We have been ordering from this place for the last couple of years so we decided to go into the restaurant and try it in house. We loved the calm cozy ambience and the staff was phenomenal! When we order out we always order their Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and the Chicken Satay (which is one of my all time fave things on their menu). It’s always good and hits the spot. Tonight, we ordered the Herb Fish in Three Flavor Sauce and went with the Sea Bass option. It was Amazing! The flavors blended so well and even though it was lightly fried it was so incredibly fresh! The Pad See Ew was also excellent and even better fresh from the kitchen. And finally the salad rolls were HUGE and had a beautiful presentation. We will definitely be eating in the restaurant more often to try some more of their specials!
I have to say, I was not impressed in the least. The portions for price were on the small side. The pad Thai was almost all noodle, with very little meat or egg. The salad rolls I got have whole leaves of wilty looking brown lettuce and look like they were wrapped by a 3 year old. Mango sticky rice wasn't creamy at all, but instead was a soupy runny mess, while the rice itself felt like a giant tapioca ball and tasted about 4 days old.
In a town with dozens and dozens of Thai food options, I absolutely cannot recommend Mai Thai. Very disappointed, to the point if I didn't have a broken leg I'd have taken the food back and asked for a refund. But will never order again.
The best Thai Food I've eaten for sure. Their Pad See Ew is the star of the show and always cooked perfectly. The sauce isn't overly sweet like most Thai places and instead brings a balance of savory and sweet, the noodles are cooked perfectly and have the right amount of char. I'm also partial to the drunken noodles since I just like them a lot and the crispy egg rolls are delicious as well. The Pad Prim King is also tasty too. The shrimp for any dish is good and I've never had them over cooked which is very easy to do especially on a high heat wok. I eat here at least once every time I'm in Portland and have never been even close to disappointed. If you like Thai food (especially more than just Pad Thai), this place will quickly become your go-to spot in Portland.
This is our favorite thai place in Portland. The service and food is consistently really good and it comes out quickly! We are vegetarian and highly recommend this place, especially the curry and noodle dishes!
We tried Mai Thai when we were in Portland and it was a wonderful experience! The food was delicious and the service was great. Also loved the restaurant decor.

Hands-down, the best Thai food around.
Clean, comfortable, nice atmosphere wonderful wonderful food
I always get the Mai Thai chicken soup when I'm not feeling well 💞 I hope this place stays forever, all their noodle dishes are really good too. They have gluten free options as well
Vegan and vegetarians beware. I ordered tofu satay and tom kha and got all the way home to find both were chicken. Despite being clear as day in an online order. Usually Thai restaurants are a safe bet and on top of dietary modifications. Would not risk it here again.
Asked for 2 star spice level but received a high 4-5 spice level. Shrimp was a little undercooked. We didn't get the white rice or soda that we ordered, so we asked, and they brought it to us. The spice mistake was bad. I didn't eat the shrimp.
Was a desperately looking for a new Thai place in my surrounding area. Don’t waste your money. The food is mediocre. I’ve had a lot of really good Thai food so I know the difference. And the dinner portions are similar to a lunch portion. That’s outrageous in today’s economy. Hate to see what lunch potion would looks like 😬 I also asked for medium spice and got mild. Don’t waste your money. Pretty disappointed
Chicken fried rice was really great. Authentic food and environment
The BEST Pad Se Ew hands down in Portland. This place exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be ordering from Mai Thai again. Everything was amazing! My partner likes her Pad Thai spicy and it definitely was spicy!!

Hands down my favorite Thai restaurant in se Portland. I’m a creature of habit and this spot has been consistently the best pad Thai in SE for me. Highly recommend everything on the menu.
The people who work here are so nice. The food is really good and I strongly advise to add a Thai iced tea to your order. Great local spot.

Reliable, delicious!!!, quick neighborhood Thai! And the workers are always so kind! What more can you ask for?
I’ve tried about 5 of their plates on the menu and honestly.. been pretty satisfied. The taste of the food is just wonderful. I highly recommend the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and the TOM YUM soup.
They also have an extra food menu from Bangkok.. a little pricey but really worth to try.
The staff are very nice and very genuine. This restaurants seems to have authentic Thai food and just as authentic as the owners and staff seemed.
This place is a 5 out of 5 with no doubt.
10/10 this place slays
Great lunch specials and great service.
Great menu. Not crazy expensive either.
We were in town last weekend and stopped by here for lunch, it's been a week and I haven't stopped thinking about their delicious food! We got the golden triangles, spring rolls and Andaman fried rice, as well as an iced Thai tea. Cannot recommend this place enough, we will def be back!
Great hidden gem 💎. Really enjoyed dinner. Waitress was really good 👍🏼
The street food was delicious and absolutely worth sharing a few plates with friends. Plus the service was impeccable. Will definitely go back when I’m in town and in the mood for Thai (which is always lol)
Amazing Thai food. We came based of the reviews, and they didnt disappoint. We got the three herb fish(sea bass) and the Andame fried rice or whatever you call it plus 4 appetizers. Everything hit, no misses. The Mai Thai drinks were also 1 of 1. It is a lil pricey but you pay for that quality forsure. Anybody hating on this spot is a bot or npc cause this restaurant is truly a gem. Thank you Mai Thai for the experience!!
Truly outstanding thai food. Every dish was exceptional. Sometimes 5 star ratings on Google can be misleading—but this place is the real deal. Come here for incredible, flavorful, delicious food.
Hands down some of the best cocktails!
Friendly service and great food

They had very good food. Paid Thai was very flavorful.
I went here to be alone with my dog as he was quite rambunctious and the patio sufficed. But, that doll of a gal, a beautiful Thai woman, helped me with curteous and kind prompt service and I felt awesome as I ate on the patio with my pup.
Great feeling, cool vibe, sweet service. One of Portland's quiet, peaceful gems.
Our favorite place to eat and take out. We have that weekly and I love it. There is fried rice done with brown rice our favorite.
The service was speedy and the food was great. Not overly sweet for any of the noodles, a treasure in a sea of restaurants.
We visited the Belmont Street Fair and stopped here for lunch. Surprisingly the place wasn't full so we got right in. The Thai food was different and delicious.
Very friendly service. Good variety of Thai dishes and cocktails. Reasonably priced. Vegan friendly.
i love this place! i’m always craving their pumpkin curry 🎃🧡
Great place! Amazing food. Super cute atmosphere
We found this on a forum listing affordable hidden gems in the Portland area and it did not disappoint. The quality of the food was outstanding for the price per dish. Restaurant atmosphere was great and staff was very friendly. One very notable thing was their peanut sauce. The consistency and flavor profile is the best we've ever had, to the point that we ended up eating it by the spoonful until it was gone lol. Anyways, highly recommend this place.
Edit : 6/29 Ordered Togo but was disappointed with the Tom Yum (Veggie) soup - it smelled weirdly fishy, almost inedible. So we ended up throwing the soup.
Delicious Thai food, the food is very flavorful. We enjoyed Drunken Noodles and Tom Yum soup (very umami).
The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, the food is perfect, and I will definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you!
everything in this place is amazing! ❤️
Food arrived quickly, I was made comfortable while I waited, and the food was excellent.
Authentic Thai food.. will love this..
An awful experience. First, they messed up my salad rolls and put tofu. I checked the ticket, and it clearly said shrimp. Next, even though the tofu salad rolls were rolled properly in a cylindrical shape, for some reason, my shrimp salad rolls were rolled like temaki, which does NOT work with rice paper. It was nearly impossible to eat with everything spilling out.
I hoped my larb would be all right, but then I noticed they put ICEBERG LETTUCE with it. Why???? No Thai restaurant does this. I was IN THAILAND and no one does this. The flavor profile completely clashes and ruins the dish. Not only that, but the lettuce was chopped small so that you couldn’t use it as a boat for the meat, which is the main purpose of leaves in larb. The lettuce also had a strong chemical taste, which ruined the meal. There was only a sad, singular mint leaf.
Only positive note was that the peanut sauce was pretty good.
They didn’t provide any napkins or utensils for this pickup order, either.
I've had some delicious Thai food in Portland!, I go to a lovely Thai place on hawthorn. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is so lovely and beautiful and ithe service is really good too
Delicious food fantastic staff
I’ve been eating at Mai Thai since I accidentally walked into their old location (over by Lincoln high school) the day before their grand opening.
Great food made by great friends!
I was in the neighborhood and looking for thai food that was gluten free friendly. I was not disappointed, delicious fresh rolls with tofu and some pad prik khing was absolutely delicious. Kind and attentive service and great food, can't be beat! Menu clearly marked with GF vs not, such a relief.
This place is so-so, it used to be a total 5-star Thai place with amazing food worth the price, but somehow over the last few years the food has started to taste like microwaved thai, maybe a new kitchen staff happened? I want the old Mai Thai back, it used to be our go-to for best Thai in town.
**Recommend**
First time visit. I was pleased with my visit and would recommend.
Experience - was welcoming! Will definitely return. Nice interior ambiance. Establishment has a front patio, will bring our dogs next time! The portions were ideal, normally Thai restaurants will give you all this excess food.
Service - was excellent! Server greeted us with a smile and was attentive.
Taste - is thai-licious!
Quality - is excellent! Food was served hot with fresh ingredients.
I love this place. Their massaman curry is my favorite, but i have yet to find something i dislike on the menu
The dishes here are not very authentic. No vegetables that you would find in Thailand. Curry seems to come from some low quality mix. The noodles are ok. With all the Thai food in Portland it's not a place I'd need to go again.
Delicious
Could not recommend this restaurant enough. I ordered takeaway during a snowstorm, and when I went to pick up, I was greeted by the kindest staff who were keeping their restaurant open so folks in the neighbourhood had a place to eat. We were offered hot tea while we waited for our order, and they even gave us a complimentary appetizer in our order to say thank you for our business. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, the food is perfect, and I will definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you!
The best Thai food I have had in Portland. The ginger pepper dish is beautiful. My husband is slowing working his way up to make him cry spicy! We eat from here weekly. Grateful for gluten free for me too!
This is a nice, classic Thai restaurant. The food was tasty and service was great. They were good with vegetarian and vegan options too.
I cannot speak highly enough about how gracefully they handled a mistake on a recent delivery order. A quick phone call and no more than 15mins later our missing item arrived with several sweet treats and a kind note. Thank you Mai Thai team! We will be ordering again very soon.
Such delicious food!! I'm a huge fan of their Fresh Ginger with chicken or beef. The spicy eggplant basil is a solid second go-to for me. As for their noodle dishes, they do a great job of balancing the noodle-to-protein ratio, which not all Thai places do well (other places often have way too much noodle and almost no veggies/protein). Other family members adore their orange chicken and egg rolls. We've never had a bad dish here. Delivery, take-out, and dine-in have all been great and staff has always been patient and kind. Can't recommend them enough!!
I had the curry. The girl behind the counter was nice. Good for carry out. I will go back.
This was one of the best Thai food meals that I have had. I have a new favorite Thai restaurant now! Everything was so delicious. The portion size, presentation and flavor were top notch! Also
all of the workers that we interacted with were so nice.
Definitely go here!
We had a delicious dinner here on a cold winter night before walking down to see the lights of Peacock Lane. Four of us had the kao soi - divine, just like I remember having in Chiang Mai. Everyone else in our group of ten enjoyed various curries and noodle dishes, and we took home no leftovers even though the portions were generous, which tells you how good it is! They take reservations through Google assistant, which I've never used before but it worked great. The server was friendly and helpful with recommendations. Highly recommend for Thai soul food.
Most dishes are tasty. Portions and presentations are underwhelming compared to pictures on menu. On the more expensive side comparatively for what you get.
SEベルモント特有のゆったりとした時間の流れで、食事ができます。
Food was okay.
Food was good
Great food
Such an amazing restaurant! Most definitely my go to Thai place in Portland! A must visit
The Tom Kha soup is PHOENOMINAL. I got that with the coconut rice for lunch and it was out of this world good. I'll definitely be back!
Super yummy, gluten free safe, very friendly staff. One of my faves in town!
Hidden gem. Every dish was excellent.
I don't know when they stopped serving soup with their lunch special, but their website still shows it as part of the done in menu. The whole reason I came down here, could have ordered to-go or went somewhere else. Bummed.
Didn't try the food because when we entered the person working was asleep in a booth. We waited a few minutes and decided to leave... Wish we could've tried the food, as we hear it's good!
Delicious food. The thai tea with coconut milk tastes absolutely delicious
When they tell you it's spicy, they mean it. The only time I like to cry is into my food, and I can promise if that's also your MO - you'll get that here. The wontons were deliciously crispy, and the salad rolls were perfectly stuffed. I did take out because I didn't want to change out of sweatpants, but this place is absolutely worth pants (though I'd probably keep them stretchy because you're gonna want to keep eating).
This is a welcoming neighborhood family-run restaurant and our go-to for wonderful Thai food. We love the charm of their kids coloring quietly at a booth in the corner as well as the calm and sophisticated decor. The menu is beautiful and in full color menu, but it’s the wide variety of dishes that they offer that keeps us coming back. We love veggies and we especially appreciate that there is no skimping on the veggies in their curry!
We used to eat here regularly, unfortunately the quality has taken a dive in the last few months, and tonight’s food was so bad I was prompted to review. The portions have become extremely small as well. I hope they are doing ok financially but it’s plainly obvious they have chosen to start using worse quality ingredients along with serving less of it. :( bummed as we won’t be coming back here again.
best thai ever
Wonderful food and good service 👍
We were very disappointed in both food and service. Met with glares when we walked in. No greeting or words of any kind when we’re brought menus. One of three plates came out, mine, and my starving kids had wait another ten minutes before their food arrived at the table. The menu pictures look way better than the actual plates. Their pad Thai was excessively sweet. They could hardly choke it down. My Eggplant basil was extremely salty. Never once did the waitress check on us. Sort of terrible and depressing.
Been coming for years, love this place, & their iced tea is delicious.
THE BEST THAI FOOD I've had in a long, long time!! SO fresh!
Best chow mein I've had in a long time
The best peanut sauce and salad rolls.
My favorite Thai restaurant in Portland. Great atmosphere, people, and food. When you ask for spice, they don’t hold back one bit. Plus they keep the hot Thai tea topped off. 🙏
Good fresh Thai food I recommend
I'm not a Thai food expert by far. In Fact, this was my first time eating real Thai food and to be honest if what this place offers is authentic and considered a place to get good Thai food then I must say, I am not a big fan of their cuisine in general. However, I have this weird hunch that what they served us at this restaurant was neither authentic nowhere nowhere near the best. Because it simply tasted like bad Chinese food and the portions were skimpy for the price and the plates and silverware felt dirty and the host/waitress/cashier/entreé garnish among other hats she wore was very lethargic and I literally had to ask her if she could please come take our order and at least serve us the drinks after sitting waiting for her an excessive amount of time.
I will never go here again if I can help it. And I will be trying Thai food elsewhere to see if my hunch is correct.
in my efforts to find the best pad thai in portland, this was my third stop & it feels like it would be pointless to try anywhere else. now that i have been here so many times, i can confirm that literally everything they offer is delicious. great vegan options, friendly staff, non pretentious eatery with a cozy feel. quickly became my go to. you might also get a cute little drawing on your bag if you get it to go.
I can’t believe I had never been here before! First of all their menus were beautifully designed and bound. I think their spring rolls have basil instead of mint which gave it a bit of uniqueness combined with the sweet & sour sauce. I had an eggplant & basil dish which was easily made vegan. I usually love eggplant but I can’t ever look at it the same again (in a good way). My friend had the masala curry and they were both amazing!
Lemongrass soup was amazing I will be back
Maybe it was the dish I ordered. But it didn't have enough flavor. If I go there again I will definitely order something else. Customer service was excellent.
Great food, nice people.
This is one of the top best Thai restaurants I have ever visited! The Tom Kah Kai soup was absolutely amazing!
Service was great, food was okay
Mai Thai is probably my most visited take out spot in Portland. The food is delicious and consistently good and the staff is kind, hard working and efficient. I’ve tried plenty of other Thai food restaurants in Portland but end up back at Mai Thai as my first choice. Always a good experience and highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious Thai food in Portland!
Great food, great atmosphere, service is awesome!
Great Tom Kha soup and great friendly service
Great experience today! They are so fast and the place was super clean.
Wonderful food. Everything was fresh and presented beautifully. Even the grandkids were willing to try new things because they looked so good! Generously fed 8 people a wonderful variety of dishesfor $100 which I thought was remarkable!
We hadn't eaten there in years and it was every bit as wonderful as I remembered. Will have to find reasons to return to the neighborhood more often. Certainly worth a visit!
The environment inside the restaurant is very Thai style. There are no decorations or bright colors but full of gold department filled with the whole space. very local ethnic atmosphere, revealing the mysterious religious color, i feel i am in Thailand
Service is really good. They give me water two minutes after i enter the restaurant.
The first dish their chef recommended to me was Kaiyang: I think is one of the hallmarks of the restaurant. The whole chicken is cut in half and then marinated and laid on charcoal for a long time. it makes whole chicken very crispy, and with the homemade sauce, it makes the taste very unique. sweet but not greasy.
The noodles are really strong and Smoked lasagna, topped with a spicy seafood gravy, it's very chewy, it's very soupy, and you have all kinds of seafood on lasagna
Super good food, even better serve
My noodles were more of an oil soup, the papaya salad was flavorless (how does that even happen?!) and was so small it could have fit in a to-go ketchup sauce container, and the laab was the worst I've ever had. I get it, it's covid and we should all be cutting restaurants some slack... but we''re 1 1/2 years into this and if they can't even have mediocre standards maybe they shouldn't be in business. It's not like I'm getting discounts- I paid full price for hands down the most disappointing thai food I've ever had. And I've eaten Thai in Iowa so that's saying something.
Oh man, truly a delicious spot. I highly recommend the street food menu!
By far the best Thai food we’ve tried in our (domestic) travels, and the service is lovely as well.
The food was great just not good customer service quality. Wanted a Thai Coconut milk tea and she kept telling me no milk tea drinks. I had to look through their menu in order to find exactly what I wanted. Coconut milk is milk, so their communication level is not the best, but otherwise the food was great. Ask always for serving utensils waitress could forget. The restaurant is dark, but their interior design is very beautiful!!
I'm a Thai food enthusiast, specifically a Thai soup enthusiast and the wonton soup here is to die for!
Besides their soups, I got the garlic ginger pepper chicken lunch special, it was soooo good, may be too much for some (spice from pep) but it was just right for me.
Highly recommend! I like them way more than thai peacock, feels more authentic and street food orientated, which is what I love and adore about Thai food culture.
Great customer service. Fast and tasty.
Best pineapple fried rice! Nice atmosphere, friendly host, not too packed for a Saturday night and good food.
This is our regular, go-to Thai option in our 'hood. I lived in Thailand for a while, so am very particular about Thai food. Mai Thai gets it right every time. Aroi Maak (very delicious)!
Place is awesome...
Jeez they need security at this place to kick out the maskless riff raff. I thought I was gonna have to let some elbows fly cause this stinky bum without a mask kept brushing past me. The poor lady at the counter looked like she didn't know what to do about him! Next time I will throw him out myself.
Randomly stopped in here and had an absolutely wonderful dinner. Service was on point, the food delicious and ambiance was perfect. Will definitely be going back!
The vegan Pad Thai and pumpkin curry is amazing!
Delicious food and excellent customer service. It's clear the operators care about cleanliness and practice great covid protocols. Highly recommended neighbor hood restaurant where customers are remembered.
Delicious 😋
Huge portions. Peanut sauce on the side is so worth it. Tea was dope too. :)
I was going to rate them 4 stars, because ordering was very slow (about 15 minutes). They said it had to do with their register system. Anyway, I was under the impression that waiting that long was unusual and they were really nice and apologetic about it. I got the Chu Chi Fish, either Tilapia or Sea Bass (I got Sea Bass), lightly fried and over "fantastic curry." It really was fantastic. The fish was cooked beautifully. It was so succulent and the curry was spicy but also a bit tangy and overall it was a very pretty dish. With that taste, I'd feel wrong giving less than 5 stars.
And just like that, Mai Thai was put right on my Portland food map. I'll definitely be coming back.
Also, the patio is really cute and lit up with strings of lights in case you're looking for restaurants with outdoor seating.
We wanted to eat outside but they put us in to go containers other customers came and they got plates
Delicious food, great service, attentive staff!
Their Khao Soi is the best i've had in Portland!
Fresh Delicious flavors, love this place
Terrible service!!!
This place is wildly understated. They are a very dependable and delicious Thai place. I have gotten great curry here among other dishes. My favorite has been the Andamun fried rice. That dish is superb, and reasonably priced. I'd def like to get to know the people here. They're great at what they do.
The food really is fantastic. But I couldn't believe how small the portion was!!!!!!
Stopped for a quick bite before heading home to Seattle. Pad Thai was some of the best I've had. Quick service and friendly.
The service was great and the food was incredible! The orange chicken was especially delicious. This place is nothing like we’ve ever had before. A must- try Thai food place.
Have been going here for a few years now. It's our favorite Thai restaurant in Portland. Large portions, fantastic taste and spice. We just finished eating and had to come give the thumbs up. Sorry it took so long for us to review!
Food is super good. Just don't order them via postmates, otherwise its going to take forever to get your food, just look up the menu and then call and order.
I'll keep going back good place for soup
Delicious!
I must say they definitely exceeded my expectations on both the service and the food! The number 44 with the glass noodles is delicious and my hubby loved the number 40 with the extra wide fried noodles. All of the vegetables taste very fresh and the flavors are excellent, your tummy will thank you. 👍🥰
Excellent and kind service. Great food. Good portions.
Food was delicious and they were open Christmas Eve so it was pretty clutch after my late flight in. The orange chicken and hot flash cocktail are incredible.
Very, very poor. The Orange chicken was overly sweet orange breading with very little to no chicken. Overall food had not much flavor. We will not try again.
Wonderful. Flavorful. Affordable. My wife can't eat garlic due to an allergy and they basically only have a few things on there menu she can't eat. Also very pleasant staff.
Excellent food
Blandest thai food ever.
Cute place, love the outdoor seating. Excellent meal and service
