Thai cuisines with a cozy atmosphere...
We love Green Basil they have the best Thai Cuisine around every time I say, "Let's go out to eat." Someone always asks for Green Basil. Their flavors are always on point. You can taste their use of quality ingredients. My personal favorites are the Drunken Noodles, the Lion City Noodles, and their Papaya salad.
First of all, I’ll begin by saying that I have eaten here a number of times before and their food is always generally good. I recommend it to ppl and everything! However, it seems like they are never well staffed to meet the demand they have generated.
This day I convinced my coworkers to order from here so that it could be our new go to food place. I ordered online. The order was to be ready between 6:20 and 6:25. I got there at 6:36 for pick up and my food wasn’t ready until 6:51. I then go to get my food from the counter and the lady didn’t want to give it to me despite my showing her my receipt…it was busy so ok.
I’m rushing and don’t check my order… (even tho I didn’t have time for them to correct the order). One of my coworkers has a sensitivity to carrots and onions 🙃 so she requested no carrots or onions in her drunken noodles…. And she got carrots and onions, so she could not have any of it. They did not put carrots or onions in the panang curry as requested but the sauce had an odd slimy quality. I’m unsure why. I have had their curries before and they are usually great!
Generally made for a very disappointing experience. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone who doesn’t want their food as is.
Our favorite place for dining out! Great food and service! The restaurant is owned by a wonderful loving family who takes great care of their customers. Our favorite items to order are Thai iced tea, Thai iced coffee, the appetizer sampler, khao piak and fried ice cream. That’s just to name a few. We have plenty more favorite dishes.
We were in the neighborhood and someone asked Do you like Thai? “YES, we do!!! Green Basil is great! The red curry was delicious as was the chicken Basil. We ordered sticky and coconut rice which cost extra, worth every cent! I went with the level 2 for spicy (thinking 1 would be too mild and 3 way too spicy) we’ll, it was VERY SPICY indeed, the waitress warned me. I still enjoyed it very much but will try level 1 next time with my red curry! The super spicy flavor combined with the sweetness of the coconut rice…ooh la la, chef’s kiss! The service was awesome, it’s a family run business and the waitress and host was hustling! No slacking she and her father-in-law kept customers happy. We got there at about 7 and most tables were full about 30 mins in- on a Wednesday! Definitely looking forward to returning especially since I’ve always wanted to try this place every time I drove by.
The food is pretty good, and the prices are great! I got pad se ew, and my husband got the drunken noodles. We got the brussel sprouts for appetizer along with the rangoons. The sprouts were all roasted and delicious.
The waitress was handling all the phone calls, take out orders, AND waiting of tables so she was incredibly busy. She kept mentioning to everyone, though anyone with eyes could have seen how busy she was. There was a man there who was cleaning up and apparently directing her who could have helped out a bit more but didn't seem that interested, which seemed like a poor allocation of labor. I thought that he could have helped her more considering the line out the door for take out. It just seemed poorly managed on a Friday night.
After ordering delivery of Green Basil for over a year. I finally dropped in to eat in person. Mimi was my awesome waitress and the food was quickly prepared, super tasty and I loved the Thai tea. I will definitely come back. Additionally, I ordered papaya salad and pineapple fried rice To Go...two of my favorite menu selections
I heard good reviews about this place, but overall it was just okay. Our crab rangoon came and when we bit into it 2/7 of them had small parts where it was still frozen. The waitress was in a rush while taking our order, she was polite, but rushed us because she had other tables to wait on. She did not ask us what spice level we wanted either. My drunken noodles were way too spicy for me so I only had few bites. Overall taste was good.

The drunken noodles are awesome and so is the pad thai.
Great food great service !
This place is really good BUT they keep adding egg to my order even though I told them no egg due to egg allergy. I’m reviewing cuz I love yall but with the allergy it’s tough
Great food but I'd rather get Tai from Jackys galaxy there understaffed always busy they always say 20 to 25 mins but then I'm waiting an extra 25 mins it's never ready I've had it with this place but if your fine with waiting then the food is great
Deliciosa comida, buen precio
Wow ordered tom yum soup got one shrimp and 8 quartered mushrooms never had soup with so little in it. Sticky wings good. So disappointed
Best wonton soup!
Great food, always friendly service, fair pricing and plenty of parking. We love the spicy drunken noodle!!
I love the food here. It’s very reasonably priced. Whenever I’m visiting my family I always eat here at least once(depending how long I’m visiting for) and sometimes I get one to take back home
yummy
Delicious food, marked down for service because two of three times we’ve ordered takeout they forget to include an item.

Drunken Noodles - yummmmm. I love it! Very good level of spice.
Always good, big portions.
Ordered take out. Did not receive one of the meals and had to go back to the restaurant to get it. They also forgot to add the protein to one of the meals. The dishes with tofu contain very little tofu and are mostly vegetables. Would like to see more tofu in meals and doublechecking of bags to ensure they have all food ordered.

I'm delivery and it lasted more than an hour waiting for an order
Food is great, will definitely go again.
My ordered from green basil was Terrible i’ve been going there for quite some time now and the food was always delicious but my Most recent visit was terrible I ordered soft spring rolls. They wrapped them in 2 rice paper 🤮I ordered beef lard and it was so much basil and mint in it. I couldn’t taste anything else. It was the worst experience I had there. They must have a new cook I called and expressed my concern and they didn’t offer no compensation or nothing terrible. I won’t be going back there. I need to find another Asian restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend any dish there cause I think there’s a new cook because the food no longer taste the same
I’ve always come here for their soups and papaya salad. Plus the chicken wings, so delicious! The atmosphere is relaxing and service is great. Always make sure you have everything you need.
Some of the best Thai food I’ve found in the area. Last time we went we got Penang Curry and Kao Soi and they were both phenomenal.
My husband and I love itt!!
Best Thai curry -- red, green, yellow, or massaman -- in RI! Always delicious 😋 We love this place for dine-in and take-out.
I love this place, the food is delicious and the employees are very nice.
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL & IGNORANT
We have been going to green basil for a good amount of time. Last night, we ordered take out. We got the chicken with broccoli stir fry and the Khao Soi. At the bottom of the chicken and broccoli container was a bug. This was very unappetizing and I immediately threw away the rest of my food. After paying a good amount of money for this food, it was really disheartening to see this. On top of this, the food portions were much smaller than usual and we were paying the same price as before when they had good portion sizes. We will not be back to green basil for a long time and will be going to a different Thai restaurant from now on. I recommend them fixing this issue in their kitchen.
Delicious and fresh! They were able to accommodate our group of 9 pretty quickly and my gluten allergy. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommend!
My fiancé and have sat down for dinner at this place a handful of times, each time our visit is relatively the same. 1 host/waitress/bar tender/cashier/takeout person. Ive talked to our waitress and told her the owner should hire more people so she can have some help. I was told her brother is the owner. She definitely needs some help in there because she cannot handle doing it all.
Came for lunch, went with the vegetarian Fiery Pad Thai it was absolutely delicious! Came out quick had a ton of veggies. I will totally come again!
Best Chinese/Thai in the entire town for sure. Very welcoming servers and staff. Food is out of this world. Definitely worth giving it a try!
All I can say is I'll be back for sure. My wife suggested this place as we were driving home. What a great lil place! I was pleasantly surprised.
Incredible! The majority of the menu can be made gluten free, even the CRAB RANGOONS! The staff were kind and knowledgeable when discussing my allergy. I got the coconut soup gf, chicken and shrimp pad Thai gf, beef, cashew gf and the crab Rangoons gf. The food was incredible. You got a lot of good quality food for what you pay. Cannot recommend this establishment enough!
I’ve been coming here for years and the service or food quality never changes. Best Thai food hands down and amazing service. Love this place!
We have ordered delivery from this place 3 times in the last week. It is that good. Highly recommend the chicken wings and spicy pad thai. Can't go wrong with anything from here. Fresh, fast, healthy and flavorful.
Just called to see if they were open bad attitude on the person who pick up there was no need for the attitude you did not have to pick up
Dishes are really cool and tasty
Food was very good.
Excellent food! I always get so excited to order from here, but the I always end up annoyed when the food is not ready on time. Take out is horrible, the wait is usually over an hour, close to an hour and half.
The food was great and served very quickly.
Great food always fresh. Been there many times and service is top especially they know you by name or as a regular.
This is my favorite Providence area Thai restaurant.
The food is so great, and the price per portion is very fair.
The only thing that would make this place a better experience would be to up the amount of staff on hand, and whether you eat in or take out there’s always a long wait. There’s usually only one person working front of house.
I have had several bad experiences but it is walking distance from my house and food is decent so I end up going there.
They always try to cheat with prices. Once I dined in with family, they made mistake with our order, gave us two of the same item. When we clarified the problem, they said to take one to go and won’t charge us. When they brought the receipt to us, it didn’t have the extra item. They took the card and when they returned it after swiping, they had ADDED that extra item! Who does that? If they had told us ahead of time, we wouldn’t have been upset but they literally tried to cheat us!
And similar thing happened when I ordered to go.
That was the last time ever!
Food is average! I would say go if you want to but please check your bill twice!
Food quality has gone downhill over the years and they always try to cheat with the prices. Overcharging and lying about a mistake rather than fixing it. Multiple same experiences and now I’ll never go back
We love Green Basil!!
What a hidden gem this is! I am so happy to have been introduced to this family run establishment. The food is very fresh and extremely delicious. We have tried the sticky wings, Thai spring rolls, pork dumplings, vegetable lo mein and vegetable fried rice. You can't go wrong with any of those choices. The owners are so kind and so friendly. You won't regret it!
Second time I ordered on my way home from work. I live in pascoag 35 min away. I would travel here just to get their delicious dishes. Don't even taste salt as some other Asian places. Need low salt. Very nice hostess and as mentioned best by far. You won't be disappointed. I wish they were closer to pascoag/ chepachet area! Thx for great dish.
The food is pretty good, and the prices are great! I got pad se ew, and my husband got the drunken noodles. We got the brussel sprouts for appetizer along with the rangoons. The sprouts were all roasted and delicious.

The staff is so nice and the food is amazing!
-From your friend
This is both my husband and my favorite Thai restaurant in Rhode Island! The staff is always pleasant and they genuinely care about their customers - especially Mimi and her grandfather. The food is consistent & for the high quality of food (ingredients are always fresh), you really can't beat the prices. Also, they are always willing to customize the food if you have any dietary requirements or restrictions. For entrees, my husband loves the spicy fish with coconut rice, and I love the chicken pad thai, the ginger duck, and the tom kha gai soup. For appetizers, we can't get enough of their brussel sprouts, chicken satay, & spring rolls. We've been coming here for years & have brought family & friends & they love it too. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Rhode Island!
If I could give zero stars I would. When I walked in it was immediately a chaotic atmosphere. One woman with blue hair was trying to run the whole restaurant. I understand she was trying to her best but it was very crazy to watch. She was swearing and yelling at people and not speaking to the people who were waiting for over 30 minutes to pick up their food orders. Not to mention that there were customers getting their own drinks at the bar and cleaning the restaurant as well as going to the back to get things for the customers. To me that was not a good look at all. I left without my food because I could not wait there any longer. I will not be going there again. I hope this restaurant hires new staff and trains them on good customer service.
The one staff I saw was very friendly, but quite busy trying to run the bar, greet guests, and take care of the few tables that were there at the same time. She was definitely doing her best, but it was unfortunately too much for a single person to reasonably do.
She was the highlight of the visit, though, because the food was quite disappointing. The pad thai was kind of bland; there was definitely a hint of something trying to happen flavorwise, but it just didn't make it all the way. I don't know if the chef was trying to dial the usual robust flavors of Thai food back for an American audience, but if so, they definitely dialed it back way too far.
My sisters took me here when I came back home to visit and I cannot believe I never ate there while living in north providence. First of all, the elder man that owns it I’m guessing is the absolute sweetest! God bless his soul and the staff. They are wonderful. The food AMAZING. Must try!!!!
Food was great. Got the Pannang Curry, it was absolutely delicious. Service was amazing too. The curry we got was spice level 7 and it was way too spicy for our liking. After going back, the nice server at the front desk kindly gave us a side of curry broth to even out the spice. Goes to show how good the service is here, thank you.
Exelente, me encanta Exelente comida y un gran servicio siempre , muy buenos precios
Absolutely the best Thai in Rhode Island..North Providence GEM
10 our of 10 experience! Great customer service, very friendly! And food was delicious!
Shrimp shumai and House peanuts- peanuts delicious app choices!
Yellow curry and Pad thai - great entrees 10 out of 10! Very fresh and went great with the house peanuts.
Oh my God the food here is the best Thai food in RI... The service is phenomenal and the owners are delightful... You have to try the Thai Noodle soup especially if your a fan of Pho... This restaurant is AWESOME!!!
Phenomenal food, great service, amazing hospitality and customer service. A must go!
Seriously under staffed and over priced food. Do not recommend this place . Still waiting on the sticky rice for my son too😂. Place is a joke ! I ordered the sizzling combo and got 1 shrimp , 1 piece of calamari and a couple slithers of imitation crab for 17 dollars . Left hungry and disappointed .
Absolutely love this place I moved down to north providence about 4 years ago and couldn’t find a place but couldn’t find a good pho place and then I found this place and it’s been nothing but great and delicious
Loved it. Very cozy The price was very reasonable
Amazing Thai cuisine. Beautiful ambience. Excellent service. Loved the food very very much. Must visit. Definitely one of the best Thai restaurants in the Rhode Island.
I LOVE this place so much!! It’s definitely my go to for Thai food in Rhode Island. The staff are wonderful, the food is amazing and whether you eat in or take out you are treated like family. I highly recommend them!!
Love their coconut milk soup and their pai Thai, do wish they would give peanuts on the side but it's by far the best pai Thai in the state.
I like this place and it's friendly staff. Food is fresh and really tasty. I Recommend the Brussels sprouts appetizer.
Got take out here about 30 times during covid, get the “fiery pad Thai” it is incredible… Pops is the man!
Delicious and filling. Not annoying crowded, just a perfect experience.
I love this place. Family owned, food is authentic and the staff are very loving. Their Kao Piek is amazing. If you want authentic Thai/Laos food you definitely gotta try this place out!!!!
One of my go-to places for Thai food. Everything here just hits the spot.
Never a bad meal or experience at this place. Always top notch.
Good tasting food would come again
Good Thai place; not too expensive.
Ordered the Massaman curry (chicken option)last night-it was excellent! Just the right the right amount of spiciness for this curry dish- and just the right amount of coconut milk/curry sauce…it was a generous portion as well. Would Highly recommend this dish especially if you love curry. I will most certainly try the yellow, green, and red curry dishes as well at Green Basil! And looking forward to trying some of the noodle dishes. Thank you Green Basil for a delicious meal!
We were in the neighborhood and someone asked Do you like Thai? “YES, we do!!! Green Basil is great! The red curry was delicious as was the chicken Basil. Definitely looking forward to returning especially since I’ve always wanted to try this place every time I drove by.
We had our first visit to Green Basil this week and loved everything about the experience. Our take out order was ready when promised and hot and fresh. The restaurant was attractive and clean and the team member who greeted and served us was friendly and attentive.
The best part was when we got home to dig into the Drunken Noodles, Crab Rangoon, Chicken Satay, and rice.
Everything was fresh, well prepared, and done just right.
I’m really looking forward to our next visit when we will dine in as a family - great atmosphere!
Best place to get pho & the atmosphere is very family oriented I would highly recommend over any other restaurant 🥰
Great service good food
Have driven by so many times and never tried it. Finally ordered takeout and the food was so good, will definitely order again.
Very impressed!
We order from here almost every week! Love the Brussels sprouts and soft rolls. The pad Thai is really good and the duck soup is perfect when fighting a cold or you need a pick me up. I love the spring rolls to share. Sometime we get the scallion pancakes or the chicken satay. Love eating there too.
10/10 recommend ❤
Very pricey. . Food was ok. Out of budget
Went for the first time and boy was I pleasantly surprised. My husband loves Thai food and has tried so many places. This is the best he has tried in the New England area. We started off with the appetizer sampler, scallion pancakes and sticky rice. Everything was really good and so fresh!! Every bite my taste buds became alive. The Thai soft spring rolls are the bomb! Omg so delicious. The dipping sauces were delicious as well. We finished with the beef pho and hands down the best Pho we have tried around!!!! My husband thought Pho Horns was going to remain his top choice around here for Pho but not anymore!!! Only thing that was a let down was their air conditioning quit so it was super super hot but not their fault. Everybody has to wait for a repairman. We will definitely be back and sooner than later!!!!!
One of the best Thai places in the area.
Clean food! Fresh ingredients! Tons of veggie options! Amazing taste!
Drunken Noodle and Winter Shrimp gets the chef’s kiss!
It’s also a great place to do homework while you eat! BYOW (bring your own WIFI / LTE)
SUGGESTION:
Have a drink while you study (21+ of course) and really spice up your night!
Friendly staff, and they don’t rush you (me) out, assuming that you (I) order appropriately order for your (my) duration of stay.
Excellent food and excellent service.
Green basil is the BOMB the food is delicious I love the spicy papaya salad with the sticky rice or the laab gai to start light and fresh with a bit of a kick and my all time go to every time is the red duck curry! Nowhere else compares to green basil's soft and tender yet crunchy duck 😋 mimi is a superstar waitress if you meet her you won't ever forget her! It's all love at green basil I love it there
The first time I went to this place, it was by mistake and I am glad that I made that mistake.
This place is a hidden gem. The Thai curries here are amazing and SPICY.
If you are looking for spicy food, just tell the waitress and they can surprise you with the amount they can spice it up.
My favorite is Green Basil Special with ground chicken.
Service is very good. They even remember what my fav food is.
Very highly recommended.
Food was good, reasonably priced. Service was quick and friendly
Very slow due to volume of orders and lack of staff. Good was still great.
Friendly staff food was great with lots of options would recommend and would go again
All their food was excellent service was great would highly recommend to anyone who likes Thai food.
Good when eat in not so good delivery
Great food and great service
I'm no greenhorn when it comes to green basil. In my short time in Rhode island, it has been a consistent go to spot for me and has never disappointed! I have brought many individuals to this restaurant and they've also been consistently impressed with the quality and flavor. The location is accessible, the parking generous, the service friendly and the dishes exceptionally flavorful and proportioned with the average American in mind. I also judge Thai restaurants by the pad Thai and the Thai tea, though there are obvious other great dishes here, and it is undeniable that they slam dunk on the basics as well as they do on the more unique dishes. This is the best restaurant in Rhode island, in my opinion.
Food smelled like asss
Our waitress was wonderful but we had the quail and have been vomiting and using the bathroom like crazy, shakes, body soreness… 100% food poisoning 🤭😩🤕
Very good. Order ahead. Ready when you get there
First time ordering from Green Basil but it won’t be our last! The food is so fresh and delicious!
We ordered pad tai, appetizer sampler and chicken fried rice. Everything was fantastic. They were so busy and the staff was working so hard. Mimi waited on us and she was amazing!
We can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic Khao soi - possibly the best I've had. All the food was phenomenal.
Delicious Thai food, pick up, dine in, or delivery. Try the Green Basil House Special and Drunken Noodles. The Sticky Rice is amazing also. Very nice owner, very clean restaurant, and great service.
10/27/21
Got delivery and it was excellent. Ordered Drunken Noodles and Shrimp Shumai Order arrived a few minutes early. . The noodles were perfectly cooked, not overcooked and the veggies really fresh. The chef followed my request. Shrimp Shumai was good too.
Very friendly server! We ordered Chicken Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles. Pad Thai was sweeter than we like, but still good. Drunken Noodles right amount of heat and love the soft consistency of noodles. Good overall.
This place is amazing every time we go. The staff are super sweet, the food is great, and the ambience is classic. We love the Khao Soi (sp?) Noodles and have never been disappointed by one of their curries either. Lots of good vegan options and last time we were there I had the (obviously not vegan) tilapia which was fantastic too! Lots of classic Thai food stuff here - Thai iced tea and bubble tea and I'm hoping to try the mango sticky rice dessert on my next stop in! They also do good take out and they have a parking lot which is always a plus.
Place has bugs!!! Don’t go here to eat. Disgusting
Pad Thai was the worst I have ever had…
Food and service is always great!
Delicious fried Duck
Hand down the best Thai food in the area. Food is amazing, vegetables are always fresh, awesome staff and a nice little place. Perfect for a date. I often drive 25 min just to eat here.
Best Thai food around!!!
My favorite place to be! Food is amazing, customer service is great. We bring families from out of state when they visit to get one of our favorite duck noodle soup. Never disappoint when it comes to the food.
Dishes not the same from menu listings! Waitress very nice though she took 10 percent off
Food is good but service is very very slow. We didn’t get our food 45 minutes later since we sat down and place our order. Our waitress appeared scattered and overwhelmed ( and NO it wasn’t her first day) The place wasn’t busy.🤷🏻♀️
great food, reasonable prices, nice service
When we arrived someone with a similar name had taken our order on accident. The staff was very helpful and apologetic and helped us get it back and even gave us a free side. On top of that the food was delicious. Great service and great food would definitely order here again.
Always a great experience. They also have a extremely covid friendly pickup process.
