Omg! When I first saw the place I was disappointed. It's not a very "date night" looking place with pink plastic booths.

But the food!!! Absolutely amazing Thai food! The seafood, mushrooms, vegetables, and authentic Thai ingredients - lemongrass, galangal, tamarind, etc. - are used perfectly in beautiful dishes to create that perfect balance of spice, sweet, and sour.

The waiter was kind and helpful. It was a great choice!

Diner Review №2

They're not kidding when they say this is absolutely true to real Thai cuisine taste, everything I ordered was perfectly prepared.

Diner Review №3

Nice hygiene food, believe it’s family owned restaurant and operated only by their family, it’s good tasty food.

Diner Review №4

One of the nicest Thai restaurants in Philly! All food is so good. I do recommend fried Pork Belly. The owner and service are superb and clean!

Diner Review №5

Delicious fried noodles and soup. Boat noodle is a must try 🍲

Diner Review №6

The food was fantastic and the owner he was so sweet can’t wait to come back again

Diner Review №7

Some of the most authentic Thai food I've had outside of Thailand. They have dishes I haven't seen at any other Thai restaurant in the US (like hoi tod).
Astute patrons will see the evidence of Thai authenticity in the bathroom...!
Highly recommended

It's spicy but good. Service was wondering

Diner Review №11

I really wanted to like this place better. It seems new and seems mom/pop. However, the shortcomings really can't be overlooked.

For one, the wait. When we got there, the one other table already had their food. So I truly do not know why it took so long for us to get menus and subsequently food. There was a game show playing on the TV so from how many episodes we watched, it took at least 30 minutes to get even the appetizer after ordering. I also wish they hadn't waited until bringing food to bring water. The phone rang a few times but no one was at the front for most of the time so I'm sure they missed a few potential takeout orders.

The food itself left a lot to be desired. The appetizer, moo tod nam phra (fried pork belly with tamarind sauce) was the best of the three things we got and to their credit had a decent amount of meat. The yen ta fo ta lay (the pink soup with seafood & noodles) was not a dish we were familiar with and probably not one I would get again. There was a decent amount of seafood but the flavoring was quite thin, as were the noodles (not sure if the noodles are supposed to be so thin but they really did a disservice to the soup). Finally, the pad ka na was a fairly traditional dish and the flavoring was pretty good but the portion of vegetables and meat was quite disproportionate to the amount of rice.

Diner Review №12

Food tasted fine and prices were reasonable but meat portion for the pad kra pao was very small, which disappointed me. Got it for takeout and it was not nearly as much as I would expect for a meat dish, probably the smallest I've received at a Thai restaurant before. The guy was nice at the checkout but I probably won't go back due to portion sizes.

Diner Review №13

We popped in here for a quick bite on our way to The Met. The food served was amazing! The pictures on the menu made us slightly concerned because they did not make the dishes look good, but what actually came out of the kitchen was DELICIOUS. You will not regret enjoying a meal at this restaurant!!

Diner Review №14

I love the fried rice here. It has natural flavor of fresh ingredients, not too salty, not feeling the use of MSG, which is what I'm looking for.

When we came at noon on weekday, the staff there were very busy. One of the three dishes took half an hour. The other two were like 10-15min, which was okay. They are very nice and willing to help. Next time if I come here, I want to try the mango sticky rice.

Diner Review №15

I was blown away by the red curry chicken dish, it was on the specials but they said they are adding to the full menu. The best meal I’ve had in a long time.

Diner Review №16

This place is truly authentic Thai food and was delicious. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №17

I Had a delicious Pad See EW! Best in town! The Thai Tea was a great balance of cream and tea!!☕️

Diner Review №18

Little pretty place! Food was good! Staff very friendly, my partner and i were in a rush but food came out quick! I loved the lemon thai Iced tea!

Diner Review №22

We recently dined here and unfortunately found it lacking in several areas.

We got Hoi Tod and Tum Sua for appetizer which was a great start. Then we got our entree not long after. The Thai basil and Yen ta fo was underwhelming and bland. I can't even finish half of my noodle.

The atmosphere was less inviting than anticipated, the most concerning issue was the presence of a fly in the dining area. It was unsettling to see a fly landing on our table and, later, on the food. This not only diminished our appetite but also raised serious concerns about the restaurant's cleanliness and food safety.

While the staff was courteous, the service was a noticeable lack of attentiveness.

Overall, they did not meet its reputation or my expectations. There is significant room for improvement, particularly regarding cleanliness and service. I hope they address these issues to provide a better dining experience in the future.

Diner Review №23

I park near by and work down the street from there. I always wanted to go in and try them out. Well I finally did and everything was awesome!! Here's the proof that I enjoy everything. It was the crispy fried wings ( Gai Sab) and the mussel pancakes ( Hod Tod)

Diner Review №25

Diner Review №26

Authentic? Definitely not the Pad Thai, the fried rice or the satay!!!! I don’t know if yall know what good Thai food is, but this is not it. Pad Thai tasted like they ran out of tamarind and used ketchup instead. Fried rice.. basic! Satay… chewy, rock hard, maybe chicken, on sticks. Super disappointed! Came based solely on reviews. Place was dirty, bathroom even more so. The only thing that wasn’t terrible was the fried pork belly. The sauce made no difference. It was plain fried pork belly. The service was good and he was very polite. For the price … not worth it at all.

Diner Review №27

Great food! Love the fresh iced tea! Awesome customer service alongside a good atmosphere! Would definitely recommend 100%

Diner Review №28

Genuine Thai, DELICIOUS.

Diner Review №29

Food is so good. They also have tehbfanciest water cups.

Diner Review №30

Thank you thank you thank you saved me I will be bringing my family for dinner ❤️

Diner Review №31

Delicious thai food and best jamican juice ever!!!

Diner Review №32

Diner Review №33

Just stopped by earlier to try their mango sticky rice, and it was the best that I’ve ever had. You can tell that it’s family owned and the owners were so sweet. My new favorite sweet tooth dish!

Diner Review №34

อร่อยแซ่บนัวมาก

Diner Review №35

When we walked in on Thursday night, we noticed tables that were not properly cleaned. And the Tv was broadcasting a reality show loudly. We really enjoyed Pad kra pow with crispy pork. The tom yum ta lay has fresh ingredients and very flavorful. Unfortunately, it was too salty for my taste. Good quality Pad Thai starts with the perfect consistency of noodle. Unfortunately they overcooked their noodles and ruined the entire dish. This restaurant serves many authentic dishes and we will give it a second chance with the papaya salad and yen ta fo.

Diner Review №36

Delicious! Staff so nice. Worth checking out

Diner Review №38

Not from the area, came here cause it had the best rating for Thai in the area. It was midday so the place was empty. I got my food to go and the person who took my order was very nice! But when I got back in and went to eat my food... The fried rice was mushy and had little to no flavor. I ordered the Khao Pad Ka Praow/Spicy basil fried rice(No meat) which usually has a pretty seasoned and spicy flavor, this tastes like regular rice with a *hint* of flavor, and it seems it may have been made with freshly cooked rice and that may be why it's so mushy. Just overall pretty disappointing as this is my favorite Thai dish to get and I've never experienced it be made this far off the mark. I didn't eat more than a few bites cause it's just not good, it sucks cause I was really looking forward to it. The Veg spring rolls were also mushy inside.

Diner Review №39

Having lived in Thailand for years, this is the most authentic tasting I have tried in Philly. อร่อยมาก

Diner Review №40

Small cozy restaurant, very clean. Food was good and it came out very quickly. They were also really polite

Diner Review №41

Came here with my fiancé’s and my family for graduation. Everyone loooves it. Well balanced tastes, amazing food, great price, nice owner, and the utensil? Intricate. We literally could finish everything but gotta go catch the entrance. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for all parties.

Diner Review №42

My friends have been to Thailand and they said the food was very authentic. The fried pork dish was very good. Mango sticky rice was also delicious.

Diner Review №43

Love the food.

Diner Review №44

I love me some Papaya Salad, it did not disappoint. I also had the Pineapple rice with Chicken and it also was delicious. My son had white rice with Beef and Brocolli, he said it was good but my rice was better. We spent a little over $50 but with the way things are these days, I think that’s expected. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.k

Diner Review №45

Diner Review №46

Great food at pretty reasonable prices. Wasn't very busy either.

Papaya Thai salad is so refreshing! The portion is quite small, but tasty. Mango sticky rice is light and so good. Polite service.

Diner Review №49

Diner Review №50

Very delicious! Portions were a little on the smaller side and prices were more what I’d expect from a slightly cuter spot/nicer neighborhood. But I would come back.

Diner Review №51

Get the pad see ew

Diner Review №52

Affordable and delicious food. Clean premises. Not a fancy place, but amazing Thai food.

Diner Review №53

This place has such good food! We had Pad Ka Praow and the Guay Tiew Nam Sai. The Pad La Praow was so flavorful and the Guay Tiew Nam Sai was so hearty. I would say both really felt like comfort food! I would definitely come back to try more things on their menu ! We also had the mango sticky rice for dessert. This is not a comment on the restaurant but I think the dish would be even better during mango season. The rice is warm sticky and sweet but the mango is not juicy, but again, it’s not mango season. But I would get this dessert again just for the rice (-:

Diner Review №54

Pretty authentic Thai with the baby watching TV in the same room as the customers. The food was decent but the atmosphere was a little strange maybe because we were the only ones in there. When we were seated we had to wipe down one seat while the hostess watched us do it, instead of helping. Didn't even bring us a replacement napkin.

Diner Review №55

Diner Review №56

Delicious food! I recommend the pad see ew.

Diner Review №57

Read the great reviews after having a thai craving and searching for a good spot! They were all very accurate on how delicious and authentic this place really is. My mom got the pad ka praow and I the pad see ew with the nom yen drink. It was a very comfortable vibe and the food was absolutely amazing! Will definitely come back and bring friends to try!

Also, I have a cashew allergy and know that thai food can have them, so I asked if they were able to make my food separately and they were able to accommodate with no issue!

Diner Review №58

Thai food is above average with portions leaning in the smaller side at center city prices. Casual and relax service. A little to find parking. Overall worth a stop by if you’re in the area. The crispy pork dish stood out.

Diner Review №59

Good service, good food. Little pricy for its dish

Diner Review №60

This is a gem of a spot! Thank you for the great service and really good food! I had vegetarian dishes and they were all so delicious. The place itself is clean & professional with really friendly service!!

Diner Review №61

Small restaurant but the food was amazing. We stopped in because we were staying nearby. We ordered several entrees, soup, and a couple of desserts, and everything was sooo very good.

Diner Review №62

This place is such a hidden gem. I came across it on Google Map while looking for a place for lunch. We came there at opening time on Sunday, and we had the whole restaurant for ourselves. The food were so good, especially the fried chicken!! We ordered 2 of those cause they were so good. The flavors are really authentic too! It was $73 total after tax and we were stuffed!!

Diner Review №63

I ordered the Laab Gia (sometimes called Larb Gia) with sticky rice. It was deliciously outstanding, and very authentic to Thai cuisine. The flavor and texture reminded me of Bangkok food. The owners are very nice too.

Diner Review №64

Diner Review №65

bangkok born here! This is LEGIT Thai street food. Nothing on the menu disappoints. Food cooked with love by people who know what they are doing. From the soups to the kaprow to the fried pork and desserts, everything will take you over to the land of smiles. My go to place whenever I’m homesick. Fair prices, perfect balance of sweet salt sour spicy, the key to good Thai food. The boutique feel is exactly what you would find in an auntie style food stall. Check it out!

Diner Review №66

Delicious, and accurate timing for takeout! I just got the pad see ew (highly recommended, although smaller portion than I was expecting, I ate everything instead of having since left for a small lunch the next day). The atmosphere is calm, and the staff was pleasant and friendly. I’m just passing through town, but this is an establishment worth visiting!

Diner Review №67

So good! Chicken wings are incredible but everything we have tried is great. Also very cute inside.

Diner Review №68

I was really impressed with the quality of the food! Really beautiful fresh produce and well-balanced seasoning (nicely spicy and not too sweet, which can be a bit hard to find in Philly). Reminded me of the amazing Thai food you can get in California -- definitely the best I've had anywhere in Pennsylvania! This is a gem of a spot.

Diner Review №69

This good for thai Restaurant and It is very delicious.

Diner Review №70

Authentic Thai food and friendly people

Diner Review №71

We stumbled upon this little Thai restaurant and whoa, it stole my heart with amazing food. The owner was very friendly and the dishes were packed with flavour. If you're up for some real Thai goodness and chill vibes, definitely give this hidden gem a shot!

Diner Review №72

I follow a lot of Thai bloggers and this Thai food is the most authentic I have seen in Philly because it is the same as the food that Tiktok bloggers have documented in Thailand street ,

Diner Review №73

Great blend of flavors. Tastes are very fresh and clean.

Diner Review №74

The food was very good! The service was slow the food came out wrong and then it literally came out one dish at a time in 5 min intervals.
The waiter was quite nice but he was clueless about the menu.

Diner Review №75

Sooooo gooooood

Diner Review №76

Favorite Thai restaurant in Philly! We literally go there every week!

Diner Review №77

Diner Review №78

Diner Review №79

While there are so many Thai restaurants in the city, it’s not easy to find an authentic one. As someone who was born and raised in Thailand, I can confirm that this place is truly authentic! The food was excellent and service was top notch. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №80

Must be missing something here, got the Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) and was thoroughly disappointed at how lifeless this dish looked. No sauce, no flavor, especially for a dish that is supposed to be flavorful and at least somewhat spicy. Had to redo it myself and add sauce, spices and herbs. Not worth $14 at all.

Diner Review №81

So much to like about this place. Parking is right outside on Vine street and it's free after 6:30pm (metered at other hours).

Thai ice coffee was on point (5/5).

For starters , my friend and I had the Fried Pork Belly (5/5) and Tum Pla Ra (spicy papaya salad) (4.5/5). The pork belly was very fatty but in a very delicious way and very juicy. The papaya salad was delicious and authentic, not too spicy in my opinion.

For main course, we tried the Pad Kra Paow with spicy pork (5/5) and Khao pad (Thai fried rice 3.5/5). The spicy pork was wow and so amazing. The Thai fried rice was relatively plain in comparison.

All in all, gem in the neighborhood and can't wait to come back again.

(I’m from Bangkok, Thailand here doing grad school in Philly)

Highly recommended for unique Thai fare that is not typically found in a lot of other restaurants; furthermore, they specialize in Thai dessert that is once again not easily found in the average Thai restaurant.

Diner Review №86

I had a few items for takeout, and it was good.

Diner Review №87

The crispy pork belly is unreal! The food is all excellent. Plus the place is super cute.

Diner Review №88

Amazing fresh Thai food served by a working dad with his baby. Prawn tasted fresh and chicken soup tasted true to the description.

Diner Review №89

Great city eatery, family run business. Good Thai street food and drinks, would love to go there again.

Diner Review №90

I don’t know what else I can say except OMG! This is by far the best Thai food I have ever had. It is as authentic as it comes and just absolutely incredible. You have to try the spicy chicken wings. They were AMAZING! I got the Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) and it was by far the best I have ever had. My husband got the Pad Kra Pao which was equally amazing. I had such a hankering for Tom Yum Soup (not on the menu) and the cook was kind enough to make it for me. All I can say is holy yum yums! It was absolutely incredible and absolutely hit the spot. The Thai iced tea was also perfectly sweet, milky, and flavorful as it should be. To cap off our dinner, my husband and I both wanted Mango Sticky Rice which was also not on the menu. One of the owners (who was waiting tables) went to speak to the kitchen who miraculously found 2 beautifully ripe mangoes and was kind enough to make it for us. I have no words to describe how ethereal it was. The mango was soft like butter but sweet and flavorful. The rice had a hint of sweetness and overall, the whole dish was absolutely perfect. Never did I think I’d have to come to Philly to find the most perfect Thai food. I almost regret going because I will never find anything in NJ (where I live) that will compare with Chon Tong Thai Kitchen. You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not go here for your Thai food. I don’t know what else to say.

Diner Review №91

I am Thai and this place is absolutely authentic! The food tastes fantastic! I would say the best I have in the U.S. especially tum khao phot, yum moo yow kung and tom sab!

Diner Review №92

This is such a gem! I'm Thai and this place makes me feel at home. Great food, authentic taste and friendly service. I will definitely come back for more!

Diner Review №93

Amazing family owned restaurant

Diner Review №94

Diner Review №95

We got the tum tod, larb gai and pad Thai with shrimp, all were delicious! We got it to go and the food was packaged perfectly, prices were also very reasonable, we’ll be be back soon!

Diner Review №96

Chon Tong Thai restaurant in Philadelphia is a hidden gem that everyone needs to know about. The small, clean, and cozy atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing meal. The staffs are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. As for the food, the Gai Sab (Thai-style wings) are out of this world. Tender and flavorful, they are one of the best wings I’ve ever had. The deep-fried pork belly with Thai dipping sauce is also a must-try. It’s fried to perfection and the sauce is savory and sweet, a great complement to the dish. The corn salad is a refreshing and light side dish that adds a nice sweet and sour taste to the palate. The laen chicken is smoky, moist, and incredibly delicious. Don't forget to try the Nom Yen drink, a Thai pink milk, and the Thai ice tea. The Nom Yen was a definite winner for me. Overall, Chon Tong Thai restaurant is a fantastic place to grab authentic Thai food. I will definitely be back there for some more!

Really great family owned restaurant, good food, fantastic service, very accommodating with gluten free options. We love this place and we will be back!

Diner Review №101

food is delicious and the inside is very cute! I recommend if you want good authentic Thai food. Also the desserts are so good!

Diner Review №102

Diner Review №103

Get the Kanom Tom (the rice flour balls with palm sugar filling dessert), you won't regret it! My husband ordered Moo Tod Nam Phra two times in a row in one day (LOL), it says a lot how good it is! The fish sauce concoction they prepare in-house is amazing. The host was also very friendly. We stayed at Sonder Onyx, which is just right next door, and we're happy we found this gem.

Diner Review №104

Authentic Thai Food, Very delicious!

Diner Review №105

A Thai American friend introduced me to Chon Tong and he was so right - this place is legit. Best Thai food I've had in the United States since moving to this country 10 years ago. I grew up in Asia and visited Thailand often growing up; to me, Chon Tong tastes really authentic! Will be back many more times. Also, the decor is cute and the family who runs the restaurant is even cuter :)

Solid food that has a menu that's a little different from typical Thai restaurants. Shared a large Tom Sab Moo with a friend for lunch - was the perfect size and a great value! It's a small scale operation and the service is very friendly.

Diner Review №112

Been here several times now and loved every bit of it! Desserts are also delicious.

Diner Review №113

I'm from Bangkok, Thailand. The food here is exactly what I had back home. The place is relatively small but cozy. The staff are also lovely.

Diner Review №114

Great food. My wife who is Thai said it is authentic. Make sure to order the chicken wings they're breaded perfectly
