absolutely recommend the Khao Soi. One of the most delicious and unique meals i’ve ever had! 😋

Diner Review №2

Such a great place- fan favorite for Brown students. My friend who is a Restaurant Guy ™️ invited me here and I had a great time. Love the spicy pad thai and panang curry. I brought my dad here and they were playing the same four Metallica songs. We very much enjoyed that. Will definitely come again.

Diner Review №3

Just go here. The food is phenomenal and the staff is wonderful I can't speak higher enough about this place.

Best Thai food I've found in P.RI.

Diner Review №8

As Thai is my favorite cuisine (and really enjoy Laoatian) I've been looking forward to going here. For me, the food was just fine (pad see ew and tofu triangles) and the service a bit slow. Our server seemed frustrated and agitated by us and the other guests. The Thai iced tea was also extremely sweet to the point my companion could only stomach a sip or two. I'd like to come back to try other dishes, but there are other Thai spots in the area I'm more drawn to.

Diner Review №9

Amazing little hole in the wall restaurant owned by a nice old couple, the food is really legit. The only drawback is the seating is a little limited, and they don't take reservations, so go during off hours!

Diner Review №10

Great food, all fresh and authentic, the owner of the place takes pride in his work
Has a wonderful atmosphere

Lovely place, food is delicious

Diner Review №14

Had the crispy squid and pho there and the experience was horrendous. Went in and the older gentleman just stood there and stared at me, it wasn’t busy when I went in. No greetings whatsoever, then pointed to a table still have not said anything to me. Sensed the vibe is a little off. The table is super small, I was cramped in there and was not comfortable at all. Ordered the squid which was terrible, it’s normally a safe choice at all restaurant but this one was definitely the worst, was really hoping pho would be better, again, really bad. Overall a terrible experience, save yourself a trip and go somewhere else. One pho and one app comes to 31 at then end( tips included). No good

Diner Review №15

The sauce for the dishes we bought was diluted, even the Thai tea. The restaurant sauce caters to American tastes. The egg roll was off, to. No meatballs are available for my pho. When you order pho, it's either chicken, pork, beef or seafood. No combination like other Asian dishes pho. Not too many options are available on how they prepare the pho. Overall, I think it needs improvement on the sauce.

Diner Review №16

The Restaurant name said Authentic and it’s not. The recipe cater to American tastes. I had the Lardna beef and was hoping they had Asian Broccoli but got American Broccoli and carrots? The Thai Ice Tea I had was diluted. The Laab beef I had was dry and not cut thinly. There was no Lemongrass flavor in it also. American who do not eat Asian food that are not aware of this will think it’s authentic but the truth is this is not authentic at all. This is very misleading for a restaurant name.

The space is a little tight but worth it !

Diner Review №23

Wow khao soi with duck was so beautiful and even more delicious. Great customer service. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Diner Review №24

I LOVE CHAMPA!! Easily the best Thai food I’ve had in Providence. The service is super friendly, food is DELICIOUS, and it’s well-priced. Some of my favorites are the papaya salad, Laotian spicy fish, the Champa, and basil stir fry. I LOVE CHAMPA!!!!

Diner Review №25

Fantastic, would recommend the fried rice and fried brussel sprouts. The proprietor is very nice and charismatic, great service.

Diner Review №30

Absolutely wonderful! Quite a cozy vibe inside and the food is delicious. I got the chicken drunken noodles and they were fantastic. Peter (the owner) was working quite hard to be the host, server, and busser! Definitely recommend.

Diner Review №31

מקום טוב מאוד. אוכל טעים. בעל הבית מצחיק וישיר 7נותן שירות איכותי ולבבי.

Diner Review №32

Fair price, Good food, and Kind employee. It was fun to talk with you man!

Diner Review №33

The food is outstanding
Best thai laotian food I have had in the states
The owner does most of the work so you have to be patient but it is so worth it
I have had many dishes there and that have all been outstanding 👌

Diner Review №34

Fantastic papaya salad and duck Champa!

Diner Review №35

Cute little shop. Peter was wonderful and the food was prepped and made on the spot, not pre made. Deliciously seasoned and inexpensive. Drunken noodles were authentic, had great flavor and were delicious. Check it out!

Diner Review №39

Cozy place to get lunch or dinner, owner was kind and food was scrumptious! I got the pad see ew and chicken satay.

Diner Review №40

Ordered 2 pad see ew’s and side of steamed vegetables and got fried rice and spring rolls.

Diner Review №41

In a nice area but just street parking. They have a lot of Laotian style foods available here.
I liked the Pad See Ew though

Diner Review №42

Really bad experience — we came for sit in and ordered food. We waited for 50 minutes and nothing had come out, the waiter said “almost done”. After another 10 minutes I asked very politely what the time estimate for the food was - he went in the back, came out and told us we should leave. He was extremely rude, waved his hands away at us and then left. I stayed and asked what was going on, and he said he asked the check how much longer it would take, the chef said another 45 minutes and so he cancelled the order. Extremely unprofessional and rude. At no point were we loud, rude or unreasonable.

Diner Review №43

Quick, FRESH, and homely. Hubby and I LOVED this place. The food was amazing!

Diner Review №44

Diner Review №45

A nice tucked away fusion restaurant with amazing flavors. If there’s one thing I recommend it is definitely the Brussels sprouts. The crispy texture with jam packed Asian soy flavor easily makes it THE best sprouts I’ve had. While the chicken wings were crispy, I didn’t find anything unique about it. Typical wings with a sweet and sour sauce. I wished they made a dish that fused the flavors from the Brussels sprouts onto the wings. The pad see U with beef was another good dish. Sweet flavor that’s nicely stirred fried. However the beef was a little bland and not tender.

Overall, I would come back again because the flavors were on point. During busy times, the wait times are going to be 20+ minutes long. This is especially with the limited seating and only one server

Diner Review №46

The food was delicious. I had the crab Rangoon, and Khao soi. This was my first time having Laotian food and I am impressed.

Diner Review №47

Best food ever!

Diner Review №48

Our new favorite little place to eat! We came here for dinner on New Year’s Eve before heading over to the pedestrian bridge for the festivities. It’s obviously a popular spot but we were fortunate to be seated right away. The staff were super friendly and the food delicious.

Diner Review №49

Amazing homemade food. Professional yet friendly service. Feels very homey. Try the mango sticky rice, it’s truly amazing. Highly recommend. We’re lucky to have such traditional cuisine from Laos in the Fox Point neighborhood.

Diner Review №50

Probably the best restaurant in town with relationship to price and quality. The staff is friendly and engages actively in conversation, which makes you feel at home, and they have a bunch of loyal customers. They recommended me some dishes they had and they did not fail. The Khao Soi soup is the best one I tried ever since I went to northern Thailand and it tastes nearly the same as there. Prices are also very affordable and the place is cozy and smells of good food. I also went to the toilet once (which is at the kitchen) and their kitchen is very clean. Would recommend 10/10.

Diner Review №51

Perhaps the best place to eat on this side of the city. Really cozy, prompt service and the quality of the food is really high. It feels like you’re eating at someone’s home and not at a restaurant

Diner Review №52

Starting off with the fact that the space is a bit cramped. Not much they can do about it so please expect a wait. I feel bad because I went there with a large group which they were happy to accommodate.
The food was very good and tasted authentic and home cooked. I can taste they passion they put into making their food. the favors feel just right and i cannot wait to come back again.

Diner Review №53

This place was so good!! I went with one other person on a Saturday mid-afternoon and only one other party was there. I would say the atmosphere was very quiet and some music/ambient sounds would have been nice, but again we were there at a weird time so maybe it does get loud in there. We both ordered off the specialties menu, 1 spicy fish and 1 Champa. Both were amazing but know that the spicy fish is spicy!! I loved it. We also shared a small Tom Kha Gai (as an appetizer it was small to share between two, best to just get your own). This soup healed us, it was so delicious. If you like refreshing coconut but with a little spice then definitely get this. They also have hot tea, comes in a cute pot and is a good amount for two people to share. The food portions were perfect and we even took a little to go at the end. The server was super nice and had great timing (like asking how things were and stuff- we didn't feel bothered or rushed). Highly recommend and I will be returning :)

Diner Review №54

Very good food! We were visiting family and from out of town. Highly recommend.

Diner Review №55

Unbelievably flavorful and delicious. The spicy papaya salad is amazing as is the Khao Soi and Brussels sprouts

Diner Review №59

The owner was rude and very cheap/concerned about money as the phrase “too much money” was uttered repeatedly. I wanted to order several seafood dishes but was told they did not have scallops because it cost too much money. I the. Replied to the owner that he could not charge the menu prices if he did not have the scallops as advertised. He seemed irritated and told me to order something else. I ordered my dishes and the food was ok in comparison to other restaurants. We had 3 people in our party and only one small cup of rice was placed on the table. I asked to see if he could bring a large bowl of rice out… “too expensive” replied the owner. He brought one more cup of rice, now at this point I was getting very upset as I felt like I was inconveniencing him. I told him that we have 3 people and he only brought 2 cups of rice. He finally brought out the 3rd cup of rice. His waiter broke a plate and he yelled out $5 to the waiter. By far this was the worse restaurant experience I have ever had and not sure how this place received 4.5 stars. The place was small and cramped, service is horrible as if it was my privilege to eat there. I can see that the owner took a different tone of voice when speaking to his non-Asian customers and maybe felt that I was not able to pay for the food. I will never return to this place and heed my warning that if a restaurant owner feels inconvenienced by the customer he should find another business. The mission statement: “We hope to share our culture through the recipes we grew up on, while making each customer feel at home.” This statement could not be more untrue.

Diner Review №60

Absolutely delicious. Truly truly truly one of the best food I’ve ever eaten. The Khao Soi was one of the most scrumptious things I’ve ever devoured

Diner Review №61

I agree with reviewers. Best Laotian food I have had in the States. Highly recommend.

Diner Review №62

Love 🤩true authentic Thai and Lao cuisine

Diner Review №63

Just ordered delivery from here, never having tried it before. SO good. I got the Khao Soi and it was incredibly delicious. Everything arrived hot and ready to eat. Will definitely be ordering from here again!

Diner Review №64

So gooooood

Diner Review №65

Got some pad see u with added seafood and spring rolls; spring rolls delightfully crisp without being overly salty like a lot of other spring rolls can be, and the noodles were delicious with crisp veggies and fresh seafood. I'll definitely be back.

The food is SO GOOD. We got chicken pad thai and the chompa special + thai iced tea and the Laotian spring rolls. Everything was so fresh and well cooked with so much flavor. Service was so friendly and quick. Would come back for dinner anytime.

Diner Review №75

Easy recommendation- will be bringing everyone that I want to impress here. The taste is so authentic and the staff is so friendly. The papaya salad was so good that I didn’t care how spicy each bite was!

Diner Review №76

I don't usually write reviews but this was incredible. I got the Khao Soi and Pad Thai and was blown away. Service was prompt and friendly and the food was ready quickly and packaged neatly for take out. I've eaten at Heng as well as Bee's Thai in the same area and this is my favorite.

Diner Review №77

Authentic and delicious! Highly recommend!

Diner Review №78

Excellent food, amazing service! The khao soi was unlike anything I’ve ever had before, absolutely delicious. Could not recommend more.

Diner Review №80

Diner Review №81

Best Mango Curry and Duck in the city!

Diner Review №82

Loved the Khao Soi Laotian Dish..rest of our orders were okay! Small place with no alcoholic drinks for purchase.

Diner Review №83

Diner Review №84

Hidden gem. Go there and try the Laotian version of the foods you may have had at other places. Get the whole fish. Get the papaya salad and always get sticky rice when its the option.

Diner Review №85

Descent food. Service could be improved and more polite.

Diner Review №86

Diner Review №87

Food is excellent.

However, being new the staff is overworked and less than patient if you ask adjustments like less noodles or the heat levels.

It is small and lots of tables crowded together. So expect your neighbors to bump into your table as they try to walk to their table.

Diner Review №88

The person behind the counter was not friendly and kind of push customers away. Or only to ones he prefer.

Diner Review №89

Incredibly delicious khao sui! 5 stars

Diner Review №90

Great food, great service, comfy atmosphere

Diner Review №91

Diner Review №92

Incredible food, and most importantly, incredibly authentic Lao/Thai food. We ordered khao soi and drunken noodles with a starter of spring rolls. The food was extremely tasty with just the right mix of spice and savoury flavours. Service was prompt and the owners are extremely friendly and helpful. A must-visit if you’re in Providence.

Diner Review №93

My fourth time here! I keep coming back because the food is so, so good. The restaurant owner was also really friendly, he chatted with us even as they were packing up the restaurant. Brought a visiting Singaporean friend here this evening, and we agreed that this takes us back home to Southeast Asia. Love the food. Will be back here many, many more times :)

Diner Review №94

Delicious, fresh, and huge portions. Service was friendly and prompt. Gave us a free sticky rice for my birthday! I’ll be back!

Diner Review №95

Reliable food - nothing stood out as incredibly amazing, but it is all good and something I would eat again. The restaurant is small so it can be difficult to get seating during the dinner rush. It would probably be better for takeout.

Diner Review №96

First class service the food was delicious 😋

Diner Review №97

Come for the BEST Thai food in Rhode Island (hands down, no debate!), stay for the Lao Duck Pho. (The duck in general is superb, but so is everything!).

Diner Review №98

I recently visited Champa Thai + Lao Restaurant and I must say, I am extremely disappointed with the overall experience. As someone who has over 10 years of experience in the food service industry, I have high expectations when it comes to dining out. Unfortunately, Champa Thai + Lao Restaurant failed to meet those expectations in every possible way.

Upon entering the restaurant, not a single person greeted us. It was a chaotic scene, with no wait list in place and patrons trying to figure out who was next to be seated. This lack of organization was the first red flag.

I have lived in both Thailand and Laos for a while, so I have a good understanding of the culture and food. However, I was shocked to find that the food served at Champa Thai + Lao Restaurant was not authentic in any way. In fact, I wouldn't even know what to call it. The dishes were far from the traditional Thai and Lao cuisine I have come to love.

The ambiance of the restaurant was also disappointing. It looked like a restaurant from the south side of Chicago and was incredibly dirty. The table we were seated at had not been properly cleaned, and the rag used to clean it looked like it was used to clean something off the kitchen floor. The overall appearance of the restaurant was uninviting and made me question the cleanliness of the kitchen.

The bathroom was in very poor condition, which only added to my concerns about the cleanliness of the kitchen. When I asked the wait staff for the bathroom, I was met with a rude response. This was a clear indication of the type of service I could expect for the rest of the meal.

When it came to the food, I was extremely disappointed. The portions were small, and the quality of the food was subpar. The dishes we ordered - Laotian-style Soft Spring Rolls (Naim Chao), Chicken Satay, Stir-fried Vegetables, and Runny Beef Panang Curry - were all lacking in flavor and freshness. The chicken satay had too much coconut milk/cream, making it incredibly rich and overpowering. The stir-fried vegetables were lacking in tofu, and the beef panang curry was too runny.

We also had to ask for our drinks twice, and each time the waiter seemed annoyed by our request for water. The bill was not itemized, which was another inconvenience. The service was incredibly slow, and I could have cooked the food faster at home. To top it off, the staff dropped off the check right after delivering the main course, while we were still eating. This was extremely rude and made us feel rushed to leave.

In conclusion, Champa Thai + Lao Restaurant is not a place I would recommend to anyone. The food was overpriced and of poor quality, the service was rude, and the overall ambiance was uninviting. I have never encountered such a disappointing dining experience, and I would advise anyone looking for authentic Thai or Lao cuisine to look elsewhere.

Diner Review №99

Food was so amazing!!! Basil chicken stir fry, red curry chicken, tom yum soup. I will come back here again & again. 5/5

Diner Review №100

Order Khao Soi, Champa with duck, and Pad Thai. Everything was delicious! The noodles seem to have very generous portions.

Diner Review №101

there’s limited seating so we unfortunately had to get take out. I got drunken noodles and they were the best drunken noodles i have ever tried. I also got thai tea and it was soooooooooo good too definitely coming back

Diner Review №102

My experience at Champa Thai + Lao Restaurant was, unfortunately, quite disappointing. The restaurant has a limited seating capacity, with only six tables for four and one small table for two. Upon arrival, there was a noticeable wait, and not a single staff member acknowledged us when we entered. We were left to wait with no communication on how long it might take.

When we finally got to order, we chose the Chicken Satay ($8.50), Laotian-style Soft Spring Rolls (Naim Chao) ($8.50), Stir-fried Vegetables and Tofu ($12), and Beef Panang Curry ($16) with brown rice ($3). However, the brown rice never arrived, and since the bill wasn't itemized, we couldn't tell if we were charged for it. The service was slow throughout our visit, and our water glasses were never refilled. To make matters worse, the check was dropped off while we were still eating, making us feel rushed to leave.

As for the food itself, it was underwhelming, and nothing particularly stood out. It was alright at best, but not enough to make up for the lack of attentive service and overall experience. Regrettably, we don't plan on returning to Champa Thai + Lao Restaurant in the future.

I have been to at least a hundred Thai restaurants, this is the BEST one I have tried. Amazing food. Totally authentic, delicious and incredibly fresh. Owned by a single family, this restaurant will not disappoint! Highly recommend the crispy duck!

Diner Review №106

Really loved my lunch here, especially their unique Laotian dishes & Thai favorites!

Diner Review №107

Ordered food through their website, got charged, called the restaurant twice after 45 minutes, no one answer. walked to the restaurant to ask what was going on, the owner yelled at me and said that doordash was taking over the website, and he wouldn’t give me a refund and refused to even make the food i ordered. He didn’t even apologize and instead blamed the situation on me when I simply went through their website. i left the restaurant hungry and furious. never coming here ever again. Don’t support businesses who take my money and give nothing in return.

Diner Review №108

tried to order through the website and they refused to complete the order after charging the card. went in person only to get screamed at by the owner and never even got my food. horrible customer service!

We were so pleasantly surprised when we saw a new Laotian/Thai restaurant open up in the neighborhood. We went in to be greeted by the owner who was so welcoming and helpful especially with a 1 year old with us. I recently dined at Champa and was blown away by the delicious food and excellent service. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and seated at a cozy table. The menu had a wide variety of dishes to choose from, and I ended up ordering the vegetarian Khao Soi. The portion sizes were generous and the prices were very reasonable. Overall, I had an excellent dining experience at Champa and will definitely be returning soon.
