Relaxed Laotian-Thai BYOB spot serving curries, noodles, salads & soups in a compact setting.
The food was a flavor bomb in the mouth! So yummy! The PAD KEE MAO noodles was amazing with tofu. We had the AW LAO stew with shrimp and it worked so well with the sticky rice. The dill was such a surprisingly good combo with the lemon grass! Great service and atmosphere as well :)
I’ve been here twice now, I enjoyed every dish I have received so far! I’ve gotten the green papaya salad, Thai style, the tofu in tamarind sauce, the Laos sausages, and the banh-xeo with tofu. All really good so far and well flavored and textured. Their banh-xeo was by far my favorite both times I went and then their Laos sausages are amazing and have all the sauces and vegetables I anticipated. I can’t wait to try more! The service was also really good and professional as usual! Ive also had the Vietnamese iced coffee and Thai ice tea, Vietnamese coffee was better to me!
The place looks small from outside but it's kinda of spacious when you enter. They have a very different menu. We ordered Banh-xeo(tofu). This is a first time I had tasted this dish and it was delicious and huge in portion. We also had fried tofu in tamarind sauce. I was disappointed that they didn't have chicken wings. We also had spicy yellow curry and king soup with prawns. The portions are generous and presentation was cute.
Love this place but yesterday was very disappointing. Promised a half hour wait for a table, however it took almost close to an hour. Took another 20 minutes just to get our order in, 30 min for the food, another 30 for dessert ...you get the pattern! We left there exhausted from just the waiting.
Food is always great as usual but this visit really does not want me to return in a very long while.
Tip #1: Do not just walk in , especially on a Friday.
Tip #2: Their "refreshing" mango juice tastes like a watery medicine. Beware!
I wasn't sure what to expect walking in and was met with a super long menu of options. It is broken down a bit into Laos/Thai and then appetizers, but we weren't so sure where to start. We asked for help and were given a ton of suggestions we probably would never have chosen ourselves.
We started with the Tom Saap. I found this flavoring to be pretty pleasant and fragrant. The structure of the dish is a little hard to eat but the soup floats around a flame with meat cooking all the time. This didn't come with rice so we ordered on the side (it feels a bit egregious not to offer rice with this). Then went with the mok casserole with salmon. The salmon here was good but felt like salmon I could have cooked at home and the casserole itself was...meh. For the price of the salmon upcharge this was not worth it.
Not sure if we just tried the wrong dishes or if this is reflective of the place at large. Would consider trying other dishes from here? But I'm certainly not rushing to come back here.
BYOB. Service was okay. When we walked in we made eye contact with essentially everyone in the kitchen, none of whom seemed interested in offering us a table. Once we got the food, we didn't really see our server (the only server it seemed, despite us being 1/2 tables) until it was time for a to go box and the check.
This place is perfection. treat yourself now!
The King Soup with Tilapia rocked my world
Can’t miss the mango sticky rice. Best served over conversation with an emerging bestie.
Amazing food, wonderful servers

Great restaurant with good food all the around. Thanks for the great guest service.
Ordered the chicken satay, pad kee mao, tilapia lettuce wraps, and kings soup, and it was all fantastic. I've eaten a lot of Thai food and this did not disappoint. Surprisingly, the tilapia lettuce wraps stole the show, the fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce it comes with was so good. A small nitpick, but I wish I could have had the option to add more spice on both the soup and pad kee mao.
Most lovely spot. I love the coconut soup. Nice atmosphere… just lovely all around, Philly staple.
Another reviewer described the food as a "flavor bomb in [their] mouth" and I couldn't agree more. (Probably most aptly describes the wonton - oh man, so good.) Everything was excellent, down to the ambiance and the incredibly kind and friendly staff. Just a super warm and inviting space and the food will keep you coming back. Highly recommend the King's Soup, the flavor was amazing. Plus it's BYO so that's nice. Just go.
The Kings Soup is fit for a King.
I ate here on one of trips back from China. I thought the food was great and brought back wonderful memories from my trips to Laos. Would definitely eat there again.
Great food but be aware they only accept cash.
BYOB and cash only but good food if you can navigate those constraints. Love the sticky rice.

Really tasty food.
This place used to be really good but ever since the pandemic has become quite mediocre. The panaeng curry was always my go to, but past several times it's been thin and watery. Also tried their beef pad see ew recently and it was dry and chewy... It's one of the only thai options in the area so I'm hoping they can figure things out.
the bee's knees!
I had a great experience here. The kings soup was one of the best meals I've had in a while. Very flavorful and rich. I had it with tofu and added mushrooms. It was excellent.
The food is good here, but they don't accept cards, which was pretty annoying to me because I don't like using ATM. That's a $5 extra for ATM fees.
We love this place. So far, we have tried mostly everything that is seafood and vegetarian on the menu. Especially the shrimp steam dumplings are amazing.
Excellent experience and the food was on point!!!
Our waiter Lyle made spot on menu suggestions!
I stopped in by myself on a brutally hot summer evening looking for cold, light food. The vegetarian naam salad was over-the-top delicious. Crunchy and sweet/savory, served with crisp, fresh lettuce leaves for wrapping. Delightful on a hot night. Pad See Eew was a heavier dish, a little bland and pasty (corn starch?), and was better when I added lime and chili oil. The service was outstanding, the ambiance and air conditioning delightful. Definitely worth a visit.
Food was delicious, service was prompt, and I love a BYOB!
The FOODS in dis RESTAURANT it's SUCK BIG TIME .!!! When I would here for lunch by myself as a CHEF. I had a"" VERY BAD EXPERIENCE ...!!!
it's a first and a LAST Try out...!!
One of the best restaurants in Philly
Delicious food in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Beautiful wall hangings, especially if you resonate with elephants. Cash only and bring your own booze.
Family owned and delicious. Byob. Cash only but there's an ATM on site
Everything about this place was amazing. From service, food and decor. Our server sarina was very attentive and accommodating. Would def come back!
Excellent quality and tasty food; inattentive service. Don’t mind waiting for food in a busy restaurant, but a table touch, communication, and a drink refill goes a long way.
Walked in and was just overwhelmed with the aroma of this place. The service was outstanding and the Thai was probably the best in Philadelphia. Order the Vegetarian Naam Salad as soon as you sit down it was delicious. We also loved the green curry and the sweet basil. The restaurant is out of the way in west Philadelphia but gets filled up fast on weekends so plan ahead. Don’t miss this place!!!
Really delicious vegetarian and vegan options. Loved the coconut milk soup with shrimp!
Keep in mind that it's cash only, however they have an ATM inside. There's also a parking lot to the side of the building, but it's for multiple venues and gets a bit crowded on popular nights.
Clean kitchen, good food and staff is nice. Worth it
Highly recommend the Lao specialties here
Racist and disgraceful service. I dined here with my mom, and both of us are Black and out of all customers (all of which were white) where were given our check the earliest and never asked if we wanted dessert, unlike the table with two white women sitting behind us. This is why I left a $10 tip on an $80 bill. Never again would I come here.
Had a large bowl of shrimp tom yum..one bowl rice..can of Pepsi..$25 ..they don't accept cash ..only ATM that charges $3..soup wasn't authentic tasting .had better...not worth it!!
Update: 10-8-22 Very Similar experience to previous. Once again gave this spot, yet another try, after 2 years. Prices have dramatically increased, the menu online had one price, the server taking the order another + yet a different price (which was even higher) was on the receipt. The containers are smaller + it was waaaay too much additional oil. There's such this increase in prices, with such a drastic decrease in flavor, products + service, including simple things like providing napkins.
Returned to this spot after some time of previously dining here.
Prices have increased + portions have decreased, along with the higher level of customer service.
The soup + salad was consistent with flavor + memories of other experiences.
The entree was quite off. The sweet basil dish, which had been a cool experience previously, left a lot to be desired.
The sauce was more like a gravy + there was little basil coming through, loads of tofu + morsels of vegetables .
Quite the different experience.
It's never cool to assume a tip/gratuity.
It's appreciated for the server to clarify upon receiving payment.
This place was delicious. I tried the Laab and my partner got the pad kee mao. Both were delicious, will be back!
Great food, great service, options for all dietary restrictions. Minus one star because it’s pricey, even on my NYC income, but sometimes it’s worth splurging. Wish they’d bring back their outdoor seating!
Great tasting, interesting dishes. Our favourite: Naam salad with sour pork ($12+$3) - you make your own crispy rice wrap in a salad leaf. Crispy spring rolls and fishcakes as you'd expect (pretty boring). Sticky Tofu in Tamarind was good.
Inside not terribly atmospheric. Kitchen/service relatively slow but it was pretty busy (Thursday, end August).
Highly recommend the Lao sausages and fish casserole! So savory and fragrant, and the hot sauces that come with the sausages are delicious too
Veg Pho is Brilliant , the best that i have had !
Lotion for the soul
I had Pad Thai. It was very good, a generous amount of shrimps and crunchy vegetables with the noodles, well seasoned. It was a pleasure to eat. Highly recommended.
I don’t usually leave reviews like this but the food was basically inedible. The pad thai noodles were flavorless and the curry was watery and thin, it tasted like they mix their coconut milk with water or something. Avoid this place.
Went here visiting Philly. The food was good and it seemed to be populated with regulars, a good sign. However, they only took cash and when presented with two twenties for a $26 tab, was given twelve dollars back in the form of a ten and two singles. They couldn't break the ten into two fives, so I wound up paying a twelve dollar tip on a $26 tab. The service wasn't that good! If your business is cash, then you should be able to make change.
The place looks small from outside but it's kinda of spacious when you enter. They have a very different menu. We ordered Banh-xeo(tofu). Wonderful!! I do remember when they just to sell food from the backyard of their house...
Fabulous food and a nice, laid back ambience. Staff were super nice
Friendly staff and the food is always yummy. Cute little place if you choose to dine inside.
the tofu laab and banana tempura are very nice. green curry and aw lao were sweeter than I expected, but still good. the sticky rice served with savory dishes is not something I've had in SE Asian restaurants and was a lovely addition. wait staff were excellent and ambience is nice and unique. food is very pricey, so bring lots of cash (they are cash only).
I love this place so much. If you’re a vegetarian in West Philly this is the best restaurant you could go to for a varied and delicious meal. And if you’re not veg, it’s also really great. My favorites: Naam Salad, Sticky Tamarind Tofu, bahn xeo (yummy crepe appetizer), kings soup, mook casserole, Aw Lao. We always leave really satisfied and have never had to wait too long for our food.
My friends and I visited Vientiane last night, and I really enjoyed it. Great vegan options and delicious food. Note that they are cash only and byob.
Always good. Service is great. Food is great.
I'm glad they've reopened! I love the yellow curry with tofu.
Nice establishment. Good food
Great service, great price, nice atmosphere
Loved it!
I’ve eaten in person before and the food was great. However, I just ordered from Uber Eats and the food was bland, unseasoned and I was missing my sauce. It’s too expensive for the quality to be this bad.
Everything was very fresh and flavorful! I really enjoyed the curry rice with tofu, the pho with tofu, spring rolls with tofu, crispy spring rolls too! Service was kind and fast. Definitely looking forward to returning again!
Best King Soup!
I ordered the pad thai and the homemade sausages. First, the sausages were raw in the center and the sticky rice they came with had the consistency of a brick. The pad thai - if you can call it that - was a jumbled up mass of hardly cooked noodles that seemed like they'd only been seasoned with a ton of soy sauce. The egg, which says is part of the dish listed on the menu and is why I enjoy pad thai, was totally missing and the fried tofu I asked for wasn't fried if I could even find a piece at all. None of the components of the dish could be mixed together because the noodles were so stuck together. I would have asked for a refund, but I picked my food up fifteen minutes before they were closing. Totally disquesting and a complete waste of money. Unfortunately, a lot of restaurants seem to have declined dramatically during the pandemic.
Great soups!! Perfect for cold, rainy days
It's the fried shrimp 🍤for me...amongst other things.
Pretty good place. Quite overpriced, especially considering the (small, in my opinion) portion sizes that are offered
Nothing I wanted
LOVE this place! As an office we order from them frequently. The food is consistently great and the service is always friendly!
Super delicious 😋
Ordered from Uber eats. Order took over two hours to arrive. Food was absolutely not worth the price. Curry was watery, dumplings fell apart and were bland, fried tofu was totally bland and had no flavor, soul also had little flavor. The best tasting thing was the spring rolls but they had a barely detectable amount of pork. Overall, not worth the price and the wait.
It’s perhaps my favorite place in Philadelphia. All their food is great. I love their curries, particularly the panaeng. The drunken noodles are also really good. And the staff is really friendly.
Great food and people
Very Vegan Friendly! Easily the best bang for your buck asian restaurant in Philly. The food is full of authentic flavor and the portions are twice as big at comparable restaurants. I love their panang curry and their king soups. It's packed on friday nights for good reason.
The regional specials are what's good. The Thai food isn't bad, but not as good.
My daughter raved about the food and fortunately I listened! I had the Tom Yum soup with shrimp, it was amazing spicy and nuanced a must try. Also had their signature sausages also very good. This is a local restaurant that nerds to be supported.
This restaurant is small and have a personal, intimate feel to it. The food is a amazing! Every dish we tried except for the Beef Jerky was very tasteful🤗
I highly recommend you try the fish. If you're squeamish about having the head on the fish as my Friend was, just remove it and cover....
The sauce the fish was served with was absolutely delicious...we dip all the vegetables in it, very flavorful.
I will definitely return!!!
The food is delicious! It's my favorite in West Philly and should be a destination for adventurers from other neighborhoods.
The customer service, ambiance, and food are phenomenal. I felt all the happy joy joy feelings.. danced while I was eating, all that jazz.
Had the 'Angel shrimps' and 'Crispy duck spring rolls' as appetizers. The Pad Su Ew (wide noodles/shrimp) and Pad Thai (chicken/no carrots) for entrees. Warm rice pudding and banana tempura for dessert.
Every.single.item. was delicious. They got packed around 1830-1900 on a Saturday night--the wait would've been worth it, though.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere.
I come here frequently for curry or one of the Laotian specialty dishes. Highly recommend the sausages, aw lao, and most of all the coconut rice pudding. It's cash only but there is an ATM in the restaurant. The servers are friendly and attentive. It gets busy on weekend evenings but other times are less crowded.
This food is so good! Great spicy flavor to the dishes, and good portion size too.
Great. Glad I was recommended. Rice pudding not as I expected but much better!
Great food, great service, super chill ambiance and vibe. Worth the trip!
The food was amazing. Music was good.I'm a chef so I had high hopes they did not disappoint everything was fresh...the staff is friendly definitely coming back❤
Delicious food, and a nice atmosphere. Ordered the chicken pad thai. If spiciness isn't your thing, I would go with either level 1 or 2; 3 was just on the precipice of too spicy.
I absolutely loved my first visit here. It seemed like almost everything could be made vegan. The naam salad is like nothing I've had before and I know I will be craving it soon. Everything was delicious and I like the BYOB set up
Best Thai food in Philly. It has a small local vibe like a secret you’re in on. They have great vegan options and are always sweet. The Naam salad is the wildest best thing I’ve ever tasted. The Pad Kee Mao is a fav as well!
Delicious, fresh food. Great service. Nice vegetarian fare. Cash only.
Nice dinner selection at a discount price before 6:30
Delicious delicious food. I had the vegetarian dumplings and the vegetarian fried spring rolls and I loved them! Friend had laab and she loved that too. It's BYOB which is great!
Great food. A little pricey, but worth it for a special treat. I love their paenang curry
This was my first time at this restaurant. I was very impressed. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls and yellow curry - shrimp. I was shocked at how good the food was. This was some of the best curry I have had in a long time and I have ordered curry allot. Well done.
Awesome food. Very authentic. Cash only
Comfortable place
Good food
Long wait time for take out, but the food was delicious. A good amount of vegetarian options. I would definitely go back.
Not as good as I expected
Met a business associate there for lunch and I'm so glad I did!! 3 course lunch special with soup/salad, appetizer and entree. Vegetarian option starts at $12 and the shrimp tops pricing at $17...which is wildly affordable for a 3 course meal! No pics this time necause the food didn't survive long enough for its photo op...
Absolutely delicious! Amazing yellow curry!
Their yellow curry is okay. The King Soup amazing tho.
One of my favourite places to eat in Philly. Delicious food, great ambiance, friendly staff, and it’s BYOB! This place has a great back story too!
Excellent food and great lunch menu. Three courses for ~$14.
Quaint little quiet cafe with good food and service. Cash only
Amazing food, reasonable prices. Cash only and byob
The food was lacking flavor. Service was slow but friendly.
