Thai food cart offering large portions of great food at a fair price. We are open late!
If you're in Portland and craving incredible Thai food, look no further than this gem of a food cart! My friends and I, visiting from Toronto, stumbled upon this place and it was easily the best decision we made on our trip. The service was outstanding, and the staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home. On our first night, we tried the Pad Thai and egg rolls, which were simply amazing. We also had their Thai iced tea, and it was great!
We were so impressed that we returned the next evening for more. This time, we had the fried rice and crab rolls, which were just as fantastic. If you’re in Portland, don't miss this food cart—you won’t regret it! 😊
Just ordered from here, and they get pretty busy, so I recommend calling ahead.
We got:
- Cashew Chicken
- Pad Thai
- Pad Kee Mao
- Champa Fried Rice
- Yellow Curry
Cashew Chicken: Decent flavor, but it was loaded with veggies and onions—perhaps too many.
Pad Thai: It tasted okay, but it lacked the authentic flavor, especially the depth that fish sauce typically adds. It was also a bit dry.
Pad Kee Mao: The flavor was fine, but the ratio of noodles to veggies was off. There was an abundance of veggies and onions, but very few noodles, though the tofu portion was generous.
Champa Fried Rice: Unfortunately, it was really soggy and not enjoyable. The soggy rice overwhelmed the dish. It seems the steamed rice was too dry and undercooked, so they might have added water to soften it, which just made the dish worse.
Yellow Curry: This was probably the only consistent dish, with a good balance of everything. It leans on the sweeter side.
Steamed Rice: Dry and undercooked, with lots of hard pieces. It wasn’t Jasmine rice—it tasted like long-grain white rice.
Although this is a Thai truck, and the dishes came close to taste like Thai flavors, there was something missing. We believe it’s the lack of fish sauce. The seared of the wok, the quality of ingredients.
The gentleman mentioned they don’t use fish sauce, which is unusual since Thai cuisine typically relies on it heavily. Maybe he meant they don't give out fish sauce?
Fortunately, we ate this at home and were able to mix in some chili oil and fish sauce to add more flavor. Without it, the food would have been quite bland.
Overall, I’m surprised by all the 5-star reviews. While the location is convenient and open late, several aspects need improvement, particularly in portion sizes, balance, and the quality of ingredients.
Loved their Pad Thai! If you like spicy, be warned, they don’t play around. I ordered my dish as spicy as they’d make it and it didn’t disappoint. The best part, it wasn’t hot just for the sake of being hot. Every bite was packed with flavor alongside a wicked chili zing. Will definitely be coming back for another round. Thank you!
Best pad thai I’ve ever had thus far! The Michelin guide one from TO pales in comparison! This pad thai had the perfect mix of flavors—the right amount of sourness, savoriness, and sweetness. It’s so, so good!! They have the most excellent customer service as well! We also enjoyed their veggie rolls, fried rice, crab puffs, egg rolls, and iced tea! Would love to return again! xoxo
This place used to be so so so good back in pre covid days to 2023. Now it does not taste the same! Portions have reduced, significantly less protein, & the taste is just not good anymore. Their fried rice used to have a nice unique flavor, but it’s much more toned down now and sweeter?
Only good thing is that they open late, but parking can be so tricky which is something that’s just so tiring to do.
Absolutely wonderful!! Ms Air, Ms Gope, and Mr. Sonn are always friendly, the service is top notch, and the flavor is out of this world! Portions are great too. If you like spicy try the Thai hot but be warned it's not dumbed down for the American pallet.
Tonight I got the musaman curry with chicken. I also highly recommend the pad see ewe.
Ms Air even made my dog a bowl to eat. They are the best restaurant in town! I love it!!
So happy I found this. It was so good
Hands down best orange tofu in town.😎
Awesome food cart. Great food!
I spent a couple months in SE Asia and this is the best Thai food I’ve had in the US. And open late and next to the clerb of you’re into that.

Absolutely top notch food. I haven't found thai food that can rival this in all of Portland.
So confusing to figure out hours and order.
Friendly and lovely people and holy shit WOW the Tom Kha was amazing!! I think it honestly might be the best I've ever had.
Great place.

Open late and serves decent food
Delicious food! Everything is fresh and flavorful.
The couple that owns this food truck are so nice! The food is also amazing at a very reasonable price.
Friendly. Delicious food. Great service.
Loved the pad see ew with chicken! The owners were also so nice to our dog and gave us a bit of a chicken. 10/10 would recommend!!
They got the ratio of noodles to veggies just right. Effing delicious 😋
A divine thai food experience.
Dishes typically taste great (I've gotten their Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao several times now).
However, their portion sizes have gotten smaller and they tend to load up the plates with a ton of cabbage and carrots. My most recent order of a pad kee mao was also verry heavy on the veggies and there wasn't enough noodle. Decent food, but hard to justify spending $15 when the portion sizes make the meal much lower value than even some of the nicer brick and mortar thai restaurants around town.
Their food is delicious

Very friendly couple who serve great food!
Could not be more nice for late night food
The best cashew chicken I have tried and really good pad thai. I wouldn't hesitate to order anything on the menu. The owners are very friendly too.
Don't be fooled. This tiny but mighty thai spot is a hidden treasure, perhaps the best thai food in all of Portland!

Great food and the people are super nice. They gave me a side of rice for free. I’ll definitely go back.
Tasty but the price ratio is just too high. The amount of meat they put in it is a joke
Best pad thai I’ve ever had! Everyone is very friendly there!!
Nice people. But I got green chicken curry and there was hardly any chicken in it.
Orange chicken had no meat in it; it was all batter. The green curry had food coloring. I can’t believe that this place has over 4stars.
YOU HAVE TO GET THE CRAB PUFFS!! some of the best i’ve ever had
This place is my go-to late night. They're so friendly, remember who you are, and their food is so good and the perfect spice that my partner and I crave. So easy to call and order and pick up. Especially love the pad kee mao and egg rolls.
Delicious Pad Thai, just a smaller portion than I'm used to at that price point, which is especially surprising considering it's a food truck. You only get half a clamshell, the rest has cabbage and carrots and a small egg roll.
Literally the best Thai I’ve ever had. The mango sticky rice & pad, Thai are out of this world. I got the very hot and it was perfect. We will come here every time we visit Portland !
It's been to long since I have returned to this special place. I left there feeling so happy and the memory persists. I must return. If you are reading this then don't hesitate to give them a try just stop reading this and place your order. 😉
Super delicious Thai cart open past midnight. I ordered the veggie pad kee mao (like drunken noodles). Came here on a Friday night/Sat at like ~1am. Smaller menu. My food was so satisfying and perfectly cooked. The owners working the cart were smiling friendly, overall highly recommend for a late night meal. Take out only vibes, no seating at their location
DEEEE LISH!! Took about half the time they said, and it was lava hot! Definitely gonna be my go to place when I'm in town, came to town for a concert, staying across the street.
Quantity not worth the price at all! Too less protein; over hyped
Their food is so good!
Such a great place food was amazing !!!! Like crunchy but good and the flavors OMG amazing
Food was fantastic, kindest staff ever as well. Will be the go to spot for my late night thai food cravings moving forward.
Amazing food. Hidden gem
Amazing staff, wonderful food. This is the only place that gave me legitimately spicy food my entire stay in Portland.
Seriously THE BEST Thai food around! Everything is always so fresh and the ingredients and taste of the dishes really stand out. The owner is so kind also!! Would definitely recommend any day!!! 😍
I have been going to Thai Champa consistently for 2yrs and I can confidently say that it is the best Thai food that I have ever had, hands down. My go to dishes are Penang Curry, and Pad Thai. As a side I typically get the Gyoza.
The owners are always kind and welcoming, the food is always made fresh, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. Another great thing is that they’re open later than most places!
I guarantee that you will not be disappointed, so stop by!
It’s a hidden gem in Portland late night food truck option. Curry fried rice is a must try here.
Champa is the champ. Thank you for being open past nine o clock. The joy of food at two in the morning should have it’s own james beard category, and in Portland you win hands down. If you ask for it spicy you better be ready because it really is Thai spicy
Arguably the best late night Asian food in the neighborhood, staff are charming.
Not sure if the hours changed, but went there on a Wednesday at 8 and they were closed.
The atmosphere and service was very friendly. We were greeted and welcomed right away. The food was so delicious!!! I like that you can choose your spice level. I highly recommend the pad Thai. Overall it’s a great place for comforting late night food and the friendliness of the staff make me want to return again
While the food still tastes good, I was very saddened to see different employees/owners. The food is not cooked the same as the previous chef. Likely won’t come back due to that chef not there.
Wow! Really good Pad Kee Mao!
This place is tha besssst 🔥👏👏💋
Unfortunately, my least favorite Pad Thai I’ve ever had. Barely any sauce- just noodles and spice.
Everything I get here is so fantastic. I usually eat the whole thing, and that is incredibly rare for me. Vegetables are really important to me- here they are fresh and/ or perfectly cooked, never mushy. I think it is the basic Thai food in PDX.
Some of the best Thai in Portland. Don't let the fact that it's a food cart fool you. Flavor is off the charts.
great food open till 3am Friday an sat
Best Thai food in town ❤️
Best Thai food I've had, and I've had a lot.
Tucked in an out-of-the-way corner, but definitely worth finding.
We stopped here late at night because we were staying at the Jupiter Hotel and when we were looking for dinner they were near by and open. We got the chicken fried rice and gyozas. The fried rice had incredible flavor and you get a LOT for the price! We loved the gyozas too! The people running the food truck were incredibly friendly. All in all happy with our experience here and definitely will be returning & recommending!
Best food from the best people at the best food cart in town.
I compare every thai food place I eat to this place! I have YET to eat any thai food that is better or even as good! They are amazing people here, so much love and appreciation goes into her cooking! I could go on and on...!
We live nearby so we come here A LOT. It’s our favourite little Thai food cart parked right behind a strip club. Don’t let that discourage you from trying this place out though! The food is delicious and made fresh every single time.
We always get our faves: Orange Chicken, Pad Kee Mao, Crab Wontons, and Green Curry! Every order comes with a spring roll, which I love. My partner and I keep saying we need to try other menu items but we’re creatures of habit and we love what we love.
Friendly owners who always try to give our dog carrots. Unfortunately our dog does not like rabbit food/veggies. The past two times we’ve been, they’ve offered our dog boiled chicken so now we (especially our dog) love them even more!! Our dog goes crazy for boiled chicken and we appreciate the fact that they not only make their human customers happy, but also dogs!
Hands down staple for great simple consistent delicious take out in the central east side. They cooking with love behind that strip club!!!
Best pad Thai I’ve ever had. Crab Rangoons are fabulous. This business is run by a very sweet family.
Best small town find by far, must stop in and try! Do not miss the opportunity!
I've visited Thai Champa twice now. Finding a good food after midnight can be a bit of a challenge. If you visit Thai Champa after midnight, especially on a weekend. There will be a bit of a wait but it's ohhhhh soooooo worth it!!!
This is real food, made fresh to order. Excellent quality, full of delicious spices and flavors!!! I really love the red curry w/medium 🌶
This little hidden cart is quite a treat. I recommend Thai Champa to my guests who are looking for delicious late night food. We have many noteworthy carts, but most close early.
If you're looking for fresh, delicious Thai food. Thai Champa is where it's at!!!
Found this little food truck by chance when visiting Portland ~1 year ago. Fast forward to just this last weekend and it was top of my list to try again. They open evenings around 6pm until 2am most every night except Sunday so I had to get my fix on Saturday night. I ordered the chicken pad thai - medium spice (again) and it was amazing. Great flavors, perfect ratio of noodles, chicken and sprouts/carrots. $15 currently. This time I also got mango sticky rice, which was good as well. To be fair, I have traveled around Thailand and also am fairly spoiled with quality Thai food in the Seattle area where I'm from. But the pad thai here is pushing toward my top spot ever.
The owners in the truck were also super nice, playful and seemed like they loved to be cooking great food and interacting with customers. Makes the food even better. I'll be a return customer every time I visit Portland and have spread the word to anyone I talk to when visiting. So definitely check them out!
I love it!!
Open late night. So it’s already winning! Food was good, the line can get long after the clubs let out. But worth it.
We got the Pad Kee Mao and the yellow curry and it was amazing! This is one of the best Thai places I’ve been to, and to top it off the free egg rolls were super crispy and delicious! The customer service was great too! since we were doing takeout we called ahead and the timing they gave us was spot on to when the food was ready
The second you put the pad thai noodles in your mouth, you know you've made a good decision. Omgosh, soooo delicious. PERFECTLY seasoned! The crab puffs were delicious, crispy with great flavor. It's not really my preference though. They use a lot of imitation crab, which i dislike. But i wouldn't lower a star for it, that's just taste preference. The owner and his wife are a true gem, she is just so beautiful. I love their chemistry, you can tell they love their business. Best Thai I've had in a while!
Literally one of a handful of things I miss about PDX. These people are so sweet, the food is fire, and how many times can you say some of the best Thai food you’ve ever had was from a cart in the parking lot of a strip club??? Unforgettable and tasty af.
Hands down the Best Thai cart there is!
Mango sticky rice!!!!!
And the fam that runs it is super cool.
Walked 30 minutes to get here. Got the Pad Kee Maw and was debating between the Crab things or Spring Rolls. Guy suggested the crab things. BUT, when I opened the crab things, there was a single spring roll that was waiting for me. It’s the little things in life. Thank you!!! Delicious food too - was more than worth the walk. A+++ highly recommend!!!!
Yeah the flavors are there, but i was shocked by the portion for the price, $15 for pad thai really hurts…
Good, quality food. Nice people
This place is bonkers good. Be aware it is a hot spot during the late night rush and waiting 25-45 minutes for them to knock out your meal is pretty normal at 2am so just plan on chilling out for a while. It’s completely worth it. I got the pad Thai… best in my life. I’ll definitely be back.
Every dish is fire, open late, and super kind folks. One of my favorite spots in the city
Go here!
Fill your belly with love!
Do it.
food is fantastic and the owners are incredibly sweet
Fantastic food cart. Talented staff that makes you feel at home. B side tavern allows outside food just nearby. This food cart pod/location felt especially safe 🤗
Delicious food and the best fried rice I have had in the city. Forever grateful that Champa is open late night - absolute life saver. Thank you.
10/10
A masterful work of art. Easily the best Thai in town. The wait when they’re busy is worth it!! Don’t mess with Chef Air, though.. she will make you pay if you get cocky with your heat request! Medium here can be hotter than most places “hot.” I’ve been coming here since they first opened and I have NEVER ordered ‘extra hot’ or ‘Thai hot.’ I wouldn’t dare- and I like the heat
My favorite Thai place in all of Portland. Definitely worth the wait.
So torn on this review because I love the food and usually the service but last night both the folks working there were clearly sick. Coughing, openly expressing to other customers that they’re sick… big surprise im now also sick. If you have to work while you’re not well, that’s awful… but atleast wear a mask and gloves or something. The delicious food wasn’t worth this
Very good food truck. It's open late. The food is good, the staff is friendly, and they have very good prices.
Outrageously good food.
Best Thai food I've ever had, no joke
So good ! And open late +++
Flavorful, good portions, and true to the spice levels! We appreciated how vegan friendly this cart is too!
I love this place.
Undisputed best Thai food in Portland. I always come back for more (but lately they don’t pick up the phone? Hope they are OK and business is just too much). I have to get my noodles mild and add spice myself because otherwise medium is too spicy for me!! Such a nice couple running the truck too!
Absolutely phenomenal food. I love this place
I’m so happy I got to see my friends at Thai Champa today! The yellow curry is always so good!!! I love to dip the crispy veggies egg rolls in the curry. Delicious food. I have been eating here for like 5 years it’s always been fantastic.
One of the best places out there!
Authentic Thai food except the Tom yum soup should be more sour and have lemon grass.
The greatest food truck family in the world. They could have their own TV show.
I love Thai food and this is the best I had since I visited Thailand. We got the pad see ewe, red curry, and green curry. Everything was delicious. The only thing that was mediocre were the free spring rolls that we got with our order. Can’t wait to try it again.
My experience was not at all what I expected based on the reviews. I think I got what I ordered but it kind of felt like they just threw a bunch of stuff together because it only somewhat matched the menu description. It was also the most flavorless Thai food I've ever had. I honestly almost tested myself for covid to make sure I wasn't losing my sense of taste. I kind of want to give it another chance because the rest of the reviews are really good. Maybe I just got them on an off day? Anyway, there's too much good Thai food in Portland to come back here.
Great food and vibe. Always friendly and fun to talk to! Parking is a bit challenging.
Great Red Curry! Mine was “hot” (heat level), so delicious:)
The crab puffs are to die for, everything is always so fresh and delicious. Don't miss out on this gem!
Such good food and they are SO friendly. Really a wonderful spot if you like thai food done wonderfully and a nice chat with the clerk.
It's been a while since I've found good Thai in Portland but this is it. Super flavorful, decent portions
Awesome food! Brought us back to thailand. Lots of food for the price.
MY FAVORITE Thai in Portland! I love the spicy Thom Kha soup with tofu!
My favorite Thai restaurant! Be careful with the spiciness level.
Delicious! A must for anyone staying at the Jupiter hotel. Flavorful and big portions. You’re making a mistake if you don’t get the crab puffs.
Thai food and open late night great food
Amazing Thai food, the pad kee mao was incredible
BEST THAI FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD. In the words of my best friend "this food tastes exactly like the delicious street food on the streets of Thailand". I live in Salem but will come back again and again!! The service was warm and friendly, the prices sooo good and the way the owners interact with their regulars made me feel even happier with my choice. Thank you again for the delicious meal!! 😊
Awesome food! Very authentic
12$ extra spicy Pad Thai was great so large portion delicious. When it is Bit cold outside you have to stay outside waiting but worth it. Call them to make your order before you go there cause normally you have to wait. Anyway love this place
Best Thai food in the world not just Portland. LEGIT THAI HARD STOP!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The people working are super friendly, and their pad thai is incredible!
Crab puffs are a MUST. The pad thai was delicious 😋. And the people/service was AMAZING. Sweet people. Keep supporting them! They (and the food) are worth it 😍
Lovely people. Lovely Food. Everything is around $7. I highly recommend. The couple that own the shop are cuties.
Edit: One pandemic and years later their food is now $10, but still amazing!
Amazing food amazing people can’t wait to come back
This place is the best!! I’m so sad they aren’t doing lunch anymore! 😭
It doesn’t get any better than this!! Such an amazing Thai street restaurant 😮💨 please come here if you are Thai food fanatic
I unexpectedly had what I think is the best pad Thai of my life at this spot. Friendly staff and delicious food!!
The nicest workers, tastiest Thai food, most reasonable prices. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
Wonderful people with wonderful food!! Highly recommended 🤩🤩🤩
This is the BEST Thai food around! The owners are amazing people and you can taste the love they put into the food they make! We've had Thai food all over Portland and this is the most flavorful, delicious Thai food you can get, hands down!
Oh man. My favorite place to get food from. Family owned and friendly people. Fresh ingredients and if you want it spicy, they will make it spicy!!! Crab puff are amazing along with the spring rolls! I highly recommend giving this place a try!
Been going here for years!! The food always great
So good, tons of vegetables and I loved the sauce.
Awesome people and awesome food!!
Great late night food option
I love Thai Champa!
Pad Thai is great, and the people working are super friendly! This is my new favorite takeout spot.
Amazing!!!!
Best Thai food I've ever had and very reasonable! These guys are the best!!
If you want fresh food straight out from the pan, this is it! They do take a little longer but it’s worth it. The couple are super personable and great to chat with. This will get take care of your Thai craving.
Absolutely love this place, amazing thai food, very good portions at a great price!
Secret best dinner!!!
Best foods ever! The customer service is even more amazing. We ordered the pad see ew and mussamun curry. To dieee for.
I love these guys. A great family owned business with very reasonable pricing. Delicious pad Thai & curries. A go-to spot for me
They are so nice and it was SO DELICIOUS HOLY COW. Perfect flavor profile.
Amazing spot, incredibly delicious food and friendly people. Medium spice is pretty spicy, but the perfect amount if you like it spicy
Good food !
