Brightly painted eatery with a lengthy menu of Thai standards & a large dog-friendly patio.
Very happy this restaurant was open on Christmas. Their Alberta location is located near the end of the artistic Alberta street. Street parking along the main road or side streets.
The main reason why I came here was because they served khao soi! It was delicious but sweeter than what I had it in Thailand. Still pretty good tho! Their thai tea was also tasty and wasnt overly sweet.
Generous portions at fair prices~
Good selection of Thai food and I'd say they're probably the best-tasting of this food genre on Alberta Street. Their basil fried rice is delicious. The inside looked a bit strange to me at first since it's so brightly-colored, but it is pretty clean. Also, service is super nice and rather fast.
ChaBa Thai is another traditional Thai restaurant with a decade of history on Alberta Street. Their food is fantastic, very flavorful a moderate price. A decent amount of seating so you never really have to wait long for a table or sit outside in their rustic garden. We love the Pad Thai and the Spring rolls, nicely cooked and not overdone, never too hot unless you want it to be. Just ask and they will make it as hot as you can handle.
Amazing food and people. We order often from here and they always meet or exceed expectations.
This place is SERIOUSLY awesome.. Words won't do the place justice. You just NEED to go and try anything on the menu..then you'll understand..
We ate here for the first time a months ago. We have been back every week since then!
Love it! Dream of it !

This is my favorite Thai place in Portland
I love Cha'Ba Thai. My partner and I discovered it after our SE Asia trip and found it felt/tasted very authentic. My go to is Kao Soi 🤤
Delicious cashew chicken and duck curry, friendly service, and reasonable prices. Thank you!
Steamed fish, curry and noodle dishes all cooked to perfection. Really impressed, lovely service.
Tried to go to the one on sandy Blvd but it was closed for renovation. They did the Alberta restaurant had the same menu but it didn't. And the food they did have was not well prepared and heavy on the msg. Stick with the Alberta outlet.
The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. We get quite a bit of takeout, but also enjoy dining in when we can. Highly recommend.
I am addicted to their chuchee (sp?) prawns. I don't even bother with the side of rice lol
For that quality of food i do not have to go to a restaurant. With a little preparation I would do quite better. Unfortunately
The broccoli and spinach with peanut sauce is good
Chaba Thai Alberta is a family favorite. The service is friendly, and if you tell them when you’re coming to pick up, it’s super fresh. The food is delicious!
Arrived at 230pm, Closes at 3pm. Told me my order would be to go....Guess they don't want my business. Not going back there.
Really fantastic food! The curry puffs and Pad Thai are amazing. Prices are super reasonable too.
世界一美味しいタイ料理屋さん。このお店のパッタイやカオパッドが恋しいです🥹
server/hostess working insanely hard. Best pad Kai I have ever had. Highly recommend
Very good Thai food! Affordable and good portions. The decor is nice, the service is good. The only downside is the bathrooms are bizarrely hot 🤔
Food & Service is always terrific! Crab fried rice is sooo good!

They have real good shrimp fried rice.

Absolute gem of a place! Amazing food no matter what you get! I had the drunken noodles, and my mother had the shrimp pad thai. We shared an order of pot srickers and spring rolls, which were some of the best we've had. It's definitely a must try spot!!
Not the prettiest place or the best tasting Thai I have but it's a neighborhood staple and they are fast and consistent. Staff is very kind and easy going too.
I got to go food. This was the best chicken satay I have ever had. The curry was excellent as well. Will definitely be making this my go to Thai spot.
Each dish is really eye-catching, delicious, and huge proportion. I can't finish my dish in one time😋
4명이 음식을 먹었는데 서비스는 별로였는데 팁은 18% 영수증에 포함해서 나왔네 말도없이..
So far this is my favorite place that I've tried, everything was really delicious. I got yellow curry, pad thai, and their tempura was delicious and unique.
Good food and fast service. Their spicy is Thai spicy, not American, so if you are tired of making mild spice, go here!
We've ordered take out before and enjoyed it, but the last order was disappointing. My noodle dish had the noodles in a separate glop that was congealed and only contained a few pieces of squid, 1 or 2 corns and peapods, and the serving size was small. My wife's salad was old and uneatable. The side dish of calamari breading tasted stale. We wasted $40 and will never order again.
I've ordered Cha'Ba take away in the past, but recently went into the restaurant with my family for the first time. There is a great outdoor space with plenty of shade, and a cute little garden. The food is very good with family sized portions. We ordered a couple orders of pad see ew and pad Kra Pao. The food was fresh and hot, and I look forward to exploring the rest of the menu. There didn't seem to be any house specialties. There are a couple of Thai restaurant on Alberta, Cha'Ba has become my go-to
The service was extraordinary and I had the best food I’ve ever tasted. Not to mention the seasoning was very on point especially for the curries. I especially enjoyed the peacefulness and neatness of the restaurant and hope to come back soon.
All ok!!!
Who plays has amazing food off the hook smell when you walk in the door got a try it you won't be disappointed
Loved the Seafood Medley.
No frills, just Thai food.
Delicious and authentic
always fast, fresh, friendly and consistently the best Thai food in pdx.
so good still after all these years!!! thank you
I've only been here a couples times but each time the customer service was exceptional. The young female server working both timez was so thoughtful and goes above and beyond.
Good selection of Thai food and I'd say they're probably the best-tasting of this food genre on Alberta Street. Their basil fried rice is delicious. The inside looked a bit strange to me at first since it's so brightly-colored, but it is pretty clean. Also, service is super nice and rather fast.
Delicious food with some unique menu options. Worth seeking out. Very friendly service (a little slow, but who isn't understaffed these days).
Such wonderful food! I had Lemon chicken and my partner had the sea bass. Exquisite flavors and presentation. We also had a side of sesame balls that were delectable.
Best green curry on Alberta!
Received a to go order and rice arrived with food debris throughout. It’s clear they reserve unconsumed rice from the restaurant tables. This will be my last order.
Awesome food there the best ever try them I'm sure you will agree
Found a fly 🪰in our Pad Thai. Ruining our appetites. Try comped 1 drink because if the fly.
⏳Doors didn’t open until 12:20 (20 minutes after the opening)
No flavor, over cooked vegetables. How does this place stay in business?
No one in the dining room should have been a tip off. Go to Thai Noon.
The waitresses was very nice! The food was great, they got out spice preferences correct and it was full of flavor. We had the red duck curry and green curry with squid. We will definitely be back 😉
Just got takeout for the first time last night and WOW. We got the Mussaman Curry, the Kao Soi, Pad See Ew, and the Squid Rings. First of all, when they mean VERY HOT, they mean it which was refreshing. Spicy lovers will enjoy the hottest level. The squid was crunchy, and like all the dishes, were generously portioned. The star of the show was the Kao Soi. It's a soup, but under the noodle section because it comes with noodles, both crunchy and soft. It was rich, incredibly flavorful, and the textures all went together for a dish that really impressed. Next time we'll skip the curry for this dish because it was much more complex. Will definitely be back!
This has been my go-to Thai place since I was a kid. They even hosted my wedding rehearsal dinner.
Since we enjoyed dinner there recently, we decided to have lunch today. We had potstickers, pad Thai and a curry dish. All were great!
Tasty food.
Reliably good Thai food.
Food was good
My housemates and I get takeout from Cha Ba Thai at least once a month and have been for the last three years. They're incredibly consistent and I have yet to eat something from there that I didn't like. I love them!!!!
Consistently great food and friendly staff. I highly recommend the pad see ew
Got spring rolls and green curry shrimp with white rice. Fast and tasty.
Mediocre at best
Great food for a reasonable price!
Just came in and got the shrimp pad Thai and a Thai iced tea. As soon as I opened the bag it smelt like something was burnt. When I opened up the box I realized it was the egg. With no time to turn back around and this being my work dinner I decided to avoid the egg and eat the noodles. They were bland. My Thai iced tea was gone in two nice sized drinks because it was 95% ice. Save your money. I was highly unsatisfied.
Nice location on NE Alberta with manageable street parking. Lots of familiar Thai dishes and the kitchen accomodates special requests. The wine and beer list is good and there is a full bar for cocktail lovers. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Good quality neighborhood place. Enjoy!
Great food and drinks. Friendly staff.
Good thai food, friendly service
20 years my favorite.. eat it
Got take out here and probably won’t try again. It’s acceptable in a pinch, but there are plenty of other options nearby/around town. We got yellow curry and mussamun - both of which were fairly salty and had random, extra vegetables in them. The online prices were also incorrect, and the dishes were each $2 more than listed.
I love this place, staff is super friendly. They make the best green curry, the salad with grilled shrimp is my favorite also the pad woon sen is yummy. They are my favorite thai spot on Alberta!
Great food, full bar, reasonably priced. Loved the Pad Eggplant.
Remains our go-to Thai place when we're in NE Portland.
Probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Not because the food wasn't good but because it never arrived.... They forgot to place my order. Worst part however was that rather than to offer to bring something tide me over as my friends ate.. they simply said that they forgot and that was that. Very bad formBest to avoid this place when there are so many great places near by.
Takeout was great. Tom Kha is great.
Great for lunch and big parties. Great food too
Best Pad Thai in NE PDX.
If you're looking for Thai comfort food that's how I would describe Cha'Ba. Nothing is life changing, but almost everything is solid and flavorful and well priced. Crab fried rice, pad Thai woon sen and green curry are favorites.
Awesome food and speedy service.
First time there and found this to be a pleasure. The food is fresh and tasty albeit they tone down the spice for the westerners the flavors are there and are very good. I will go back and try other dishes and ask for it to be spicyer!
My favorite Thai restaurant in Portland. No fuss, just well made, with many flavors in each dish and portions sized to share. It's a good conversation meal. Only one complaint: bring back the fried coconut tofu, please.
Great Thai food at a fair price with large portions... highly recommended
The food is bomb! Prices are reasonable.
Great food, prices, and service!
It’s a nice restaurant. Good food. Great for family. Food portion is big so when order for 1 is actually good for 2 to 3 pax (base on Asian food portion measurement)
I love Thai food and was really looking forward to eating a this place because it’s really close to home and has a large, dog-friendly outdoor seating area. It was just me and a dog so I only ordered veggie rolls and tom yum soup. The rolls were great but the soup was bad. I almost always order tom yum soup at Thai restaurants and up until now have never been so disappointed. Maybe the rest of the menu is great, but I need my tom yum fix, so I’ll not be going back 😢
Love the food and cocktails
Didn’t get a chance to look at the menu fully, was rushed to order food from a bigger table being there- boyfriend and I just walked out after the rude encounter
Rushed to order food within 2 minutes of being in restaurant. First time visit
Best Tom Kha in PDX!
The food was very good.
Pros:The pad eggplant is amazing. We order take out from here a lot and they are always on time and good about fixing any mistakes.
Cons: Sometimes table service is a little slow, so be okay with taking your time. The spice rating varies from time to time.
Delicious Pad Eggplant and Pad Thai!
AMAZING FOOD!!! I ordered a pad thai at hot and it was perfect!! Deicous flavor with meat or vegetarian options. My pad thai was served with bean sprouts to calm the hotness if you gorge it down like you automatically do. Awesome portions that fill you, and VERY reasonable prices. Loved it!!!
This is the best Thai food in Portland, in my opinion. I've tried a few of their items, but my standard is the red curry with tofu and the thai fresh rolls. First of all, this is the only place that cooks the tofu on all sides, so that it has that slightly chewy texture, and isn't just mushy sponge! Second, the peanut sauce that's served with the fresh rolls is so good I've been known to just eat it with a spoon. The staff is friendly and pick-up service is fast: 15 minutes from when I call in to when I pick up. I recommend this restaurant 100%.
Best Thai in Portland I've ever had! The staff was SO accommodating and wonderful. Going to have to try not to go every week.
Delicious and always just what we're looking for! They have average prices and very good food. Some of the best tom yum in town!
As a avid consumer of Thai food, I would say this is thee best location on Alberta you. Their food is noticeably cooked to perfection. You just have to see for yourself!! Too good for words 😀
My go-to place for Thai food
Nice little spot
Tasty food!
The salad rolls with peaunt sauce are the best.
Yummy food nice waiters decent priced
Chaba Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant in the Alberta district, and there are many! Great food, great atmosphere. They even made my daughter a dish that she loves but was not on the menu!
Good drunken noodles
Absolutely awful! my husband couldn't even eat his food. His curry was pure water! He orders the same dish he always order in all the Thai restaurants we go to and their excuse was every restaurant is different. They didn't even even offer another dish. My daughter's chicken was pure cartlidge and she couldn't even chew it. Will never go again!
Great price and amazing Tom yum soup!
Egg rolls are amazing. Best drunken noodles I've had, it's my go to dish every time I try a new Thai place and this one has been my favorite. Also had the papaya salad extra spicy... It was Spicy! But so good. Love this place.
I love Cha Ba Thai. I live around the corner from the Alberta location. Always friendly, always fast, always delicious, always CONSISTENT. Its such a plus to find an Asian restaurant that knows how to prepare perfect tofu. Cha ba Thai is my favorite Thai chain of all time.
I ordered the Lemon Chicken salad and they used Italian dressing. The chciken was dry and was served on a bed of iceberg lettuce with some tomatoes, green onion, and lemon grass. Overall, mediocre. My partner ordered a curry based dish and it lacked flavor. The service was good, but we won't likely be back when there are so many other better Thai eateries in Portland.
Tasty food
Whenever I'm in Portland, I always get a meal from here. Awesome flavors and quick service.
Love this place, can bring the dog and sit outside on the patio. Food is good and service is excellent.
Delicious Thai food. Great portions on the lunch menu!
Quality has seriously declined and I'm pretty sure they're using 'light' coconut milk in their curries, because I've not had an aspertame headache like after that meal in a good number of years.
Delicious Thai food with lovely staff.
