**Except a cpl appetizers, ALMOST total GLUTON FREE!!
We've been in business since 2014 and now have moved 4×!!! Our new location is 7316 N. Lombard we've been here since 2018 and we don't plan on moving again.
**We're open 7 days/week and open Holidays sometimes different hours!!!
**The food is excellent, but for the most part patience is required for the best of the best.
**Every dish is made right now, there is no premade food so please understand some dishes are SUPER FAST and some aren't, patience WILL make you HAPPY!
**I point this out because this is a 1.25 person operation Moon is the greatest but EVERYTHING is made to order and her husband has limitations physically...so she primarily runs the show and definitely is the boss!!!
5 stars. Tonight I had the seasonal white peach curry (red). It was delicious. The counter man suggested it, so thanks to you, sir. It had big chunks of tofu ( my protein choice) and a mildly sweet essence. The vegetables had been lightly pre-cooked, so they were superb, just a perfect combo of sweet and savory. Curry was about $17. It was a large portion. I would eat here again.
Our go-to place for Thai food in St. Johns—the food is fresh, well prepared, and tasty! Although we can't walk to it anymore, we're glad that Sila Thai was able to relocate after the closure of their former food pod on Ivanhoe St. Their new location on Lombard is close to other pods and many libation options. I hope they'll be around for years to come!
On the evening of 5-20-24 I witnessed the owner of this cart refuse to serve a biracial couple. She said twice, loud enough to hear from the tables nearby, “Cinnamon and sugar, I don’t like that.” The couple, reasonably stunned and angered, left the food cart pod entirely. Obviously, in light of this, I would not recommend supporting this Thai cart.
Additional response added here, in response to the business’s response: I witnessed an absolutely unacceptable event happen at Sila Thai. I do not know the couple that was turned away and refused service. I do not make any statements or conjectures of why this happened. I only am objectively reporting what I saw. As an aside, I have been going to this food cart regularly for years…since before it moved to the beer porch even. I previously did not have a problem with this cart or the people who run it. In fact, all of my personal interactions there were just fine. However, what I witnessed was absolutely unacceptable. The business responding with a veiled threat of “check myself before I wreck myself” and calling me a “white crusader” isn’t exactly a reasonable response. I saw what I saw, reported objectively what I saw, I didn’t make any conjectures, didn’t call anyone names. I spent hours deciding if and how to respond to what I saw. The bottom line: What I witnessed was absolutely unacceptable.
Thank you Moon!
For the excellent service, extraordinary food, endless work, & your unbreakable spirit.
You are an inspiration to me & I am forever grateful.
On behalf of every impatient customer,
& all the people who have recently spoken about you, instead of making an effort to speak with you - I sincerely apologize.
It is an honor to serve this community by your side.
I really should stop by this food court more often! Tucked away in one of the corners of the St. Johns Food Carts is Sila Thai. Moon, owner and operator, is always friendly. I enjoy chatting and catching up with her. The food is always excellent and as good as anything I've had in a brick and mortar restaurant in Portland. Three of my favorite dishes are the Sweet Basil Stir Fry, Spicy Fried Rice and Yellow Curry, but pretty much everything served here is full of flavor! I typically have ordered here when it's not super busy, and the dishes have always been ready in ten minutes or less.
Definitely stop by and give this food cart a try if you're in the area!

My first time eating here. I was looking for good Thai food, and it was suggested by Google. Good food, reasonable price and nice setup.
This place is incredible. The best pad see ew in town and it's not even close.
Literally ruined other pad see ew for me.
Amazing flavor every time!
Really nice Lady so feel bad but here goes. I ordered the basil fried rice. It tastes like it never made it into a wok, wet and almost like a pilaf. Fried rice isn’t supposed to taste like this. The chicken had less than zero flavor and was rubbery. I had a bad experience at this cart a loooong time ago so I thought I would give it one more try. No third try, sorry.
Awful atmosphere at the food carts as well.
Amazing Thai Food n
Food is always excellent! Love everything about the food and the people. Highly recommend!

I ordered the chicken satay from Sila Thai. What a treat! Moon offered me a variety of sauces, she was accommodating, and the food was ready in exactly 15-min. I’m writing this review with a full stomach and the taste of peanut butter sauce still in my mouth. Thanks for the delicious dinner, Moon!
Best Chicken Curry ever
Good local Thai spot with very kind people running it. We had the Panang curry, pad Thai, spring rolls, and mango sticky rice. The portions are very nicely sized and the mango sticky rice was to die for!
Amazing authentic Thai food
Been coming here since I moved to St John’s over a year ago. I would highly recommend them.
Absolutely the best ever!!! I didn’t leave a big enough tip… will make up for it next visit!!! Thank you!!
This has been my go-to thai place since moving here a few months ago, but I'm done. I am a trans woman who can't always have a perfectly feminine voice and they have consistently misgendered me almost every time I've gone there. I've been in full makeup, a dress, and using proper voice technique and been called he. Tonight, they ended up giving my food to someone else while I waited by the cart in 41 degree weather for over 20 minutes. When I approached to ask about my order, I was again misgendered. I said "I'm not a he" emphatically twice and was still being called he. At that point I walked away because the service has been so bad that the food is not worth it. I'm done with Sila Thai.
We got the red curry, Pad Thai and tom kha soup. Everything was too sweet, and a little too salty as well. Flavors were simple, not the complex array I expect from good thai. By the end of the meal we were both feeling ill. We’ve eaten really good Thai many times, and this did not meet our expectations. Maybe it was because we were the last order of the night (8pm), or maybe not, but it would take a lot of convincing for us to go back. Too bad, because it is the closest Thai place to our house, and we really love Thai food!
My favorite Thai food in Portland!
Nice couple running the cart. Super busy on Saturday evening. After a 45 minutes wait, finally got the food. Taste is OK but everything else was off. Really chewy meat (literally inedible), soggy veggies and worst yet, ordered white rice and got brown rice. We live 3 minutes away and by the time we got home, rice tasted like congee....
Truly incredible. Get it before they're famous.
Best Thai in Portland, possibly the world
Incredible food; come back often for the rotating specials!!!!
Small friendly Thai restaurant with excellent food and excellent quality. Have to eat outside over Covid concerns. Will eat here again and would recommend.
The pinnacle of Thai food. Everything I have had has been incredible. And cheap. Strongly recommend the Thai fried rice (Thai spicy if you can handle it), the salad rolls are $3.50 (EDIT: They are $5.00) and the size of small burritos, and the Thai ice tea is her own recipe and delicious. This has become my go to Thai place. Made complete by the quirky and kind personalities of the owners.
Nice place, friendly staff. There was a small issue with my orange chicken being a bit tough and the batter not sticking to the chicken, but not a big deal considering the speed of the service.
UPDATE: Sila and/or Moon, I don't live in Portland. I was visiting St Johns at the time. Next time I'm there, I'd love to visit your cart again! Not sure how to contact you, so I'm updating this post to let you know I received your reply. :)
Food is good but costumer service really leaves a lot to be desired, guy was rude and all over the place on the phone but apologized later. Told us 40 minutes and it took an hour and he wasn’t even there when I husband showed up and the cook couldn’t help because he didn’t take my name (I asked if he wanted my name for the order and he told me no)
Great food! Curry is so creamy.
Had Phad Ki Mao. While they did the spicey(super spicey) level I like however the dish had an after taste like a tide pool kind of fishy. Would not recommend this dish here. Maybe they stored the wide noodles next to some fish. Phad Thai seemed OK but a little too flavorful for the 5 year old.
Super good food. Generous portions! Nice owners. Go check them out!
everything I've even gotten here is delicious! the couple that runs this food cart are very sweet and make everything fresh. the mango sticky rice is the best I've had out of the entire portland metro area!
been ordering from Sila Thai for 4 years and the quality has remained consistently delicious. if you crave tasty pad ki mao, tom ka, and/or pad see ew, this is your spot. those are the things i order here consistently.
You gave us the wrong order. We paid for a pork and mango stir fry and noodles, as well as spring rolls. And got two curries. And didn't realize it until we were already across town. Bad customer serivce
So amazing and yummy. Great vegan options!!!!!
AMAZING! Best Thai Food in Portland!
Came here for the first time tonight and WOW this place is delicious!
I’m not sure if their Pad Thai is normally gluten free or not but it was the best gluten free Pad Thai I’ve ever had!! I’m SOO happy to have came here as we now have a reliably delicious neighborhood spot! We got the white peach curry as well and it was amazing!
I’m gonna go ahead and say this is the most authentic Thai food in Portland!! I’ve been. To Thailand and this is the closest I’ve had. Everything is delicious!
my first time eating from here and it was really really good, way better than i expected. good prices for some very good food. some o the best thai food in all of portland!
Best Thai restaurant in all the land
Our go-to place for Thai food in St. Johns—the food is fresh, well prepared, and tasty! I had catering from Sila thai for my sister's baby shower. Food was so good and plenty of food. So much was left over. They made more than enough for people. People lived the food. I recommend them any parties. I ordered chicken pad thai, chicken fried rice and chicken pumpkin stir fry. Definitely recommended.
Hands down best Thai in all of Portland, family run (they are super nice also! Big plus ) food truck in St. John’s that is fresher then fresh (Have to try the crab wonton, fried right on the spot) and so yummy that it fixes bad days all together and makes good ones even better!
This is our (My wife and I.) regular place for thai teas. The lady that runs this place makes the best thai tea.
Best Thai in St. John's! The Mandarin Curry is excellent!
The best Thai food in North Portland made by friendly people
This is restaurant quality Thai. Fresh seasonal ingredients. Many options.
Specials reflect Sila's dedication to freshness.
Mango sticky rice dessert will definitely satisfy your sweettooth.
I will definitely be coming back ASAP.
Thanks for what you do.
This is our favorite Thai food in the neighborhood. Always great food, and they'll make it Thai hot if you ask :-). Grab a beer next door at the super friendly tap house.
This was my first thai experience, it was beautifully flavored and colored, the woman was very generous with the veggies and chicken we got. It was a huge meal between me and my bestest friend in the whole world, for a really great price. Awesome!!! Took her for her birthday and she loved it, she got the salad wraps and curry stuff and I got some mango fried rice and curry stuff too and we shared all of it, and had soooo much left over to take home for later and tomorrow as well
Their pad see ew IS EVERYTHING very yummy and moon is the loveliest 💕💕💕💕💕
Amazing!!!! The sweetest lady run the food cart & is so so lovely. The food is authentic & delicious!!
Oh par with my favorite Thai place in Portland. I had the yellow curry with tofu. It’s always a pleasure to find a restaurant that prepares tofu correctly. Not as good as Cha Ba Thai, but similar.
I will be returning!
(FYI I was v disappointed in my meals at Thai Cottave and Drunken Noodle so I’d pick Sila Thai way way over those)
Best Red Curry Ever! This is now my go to place for Thai Red Curry - I usually get Tofu and their brown rice is great too - not weird and sweet like some places. I don't know what she does but it is perfectly spiced - they never ask how hot I want it - its just perfection.
Excellent Thai food! Moon consistently servers fresh, delicious, hearty portions. She has a standard, comprehensive menu, but also offers yummy specials based on seasonal ingredients and/or customer requests. Highly recommend!
Looooots of food. For 10 bucks. Thai iced tea was good but a bit too creamy. Next time I will ask for less. All good definitely going back.
Very nice people
DELICIOUS
SO. GOOD.
my favorite thai food in St. Johns
Yummmy!
DEEEEE-LISH !! Holy smokes, you looking for a hardy, affordable and very fresh meal ? If you're reading this then you don't need to look anymore. This place has THE BEST pad see ew I've ever had. (I get chicken & tofu $1 extra but SOOOO worth it) they're super fast, friendly and did I mention super affordable ? With a Thai tea (A MUST HAVE !!) **Pro tip, ask for no milk and add lime, just thank me later** it's a amazing break in the middle of a hard days work. It's around $14-15 for my meal, extra tofu, a Thai tea, plus a well deserved 20% tip. You find me a better deal and meal then this and you're probably at some street food cart in the middle of Thailand. 5 stars doesn't reflect how I feel about this place and after your first bite and first sip of Thai tea, you'll know exactly how and why I feel the way I do !
Keep up the amazing work and the awesome food !
Great food.
Delicious
Excellent food and very nice owners. Neighborhood gem!
Best Thai food cart in Portland
The surivors of I Like Thai cart doing their own Thai thing. Be ready for puns
Delicious, made to order, food!! The Panang salmon is great! Highly recommend Sila Thai!
Decent cart and nice owners
Very fresh and delicious.
Don't even.
Great thai food and very friendly. Even the kids loved it!
Best Thai food in (at least) N Portland! Always quick, happy to do vegetarian or vegan, super nice, and absolutely delicious. Their curries and soups are my faves but they've never made me anything less than amazing.
The food here is amazing - some of the best Thai food I've had anywhere in Portland.
Fantastic service, huge portions, super fresh, and delicious!
