Lovely dining experience! Food was perfectly spiced to requested levels, great portion sizes and very fresh. Service was very attentive as well. Please note we had eaten some of those big squid rings before we took a pic! Restaurant fully decorated for the holidays and they were doing a gift drawing from a stocking at each table. We got a lovely neck massager!
Very clean restaurant, fast service, and friendly staff. Typically that’s all we can ask for out of a place we do business with, however Thai Elephants I has some of the best Thai food I’ve eaten in the greater Charleston area. Absolutely best dumplings, hands down. If you haven’t tried Thai Elephants I, I highly recommend everyone experience one of the best Thai food experiences Charleston has to offer.
First time ordering from here, tonight. To go, which seemed to be the thing to do, on a Saturday night. There was at least 6 bags waiting. I only had to wait a moment before someone came to help me (with 3 more bags to add to the lineup, including mine).
The woman assisting was very kind. She apologized profusely for my 2 minute wait.
Fried rice - vegetable, was the best I’ve ever had. There were real vegetables in it. No canned or frozen stuff.
My husband got calamari, packed in card board so it wasn’t all soggy. He also got Pad Thai which he loved as much as our local fav. They were a little heavy on oil is the reason for the four stars versus 5. But we’ll try again!
I don’t know how this restaurant flew under our radar for so many years but it has. The only excuse is that Mondos Italian is next door and that’s where we were normally heading so the Thai Elephant missed our scrutiny. No longer. We had a wonderful meal at this well lit, pleasant little restaurant in the Folly Road Shopping Center. Plenty of parking and although well occupied on a Friday night, we were able to immediately seat without reservations. The menus is not large but covers all the basics and regardless of your dietary restrictions you will find something to satisfy your tastes. A good wine and beer list is on hand snd the decor would be classified Asian Delightful . Service was efficient and pleasant without the forced friendliness that has become the norm in dining. The dishes we sampled were all good to very good. One very pleasant surprise was that the noise level was subdued despite the restaurant being full. You could actually hold a conversation with your table mates. How nice was that? Summing up we give this nice little restaurant five stars on the Gen X scale or the equivalent four clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.
We had an evening out and wanting to eat Italian food off Folly Rd but the wait time was too long for us so we check out this Thai Elephant next door.
The hostess was friendly and she was overseeing pick up /take out/ answering calls/and wait table as well. She told us they were short staffs but able to seat us down.
Our waitress was so busy that night but she was able to come and check on us and make sure our drinks refilled except my water.
We ordered some appetizers and had spring rolls and chicken satay and both kids stated that the chicken satay were good. The spring rolls were okay iN my opinion.
My oldest daughter had pad see ew noodles with shrimp and it was good. My youngest daughter had the side fried rice and it was a bit pricey for the side.
I had pad woon sen and I asked for thai spicy but mine came not spicy and I asked for spice and she gave me chili powder and I didn’t taste what I thought its gonna be with chili powder instead of fresh chili.
Overall, it was good dinner but its on the pricey side.
Honestly, we were disappointed in the quality of the food. Staff was friendly. Food was expertly prepared and it was presented well. The grilled squid and vegetables were served cold. Dynamite roll is not like any I've ever tasted. Ginger shrimp was delicious. Philadelphia roll was good. It took a good 45 minutes to get our meals to the table.
Had an amazing lunch here today. Da was our server and was most pleasant. We met the chef, Joey, and he was fantastic. The food was so delicious. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was lovely. Our group enjoyed calamari, crab wonton, chicken satay with stellar peanut sauce, pineapple fried rice with beef, drunken noodles, cashew nut chicken, basil duck, and so much more. Oh and coconut bubble tea. Nothing bad on this menu! So so so delicious! Huge portions too. Highly recommend this place. Bring your friends and family for a delightful meal.
What a surprise! Looking for fantastic Thai, in South Carolina, yea I said SC. What a gem.
Popped in on a whim and was blown away by the authentic tastes and very nice service.
If you like Duck, you are in the right place. Duck pad Thai, Garlic duck and Duck soup were on point and quite flavorful.
Chicken pad Thai, chicken satay and chicken wings all wonderful.
Jasmine rice. Sticky rice, fried rice, all amazing.
Desserts were sticky mango rice and coconut custard. Cold sake was the choice and didn’t disappoint the girls. The woodwork on the tables is incredible. A great time. Oh

The food and bubble tea is so good, the service is always great. My son always wants to come eat here!
Great experience! Ordered, food was ready shortly there after. Good portion sizes, food was still hot, had everything we needed. I would recommend.
So good. Leans hot, so start light. I especially enjoy the pad see ew noodles and green curry. Always a treat!
Red curry and Pad See EW are top notch . Love this place
Discovered this place recently. Been coming almost every week since. Great food!
The food was really good and the staff was super friendly.
Ordered Pad Thai for take out. Consistently tasty and good size portion.
Ahh, Thai elephant #1.... Weird hours, no sushi, bitter sake, old sticky gelatinous not fresh "fresh roll"... They obviously don't change the fryer oil very often here, spring rolls were very dark and very oily, gross ... Pad Thai was actually pretty good. Drunken noodle was ok, noodles were good, sauce was pasty, sticky.... To the chef, add some water to the sauce Bro! Ohh and stay in the kitchen if you're not a server, people don't like to be stared at while they eat!
Best Thai on James Island!
Such a wonderful surprise this place. We had spring rolls, Phad Thai, red curry, and a coconut based soup w chicken. We rushed in after 8 and the server Cho could not have been nicer. All of the staff are friendly including the owner. The place is beautifully decorated w hand carved wooden chairs and tables from Thailand and everything was spotlessly clean. The food was all fantastic. All of it. We cannot wait to eat our leftovers!!
We got 3 out 5 as far as spice level and it was just the right amount of heat for us. If you like med-hot wings that is the heat. If you like mild to med get 2 out of 5 maybe.
Would recommend to anyone!!!
Paid almost $20 for drunken noodle that came with no chicken or meat. No flavor.
We ordered massaman curry and pineapple curry. We're pretty picky about thai food but we thought both were excellent! Very rich sauce with fresh ingredients and generous portions.
Ordered delivery last night and now have food poisoning. Have to assume cause and effect as it’s the only thing I ate yesterday.
I had no idea this place existed until I ordered some takeout via Uber Eats a week ago. It was so good I couldn’t stop thinking about getting more food from there.
I ordered online and picked it up myself this time. Fantastic food again. It’s such a nice little restaurant I’ll probably try dining in soon.
This is definitely one of my new favorites.
Love Thai Elephants! The food and service never disappoint! Green Curry tonight was incredible and the staff is always eager to please! Thank you for a wonderful meal on Valentine’s Day!
The worst phad thai EVER. Absolutely no flavor, chicken was like a rock. Ordered thru door dash & it arrived cold. NEVER AGAIN!
Spring rolls great, service is excellent
I was very disappointed that the restaurant was unable to follow the written instructions in my online pick up order placed at BeyondMenu. I asked that the calamari (2 orders!) be prepared last and and the container left open, to keep the calamari crispy. They did not and both orders were soggy and terrible tasting. Very disappointed.
Best duck dishes in Charleston! Super tender and full of flavor! Authentic Thai food!
Lovely dining experience! Food was perfectly spiced to requested levels, great portion sizes and very fresh. Service was very attentive as well. We had a great experience with take-out at Thai Elephant. we've had a lot of "drunken noodles" in our day, and Thai Elephant's version was excellent.
A little loud; but it was a full house! Great service, delicious meals !
Hidden gem on James Island. Best Thai that I've had in Charleston. The Pad See Ew and Som Tom are fantastic. Spice levels run 1-5 and they do a good job maintaining consistency with it.
It's closed

Excellent pad Thai and curry dish with chicken. Great service. More Thai food lovers need to eat at this gem!
Delicious.
Best pad-see-ew I’ve ever had. Friendly service, very prompt and clean!
This is a small, beautifully decorated restaurant. I highly recommend the Massamon Curry, Sweet and Sour and Cashew Chicken as entrees with the Mango Sticky rice as dessert. They keep it pretty cool, so have a sweater handy if you get cold easily. Enjoy!
Absolutely delicious! We stopped at this restaurant while on vacation and we wish it was closer. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. Recommended!
Absolutely amazing!!

I have dined in 3 times, each was excellent pad Thai. I ordered carry out this evening. Ready upon arrival, good! Get home and pickup paper bag from seat, bottom falls out and food ends up on asphalt. Chicken satay was able to be salvaged but, in all honesty… It was dry, the sauce was unimaginative, and I got the impression that it had been prepared awhile back in time and sat under a heat lamp waiting for someone to order it. It will be awhile before I return, if I do. Unfortunate as dine in is good.
Amazing food, wonderful staff, beautiful interior, and my favorite Thai restaurant ever!
Excellent food quality! Good service! Pleasant dining...a 2 to three was spicier than anticipated... still very good!
Best Red Chicken Curry ever. It's not even close. Everything I've had there is amazing.
Good food staff was friendly
The service and food was good and yes I will recommend this restaurant 😁😁
Family of 7, first bubble tea for kids. Gorgeous wooden carved tables. Friendly staff. LOVED THE FOOD!!
Hands down my favorite spot on the island. I'd eat here everyday if I could.
Musumon Curry Was Absolutely Delicious!
Their food is great. A little pricey, but always delicious! I recommend the curry’s and drunken noodles!

5 stars! My favorite Thai in Charleston!
No clue how this place has a 4.5 rating. Just not good. Pad Prik wasn’t even the right sauce. Not spicy and brown vs spicy and red. The pad Thai was average but had some grit down in the bottom so my last bite wasn’t so pleasant. You can do much better, Thai Elephants!!
My daughter and I love this restaurant. The food and service are great. Waitstaff is very warm and friendly. The gyoza are my 2 year old’s favorite. Thai Elephants is always first in our rotation of restaurants.
Absolutely loved the food and service. The tables and chairs were wonderful pieces of art. They made us feel really comfortable. I chose the green curry vegetables with eggplant. It was delicious with just enough spice! Thank you Thai Elephant. ❤️
High end Thai food that is exemplary and outstanding.
Great menu selection and the food was amazingly delicious. Our server was busy but made sure we were well taken care of.
really attentive staff, generous portions, and cold beer. Definitely our new go to thai spot
An excellent tucked away Thai Restaurant that gets some amazing business, for not only dine-in, but Take out/Door Dash.
Wish I had taken pictures of our meals, but we had the Basil Fried Rice and Red Curry. Both I could have time and time again. I've been here in the past and they had a great sushi menu, which seems to have gone away sadly. Regardless I'd highly recommend this restaurant. Check out the hand carved tables and chairs while you're there. They're a work of art!
Went here on a vacation to Charleston/Folly Beach. This place has the best Thai food I've ever eaten. The basil stir fry with chicken was amazing.
I have a Thai place back home that is my favorite restaurant and Thai Elephants in James Island has blown that out of the water!
The service was also great. They were super busy with carry out orders but were still with us quickly and our food came out fast!
5 stars for sure
Great service great food it's a great place to take your date to eat and relax and enjoy the atmosphere I love this place
The tables and chairs are hand carved. The food was A+! Check it out , if you like Thai food you won't be sorry.
Enjoyed the drinking noodles, going back soon
Staff very friendly and attentive. Basil fried rice was a bit bland but the Tom Kah Kai was excellent. The chicken satay was dry and a little over cooked. Based on the price we paid, I doubt we'll return.

We came in to pick up our food then went home and had some pad see ew. Worst we have ever had. We asked to make it hot. They just cracked red pepper as a dry seasoning on top and packaged it in the back. Mostly every place I have ever been in my life mixes it all in and it generally is hard to mess up I think. The meat was dry. Had five pieces of pork. Definitely not as great as it used to be and I’m not sure if we will ever go back here again. The chef must have left unfortunately. The dish was completely different than what it used to be and not even worthy of being 16 dollars. Gotta be honest here. This place was our favorite go to but it’s not worth it anymore. Sad. We tried to call in and just say it was really not the same and no one answered on three calls. Oh well.
Food was great. I wish they priced things in a normal way. Cost is alright (around 16$), but to add necessary additions to the meal costs at least 3$ (like chicken, tofu, or vegetables added to pad tai).
This feels slightly dishonest, like they’re trying to make the food seem less expensive, except the additions are essentially required to complete the meals. Preferably, they’d price the appropriate food required to complete the meal into it (increasing cost of pad tai to 19$ because chicken is included for instance) then allow people to substitute for more expensive or alternative items if they wanted.
Still good food and atmosphere, and maybe I’m over analyzing it, but that was my one complaint.
Food was horrible got sick along with wife pad tie was oily and worst I ever had
The food and service were both excellent! I never had such high expectations for a side salad but their homemade ginger dressing was to die for. 10/10.
Excellent flavors, friendly staff. Pricy, but you get good sized portions with high quality ingredients.
Found to be adequate but a little expensive.
The staff was beyond amazing, helpful and the food was delicious!
Excellent. From the service to the food, everything was exceptional. The food was so flavorful and delicious. We all ordered different items and each one tasted so good. We will definently be back here.
Amazing food every time! Hubby is never disappointed with the Pad Thai and he always asks for extra spicy and they deliver just that! I love the Pad See Ew for a mild option. The Wonton soup is yummy and the Thai iced coffee is BOMB! I love that I finally found a thai food place that I can visit with my Hubby so we now try to visit once month.
The food is pretty high quality but I do think if you are going to charge $20 a plate portions should leave a little left rather than not being entirely sure you are done eating.
I’ve been ordering Thai curries from this place for over three years. Something has changed where the quality in taste of the food is not the same. I ended up throwing out the curry dishes because they were so watery. Other than that, it’s beautiful inside and the employees are welcoming.
Ok
Used to be good but the last couple times my order was wrong, when I call back nobody picks up.
Love the food and the staff is always so friendly!
I ate here for the first time this weekend and my goodness! It was absolutely delicious. There wasn't much description on the type of noodles you were getting in the noodle dishes, so on a whim, I ordered the pad woon Sen and my boyfriend ordered the pad see ew. Blown away by the food, service, and how incredibly fast it came out feels like an understatement. I can see now why its one of my boyfriend's favorite restaurants lol we will surely be back soon and regularly.
I absolutely love Thai Elephants. They are kind, have great food, and the staff is always fun and friendly. We used to go once a month before Covid, now we get takeout every other week.
Must have the Tom kha kai soup! So good!
Excellent Thai
😟
Delicious and a great atmosphere. Small and cozy inside, so it's great for a date night.
This place is amazing!!!!
What a surprise! Looking for fantastic Thai, in South Carolina, yea I said SC. What a gem.

This place is seriously a hidden gem. It is the cleanest restaurant I've experienced in the entire city and the food is the best Thai food I've ever had. Everything tastes so fresh and has the perfect amount of sauce to me. Most people seem to pick up orders, so we are always alone when we dine in. Everytime I go, I always take a minute to admire the hand-carved tables and chairs. They're something you don't see in a typical restaurant and makes this one in particular stand out.
Excellent, savory meals. The spices were delicious!
Ordered online while staying at The Tides…Ordered Pineapple Rice, Chicken Satay and Tom Kha Kai (soup w/ coconut/chicken). Restaurant was clean, Great customer service, and the food was ready within a few minutes. The food tasted excellent! Exceeded our expectations! Do yourself a favor and take the 7 minute drive you wont be disappointed.
Absolutely love the masaman curry with a level 4 spice!
Quite atmosphere, exquisite decor excellent food. Vegan friendly.
The food here is always good. Authentic Thai, full of flavor. I do caution you about eating inside. It's usually quite warm and table service isn't very fast. I recommend carryout!
We loved the food here! The Red Curry was delicious!
Food is pretty good although the meats seem overcooked. They advertise a Sushi Happy Hour, but no longer have a Sushi chef - so no happy hour deals. Check before you go! Furniture is beautiful (intricate carved relief) but so heavy I couldn't move my chair. LOL.
The food is’t amazing.👌🏽
Always a great meal
Tasty, beautiful interior
Absolutley amazing
Easily my fav place on the island. Always delicious
Amazing flavor.
Poor service. Unprofessional server. Pat should not be chasing us out to the car when we have paid and all. Food have extremely lacking. Use to love this place. So sad.
Great takeout! We come regularly as the location is convenient and prices are reasonable. Very friendly lady at the front who is taking orders! My only complaint is that we would love to see Yellow Curry on the menu, there is no yellow curry in all of James Island!
Great place, great staff, and incredible food ! Support this local business and you won't be disappointed !!
Tables spaced apart.
Take out welcomed
Good food.
We have never had a bad experience here. The staff works their butts off and the food is always authentic and on point. One of the few places on James Island we’ve been making a point to support during these crazy times. Thank you and we look forward to dining in with y’all soon!
I’ve been going here for years, best thai food in the area! the fried rice and pad see ew are my fave dishes. always have had the best food and wonderful service every time we go. love this place!! :)
This is a great place for Thai food! I like the Pad Cha.
Decent takeout spot. The drunken noodle is good, summer rolls, and xui mai are good as well.
The food is very good with consistent quality. Contactless pick-up is fantastic, and prices are reasonable. I'll be back!
Amazing sushi great staff
The food is always great but to prepared for slow service.
The duck salad was amazing!
Excellent service
Best thai food in Charleston at a reasonable price
The food is excellent and the service is great. The tables and chairs are beautiful, but very very heavy. We had a great time and we will be back soon.
Really good! Didn't know this place existed and had never tried Thai food but had a great experience here. Cute little place with really awesome sushi and curry!
Adding on to all of the other good reviews. Stopped in for dinner tonight and was immediately impressed by the decor. Beautifully carved tables and chairs, a nice modern Asian theme. We arrive before the typical dinner hour, so were the only ones there for a while. The staff was very attentive, and the food was terrific. Our meal consisted of pork dumpling appetizer, Chicken Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles with beef. The portion size was appropriate, I left feeling stuffed. The vegetables in each dish were fresh and not overcooked. There was plenty of meat in each of our dishes as well. I would certainly recommend this restaurant anyone looking for a good meal.
Ok
Just ok
Good food.
It's really quite wonderful fool & the service was fantastic!
Very clean, off the beaten path. Presentation of pineapple fried rice was a first, in a carved out shell. Would recommend
Great atmosphere, sushi chef pays close attention to detail and makes you feel at home!
The most authentic Thai food I've ever had! (That includes Hawaii, San Diego, San Francisco and New York) The food is amazing, the staff is wonderful. Don't be in a hurry, it's not a quick bite, but a relaxed dinner!
Food was delicious and the wait staff very helpful.
