Casual eatery providing Thai staples, daily specials, cocktails, happy hour & a gluten-free menu.
Buyer beware - the management has recently change and it is noticeable in the food quality. My family use to order from here once a week. Suddenly are food tastes different, smaller portions and water down sauces. The final nail in the coffin, my husband got food poisoning from their pad thai. We will not be returning.
While visiting my daughter I asked to go to the best Thai joint. We ended up here and I wasn't disappointed! The food was extraordinary and delicious. They have vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and pretty much anything else. Staff is very attentive and polite. Place is very clean and has a variety of seating options for singles to large groups. I like the fact that there are lots of windows. The Flaming beef I had was so good there was none left over. If I end up visiting Portland again I will definitely come back!
We ate here recently and it was fantastic! The server was very very kind. The fresh rolls and peanut sauce were excellent definitely the best we have had in a long time. We had the pad kee mao and hot basil fried rice it had a great smoky flavor with just enough heat. We absolutely loved it and this is now our go to Thai restaurant in north Portland
This is my go to place for Thai food it’s always fresh. With a good presentation. I usually order Togo. Their lemongrass chicken with peanut sauce is really good and never disappoints. My other favorite is their chicken Pad Thai. Make sure you squeeze the lime onto it; the flavor is really enhanced by it.
I have eaten here frequently for years. It is my go too place. The peanut sauce, the fresh salad rolls with shrimp, or chicken, and the wings were my go to meals. Sometimes I try a curry, or a stir fry. It has all been so good . Couple weeks ago I got my usual order and the peanut sauce was watery. The chicken wings didn't taste the same, not bad, but not good either. I thought it was a bad day for them in the kitchen. Today I ordered again, and I got my usual. Well the chicken in the roll was too thick, and flavorless. The peanut sauce, if can call it that, was so thin and watery. I could not taste any peanut, just souper spicy liquid with a hint of peanut butter. The chicken wings were dry and flavorless, except they too were way too spicy, I am talking about heat. I like a little heat to give the food some umph, but that was the only flavor. After all these years of going there for my thai food, I am now going to find a new place. Too bad and I'm sad about it. Maybe they got a new chef? I'll be going elsewhere next time. Bye Mee Dee Thai cusine, you used to be good, I will miss you.
Accessibility: no steps needed, I think the walkway is wheelchair friendly
Staff: very friendly
Outdoor dining: no
I got the chicken satay, khoa soi (chicken), and crab fried rice.
The chicken satay was good. The peanut sauce was super thick. The khoa soi curry was flavorful (I got a level 2 out of 4 spice) but the chicken itself wasn’t seasoned at all and unfortunately the flavors of the curry didn’t sink into it.
The crab fried rice was very flavorful. I would recommend getting it. It’s also a large dish, definitely a sharing plate. There were a few small crab shells in the dish though.

Suddenly are food tastes different, smaller portions and water down sauces. The final nail in the coffin, my husband got food poisoning from their pad thai. We will not be returning.
Our chicken pad Thai was awful. I ordered two and threw them both in the garbage. No flavor at all and very dry.

Portion good, flavorles

Authentic Thai food at a good price. And they have Boba.

The best Thai! I love the Thai sausage fried rice and the boba. Highly recommend.
We had a group with verious food allergies and we were all easily accommodated, our pickup order was ready on time and the food was delicious!
The best place in North Portland to get Thai Food! The service is great, and they have a mix of modern and traditional decor that keeps it interesting.
This place had some really great food
Best Thai food in Portland and perhaps the west coast...their pad thai is the best I've ever had and the ground chicken with basil is excellent!..great service as well!...been there recently and it went downhill..must have new owners or something drastically has changed...it doesn't taste good anymore..so disregard my earlier review!!
Great food great staff highly recommend the Khao soi
I love the food at this place! My recent experience with their customer service left very little to be desired. After a botched order which we've ordered numerous times before and it's been the same every time, I decided to contact the restaraunt mentioning we needed to fix an issue with the order through Grubhub, and we had already had been refunded. However, upon mentioning this the person on the phone stated he was too busy to speak with me, and promptly hung up on me. I called back, stating I was intending on ordering and picking up directly from them, which they could have learned if they hadn't hung up on me rudely like they did. I mentioned I was no longer interested in ordering and hung up in turn. They called back, stating they thought I was a Grubhub Marketer, to which I replied I am a customer who will no longer frequent their restaurant and to not call me again. I gave two stars as their food is really good, but in this case the order was completely wrong (Pad Cashew Nuts, no onions, more veggies, extra cashews, extra chicken, and hot). Instead what we received was a mushroom- and onion-laden dish with no cashews, in which this dish never had mushrooms before.
Food is usually good but if you order delivery be extremely careful! When placing my order they got it completely wrong and forgot to add the rice that comes with the order... I don't like mushroom so we always order with no mushrooms and usually get the pad cashew nut with extra cashews and vegetables... When we received the order it came with mushrooms and no nuts... My husband calls to try and place the correct order and tries to explain the situation the man who answered... But the man blew him off saying "I'm to busy right now" and hangs up on my husband! Husband tries to call back and keeps getting interrupted... It was extremely rude and bad business/customer service behavior
This is some of the best Thai food in Portland. Surprisingly cute interior considering it’s in a little strip mal! Amazing food, big portions and very fresh veggies. 10/10
The yellow curry here is my go to comfort food.
Great food!!
I think the soups are amazing, and I love that I can replace egg noodles with rice noodles.
Fantastic, fresh, vibrant, and oh so tasty.
I found this place because they serve
Khao Soi (aka, Chiang Mai Noodle), which is hard to find. They did a great job, and I’ll definitely be back for more when I’m in Portland.
No frills Thai spot. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp and yellow curry!
Best food in Northportland that you can find.
I have frequented her A LOT since moving here 4 years ago. The food is AMAZING and I've never been let down by that. However if you're looking for good service while you eat, it's not here, it's subpar. Just know that going into it and take in the for or just order Togo or delivery.
I keep reading reviews on how fast the service is but my daughters waited 25 minutes for their boba order to be taken!
It's hard to believe you can mess up Pad Thai so badly. It tasted as though the sauce was made from Sweet and Sour sauce packets. The vegetables were both over and undercooked and sodden with moisture. It's such a bummer since we live close to this location. The people are super nice, but the food is unbearable.
I am so grateful that this restaurant makes ordering your food gluten-free, and accommodating dietary restrictions SO EASY. It’s so hard to find a place to dine out/get take out now that I have to baby my guts, but they have it built in to their website! When you go to place your order, you can select “GLUTEN FREE” in the same way you would pick your choice of protein or add extra veg.
In the “special instructions” area you can politely request “not spicy” if you need to, or ask to exclude or swap certain veg that may be trigger foods for you.
I went with Mixed Veg stir fry, and a mango coconut rice for after.
The portions are excellent, and save me the hassle of meal planning lunch the next day.
The coconut rice is cooked perfectly and they’re not stingy with the mango. The sauce is just right, not too salty or sweet.
Cute place. Average food.
These guys serve very tasty Thai cuisine. The $12 lunch special (11 AM-3 PM weekdays) is a great deal for a tummy-filling meal. Pad Prik Ginger Pork is my favorite, and my son enjoys their vegetarian offerings. Affordable and delicious!
Great Tom Yum (perfectly citrusy) and super kind server. Calm set back vibe inside, too.
We were a party of 4, we were served only 2 meals. Waited 5 minutes for the other 2 meals was delivered. The food was nothing like its supposed to taste. The server was there to just take the orders. I had the pan see wa, ordered the beef and it was so small pieces and all dried out. Could not finish eating it.
It's so good just perfect we ordered drunken noodles and spices chicken dishes including mango sweet sticky rice also one of Thai ice tea and one of Thai ice coffee we recommend for anyone who is looking for a healthy good diet and reasonable price good care of service and there are deliver come and try,,
I love their hot basil stir fry! Great bubbly tea drinks too. Always happy I came!
This place is a hidden jewel 💎
I’ve gone back to this spot again and again over the years! They aren’t the kind of place where even the mild is spicy, so I would say it’s safe for Thai food beginners. They are the kind of place that will still make yakisoba kee mao even though it’s not listed on the menu anymore. 🙏🏼💜
I recently got a big order for family dinner and *everyone* enjoyed their food. 5 stars because I consistently have a good experience there, takeout or dining in, lunch or dinner.
Excellent service. Very informative and patient. Delicious.
Great food!
I have high standards for Thai food because I spend a couple weeks a year in Thailand. This place has decent fried rice, curry and good spring rolls. Other items I've ordered have been hit or miss but, its a good option for Thai in the neighborhood. Not many places meet my expectations for what I consider great, but this place is pretty good. I will keep going back.
My go-to take out spot. Pretty much always get pad see ew, but the other dishes I've had are good too. The woman who manages the take out/cashier is super friendly.
Thai food is one of the best cuisines on the planet because it concentrates on simplicity, freshness, and mouthwatering flavors. Mee Dee does a superb job of all that and more. Their Pad Thai and curries are among the best I've ever had. The people at the counter are always pleasant and welcoming (I have only had the takeout). You will really enjoy MeeDee Thai Cuisine!
Very authentic Thai food in Portland. Had basil chicken and Tom yum - both really tasty and spicy enough. Staff very polite and courteous. A great place to go if you have cravings for Thai cuisine.
Staff has always been really nice, polite, and pleasant to deal with. I had their Pork Pad Thai and it is some of the best food I have had in Portland.
I’ve tried a lot of Thai places and this one is the best. They’re always willing to make things vegan and it still tastes good
We love the food and they have many flavors of boba too!
Not making much of an effort
Love this place, highly recommend.
Great food. Strange they still use disposable plates and utensils
Food is great, but took an hour for food to come out. One time there took 15 mins before host to sit us. So we went to Mio sushi next door. Maybe should order to go only?
I absolutely love this place! I have been going here for over ten years now and I never get tired of it! If you are doing the OMAD Keto, you can have the chicken satay and also the Meedee's wings for your one meal. There is never a wait and the service is always great!
Delicious, flavorful pad Thai and curry. Yum!
This was my to go place when I lived in Portland recommend 100%.
Food was good but not spectacular. Server was nice.
As far as we could tell one person is the entire wait staff. Handles take out as well. I think the kitchen was low on staff too.
This means it was 15+ minutes before ordering. An hour+ before food. Appetizer showed about 1.5 hours.
This was with only 3 tables (incl. us) dining in.
Not mad at them. But not going back.
If you're local, get takeout. I'm guessing that works better.
They might consider take out only, it's better to not at all, than to do badly.
Pretty good place for Thai food.
Nice people and yummy food!
Worst dinner out I’ve had in a long time. We arrived around 5pm waited to be seated. After being given menus we were abandoned for a very long time. The place only had one other patron finishing his meal so it wasn’t busy at all. The place was cold and with no music or chatter it was completely silent, the ambiance was that of an abandoned building. Another group was seated and we were finally allowed to order. Begin another endless wait.
I didn’t check my watch so I can’t tell you how long the wait was but I can tell you I’ve almost never had to wait as long even at the most busy restaurants. When the server finally made an appearance they served the group that arrived significantly AFTER we did.
When we were finally server to my dismay it was all on disposable service items. Everything was paper or plastic, the cups, bowls, plates, cutlery. This is during covid but also at a point when basically every other restaurant I’d been to from the nicer end down to the cheap eats was not doing this sort of a thing. I can’t tell you how unpleasantly cheap it feels to invite someone to join you for dinner to be served with paper and plastic!
The portions were small. This was my first time eating at this place so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Though the food was good I certainly won’t be going back.
We were served one large paper bowl of soup that we had said we were sharing. The server never returned and rather than wait again I went in search of the server. I stood in the kitchen door until I was noticed and asked for bowls which I was given.
We finished our meal and began another endless wait for service. We waited and waited, with no indication that anyone would ever return. At this point I was frustrated and impatient for the experience to end. I again approached the kitchen door and asked for the check. I tipped poorly which was out of the usual but more generous than was deserved under the circumstances and left a not on the back of the receipt explaining the reason for the poor tip.
Perspective: people with takeout orders filtered in and out of the front of the restaurant continuously while we were abandoned in the dining room. If you only ever order takeout from this place I’m sure your experience will be different. If you are trying to have a nice dinner with a guest you invited - look elsewhere.
We just moved down the street and I'm happy to say that I will gladly be coming back.
Lots of veggies, fresh and balanced flavors. We sampled a few appetizers and main dishes and loved them all. Great variety of boba with or without tea or dairy for our vegan friends.
There were a few small crab shells in the dish though.
live right around the block from this place its the best. super quick service and always the friendliest interactions. amazing thai food
Really tasty food, particularly good pad see ew.
Food was good. But Clean your restaurant please. I found something that should never be in food. I will not post the pic for the sake of their business. Please check your food before you eat it.
Delicious, ordering was simple, pick-up was easy, customer service was great!
I went there because it was close to work. I ordered pad Thai spicy 🔥 it was not spicy Lady was in a hurry because they were going to close in 30 minutes I asked for hot sauce and she gave me one I asked for another she said already in there I said ok.
If your vegan try another place. There's no guarantees you'll get something that's vegan even if they tell you that.I should have left when the lady was hesitant don't be trusting like I was.I'm literally sick from it. 🤢
I had the red curry and it was really good. Their Thai tea was good too
Our favorite pad thai!!!!! Owner is super sweet and service was amazing. Highly recommended!
Like another reviewer mentioned, I wasn’t expecting much. Even with the good reviews, I’ve learned over the years to take those 4 and 5 stars with a heavy grain of salt because they tend to be deceiving. However, with Mee Dee, the food we’ve ordered has been fantastic. So far we’ve only tried the green curry, cashew chicken, chicken larb salad, and chicken satay.
We always order our meals spicy or extra spicy, and they definitely deliver on the heat. Luckily they’re one of few restaurants in Portland that don’t sacrifice flavor when adding heat to a meal. The peanut sauce is also delicious, not too sweet, not bland, good consistency and flavor. Also, the amount of food for the price is proportionate as the quantity of food is filling.
The veggies also are tender while still retaining some fresh crunch to them. Overall their food is incredible, and when ordered for delivery the food arrives delicious and hot. Same for pick up, food was ready on arrival, and piping hot. I highly recommend you give this place a try, as it’s so delicious and satisfying!
Try it you'll love it
Solid Thai food, good portions, receptive to vegan requests. Can’t go wrong with any classics like pad kee mao, fried rice, curry, etc. Strong drink selection too.
I always get food from there the Pad Thai but this time I had plastic in my food with noodles
Best Thai food in Northwest Portland.
A little on the pricey side but delicious!
Didn't expecting much at first, ordered here mainly so I can make a "mee dee-ocre food" joke but honestly, the food here's pretty good and the prices are fair
The Khao Soy is like Thai-style ramen, using curry instead of ramen broth. Super tasty!
Chicken Pad thai is very good. Always ask for the tofu veggies roll sticky mango only during mango season in Thailand
I'm pretty sensitive to gluten, I have never been officially diagnosed with celiac but my doctor asked me to avoid it. I am not bothered at most places with a gf menu and I choose carefully. I really enjoy the food here and it's close to my house but MAN I get sick every time I eat here. I want to be a coincidence but at this point it's not. I don't expect a restaurant to be perfect but man... just don't do it if you have allergies just avoid this place.
Delightful variety of options such as catfish and duck breast. Everything I've tried here over the years hits the spot.
Mee Dee was delicious! I loved the panang curry and the pad kee mao. Good veggies in the noodles. The portions are large. I got medium level spice but next time would go up a level because I like spicy and medium wasn’t enough. The Thai iced tea was yummy and large. This may be my new go-to for Thai!
I live mee dee thai they have a great selection, warm & kind staff. The food is always fabulous great prices I'm never ever dissapointed.
Super friendly service, I like the food history on the walls, but so-so food. This is based on 3-4 orders in the past year or so.
Always fresh food and good service. Thanks MeeDee for being close to home.
Nice place great service and a friendly little place to have a meal with a someone special or just to treat yourself. Excellent food good portions good price.
Delicious, excellent selection
Very good service and delicious food!
Good food . Good service. Love it it there
Beef noodle soup is fantastic!
Meh
Amazing Thai food and reasonably priced. I love how you can choose veg/meat option for all the curry dishes. Huge portions too. Smiley service which is always nice :)
Coconut curry... yummy
Great food and fast service. We tried the pad Thai and yakasoba, tasted great.
Great place and service! It's a weekly stop for us.
Great food and service.
Great spot for comfort Thai Food quick and friendly always on point. Love these guys!
The best avocado summer rolls.
Service was awful, everything rushed and brought out at one time covering the table so there was no room to eat, please bring the appetizer first then the main course. Food was bland and flavorless, definitely not like any Thai restaurant I've ever been in, and definitely not like anything I've eaten in Thailand when I've visited there. The only thing this place has going for it is its location so maybe my family hit it on a off night when the servers wanted to be somewhere else and the cook didn't feel like being there but we won't be back.
Super great service and delicious authentic thai food at a very reasonable price. The dining area is clean, spacious and decorated nicely. The menu has so many great options for everyone's taste and is extremely vegan friendly!
Great place for Thai food
We've been there so often that we've tried almost everything and it's all great, well except for the green papaya salad, but I suspect they do it right, which is what I told the waitress. But she insisted on comping it since I couldn't bring myself to eat more than a couple bites. Good indication of what a great place this is and how accommodating the staff is.
Good place with reasonable prices. Good vegan and vegetarian options.
This place was great, the food came out so fast and in excellent portions. My new favorite in Portland!
Inexpensive, clean, basic Thai food with a wide enough variety for everyday eating.
Super Thai restaurant great location on the way to the Rose quarter
Had driven by here a zillion times I finally decided to try this place. I was not impressed. First, their phones were not working properly so I could not call in my order ahead of time. The services, although very quick, was most unfriendly. The Pad Thai seemed pastier than it should have been and there was little in the way of presentation; the go-container was most un-environmental. Definitely will not go back again...I'll wait until I am back in my own neighborhood to satisfy my Thai food craving at Im Jai Thai!
Really good curries--spiced to order, erring on the milder side if you don't specify. Yellow curry was sweet without being syrupy and at a perfect amount of spiciness for me. Portions are generous, and service on a Saturday was very polite and fast. We walked two miles to get there, and it was worth every step.
Love the food and nice place to go with friends and family
Best thai food in town and the wait staff is really friendly and helpful thank you guys
Hate to say it but I found a roach while enjoying their soup. Suddenly there is no more enjoyment in what once was super delicious. "How many roaches did I eat?" Crosses my mind.
I love the food here but consistently get overcharged. I always order the same thing, always go for lunch, prices charged to my card vary a lot. When I point it out to the server they always say I ordered something similar (but more expensive). They have never offered to correct the bill. Now I only pay cash and always point to what I am getting on the menu.
Excellent service! The food came out very quickly and was steaming hot and delicious. Very casual atmosphere, not too upscale, very comfortable. I will definitely be back for more!
Love them
Average Thai food at best. The papaya salad dressing was way, way too sweet to the point of being coy. Grilled chicken salad was just OK. There are plenty of places around Portland - including food trucks that serve better Thai. Price was OK but could not overcome the mediocre food.
Very nice waitress, great food..
Good gf options
*THE WORST TOM KHA IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE* I absolutely love Tom Kha and was so excited to try-out a place close to home so I ordered take-out and ended up so disappointed. The soup base had zero flavor (besides the fact that it tasted like old, over-cooked broccoli). All the vegetables in it were cut into large chunky pieces, and the noodles were so hard I thought it was cabbage. So sad.
Ausom food service and people love going hear it's new every time I try to eat everything on the menu haven't gotten all that far yet but hay its ben fun trying 😛
The peanut sauce is one of a kind, the pad thai noodles are amazing
Never had a bad experience here, and the food is hella delicious! Decently priced. The staff is very friendly.
