It’s a good thing I don’t live in Pittsburgh or I’d eat here 3x a week — it’s delicious and the service is fantastic. I’ll settle for stopping in every time I’m in town instead!

Diner Review №2

Enjoyed the restaurant very much! The food was delicious, the place nicely decorated and welcoming

Amazing portion sizes!

Food is amazing. Atmosphere is tranquil. Great place for everything...business meetings, date nights, dining alone.

Diner Review №5

Great Thai restaurant downtown. The service is great and fast which is important when grabbing lunch while at work. The atmosphere is nice, and within walking distance and central to downtown. Highly recommended.

Reliable American Thai food but they do go heavy with the sugar.

Diner Review №11

Went on a Saturday evening and had a wonderful meal. Spicy basil fried rice was excellent and the portions are very hearty. I will come back!

Diner Review №12

Quick to seat a party of two even with no reservation. The staff here is excellent, kind, warm and welcoming! The food had incredibly large portions and it was amazing! Would definitely reccomend here!

Diner Review №13

Food was great. Service was great. Only issue was that the food was not hot when it came

Diner Review №14

Was in Pittsburgh for several days over winter and looking for a warm hearty meal.

Stumbled upon Nicky Thai Kitchen while walking. They’re in a very centralised location.

The staff were super friendly and helpful.

Food was amazing, had the Tom Yum appetiser and the green curry chicken with rice. It doesn’t disappoint.

They’ve got nice cocktails 🍸 with a twist!

I would highly recommend the place.

It was packed when I got there and you know what they say if you see a packed restaurant, food’s gotta be of a certain standard!

Enjoy and I’ll definitely will be back if am in town! Thank you guys!

Best Thai food in Pittsburgh

Diner Review №17

Good food, service was ok…

Diner Review №18

Diner Review №19

Probably an unpopular opinion, but this was not my favorite thai place - for a few reasons.
It’s a very small space, with many tables crammed in. There’s not much space between the tables, which equals clunkier service due to the lack of space for servers and guests.
We started with the dumplings - which were so good that they were gone before I could get a photo.
I ordered the Khao Soi, which wasn’t bad but not my favorite rendition of the dish. They were unwilling to accommodate noodle substitutions, which was disappointing.
The spice levels were inconsistent among dishes, despite ordering the same level.
Not my favorite Thai spot in PGH, but I’m glad that we tried it.

Stumbled across this place while walking around town exploring! From the outside it doesn’t look like much but inside has a nice ambience and amazing food selections! Highly recommend the teriyaki chicken and spicy noodles!

Diner Review №23

While visiting Pittsburgh on a chilly and windy night, we were searching for a nearby spot to grab a bite. Based on the positive reviews here, we decided to give this place a try, and we’re so glad we did!

The food was absolutely fantastic, and everyone in our group loved it. Every dish we ordered was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The basil fried rice and pad Thai, in particular, were standout dishes—packed with authentic flavors. The portions were generous, and the presentation of the food was delightful.

Overall, this place exceeded our expectations, and we’ll definitely be coming back the next time we’re in Pittsburgh.

Diner Review №24

I don’t often leave reviews but we had the most amazing meal here. 5 star food as well as service and our amazing waiter even cut up an orange into a teddy bear for our son.

We can’t wait to come back

Diner Review №25

Great place for a large group. The service was fast and the food was amazing. The atmosphere was splendid.

Diner Review №26

First time there. Went for my daughters graduation celebration. The food is very good and the servers worked together and were very prompt and kind. Will return in the future.

Diner Review №27

As a vegetarian, I was very disappointed that all the curries - including the ones listed under the vegetable section - were made with shrimp sauce. The Thai Style Fried Rice was good though, especially with the smokey crushed pepper flakes they provided on the side. The place was also a little pricy.

Diner Review №28

A little pricey but portions are large
Food was yummy
Staff friendly and courteous
Place was clean & Thailand atmosphere with statues and decor on walls
Overall great food and experience.

Diner Review №30

We were passing through Pittsburg and at the recommendation of the front desk agent at our hotel we decided to dine in for dinner. It was almost right next door making the location perfect!
Ohhhhh my goodness!! I am not sure I’ll ever taste Thai food this wonderful again! It was incredible! I had the chicken pad Thai and my husband had the pra luck chicken. Both dishes were packed with flavor and seasoned to perfection!! This will likely be remembered as one of the best meals I’ve ever had!
The staff was very helpful, kind and welcoming! I will be back to Pittsburgh again solely just to eat here again! It was incredible!!

Diner Review №31

Excellent! Pumpkin curry was delicious and the entire place seems very well run. Love this atmosphere. Will come again.

Diner Review №32

The food is quite average, but the interior decor and plating are indeed beautiful (though, what’s the point? Food is meant to be eaten). The salad was bizarre, with an overly sweet dressing that wasn’t refreshing at all and felt cloying. The most important thing is the mandatory 20% tip, even if you find the service unsatisfactory. As far as I know, it’s typical to charge 20% for larger parties, like five or more people, but here it seems that even a party of one or two is subject to this mandatory tip. Overall, it’s a flashy but superficial place, and there are better Thai restaurants to choose from in Pittsburgh.

Diner Review №33

My wife and I tried Nicky’s for the first time during a recent stay in Pittsburgh. The service was friendly and prompt, even though the restaurant was fairly busy indoors and outdoors. Everything we had - papays salad as an appetizer, massaman curry, and spicy noodle — was very good and came in ample portions. We had room only for Thai iced tea in lieu of dessert.
They charge 20% service by default which was the biggest bummer.

Diner Review №37

This place is delicious, truly delicious. It's so cozy here; I will definitely come back.

Diner Review №38

Perfect location for those who are staying near conference center and fabulous food. Wanted to go back every night. Recommend pad Thai and anything at spicy level 3 if you like spice. If you love spice then definitely do 4 maybe 5.

Diner Review №40

Lovely place with great food and amazing staff

Diner Review №41

My nose found this place, I walked by it while running an errand, then headed back to treat myself to some Thai, my fave!! When I walked in, the bartender was making a drink with fruit & a blinking the light in it and I asked him what it’s called and he said it was sangria. Then he handed to me and said it’s yours! He knew I wanted it, that was very kind of him. Then I chose the Penang curry, which was excellent 5 stars! My son loves yellow curry, so I was going to order some for him to go, but I did not see it on the menu. The nice bartender said we can still make it for you. So I ordered the yellow curry to go for my son. One thing I didn’t like, I noticed they included an automatic 20% tip on the bill, which is what I normally tip, that’s not the problem. The problem was they made me tip 20% off the dish I took to go as well. I’ve never seen this before. But I didn’t say anything. When I gave my son the yellow curry he was not happy at all then I tried it and it was awful (zero stars!) The food at the restaurant was excellent. I wished I would’ve ordered the mango curry instead. The yellow curry did not taste authentic or like any other yellow curry I’ve ever tried before. Maybe that’s why it’s not on the menu. Then I was very disappointed They made me pay a tip on a dish I had to throw in the trash. It was horrible. I truly wanted to take it back to them so they could taste how bad it was. I’m still giving them for 4 stars because the experience I had in the restaurant was very good, but I do not recommend ordering off the menu, their yellow curry! We’re on a national tour, we always try yellow curry in every city, this was the first time it was inedible.

Diner Review №42

The Pad Thai was phenomenal. Huge portions filled with flavor.

Diner Review №43

Nasty 🤮 food and horrible service never again very racist

Diner Review №44

Enjoyed a great dinner at Nicky’s Thai Kitchen. Wait can get a little bit long on weekends but that’s just how it is at any place in the city during dinner time on the weekends. Overall great place with great food. I’ve never had food come to me faster. This was especially impressive to me because when I went when it was extremely busy.

Diner Review №45

Forced 20% gratuity with absolutely absurd meal prices for downright mediocre food. Sums it up.

Diner Review №46

Diner Review №47

Some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had.

Diner Review №48

The food was excellent! Hands down one of the best Pad Thai dishes I’ve ever had! Made with fresh vegetables, chicken, and a rich savory flavor. Whenever I travel, it’s tradition for me to order Pad Thai on the first day, and this one ranks among the very best. Solid 9.5/10!

Also, the Tom Kha soup is incredible! Was initially skeptical about shrimp in a coconut broth, but VERY glad I tried it! Highly recommend.

Diner Review №49

It's the best thai in the city.

Diner Review №50

Food is delicious. Unfortunately, their habit of not giving you what you ordered makes it impossible to enjoy!

I used to dine in, then when the pandemic hit, I started ordering food directly through their website for pick-up. I noticed my orders would often contain different ingredients than what was listed than when I selected it online. Pointing it out, or asking for a refund, or waiting for a new order ensued. Eventually, after several times of this happening at the downtown location, I discovered the reason was because their online menu was allegedly out-of-date - the items I was ordering no longer existed. Okay, so you would expect them to call and explain that, or just cancel and refund the order, right? Nope -- their standard practice was to just... give me a different meal than what I ordered. I.e. Ordered the Bangkok Bay, and that no longer exists, so they would just make and give me the Chili Mango Scallop with NO explanation.

Eventually, they seemed to update their menu, and I was able to order things they actually make and get what I ordered. Fast forward to today. I go to order from the North Side location... and see, "Oh, they have the Bangkok Bay on the menu! I haven't seen it there for years! I thought they didn't make it anymore... But, no, they wouldn't take it down and then put it back up if they didn't make it anymore, right...?" I decided to risk it and order the Bangkok Bay.

Big mistake. I show up to pick it up, look in the bag... and can see it's the Chili Mango Scallop! The fact that they do this at 2 locations - downtown and North Side - means this is standard practice: Just give the customer something they didn't order! How can anyone think that's a logical or good idea?! What if I was allergic to the cashews (they come on the Chili Mango Scallop but not the Bangkok Bay)?! I can't fathom how they came up with this plan! It's unfair, and it's absurd!

I should have demanded a refund, but I decided to just take it and eat it, since I like this one, too. Mistake #2. Instead of being topped with the cashews like it says online, it was topped with peanuts.

I'm done. For good this time. This is the most nonsensical restaurant I've EVER encountered.

Diner Review №51

Last night, due to popular demand, we decided to visit this place for our engagement anniversary. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The food lacked authentic flavor, and overall, it was a letdown. The only positive was that we found parking right outside the restaurant.

1. Vegetable 4 U: The spring rolls had an unpleasant, mashed filling that tasted like baby food. The samosa wasn’t a true samosa either—its filling was overly mushy. Typically, vegetables in a samosa should be distinct, not mashed like a puree. The tofu in the fresh spring roll was bland, with no flavor whatsoever.
2. Pad Thai: I was shocked by the taste. Authentic Pad Thai is known for its balanced sweet and sour flavor, but this dish was excessively sweet, as if overloaded with sugar or honey.
3. Pineapple Rice: The pineapple rice was average, nothing special.

My wife and I barely ate and ended up packing everything to take home. One nice touch was the teddy bear made by the bar staff for our baby.

Lastly, I was surprised to see the restaurant even charged for a takeaway bag, and the 20% pre-tax service charge felt unnecessary—I had never encountered anything like it before.

Diner Review №53

Delicious food and very generous portions. The way they add heat without overwhelming the flavor is particularly good.

Diner Review №54

Great Thai food in Pittsburgh. Friendly service, large menu, cocktails, beer, and wine available. Upscale atmosphere. Parking can be challenging.

Diner Review №55

We used to be big fans of this Nicky’s but haven’t been for dinner recently until this week. Grabbed dinner and drinks this week and was very unpleasantly surprised by how tightly packed the tables were. Our 2 top was one of 2 two tops in between the regular tables. We were so close to 2 other tables that the table behind us couldn’t get their jackets off their chairs without us assisting, and the other 2 top was no more than 2 inches away. It was really ridiculous. My food was ok, nothing remarkable. My drink was ok, pretty pricey. The service was fine but we couldn’t hear a word the server said because it was so incredibly loud in there (likely because of how many tables were packed in) that we couldn’t hear the server, or each other. The icing on the cake was that they added a 20% gratuity (on a table for 2, not a large party) and conveniently didn’t mention it. I’m always a 20%+ tipper and this dinner was no exception but I almost inadvertently tipped 45%. I was very disappointed with the experience.

Diner Review №56

Service is absolutely horrible. Very rude and dismissive, and no one understood the questions we were trying to ask. Food took forever to arrive, and while generous in portion size it was not terribly memorable. We were a table of two at the bar, and they offered separate checks and included a 20% gratuity charge without telling us. Absolutely absurd. Based on the other reviews I'm guessing they do this because they don't earn tips otherwise. There are better places to dine in this area.

Diner Review №57

Definitely an acquired taste. I have had authentic Thai and I'm not sure this was it.

The Pad Thai had a nice flavor of sweet and salty but it was lukewarm. The noodles quickly turned to mush.

Service was great.

Diner Review №58

Terribly slow service. Food times are astronomical. Come very eary

Diner Review №59

Diner Review №60

table of 6 pre-performance dinner server and Coco at the bar were very attentive and kept us on track for getting to the theater on time all along providing great service and delicious food; I always would suggest Nicky's when dining in town...

Diner Review №61

Despite telling the manager, server and waiter no action was taken to talk to the guest on another table to stop screaming and yelling. They just allowed those guys to disturb all other guests. Unacceptable staff response.

First time eating Thai Food. We were just walking by looking for a place to eat and the smell of the spices caught our attention so we decided to try it. Delicious food, the curry was phenomenal. They also have Thai Iced Tea, which happens to be my favorite flavor when I get boba locally so that was a plus.

Diner Review №76

I ordered to go dinner. I was told it would take 20-25 mins for food.
When I got there and I paid then I had to wait for another 20-25 mins before I got my food.
So after 50 mins after waiting and getting My red curry order was packed with no rice.
Red curry is so dilute and does not taste good. It does not even look like red curry
Would not recommend this place

Diner Review №77

Diner Review №78

Very good

Diner Review №79

I came here with high hopes. I’ve heard a lot about it. But I was admittedly disappointed by the food at the downtown location. It was okay - but it didn’t blow me out of the water. I would certainly try the other locations, but I think I was hoping for a little bit more based on how I often hear how great this place is! I will say the crab rangoons were excellent. Fried rice was okay. The spring rolls were a let down.

Diner Review №80

Cool little patio in front of the restaurant. Staff was very attentive and polite. Food portions were very generous and yummy. Really enjoyed the peanut sauce!

Diner Review №81

Diner Review №82

This place is awesome , the coconut mojito was one of the best mojitos I've ever had. I had the teriyaki chicken and it was phenomenal

Diner Review №83

If you don't mind being charged 20%+ service fee, it would be a nice place to dine.

Diner Review №84

You have to Love NTK! Great menu with lots of options, they have a full bar, service is great. The portions are also large, I doubt that anyone leaves here hungry. The only drawback may be that it can be a bit crowded with the way the tables are arranged but we enjoyed our meals and had a great evening.

Diner Review №85

Best Thai food in town

Diner Review №86

Top notch

Diner Review №87

over-priced items and mandatory 20% tip.

Diner Review №88

The food was good, and the service was good too. However, I felt a bit uncomfortable when I asked for a bag for leftover food and was told there's a $0.25 charge. Given the price of the food and the mandatory 20% service fee (Even for solo dinners), I expected complimentary bags. Overall, it was a okayish experience.

Diner Review №89

I went here for lunch with my colleagues. I enjoyed the Chicken satay and Egg Rolls. I had Pineapple rice, which would've been better if it were hot when I got it. I also noticed that I didn't have as much beef as everyone else 😭😵‍💫. To add insult to injury, we had to wait a long time for our food, despite arriving first. I want them to know that cold beef is NOT appetizing. I had a great time the first time but I'm hoping this is an anomaly.

Diner Review №90

Tried Nickys Thai for the first time and it lived up to the hype. Delish! The service was quick. The people were nice and the downtown location felt relaxing during a very late lunch service. Next time I shall share with someone as it's a lot of rice. It's a very tasty and affordable fried rice. 🥣 🥣 🥣

Diner Review №91

Still one of the best!

Diner Review №92

Delicious food. Excellent service.

Diner Review №93

Diner Review №94

Top shelf place to eat .
Quality as well having very healthy food options.
Cleanliness is far & few these days in the food industry.
This restaurant from my view point is very clean especially the bathrooms .
As far as service this is definitely next level !!
One in particular Nuchie is one of the nicest straight foward heartfelt human beings.
Me & my wife had the pleasure of meeting !
Nuchie is all about next level service.
Taking the Thai cultural cuisine experience to the next level.
One place that moved to my favorite places to enjoy quality cuisine.
Nuchie along with quality cuisine is the main reason !
Nicky’s Thai Kitchen will always be a first choice.

Diner Review №95

This place is amazing!! Nothing bad to say about anything! Food, service, atmosphere are all incredible!

Diner Review №96

A cockroach ran over my plate.

Diner Review №97

Great food!! This place is packed for a reason! You won't be disappointed. Drinks were good too.

Diner Review №98

Excellent food and service. Large portions

Diner Review №99

Pad Thai is an Americanized staple in Thai restaurants and while not my favorite, it offers a data point for easy comparison across Thai restaurants. The Pad Thai here was just okay - not very tasty.

Diner Review №100

Diner Review №101

Diner Review №102

3 dishes and all had flaws. Only good part was the salad.

Diner Review №103

It's Americanized Thai food, blandized, not spicy. Decent flavors and good service and a busy place - good for the office crowd I suppose. Not as a go to Thai food spot.

Diner Review №104

So obviously we ordered 2 fish dishes, and it was 80% vegetables 20% fish. I just don't understand. i ordered fish to eat, not vegetables

Diner Review №105

Better for dine in take out jot as good and watch one of the servers loves to add a group tip on with out letting you know

Diner Review №106

Diner Review №107

Ordered pick-up which went seamlessly. Their Pad See Ew was delicious but possibly overpriced. Love the atmosphere of the outdoor seating area as well.

Previously left a 4*, updated to 5! Due to proximity I've been here several more times ordering a different dish each time. Not sure if their portion sizes went up or if I was just unlucky my first time, but there's much more food to where I would consider it definitely worth the price.

Diner Review №108

J ai pris le poulet aigre doux, vraiment très bon. Niveau piquant 2 sur 5 était parfait pour moi (déjà bien piquant).
Salle assez bruyante.

Diner Review №109

My daughter and I just stopped late for a drink and dessert at the bar…Nicky, s kitchen a few years ago was this last hob with good food and fair price. It became hipster style , minimum cocktail is $16 , beer was $9 . We ended up paying $24 for 1 beer and 1 sticky rice…and they had the guts to include 20 % gratuity on the bill without mentioning anything to me. This place became too aggressive $$$ but sticky rice was very good . Getting tired of Pgh crazy pricing I won t come back

Diner Review №110

I don't appreciate being charged a 20 percent automatic tip for a table for two. I won't be back.

Diner Review №111

Diner Review №112

Get the crab rangoon if you wanna be happy :)

Big shout/out to our server who was super nice

Diner Review №113

Food was 5 star worthy. The only reason I rate it with 4 stars is because I order Thai hot but my meal was mild at best.

The service was slow but not unexpected for a busy Friday night.

Atmosphere was great. Had the feeling of being in another country.

If you’re in Pittsburg I would highly recommend this place.

Diner Review №114

While the food was okey, I was surprised to see the 18% service charge already added to the bill for party of just 3, on top of it they asked 25 cents for the a bag to carry leftovers. A weird and bad experience.

Diner Review №115

Diner Review №116

Diner Review №117

Diner Review №118

Diner Review №119

They take forever just eat somewhere else on the weekends

Diner Review №120

Had the mango salad, which is a must get for me whenever eating Thai, and the spicy noodle dish. One star off for the chicken being a bit tough. Other than that all the flavors and textures were on point.

Diner Review №121

Good service, very nice atmosphere. Food was good.

Diner Review №122

Great American Thai food. Food is a little pricy but worth it. The outside seats are pretty loud. But overall good.

Diner Review №123

Go to noodlehead instead!

Not only was the pad thai way too sweet, there was a 20% mandatory service charge for all patrons, AND no AC, sweating like mad the entire time

I found the 20% mandatory surcharge to be especially insulting to patrons and staff, pay your workers better!

Smaller stuff, but still annoying for a $20 dish:
- Pad Thai wasn't mixed well, peanuts on one side of the dish, makes a mess on the dish to mix in
- Lemon are sliced in a way that's impossible to squeeze well over the dish, another mess

Diner Review №124

Absolutely fantastic. From easiness of reservation to quick seating upon arrival.
Great ambiance of the whole place. Quick professional service.
All our dishes were excellent. Their spice flavor at #4 is great.
Appetizers were flawless.

Diner Review №125

1. Only good dish is the basil fried rice.
2. My friend asked for basil on his regular Thai fried rice and we were told it would be an additional $3.
3. We asked for a bag to carry left overs- $0.25 for a bag.
4. But our biggest issue was the lack of air conditioning. We were sweating before we even got our food and just wanted to leave because of how hot/humid it was.
5. Lastly a service charge automatically added to all diners.

Diner Review №126

Diner Review №127

Excellent authentic Thai food with great service. The portions were generous and the ambiance was beautiful.

I had the Pad Thai with chicken. Whenever I go to a Thai restaurant for the first time I always do that to have the base line. I ordered “3” spicy and it could have been hotter. So don’t be afraid of 3 if you want SOME heat.

The only thing that grinds my gears about this place is the mandatory 20% service charge. This couldn’t be further from a real Thai experience in Thailand. That’s okay because I know we are in the US, but let me decide how much to give. These “fees” are getting out of hand.

Diner Review №128

Great food and great service! Portions are also large. Would definitely recommend.

Diner Review №129

Diner Review №130

The best Thai food we've ever had.

Diner Review №131

I recently dined at Nicky’s Thai kitchen and found the food to be decent overall. However, I opted for spice level 3, but it felt more like a 10—it was overwhelmingly spicy. Additionally, I was a bit annoyed by the mandatory 20% service charge, especially considering the service wasn’t up to par.

Diner Review №132

Best Thai ever

Diner Review №133

You're paying for the atmosphere. The food was big and quantity but not very flavorful. I will not be returning. 75$ for 2 people .. not good

Diner Review №134

Nice local place. We tried the spicy chili garlic tilapia on spice level 4 and it was tasty but not too spicy. It came with a flavorful house salad. Like others mentioned, they add a 20% service fee to the check.

Diner Review №135

We popped over to grab lunch before heading back home from a terrific weekend. As always parking was tough, but I settled on a small lot for 12$. Oh well.
First of all, the restaurant was slammed. Not a seat to be found. The staff was super polite amid the chaos. As soon as I saw the plates coming out, I said, "We're eating here!". Everything looked so good. 30 mins turned into only 20, and we had great service despite the packed house.
What can I say, the food was top notch. It was fresh, super tasteful, and not too pricey. All three of us got different dishes and enjoyed them immensely. I had the chicken rice soup, which was really good. Lots of good black pepper made for a delicious homemade chicken broth, and it was packed with chicken and rice. I literally enjoyed every spoonful. For entree, I had Spicy Thai Basil, with Grilled Eggplant and Shrimp. (Plus other veggies) Heat level #4 (out of #5) It was amazing, a generous portion, and I took home half for dinner, upon my return to Western New York. I highly recommend this restaurant. It was a perfect experience, despite the wait. I can't wait to go back again. You should try it!

Diner Review №136

I ordered a thai basil stir fry with chicken for take out last night and after I got back to the hotel found out they made vegetarian stir fry with tofu. It tasted bland and watery, just bad. Expensive but bad, never go back again.

Diner Review №137

Horrible service and long waiting time. Will never visit again.

Diner Review №138

Diner Review №139

Diner Review №140

We ate at the Penn Ave location on June 7 and while the drinks were good my husband and I were both disappointed with the toughness of our meat in our meals and frankly shocked by the 20% service fee that they added to the bill. This was not a tip it was a service fee and it was not disclosed on the menu or on the door. The food was already very pricey with $25 plus entrees but the 20% on top was uncalled for and just bad business.

Diner Review №141

Diner Review №142

Pretty busy thai place with nice ambience! I like the different statues they have in the interior! Food is pretty decent, I have tried their mango curry and pineapple fried rice!

Diner Review №143

Nicky’s Thai Kitchen in Pittsburgh is my go-to spot for amazing Thai food. The cozy, welcoming vibe is perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. As a regular, I can’t get enough of the chicken pad thai and crab rangoons – they’re always full of flavor and super satisfying. Plus, the portions are much bigger if you dine in, so I always make sure to enjoy my meals there. The menu has a lot of variety, and everything I’ve tried has been fantastic. The friendly and efficient service adds to the great experience. If you’re in the mood for top-notch Thai cuisine, Nicky’s Thai Kitchen is a must-visit.

Diner Review №144

First time at the downtown location. I've had decent experiences at North Hills location. Was downtown to meet some friends and dropped in for lunch. Atmosphere is great and plenty of seating. Outdoor seating available as well. Took a little while to get seated. Then once seated took even longer to get served, and get the food. Wouldn't recommend in a rush. Food was great Portions are a too big for lunch, we all had to take boxes home. Hard to complain. About too much food but could cut in half and charge $12 vs $18 a dish. Got the Spicy Noodles 3spice level and they were fantastic. Friend got the Pad Thai and said was awesome. Sping Rolls were fresh and tasty.

Now we caught it on our bill but they do charge 20% service fee! Automatically. Our bill came to over $80 for 3 people at lunch.

Food is awesome. Portion sizes are really good. Nice outdoor seating. I just wish they got the food a bit sooner.

Diner Review №147

Pretty tasty and excellent service. I was told I couldn’t really adjust the spice level on my dish but that they would try. This is the first time I’ve been told this at a Thai restaurant. The fresh spring rolls were tough to eat… the rice wrap was almost inedible because it was so dry and chewy. We would visit again.

What a nice surprise! Stopped on Saturday evening instead of eating at booths at Arts Festival. What a good move on our part! We had the dumplings for an appetizer, then my husband had the chicken teriyaki and I had the mango salad with grilled chicken. All delicious! Waitress was attentive, too. Dined outside to watch the crowd. Priceless. Only negative was the girl seating people. This awful attitude is the reason for only three stars on service. Having a bad day maybe?! She was grumpy and not accommodating. Almost left because of her. As the first interaction with customers, she is a grumpy, miserable disaster in need of new attitude. But if you put up with her long enough to be seated, the rest of the experience is a pleasurable one.

Food is amazing. Service is great. I see a lot of complaints about the automatic 20% added to the bill as a tip. I say good on the owner. If he had added 20% to the menu prices we would still go, I'm happier its going to his employees.

Greatest Thai food in Downtown Pittsburgh. Service has improved from great to outstanding.

Diner Review №151

This place has it all. The general interior design and decor is fantastic. The food is literally perfect and the wait staff is honestly incredible. The bartender, Tommy, goes so far above and beyond to make sure everything is beyond perfect. I can not wait to go back.

Diner Review №152

It's located at very prime location and we insisted to sit outside patio which was a nice experience.
I must say food is average, but you can definitely visit to experience the ambience atleadt once.

Are my first meal in Pittsburgh here.

Highly recommend 👌.

Diner Review №156

Not recommended. I have gone several times and the service was never great. On the most recent visit, the waitress was extremely inattentive and never checked in on us. The food was also not good. We normally tip 25 to 30 percent, but probably would have tipped 5%. Unfortunately, there is a mandated 20% service fee. I think the food is overpriced, service is bad, and the food is not good. Recommend Thai Table and Kitchen instead.

Excellent food, excellent service. A bit cramped, but still a fantastic experience.

Diner Review №162

Good quality food with large portions but not quite authentic Thai. (For example, they use the USA pseudo siracha to flavor their salads like Tom woon sen.) Définetely not correct in terms of Thai style.

Worth a try if you're looking for something healthy and/or Americanized Thai food.

look up their health inspection records. “live german roaches behind dish washer” no thanks.

Diner Review №168

First off I will say the decor of the place is pretty nice. It can get quite crowded however, and for us it felt we were stuffed in there with other tables right up against around backs.

The food was overall meh. The best dish we had was the spicy basil fried rice, which was actually pretty flavorful and tasty. Everything else was forgettable though. The green curry tasted very middle of the road, and some of the veggies looked like the frozen variety. Things lacked in spice level as well (despite us ordering level 3). The worst dish was the Choo Chee Tofu. We decided to try one of the vegetarian dishes and regretted that decision. It was almost tasteless despite being covered in red curry, would not order again. Similar story with the Thai Toasts. Overall was left disappointed with the food.

Diner Review №169

Ordered take out. Green curry and specified gluten-free. It was read back to me as gluten-free. Opened up the box and found a crab rangoon on top of the rice. Be careful.

Diner Review №170

Ordered Tofu massaman curry here which comes with a salad or soup. I got the salad which had mango and lots of interesting veggies in it. Dressing was really tasty.
The massaman curry had no carrots in it, and the pieces of tofu were too big. They should have cut them at least in half to make them more manageable. I had no knife to cut they with anyway. I wouldn't order it again.

Diner Review №171

Buyer Beware
Had lunch there yesterday. The food was very good etc. however the problem is their deceptive business practices. There were only two of us yet they included a 20% service charge on our bill without saying anything. Since we were unaware, we tipped an additional 20%. We realized this after leaving the restaurant. We will not be back to support a business trying to take advantage of their customers.

Diner Review №172

1. It should be a lime, not a lemon. Also, why was there only one wide noodle?
2. The take out box designs aren’t the same 😖
3. Unrealistic female beauty standards. Insurance did not cover the expensive knee surgery to get concave legs like the Nicky’s Thai statue lady so now I am in debt and am MARGINALLY more beautiful (I won’t feel complete until I go through the tailbone elongation procedure)
4. Waitstaff was nice

At first we asked if we could sit outside, they said yes. We took a table, in a while 6 people came and manager asked us to switch the tables as there are 6 places at ours, and we were only 3 people. We switched the tables no worries. Made an order , took a while to do it for some reason, nobody came to us for 10-15 minutes. And after we had got our order we were dissatisfied with it. It’s a highly unpleasant service, fake Tom yam soup with imitation of crab and without coconut milk. I’ve been to Thailand 5+ times, had dinners in the authentic non touristic places and that is why when I saw their soup I was shocked. I asked to change the soup, but they said they can’t because I ate too much. After all manager said that we are not welcome there anymore and they are not happy that we came, and all people from our country is not good and we wanted to have a food for free. But we paid our bill!!! I just didn’t want to pay gratuity because I was frustrated! And a racist comments about my people was the fatality of the customer service! It’s not an authentic restaurant at all. I love Thailand and have Thai friends , they are a very friendly and generous people. This manager should change her job to become happier with her life. I just wanted to have a gastronomical pleasure but got a frustrating experience ☹️

This is my favorite place to go for Thai food.

Diner Review №176

The food here is always great! It's a little pricey though. Watch out on the spicy side. It can get very hot very quickly!

Diner Review №177

Best Thai restaurant in Pittsburgh! My colleagues and I had an excellent dinner in downtown Pittsburgh on a Monday evening. Although not listed on the menu, I requested LAAB, with ground pork! It was delicious! Highly recommend!

Diner Review №178

Super overpriced for Thai food and low quality. The meat was overcooked in both dishes, the spring rolls were dry, and it just felt like every dish was thrown together haphazardly. Constant loud cars driving by so the outdoor seating was a terrible atmosphere. You can get far better for far cheaper in Pittsburgh.

Went for the first time tonight. Staff was so nice and hospitable. The food was also unreal! Would definitely recommend to a friend.

First off this place is SMALL. If you like sitting arm to arm next to strangers (tables and chairs inches apart) then this is your place. I don’t recommend bringing babies in here… they don’t seem baby friendly to me as our waiter sat us at a table with me on one end and her on the other which just isn’t normal. She’s a small baby I needed to sit by her. They ended up moving us to a bigger table after I told them this would not work because we were jam packed next to people. Our waitress was NOT friendly at all. The Thai tea sucked so bad was really watered down and tasted like nothing. The spring rolls were double wrapped with rice paper and could tell we’re not fresh because the wrap was thick and gummy. I had to wash it down with the Thai tea while chewing to prevent from choking. I’ll add I’ve had spring rolls at many places before & these were the worst. My dish was Basil chicken with a spice level of 4 & it was really good… the rice was very sticky and not fluffy but I thought maybe that’s how Thai rice is?? I ordered some chicken teriyaki to go & it was just ok.. they don’t really cut there chicken up they just give you slabs of it. I ended up taking my dine in food to go because it was really loud in there & I just wanted to pay and leave. The waitress told me that I didn’t have to worry about leaving a tip because they do the 20% tip. Which I waited for her to bring me a to go box and ended up having to ask someone else because she just never came back. I wouldn’t have gave her $12 bucks that’s for damn sure. I had high hopes for this place but it just didn’t turn out.

Nicky's Thai is great Thai food. Dancing Crab Thai has better food, but Nicky's is my second choice. And this Nicky's location in the cultural district has great vibes. Outdoor seating is nice in the summer.

** this restaurant has a 20% service fee** (not gratuity)

Stopped at Nicky’s Thai kitchen for dinner my first night in Pittsburgh. Inside is hot and humid so I think that would definitely impact my enjoyment however it was a beautiful night so we were able to eat outdoors.

The food was very good, smaller portions. We got the steamed dumplings which I was pleasantly surprised had more meat than average for a dumpling. We also split the panang curry. We got it level 4 spicy but it seems they have a “Thai spicy” level that we were not aware of because 4/5 was not that spicy.

I mentioned the service fee at the top because it is one of the growing trends that I can’t stand when going out to eat. 20% and then asking for a 20% tip on that extra charge really makes the bill significant. Although I enjoyed dining here it will make me reconsider recommending it or returning.

Great (large portions!) meal here with papaya salad and salmon. Sat at the bar and tried sake with the meal, too!

Definitely recommend when in town for work or visiting friends, etc…

Love NTK. Today, however, all 4 of our dishes, which we’ve enjoyed several times before, were utterly gross. The tofu in the summer rolls tasted like it soaked in dish water, one order of phad see eaw noodles with beef were too sauced and the beef tasted old, the second order of pad see eawe with tofu had very little sauce and the tofu was cold and also tasted like dish water, finally, the beef noodle soup was doused with five spice seasoning and way too salty. The sauce and remaining summer roll ingredients were the only things on-par.
