I ordered a Lan Zhou Ramen with beef sirloin. It looked okay. However, all pieces of beef were pretty hard to chew on. They were not freshly made. I was the only customer in the restaurant and the bill was given to me while I was still eating. I have tried several Asian restaurants in Pittsburgh and this restaurant was at the bottom of my list. Not only I was disappointed with the beef noodles, I was a little bit “mad” while dining in this restaurant.
This great Chinese restaurant served several classic Chinese dishes like dumplings, bbq kebabs, and cold noodles. I like their dumplings. Fried dumplings tasted better than steamed ones. Cold noodle was not authentic, because they used ice cubes to make the broth cold. I liked their squid fried noodles the most, which tasted flavorful without too much oil. The service was friendly and fast. The place was decorated lovely.
NEXT MORNING EDIT: i have food poisoning this morning. 🥲
im not even kidding, this might have been one of the worst meals i have ever had. i wouldn’t even give it one star. i hate leaving bad reviews, but the food was terrible. the chicken fried rice tasted like it was microwaved and had to drown it in soy sauce to get any sort of flavor. the chicken didn’t even taste like chicken, and the boba had no taste whatsoever. don’t even get me started on the Curry…. no flavor and was basically soup. don’t think i will be back here sadly.
I think the rating is too low for this place! I actually quite enjoyed some of the food I had from here. The menu is super broad and has a ton of variety. I tried the pork buns and pad Thai.
Seeing the name, you may think their specialty is noodles. I don't think so! They should really be renamed to Mad Bao or something because their pro buns and dumplings are what actually stood out.
The bun was so fluffy and had the perfect amount of casing to meat. The meat was well cooked, tender, seasoned well, and just all around delicious. Perfect crisp on the outside. And, a pretty nice savory sauce too, but that wasn't anything crazy. I would really recommend trying one of their dumplings.
The pad Thai was not as good. It was a big portion, yes, but quality wasn't the best, and it was a tad expensive. It had a strange sugary sauce, almost like sweet n sour noodles. I just wasn't the biggest fan of this pad Thai.
All in all, I quite enjoyed this spot. If you come here, you definitely need to try the buns or dumplings!
The place looks clean and cute. I did not dine in. I ordered a dinner takeout, and as soon as I walked in, it was a vibe!!. I ordered the Japanese Pork Ramen and General TSO's Chicken both for ~$15. The Ramen portion was a surprise!! It was definitely worth the money. The takeout présentation was also 💯. Overall, I will be going back in person next time and definitely will be ordering takeout again.
Booths were cheaply made so every time someone moved you’d feel it directly on your back , but main complaint is don’t order the pho it’s not good no matter how much I tried to save it … I will say it was a big portion but I maybe took two bites and paid the bill and left they didn’t offer an exchange
I’ve been meaning to get over here for a while and I regret not trying this place sooner! First, they have soup dumplings, which you can find everywhere. There a couple places in Pittsburgh, but they’re still rare. They were super good with nice warm broth and a savory meat ball inside. Just an amazing bite. It’s a high recommend for me. I also got the pad Thai which was massive. I got Spice level 3 and that was enough to make my nose run a little, which was perfect. The atmosphere was good with almost a cafe vibe music going on and everything relatively calm. My friends really liked their meals as well so try and make this a stop. The parking outside was free after 6 and I got a space 4 steps from the door. You won’t be disappointed!
Food is so bad, I'm super sad about how bad this food is 😭
We got $100 of take out, the person was kind who handed it to me. When we got home every container we opened looked mostly like it should, but everything tasted the same. It was like the cook didn't use any spices. The red curry tasted like the green curry for example. We resolved to not go back. Then at 3 am I had a terrible stomach attack. Not sure what happened here, maybe it was a fluke?
If you want sharp tasting super flavorful food, try Tai spoon in Dormont. I'm not sure why we didn't just order there this time...
They purposely ignored two items on my order. I ordered three items. They only sent me one. This is bull
PLEASE READ: AVOID this place at all costs. Expensive for quality of food (garbage), bad service, and HORRIBLE food.
I usually don’t leave this type of review but I was so dissatisfied with this food I want to help others avoid this terrible place. This place was TERRIBLE. I ordered a large takeout order for my family for Christmas. Ordered pad Thai (soooo salty and terrible), crab rangoons (freezer aisle crab rangoons at a grocery store would be better), steamed dumplings (tasted like dirty water and nothing else), among other things. PLEASE AVOID!
You would get better food at a run down Chinese buffet, I promise you.
Booths were cheaply made so every time someone moved you’d feel it directly on your back , but main complaint is don’t order the pho it’s not good no matter how much I tried to save it … I will say it was a big portion but I maybe took two bites and paid the bill and left they didn’t offer an exchange
We got ramen & it was pretty good. The broth was phenomenal but the egg was like just a whole plain hard boiled egg in the bowl.
Went in for quick lunch. Vietnamese fresh spring rolls were delicious.
Don't bother. For every 5 stars, I see one and two stars alongside, but I tried it anyway. Flat tasting, "hole in the wallish" kind of joint. Service is as you'd expect, ok 4/10. Where's the friendly service and hot fresh food? Where?! Actually, forget the food, just give a friendly greeting and be courteous/pleasant, I'll see the tables and floors, and the fact that there's no customers in there, and leave happier than I would be if I stayed and ate. :)
I have never written a review before but this place is so good that I felt like saying something. I eat from here all the time, and no matter what I order (always vegetarian), it's so tasty. EXCELLENT tofu. Great spice too. I like the Thai food the best :) Thank you Mad Noodles!
The pad thai was so good...
Really bad food, no effort, not worth the money
The menu was perfect; everyone ordered four different items and loved them!
Terrible food. Japchae extremely overcooked to mush - not even authentic Korean noodles. Everything is greasy and over spiced sooo hot! Not worth the price! Stay away...
If you've ever had real Korean or Chinese, or just Asian food in general, you'll quickly find out that this place really sucks. I think they use pre-made stuff because it's horrible and does not taste homemade at all. Dare I say it tastes old. 🤢. I'll probably never come back here again.
Crunchy rice

I needed help from one of the employees and he was pretty rude and dismissive, overall unwilling to help. I was really excited to try this place but I probably won’t be going back. The food was fine I would just love to not have to interact with the worker again
NEXT MORNING EDIT: i have food poisoning this morning. 🥲

Ordered takeout, Ramen, Sesame chicken, crab rangoons and brown sugar milk boba. The chicken and crab rangoons were so dry and tough they were hardly edible. I gave up on the chicken after two pieces, they both seemed to have been reheated more than once before I even received them. The boba was good though.
Excellent energy and food never any complaints
This place is sooooo good. When I have the extra money I love to order takeout from here. The seafood fried rice is my favourite!
Best Asian restaurant in town!
Absolutely amazing food and service.
$16 Terrible experience. I love pho but not theirs. Had no flavor. Couldn't finish it and certainly didn't want to take it home either. Chickens dry. They give unripe limes the list go's on but I'll stop there. Not worth the bang for your buck
Service was fine, food was just a little off
I think the rating is too low for this place! I actually quite enjoyed some of the food I had from here. The menu is super broad and has a ton of variety. I tried the pork buns and pad Thai.

Super disappointed. Soup dumplings had no soup, it was just little pieces of pork. Singapore noodles are not Singapore noodles at all. And the general tsos was really chewy.
Phenomenal Asian food with very high quality ingredients at a fair price for the quantity you get.
Pretty good place. Their brown sugar boba is delicious and they are one of the only places in Pittsburgh that I've been able to actually taste the orange flavor in their orange chicken. I've never sat inside, usually just pick up and run but food has always been great for the price
Back again after a long time. Fresh rolls qere just bags of lettuce with gray chicken.
Pad thai seemed to be full of sriracha. Spicy and not pad thai at all. I guess I've learned my lesson.
Food was generally Tasty. But chicken basil I ordered at a 1 in spice level, and my food came with at least two whole jalapenos chopped up inside! Pics for for proof. Yikes. Pork buns also very bready and rice was an overcooked glob. I won't be coming back.
The food was okay. The prices were good. The service was good. Just so many people hyped this place up that I was expecting a lot more than what I got. We ordered a variety of food so that we could try different things. Once again the food was good. Just not as great as everyone hyped it up to be.
Fantastic service for togo. They made the food quick, and were super friendly! Everything tastes wonderful.
I broke my tooth trying to bite through the chicken.
Very disappointing experience with takeout here last night. The amazing chicken was far from amazing…in fact we threw it away because it was inedible. The chicken pieces were so overcooked you couldn’t even cut them with a knife. Also got fresh rolls which were a soggy mess of mostly iceberg lettuce in a shredded wrapper. With average entree prices averaging $17 we won’t be back.
Deliciously inconsistent. I want to love this restaurant, but the food is incredibly hit or miss. The spice levels seem to be completely random, and rice dishes will either be some of the tastiest food I've had, or a bland dish with little to no meat and flavor. Feels like they have 1 good chef and 1 bad chef, but when you get that good chef it's to die for.
Disgusting! The food and the service were the worst!
Very good store recommended to everyone
Not sure if dine-in is available or if it's reservation only, but I got served pretty quick, the beef and garlic with steamed rice is pretty good if you're looking for tried and true.
Shirmp was overcooked an food was not good an I got charged for my whole order an only got half of dew they where out.
Food was great, and filling. I rarely leave a place with leftovers but there wS so much I couldn't clear my plate.
Very quiet and service is very quick for only having one worker upfront food was delicious
The green curry was just plain bad. There were thick, clear, gelatinous pieces all throughout it. Very gross. This was the first time in my life that I called a restaurant to ask for a refund, it was that bad. They asked me to come back and return the food, I didn't feel like that was worth the effort, however. My tea was ok though.
First time customer. I ordered take out. Fried dumplings and flat noodle Thai style w chicken. Both were absolutely horrible. The dumplings were extremely overcooked. I could not eat them. The noodles were a pile of mush. If I had dined there I would have sent everything back. Do not waste your time or money.
Mad Noodles is one of my favorite Asian food spots in South side, possibly the city. They have a super diverse menu and just about everything I have tried has been a huge hit. The Mongolian beef, lo mein, black pepper dishes, there's one item called "beef potato tomato" and it is seriously incredible. Their crab rangoons are amazing and every dumpling I've tried has been 10/10, steamed or fried (I highly recommend the kimchi beef!!) I love to bring visiting friends and family here and everyone loves this place. I always order takeout and it's ready in 10-20 minutes.
The food is excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Oof 😣 just ordered a bunch of different things from here, when I say the food was bland my fiance thought he'd come down with COVID. Just a big oof. Literally nothing had more than the basicist blandest flavoring. And insanely small portions for the price
I've ordered from here through Grub Hub a number of times - it is totally inconsistenmt. One time the food is delicious, and the next time, the same order is not great at all. My main go to's are summer rolls and singapore noodles. When good, I' m all for them, and then I get a disappointing mess the next time. Will not be ordering again.
很好吃!特别愉快的用餐体验.
So poor, not worth reviewing.
Place looks beautiful.
My take out order, broccoli chicken with brown rice, was awful.
We got the soup dumplings, pork bao, generals tso chicken, fried rice and bubble tea. It was insanely good. The restaurant was dead inside but lots of to go orders going out. I’d probably order takeout next time but the food was sooo good. Definitely getting the bao and general tso again!
The food was delicious. Everything was nice and hot!!. The only thing that was bad is that, the chicken and shrimp fried rice barely had any chicken and shrimp in it. For the money we had paid. It should have been a decent amount in the food.
Food wasn’t good. Got the Japanese ramen with beef. Very little meat, half of which was fat and there was a big chunk gristle. Duck sliders were okay, but again very little meat and nothing else in the bun. Bubble tea was also just okay. Overpriced for the quality of food.
I would probably only ever go for bubble tea. The brown sugar bubble tea is delicious but the server we had seemed kinda rude and was too quiet we couldn't hear her. There's no music playing and we went for an early lunch and were the only table there. The atmosphere was just not a good vibe
Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with this place. The Japanese Ramen soup, not much meat in it, mostly fat, the broth was at least good anyway. The waitress forgot my hot tea, and since she never came to check on us I had to go find someone to get it. For the little amount of food and such high prices, I won't be going back.
Always good food and service, portion sizes just a bit small for the price in my opinion.
Stopped in here for lunch today with my fiance, and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was! We were greeted by the bartender immediately, and she couldn't have been a nicer person. We had a nice conversation with her from the beginning of our meal to the end, and she was very helpful.
We decided to split the Pork Soup Dumplings (order of 8) as an appetizer. I haven't found a place other than Everyday Noodles in Pittsburgh that really knocks these out of the park, but Mad Noodles were the best I've had in the city!
We then split an order of the Singapore Noodles (Spice level 2 of 5) which came with shrimp, tofu, beef and chicken! It was really nice to have the variety of meats included. The bartender was proactive and brought us over 3 different dipping sauces (A teriyaki type sauce, duck sauce, and chipotle mayo). I'm defintiely excited to go back and try the Japanese Ramen, flat rice noodles, and pineapple fried rice!
Very good, authentic Chinese flavor, steamed buns and dumplings are delicious
Dine in. Wasn't sure what to expect after setting down. The best crab Rangoon I've eaten, dumplings were fried a little long but were packed with chicken/pork and oh so tasty. The Singapore rice noodle with 3 proteins was killer good. The sesame chicken was... Well it's sesame chicken just about everywhere but the chicken is delicious and large portions. Next time I'm taking to go. Very very good.
First I ordered Thai tea, and it was sour-tasting. I mention it to the waiter and he tells me that's how it is supposed to taste. I then order the fresh spring rolls, which were 3 shrimp with about a salad size amount of lettuce. The Pho tasted like water, and had barely anything in it and the side condiments were rotten and almost nonexistent. I will not be going back.
Great food & service but no music, no tvs on and very quiet.
If you enjoy noodle dishes the you should put this place on your list of restaurants to visit!
Worst place a little advice stick to a country that you are good at do not explore !!
You are chineses stick to chinese food worst pho i had ever had in my life !
Do not waste your money or appetite. This was so cheap, flavorless, well some flavor but no good flavor that's for sure. My spring roll was even skimpy on lettuce which was pretty much all that was in it. They cut a single nickel sized shrimp in half for the rolls! The soup tasted like watered down dish water, with raw green peppers and very little meat in it as well. They brought half filled sink water to the table with no ice and it tasted like sulfur. Not even hot sauce or anything to add to the soups, come on when have you ever had Asian food without salt or umami?! I would never come back.
One of my favorites!!!! Calamari is the best.
Killer Pad Thai
This place was a slight letdown in the fact that most of the food ordered was kinda bland and boring. Even orange chicken sauce wasn’t as flavorful as it is most other places. It’s still a nice place but just expensive for very average food.
The dumplings and steamed buns wew amazing.
The flat noodles were all stuck together like one large noodle. Over cooked noodles and 15 dollars. It was not good. Dumplings were fried like they were egg rolls. Sigh. I had night hopes.
Never had a bad experience here. Sushi, noodles, buns, dumplings are all amazing. The flat rice noodles are the best!! I recommend it to anyone in pittsburgh.
Pho was solid, lots of meat and it's arranged where you can easily fix a bowl the next day if you have leftovers. Also really enjoyed the toasted and warm sesame balls with red bean filling. Just about everything else I've tried has been good, no duds so far.
The takeout packaging/presentation is excellent and the attention to detail makes a togo meal feel a little more special!
I have yet to dine in but their food is great!! Great atmosphere in the restaurant when I was picking up my food.
Stopped in for lunch and was the annoying indecisive, gonna take my time and read a book lone customer in the restaurant. Service was super friendly and attentive despite that- the rangoons were 10/10 with extra flavors in the cream cheese mixture. Flawless noodles too- I got the Japanese ramen with steak and miso. Very well priced for the portion sizes. Nothing fancy but reliable for delicious food!
This place is always great! Their dumplings are probably some of the best I’ve ever had! I ordered their Japanese pork belly ramen with miso broth at a spice level 2. They have miso broth and pork broth and spice levels 1-5. I also got the pork and cabbage dumplings. Love their dumpling sauce. I ordered the Thai tea boba but I couldn’t drink it bc it literally tasted like perfume idk what was wrong w it the boba was a good texture not too soft but the drink itself literally tasted like perfume gross. But everything else was delish!
Disappointing. Wasted $60. The beef soups and the bubble tea were awful.
Worst bubble tea I've ever had. Actually had to pour it out. Don't go there for tea.
I walked in before to order takeout and they told me to order online, despite me being there physically and could have just ordered in-person. After going through the process of ordering online, I left to wander around until the food was ready, since it seemed they didn’t want any physical contact beyond picking up orders. I waited 15 min and returned to check on the order. I was told they refunded me because they didn’t have the ingredients for what I ordered. Despite having to enter my phone number when placing the online order I didn’t get a call. What also irritates me about being told to order online despite being there in person is the accessibility issue of it. What if someone doesn’t have a smart phone, phone is dead, etc? I imagine the staff would be flexible, it just seems unnecessary if a customer is standing right in front of you.
ETA: I realized I did receive a call and did not know my phone rang. In the future I hope they leave a message, text, or send an email cancellation to do due diligence (I was checking my email since the website order sent confirmation emails.)
One of my favorite places in Pittsburgh for Pad Thai. The balance of flavors is perfection and the ingredients are always fresh. Also a huge fan of the crab rangoon and sushi. The one downside is any time my wife and myself dine in, the service is lacking. Waitresses can be a bit rude at times and aren’t very attentive. Would recommend to order out as opposed to dining in so the poor service doesn’t tarnish how incredible the food is.
When it’s always so busy with to go orders… you know it’s good then! With such variety, you’d be hard pressed to not find something you’re craving.
I ordered from mad noodles on doordash. I am SO impressed with this place. The soup dumplings are delicious (not super soupy but would order again) the sushi was fresh and delicious and the crab rangoons were probably the best I ever had. Yum yum!!
I am so sorry but my deluxe sushi was worst EVER! The fish was fine but rice was hardened or uncooked whichever it is. I will not order from this place again!
Consistently awesome.
Great food
I love the sushi, and the bubble tea! Sweet potato tempura rolls are great here.
I order lunch sushi here regularly. The food is very good, but they often get the order wrong. I have tried showing my online order receipt and explaining that it is not what I ordered. This results in me getting yelled at and no apology offered.
They gave me the wrong order. They gave me lychee in all of my drinks. So 1stars
Foods good parking was horrendous
The General Tso's chicken is good and spicy!
It was delicious. You have to order online and the pick it up, it's still not dine in. But the dishes were delicious.
Awesome food made to your liking with fresh ingredients. Got to go back
Their website did not say that you could not dine in the food was okay the service was okay
No dine in currently, but pick up was fast and easy. Food is always great.
I’ve ordered from here multiple times in the last few weeks. The pineapple chicken fried rice, the dumplings, mango bubble tea, etc you name it, it’s DELICIOUS.
The worst Asian food ever. The entire order went to the garbage can!!! Low quality produce used to make all the dishes. Ordered sushi tray, pad Thai with shrimp, fried calamari and Bubble tea. Everything been disposed. The frozen food from Dollar general taste better than this place!!!!
While the food may be priced higher than other Asian restaurants nearby, it's worth it. I always get quality food here, and their sushi is the best!
This was our second time trying Mad Noodles and I was very disappointed with the overall service and food. The lo mein that I ordered wasn't even lo mein- it was more so udon lo mein, since it was made with the wrong noodles, if that makes sense. Additionally, my boyfriend ordered the seasame chicken with broccoli and no joke, there were only 3 broccolis in his bowl. In addition to putting only 3 broccolis in his bowl, the "sesame chicken" was soaked in some sort of sweet and sour sauce, which is a first. Also, we ordered takeout at 8:08pm and when we got there at about 8:35, they hadn't even started our order. We had to wait an additional 15 mins. I would understand if they were busy, but there was only 1 other order ahead of ours and no one else was in the restaurant. Considering we spent $50, it was very disappointing and I am doubtful that we will ever come back.
Great food and large portions
Probably the worst pad thai I've ever had.
Zero flavor and dry. I'm glad I had a lime wedge so it didn't taste like just noodles.
Expensive too.
Yuck.
Save your self the pain and get some instant ramen. It's bad and way to expensive.
Very delicious! Thank you
Good food ,great selection. Ramen was ok needed more flavor it had spice.I added ginger and sesame oil to the miso broth. Dumplings were good ill try something different next time
Delicious, authentic (for Pittsburgh) food. Definitely a new fav! Highly recommend the buns and the udon soup.
Food was fresh and tasty but portion size was small in comparison to other poke bowl restaurants & price.
I love the fried pork buns. Great stuff!
I am highly dissatisfied and disappointed with my meal delivery I received! I ordered a Red Thai Curry Dinner w/ Tofu, THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST CURRY DISH I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED (AND I AM A HUGE FAN OF CURRY!) Unfortunately, or fortunately, Mad Noodles WILL NOT receive any future business from me. I spent a total of $24 (tip included) for a meal that I literally sent straight to the trash. Restaurants are becoming more and more laxed during this pandemic, when what they should be bringing is their A- game to every dish, as well as treating each order like it's for a 1st time customer.
Delicious food. Absolutely delicious.
I ordered sushi and other dishes for pick up. When I entered the restaurant the sushi chef was preparing sushi whistling without a mask. I confirmed with the staff that he was doing that and walked out. Great place for anti-mask people but if you are concerned about catching covid ( i am in the high risk for death population) I would avoid this place like the plague.
So spent 66.88$ on the 2 orders of seafood fried rice, curry beef shank soup and Thai seafood soup! Horrible soft noodles the crab was fish sticks and the beef shank was steakums! Yes I said it..the cheap one’s too you know the steak in the box! No flavor then the fried rice was supposed to contain crab.. again shredded up fish sticks crab flavored with cheap pieces of the ring squid. Never again will I waste my money.. I’d pick McDonald’s over this place 100 to nothing! Don’t waste your money!
The soup dumpling were good but very little broth, my friends Japanese Ramen was spicy with a lot of tender beef and nice flavor. Combination pho was fatty mystery meats, shreds of rubbery squid and flavorless broth. If I hadn't squeezed the lime would have tasted like water. Doubt I will ever go back.
This place is insanely over priced for the food you get. The stir fry Udon was just Lo Mein. The hibachi rice....let me say, I was choking on the amount of black pepper. Horrible.
Ordered bubble tea on door dash and it came with lychee jelly instead of tapioca bubbles, they said they didn’t have tapioca bubbles ready when I called to ask about it. They apologized and just kinda left it at there.
For a place that is supposed to specialize in noodles, this was possibly the worst ramen I've ever had. My bowl was filled to the brim with soup. The ingredients were basically mixed all together drowning in all the liquid. The egg was a hard boiled egg with a rock hard yolk. The heart of the dish was boring sliced pork belly that added nothing. I'm sure they use it in 5 other dishes so it's probably made to be universal. Would not recommend the ramen cant speak on anything else.
Good experience there, very clean place, delicious food and nice personal. There are a big dishes, I ate half of my. Cashew chicken has not a lot of cashews, but anyway was delicious. The madnoodle have a very good location for us.
I ordered the Singapore dish it was delicious. I also ordered a seafood broil it was ok. They overcharged me. They put 18% gratuity on my check it was only me and my husband eating.
Good food. Long wait
Rude waitress. I went out with a friend on a Saturday night and we decided to split a few dishes together. When I was ordering, the waitress looked at me and asked "are you sure you want to order all that?" The food was good, but I would probably order from GrubHub after that encounter.
Good
DO NOT GO HERE!!! DO NOT ORDER HERE!!! I ordered the shrimp combo on Uber Eats from Mad Noodles, and I have never been so disgusted to the point where I lost my appetite. The food was dirty! The shrimp was not clean at all, it was not deveined, there was hair and dirt all over the packaging and the liquid in the packaging had a black dilute color with a strong oder not like other sea food I have ever experienced. On top of all this, I called the restaurant and they were very dismissive and continued deflecting. The staff was very rude and not cooperative. This was an order of over 50 dollars!!! It is not worth your time or your money to spend it at this establishment, especially when there are many other restaurants available. Never eating here again!!!!!!
Absolutely delicious and you cannot beat the price!
Fantastic food, love their soups
You guys put the F in FLAVOR!!
I love your poke bowls and smoothies!!
Best delicious fresh food I’ve ever tasted!!
Rough service but great food
One of the best noodle houses in Pittsburgh. Try the pig wing as an appetizer!
Pork buns were awesome
