Pared-down eatery featuring typical Thai fare, including green curry, noodles & rice dishes.
The people complaining about the spice level are wild. I get a 10 every time, and it's not that spicy. Red curry is always delicious! And the fresh rolls are awesome.
Love the food here. My favorite is Drunken Chicken Noodles (this place has the best). I also like Pad Thai, Fried Rice and Curries here. The soup there serve for free as appetizer is one of favorite soups.
My only complain with this place is the spice level. It doesn't matter what you say, 2 or 3 (out of 10), if you are Asian then you are getting spicy food. If you are non Asian and like really spicy food then good luck, because no matter what you say (8 or 9 out of 10) you will get food that's not very spicy.
Okay Thai food! Got noodles and green curry and both were good, a bit on the oily side. I did not like the "smell" of chicken pieces in noodle dish and green curry was super spicy (considering that I had picket level 1, minimum possible for both foods)
I agree with other reviews saying the value is good, this is probably the cheapest Thai food in downtown. But I would not eat here again....
Someone needs to take control over spicy levels at this restaurant!! You can’t give people level 10 when they order level 1! This is dangerous!
I wasn’t able to eat the food I ordered through Seamless (Grubhub) because if I did I’d end up in an emergency room with serious pancreatitis attack. Guess who’d be carrying a law suit in that case? This is no joke and their management needs to instruct the staff on that matter!
This is the closest Thai restaurant to me so it’d be convenient to get my dinners from here but if I pay my $50 for something I have to throw away then no thanks!
I’d strongly recommend the owner to investigate and take action! Order for Tatiana 10/19/23
Other than Chicken Curry and Beef garlic Pepper that went straight to the garbage bin Tom Yum and Thai Iced Tea were fine.
Great Thai food! Please be careful when selecting your spice level. The food is pretty spicy! I go four stars if I’m at work and five if I’m not. Always a great meal. The staff is always really nice and helpful.
The food was terrible. Leftover. The coconut soup was sour and the rice was salty, smoochy, and full of a sweet liquid. The only thing that was fresh was the crab rangoon. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EAT FROM THAT RUN DOWN PLACE.
Great spot

Great food, chill people. Be careful on the spice level though, level 5 had me sweating like crazy.

Food is delicious (particularly the pad thai) and the atmosphere is cozy. Definitely call ahead during lunch as they can get busy. My only recommendation would be to consider a larger space or a second location as it seems to be a pretty popular spot.
excellent food, good selection, great iced coffee. Quick attentive service
Siam’s menu lists Thai appetizers, soups, curries, main courses, noodles, rices, sides, and beverages. Prices are reasonable.
I ordered samosas, crab rangoon, spring rolls, green curry with shrimp, pad thai with chicken, and pad see ew with duck. The employees quickly cooked these foods. The foods were fresh and tasted good.
Truly a gem. Recently has become one of my favorite lunch spots. Everything is very affordable and absolutely delicious. I get the pad thai like once a week now. please learn from my mistakes though - everything is very hot! if you think you should get a 5, get a 3!
Good food. Loved the food and the spice levels they offer.
The staff are incredibly efficient and the food is fantastic
Went random times and always served quality food definitely a must check out for tourists one of the finest in the burgh
Little hole in the wall with great food. Good spice level and sweetness was perfect. Had a bit of a yucky smell when we first got there early for lunch but quickly disappeared as people came in and the food started getting cooked.
I've been coming here on the days im in the office downtown for months. I love it so much! It's the perfect variety of choices, all fresh and authentic. And the PRICE!! OMG so affordable. You cannot beat the lunch prices.
Been coming here for years (sometimes 2x a week) and everything is always delicious!
Ordered the Thai fried rice and it was too oily. The Tom yum soup wasn’t that great either
I usually get the spring roll plate which is good but the reason I continue to come back is that there's a beautiful Asian woman that takes and brings out your meal.

The drunken noodle takeout I ordered was pretty tasty, and I liked the pieces of cabbage tossed in with the noodles. Service was terse and cold, but efficient, if a bit begrudging.
Sucks! No service at all! Wrong package food only 2 customers! Drunk beggar walk in and the owner done nothing! Never come again! Food is fishy and no utensil !!!
The food at Siam was extremely good! The chef prepared the food quick and to perfection. The flavors were on point. Our server was great and recommend the garlic pepper which was a hit! Thai food is my favorite and not every restaurant makes it well. For the price, flavors and quantity of food received this place is a must visit if in Pittsburgh!
Good good, but not the best. Fun experience.
Great food. Tight quarters. I wish they would update their takeout containers-- they use Styrofoam and in addition to being an environmental hazard, they seem to melt a little bit...
Very very good!
An incredible introduction to Thai food for me. While I have had food from a trendy, reservation based restaurant that provided Thai food in the past, this felt like a far more culturally rich and approachable experience. And one that knocked the ball out of the park!
I got the Pad Kee Mow, Green Curry, and Crab Rangoon. For the spice level options on both, I went the middle of the road at 5/10.
The Crab Rangoon did not have such an option, as it came with a sweet sauce (unexpected), but it was probably among the best I'd ever had. Really! Get the Crab Rangoon here, even if you don't think you like it! This stuff was gold.
The Pad Kee Mow at spice 5/10 was excellent. I'm not a spicy food daredevil, but I can handle some spice. This had my face watering, but it was a very comfortable heat. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this, and I'm sure the Pad Thai is just as good as a more conventional name.
The Green Curry at 5/10 spice was a tougher beast to tackle. While hot, it was defeating me handily. It was delicious, but I didn't end up finishing it until the next day, when I pulled it out of the fridge. It was still delicious, but it was still fighting me on the way down. Pretty hot, but still delicious.
All in all, I hope to order again soon, even though I'm trying to spread out my food options and try lots of different places. Still, this one left a very positive, lasting impression!
Went for lunch, only to be told the restaurant is currently operating take out only. We were very disappointed it did not state this on google.
It's been a while since I been here, so glad I decided to go back! The food was absolutely delicious! I got Shrimp Pad Thai, and it tasted so fresh! I also tried the Thai Chai tea, which was so good, too! I am so glad this business is still here! The service was great!
I moved to Pittsburgh in 2016 and started working downtown. I've ordered hundreds of times in the 7 years I've lived here, because it's the best Thai place I've had, for one particular reason: spice
I've eaten from so many Thai restaurants since I got here (that probably includes the one you're thinking of right now), and most places have a pretty mild "10", and even then the spice is just fine. At Siam Thai I usually hover around a 7 or an 8, and that's much hotter than most places top out at. But it's not just heat, it adds a depth to the flavor as well. I have no clue what they do differently, but it works big time.
They also tend to be very consistent, but I can tell when someone is filling in for the main cook. There was recently a 3 month span of subpar Siam Thai. Now keep in mind, Siam Thai off its game is still better than 90% of the Thai restaurants out there. But tonight they delivered one of the best meals I've had in a while. Everything was cooked so well, and the spice was HOT. Definitely a level or two higher than expected, but me and my wife were happy to enjoy the burn. Side note: Thai food is great if you're sensitive to gluten.
They're a small place of Smithfield downtown, and sometimes only a single person will be running it, and they're in the back cooking. They did indoor seating before the pandemic, but only pickup now. I'm also assuming they're family run, because sometimes they'll close for weeks/a month with a note left on the door.
TL;DR This is my favorite Thai in Pittsburgh, it's a small local business, and you should definitely eat here. And probably choose a spice level a little lower than you normally do.
Fast and fresh food. They have the best crab Rangoon and tom yum soup!
One of the best Thai spots in Pittsburgh. I’ve tried a lot of pad see ew and only this one has met my expectations.
Amazing Pad Thai. It has the light smoky flavor that you can only get when you know exactly what you’re doing with a wok and my friends, the chef knows exactly what he’s doing. Perfectly seasoned, traditional flavor and they get the spice level right. Oh and it’s only $12.50 with chicken. All of their appetizers are great as well. Fresh and homemade. I highly recommend that you try this place out especially if you’re looking for Thai food downtown. This place imho is better than the other options down here by far.
Great place for lunch. Fast service. Delicious food.
Best thai food in Pittsburgh
Amazing Thai food
This place is such a gem. Authentic & reasonably priced. Convenient walk if you’re on the Mon side of downtown.
My friends and me tried Pad Thai , but it doesn’t worth any price. It was too sweet instead of spicy. I’d. never try again. So upset
This place was amazing, but don't be stupid like me and think just because you love extra spicy food that you're going to be able to handle the 10 spice. You won't, and it will wreck you.
Excellent Thai food with great prices. Not shy with the spice!
Delicious food, maybe not the best Thai around, but had the best valued meals since other places feel quite overpriced. Good portion sizes and the crab Rangoon was amazing.
Love the food. Very friendly staff
The best crab fried rice in town ❤️
soooo good
Best green curry I've ever had...she asked 1-10 how spicy i wanted it, i ordered an 8, amazing, a 10 woulda killed me but it would have been worth it! So so so good! And the mango sticky rice is to die for.
Great food. Tried duck pad Thai with Thai hot. Nice flavor!
The crab fried rice is a must try, it’s the best I have ever had. Red curry is also great, but if you’re not a spicy lover, just get level 1 or 2 as advised by others…
This place is a hidden gem 💎. The food was amazing, the service was spectacular. A coworker and I stopped in for lunch and were done well before our lunch hour was up. Speedy service and top notch food! Will definitely recommend to friends and coworkers.
Excellent food. Hidden gem.
Best Thai around this place is a hidden gem if you don’t get to downtown often. I highly recommend. The pineapple chicken fried rice is amazing.
Delicious
Delicious, authentic food and wonderful service. I ordered the curry and let them know that I had dietary restrictions. They were very sweet and even added two little gluten-free cookies into my order for free. The curry was excellent. I will definitely be going back!
Excellent! We order quite often for lunch when we have meetings at our office as it's one of the rare places around which has been open in the area. We tried different dishes and everything was always good. Everyone in our office recommend this restaurant.
I have ordered take out from here once and I will be back. I got the red curry with chicken, which was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. I liked the option to get brown rice but you do have to buy it as a separate side. My boyfriend got the Pad thai and was also very pleased.
Working downtown and not eating meat on Friday's during lent, so I ordered the shrimp pad Thai from here. It had chicken in it. I picked it out, but the disappointing part was that the shrimp and rest of Pad Thai had no flavor. It was bland and poor quality. My first and last time trying this place. Epic fail!
Ordered pinnapple curry , told them spice 0 and I think they mistaken it for 10. My mouth was burning and my stomach was churning. I didn't even make a dent in it. I'm sure it would be good if they didn't dump half a bottle of hot sauce but I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.
Great food, great people, great prices, and excellent service.
WOWWW. Pumpkin curry was phenomenal. Serving size was excellent— I saved half for lunch the next day. Highly recommend! As someone who doesn’t like nose-running, eye-watering spicy food, I got spice level at zero and it still had a little kick.
Love their drunken noodles with chicken! I'm not sure if their spice levels are 1-10 or 1-5, but anything above a 3 is pretty intense so beware. Spice level 2 is a nice kick of heat but not overly spicy.
I work downtown and this has become my favorite payday lunch treat. The tom yum definitely lives up to its name and the pad see ew is very nice as well. Very quick service for pickup orders; I can't wait until dine-in is able to resume so I can experience the ambiance a bit more. Please give this place a try!
Great food in unassuming location
Hands down the absolute best Thai in Pittsburgh!!! My husband and I eat here almost weekly, it is that good. The Chicken Pad Thai is out of this world!!! The crab rangoon and Tom Yum soup are excellent as well! The owner is so kind and friendly. The service is excellent - we both work in town and will pick it up on our way home from work. It is ready in 10-15 minutes tops!
Excellent Thai food.
Ordered the pad see ew and angel rangoon. First dish was great but the rangoon was nothing but white onions and very disappointing. Would've given it a 4 star otherwise.
Nice place and the food is good. A bit overpriced though, but the food quality makes up for it.
Really wanted to love this place. First experience was absolutely terrible. Ordered delivery. Was nearly an hour late. No utinsils or napkins included. Driver dropped food outside, texted, and left. Fresh spring rolls were okay, not great. Curry might have been good, threw it away. Nothing to eat it with. Sticky rice was very poorly cooked. Zero stars.
Dam good food with really good prices for downtown Pittsburgh
Great food, very much home cooked authentic quality. 12:15-1:15 the busiest time, expect a bit of a wait, 10-15 min or so, but it'll be well worth it
Real good Thai. Tom Yum is excellent and Pad Keep Mau is very good.
Best Tom Kha I've ever had! Fantastic service. Guy was so friendly and kind. Will return when in Pittsburgh.
Great Thai food and very inexpensive
Probably the best Thai in town 👌
Stopped by for a quick lunch and they did not disappoint. Everyone loved their order and we were in and out within the hour!
Nice food, bit spicier then expected. Next time we will lower the spice level by 1 count.
This is the best place to get thai food. Delicious every time. Fast service. Reasonable prices, especially for the quality of food you get.
Amazing
Great authentic Thai cuisine, delicious and easy on the wallet.
Very good green curry, pad thai. Also tried the summer special which was also great.
Ordered curry to go. curry is so soggy and salty, there are not much content inside. Not recommended.
Great food! Learned something new about Thai culture while here. Strawberry Fanta is popular for shrines in Thailand. Fascinating!
Great Thai restaurant with standard menu done well with reasonable prices. Greatservice and good lunch specials.
one of my regular lunch stops.
Tomtom, green curry or drunken noodles
Really really good food, however if you rely on delivery in the afternoon because you work afternoons and cannot leave your job to get anything, you may have trouble as they do not seem to do delivery very often in the afternoons.
However if you can go pick it up, I assume they are open for takeout, you’ll be golden.
(4 stars because of afternoon delivery issues. Would be 5 otherwise).
The dumpling are frozen and re-heated, mine burned my mouth on the outside and had ice on the inside.
Beware of the spice, 3 is fairly hot and comes loaded with chili flakes. The service leaves much to be desired.
Great Thai food at a great price. Highly recommend the Pad Thai and Crab Angels!
Good food. Quick weekday lunch.
Yum!
Great location for quality thai food. Service is always excellent even when they have a full house. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The bill was decent for the quality.
Horrible service. Rude hosts. They don’t answer any questions and don’t help with order selection. I was asked to choose a spice level from 1 to 10. I asked what would a normal spice level and the lady kept saying tell me level of spice. I selected 6 and my wife 4.. both were VERY spicy. Not only was the food not flavorful, they simply add red chilly flakes which make the food just plain HOT!! I was so disappointed about the service and did not Tip. The server had the nerve to say that I should just do takeout next time...like Tips is a rule for dining in even for horrible service. These people have no clue of customer service. Plenty of better restaurants nearby. Will not recommend.
Best Thai in the burg
Small. Simple. Good.
Siams can't probably fit more than 30 people at once. Their menu is neither over done nor over priced. The service is prompt and good. You get a small portion of Tom Yum broth regardless of what you order. I had to order more Tom Yum because the first serving was delicious. I also had the garlic pepper and it was worth it. All 5 people in my party loved the food and looked forward to our next visit.
And if you're wondering: The food here is better than Nikki's.
Really enjoy this place. Small inside, with a small menu.
They are much faster than Nikki's Thai, so a better option for lunch. Price is also cheaper than Nikki's.
I had the duck noodle soup and the broth and noodles were amazing. However the duck was a little over cooked. Was still amazing and would recommend for a quick and cheap thai lunch.
Great soup and the dumplings were so good and not over boiled
Good taste!
Good Thai food in downtown
Food is sooooooo delicious. Try their eggplant with duck. It is worth walking from one end of downtown to another to try this restaurant. Also, it is not expensive.
Good local Thai. I had the Pad Thai and it was good.
Best Thai in the city
Friendly place with huge portions of food
Cheap, but not that spicy as I wanted. Next time I'd order "very spicy".
It's okay. The place is warm and small and the service is okay. I felt like I was annoying the servers when I asked for something. I might go there again, but Nikki's Thai is better...before I found out about the rat infestation at their Northside location. Out of all the Thai places in town, this place is second.
So, so good! Best Thai food I’ve had in a long time. The tofu is really flavorful, the service is fast, prices are reasonable.
Meats were tough. Sauce was acidic. Service was less than enthusiastic. I've never had Thai cuisine this uninspired. But they seem to have a following. Maybe just my experience.
Always busy at lunch but it's well worth the wait. Free soup. Great Thai food. It's aveeat place for a quick meal also, although you wouldn't think so at first sight. They work fast and we'll.
A great lunch spot downtown. The service is fast and the prices are affordable. I love the fried rice!
Fast, friendly service. Quiet and cozy atmosphere.
Best Thai in Pittsburgh!
Siam is always pretty busy at lunch time for a good reason. Excellent Thai food especially the green curry, basil chicken with rice, ginger chicken with rice and pad thai. Beware if you order spice level 7 out of 10 or higher it will make you cry.
Really good food, friendly service, affordable. Gets really busy at lunch, so you can’t be in a hurry if you go right at 12 or so, but they move fast for the crowd. If you want a seven on the spicy scale though make sure you specify a hard seven or you might get a four or five. Really good food and a nice menu, highly recommend the duck pad see ew. Now I have to get it tomorrow since I thought about it.
Decent thai - have tried a few of the lunch options and it hits the spot. On a wintry day I would suggest getting the duck soup. Get your meal less spicy and adjust the spice yourself.
Good fried rice
Love the Drunk Noodles.
Pick up lunch all the time. Food is good, service is friendly and fast, prices are affordable.
Great tasty spicy food. Loved it
No place to park, in a dim ally. Asked the hostess/ only person there where we should park, she didn't speak enough English to answer the question, and was rude. Went elsewhere
Fantastic little place with great food! One of my favorite spots to go to.
Good portions
