City Thai is your neighborhood's go-to Thai food. Whether you're in the mood for takeout, delivery, or a cozy dine-in experience, we've got you covered.
Amazing food, great flavors. My new favorite Thai restaurant.
Coconut prawns.... We'll be ordering 2-3 next time. They got half eaten before I could take a pic.
Chicken skewers and peanut sauce... Delicious!!!!
Sizzling tropical..... Wow
Chicken pad Thai.... Was chicken pad Thai, was good but not amazing like everything else
And the drinks were actually fabulous (not loaded with sugar like most). Blackberry margarita and mango mojito. While drinking these and eating the appetizers we agreed we were coming back with friends.
I don’t recommend. We got paid extra for pad see ew with salmon (salmon was missing), combo fried rice, Thai crispy chicken basil, omg rolls, cream brûlée cheesecake. The food was very bland. Rice barely had any protein. The omg rolls were sour/tangy and off. Not really understanding the flavors. Disappointed that everything looked better than it tasted and we won’t be eating the whole food. There are many other better Thai places in Portland
City Thai never disappoints! The food is always amazing, and I can't get enough of their boat noodles – they're packed with flavor and just the right amount of spice. The shrimp fresh rolls are another must-try; they're super fresh and delicious! The ambiance is cozy, and the staff is always friendly. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving authentic Thai food!
City Thai is our local Thai restaurant which we have visited several times. Up until the last two time there is has been fine. Food was pretty good - service a little slow. However, the past two times we have eaten there we have had foreign substances in our food. The first time is was a black hair in my partners food which caused her to stop eating. This last time, on Thurs August 22, we both had non-edible materials in our spring rolls. My partner went first, into her second spring role she pulled out a long, what appears to be either a long grey hair or thin string. My turn was coming, my first bite into my second spring roll, I pulled out a large piece of string which caused us both to stop eating and toss out the rest of the food. I have attached a picture of what we found. Needless to say I will not be going back to City Thai.
City Thai is a delightful and charming locale, adorned with enchanting Christmas decorations that evoke a cozy holiday movie atmosphere. The culinary experience is unparalleled, offering the finest Thai cuisine that compelled me to revisit twice within a week in the company of friends. The staff exudes warmth and friendliness, contributing to an overall exceptional dining experience. Remarkably, the cost is surprisingly affordable. If I could, I'd give it an extraordinary 6 stars out of 5. Truly, City Thai has captured my heart with its lovable ambiance and delectable offerings.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
There is a full bar.
There is outdoor seating which is dog friendly.
The menu has a large variety of options. They will spice the meal as ordered. The food is very good. Not gourmet but comfort Tai food good.
The hot tea comes in a cute little elephant cup.
This is a Hillsdale neighborhood favorite.
Best Thai restaurant- food is consistently fresh and flavorful!!!
The food and drinks were delicious!

Delicious food with a consistent spice level every time we visit. The ambience is cozy and the service is great too. It has become our favorite Thai restaurant.
Best Thai in Portland.
I ordered takeaway, had to wait 50 minutes on a Friday, the food was a disappointment, I ordered soup and it was impossible to eat it was extremely spicy, the orange chicken was a bit overcooked. The only thing I liked was the rice with meat and shrimp, which by the way they only gave me two shrimps, From 1 to 10 I would give it a three and I'm being kind.
Cute little spot with some of the best Thai Food I have ever had. You can tell they are making it all fresh back there. Most unique peanut sauce!!

High quality and good portions. Highly reccomend the yellow curry and the wings.
We always make time for City Thai when visiting.
Waited 40 minutes after the pickup time for food to be ready. They need to get better at estimating time so customers aren’t wasting their time.
First time here, LOVED IT! Will be back soon :)

Just perfect
Went there to get take out and was completely ignored by staff, waited 10 minutes and still no help and all the people that arrived after us were helped.
As I turned to walkout the door still no acknowledgement, I was a ghost to them.
Might give them another chance. It wasn he first time I've been there but first time ignored.
Great please for some quick Thai food
I've picked up from City Thai several times and have found the food to always be delicious, better than other Thai I've eaten in this area. The restaurant is cute and I would recommend for dining in as well. Pick up is ready quickly.
Friendly and inviting atmosphere. Service was excellent and the food was out of this world. Highly recommend the steamed pork dumplings and softshell crab. Will be returning.
Nice clean and bright space.Very delicious soft shell Crab.Enjoyed all the food we ordered.Attentive service.
Today I came in for the first time and had my favorite, Kaho Soi and it's delicious! Better than other places I have tried it. The service is great and I will definitely be back !
Go to place for to go or a quick bite. Reliable, consistent good food, reasonable price and I don’t have to deal with driving into the city.

I generally aim for Thai options on the East Side, but this place really blew me away with the depth of flavors. Really great food.
It has been awhile since i have been here but tonight WOW! The food was amazing and the staff and service equally WOW. We won’t venture far from home in the future for a lovely dinner.
This place is so yummy! And they are really great about gluten free options!!
Best Thai food around. Everything is so fresh and their service is impecable! I highly recommend this place
My favorite Thai food in Portland. Excellent service. Creative takes on traditional dishes
Absolute top Thai I’ve had in Portland! Unique dishes that I couldn’t stop thinking about for days after 😍 love this place so much!
This is the best Thai food restaurant in Portland. Hands down. Great service, as well. Great location.
Food was pretty pretty good
Over the last 5 years our large family has enjoyed city Thai food at least once a month. The food is good. We received a City Thai gift card for $50. My wife and I took our daughter out for a New Years dinner. When we went to pay our bill we used the gift card. The manager said it was not good since there was a new owner. Ok? We didn’t argue the point.
We paid our Bill with cash and left a good tip. As I was leaving I thought to myself when somebody asks us where to eat? Portland is a wonderful place for great food!
Alway great food.
Love this place, always great, excellent and quick service.
Delicious avocado green curry.

One of my pet peeves when dining out is dirty windows and especially dirty bathrooms. City Thai, your men's bathroom was filthy. It shows you don't care about your customers or your business.
Charming little place near Multnomah village. For is fresh and delicious. Definitely going back...
Great service, great food. My favorite Thai spot.
City Thai is one of my favorite restaurants in Portland! I come here on a weekly basis, and I have never been disappointed. The food, service, and intimate atmosphere are all stellar. My personal favorites are the pineapple curry and the panang curry. I have ordered take out several times as well and have continually been impressed. 10/10!
Favorite Thai restaurant in Portland. Cozy, intimate, relaxing atmosphere. Very nice owners. Great for take out and dine in. Consistent. Generous portions. Very well priced. Recommend their curries and lava noodles. Highly recommend soy curls for vegetarians, very tasty.
ordered take out by delivery service after a long work day. horrible food with absolutely zero flavor or spice, I requested spicy and NO bean sprouts because I'm allergic they completely ignored my requests. friend tried the food and made the above comments. bland and tasteless.
Pineapple red curry with shrimp was on point!
Great food, friendly staff, and the restaurant is a big supporter of the high school and the many nonprofits that underpin its student activities.
This is my Gf & I's goto place we've came so many times and it's always been a positive refreshing experience. I wish the atmosphere and service that exists in this restaurant was the industry standard. I've become the biggest fan of Meena, she is always on the ball and genuinely cares about the restaurant and the community it has cultivated. In summary if you want a place to go that takes good care of its guests for an extremely fair price. This is it.
We ordered their large combo fried appetizers, chicken satay, combination fried rice and pumpkin tempura. The chicken satay had no Thai flavor or seasoning.. Just white breast meat strips with no color. The "tempura" was NOT tempura batter at all but thick/ tough panko. The other fried appetizers were chewy and gummy on outside and hardly any filling. Everything was very bland. We got it to go or I would have sent it back. The staff was nice ambiance were decent.
Awesome pad Thai and crab fried rice, will definitely be back
Great food and drinks with nice atmosphere!
This place was great. Food was hot and delicious, flavorful and prompt. Will definitely be back!
Not a Thai fan but it came up on grubhub and after exploring decided to try. I officially like Thai now. I got the sizzling tropical, city Thai combo, Thai iced coffee and the lava choc. Cake, they threw in some rice for free. Everything was hot fresh flavorful and savory. Absolutely made a reaccuring customer out of me I will be back and will be bringing my family!
I ordered the sizzling tropical with no chicken. I rec’ved 2 shrimp and mushy mango. I’m guessing it only comes with 2 shrimp and a sliver of chicken usually. It wasn’t terrible but it want great.
One of the best Thai restaurants in town. Such a great atmosphere, food, and customer service. Everyone was so nice. The food was served in a timely matter, which was very nice. 10/10 would recommend to a friend!
The food needs a little more
This is an elevated, yet still comforting version of your neighborhood Thai eatery. The decor is charming and the staff kind. We had go-to basics of Pad See Ew and Mussaman Curry, which were both excellent. The Pad See Ew had that lovely, smoky flavor and everything was cooked perfectly. The Golden Calamari was crispy and delicious, and pleasantly surprised us with whole calamari rather than the standard sliced rings. I also ordered a non-alcoholic passion fruit cocktail that was yummy. Overall, this is exactly the kind of restaurant anyone could wish for as a neighborhood staple.
Excellent Thai cuisine. Thus far I have only ordered vegetable pad thai with egg; and also green curry. Both superb!
Service was exceptional, even in the city, they're able to slight adaptions to fit your taste. Their spice could be spicier, but it has a complex formation, that lasts the whole night. The place is comfortable, relatively quiet, and very clean.
City Thai is reliably great - flavors, variety of menu items, and service. AND they have added soy curls as a protein option that is excellently prepared. Tender, flavorful and a great, healthy plant-based option. I’ll be back soon!!
Small cute place, been here forever...I really like the Cashew Delight, just the right amount of spicy sweetness... parking lot is a little on the tight side...
I have been going here since highschool (early 2000's) and they are my absolute favorite Thai restaurant in Portland! They are the only place I can find pad woon sen with the glass noodles and they're always friendly and willing to customize your meal.
Great crew and even better food. I would definitely recommend.
Our household favorites are Avocado Green Curry with Tofu❤️ Crab Fried Rice❤️ Pad Thai❤️ and Pad See Ew.
I will say food is flavored well. If you are spice sensitive, order it mild with spice on the side!
Delicious food, friendly staff.
This place had easily the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Flavourful and delicious. The vibes of the place were really good and the server was so nice. The prices are bad and there are a lot of vegetarian options. Top tier, would go again.
The staff seemed hesitant to interact with my daughter and me. The orange chicken was standard fare previously frozen breaded chicken product. The sizzling tropical plate offered a wonderful variety of produce, 1 shrimp, 2 pieces of chicken, and was heavy with soy sauce, light on the spice. The rice was excellent. The Shirley Temple was mostly grenadine.
These people never fail to be rude
Great place!
They were busy tonight and food came out a little later than expected, but they gave me a free curry! Very nice place. It's our go-to thai place in portland
Amazing food every single time! We've tried Green Curry, Red Curry, Tom Kha soup, Pad Woon Sen, and the Crab Puffs! Love, love, love this place!
Food was cold, as was my friend’s. Vegetables, chicken and rice…cold. Not good, especially on a cold day!
Server was extremely busy, but she was the only one with several people present.
I had a hard time getting her attention to ask for Soy sauce. She got two little packages for me, but they were impossible to open. I finally had to pierce with my fork…
Very messy .
Ugh. The most disappointing Thai food ever.
Pad Thai: flavorless, dry, mediocre af.
Crab puffs: same deal. Mushy but literally burnt black on top. Flavorless and boring.
You ever regret a meal and want to throw it up to go free up stomach space and eat somewhere else to cleanse the pallete? Yep. That’s me right now 😆😆
We love City Thai! It's one of our absolute favorites for take out. We especially like the Pad Thai. The portions are quite generous too!
The place is really cute. It didn't look like your typical Thai restaurant. The spicy noodles were not spicy at all, almost sweet which was really weird to me. The curry tasted much better and the rice was different. We didn't go during the typical lunch time so there was only one person working the front. It looked like she was still really busy on the computer.
Great place for takeout! Love the green curry!
Lava Noodles:
Flavorful but served in a large bowl to the brim, covered with bean sprouts.
The issue was all the rice noodles were on one side of the bowl and all the vegetables on the other side.
Covered with wonderful curry and peanut sauce,
but the bowl was so full, I was not aware that all the noodles were on one side and vegetables on the other side
I kept digging in looking for them. So when I found them they were all stuck together.
The dish should be served on a large plate covered with the curry sauce.
The flavourful sauce and pork were great.
Just the wrong plating for this dish, in opinion.
Very good food. We make this place a regular.
Love the specials.
THE BEST THAI PLACE EVER!!!! The staff are so nice, the service is fast, and food is so good!
LITERALLY THE BEST RESTAURANTS EVER!!!! I come here at least once a week and I’m obsessed the Thai iced tea is to die for everyone is super nice and the food slaw has comes really fast
Would’ve loved to call in some food to go… normally I love this place but they just don’t answer their phone if there is customers in the restaurant. Pretty disappointing.
Waited so long for my order I had to unassigned to keep from getting a contact violation from door dash.
Our go-to Thai place. You will not be disappointed
Came here for lunch and was not disappointed. Got a couple lbs of crawfish and holy smokes was it delicious. We got like 4/10 spice because well, we all know that Thai hot is hot as heck! It tasted so freaking great. Like I've had down south. The little craw friends were pretty big too! Delicious af. The wings were plump as heck too!!!
Go there once in a bit, salty but good. Generally gives me burning poo.
Honestly I think that it was much better in 2020 in regards to how the pad Thai tasted. The chef got changed over the years, now its made with chili flakes and a tamarind sour taste. Ever since the chef changed so has the dish, it has changed to a tamarind strong taste. Not the old pad Thai sauce which really made it a good pad Thai. Other than that good service but miss the old recipe/ version.
Delicious food, amazing and hard working staff. It's amazing fresh, but if you're in a rush and get it to go it's still tasty! Their crab cream cheese wontons are BOMB! I've gone there just to order those delicious little fried goodies with their sauce.. OOOHH!
I have eaten here several times a month during the pandemic and the food is great.
Excellent food and fantastic service! I ate so much, a pad Thai, green curry, and Thai fried rice, all of which were delicious.
The best there is. Small, comfy, great service with beautifully plated, amazing food.
They force you to tip and will add the tip themselves if you don’t tip. We were just a party of 3.
Really comfy place and such great food and service. Full bar too! Really fresh ingredients and good spice levels.
Great place, quick service with delicious food for a good price
Take long time but food is good
Delicious!
Service was good but food flavor was a bit bland. Portions size was good but for Thai food I was expecting some more of the classic flavors. I had the Silver Chicken Soup I believe it was called.
The food is so good! I love peanut sauce and this place has some of the best. Everytime I look at the menu I want to order 5 or 6 entrees.
Staff were friendly.
Ordered lava noodle dish with chicken; the dish was different and the sauce was tasty.
Did an order of mango with sticky rice to go ----- sticky rice was blue!
Friend told me it was all delicious.
Little snafu with the bill but staff corrected right away.
Plenty of parking.
There is outdoor seating available.
Great food and drinks!
Good food. Reasonable
Delicious food, good portions, and great service. This has to be one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to in recent memory.
Great food and fast service. Always love to stop by and pick up something when we are in the area, I suggest going for a surprise dish, I haven't been disappointed by the chef's choice yet.
This is one of my favorite dinner places to go to, my favorite thing to get there is the pad se ewe chicken no spice!
I really like how you can get birthday coupons here
This was the second time we had eaten here in less than a week.
I will say this about the place.
The curry is to die for as well as the coconut prawns.
The service was good and the place was clean. Also, the staff is pretty friendly.
Not a bad place to go and eat some dang good food.
Terrible service. I Was a walk in during lunch. One couple presently sitting. Girl behind the counter didn't respond at any attempts to get attention to place an order. Completely ignored and just leaned against the countertop staring at her screen. Otherwise place looked promising, BUT UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE.
Great food ! We've missed this place and are so glad to be able to sit in and not just pick up or delivery service. Still limited seating but worth a wait.
Amazing quiet Bistro, delicious food plus deserts great service, generous portions, I will be a return customer!
My friends and I recently discovered this spot thanks to a delivery service, and wow! I am beyond sad to have not discovered it sooner! The food is awesome! They have the food ready quickly and the staff is super nice. Wet have a Thai food restaurant near our house, but I always make the drive here because it's totally worth it.
Love the quality of the food and there response to the Covid with mask and social distancing. Would be great if you could told us the time for the pickup on the website. It only says ASAP.
Food is decent but they do a really poor job of managing take out pick up. Understaffed, slow and totally chaotic. Kind of risky with covid-19.
Bad at dealing with dinner rush. Need to get it figured out. Almost always late and annoying when I order here. It has been this way for a while. Time to start using a different Thai restaurant.
Good consistent Thai food. I was a bit disappointed as they no longer have roasted red chilli flakes. They've switched to pre-packaged chili flakes.
Nice place, dependably good food, kinda pricey, the staff isn't super friendly. Their papaya salad (one of my favorite dishes) is always way too sweet, and on several occasions I've had to wait quite a while for a pickup orders. But these are all minor niggles. I congratulate them on being one of those places that has converted their business model to COVID realities quite efficiently, and they're definitely a neighborhood favorite.
Burnt my eggs and didn’t give me a refund :( management sucks !
They only offered a takeout. I ordered spicy fried rice and specifically asked for it to be spicy. Well, they probably did their version of racial profiling ( I'm an elderly caucasian male) so what I got was medium at best. But I have to give them some recognition for asking if I wanted plasticware and they respected my wish not to include it. So one star for the environment.
I absoluty love the red mango curry and get it alot (4/5 ). I got the pad see ew yesterday and i coudnt finish it because almsot immidialty i felt sick. I was vomiting for 3 hours and i felt sick all of today. The curry here is really good but there was something off with my pad see ew
Small portions with soggy rice
Always get good Thai food here. The spice level can be hit or miss, but don't miss out on their curries and the Sticky Rice!
Pesimo servicio, el lugar esta super sucio, la atencion es muy mala por la mujer que atiende, ademas de tardar demasiado en preparar las ordenes
Made chow main with onion when asked for no onion. Rest of food was mediocre at best. Do yourself a favor and just go to or order from Thai PK instead
Love this place!
I visited this place because they partnered with a local non-profit. It is amazing that even during these tough times for restaurants this location agreed to split their revenues with a non-profit to give back to the community.
This location is only doing pick-up and delivery. Nobody can wait inside so most wait in their car or stand outside.
I ordered the Capitol Appetizer Sampler and Chicken Spicy Noodle. The Capitol Appetizer Sampler is a pretty big size and well worth the price. I wish I got more sweet sauce. The Chicken Spicy Noodle was also good. I got the spicy noodle as a level 3 and I could tell there was some spicy but I should have gotten the 4.
We tried this little place for the first time in years. On Mother's Day. Of course, due to the Covid virus limitations, orders were all to go. When we got home and dished out our portions, we sat down hoping for some decent Thai food. It wasn't just good.
It.
Was.
Amazing!
Yes, we've been back since.
Fantastic meals for take-out! Fresh and really good! Seamless pick-up and ordering. Thank You!
I love City Thai soooo much!! Hands down my favorite Thai food in the city. Always good, always fresh, always smiling faces! I just got my 42nd order (just guessing) to-go and it's just as good as the first!! Do yourself a favor, and order the 'Oh My God Rolls' you can thank me later ;)
Excellent food and service. Additionally, excellent cocktails.
Pretty big disappointment honestly. There are far better Thai places in Portland. Service was good but food was so so.
The best place to have dinner in NW Portland. Everybody is so nice and helpful. Everything is so delicious!
My friend and I both did not feel well after eating here so it might have been an off night. Otherwise, it was not a bad thai option.
i doordashed tom kha and it had pepperoncini, wavy cut hamburger pickles, baby corn and a slew of frozen veg.
They have the best pad thai. I always like their Tom kha soup. Makes me feel good when I am feeling sick.
Delivery was fast, driver was very professional. The fried shrimp was awesome
Food is amazing. Portions are generous. Staff is friendly.
If I could give no stars I would. Terrible customer service. Worst I've ever seen. They would not give me any utencils for my delivery customer. Just terrible place to go.
love the seafood pad thai only wish there was more!!!!
Very happy. We went at lunch. There was plenty of parking, excellent service, and the food was not the cookie cutter Thai you get at the more popular restaurants but more of a home style full of spices and clean flavors.
Food was good, service was friendly and was served promptly
Good service and good food
Would order again! Done thru GrubHub and they respect the comments to make curry spicy. So delicious. Coconut Shrimp were delightful, so well fried and the shrimp are still juicy and flavorful!
Panang Curry was a little thin but the flavor was perfect, bell peppers could have been fresher. Chicken stay was so flavorful and juicy and tasty with great peanut and vinegar dips! Yum I'm planning my next order 😋
