We had an amazing experience sitting at the bar! The vibe was fantastic, and George, our bartender and server, was exceptional. His food recommendations were spot on, and his great personality truly elevated our night.

We tried the Crab Fried Rice – absolutely amazing, the Green Curry (spicy level 3) – perfection, and the Tom Yum Soup (spicy level 3) – a bit too spicy for me, but still absolutely delicious. For dessert, the Fried Banana was so good I could have easily eaten four more servings!

We’ll definitely be back and have already recommended this place to friends and family. If you’re looking for great food, a fun atmosphere, and stellar service, this is the spot to go!

Imagine stepping into a cozy Thai spot in Philadelphia and being transported straight to the bustling streets of Bangkok. That’s exactly what happened the moment we walked into Grandma’s Philly. The vibe was warm and welcoming, but it was our server, Liam, who stole the show. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate, he made us feel like we were dining with family.

Now, let’s talk food. We ordered a spread that could have been a Thai feast in itself, and not a single dish disappointed. The Massaman curry was like a warm hug for the soul, rich and hearty with spices that unfolded on the palate. The Drunken noodles? Pure magic—spicy, flavorful, and packed with fresh veggies that added the perfect crunch. I’ve had Tom Yum soup before, but the Tom Yum here was next-level: tangy, spicy, and somehow both refreshing and comforting at the same time.

Then came the Green curry. Creamy, aromatic, and just the right balance of heat, it’s the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes and savor every spoonful. And finally, the spicy garlic eggplant—this dish deserves an award! The eggplant was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sauce? Let’s just say it’s the reason I’d happily eat here every week.

This isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience, and it’s one I had to share. Grandma’s Philly has officially ruined other Thai restaurants for me (in the best way possible). If you’re even remotely into Thai food, do yourself a favor and go. And ask for Liam—he’s a legend.

This place does have some pretty good pricing and good reviews but I was so disappointed in the Drunken noodles. They didn’t have much flavor just hot chili oil, caused pain in my stomach after and I usually love drunken noodles and chili oil/ a good spice level, but that food wasn’t even that super spicy. It was just uncomfortable. Although the noodles were a good texture and size. Curry puff was good. Curry noodles were also pretty good.

We've dined at Grandma's Philly Thai Restaurant on numerous occasions and have found it to be consistently excellent. The shrimp dumplings were succulent and mouthwatering. Our favorite entree, the Drunken Noodles (with chicken), was well seasoned and flavorful. A word of caution is that the food tends to be spicy, so better to err on a lower number (2 or 3 out of 5) unless spicy is your thing. Overall, this restaurant rates 4.5 stars.

Everything we ordered was delicious and full of flavor! You can customize the spice level to be mild in nearly all the dishes. The restaurant is on the smaller side but very cozy and inviting. Our server was fantastic! He even offered to speak to my parents in a different language when he noticed they didn't speak English.

I love this place so much. the service was incredible, the lighting is great highly suggest going at night, food was fantastic. celebrated my anniversary and the lit a candle in our dessert! the food was just incredible and staff gave great suggestions. the chiffon cake was great even for people who dont really enjoy coconut. they were so accommodating to our requests ie no peanuts, less bean sprouts, etc. the dishes themselves are gorgeous. i loved how everything was presented. i would highly suggest going here and i will definitely be back

Y'all I came here for the Super Bowl. Just happened to stumble upon it trying to find a bar that was playing the game. The place is so nice, dimly lit with a great ambience. Jasper waited on me at the bar and made me a great vodka cran. I got a few different small bites and they were all really good. He was very nice and attentive while servicing everyone at the bar. Seaso was another server who helped me when I needed and seemed to do a great job waiting his tables. They served everyone complementary green tea shots after the Eagles scored. Id recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a good vibe and not overly crowded.

This place is overhyped. I introduced this place to my friend and he brought his family here for dinner. After coming home, everyone had sort of food poisoning symptoms. I went there with my roommate, we were waiting for long inside to get order, however no one came to tell us that the kitchen already closed despite there were still bunch of waiters around and literally no one told us anything for like 15 minutes. My roommate and I again wanted to try again at this place, we came earlier at 6PM, still we standing there and literally no one came and asked us regarding to the foods, dine in, order order we were standing there at the door for 15 minutes and we just left without anyone from the restaurant came and gave us service. So disappointed and never coming back.

Absolutely outstanding experience! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. The atmosphere was inviting, and the aroma of authentic Thai spices set the stage for an incredible meal.

While the food was absolutely delicious—perfectly balanced Pad Thai, rich and flavorful Massaman Curry, and the most delightful Mango Sticky Rice—the true star of the evening was Vladimir. Their service was nothing short of superior and exceptional. They were incredibly attentive without being intrusive, anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, and provided expert recommendations with a friendly and professional demeanor. Their knowledge of the menu and passion for ensuring we had a perfect dining experience truly set them apart.

This was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had, thanks to the outstanding service and incredible food. We will definitely be returning soon!

The terrible service at Grandma's Philly never ceases to amaze me. As a local, I must have given this place 100 chances. It's actually impressive how consistently they manage to not deliver the food you order. Whether it's for take out (either sitting at home waiting for delivery or sitting at the restaurant waiting for my pick-up order to be ready) or dining in (sitting at the table for literally hours waiting for food). There's no apology from the staff (except one time when we dined in). There's no attempt to make it right. Amazing, really. The food is good, when you wrangle it out of them. If you want to be amazed by terrible service, go to Grandma's.

My waitress Selena was super kind and helped with menu she gave me very good recommendations.I ordered the Thai sausage and the Khao Soi both tasted super good The Khao Soi curry sauce was very rich and the noodles were cooked perfectly the service was excellent the waitress here are very kind and sweet and for dessert I ordered the coconut cream cake fluffy and had good amount of sweetness the cream had a scent of coconut and they top coconut on top too it was perfect.

Have given Grandmas a second chance after a terrible first experience. The first time I dined for dinner, the service was terrible and the food was decent. The second chance, I dined for lunch and food was not good, service was fine. Idk if the all of the glowing reviews are real?? But what do I know. Just giving honest feedback on my two experiences. There is much better Thai food in Philly. I won't give it a third chance.

This is my second time trying grandmas. The first time the service was so terrible that the owner(?) gave me a gift card, which was nice, but the food and drinks were not good. It’s been over a year since this experience, and I decided I’d try again and give them a second chance for takeout. I called multiple times to place an order so that I’d be able to use the gift card and never received an answer. I then tried to place an online order for Pad Kee Mao, but was deterred by a glitch that does not allow you to place an order unless you order extra protein. Upon receiving my food, the vegetables in my Tom Kha soup were simply uncooked, and the portions for the “shared entrees” were way too small considering the price. The tofu had no flavor, and to top it all off, I found a long hair in my food. I would not recommend this place at all, and I’m extremely disappointed with my experiences here.

Hands down, my favorite Thai restaurant in Philly! My partner and I were going for a stroll in Center City and decided to look for a new restaurant to try. This restaurant caught my attention for some reason. I love finding hidden gems in the city and this one is definitely one of them.

I love the Thai tapas concept because in Asian culture, family style is common but it's difficult to do when it's just you or one other person so the idea of being able to share small plates is amazing.

It's my goal to try everything on their menu but so far, my favorites are the Curry Puffs, Chicken Satay, Crispy Chives, Fried Calamari. Mango sticky rice is a MUST for dessert. Though I recommend everything because their food has never disappointed me.

You might experience long wait times for the food because they get so many takeout orders and I can't blame them for that.

Probably one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of dining in for a while. Menu is large but not overwhelming, providing many options for all diners. The atmosphere is pleasant and modern, with a good amount of space for each table. I also want to specifically thank Thomas (our server) and George (the bartender) for being knowledgeable, warm, and just all around great! Will be returning soon, I’m sure.

The food and drinks were very good. The servers were attentive but the 'Thai Tapas' thing sort of throws the service off. The servers ask your spice level but they are not the ones bringing the food. The ones bringing the food are unaware of the spice level of the dishes they are bringing. It also falls short when one person is delivered a warm meal but everyone else is waiting several minutes more for theirs to arrive.

The food is very delicious. I had the Drunken Noodles with Chicken, Steamed Shrimp Dumplings, Chicken Satey and Sticky Rice. Yes...I eat too much...All was excellent!

The curry puffs are a must try as well as the Khao Soi (curry noodles). The flavors are very well balanced & are well done. I would highly recommend this restaurant for it's quick service and quality food.

But let me tell you, the coconut chiffon cake was the real masterpiece. It was incredibly light and airy, with fresh coconut that gave it a tropical burst of flavor. I was really hoping to like this place but it was a little disappointing for the price and portion. The plates are smaller than what I saw online but they cost at least $20+ per plate. The flavors were good but again it's so small for what you're paying for. You can just go to Chinatown and get something similar. We also barely got any service, we sat there for a while and no one came by (this was when they were less busy too).

Seriously, you have to go here!!! The best Thai restaurant is town. The food is absolutely mindblowing. My friend and I both agreed it was the best meal of the year. We got the famous meatballs, curry puffs, papaya salad, crispy pork Thai basil, and mango sticky rice. The meatballs were juicy and packed with flavor, perfect with rice. The curry puffs were fragrant, soft, and pillow-y. It's a party in your mouth. The papaya salad was umami, a bit spicy, a bit sweet, and packed with different textures. You just can't stop eating it. The crispy pork was no joke! It was truly crispy even with sauce over it. Delicious with rice. And you can't ever go wrong with mango sticky rice. I'm so excited to come back again and introduce my other friends to this place.

Came here a few years ago for the meatballs and also got the pork spring roll. Mainly came in since had to charge my phone and was able to to sit near window where there was outlet. Came in n was sat right away. Nice staff and will have to come back but loved the meatballs and the spring rolls were good too

This place!! It was recommended by a loyal customer and it was amazing! We had a window seat and were able to people watch while we enjoyed the authentic cuisine. It is rare to find a place with such fresh and crisp vegetables, spices and noodles. We are already planning our trip back!

It’s my first time here and I had an amazing time. First, I was greeted with a smile and welcomed nicely. I had the pleasure of Cso and Gift taking care of me, both helped me navigate the Thai food menu, gave me recommendations, and told me about some other spots in the city. Eventually my phone was about to die and Cso plugged it in on the charger which was very helpful. Gift stopped by the table frequently and had a great sense of hospitality. Lastly at the bar I met the bartender, George. It was a pleasure meeting George as he gave me some recommendations for some of their Thai beers. He was also so nice to talk to, he had some amazing stories and some great advice. It had a great time here and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

The best Thai food I have ever had. The Khao Soi was better than any I’ve had even in Thailand. The chicken was remarkably tender. I ordered low spice and it was perfect (still had a kick). I will be back as soon as I can.

Khao soi tasted great but was really thick and in a bowl that was too small. Vibe and decor were really off. Packed in too close to other people. It was also bizarrely loud inside for 6:00 on a Monday night. Not bad but won’t be going again. Really aggressive signage in the bathroom.

The food, cocktails, and people at Grandma’s Philly are always top-notch for me so far. I’ve stopped in probably 4 times over this past year, and it’s been consistently good. Traditional flavors, soothing ambiance. Pleasantly full with Tom Yum Noodles and pork dumplings (taking most home cause I’m stuffed). Choose your own spice. On a scale on 1 to 5, I chose 2.5 and it was just what I was looking for, a little sweat, no pain. I didn’t have any cocktails today because I am in the midst of work, but Jasper the bartender provides excellent service and also mentioned they have a second restaurant about a mile south of here called Ratchada Thai & Laos Cuisine, must try that next!

Dined in Saturday 4pm. Service was below average- no sharing plates no one asked how we were doing. Food was not consistent with past visit , curry puffs were not bad , but undercooked. Duck was dry. Disappointing.

Food was delicious and came out quickly! Kind of a club vibe with the music late at night. Good service with Vladimir - attentive and helpful with allergy questions.

What a hidden gem! Me and my friend ordered meatballs (they’re worth the hype), shrimp skewers and curry noodles. Everything was delicious! Our server Vladimir was very attentive and me and my friend had a great time.

Placed orders beforehand (at 5pm and to get delivered at 7pm) - they never prepared, made the driver wait for more than 30 mins and then cancelled the order. Utterly trash

Pretty tame for thai food especially the curry, needs more spice for me. But the mango sticky rice is 💯!!

Brought my parents here and they loved it! Food was incredible and at a great price, service from Vladimir was hospitable and fun, and the soft jazz playlist was an elegant touch. Will be coming back again!

Ohh gosh! Where do I start! Can’t even begin to do justice to how amazing the Chicken Drunken Noodles and the Khao Soi were..just out of the world! Simply spectacular! Went for my wife’s b’day and we were blown away! Mouth watering and yummy and flavorful! So rich and classy on the taste buds..we ended up taking to-go orders of the very same dishes we had for dinner, so that we could relish it the next day too! We ended up at Grandma’s Philly purely because we couldn’t get a reservation at Mawn! We were so unbelievably happy that this place turned out to be such a blockbuster hit for our tastebuds! Keep up the great tasty food, Grandma’s Philly..you have in me a fan of yours for as long as I can breathe!

I had ordered from Grandma’s Philly for delivery but finally had a chance to check out the brick and mortar on a cold winter night. It was super inviting and nice inside, and I opted to sit at the bar with a friend. Every dish was amazing- we ordered the curry puffs, grandma’s meatballs, and noodles! Everything was flavorful and fresh. George took care of us at the bar and had great suggestions and recommendations! Wish I had not been too full for dessert!!

The food is absolutely delicious as are the drinks. The meatballs and the curry puffs are to die for. The drunken noodles are the best I’ve had. George hooked us up and took care of us the entire time.

Phenomenal food, service and atmosphere. This is my absolute go to place for Thai food in Philly. If you go here at night and have the opportunity to sit at the bar, hopefully George is working. He makes great drinks and always good conversation. Highly recommend.

Food was good! We were lucky we didn’t have to wait even though it was Friday and busy. The host was friendly, our servers were nice, informative, and did not check on us too many times to make us feel rushed. A very nice man wearing a yankees hat thanked us and wished us a good night. Staff was top notch for center city. Food was delicious, reasonably priced, and not too sprawling of a menu. Docking points for the annoying usb charged table lamp, the back of the restaurant is very dark and the front of the restaurant was pretty bright. Also both my bowl and plate had a chip on it. I think the overall vibe/ aesthetic can use a bit of an upgrade.

I’ve only been here once, but it’s beautiful inside. They have a great menu filled with different options for various diets. I had their Thai green curry with tofu, which was phenomenal!! I will definitely be returning.

First time here on New Years Eve and did not disappoint! The food was amazing. Great thai flavors, and great cocktails as well! We love going to restaurants that have a bar to sit at, and we were extremely happy that Grandma's has one. Special thanks to George for taking of everything and making perfect drinks. We will be back many more times....

First time visiting Philly and a friend recommended this place. The curry I had was amazing and Jasper, my server, made the whole experience even better. Will definitely come back.

Rude and non existent service. Waited 20 minutes on the “2-5” minutes waitlist then received a text that we would not get a table even though the restaurant was half empty. Try the Thai places across the street.

I loved the food, I got the drunken noodles which is definitely an excellent choice. The service was also top notch, our server was Vladimir and he was nothing short of perfect. Really had a great time here and will be coming again.

If you come to Philly & eat Thai food, Massaman curry w/roast beef is an area specialty. Grandma's does it with wide appeal and style.

Ask for a side of spice/extra spice if you want it any level above saltine crackers.

The place is a decent spot for a date. They had some good options. We had a great server - Vladmir, who was more than accommodating. The food was quite decent.

Have a reservation and choose your seats beforehand, as they don't allow for a change later.

We've dined at Grandma's Philly Thai Restaurant on numerous occasions and have found it to be consistently excellent. The shrimp dumplings were succulent and mouthwatering. Our favorite entree, the Drunken Noodles (with chicken), was well seasoned and flavorful. A word of caution is that the food tends to be spicy, so better to err on a lower number (2 or 3 out of 5) unless spicy is your thing. Overall, this restaurant rates 4.5 stars.

What a wonderful experience! My partner & I were visiting from New York for a few days & was recommended by a friend and my gosh was it phenomenal. The chive dumplings and the sauce were to die for. The meatballs were so flavorful! We absolutely loved the atmosphere the service & the best Thai food we've had. Will be back!

We had an amazing experience sitting at the bar! The vibe was fantastic, and George, our bartender and server, was exceptional. His food recommendations were spot on, and his great personality truly elevated our night.

We tried the Crab Fried Rice – absolutely amazing, the Green Curry (spicy level 3) – perfection, and the Tom Yum Soup (spicy level 3) – a bit too spicy for me, but still absolutely delicious. For dessert, the Fried Banana was so good I could have easily eaten four more servings!

We’ll definitely be back and have already recommended this place to friends and family. If you’re looking for great food, a fun atmosphere, and stellar service, this is the spot to go!

I chose this specific restaurant bc of the vegan-friendly options and previous reviews. I will start by saying that the food was amazing! I get Pad Thai at every Thai restaurant first to see how it is and this has been the best by far! It’s interesting that they serve it deconstructed but delicious nonetheless! My husband got the Thai Basil Rice 🍚 with shrimp. He got it at a level 3 spicy and said he could’ve had it spicier but it was still good.
There was some questionable behavior from our bartender but he apologized and we moved on.
I would return to this restaurant and recommend it but would just hope for a better experience.

I came with my wife a few days before our flight to Thailand. Wanted something to compare the food to in thailand... she was saying cmon babe you know it won't compare... but that Khoa Soi was crazy good! The server (not the waiter) gave her my 3/5 spicy one though... she can't do spicy at all! That's the only complaint. Shootout Vladimir - he took great care of us!!

Sausage was good, papaya salad not at all … but the entrees were just bad (drunken noodles and Thai basil). I seriously don’t know how in a foodie city like Philly they have 4.8 while other great Thai places have less. I’m sorry since the service and the place were nice, but the food was not good.
