste and lemongrass, but overall it was also ok. Udin consisting of soup, salad, noodles with shrimp and two sets of sushi cost $80. I consider myself lucky to find truly delicious Thai food here. I recommend it to all connoisseurs.
The dining experience was truly enjoyable. The food exceeded my expectations. The warm and inviting atmosphere added to the overall comfort of my visit, who doesn't like Post Malone ;) Moreover, the service I received was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring that every aspect of my meal was perfect. I would definitely return on my next trip to Charleston. Oh, I completely forgot to take pics of my food so you'll have to just take my word for it. Lol
Good food, good price and fast service!
Fantastic food - the larb and eggplant in chili paste, and the mango sticky rice were particularly good. Service was great. Restaurant was clean. A very good experience - well done.
Fresh food, fabulous service
Spicy tastes abounds
Reasonable pricing too.
Walked half hour for nothing. Closed on Monday
Clean, no frills spot in downtown Charleston which does a lot of takeout and delivery app business. We were the only ones dining in on a Thursday night, but the kitchen was still busy.
Service was friendly and attentive. They made our food fresh, which is always a plus. The basil rolls were good and the accompanying peanut sauce was excellent. The crab ‘angels or Rangoon’ and spring rolls were pretty standard, second quartile efforts.
With that said, the tom kha gai (coconut soup) was freaking phenomenal. The best I have ever had by a long shot. Could easily eat it over and over and over. I mean, do yourself a favor…quit reading this and go get some. Delicious.
Good stuff.
yummy crispy chicken!! and very nice staff
The staff could not get the order right.
Sawaadi kap
This is one of the better thai plate I eat. The crispy basil chicken is so delicious. Try it!
Very, VERY good Thai food. Will be going back when I’m in the Charleston the next trip!
I don’t understand the hype? The food I had for starters was not good. The crab wonton they brought out the inside was ice cold. There was pepper in my miso soup and the seating smelt like old water because they are not properly switching out the cleaning rags. I won’t be back. :(
what an unforgettable dinner! we will be making this our new go -to when in downtown Charleston! The sushi was so fresh, the pineapple fried rice is to die for- try it with the pork! Yao took great care of us, what a wonderful night! thanks for having us! we felt like family!
Muy mal servicio lentos y pocos empleados mucha demora muy costoso
Love the food there
Amazing Thai food, just perfect flavor and heat, and great service too. We always stop here when traveling through Charleston!
Very good food. Super clean. Clearly they take pride in this place. Hidden gem.
Such a great hidden gem
Across from Hymans. Super friendly staff. Food was excellent.
Order took an hour, food was bad
Really wonderful experience. The food, service, and atmosphere is excellent. You get a table right away. No fuss excellence.
Awesome sushi. Try the California Temptation roll! Awesome service! Clean restrooms! Definitely will go back.
Delicious food and the waiter was super friendly and helpful! We had the Massaman Curry, Pineapple Fried Rice, California Temptation, and Crunchy Shrimp Tempura. All dishes were amazing!
Very underwhelming spice
Enjoyed my time there. Relaxed, simple, cozy vibe. The Thai food is savory (had drunken noodles and pad see ew). Really thankful for the customer service!
Food was delicious.
The Pad See Eu and Crab wontons were delicious (and my friend enjoyed her green curry). We stopped here for dinner on a Saturday and there was no wait. The lady who served us was very nice and attentive, and our food came out quickly. I would definitely eat here again.
I eat here every time I come to Charleston and they never disappoint. The Thai Basil is delicious.
Very good food! One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston, and that is saying something
Food is absolutely amazing (thank you Po), service is fantastic , and prices are affordable. 10/10.
Great authentic Thai restaurant.
One of the best Thai places in Charleston! We ordered at least 5 varieties - delicious!
The food was great but unfortunately the service wasn't. It was clear that the restaurant was understaffed with only 1 or 2 waitresses on a Friday night. It took very long to get noticed standing by the door, to get served water, to get our order taken, and to have food delivered. The poor waiters were clearly very overwhelmed and stressed out. We really enjoyed the food and the ambiance but this restaurant should really hire more waiters/chefs to minimize waiting time and to make everything flow smoother.
Okay service and okay food. Portions were pretty small for the price but that’s expected for downtown. Everything was super salty. Try mei Thai in North Charleston for some good Thai food if willing to drive up farther!
Under rated. Walked in and it was pretty empty, but glad we stayed because it was delicious! Crispy Basil Chicken and Tom Kha soup was to die for. Some of the best Thai food I’ve had. Very good service - a hair slow but so worth the wait.
Food was very good. They were short handed so service was a little slow, but the waiter was very friendly.
We had a wonderful meal with great service. Penluck was efficient, friendly and funny. It was a great experience
This is the best Thai food I’ve had since the last time I was in Thailand. It’s incredible, so we look forward to ordering again soon.
O Starts! Horrible service by the waitress, on top of it she is being very rude and she don’t even want to bother asking customers what they need.
Wost service, I have experienced ever in my life.
Delicious food and friendly staff
Just tried to go here for lunch and they were not open even though their hours say 11am.
The restaurant is very dimly lit, making it hard to see the food. However, the food itself is well priced and delicious. My fried rice felt a bit too salty and savory, but ultimately flavorful.
Very good Asian Restaurant with fast service and really tasty food, especially for those who prefer true asian cuisine with all the spicyness that comes with it. Just make sure you don‘t run past it by accident, it‘s quite easy to miss. Watch out for the sign on the outside!
The food was SO good! The coconut (chicken) soup was amazing. The waiter was so polite and quick. Big fan of the hot sake too. The decorations are festive as well. I will definitely come back!
Had Chicken Fried Rice !!!! Was tasty and the portion was also big had to take half to go 🤭
Manee was an great server and food was excellent!
The best Thai soups we had ever had. The duck soup was on point and the meat was delicious. The beef soup had the best broth I have ever tasted
So, this joint is fantastic. Very high quality food with amazing, attentive staff and service. Definitely doesn't get the hype it deserves. 5 stars isn't enough.
Tasty food. The service was exemplary
It is standard Thai food, at a moderate price for the area.
My son found this restaurant while visiting the Charleston market. It is unassuming from the street but the service is great and the food is to write home about! We had the drunken noodles and the Thai curries and everything was very delicious. Pad Thai had a really delicious sauce with good flavors Great flavors and the best Thai food I have had in some time. Spice level goes up to 4 and I tried 3, and 3 is for the hardiest of spice lovers, not for the faint of heart !:)
Really nice Thai food right by Charleston market. Friendly staff. Would visit again!
0 stars!!!!!
Horrible service!!! 55 minutes and no entrees!!!! Absurd! No apologies! NOTHING!!!!
Almost missed the very unassuming street sign of this restaurant. Went inside and to my delight discovered a great menu with a terrific range of genuine Thai food. The taste was brilliant and authentic. I'm going to just say it, this is the best Thai food I've had in the USA. I'm saying that after crossing 7 states on this trip. We'll done Thai Zapp!!
If you’re putting imitation crab in your crab rangoons (or as the owner told me “they’re actually crab wontons”) your getting an automatic 1 star.
I don’t care if they are fried dumpling wontons or GD fried crab balls, if your saying it has crab meat in it, but it’s imitation crab, ITS A LIE. Then you should change the name to “imitation crab wonton” or “imitation crab balls” or “imitation crab dumpling”.
The duck special was anything but special. Too much breading, over cooked, and too much sauce, with not enough vegetables, in fact there was borderline no vegetables.
Also had the fried rice which was pretty plain and ordinary.
I don’t know who the regular slobs are that eat here but this isn’t a 4.7 star show.
Tasty good
Good location
Service was good
Thai tea is good and there is a couple of options for vegetarians.
Would recommend to try once but wouldn’t go back again…
They have high chairs But they don’t have diaper changing stations?!?!
Great place and nice food all staff are kind
Wow! Crispy garlic was amazing! And Yao the waitress was so sweet!
Amazing service… the ambiance is so good. Awesome! ❤️
Went here with my colleagues and food was hot, fresh and delicious. Everything was perfect. Simple menu. We enjoyed. Waitress was sweet
Food was great, people very friendly and helpful - amazing place! Highly recommend
I tried carry with pineapples and shrimps and my friend ate noodles with veggies - we are both very satisfied. Great place
The food was delicious and the wait staff was delightful!
I want to give them 5 starts. But due to very slow service. I had to deduct 1 star
Food is seer
Great food and great service!
The food will absolutely blow you away
Who comes to Charleston to eat Thai food? I do!
Thai Zapp delivered great food and a great experience. The restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated.
The menu is not your typical Thai menu. Unlike some places, they were very happy to customize dishes for me.
They made me a great vegetarian soup, as well as vegetarian fresh rolls.
My server, Yao, was very friendly and checked in to make sure I enjoyed my meal. She answered all my questions about the menu and was very friendly and attentive. She is an asset to this place.
Will come back again when I'm in Charleston.
A hidden jem. authentic and absolutely a great experience.
Will visit often on trips to Charleston...maybe the rest of the city will catch up on a fabulous establisment.
Dumplings were great! Not enough :)
Slow night, lackluster service. Noodles overcooked to point of being gelatinous and vegetables (frozen?) microwaved before added to dish.
The best Thai food I’ve found in the Charleston area. That fried egg on top of stir fried basil… fantastic.
I was here for lunch with family and friends. The ambience is good. We all liked the dishes we ordered. Will come again when we come next time. Recommended for families with kids.
Let me start by saying my boyfriend really enjoyed his fish. My curry sauce was good but everything else was not! Scallops were overdone, steamed vegetables had no flavor! Seemed like they were poured from a grocery store bag and covered in a good Curry which made the flavor mediocre at best. My daughter ordered a Thai tea that we never received even though we asked for it 3 times. Restaurant was very short staffed. Only one employee who did her best but was obviously overwhelmed.
Some of the best green curry I've ever eaten!
