Thai food cart
I ordered through Uber Eats. The food is very good! I got very mild and it was nicely spiced. My one complaint is the packaging for delivery curry. The driver wasn’t good and had the food on its side. The package allowed the curry to leak so I was left with just the chicken and veggies. Despite not having the curry sauce, it was delicious! Will order again but I’d suggest different packaging for the curry.
I have been going here for years and am convinced they have some of the best Thai food in Portland! Everything is delicious and they are always kind! Would recommend
This review is based solely on the pad see ew dish and fried spring rolls. The noodles were complete mush and had zero char to it. The flavor was leaning more on the fish sauce side instead of soy sauce. The egg rolls/ fried spring rolls were full of mush veggies. If you want pad see ew, order go from Paadee across the street. You can have it there or to go and eat it at the food carts
I love Thai food and have been trying many Thai restaurants and food carts in PDX. Tried this place twice now, months apart, and have found the quality consistently excellent.
This most recent try was chicken green curry, medium spice. Food was flavorful, spice level was not overwhelming, and the eggplant was perfectly cooked - not too hard, not too soft (this is a challenging feat, as other places have demonstrated to me). What was particularly impressive is that I snuck in right before closing, and despite the interruption to their end-of-day work, the food was this exemplary.
Only thing to note per the curry: the rice was in the same container as the curry. I ate right there, but if this dish is travelling, the rice may become soggy.
Last go was Pad Ki Mao, which was similarly within excellent tolerances - the noodles were not stuck together or too soft, which other places have disappointed with.
Seriously some of the best Thai food Portland has to offer!
Food was disappointing, unfortunately. Ordered green curry with tofu; eggplant was missing all together, but overall favor was good. I was really craving eggplant and picked this dish specifically because of this ingredient.
This is my second time coming to Ton Kao Thai. First timed I ordered pad Thai, with tofu and the sexy crab rolls. For dessert, I got the mango sticky rice. (Best I've ever had)
Everything was DELICIOUS!
It made me want to come back on my day off to try something else off of their menu. Today I got the avocado curry with tofu, and that was not a disappointment at all either. I am determined to come back and try every single thing on their menu. So delicious with huge portions, great prices, and friendly staff. ☺️

Amazing food cart off of 28th Ave
All four items we purchased were SO tasty. Have had a lot of Thai food over the years and this place rates high on the list. What a gem!
The soup was amazing! Very tasty

Low quality
Waited 45min and our one small order was still not ready. After 20 and 30 min, I asked about the order and he said he was working on it. Had to leave without eating. Poor service. He could have just communicated how long it would be, which would have given me time to find something else to eat.
This slice of heaven never misses with their fresh Thai dishes. My personal favorites: Sexy Crab Rolls (the best appetizer of all time), Pad Thai (best pad thai I’ve had in PDX), Drunken Noodles, Golden Rice, and any curry on the menu 🔥 so so so delicious, every time.
Great food, great crab, v spicy!
I choose to eat twice a week or more because food is consistently good. And that's that!
Staff wasn’t friendly and Thai iced tea was disgustingly sweet.
Great food and friendly staff
Pretty good mango and sticky rice
The pad khee mao is okay.

Love having the cart in the pod. Food is good and fresh. And there are lots of optons.
Love having the cart in the pod.
This is a food cart in the middle of a food cart pod. I was on my way to a Thai restaurant nearby when I decided to try Ton Kao.
I found the place to be "just okay". Here's why...
I ordered two dishes: Pad Prik Khing, and Pad Khi Mao.
My first issue is minor: there's no brown rice. So I had white rice with my pad prik. The pad prik was fairly good. I order it many other places and am picky. I would eat this one again. It was sufficiently spicy (which I requested.)
My biggest issue was with the pad khi mao. (First time I have seen that spelling of the dish, btw.) Its noodles were way to soft. Frankly, the noodles were over cooked or something. Not good noodles. The taste of the dish was pretty bland as well, and it wasn't nearly as spicy as the pad prik. (I ordered both dishes with the same spice level.)
My third issue is with the packaging... plastic. I hate hot food in plastic. This food was very hot. I don't mind plastic for a cool dish, but for hot food I prefer paper-based packaging or foil between the food and the dish.
Overall this isn't a bad place, but I would consider it average. I wouldn't mind having the pad prik again, but it won't be the first place I go when I have a choice.
